Kind of a unique request here: does anyone have a lossless rip of the Wii and Wii U system sounds? I found this for the Wii U, but it's outdated and doesn't have the new themes like new eShop themes, etc.
Thread 186539
It'd be awesome to have FLAC rips of consoles! Especially for those nostalgic themes of the Wii Shop Channel, Photo Channel, Everybody Votes Channel, etc...

I believe either NUS downloader or the ModMii tool for hacking Wiis over at GBATemp might be helpful? Otherwise I'm not too sure myself. Let me know if you have any luck with the two I mentioned before I dive deeper.

Unfortunately, VGMdb often has terrible scans.
But of course it's best if you want to have the covers first, regardless of the quality.
Yes, I used Google and I put a lot of time into it. I would just like to have a high quality cover for every soundtrack I have.
But in some cases there simply wasn't.
Nevertheless, I will probably go back to VGMdb, is simply more pleasant. Unless the cover is too small, I'll look elsewhere.

Well, blog post, amazon.co.jp or other Japanese store websites, forums here and there...
Really depends on what, when, and how.
I don't think he was criticising VGMDB as much as sometimes the scans/pictures posted are old and low rez.
That's a given seeing as many entries are old now, or just too nich from the start.

It's not the first time too that it was talked about, but that's not something related to FFS only anyway.
Sadly, FFS interface doesn't reduce quotes' size automatically like many others (a neat feature in this kind of cases).
Just put the pics between [ spoiler ] tags and you're done: takes 5 seconds and doesn't burn people's eyes / taking too much space for nothing~

Common sense is: the interface should handle it (same as when you're replying to an email with attached images in it, you don't go removing them one by one, your email client does it on your behalf). I sincerely do not have the time to go reading every single message posted here to see if something was talked about or not and I frequently saw people quoting messages with many images in them in the past without someone being rude to them. If we're at it, you should extend your logic to people who post very large album art and who should therefore resize them in order not to burn people's eyes with them.

Yeah...
"Yeah" not.
Firstly, don't complain about an old and shaky tool while putting your expectations on it, that's also common sense.
Sure, It could be "easier" if it was managing stuff, but it doesn't mean people should do whatever they want just because the website is outdated AF.
As comparisons go: it's the same as having someone quotes orally many words of what said a precedent person, just to express at the end a simple "ok.": not worth it and just a pain for all.
As for the big pics and whatnots: they're not QUOTES. The difference should be self-explanatory... And another entire thing altogether.
The day there will be rules on that, people will have to comply. On the other hand, you don't need rules to understand why it's just a pain to read uselessly big quotes.
Hence ManRay reaction: don't quote big shiny pictures just for the sake of typing a tiny sentence afterwards. Period. Hence my reaction: if you MUST quote everything, the [ spoiler ] tag is here.
And frankly, most people can just edit part of the quote itself, to get to the point (and many if not most do).
You're talking about mobile phone, jokes on you, apparently you don't mind having to load and scroll over oversized quotes for nothing; still not "normal".
Also, if you don't care about reading the couple of precedent pages (yes, not even much than that), that's still on you. It's not that old.
Just don't show that you care about what someone said without much context, while admitting you don't really care to read the thread like anybody else should either.
Sure, he was caustic about it (you bad BAD ManRay) but that doesn't change much the message: "BAD. DON'T." =]
Easy to do when you're on a PC... Not so easy when you're replying very quickly on a smartphone...
Mobile lets you type pretty much anything a classic keyboard does. So putting two little tags isn't much of a pain to do.
If you're "very quickly" replying, again, that's on you. You don't have to, anyway.
If you can't do it properly "now", you can do it later.
Whatever float your boat, sure. But arguing that just typing [ spoiler ] and [ /spoiler] is hard because "mobile"? Naaah X3
Then again, why are we stuck with this ancient vBulletin version in the beginning?
The same reason the website is dying slooooooowly but surely: have to do with what is offered at hand.
At least, it's still working (when it's not down) for now ='[

I've a freaking Samsung S3 for 7 years now, works kinda like a potato when browsing the Net, but it's still easy to type whatever I want with it.
Sure it's not "as" practical as many other physical options (I really miss my older phone with its nice joystick... sniff), but let's not argue that just
putting [ spoiler] [/spoiler ] at the beginning and end of a quote is THAT hard =']
(and if it really is for you, then just put a simple "..." in place of the quoted text or something)
Now if you were to say "making an entire post full of tags", I would totally agree with you~
It would be as hardcore as playing DDR like a Japanese nerd, but with fingers on a touchscreen.

Just a small question, if I use ReplayGain with Foobar on a album, should I use:
'scan as a single album' then 'apply album replaygain to file content' or 'apply track replaygain to file content'?
1337haXXor
08-08-2019, 01:03 PM
Definitely don't apply it to the file, as that will modify it. You can scan as an album or single track and just have Foobar apply ReplayGain. Scan as album is mostly for "albums," as opposed to collections of songs; I only use it for the old Classic Rock albums (Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Moody Blues, etc.), where you want to hear a large dynamic range

That's fine for me, it doesn't change the quality, also 'cause I don't use foobar to hear my music and

not every player can read the replaygain data from the tags.

So for albums 'scan as a single album' and then 'apply album replaygain to file content' and not 'apply track replaygain to file content', okay.

Do you guys, like, not use phones? Because if you did, you'd know how annoying it is to place your cursor in the middle of a body of text, making editing quotes tedious on mobile. I get it /shouldn't/ be an excuse but don't pretend that it doesn't exist.
Been on a Galaxy S4 since '13; I stopped checking forums with it not because replying was too hard, but because it was annoying tracking which threads/replies I hadn't seen yet. Also longer replies wouldn't wrap properly on some places, so the only workaround was to use screen rotation.

Random question, but does anyone know of a site that specializes in high resolution scans of album art and booklets? I just downloaded some high res scans of an album, 60 images, 5 GB, and wish all my albums could be like that. The music sites I'm on sadly don't allow uploading just scans, so for albums that already exist without them, it's impossible for scans to be uploaded.

I mean, Riot is definitely much safer and I love it, but it's a big hurdle for most people to get into, because the answer to the question "why Riot instead of Discord" being simply "privacy" isn't enough to get enough people to jump on board, unfortunately... Though it has a much lower chance of being detected/shut down plus I'd imagine we'd be able to share things that are unshareable here on the shrine. I like telegram, but you need a phone number and as far as I understand, only the private messages are encrypted, where Riot encrypts everything.

I agree that Discord is the way to go. It may not be the most private option, but it's definitely one of the most popular ones. If the mods agree to pin the link and the biggest contributors join it, it might just work. Not as replacement to this forum, of course, but in case it goes down for good.

Trypetide
08-15-2019, 12:00 PM
Wow, I wasn't talking about "substitute to the final countdown of FFS", just when it was temporarily down.
Still, it would work as a replacement if people managed it correctly, but isn't viable security and privacy wise, indeed.
If RIOT works the same more or less, then why not.
Will still need people to manage and think things through if you really want a "substitute".
The only thing that could replace FFS when it's definitely down is a proper made replacement, that can be easily kept and motivate people to stay.
So, apart from again another attempt like the failed ones we had in the past (but that succeeds this time around), I don't see that coming any time soon =]
Leon Scott Kennedy
08-15-2019, 12:22 PM
There already is an unofficial FFShrine Discord server (
Thread 215617), but you're probably better off setting up your own, folks (mainly for management reasons I suppose).
Also, if memory serves me right, we already had multiple attempts from various users to "backup" this thread's links (on the likes of Blogger/Blogspot, Pastebin, just to name a few…). All of those… "Alternatives" eventually died, by that I obviously mean their curators stopped/lost interest in maintaining them (just like ZodiacMaster, for whatever reason, seems to have done with this thread).
I'm personally not opposed to putting up a link somewhere in the main post, if you'll ever decide to go through with the umpteenth attempt to save this stuff, all I ask is that you keep the "advertisement" at a reasonable level: your signature.
Now, some of the oldest users of this thread should remember the warning I gave a few years ago - the moment this thread becomes once again a nuisance to other members of the community, or someone stirs shit up, I delete the whole thing and the troubling folks go right along with it.
I closed this thing twice, already, third time's going to be the charm… Look at the silver lining, though, you won't have to spend any effort in saving links/etcetera.
Also, last unrelated thing: if you browse this board on a mobile phone, that's on you. Try to not bother the Staff simply because someone is causing you to spend extra seconds scrolling (to the older guys: your memory sucks, I told you something along those lines when the same kind of complaints were made… Remember when a certain BOSS LADY was active around here? I do, you got me to intervene back then, but not in the way you liked).

I don't have many 'retro' games aside from PS2 and GCN games, and PS1 games as hand me downs I play on emulation. (that should say a lot). ❋The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D Official Soundtrack (
http://vgmdb.net/album/26628)❋
I got this album from the Nintendo Club after registering the game there. According to vgmdb it features: "50 tracks from the game, many never before released. 1 fully orchestrated medley specially recorded for the soundtrack."
Also what I found out is that there are 2 versions of it, one only available in North America and one (this version) for the rest of the world. It seems though that both don't differ at all.

Duh. Past songs are chiptunes unless ported elsewhere.
If so then you won't get a better version, sadly ( ╹ ︿ ╹)
There are several releases (including betas) with MMP Red Book which haven't got that glitch around that section, so you can do some stitch-up and make a bit-perfect version. I once did, but then thought it was overkill and turned to chiptunes instead.
Trypetide
08-19-2019, 12:26 PM
Hence the "get", as it's easier to "make" one for sure ;)
But overkill it is not? lol
Happens all the time, not the first time ever that a soundtrack/redbook would host a bunch of default.
Official soundtracks obviously being more of a problem as paying for faulty products is kinda harsh ( >_>)

While I'm still chipping away at my to-do list (Recent events have gotten in the way of me finishing off my Team Sonic Racing Original Soundtrack Maximum Overdrive CD-rip, but it's looking like I can get back to it again), I thought I'd share some lossless-related news.
VGMDB (
https://vgmdb.net/album/88978) has caught onto this, but Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown will be seeing a 6CD soundtrack release by SweepRecord (
https://sweeprecord.com/srin-1162/) between 22nd November 2019 & 3rd December 2019.
I also just discovered today that some former staff from now-defunct major video game music label Sumthing Else Music Works (
https://vgmdb.net/org/25) have since formed Skill Tree Records (
https://skilltreerecords.com/store), who have so far partnered (
https://skilltreerecords.com/partners) with eight companies previously partnered with Sumthing Else including 343 Industries, Double Fine Productions, THQ Nordic & Square Enix and restored/renewed digital market availability for video game music such as the Halo franchise, Darksiders & Red Faction series, and most recently Deus Ex: Human Revolution & Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
I bring this up as although their store sells their music in MP3 nor do they seem to have spread their releases to digital lossless storefronts (At least for any that went down such as for Qobuz), they do provide lossless formats for site purchases should you contact their support (Just as Sumthing Else's did when I made such an inquiry) and are planning on physical releases too, but mainly Vinyl:
https://twitter.com/skilltreerecord/status/1107791168128073728
And not to leave without something meaningful, I did just provide a reupload for the Soundcloud-released 24bit Lossless soundtracks for Star Wars Battlefront [EA Version/2015] (
https://soundcloud.com/gordyhaab/sets/star-wars-battlefront-soundtrack-edits-gordy-haab-only) & Star Wars Battlefront II [EA Version/2017] (
https://soundcloud.com/gordyhaab/sets/star-wars-battlefront-ii-original-soundtrack), along with the 'Sullust Music Suite FULL (
https://soundcloud.com/gordyhaab/026-mus-sullust-main-theme-full)', 'Hoth Alliance, Into Battle (
https://soundcloud.com/gordyhaab/hoth-alliance-into-battle-star-wars-battlefront)' & 'Sullust's Harsh Terrain (
https://soundcloud.com/gordyhaab/sullusts-harsh-terrain-star-wars-battlefront)' tracks for the relevant topic (
Thread 228992), but here's a quick copy-paste for anyone interested:
Star Wars Battlefront (2015/EA Version)
https://www.mediafire.com/file/0h992s5sg43ovp7/SWBF2015_OST_(WAV_24bit_Files).7z/file
Star Wars Battlefront II (2017/EA Version)
https://www.mediafire.com/file/0ulw2z6txhjt4fc/SWBFII2017_OST_(WAV_24bit_Files).7z/file
I did make additions such as Track Names, Composer, Performer, Cover (As were provided/used on Soundcloud), etc. (There's also the 'Full Credits.txt' with all the staff credits from the games), but I removed no detail that came with the original files nor changed their file-names. But if you want the files completely untouched, I did keep backups of those, so I'd be happy to oblige.

Can anyone direct me to a complete and tagged rip of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass? I prefer FLAC, but if anyone has a 320kbps rip, that would also suffice. Thank you.

I was wondering if anyone has the CD that comes with NJBP Concert Archives 1 ~ANCIENT FESTIVAL~. I may pick it up myself if it hasn't been shared yet.

thanks a ton for this. You saved me $300.
I'd spend $100-ish on it but not the going price of $300-500.

Would anyone happen to have a properly fading version of the Cave Story+ Remastered soundtrack? I believe the Remastered version of the soundtrack is only available in the Steam version of the game. I found a rip on the forum but it doesn't have proper fade out, and is hard cutoff at 11kHz. I'm not sure if that's the quality of the source files, but in either case I would definitely appreciate a properly fading version of the soundtrack.
