This is the newest ETR/ETT release, right? Great stuff. For the turtles and Doug releases in particular this label put out these things had to be re-recorded since proper recordings of them never existed in the first place, so they are recreated "tributes" made in association with the original creators of the shows. May or may not be everyone's bag of tea, but for fans of game music and music from animation/tv soundtracks then I can tell you they have a ton of great stuff in the pipeline that people are gonna love :)

Reputation was kind of the old way of saying thanks, or "liking" what someone said/posted. Theoretically, the witty posters or people who shared the most would have the most rep. When you leave rep, you can leave a comment, presumably to say thanks or why you agree or whatever. Nobody ever does though.
It was kinda made obsolete once the like system came around here, but since that's gone the way of the dodo we're back to rep I guess.

Big surprise for the thread.
Project X Zone 2's sound selection isn't a full soundtrack, but it has some of the best songs on it. Amazing remixes by a team, including Yuzo Koshiro, of classic game songs in this crossover title, including remixes of Shenmue's main theme, Megaman X3, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney, Sakura Wars, Yakuza, Streets of Rage 2, Tales of Vesperia, God Eater 2, Tekken, Resident Evil, Virtua Fighter, .hack// and Valkyrie no Bouken. Also some original tracks.

The album contains a track from a Resident Evil game, too, I'm under the impression that the ban on Resident Evil is general/final (by that I mean: I've seen also links to doujin albums having covers of tracks from resident evil games removed, went along with it ever since).

Have you seen? A new Paper Mario!

Yeay!
It looks really bad, though--like Sticker Star 2 basically.

It's only the third or so time in the past two years that I've had any lasting problems with it, so it's mostly been reliable. I'll just send you the link to the files in a pm.

Talking with the uploader on what.cd .. seeing what version of their rip is. The US version in this case is the parent album, so depending on what their version is.. is whether or not I will rip mine. If there is already a US copy that is perfectly ripped fine, there is no reason for me to RIP my own copy.

Got home at like 3 AM, first thing I did? Rip that CD :P I can upload and post here if anyone would be interested. For what it's worth the logs are different from the EU cd excellently ripped by Bonesatyr, probably no real difference just a different glass master used for replication. The artwork also seems much nicer on the EU release (and he does great scans - thanks for those!) but if anyone cares about that sort of thing and wants the US release instead, just lmk

Hello girls and guys,
Does any of you have by any chance the collection of No more Heroes and Shovel Knight soundtracks in lossless? Since I heard Philistine I can't wait to get my hands on a proper US version of the song. The Japanese edit is not as nice. I tried to look on the forum but except the one album all others are not available in LOSSLESS.
Thanks in advance!

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD Sound Selection (USA)
The metadata and cue sheet were generated using the Nintendo-sanctioned info encoded in the CD-Text. i only made two alterations to the track tags. I changed the title from "The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD" to "The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD Sound Selection" (so that the cue sheet would retain the original CD-Text data as written on disc)
I also changed the tag for Album Artist from "Various Artists" to "Koji Kondo" so that it would be grouped in with the rest of his work, as he is the primary composer of the music, however each individual track still has the correct artist tags as found in the CD-Text
Album scan included from highest res I able to find online, both in tags and as a separate file in the folder. Log, cue, the usual. I hope anyone doesn't mind the slight tag alterations I made, but I feel they were practical. I think it should be fine but please let me know if I fucked up royally. Enjoy everyone!

I think it's less a booklet than a single sheet foldover insert that expands into a picture of link/midna on the inside. Not missing out on much tbh but bonesatyr's rip has great scans of all parts of the EU release.

2 things you screwed up on.. just fyi
Was wondering more about my reasoning for altering the tags :P this drive I used for this rip does actually use the c2 pointers correctly, however the others do not (and so that setting is turned off if the other drives are in use for ripping)
Testing upon ripping does add an extra layer of security to get a matching set of CRCs but that's what accuraterip and the ctdb are there for, so in most cases it would have no benefit and would only serve to double the time it takes to rip. For this reason even secure ripping is unnecessary in many cases (but of course I do that anyway.) Using test+rip on common discs is completely redundant, and not exactly the most appealing thing when you have thousands of discs to go through.
I only do test+rip for CDs that are exceptionally rare or burned discs, etc. cases where a match will probably never be found. And in those cases, I even do a test on a completely different drive just to make sure the same results are given.
As you can see, my rip accurately matched the entries that were submitted to CTDB. AR reports typically aren't submitted immediately, but if you give it a week, rebuild my rip and rip again, you'll see it will match those rips too. ;)

At any point , you should not use C2 pointers no matter if the drive can do them or not. Also Test & Copy should always be something you do on any rip regardless of AccurateRip or how "rare" the disc is.

Ah thanks. Btw by resampled I meant they used different instrument sample packs for WWHD

Now, why the "Best of Tales" album?
Track 8 and 10 are the Tales of Phantasia Opening Theme, both the SNES and the PSX editions (different singer) released on 1995 and 1998, and that's the only FLAC tracks I've been able to get :(
There are 2 singles for both themes (SNES and PSX), which also include the karaoke versions and another track (with the karaoke version as well), sadly, I can't even find a proper 320cbr mp3 versions of those! (I have one, but that's from 10 years ago, sounds good in a common device, but it's not high quality)
The missing albums are these ones:
SNES/1995
The Dream Will Not Die ~The Spilling Drops of Time~ / Yukari Yoshida
夢は終わらない ~こぼれ落ちる時の雫~ / 吉田由香里
Yume wa Owaranai ~Koboreochiru Toki no Shizuku~ / Yukari Yoshida

I don't know if anyone else has been doing this but using proxies that let you get items from yahoo auctions is your best bet for finding old Japanese singles/albums/soundtracks. I use buyee for my stuff though it does get a bit pricey when you factor in proxy fees and international shipping, but thanks to them I was able to get the Dark Souls OST and Segata Sanshiro single I posted a while back.

Sorry guys, I really don't mean to disappoint or be argumentative! If I re-rip the disc with a test rip done at the same time (again, redundant) and with c2 pointers ignored (which again, is not the correct setting for this particular drive but admittedly could be turned off with no ill effect) please do correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing that would change is the part of the .log that tells you what my settings were, which would change to reflect the new settings. The PCM data encoded in the files themselves would be completely identical, bit for bit, sample for sample.
Let's acknowledge that there are multiple paths to the same destination. I have ripped thousands of CDs over the years, each one of them is verifiably 100% accurate and perfect in every respect, and this one is no different. Trust me, I'm probably the pickiest person on the planet when it comes to this kinda thing. Again, not trying to be a dick here, but I'm respectfully declining to re-rip the disc. :P

do correct me if I'm wrongYou're not wrong, as long as your drive handles C2 pointers correctly and (more pertintently) the checksums/confidence checked out with AccurateRip for this disc. C2 pointers provide low-level detection/correction for errors caused by dirt, surface scratches etc, if C2 pointers had erroneously "corrected" a sample then the track checksum would've been different to all the others in the AR database and you'd know you had a problem.
Unless you have reason to believe that everyone else in the AccurateRip database for this disc is making some other manner of fault in the ripping process such that all tracks are affected equally and return identical checksums (this is actually more likely than most would like to admit, but I won't derail further as possible causes do not include C2 pointers or direct copying without test), then there's really no logical reason to re-rip with the settings requested.

Hey man, no worries. Again, for the reasons I mentioned above, I'm not exactly sure you have a technical understanding behind what those 2 settings do or why they will not produce a different rip, but if you wish to do your copy anyhow I understand it's nothing personal - I respect and even admire your exacting standards for this stuff! It's certainly a step in the right direction even if I think the sentiment is a little misguided, it's much better than a community that's willing to accept transcodes or lossless encodes made using iTunes or some other insecure ripper, etc. too much stuff out there just isn't available in a truly lossless form due to improperly done rips.
If you don't wish to rip yours, I did find this link (
Thread 201036) to another copy posted here even before I even received my copy! It seems to be the US pressing, and ripped to your liking (on a drive ignoring c2 pointers) so it should serve you well. If you choose to download this one, or rip your own, I only request that you personally take the time to look at the resulting log, compare it to mine, and make note of exactly where/how they differ. Again, no hard feelings, just want you to understand why I'm being particularly stubborn about this :P

I think its more of an OCD thing.. I have always done rips via what.cd standards. So i've followed guidelines whenever I rip something. So by default c2 pointers were always disabled, and I've always ran test & copy each time, I know it usually takes longer but at least then I know that I'm not getting any errors and it catches them before it completes the rip. Just whenever I run a .log file through their logchecker and it doesn't come back with 100% score, it just eats at me lol.. kinda like saying you almost won the lottery but because of that 1 number off.. lol

I am not sure if this is the right place to do this but here it goes. Does anyone have the Valkyrie Profile OST in FLAC? The link in this thread is actually missing 4 tracks or if someone could send me the 4 tracks that are missing that would be fine as well. Thanks.

I see, I actually had no idea about the What.cd log checker until now and just had a look at it and checked out its scoring criteria… I can definitely understand wanting to have a log that checks out with a perfect score, although I do think the metric is a bit flawed in the sense that C2 results in automatic deduction, since having it off isn't necessarily always the correct setting from a technical standpoint - which is why I have multiple drives at my disposal, some configured without it, one with. Personally I think the idea of an automated log checker is somewhat silly since I like to analyze and judge them for myself but I guess I can understand the desire to somehow give a quantitative rating of one log against another.
I myself am extremely OCD with my rips, either self-created or downloaded, but I guess only to the extent of verifying that the rip itself is absolutely perfectly done without the slightest error or alteration to the original data. For rarer material where an AR match is impossible, especially CD-R sourced material, I've even gone through the trouble of verifying rips on multiple drives. I've been able to get perfect rips even from all sorts of problem discs. 10-15 year old Cd-r media in which the dye layer has degraded chemically or been physically compromised. 30+ year old media from the birth of the CD which has badly oxidized or developed pinholes. Discs that have been seriously battered and abused. There have been very few cases where I have not been able to 100% perfectly extract the data but these cases involved either complete destruction of the data layer or discs with pressing errors that were flawed to begin with.
I don't currently have a what membership but if I did, the stuff I'd be into uploading is the kind of stuff that would be unobtainable anywhere else. Rare internal use discs, demos, studio references, etc. generally unreleased material. If not that then the rarer commercial discs in my collection. I don't see myself removing the c2 from this drive at any point in the near future, but if anyone wants to trump a perfect rip with a "near-perfect" log that's only off by a few points, I wholly welcome that, anyone can be my guest. They'll have to get the disc in the first place though ;)

I think they encourage it to be off by default because most drives that think they can handle C2 actually cause problems. So I mean if your drive can handle it and you know that for a fact than I wouldn't worry about it.
Also I added EmteCoke's The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Sound Selection (
http://vgmdb.net/album/55626) to my Collection, and so subscribers can find it in the T folder. It is the US Version. I retagged it with proper artists.. instead of just "Nintendo". Log and cue are unchanged.

I didn't know turning into an audiophile changes your music taste in that way. In fact, for me at least, becoming an audiophile actually broadened my taste in music. I used to hate orchestral music tracks but after getting into lossless audio and especially after getting a pair of super bassy subwoofers, orchetral music tracks are now one of my favourite things to listen to. Same goes for modern music.
I listen to more kinds music if they're lossless for the sake of hearing the super clear instruments, in turn making me appreciate said genres more.
But yeah, I kinda agree with Vegeta, some of the music tracks sounds pretty meh in the samples. For example.. Ugh, Carnival Night... I hate circus music, and that track sounds literally like it belongs in a circus (which I'm sure is the point). I wish it sounded more like this (

No, no. Not the music taste. I mean that it just simply changes your listening "enjoyment" of some CDs, and you just hear the mistakes, and want too much, and then the CDs you were once pleased, once you are an audiophile, start sounding like shit to you and it's sad

I know what you mean. When you have some experience in a studio it's hard to not pull apart a recording when you hear it. You can hear how they did things, and when it sounds good, it's really great. Sounds good on good gear and you appreciate it even more. But on the other hand you can also kinda tell when someone took the easy way around of doing something or just didn't do a good job, etc. it's annoying when a lot of the music I like and want to listen to is recorded so poorly. The terrible mastering practices that are common nowadays definitely don't help matters either.
speaking of poor quality, actually discussing that Twilight Princess CD… I can't be the only one who's a little disappointed, no? I don't know, but I expected a lot better. $20 says Nintendo just released a line-rip on disc.

Alright, now I'm intrigued. What's wrong with the Star Wars soundtracks? I'm really out of the loop on Star Wars stuff so I don't know what the general consensus is, but when something's wrong with a recording it's something I typically notice right away. I have a pretty extensive collection of Star Wars soundtracks. The early 80's CDs, the early 90's CDs (4 disc boxset) the mid 90's CDs (holographic special editions) probably others I'm forgetting too. The "Jedi Rocks" promo single. The Christmas Album. The limited edition box set of the radio drama. The prequels soundtracks (including SE for episode 1) and the 24/192 HDtracks download for the Force Awakens. Nothing really sounds "off" about any of them to my ears. What gives?

Exactly, I have the same feeling when listening this Enslaved OST - 15 - The Hero's Journey (

Man, I loved the Enslaved soundtrack but the mixing was god-awful. Hell, even the Wwise engine didn't have the audio in anything more than 112kbps... ugh.

speaking of poor quality, actually discussing that Twilight Princess CD I can't be the only one who's a little disappointed, no? I don't know, but I expected a lot better. $20 says Nintendo just released a line-rip on disc.
I'm listening to it right now. Fuck it. I already had a gamerip years ago. At least the gamerip didn't have the horrendous reverb effect. This though.. (

Yeah, I was doing a gamerip, but stopped due to that, the quality is so low that I will be ready to send tons of money to Nitin Sawhney to make a complete OST with all tracks merged.

What gives?
They say the 1997 CDs (which are also 2004, 2007 and 2015 editions) sound horrible.. or were mastered horribly.

I never listened to any of them too seriously but oddly enough I remember the '97 CDs being my favorite of the bunch, being that they took the multis and mixed them digitally so there was less generational loss. I'll have to go and check the rips out over the weekend, maybe a/b them. The early 80's CDs for these always sounded a bit too soft for me, I'm betting they were cut from European LP masters or something. You do get Lapti Nek though which will always beat Jedi Rocks, any day of the week…

Btw, the files have 1 MB embedded artwork, making the album 467 MB. I removed the embedded artwork and the padding and now the album is 420 MB. Even if you think it isn't worth the hassle, do it for the 420!!!!
Paste metaflac.exe into the same folder as the album, unhighlight everything, hold shift and right-click in the folder, open a cmd window, and paste this: metaflac --dont-use-padding --remove --block-type=PICTURE,PADDING *.flac

I don't know what you're talking about tbh lol
All I know is that I see a cover.jpg, and then I look at the music tracks themselves and they have that same cover.jpg embedded. That's a waste of space for literally no reason. So I removed it and saved myself almost 50 MB. I still see the album art because of the cover.jpg. :P

He's talking about embedding images in every single damn track, which is indeed a stupid thing to do and wastes space especially if it's a huge image.
All you need is a cover.jpg in the same folder as the lossless files, and having a jpg or PNG in that folder called 'cover.jpg' will be automatically interpreted as 'the cover art' by any good music player, like foobar2000. There is absolutely no reason for embedding the image directly into the track unless you're afraid someone will delete the image file from the folder in the future and want to sacrifice the space to make sure someone doesn't get rid of them, ever - except people who want to remove the cover art will, as evidenced by sonicrings doing so.
This is completely different from a 'booklet' folder for scans.

Good question. That is actually a command for a single flac at a time in which I changed the last part to say *.flac. This is what was intended for use with whole folders:
metaflac --dont-use-padding --remove --block-type=PICTURE,PADDING PathToYourFolder\*.flac
So since I used the single flac command to remove the padding from a whole folder of flacs, maybe you can modify that single folder command to remove the padding from all your folders? Let me know if you figure it out.
Btw, simply removing the album art in mp3tag doesn't reduce the filesize, for anyone wondering why I didn't just do that.

The Sonic 3d Blast Saturn disc is a mixed-mode cd. Just like Sonic R, you can rip the audio tracks to your computer or play them in a cd player directly from the disc. You can do this with some PlayStation 1 games as well.

That really sounds like your problem here. I personally put entire albums on my phone, so the space all adds up. I know what you're saying though, and for some songs that I just put one from an album, I leave the embedded artwork there. That is the only time embedded artwork should be used, though.
Removing the embedded artwork from that album yesterday saved me 50 MB. For someone who has 500 albums, if all my albums had embedded artwork, I'd be wasting 50 GB of space for literally no reason whatsoever.

There used to be No More Heroes' full set on Vegeta's FTP as well. Wonder how the mirrors are doing now.
Oh and, does someone happen to still have Darius Premium Box?

It sounds fine to me. See, this is what happens when you learn a lot about audio and you turn into an audiophile; you want too much out of a recording/mastering. And start seeing fails everywhere
Not talking about the sound quality, I mean I think the choice of music instruments sounds like shit.

I think Carnival Night actually clips, lol. At the very beginning, pay close attention, is it just me or does it clip? O.o

Has Final Fantasy IX a music player menu in the smartphone version? Like FF6 on Steam?

Hmmm....
How did you change your name?
I hacked the site, stole everybody's monies, and changed my name while I was at it. I then went to jail for 9 years, learned how to control time after I was released, and came back in time to take Jessie under my wing, train him until he became a mod here, and asked him to change my name for me. Note that this time I did NOT steal everybody's monies.
Here is a quote I snagged from the fabric of time:
Devious plan you got there.
