Hello guys :)
First of all, a BIG thanks to you all for this (and also the old) thread.
As a fan of video game music and a maniac of sound quality, it's awesome !

However, I have a little problem with the Okami OST (here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/lossless-video-game-soundtrack-thread-links-first-64743/792.html#post2201154)). The disc 3 seems to be corrupted ; the extraction stucks at "121 Battle of Orochi II".
Is it me (on Mac with The Unarchiver), or can it be possible to re-upload ?

Thanks ! :)

How is that even possible?! It would probably take me at least 1.5 months to do so.

250 Mbps download, with around 50 Mbps upload. I upload around 6.25 MB/s on average on Mega. I RAR'd them all 1 by 1, then sent the giant list of files to upload. Went to sleep lol

Shouldn't this go in the Anime Lossless thread?
O_o

Indeedio. But while I'm at it, DanteUruzu, if you happen to have this one (http://vgmdb.net/album/2719) in lossless, drop it like it's hot, please.

Derp XD My apologies. I don't know why I was thinking it belonged in the Lossless Game thread.

My apologies BOSS LADY but I unfortunately do not have it in FLAC. If I ever come across it in FLAC, though, I will upload it here. :-)

More interesting offerings :P

They are indeed. And by the way, I'm very curious while truly lazy to download, but I was wondering about the Aladdin II and Jyu-Oh (both): are they any good? If the cover is any indication, I'm guessing Jyu-Oh has some African influences. But then again with have game series like Dynasty Warriors whose soundtracks are anything but what one would actually expect...

So lazy nowadays... PM me if anything needs to be reuploaded, or something.

What a load of poppycock, mister! So sorry, but no; I don't think lazy is the proper adjective to use, especially considering that monster of a post. Just no. It's clear as day that you're a neat freak, with a hint of OCD - no lazy individual would ever consider to even bother making such a methodical and well-organized post like you have...maybe a semi-articulate post whining about nonsense, but not this.

What I'm trying to say and get at is, kudos, and thanks for giving me more stuff to download, you inconsiderate, munificent nobleman. =)

Well, here's a wild thought: since it indeed isn't "rare" or "super expensive", buy it yourself and share it with us all. The album can be found over here at Otaku.com (http://otaku.com/products/15780), which is a very well-known place to buy VGM, so it makes me wonder why you haven't done so already and made a rip of it yet...

I've only really listened to the Hokuto no Ken ones, they're actually almost the same except Pachislot Hokuto no Ken Original Soundtrack has a few extra tracks at the end :P

I found about it just recently, so I haven't really had the time to truly think about it. I did look at some listings on CDJapan and Play-Asia, and considering I've got some points for CDJapan I might be able to get it with "free" shipping...

So, maybe sometime soon!

Also to those that do not like downloading from Mega.. This will save your lives.. Also Firefox is now the more recommended browser to use Mega with (except folder uploads).
Anyways, if using Firefox or Chrome does not work for you.. Try this. https://mega.co.nz/#!3AkXyJIL!Zf_fIg8jC9770SYqLwuJRVOIB9ticuJDu83PHVM lPEw

Are you sure you have a Baby, and not you are the Baby being hold in the arms of someone ?

"look at my bad ass Link wallet.Unfortunately its empty cause i spend all my peanuts on it."

I don't even like peanuts. Yes I am sure I have a baby, his name is Dallas. And the wallet isn't empty, it has my Paypal card, my ID, SSN, Medical Insurance cards, and about $60 in it lol.

And face it, you know my wallet is bad ass.

Edit: For those that were unable to download Twilight Symphony due to the Temporarily Unavailable problem.. PM me for a the new link..

FORMAT = Flac 44.1khz
Compression = Level 8
Composer = Soichi Terada
Year = 1999
Size = 1.25GB
Number of Tracks = 46

I take no credit for the original .minipsf file rips.

Files are tagged, added a 1417X1417 cover.jpg, and has a cue file made with cuetools CUETools Download - CUETools wiki (http://cuetools.net/wiki/CUETools_Download)

Also to the best of my knowledge, "minipsf" is a lossless format, so there is no loss in sound quality going from "minipsf to "flac".

I used foo_psf found here kode's foobar2000 plug-ins (http://kode54.foobar2000.org/) to play the files in foobar, then I converted it using foo_converter which used flac 1.2.1.exe

To those wanting the original soundtrack in a lossless format, this is the closest you will probably get as there is no official release for this CD.

Not really sure what it is missing but its pretty complete as it has all of the main songs. :D ENJOY!

That is probably the first fully true thing I've seen you say in like, fuckin... eons, Vegeta.

*slow clap*

aati: I don't have a wallet.

R.C.S.B.: Are those personal rips? Just curious. If they are, you might want to label that, because people like to see personal rips ;) Well, I know I'm that pedantic old coot that keeps track of that kind of stuff, anyway.

So ITT, we have a female pretending to be male and a male pretending to be female. You've gotta find some humor in that.

No, they aren't. Like I said on my previous post, my intention is just help the thread all the way I can, and the only phisical soundtrack I have is the DKC2's one (already posted), so I'm just posting the ones in my collection that I didn't see here. Unfortunately.

My suspicious is, they are talking about Boss Lady.

In my post, I was referring to Hellacia and Boss Lady respectively, so you are correct.

When I posted that, I was half joking. After over 10 years of being on the internet and having been across a myriad of communities, I've learned for certain that on the internet, the likelihood of a person's gender being what they claim is inversely proportional to how much effort they put into claiming it - that is, the more you see people proving to other people that they are male or female, the less likely it is true. This is because people just don't go around reminding people of their gender unless they have a reason to do so, like something to prove by it. Boss Lady, you may very well be female. It's not impossible, despite what the rule 16 of the internet says. But the reason that rule exists is because there is a staggering amount of occasions in which a male is posing as a female on the internet, and it has become a stereotype in that it is true almost all of the time, and so people just say it is true all of the time.

The real "giveaway", so to speak, is your excessive use of female dialect and feminine expressions combined with the occasional gender-drop (to remind everyone about how female you are). It just screams that you're actually a male hoping to pass himself off as a female, because females are rare and mystical on the internet and you want everyone to give you the attention that females typically attract. In reality, males and females aren't really that distinguishable by the way they post on the internet, because it's just text, and neither of them are trying to be what they are. I'm not trying to be male right now. I'm just sitting here typing stuff, and however I end up sounding in your head is how I end up sounding. I'm not trying to sound a certain way.

I'm not saying this to you to square off against you, Boss Lady. I'm saying it to you genuinely. All of this "oh you" and "sweetheart" and use of off-beat, quirky things to call people like "twaddler" is just really fake. Drop the act and speak normally. Be yourself. Even if that is a female. Nobody talks like that, on or off the internet. I'm not saying you're not really a female, but this act really makes it look like you're not, and that's what I mean when I say I was half joking; I don't know for certain that you're a fake female, but the fake act you're putting on sure makes you look like one. Again, just be yourself.

As for you, Hellacia... I don't know what to say about you because this is probably the first time I've seen an instance where a female could possibly be posing as a male. You're either a rare and mystical internet female like others in this thread have said you are, or you're a male that's posing as a female... that's posing as a male. And if that's the case, you are really out there. If you say you're male, I believe you, since it's easier to believe than the alternative (which is that a rare and mystical internet female has actually graced us with her presence). But I could be falling for... some kind of act. Actually, it's all very confusing.

...In fact, I need to find a cool soundtrack to post or something, these politics are a little silly.
tl;dr version: Boss Lady and Hellacia, just be yourselves. Seriously.

This is just a fair warning to anyone that is looking to rip any new VGM..

DO NOT USE A CD-R, OR USE A VIRTUAL DRIVE TO EXTRACT AUDIO CONTENT.. USE THE ORIGINAL CD WITH A NORMAL CD DRIVE!!

CD-R's are normally inaccurate (about 90% of them), and Virtual Drive's usually cause read offset errors.

CD-R or an ISO is rather pointless as it's already been copied. All CD copying apps (Nero, IMGburn, CloneCD etc.) use the same process as EAC's "Burst Mode" in doing a blind read, which is the worst way to do for the obscure PCM format that CDDA uses as you will always be missing heaps of samples :(

Vegeta: what was the thing about CD-Rs about? I did various tests with CD-Rs and PlexTools back when I got my PX-716A, and every single test came out identical to the original CD. CRCs, pregaps, ISRCs... all matches. Don't know where the inaccurate bit is coming from. EAC is capable of burning accurate CDs as well (although I remember that in the past it had trouble with getting pregaps to work exactly).

It mostly has to do with Ripping. Sure you can burn a CD-R all you want, it just highly advised to use the original CD when ripping though.

It mostly has to do with Ripping.

I'm talking about ripping. Like I said, all the CRCs matched across all the numerous CDs I burned. You don't get CRCs from burning, Vegeta, you get them from ripping -__- I tested a few different manufacturers of CD-Rs, too. Everything worked perfectly.

Obviously, if you have the original, just use that. I don't know why anyone would use a CD-R. It seems lame. But if you ripped from your original copy and then it got scratched later, you could burn a copy. Assuming you bothered to extract ALL the subchannel code like ISRCs, etc and you burn it ALL back onto the CD, yeah, you could make an exact duplicate of an original CD, and if you ripped from it, the two rips would be literally indistinguishable from each other.

This is only if you REALLY, REALLY know what you are doing though.

Just my opinion rips from CD-R's should be disallowed. In my experience most people just convert mp3's to wav and burn it to a CD-R. This would show in the spectrum when frequencies cut off at a certain range. Depends on the encoder though. A log from the original pressed copy and ripped CD-R should be required then to help combat it a little, but then again the spectrum doesn't lie! :D

It is always recommended to use the original first, if that is not an option and you have no friends or no other way of getting a hold of another original, then CD-R would be next option. However since 95% of people are retarded, there is a high chance of getting CRC mismatch ( meaning the CD-R didn't match what the original was ). I am not saying you are stupid by any means.. I'm sure you are a very smart girl.

That's where AccurateRip is actually useful, as it will confirm whether the copy is an exact match or if there are errors. From my experience, even if burning of a CD-R is done carefully (using cue sheets and low burn speeds), there are often still errors in the rip, like Vegeta said. If you rip using AccurateRip, then it will tell you it does not match any database records and that the track is therefore insecure, even if test & copy methods produce the same CRC values, since the error is in the source and not the reading.

I kept running into this problem too. This is why I much rather prefer original over CD-R.. how ever if original is not an option.. I'll gladly take a CD-R as long as its not burned from MP3 files lol

It's possible to create a CD-R that will give you a rip identical to a factory pressed CD in terms of ripped audio, CUE sheet data, LOG info, etc, but I really can't recommend it if you have an original. Also, for certain CDs, you would have to have a CD drive that overwrites into the Lead-In/Lead-Out. From what I can see, these drives are very rare.

I thought the price was a bit high. A site I visit is normally at 5,000 users online during peek hours (drops to around 2,000 at night time). And they pay around $900 with no problems, but they are also hosting other stuff like a tracker, and irc server.. tracker being highly used... If its just for the forums and this other "Hotel" place.. shove the files onto like 1 big Mega account, and save $ .. -_-

people getting their panties in a twist about others ripping CD-Rs and sharing them in this thread seem like the types who are taking those uploads and uploading them to torrent trackers in attempt to boost their stats there and then when some discerning downloader goes the extra mile to check it out and reports the upload they've likely been warned and left scratching their head in frustration as to why it happened. if that's not a big signpost to rip your own material and upload onto the likes of those sites then i don't know what is.

If you rip using AccurateRip, then it will tell you it does not match any database records and that the track is therefore insecurenot actually what that means at all. since you all are now chirping on the subject of CD-R rips, AccurateRip would come in handy to compare an existing submission in its database against the likes of the CD-R (assuming one could determine the existing submission was from an officially pressed disc - which would rely on knowing what the disc's table of contents were, etc). of course this is not foolproof, given the existence of bootlegs, repressed CDs and all the other shit that happens which means that one guy could just as easily rip a bootleg and that could be the standing submission in the AR database and when someone else rips the officially released disc it would return an incorrect match due to differences from the bootleg.

also, since we all know invariably that two pages of discussion is just going to get swept out of the thread, i'll say it -

Jessie, I've been struck by a sudden and perhaps dumb idea: what do you think about wiping out this Database and have folks get used to the old and classy single-thread-for-soundtrack/series?! Even this second incarnation of the Lossless-VG-Thingy seems to generate way too much drama for what it's worth.

@BOSSLADY
You wish I would fully pay attention to you, that's not the case and if anything you act like many spoiled girls out there, that pretty much makes me think... "Ah... a girl making less of men at it's best, thinking they can stomp on whatever they want just because she is girl, poor thing that has been misguided by it's apparent surroundings with nobody telling her earlier what's going on"

@mooseandtips
Refer to my past posts and see why Hellacia is reacting like that. I however don't like his way to address the situation he gets very mad and leaves diplomacy at the very last. Don't think because this is the internet you have the right to behave with arrogance under an anonimous cloak, for it that's a cowardly act itself. I repeat, READ and do it toughtfully, because if anything the world needs more conscious reading than anything else.

I did say mine was a silly proposal. Honestly, though, and downright serious.... I'm thinking of suggesting Jessie to offer a cool-time/timeout period to some users... on both sides.

Someone has surely started this mess, but those who "dragged" it this far aren't any less guilty to my eyes. Now I'll take another proofread and then give my suggestions to Jessie.

This is my opinion.
Is there really a point? In any situation where there are people in mass communicating with each other, there's ALWAYS going to be disagreements/altercations. So what would be the point of doing anything knowing that? It’s not like this happens every day or every week. It would be EXTREMELY unrealistic thinking there shouldn’t be any altercations and that we’ll all join hands, happily skipping across a vast colorful, grassy field, singing gay/peaceful tones in a sunny day with a beautiful bright rainbow in the horizon. (Note: Gay has multiple meanings. You forgot?)

By banning all you doing is postponing it until a later time and at the end of the day, that “guy” is still gonna hate that “lady”. Wouldn't it be more effective to just let them go at it, wait until they’re both stated their opinions, then after they shut up, just resume as usual? If it drags on for too long (after a few days) THEN you may intervene or do whatever you usually do.
Also, even if you're disturbing the peace, you're still providing LOSSLESS MUSIC that everyone wants. Banning just reduces the distribution of said music and makes me sad.

In other words: Cuz if there was some bitch I didn't like, I’d want to tell her that she’s a BITCH then why she’s a bitch then MAYBE after that, that BITCH ASS ain’t gonna be such a BITCH afterwards, know what I'm saying?
But at the end of the day, she STILL makes me good ass chicken sandwiches so I can forgive her ass.

Then having it all get taken down for copyright 6 months later.

@aati: Understandable and agreeable position, still, a ban... though a temporary solution... is among the best solutions which could be afforded on an Internet community.

Point taken, still, wasn't it clear enough I was hoping for more lively discussions... how should we call them... in/on-topic? Fool's hope, I guess, given the audience I'm not too surprised, though. At any rate: what makes you think that your "lively" intolerance of such stuff should be any more tolerable? Your "overreacting" may be justified, Hellacia, but you fuel this crap when it happens, therefore, you become part of the problem.

As an individual, I don't honestly care if BOSS LADY is a fake or not. Do I have reasons/evidence to believe she's actually a female? Nope. Do I have reasons/evidence NOT to believe it? Again, nope. In regards to her attitude, on the issue at hand, it seems others randomly switched the focus on her... Evidence there for everyone to see, would have others being banned for something akin to "harassment".

I did say mine was a silly proposal. Honestly, though, and downright serious.... I'm thinking of suggesting Jessie to offer a cool-time/timeout period to some users... on both sides.

I suggested this idea months ago. I'm not sure why you're always so insistent on waving the "LOOK OUT OR WE'LL PUNISH YOU ALL" flag when it's usually the same people derailing the thread, and you could simply time them out for a day or two. Why let a few apples ruin the bunch? There's plenty of users here who do nothing wrong, and actually contribute to this compendium, to shut it all down because a handful of people can't keep their cool.

Short temp bans just sounds like a good idea, considering before you were going on about how you have to spend time moderating a thread that ideally shouldn't need moderated. Just a few clicks and the fighting stops for a few days. Don't even need to take the time to delete the shitposts, because it'll quickly be forgotten when the topic continues with smooth sailing.

Some stuff
2nding this. It will only repeat itself unless a conclusion is drawn. Either everyone dukes it out, or they get permabanned. My temp ban idea is really only for when people are absolutely fed up with it, or it happens far too regularly.

This Boss Lady shit is a joke, and anybody who takes it like a bitch and doesn't say anything about it is just as bad or worse.

Well, I've talked to Jessie about this, too... and we agree on the fact that a temporary-ban wouldn't solve a thing. As you and aati rightly pointed out, as soon as such users come back.... so does the "crap". As for permanent-ban, the situation doesn't look serious enough to use them, not to mention that there isn't a permaban which can't be circumvented, somewhat... Actually, there is one, but it's rather drastic and mostly intertwined with the real world (yes, as bad as it sounds, I am talking about the user's death). Don't jump at me, eh, I'm just pointing out. We'll see if this thing needs to close... And you wouldn't really lose anything, folks, there's a Videogame Music Download Links forum out there, releases would just move "there", in their own threads.

Hellacia, here's a warning for you: I hope you realize you've become exactly the kind of self-entitled and bossy bitch you complain about, your superior logic should grant you the ability to understand as much, but as things stand I won't repeat the mistake of taking stuff for granted. Keep going at it, and you might just be the first to actually leave.

Moreover, and if I may, Leon: what matter of importance and relevance does my gender have to do with anything? Truly there are other things on here that we can occupy ourselves with other than picking on stuff nobody cares.

There's no need to keep quibbling over pennies here; if you don't like me, or anyone else for that matter, duly use the ignore user function. It is as simple as that, and I'm going to keep repeating it until I'm blue in the face. It's under Settings > My Settings > My Account > Edit Ignore List > Add a Member to Your List... > click Okay. Presto. I'm not a one-hundred bill, so it's obvious I'm not going to be of everyone's liking, but taking it as far as this for no absolute reason is beyond ridiculous.

With all honesty, I wasn't deserving of the treatment I was the target of, especially when I didn't do anything to deserve it. The first time you all took jabs at me because you basically took a joke (entirely of self-deprecation) too seriously, and now it's because of my gender and the way I "go about around here". Like I said previously: you're all free to believe whatever you want, as I'm free to care any less in return.

In essence, what I'm trying to say is let's stop with the pettifoggery. This thread is far too bountiful to deserve such derailments.

I just wanted to say that and take it out of my chest. Please, everyone, let's turn the page and carry on.

It's must be because people got really excited knowing that there was a female present in this forum...
Having been conveyed news that a female, one among the rarest of specimens on the internet, was a contributor in the forum brought wondrous bliss into the lives of its community. They all talked, shared, even laugh together. They were happy at last! But then, amongst them, was one that started to question this ladys legitimacy. He carefully watched her moves, gathering all he could then preceded to voiced his doubts, theorizing that she may in fact be a full grown male with a large set of testicles! Then, as those rumors spread, there was nothing but chaos! The happiness that the committee had was based on an outlandish lie! Amidst the flushed state the people were experiencing, of knowing that their arousal was in reality targeted towards a MALE, they, with all of their might, preceded to take REVENGE on their "PERCEIVED" deceiver and so the story continues...

Took a long time to write this...

My personal opinion on the whole crap as Gabriele Cavalli,, BOSS LADY, is that somebody wanted to show you... to use a metaphor... how he/she can be a worse bully than you. Pretty fine job, if I must say so myself, but that had the counter-effect to put such folk(s) in a fairly worse situation than yours... on the "line".

Seriously, doing what you've been originally accused of: owning the thread... giving the goddamn piece of mind about everyone and everything... Last, but not least... Being an annoying asshole.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I admit I'm very opinionated, but I try to be polite...unless I'm dealing with a dolt. Not everything is foolproof.

First and foremost, if you like this soundtrack I would recommend checking anything by Kow Otani.

As for recommendations, I'll be succinct in telling you that Drakengard has a very particular soundtrack that I think you'd like. Perhaps some Monster Hunter would be of your liking, too.

It's supposed to be that way: cheerful and comical. Clearly both the title AND the cover art reflect this. Uematsu has stated that album represents his life, and actually one of the songs in it was written when he was a tyke. He's more than just FINAL FANTASY, you know?

Sure he is I love phantasmagoria and other games he did, but this sucks.

Man, in reality, I never played this game (yet), but I heard a lot of good stuff about it, especially about the soundtrack, and when I downloaded it, I found why =)
That's really good stuff. I hope that I can play it someday, looks like the game itself is epic. I don't know the composer's work very much, since I like more "classic" stuff, like Mario, Kirby, Zelda... This was an exception.

And R.C.S.B.? That's just a nickname that I've adopted in my "Guitar Hero" era, when I was posting some scores in "Scorehero.com", the GH's most famous pontuation website. They are still there lol
They are the inicials of my full name: Robert Chrystian da Silva Bezerra
Simple, isn't it? =)

Some facts: (1) Nobody needs lossless. (2) VBR V0 is better than CBR320. Vorbis is even better. (3) Keeping your system and software updated is the best way to stay out of trouble. The "Never change a running system" statement is nonsense. It leads to people using 3yr old software and then complaining about bugs.

I like your quote but it doesn't make sense. No one "needs" lossless, they prefer it. Since VBR varies and peaks at 320, how can that be better then CBR at 320? You may not be able to hear the difference but on a lossy level I don't see how it is better just saves space. MPEG4 Audio (AAC) is the best for size vs. quality not ogg vorbis. IMO any CBR at 256+ sounds the same as CDDA.

1. Point
2. I agree about the 320 CBR being better than the VBR. I'm guessing he's referring to the small quality difference between the two vs. the file size difference. Alot of people prefer VBR V0 for this reason. I'm not sure about AAC being "better" than Ogg. Ogg seems to have smaller sizes at similar bitrates, and obviously goes much higher than other codecs. Of course the really important factor is what information is being kept/discarded. As he's pointed out before, you could double the bitrate of MP3 and it still won't offer much advantage because it's still based on what information the codec chooses to keep.
And it depends on alot of factors; your ears, environment, speakers, quality, probably even the song itself, etc.

vbr v0 is better - it provides the bitrate when needed, it reduces it also when needed, it's not like there's a point to have quiet piano only track in cbr 320 now is there?

Despair
07-10-2013, 10:55 AM
Piano, no. But VBR V0 does cut off more frequencies than 320CBR. Personally, I've never seen a track encoded in VBR get above ~260kbps, even watching the bitrate changes in foobar.

cooljacker
07-10-2013, 10:57 AM
I've seen a lot of vbr v0 tracks with 280-290 kbps average and sure as hell gets to 320 peak many times.

It depends on the source material of course - a non-stop rock/drum & bass song will get extremely high v0 average bitrate...

VBR is constantly changing decoding speeds for every frame of the song file which is why I personally don't like it. Also the higher a bitrate and file size of the song, the more work the cpu has to do converting it to audio therefore distorting the sound slightly. Smaller bit rates also help with battery life on mobile devices. People say the audio is converted and buffered onto the ram but when I listen I can't help but notice a difference maybe its just me.

Already posted this in a thread I'd created but I thought I'd share it here :)

Decided to collect and collate the music from each of the music players in the collection menu of the PSP brawler YS VS Sora No Kiseki: Alternative Saga. Each track was ripped directly from the ISO file which I downloaded from the internet and each track was named accordingly. For the tracks that appeared in Japanese, it was either a song I knew the English title of or one that required me to hunt around various websites and YouTube to find the correct name for it. Current albums I have done so far include the games Original Soundtrack, the VS Battle music and the YS collection. Left to do is the VS Event, Legend of Heroes collection and Falcom collection and they will be added as a new post in this thread once they have been done. Enjoy

MP3V0 is better because it achieves the same "perceived" quality (using psychoacoustics methods) as MP3 320 does but with a smaller file size.
You can technically say that MP3 320 is better because of the higher cut-off frequency but 99% of people can’t hear those frequencies anyways. (Unless you’re one of those that can feel them.)
Think of it as Xvid vs H.264. (More like CBR h264 vs CRF h264.)
Xvid 100MB = H264 50MB
Same quality but h264 is 50% smaller therefore better.

Most of you that think that MP3 320 sounds better, I guarantee that for 99% of you, it's placebo.

Both in wavpack format, extracted accurately by a good drive (NEC chipset based) which can report C2 errors and overread into lead-out. Open the zip.001 file through 7-Zip and extract the contents. Or you can concatenate (copy /b "file1.001"+"file2.002" "final file.zip") the parts into a single file to get a standard .zip file.

Why not convert them yourself to 320MP3?

Why not convert them yourself to 320MP3?

Because converting an MP3 format to another MP3 format is considered transcoding and is a very stupid idea to do, it reduces the quality even more. Let me explain it in simple terms..

V0 is around 256 VBR (veriable average bitrate). Converting v0 to 320 CBR (Constant Bitrate), the file would show it as 320 Bitrate, but in actuality the quality is masked, and is still 256 VBR. The only true way of converting without losing quality is taking from CD > FLAC > MP3, or CD > MP3. Not MP3 > MP3, or MP3 > CD > MP3. Transcodes are a horrible thing. And to those people out there that want to keep making bad transcodes, you can DIAF (not talking about Tanis).

Hey I like about 10-15 % of what OCRemix albums have to offer. I don't like the rest but can't say it's bad... ^^"it's ok to be opinionated. i'm of the opinion that quantity doesn't equal quality when it comes to OCRemix albums. and, of course, for some insane reason these guys on OCR today seem to think that turning in a lazy dubstep style remix is something to be proud of. i have the utmost respect for the OCR users who have actually composed their own albums (like the HyperDuck guys, just to go with one example) but otherwise believe that most of the time they'd be better off leaving the big works (Final Fantasy, etc.) alone when it comes to remix something for a big OCR project.

It's always been that way, with whatever genre is flavour of the month in the dance music scene. Go back a decade and it was wall to wall uninspired trance remixes.a fair point i suppose, but all things considered, the trance and techno styled beats have always been there. i guess whenever they get together they immediately assume remixes need to be in the style or something. this fascination with dubstep is confounding on an entirely separate level to me. (not that someone has done it, though it wouldn't surprise me if they have) but a dubstep variation on something like One Winged Angel would just be sad.

Honestly I don't understand this OCR "bashing". You should keep in mind that the focus is on remixing, not rearranging, so of course you always see a lot of different styles on the respective albums. You could call this incohesive, and yes, I agree that it's not for everyone. However OCR also did Chrono Symphonic: A Cinematic Interpretation (http://vgmdb.net/album/5369), which is more in line with the "arrange album with main style" thing.

Apart from that I liked these:
Kong in Concert: Donkey Kong Country An Arrangement Collaboration (http://vgmdb.net/album/5357)
Thieves of Fate: Radical Dreamers ReMix Project (http://vgmdb.net/album/6407)
Humans + Gears: Xenogears ReMixed (http://vgmdb.net/album/15579) (primarily the first disc)

I'm currently listening to the new Wild Arms album, which has some nice tracks. Not very far into it though, and I'm probably biased since Michiko Naruke is my waifu :awsm:

Honestly I don't understand this OCR "bashing". You should keep in mind that the focus is on remixing, not rearranging, so of course you always see a lot of different styles on the respective albums.I'm not bashing it per se, aside from anything else it's great that there's a place where people can share their stuff and get feedback etc. It's just that the formula of "(popular electronic music genre) + (classic videogame soundtrack) = remix album" ran its course for me a long time ago.

I did check out the Kong in Concert album but I don't remember thinking much of it. I'll try the Radical Dreamers one. Thanks for the suggestions, anyway.

BEWARE THE QUOTES!

I liked a pretty good amount of the OCRemix they did for DKC2, but I do admit they ruined a few of the iconic songs for it by putting shitty lyrics into them...

Amen.

Personally, other than liking a very, very few selected number of tracks from some of their releases, I truly can't never bring myself to enjoy anything else that they put out; it's all dull and uninspiring for me. I think they need to stop "going with the times" and start being more individually progressive. And maybe I'm out of line, not that I care, but the place is also ran by two braggarts.

Are there arrangements on this CD ? (vgmdb says it is an "Original Soundtrack"...)

That's because it is strictly the original soundtrack.

Anyway, regarding your sig, MiL uploaded four Senko no Ronde soundtracks (forums.ffshrine.org/search.php?searchid=2731247), although only three are still online.

Most uploads come with a reference link or with sufficient info for you to put two and two together. If more information is what you want, then check VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net/db/main.php), Wikipedia, and/or GameFAQs/other video game-related website. Problemo finitо.

but I do admit they ruined a few of the iconic songs for it by putting shitty lyrics into them...that's another peeve of mine. i can appreciate the attempts at originality (besides, if i were to hate them for creating lyrics for something then i might as well hate anyone who is a mainstream rapper who raps over a video game music sample) but a lot of the times it comes across as incongruous to the sound itself.

Honestly I don't understand this OCR "bashing". You should keep in mind that the focus is on remixing, not rearranging, so of course you always see a lot of different styles on the respective albums. You could call this incohesive, and yes, I agree that it's not for everyone. However OCR also did Chrono Symphonic: A Cinematic Interpretation (http://vgmdb.net/album/5369), which is more in line with the "arrange album with main style" thing.not really bashing it. for every quality album they've put out, there's at least 3-4 that are not. yes, i get that it's a remix joint and most of the remixers aren't approaching it with attempts to rewrite a tune for synth orchestra, real orchestra or even one guy playing a fiddle in an echo-y bathroom.

A trance remix of a videogame tune is just as creatively unimaginative as a dubstep remix, though, that was all I was getting at.i got that, i was offering up my thoughts that this stuff lends itself better to the trance and techno style (unimaginative as it may still be) than it does dubstep.

you like FEZ? fuck yeah you like FEZ!

Just 200%ed the game after buying it yesterday, it kept me awake all night which is a miracle. So I wanted a momento, and with the soundtrack having so much noise, FLAC is the only format that would do it justice.

I am curious about this early development "demo soundtrack" I keep hearing about.

Thanks very much for re-upping it ^^

While we're on the subject of Fez, it's worth pointing out something quite neat about the soundtrack. If you haven't played the game but plan to, I would recommend you leave the spoiler alone.
You'll probably notice some audible noise here and there in various tracks. Turns out they're images that can be viewed via spectrogram. Some kind soul on the internet previously supplied a Dropbox gallery (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/85a9hmfaiezis28/bSmFn3aZjs#/) of these images for your perusal and approval. The consensus at large is that this is a unique puzzle of some sort, as Phil Fish confirmed in a Reddit Q&A (http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1aj74m/i_am_phil_fish_cocreator_of_fez_ask_me_anything/) that some secrets are still unsolved - specifically, "nobody's even come close to figuring out the soundtrack images, i [Phil Fish] can't just spoil it all right now!"
At any rate, thanks to all for the excellent soundtracks in excellent quality! I appreciate you.

Thanks very much for re-upping it ^^i am happy to help. i had originally uploaded it for the old thread but when Mediafire became a split archive Nazi i decided to take down the old files rather than have people constantly going "i can only get one part" and pissing everyone off until someone just reuploaded the whole thing somewhere.

seriously though, Mega didn't exist at the time. or rather i should say it wasn't available to public access. unless Mediafire does something to free accounts i don't like, i'm staying there.

not really bashing it. for every quality album they've put out, there's at least 3-4 that are not. yes, i get that it's a remix joint and most of the remixers aren't approaching it with attempts to rewrite a tune for synth orchestra, real orchestra or even one guy playing a fiddle in an echo-y bathroom.
I know I'm a little late on this conversation but I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks most of these "fan tributes" suck big time. When I play SSF2Turbo HD, I usually put the settings on original soundtrack. No wonder why in the last disc of the anniversary box, Capcom chose better fan arrangers. What is the point of making an arrangement from a chiptune if you are going to use synth and you do it like a beginner? The thing I hate the most about these OCR guys is that a lot of people thing they are like an authority in videogame music. Maybe I shouldn't talk this bad about them, to be honest I never get close to these fan arrangements, but the few I had the (bad?) luck to listen to, most of the times they turn out to be pure rubbish. And dont' think I don't know some Japanese also do it, I've listened to Woodsoft and, although they have a better quality than most, you end up realizing after a while they suck pretty much too, just like Vegeta said.

The captcha is annoying on mediafire. And what I've heard if you don't login your mediafire account every 30 days they delete your files (unless that got changed). I like Mega for a few reasons. I can seamlessly copy files from my server to my Mega account with hardly any delay between them. I can see what files are on my mega account from my server without ever going to their website.

Mediafire usually give you a few day warning email before they delete anything.

Thank you for your work but WV isn't a lossless format it is a hybrid lossy. I prefer Plextor Drives myself for the best C2 but some NEC are OK. Either way your rips are as best as you can get, but WavePack (wv) isn't lossless, it's a lossy format. You need to include the ".wvc" for lossless rebuild. This is why it's just so much easier to stick with FLAC or APE. Wavepack is a "hybrid" format like DTS-HD Master Audio where they are lossy streams and create an extra file to "rebuild" them back into lossless. Whereas FLAC is just a wrapper (like a zip file).

AccurateRip is very unreliable as the DB does not consider if the source was CDDA, CD-R or an ISO and it contains mixed results. You cannot rely on it. The best way is to use a drive with C2 reporting, use a secure read method (that is reading each sector at least 2 times) and dump the data w/o any E32 (CU) errors. But as I have said many times the CDDA format (or any audio format on CD) is crap and no 100% way to know if you made a perfect 1:1 copy...just how it is.

Wrong, the codec can operate both in hybrid or standard mode. And standard mode is the default.

Nah you'd get your butler to do it.

Have to say, the extra noise for the "easter eggs" really degrades the songs quite badly, it's really noticable.

And a lot of my favourite songs are missing it seems. Poor show for a FLAC release. Reminds me of Blurays where they add "Film noise" to the movie to "make it authentic". Put it on a superior format, but degrade it so badly that you might as well have picked the old format instead.
