I've asked in the request thread, but figured I'd put it here since it seems there are some requests floating around. I recently lost a hard drive (before I had backup of course), and all of my vgm with it. I am trying to get it all back little by little, but I have to prioritize! If anyone has FLAC rips of the Suikoden soundtracks (1-5) and can upload them, or can direct me to a source that has them, I would be super grateful. Thank you in advance!

You are exactly in the same bot as me, I mean, I recently lost some very precious ost with my hdd faillure, now I try to get back everything and with the best quality possible.

The bad thing is, I have bought many ost when I was young and, when I moved to another country, I throw away all these ost after ripped them in my hdd.
Now this hdd is dead, and I lost some very very rare ost, like Mami Kingetsu - touch and go album, I love R&B (vol 2 and 3) [jpop], Some Tenchu OST, the complete Samurai Champloo OST and Globe Lights too, a very extremely rare album of sakura card captor (eu edition) with froggy mix etc....

All these things done for ever....

Thanks McGlynn...could have sworn I clicked some of those and got dead links, but I must just be crazy. =) Sorry about your loss, Zaykho. The death of a hard drive without a backup is a terrible, terrible thing...especially when you have been collecting for a long time and lose rare items. I lost about 8 years worth of downloading. Good luck finding what you are looking for!

Nintendo *facepalm*, they require us to buy the game on BOTH systems to get the soudtrack ? fuck that.
I'm not really interested in Smash, but my brother's gonna pick it up for Wii U only.

There are some ways to acquire these CDs without purchasing both versions.

1. Buy it on Ebay.
2. Buy the Club Nintendo codes.
3. Trade codes with your friends. Some people will likely buy several copies of the 3DS version.

I was planning to get both versions regardless, so this is an awesome free bonus.

What do you care you were going to download it anyways.

Also buy one version of smash, and then buy the other versions' club nintendo code from eBay.

Assuming the code at the very most would cost $13, thats $13 for a 2-disc set of Nintendo music, as opposed to the $50+ you'd spend buying it off-hand.

In the titel it says "Sound Selection". So I would say no.
But maybe I'm wrong.

I mean, Brawl had about 300 songs.
They would not fit even 2 CD I think.
How many songs will then have "SSB Wii U / 3DS"?
Okay, it may be that there will be less songs in the games, but I don't think so.

So annoying !
Well, no more!

This download consists of Tunes that were cross-bought from the different Albums the game featured.
Only one Problem, Track 17 : El Huervo - Turf is not avaible on BandCamp, so its missing... Hope that's not too big a problem.

I'm curious about this as well.

Oh how much i'd love to claim personal credit for it, but i stumbled across a torrent during one of my weekly searches for it, never gave up on finding a lossless version. :)

Can't remember exactly which site it was, but it says "compiled by wzg45" so i guess it's RuTracker, since he is a moderator there...

Listening to that Dark Cloud soundtrack brings a lot back to me. I was 11 years old back when I played this game, back when I had all the time in the world. Now I don't have time for these games as life has become more than one expects and the time just isn't there. Gosh do I miss being a kid, so innocent and naive.

To this day I never got the part in the game where Toan was being sexually raped by an old lady as "reading a fortune". Japanese fetish? Who knows ... :p

I'm looking for a portable speaker, any suggestions? I know Bluetooth is compression and thats a no no for some of you, but some of those speakers sound quite good. Some may even mimic a wired connection with things like AptX if your device and sink support it.

Some may even mimic a wired connection with things like AptX if your device and sink support it.Bluetooth Speakers are actually very nice much more portable than a wired connection. The quality of output on these depend on the drivers, speakers and DSP configuration. My solid recommendation would be a MINI JAMBOX™ by JAWBONE. Used a JAM+ and its louder but has interference and distorts, don't get that.

The MINI JAMBOX is Perfect for these reasons:

•Pocketable
•Solid DSP configuration and 'Live' mode
•Sturdy Unibody Metallic casing
•High quality Drivers and speakers
•Does not distort audio even when at Max volume
•10hrs battery life
•Bluetooth 4.0
•It looks and performances awesome
•Speakerphone
•Its a steal on eBay (got mines new for $65 free shipping)

This is one of those products you need even though you've never used it before.

Being that I currently have 267 subscribers, I don't think I want to send a PM to every 5 people, as ffshrine doesn't allow more than that. I figured this was the best way to ask. Awesome Collection, Can't wait to grab Pastel Bee & Akebre OST, but can i make 1 small Quality of Life request ?

Your downloads all having the same filename (New Folder.rar) prevents people from grabbing multiple Albums at the same time. Maybe put a differing number for each one at the end ?

Aside from that, No Complaints, you rock mixi, thanks again !

If anyone is wondering.. this is one of my very first vgm rips, so thats why you don't see my name in the folder path in the log file. This was first uploaded to here on v1 thread, then uploaded to what.cd, then rutracker put it on their site.. and it just kept moving. It is also uploaded to waffles.fm

Great album though, I still listen to Disc 3 quite a lot :D

Random question for you all; have you played any of the games for the VG music you all listen to? I find it spoils it so I avoid listening to game music unless I have beaten the game in question. You all have a fuckload is why I ask (haha).

I always do it in "reverse". I listen to the soundtrack, and then sometimes (years later) I play the game. Enjoying the music is a good indicator for me that I might like the game. Or phrased differently, even a mediocre game can be enjoyable if the music is great.

Currently playing Wild Arms the 4th Detonator (PS2), where the soundtrack came out in 2005. I probably bought in somewhere in 2007. It is special for me because it marks the departure of Michiko Naruke from the WA series. I never had the impression that listening to the music spoilered anything for me. In fact I really enjoy to experience it now to see/hear how the music is used in the game context. There is this really long track (9min) on disc 3 of the OST, called The Buried City (or The Forgotten City depending on the translation). I always wondered where they put such a long track into, especially with the very slow build-up. Hearing now how the track keep progressing and progressing while you explore the ruins of said buried city, it's really beautiful and shows how closely level designer and composer (Naruke in this case) must have worked together.

I also download the soundtracks for games I don't have, but I refuse to listen to them until I have played the game.

I like having formed memories to go with the music first.

Some games I'll probably never play or can play.
For example, Final Fantasy XI and XIV.
That's why I listen to soundtracks often in first.

Random question for you all; have you played any of the games for the VG music you all listen to? I find it spoils it so I avoid listening to game music unless I have beaten the game in question. You all have a fuckload is why I ask (haha).

Well, i at least try to play the game before i download and listen to the music, but as the people before me said, that's not always easy... ^^

There are just games i will never have a chance to play, but its not that bad, since i mostly listen to Retro Music, so i have played a lot of them.

But, Case in Point, i am dying to dig into the Transistor Soundtrack, but i won't let myself before i've finished the Game, since its so integral to the experience.

There is only 1 Game series i never make Exceptions for, and that's Disgaea, so much good music in those Games, can never wait to finish the next one so i can put its OST on Heavy Rotation. :D

Didn't post it because they not once perform as the Oneups on that album and if i have to be frank, i didnt think it was very good. Like, at all, pretty disappointed with it. :(

I know its in this Thread and the Link is dead, i have it and will upload it eventually, but i wanna go over my backlog first, other stuff has priority since my upload speed is pretty bad atm.

I always wondered the same thing :-) I download a lot of albums but only really regularly listen to the ones I physically own, and I only buy albums for games I've played. I think the best soundtracks are the ones that have that added nostalgia to them.

I usually try to only get the music for games I've played or games I know I'll play once they come out over here because they're in a series I really like. I also take into account the composer. If it's a composer I'm a fan of, I'll look up the game and if it interests me, I'll get the soundtrack. I also usually try to avoid game rips, because unless someone is really adept at it, the looping and fade outs feel really forced...

I usually get the soundtracks to the games I've already played, since it's one of the aspects that get stuck in my head after playing.

a) Try without the addon.
or
b) Try Chrome
or
c) Make small parts (200mb or bigger/lower) like: part1, part2, part3 etc.

That'd be a bitch to download anyway. Try 500MB parts or just under a gig

Someone knows if it's ok to edit the tags, especially the names of the LOG and CUE of a rip? Or do they become useless if I do it?

I take your approach on it although as I'm playing through a game and I really like a particular song, I'll listen to it from a soundtrack or ripped version at the very least. I avoid songs I haven't listened to in the game though until I do actually hear for the first time playing it.

You can edit CUE as much as you want, but LOG on the other hand is meant to stay untouched. An edited LOG kinda loses its credibility. For reason as such, places of private trackers don't accept rips with edited logs. If changes were made, it can be detected by a Log Integrity Checker (checklog.exe comes with EAC).

Happened to me too, downloading or uploading. As others have suggested it's best to move them in smaller parts (~500mb is fine) and then if bad thing to happen, the consequences aren't so dire.

I'm still in agreement with the others but, Sometimes listening to a soundtrack before I play the game helps me wonder should I even take a look at it. The Scans and pictures online helps me too! and looking at some of the gameplay sets my final decision in another state I LOVE to go by the Resident Evil code (Fine, Caution, (orange caution and danger.) cant pass that then I'll shall be on my way :D

If it's a game that I'm really intending and interested to play, then I won't listen to it before beating it; this is the case with basically every Sonic game. However, if it's a game that I'm not really intending and not interested to play, then I'll listen to it freely.

One problem that I have however is... that I really need to organise myself to get myself to actually beat all the games and listen to all the music.

Also, if the OST is a recent release and readily available to buy brand new, then I won't listen to it before buying.

Frankly I've been meaning to put together an Atelier (mostly lossless) collection thread, I have rips of most of the albums pertaining to the series and I've just found more and more ways to put it off. (But it's like 60 albums so that's easy find an excuse for)

I have a copy that I picked up from ASL, if you don't have a problem with me just up'ing their copy to MEGA then I'll do that for you.
No .log btw.

EDIT: If you do want it, keep in mind I have a slow upload speed, so it'll take a while to actually get it up.

That's fine by me. Just wanted this album because a youtuber used one of the songs and I really liked it, so I listened to the rest online, and it was great. Also, what is a .log? I can wait for the upload, it's not like I'm in a hurry or anything. Would love to listen to the rest of the albums of the series (though 60 albums IS a bit much). Thanks!

You can think of a .log as a sort of "record of the rip". It contains details of the rip itself, and it is typically used to validate the accuracy/quality of a rip. Also a sort of "soft-proof" that the music isn't a lossy or improper rip and then converted to a lossless format (though most people seem to just go in and check the wave forms nowadays).

Anyways, back to Atelier. Yeah this album is pretty solid if you like vocal tracks. I'll start up'ing now, should be up in a couple hours (if no one else is straining my internet it could be up faster). I'ma go ahead and say that those other albums will be up when I find the time to sit down and crank them out. I'd also like to find a nice format to actually use for the thread itself, cause after like 10 albums the straight up centered album art with huge font just starts getting in the way.
See ya in a bit.

eleriaqueen
09-14-2014, 03:49 PM
phbgjf I don't think there is a soundtrack to Super Mario Kart, VGMDB doesn't show any result. I guess you'll have to emulate it. You'll need the SPC set for the game => Super Mario Kart - Super Nintendo Entertainment System Music - Zophar's Domain (http://www.zophar.net/music/spc/super-mario-kart.html)
You also need Foobar2000 => Download foobar2000 and optional components (http://www.foobar2000.org/download) , and a plugin called GameEmuPlayer (foo_gep) => foobar2000: Components Repository - Game Emu Player (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_gep)
Install Foobar and during the install set it so that it associates known extensions to Foobar, it'll help with adding a plugin.
You'll need to double click the component file (foo_gep) to add it to foobar (? I add them manually by unzipping the component file since it's a valid .zip)
Then just extract the SPC set, and add it to foobar. You'll also be able to make MP3's off SPC files.

Thanks eleriaqueen, I thought there was a soundtrack since I found this (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/5595) and this (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/134) download page, but links are dead. I managed to convert the mario kart's SPC files (from Zophar) to midi, but it sounds in low pitch. I used nintSPC since I don't want to install heavy programs.

Here some conversions.

Just a little Disclaimer for this one :

It's not a Videogame Music Album "per se" since only 1 track is actually featured in a VG, and i wouldn't post if it and the rest were not so damn fucking good !

It won first place at last year's Annual Game Music Awards (http://www.vgmonline.net/awards2013d/)in the Chiptune Category and is well worthy of that title.

I'll just post a YT Link to the track that is VG related and you can decide for yourself if you like it ! ;)

Why would you convert to MIDI? That doesn't make any sense (and it's no surprise that an automated MIDI conversion tool would be flawed). Just grab a player that supports SPC files, or convert SPC to a waveform-based format like MP3 or FLAC if you absolutely must.

Usually people who want to convert to MIDI are trying to get the songs as accurately as possible (it's given that it will be flawed) onto an actual musical instrument, like a keyboard. I've done it before to use with this learning tool/game. (http://www.synthesiagame.com/)

The real gem does not come out till the 19th.

Had I known about this copy I would have purchased that instead. The CD that comes with the limited edition has 5 tracks (small sampler like SMT4) This collectors edition comes with 20 tracks.

Yep that's the one I followed. Rips everything fine no errors (at-least reported by EAC) just that the flacs at the end are unplayable and are extremely small.

If I can't find an answer by the end of the day I'll just use foobar to rip them to .WAV then I'll convert them to .FLAC.

Could you upload the one you ripped with EAC ? .. I could check to see if I could play it. I can also check to see if anything went wrong.

My guess is that you have the drive set to something like "Read Command D4 1/2" (no thats not half.. thats 1 or 2) Let me guess your rip went really fast (well not super fast, but i'd say about 10 mins to rip)? Normally rips done correct would take around 30 mins up to 2 hours depending on tracks.

Press F10.. Under the Drive tab.. put in a different disc.. and hit "Autodetect read command now" button. I had the same problem before. No sound would come out of my files until I put in a different disc to detect it. I think since the disc you are trying to rip probably isn't in the database it can't get an accurate reading for your drive. I have mine set to MMC 2 (Yours wouldn't be the same, but then again there is a chance it could be).

Is that the only disc you have? Maybe you can try googling around with the Drive you have and see what others have theirs set to. I wouldn't know what drive you have since you didn't post any log for me to look at. (i'd recommend pastebin.com )

They are a subset to the package in your possession, so you will have 2 music CD's one "Best of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call" and the CD "Remix Selections"

Mind ripping that your 20 track disk? :D

HYPE HYPE HYPE!

Watch the new XV trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COZ4VDy5D0A), it has some lovely new music teased.
The very last cue reminds me of something from FFX. This looks like it'll be my most favourite Final Fantasy yet. Can't wait.

Maybe they look emo, but at least none of them have neon bright hair for once...
Also, for some reason I find it the masculine parallel of FFX-2. You might think this looks bad, but good god that game...
I don't like how they changed Stella's name to Luna, at least in this trailer.

This is a collection of all the lossless soundtracks I have received as a bonus when purchasing bundled games on Humble Bundle (http://anonym.to/?https://www.humblebundle.com/). All soundtracks are in FLAC, and rared separately, the same way they were when I downloaded them. I have added basic metadata like artist, album, composer, date etc., when it was missing. Other than that, the albums are the way I got them when I bought the games. If there is something missing compared to what VGMdb lists, then I'm afraid there's nothing I can do, since these are the files I received.

Please consider buying the games yourself on Humble Bundle, since you can get games for as little as $0.01, which is absolutely nothing, and you are helping charity by donating. Often you can get 5-9 games (including some soundtracks) for as little as $1.00 each, which I think most people can easily afford.

One note about Wizardry 6+7 OST: This soundtrack is not available on VGMdb, but it has an identical tracklist to the old Wizardry CD I have linked to. The track names in the rar have not been altered, which is why they are not called the same as the ones on VGMdb.

I've mixed feelings about FFXV. That awful-looking "car" and those emo-looking kids didn't help...

I'm going have to agree here >:|, Well not with the car thing the emo kids O_O.. man I loved final fantasy crisis core , but they better have at least 1 to 2 female characters playable. Even though FFCC didn't have a female playable but it was fun and didn't have this many males fighting at once in my opinion I hate playing as males in some games, Anyway it looks cool and Since I haven't play 13/13-2(have them YES!) yet I going to try after Dragon age :D.

Same. Ugly car, uninteresting cast, boring car ride and everything just mashed together without any kind of overall art direction. I can't name a single thing that I liked about the trailer, which is unfortunate cause I used to be such a huge FF fan, but damn, that was 2-4 console generations ago.

I thought some buddies on a road trip seems like a new concept for an FF game :P I was more worried about the battle system, it looks like a straight-up action game. I'm old, and I still like the original turn based stuff :P

The reason why Final Fantasy, the ones that everybody loves still to this day (particularly I-VIII) was turn based at the time is because that's really all the systems could handle at that time. And now, obviously, we're seeing RPGs move away from that recipe more and more, because the systems and technology today are FAR more sophisticated. Just like how old school 8bit games never had maps to check your progress, or checkpoints, or basically be guided step by step where to go to proceed in the game. I don't see people giving every game ever gruff for that though.

All I'm trying to say is, it's unreasonable to expect Final Fantasy in 2014 to be the Final Fantasy that we saw in the 90s. Even phones today have WAY more power. I'm not saying that you can't love the old games, by all means, do. They're classics. All I'm asking is to keep an open mind and appreciate the new games for what they are. They are a fresh breath of air and allow for a lot of new features, depending on who is in charge and how they present the creativity of the game. At least Final Fantasy isn't the same one trick pony, unlike a certain other RPG series (cough Pokemon cough).

Like several people have already stated, FFXV is still largely a mystery, and it probably won't even come out until 2016 at the very earliest, but every bit of progress is good progress. And it looks a lot more different than Final Fantasy Versus XIII was supposed to be eight years ago. But that is not a bad thing. Whether or not the game will be shit remains to be seen. As of this moment though, with the limited amount of gameplay footage that we have seen, I am loving what I am seeing. Honestly, FFXV and The Witcher 3 are the only true NEXT-GEN games that I have personally seen thus far. Everything else is borderline previous gen with higher resolution and more textures. So I am probably biased beyond all recognition, but I can't wait to see what Hajime Tabata will bring to us. He does have very good FF experience under his belt (Crisis Core, Type-0).

And let's be honest, the day that the Final Fantasy XV soundtrack gets leaked, every single one of you will be RUSHING to download it. Regardless of how emo the characters are.

Not me, I never got the FFX-2, FFXIII, FFXIII-2 or Lightning Returns soundtracks cause I thought they were awful games.

Square-Enix are fully aware of the older games being superior too. This week FF4 was released on Steam for PC, and next month FF13 is released on Steam for PC. FF4 is 23 years old and FF13 is 4 years old, FF4 is developed by far less people than FF13, and yet despite all this is FF4 is the more expensive game. Because they know it's better.

Many people on the internet liked FFX-2 Soundtrack, would even call it a good soundtrack, but only a few, a very, very few would argue that its a great/favorite soundtrack.

Critiquing the soundtrack as a collection of music, and critiquing it as a soundtrack for a game are two different ways to appreciate it.

FF4 is 23 years old and FF13 is 4 years old, FF4 is developed by far less people than FF13, and yet despite all this is FF4 is the more expensive game. Because they know it's better. They keep remaking Final Fantasy IV because people keep buying it, and it's cheap to reproduce on any system. Its one of their greatest classic hits, and its not complex at a graphical or technical side.

Its no different than a 50-year old book being re-published every few years. Some people would rebuy it, and new people would buy it.

They could remake FF4 20 times over with the budget it took to make FF13, and they could easily reach the widest audience possible due to even low requirements of even FF4's best version(s). And FF13 was successful enough to make a sequel, which in turn was successful to make a 3rd game. Even if they planned a trilogy, they would have stopped if they thought the 2nd or 3rd one couldn't bring a return on investment.

It has nothing to do with what is or isn't objectively superior, its all about money, and yet another port of an old FF is profitable.

I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan (with a name like ffshrine, I guess most of us here probably are), don't get me wrong. I've played every game and loved the ones that others seem to hate on for various reasons including FFXI-FFXIV. I thought the visuals of the trailer looked amazing. I don't think that "turn-based" can be attributed to the power (or lack thereof) of the system though. There were action RPGs on NES, and turn based RPGs on PS3. I think it's simply a game design style. I'm thinking of games like Crystalis for NES with its quick swordplay, but also inventory management and levelling up like an RPG. FF1 could have been like that. Conversely the original FF creators just came out with turn-based games like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon in the PS360 generation (Loved those games BTW).

The reason for FFs to be nowadays not that great compared to previous ones, it is because the mindset inprinted in the game is geared towards a new generation of gamers that.... well, have another point of view compared to us. Same thing could be said about the Tales Of... saga, whereas Phantasia, Eternia, Legendia were epic... the last ones have to have always a moe girl, a sort of emo/loner guy ... and so on.

So does anyone has these Video Games Live in lossless + their digital bonus tracks in lossless too?

Watch the new XV trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COZ4VDy5D0A), it has some lovely new music teased.

Don't worry guys, I'm no emo.

"According to director Tetsuya Nomura, Noctis will not have the "Cloud-like" personality, but that he will be a type of character not yet been seen in the series, one which Nomura has wanted to try out for a long time. Nomura says Noctis will have a strong and distinctive personality, and will not be a "silent, gloomy little boy"."

I would say these are good and kind of underdogs : (just going through my playlist from B to F, and only counting those I have more than 3 tracks of)

- Berserk ~Millenium Falcon Arc : Chapter of the Oblivion Flower (Especially "Blood's Tenacity", "Forces II" and "INDRA")

- Bloodrayne Betrayal (You've got both an orchestral soundtrack -la castlevania and a 8-bit NES cover of the OST - priceless ! -, my favs are "Dusk Falls", "Raven", "Vampire's Ball" and "Kagan - NES")

- Breath of Fire V - Dragon's Quarter ("Mid Sector Borough", "Power Supply Building", "Waste Abandonment Pit" and of course "A Distant Call")

- Deathsmiles (The full OST is a gem but some stand out like "Demonic Imperator" and "A Banquet of Blood and Madness Stained with Lovely Voices")

- Elemental Master // It's a Megadrive Game, not sure if an OST exists but 16bitaudiophileproject got you covered// ("Dance of Flame", "Blood Stained Lake", "Fate", and "Sorrowful Requiem")

Haha, just what Square needs, the PC master racers to give XIII a go and bitch about how boring and closed off it is after the first couple hours. :P
Seriously though, I really enjoyed XIII (might be the only person that can honestly say that). I'd get it if my PC resembled anything that had actual power.

Almost there.

Tetsuya got canned this week. Something I am not altogether against, just because he has been working on the project for over eight years now, and it's seen so many drastic changes in that time. But anyway, with Hajime Tabata now at the helm, it's possible things will change up. It's also possible that the game may actually get a release date too. But I do believe Tetsuya laid down a lot of foundation of the game that Tabata won't even touch. I guess it depends on how completed XV is. Based on how we've only seen two major trailers in two years, I'd say it's less than 40% done. But that's an estimated guess more than anything else.

40% would be horrible. That would mean that it wouldnt be release until 2016. All of that hype/high expectation for making up for Final Fantasy XIII, having longest development time in history, being a next gen game, financial problems the company has been having, making fans wait so long, a game 10 years in the making... This game better be good.. for SQUARE ENIX's sake.

Btw the knife is rusty because it's gonna be slow.

Okay guys, don't want to derail the thread too much, but can i ask what would be your top 3 can't live without BGM OSTs, basically the ones you'd take to the islolated Island ?

Need some Inspiration, kinda feeling like i've almost got all the good music in my Playlist, surprise me, pls.... ;)

Since you're probably looking for something not mentioned over and over, I'll try to mention 3 OST's not as well known as Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy, Zelda etc...

1.All over Xanadu
2.Brandish Piano Collection
3.Yasunori Mitsuda - An Cinniint

I would hereby like to use this opportunity to request these:

Final Fantasy Vocal Colletion

The links I have find via this thread are all ...wait for it...Dead. These are probably my favorite FF OST's but I lost them some time ago in a HDD accident.

Tabata says the game is 50-60% complete: (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=899234)

In terms of development, about 50 to 60 percent of the game is complete. We kind of started from the beginning of the game, so the first part is more complete than the others.

I find it funny that people have complained for a decade and a half that Final Fantasy has been in a downward slope (not my opinion) because they're not like the old games, and expect FF15 to be the greatest FF ever, even though its going to be the most radically different game of them all, and the furthest thing from old FF's we've ever seen, including Dirge of Cerberus and Chocobo Racing. I'd like to play the game myself, but alot of people are putting this title up on a pedestal to uber-hype levels/expectations it can't possibly deliver on.

This was a great read, I agree with most of what you wrote bu you can't forbid a fan to dream, can you? It's basically all we can do at this point of time. I too wish for XV to be the greatest of them all, something like FF7 on steroids would be a perfect metaphor for my expectation but that's just wishful thinking. Cheers

Sorry for offtopic...

Hi, I'm not sure if I can ask this here but does anyone know how to rip DVD into smaller size like mp4 or mkv? I got a couple of bonus DVD that comes with soundtrack but when I "ISO" it, each rip takes like 4GB+. Right now I'm kinda running out of HD space so need them compressed.
