Sound Story of Shining and the Darkness

Thanks for the bunch of awesome Shining OSTs.
Too bad that the first one I mentioned got corrupted and the RAR-archive does not have a recovery record.

Also from your earlier post another rar got corrupted on the upload: Butterfly City Feat. RYO the SKYWALKER, Mummy-D & DOUBLE / Zeebra (Ryu ga Gotoku 4 Japanese Theme)

Would be great if you could re-upload these two again and maybe use recovery record in the future.

Cheers!

Anyone here have Blue Dragon OST? After hearing Eternity, I fell in love with the OST. It was upped in the first thread but the links are obviously dead.

Also, my long time requests of Two Worlds (posted in the first thread too) and Two Worlds II OSTs still stand so if anyone has these, I'll love you forever.

I'll reupload both of those. You should grab the uploaded track instead of the whole thing for Butterfly City, save you downloading it all again.

Didn't think mega corrupted uploads like mediafire, but i'll start adding recovery records now to save others any problems.

1) I've shared very rare albums not shared before
2) They have been expensive
3) All my uploads here a personal rips and self bought
4) I have no restrictions on my uploads
5) I have shared for years here without adf.ly or similar sites. I'm not making any profit, i'm losing quite a lot to upload music to people here for free.

That last sentence was related to 4) and 5), hence the separator. 1-3)'s purpose is only to highlight what nice share that is. I don't think many people here knew about that album and its status (rarity/price), so giving the guy a bit credit and gratitude that way isn't a bad thing. about 4-5) yeah I just love and prefer sharing that way, and always nice when others do that as well. And Jessie, I've always liked you, you were one of my favorite sharers, but still you earn money through adf.ly regardless how you put it. Of course maybe not enough to make real profit (vs the money you spent on an album), but it's still being paid for sharing a link.
When I first saw you using that "service" it was sort of a disappointment. Maybe you think a noble goal (sharing) justifies a wrong action (profit), and it has already been said (not by you) that "if it's used to fund new shared VGM it's a bit less asshole-ish". I can't agree with that, that's the-end-justifies-the-means route. Just expressing opinion, I hope you accept that. Thanks for taking part and not letting your forum-powers speak.

Btw, I've bought Option TUNING CAR BATTLE Spec-R, so prepare to get that soon (just saying because I know you like that series).

Stop your moral preaching.

As long as there are Hosters who spread Money out there are people who use them.

Take the uploads or not.

Not going to quote anything this time 'cause I'm lazy, so let me get right to it:

@ Jessie: Thanks for the Shining series stuff; I've been wanting a few of those. Also, I gave Land of Genesis a listen and it was really nice. And lastly: Jessie, you don't have to explain yourself to anyone. You have shared constantly here and everyone and their mother knows that, plus you have always been an ace (get it?) whenever you get requests and everyone knows that, too, not to mention you never turn your back when your help is needed. No-one can water down that fact however "nice" and apologetic they try to sound.

@ CGBS: I know Mike, I know. Never thought I'd see Cho Aniki albums shared in lossless.

@ Executable: I agree with Charlie and Perry, and Tony, too.

This to my knowleage has no log, (sorry about that) and I think no cue file, but I was rushing to get this reup-ed as I have found a lot of great albums.
I was going to reupload Symphony Sorcerian, but I'm glad a working link was found. I'm going to try and re-up the Game Music Concert Albums, along with a few other video game orchestral albums.

I have seen it on some forum, but no way to download it, it didn't lead me to the direct page, it redirected me to their homepage..

I can get 2 different copies in lossless. 1. The Original release, and 2. The KOCH Poland / 52250-2 release (Contains extra track.. "14. Pokemon Theme". Let me know what one you want via PM.

Thanks for all the uploads, guys.

Just a quick note on compressing, because I see Gradius III and Let's Tap were compressed: music archives don't need to be compressed . MP3/FLAC/JPEG/etc. are already compressed, so a lossless compressor don't compress better, compressing/uncompressing is only a waste of time. 7-zip and WinRAR have a "store" compression setting, that doesn't recompress at all, it's much faster :)

GAME MUSIC CONCERT LIVE: THE BEST SELECTION COLLECTION
(Not related to the albums, just the set itself.)

These albums are not the first to actually tackle the job of translating video game chiptones to orchestra; Falcom did it first with the Symphony Ys & Sorcerian albums, and the Falcom Special Box '89: Orchestra Version Mini Disc, with all three said albums performed by the King Symphonic Orchestra, but that was with one single composer-conglomerate group for a company and one orchestra; here there are are mutilple Composers from different game companies participating for concerts and various different orchestras performing the arranged works, with the first album being a recording from the first live concert of it's type. I enjoyed all these albums and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

In anycase, I have one more Orchestral album that's coming.

In 9 years of "Interneting" (Raccoon City's survivor poetical license), Final Fantasy Shrine is the first community I witness getting this worked up over such silly stuff, perhaps I'm used to places where users do know how to act accordingly... or actually take the time to use tools offered by the board, avoiding to uselessly bother the Staff team. And this has nothing to do with the supposed laziness of a moderator not wanting to do his job, the laziness is actually on the user~side. "Dominating the thread with your attitude/sarcastic remarks", "User consistently trolling"... I've backtracked to page 55 and went on from there.... The only two pages where I've seen fuss getting ignited in regards to this issue are... Yeah, you've guessed right, these 2/3 last pages.
I shall reiterate once more that I didn't get much "material" reported... and slightly more than 3 weeks have passed by, since I've become a moderator... Evidence speaks for itself: a small group of folks is seeing a problem which isn't actually there. Solve it yourselves, folks.

The only two things I'll do, now, are: 1) delete the pile of crap 2) dare to leave you a warning reminiscent of the one which Jessie left on page 60 - Thread gets closed if people don't get along, blah blah. EDIT: It has not been too long since the first warning [May 27th], do you want a cooldown period? I have no problem closing this thread for as long as necessary.

BOSS LADY

Not the first time I've read someone using "Interneting"; I think it's partially accepted around the 'net, too. Anyway, it sure is frustrating having to deal with all this, especially when it's something that escalated basically out of nothing, and then having to essentially "brunt" all the shitstorm that comes afterward. I can humbly say I sympathize, as I, as crazy as it may sound for some, have been a moderator, too, and know how these type of scenarios pretty much can effectively drain your patience. "It comes with the job", a friend of mine used to tell me, and sadly, it's true.

With that said, I think what I proposed earlier before the deletion of various posts should be adopted, if at least to appease some: if anyone wishes to post an animated .gif and/or .jpeg, it should be enclosed within a spoiler tag to avoid whatever displeasure they may bring. It also won't compromise bandwidth whenever a page is loading.

Just my two cents.

Solve it yourselves, folks.you make the weirdest kind of sense here. of course, the solution most will come up with is calling others out in this thread and in doing so, they get their posts either removed or edited and verbally warned before eventually getting more severe punishment (or netting the entire thread a lockdown). if the users self-moderated, the actual status of moderator wouldn't need to exist.

Hellacia
06-21-2013, 01:22 AM
I don't get it LSK. You tell me you'd rather have discussion than a bunch of "I posted this" "Thank you" so I literally have an actual discussion with you about the points you make, 4 people like it enough to click the like button on it, and you delete it. This leaves me honestly confused as to what you really want in the thread, seriously. Do you want discussion or not? I tried to have one with you and you deleted it. It makes no sense.

Additionally, I agree with Albanoid. If we could solve it ourselves, we wouldn't see a "Moderator" title under anybody's username, nor would we need to. I am trying to solve it by discussing it here but oh wait that was deleted.

No disrespect meant, really. I just am honestly left confused as to what you want.

P.S. I guess I'm old and the internet is different from back when I was a moderator at a couple of sites (not at the same time) like over 10 years ago. This is the kind of shit that just wasn't even tolerated back then and honestly, I kind of liked it that way. Once again, I agree, I don't want the message board to be stale and I'll even say that there's a time and a place to give somebody some shit. I do it and people do it to me and it would be slightly boring without it. I am just fucking beyond tired of the shit that goes on in this thread and maybe I'm still used to the days where it would have been met with zero tolerance, idk. Fucking whatever dude, delete this post too if you want LSK, I don't care.

I must have some form of clairvoyance since for some reason I didn't come here for a few days. Guess I missed the drama. Anyway seems Mega is actually working well for many since so many bloody posts use it now, guess I'll download that damned add-on for Firefox. *looks sheepish* Um where again was that add on? I can't find it on the Mega site. Akeshi linked one once.

Trust me, you're one lucky fella.

And the add-on isn't necessary, as it was "integrated". You can now download stuff from MEGA using Firefox since a few updates ago.

you make the weirdest kind of sense here. of course, the solution most will come up with is calling others out in this thread and in doing so, they get their posts either removed or edited and verbally warned before eventually getting more severe punishment (or netting the entire thread a lockdown). if the users self-moderated, the actual status of moderator wouldn't need to exist.

Oh, really? Fine then, I'll try to explain my position better. Do you really need to be babysit like this, folks? Perhaps, I'm indeed guilty to have moderated places where people put some degree of self-moderation into place, but here you have blown shit out of what, exactly? A bunch of folks occasionally leaving the cocky/smartass remark?
Do you want me to active the "Zero tolerance" mode? I can, but then you better come to terms with the fact that I'd have to "nuke" the 93% of active contributors in this thread. Again, I wouldn't have an issue with it, personally, but with a different approach on both parts we'd ensure such thing wouldn't happen, hopefully.
I'm all for giving respect, but I'd also like to get some back. You see, you are actually going to give me extra - and completely avoidable - work... I'm a volunteer around here, the issue with Executable and BOSS LADY's attitude, based on community's feedback... and not just the small circle of posters in this thread... isn't big enough to require some serious action on our part [Ban]. If it is really that much of a bother to the likes you, ignore them and let me keep an eye on them. They'll get dealt with if they actually become a problem for the thread's "development", something which... at the current state of things... they are not.
With that said, to avoid a rehearsal of this scenario they are formally invited to tone it down. The prospect of acting in your place, just because you refuse to make use of "tools" or stuff at your disposal (even though you can), doesn't sit well with me.

Many people doesn't say a thing because they are very humble, in the sense of "Man... I really don't like this user character but, well, he is sharing music and I'm just downloading, I just can't complain about it".

The reason because I stated what I stated a few days ago is because I myself have the right to be a bit "self entitled", because I'm pretty sure I'm older than most of the folks here and also because I don't consider myself a user that can be easily stomp on. The behaviors that some users express here are of those who have a complete "digital" life, i.e. they were completely born with social media and a "anonymous" life style on the net, hence they think that being as they are, saying that "if you take the internet serious you are gonna have a bad time" is completely correct by today's standards.

As Hellacia has pointed out, there it was a time where this was not exactly tolerated but at the same time it didn't occurred at all waaaaay back when the internet began to arise, for it people had enough real life interaction and thus learned how to behave because they indeed were not anonymous at all, that reflected on their online personifications and were thus, far, far more easy and nice to get along.

I don't say that any moderator has an easy task doing whatever they are doing, they have to take some sort of moral-ethical decisions most of the time when there are moderating widely used forums and certainly... who wants to spend time correcting behaviors such as the ones I described? At the very end it's the job of the community itself to be whatever they want to be, one can still express their opinions in a calm matter towards another user because... after all, this is a forum, if said user doesn't tone down then that can be escalated indeed, but never going down to that down level of said person.

@Arceles
Thank you for your message. Personally, I've not seen much of this shitty/rude attitude which some users notified me about, in this thread, and I made sure to read quite some pages. Consistently trolling? "Overtaking" of thread? There's none of either, here. [This is the kind of complaints I've received]
At any rate, with my previous message I've advised those users that a change of attitude should probably take place, for the best. I'd like to avoid Bans. I've deleted the previous messages because I didn't want stuff to degenerate, and it was heading that way.

I guess this is just the part I don't understand; that the internet is agreeably a place of less decorum and good conduct. I see no reason it should be. Take any user you see "occasionally" making snide remarks and consider the following things:
- If the user had any sort of good reason to make a snide remark (hint: there's rarely ever a good reason to be rude)
- How often the user does it compared to other users (a.k.a. certain users are being targeted here for a reason)
- How often the user has been a reason for deleted posts (as in, not a byproduct of the resulting argument, but an instigator of the problem itself)
If you consider those things, you will find that the same people are at the central part of the arguments that take place in these types of threads, and that alone should be a red flag as to who your problematic users are that should, at the very least, be warned.

There's simply no reason not to expect good conduct on the internet just like in any other social venue. It is typical for people to create drama; it is atypical for them to blame random people for it. If you have specific individuals who are constantly being pinpointed as the source of trouble, far too often is there credence to it, especially when the complaints are coming from multiple individuals. Also, just because drama is typical does not mean it is acceptable; many misbehaviors are extremely typical of people, but if we simply shrug our shoulders and chalk it up to "people being people", then we no longer have order.

I've advised those users that a change of attitude should probably take place, for the best. That's really all that needs to happen, I don't think it's any more complex than that. An in-your-face attitude wound up irritating people; this was entirely predictable and should've been dealt with via PM.

I personally feel Leon handled what happened really well, i was really sick yesterday and had no clue anything was going on until last night.

Just a warning to those he felt needed one and removal of posts to try and get things back on track is what i would've done.

I think most of the problems people have with BOSS LADY and Executable are the sites or method they choose to share their links. Any attitude that comes through on their part are most likely out of frustration of people expressing their dislike of their methods. As i've stated before somewhere on the forum, there is no rule against using these sites, the only sites i would have a problem with are the share sited that have porn links on them, came across a few of those before.

As BOSS LADY suggested, i think it would be best to spoiler gifs/jpegs when being used, there's also no rule against using them to express how they feel about something, i personally find some of them to be funny, love the Perry one, so i'm sure others get a chuckle out of them too.

Everyone should just try to get along, we're all here to share our music with others, does it really matter how we choose to do so and is it really worth getting into a shitstorm everytime? We don't mind discussion here, to some extent, but for things like this happening, please take it to pm or even the discussion thread so we can keep this thread active without having it fall apart every few days.

not sure why you quoted me for that. i've been guilty of the exact same shit people are actively complaining about currently (well, maybe not the exact same but close enough to it).

my statement was more toward the fact that taking a hands off approach to moderation isn't the way to moderate, otherwise having anyone as a moderator is quite a pointless endeavor. saying "handle it yourselves, guys" then later actually stepping in to do something seems a bit hypocritical of the entire stance you've taken. don't take this personally, as it isn't intended to offend, but being a moderator means assuming the responsibility of moderating the discussion daily and not moderating the discussion only when you feel like it or taking action based on majority/community rule. at this point, given how often (in more than one variation of this thread) people have visibly gotten upset over some user(s) i'd think it would have become clear that the lax approach isn't really doing a remarkable means of curbing the stuff that's causing those people to get upset and in turn lash out in the thread.

I think most of the problems people have with BOSS LADY and Executable are the sites or method they choose to share their links.

This is absolutely the furthest thing from the truth I have ever seen. The thing that bothers me about them is their egregiously rude attitude towards people who are literally trying to help and give friendly advice, or people that are kindly asking for some. There was one debate about filehosts and blah blah. This debate has been about attitude. In the case of BOSS LADY, it's an outright admitted attitude - something along the lines of "I'm not entitled, just bossy", which just shows how really entitled he is to think he can be bossy to everybody when he's been here since what, fucking January? And I'm just going to quote this and be done, because it's probably the best thing I've read in 20 or so pages on this thread:

just because drama is typical does not mean it is acceptable; many misbehaviors are extremely typical of people, but if we simply shrug our shoulders and chalk it up to "people being people", then we no longer have order.

@Hellacia, I think this matter has been for the moment solved since even if you look back there are not anymore gifts moving around anymore and the overall atmosphere of the threat has been improved. I suggest that the threat continues were it left off and if such casualty happens again, then and only then we can refer to this posts again, just in order to avoid having them deleted and thus having nothing to cite in the future.

These are not the first actual tackles of translating video game chiptones to orchestra; Falcom did it first with the Symphony Ys & Sorcerian albums, and the Falcom Special Box '89: Orchestra Version Mini Disc, with all three albums performed by the King Symphonic Orchestra, but that was with one single composer-conglomerate group for a company; here there are are mutilple Composers from different game companies working on this and with different orchestras performing the arranged works and the first album being a recording from the first live concert of it's genre. I enjoyed it and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have.

In anycase, I have one more Orchestral album that's coming.

I'm having the same problem as well.

It's quite simple: add .001 at the end of the first file in the set.

For example, let's take the first album, WPCL-560 | Game Music Concert -The Best Selection- (http://vgmdb.net/album/877), where the first file in the set is GMC I.7z. All you have to do is add .001 at the end of GMC I.7z, which will end up looking like GMC I.7z.001. Once done, you will be able to open it. Simpleness.

Keep in mind you need 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) for this.

Okay. You're overselling it a bit, but I'll take your word for it.

Is there anyway to divide those big FLAC files, which contains every track on the CD in just one into normal files?

Haven't you asked that sometime before? Or maybe was it someone else...?

Ah, whatever! As eleriaqueen noted: CUETools.

Thank you very much!

Do you know which of the three composers wrote the Organ "resurrection" piece?
You mean "reincarnation"? Anyway I don't know. Could be either one of 3 composers who worked on SMT4: Ryota Koduka, Kenichi Tsuchiya, Toshiki Konishi.

But hey who cares about "reincarnation", when we have "sdds IV" = the most bad ass track in the universe! ^_^

180upload sucks balls.

With that said, simply input whatever word/phrase it gives you and click the "continue" button, where it'll take you to the download page. Once there, simply tick the box that tells you to, "Download faster with 180upload download accelerator", which in other words will prompt you to download some dumb application. With that done, simply click the big link above, and download whatever the file is.

Yep, the "solve captcha" thingie isn't a problem for us white haired interneting veterans hoho, but this un-check (when it is checked by default) box to avoid malware - is something new and kinda unheard of yet.

Reason: I was ninja'd.Ha that was cute. And yes you've been ninja'd with the lightening speed of unparalleled swiftness of piano player. Stuff happens.

. . .

Jessie, thanks man for super-sonic reply to the Chrome request. That's even more lightening speed faster than anything. That's even faster than Fedex on rainy day, or faster than me getting sick from tequila. And gosh, I can't stand tequila.

Heh, I see what you did there. Cute.

Anyway, the check/un-check box crap has been going on for quite a while, so it isn't THAT unheard of. Regardless, it sure is a bothering nuisance, and should be eradicated.

Greetings everyone, I appreciate your efforts in re-posting (and re-uploading) all the lost music after such tragedy (Megapocalyspe I believe), and look forward for the full recovery of them.
And uhh... any chance you'll be re-uploading "Soul nomad & the world eaters OST" in FLAC?, I believe this thread (Thread 64743) contains what I'm looking for but hard luck, the links are broken. >.<

(Hopefully I'm asking in the right section, if not please forgive me and move it to the correct one, I SO MUCH want to listen to the music of this awesome game right now.)

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

That project was put on hold because at the time I was overwhelmed with college studies and work. Otogi 1 gamerip was complete and finished, OST 1&2 CDs were ripped, but Otogi 2 gamerip was not done since it was more complex than the first one and involved more manual work in Command Prompt. So the whole didn't get posted yet for the reason of being unfinished. But now that you mention it, I will get back to it and finish what was started. Expect it to be ready within the next few days, meaning withing this week time frame.

How goes the whole Otogi thing right now? No rush, really, I'm just curious.

Since Underground Gamer is gone forever (as far as I know), I decided to upload some of the lossless music I've gotten from there. The files/folders are unmodified; I just archived them with 3% of recovery record. I hope somebody will find these useful in future.

It seems like people are having problems with MEGA, and I can't make any more accounts for Google Drive, so I decided to try SkyDrive. . . . I'm not sure how long it'll take until I get v& lol.

@ Yarukinasu:

Wow, thanks for all the uploads! Quick question about Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2--are those tracks in FLAC format? (I'm at work right now but plan to download these later tonight after I get home.) I know you said they're all lossless, but then again, not all lossless are FLAC necessarily, so I just thought I'd ask to make sure. :)

Yeah, there are two Player One (Issue #082) - Les Musiques du Jeu Cool Boarders 2 *Remix* in VG_CD_MAG_FR, but that's because Windows cannot have the half-width asterisk (*) for file and folder names.

I'll upload if anybody wants any of them.

Feel free to PM me for reupload.

Big posts like that always look so pretty. Most nicely done.

As for the magazine promo CDs, with the exception of a few, I would honestly say that I'm interested in all of them. But, I'm not like that, so, would it be possible to upload these:

Joypad CD Vol.4 (Issue #071) - Les musiques de MediEvil
Playmag (Issue #015) - 20 The`mes Exclusifs ! Legacy Of kain, Pandemonium, Exhumed, Spider
X64 Magazine (Issue #013) - Les Musiques de Turok 2 - Les Remixes Officiels

@ Yarukinasu:

Wow, thanks for all the uploads! Quick question about Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2--are those tracks in FLAC format? (I'm at work right now but plan to download these later tonight after I get home.) I know you said they're all lossless, but then again, not all lossless are FLAC necessarily, so I just thought I'd ask to make sure. :)

Now that I'm home I have downloaded and can confirm that both Galaxy soundtracks are in FLAC format (for anyone else out there who may be wondering).

Major props again to Yarukinasu for all these uploads (esp. the three Mario OSTs)!

I use Firefox and haven't had any problems with MEGA ever since they updated the browser. However, a few days ago I was downloading something and it did "stop" at around 3% with a pop-up screen that read that "Firefox needed to consent the download" or something along those lines, and asking to click "ALLOW" to continue. Thing is, I didn't see anywhere anything that read "ALLOW" that was clickable, and after what I would surmise was a 10 second period, the pop-up closed itself and the download continued normally.

Perhaps restarting the browser would help clear this problem to anyone that's confronting it?

How goes the whole Otogi thing right now? No rush, really, I'm just curious.
No progress with Otogi 2, I'm afraid. I haven't found the time or energy to sit through the command prompt tediousness. If you really mean no rush then I'll take it as no rush, though it is on my list to do. I might have a day off tomorrow if the crazy rain continues in the area. That will make a good opportunity to spend some time on a computer at home and tie up loose ends with this thing.
But you know what, in a mean time I'm gonna go ahead and upload/post all Otogi stuff that is already done up to this point (Otogi1 gamerip, short OST CDs 1&2).

Nope. It stops at like 3-4%, then the whole screen begins to flash (O_o!) and finally shows the pop-up. I can't do anything once that happens, so I'm forced to load Chrome instead. :\

Riku-Sinistra, regarding the empty log file issue: do you have something like an Unhandled Exception error when EAC finishes ripping? If you are running a machine that has an older processor in it and you attempt to append a checksum to the LOG file, EAC is unable to calculate the checksum because the calculation uses processing methods that your computer cannot handle.
EAC 1.0beta 3 crash upon log file creation - Hydrogenaudio Forums (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=98642)
http://www.digital-inn.de/exact-audio-copy-english/40264-append-checksum-unhandled-exception-error.html
This is the only thing I can think of. So my suggestion: uncheck the box to append the checksum to the log file, and try doing an extraction of the first track and see if you get anything in the log.

I don't know why I didn't do this one earlier, along with the other Tobal stuff. It's fantastic. If you haven't heard it and you like smooth 90s synth and rock stuff, you will dig this soundtrack.

Because some filehosts come up with some strange rules regarding archive files in particular, I removed the file extension from the archive so that it won't fall under any such restrictions. To use the file easily, simply add .rar to the end of the filename. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience, but I thought it was better than being limited in the future.

So, when using Cuetools and it says that the rip isn't accurate, I was wondering exactly what that means. Is it that the offsets are wrong or something, even though when I play the songs they sound perfectly fine?

smashmaster95: It depends on what specific error CUE Tools gives you. If it gives you an offset mismatch, then the rip you're checking could be from a different print of the same CD, or it was done with an offset that doesn't match Accuraterip's drive offsets (an incorrect offset). If it gives you partial matches, then it could mean that the rip you're checking was not ripped correctly - perhaps the cache was not disabled when it should have been, or there were CRC errors on the tracks with partial matches due to scratches on the disc (this is why people like having LOG files).

Accuraterip isn't perfect though. In some cases, you will get a report that the whole rip is partial matches, when it's your own personal rip from a mint-condition CD, with the CRCs from Test & Copy in EAC matching up. In those cases, it's obviously time to ignore Accuraterip. Generally, it's hard to know when Accuraterip is giving you truly accurate error results; it's most reliable when you queue a CD and it gives you "Accurately Ripped (Confidence 12)" or something along those lines.

It's not hard, it's quite literally impossible :)

As a testimonial of sorts, I once ripped a CD for which Accuraterip told me track 1, and ONLY track 1, could not be verified as accurate, while all the rest are accurate. EAC didn't even crank up error correction at the end of the track like it sometimes does, it flew right through it, track quality 100% in the log. This was done from a mint condition CD, with test&copy matching up, blah blah like Simon said. So, yeah, don't trust Accuraterip when it tells you something is wrong.

XLD had some bug in earlier versions (see the changelog for details), where AR hash calculation for track 1 was wrong. So it's very possible that AR submissions with this version "polluted" the database.

EDIT: Actually, disregard that statement. I didn't pay attention to the fact that AR submission only works through some proprietary DLL. I don't think you could ever do submissions in XLD. Only queries.

Pardon my asking, but what is all this business about Accurip anyway? Don't misunderstand me, I'm all for having good quality, accurate copies of albums. It just seems as though a lot of you are putting a great deal of thought and effort into this. How significant are the advantages/rewards? Sure on Foobar2000 I use the feature to adjust the offset of the drive these days, but I would like to know if I'm missing out on anything particularly significant in the way of improved quality.

Accuraterip doesn't improve the quality of anything. It is simply a way to submit your results to a database to see if you got the same results as anybody else. It's only for verification purposes. Actually, as SimonJXZ explained earlier in this thread, it will actually cause you not to be able to adjust your offset correctly to catch every sample on many CDs. The whole great thing about offset adjustment technology is the capability to catch all the samples on a CD, so that your rip is really "lossless", at least in that you didn't lose any non-silent audio. When you confine yourself to one offset, as Accuraterip has you do, catching every sample on a CD becomes an impossible task, because you have to rip at one offset, regardless of whether or not it is the offset that will get you every sample.

Accuraterip isn't a setting that improves the quality of something somehow, like disable cache is, for example. It is simply a database submission tool. I haven't used it in about 5 years and I honestly can't see myself ever using it at any point because not only does it cause me not to be able to use proper offsets for individual CDs, but the results in the database are so polluted by errors anyway that there isn't much point if I can't trust the verification data submitted to it.

OK, so just hit the auto offset adjust in Foobar every time I rip something and that's basically all I need then?

I actually don't even know what you're talking about. I don't use Foobar and didn't know it rips CDs... or does offset adjustment... or whatever you're talking about :p And honestly, adjusting the offset of a CD after it's already been ripped is sort of pointless. But if it makes you feel better to see a program tell you "Accurately ripped according to ___ offset" then go for it. Unless you're adjusting the offset by like 30000 or something, it's not going to ruin anything. It... really won't make much difference at all.

Megafiend

Accuraterip doesn't improve the quality of anything. etc...

Funny. From the EAC guides I've read, I set up my drive using the Auto-detect offset and disabling cache because it says my drive doesn't need it. I've ripped like 300 or more CDs using those settings to FLAC...they all sound great and just like the CDs to me. First I've ever heard about not using offset.

Anyway, hi all. I have a question: I am looking to make a purchase from CDJapan for several Final Fantasy Soundtracks:
IV Remaster, V Remaster, XI Seekers of Adoulin, and the THEATRHYTHM Compilation. With shipping it's about $137.50, plus I get $10 in points if I order by tomorrow night.

Does anyone have any plans on buying and uploading these yourself? I'm tight and would like to save the money if I could. I think IV and V will be up eventually (they are better on headphones compared to the SPCs), but Seekers has not been available in Lossless these past three months which shocks me. Also, the THEATRHYTHM is 5 discs so I could see that being troublesome. So does anyone plan on putting these up for us to download or would my purchase help the community? I have no plans on uploading the discs but I could give my rips to other people so they could upload for download.

Anyway, please let me know by tomorrow night. Thanks.

Hellacia's correct in that Accuraterip itself doesn't do anything. Accuraterip is not offset, disable cache, or anything else. Accuraterip is a database. That is all it is. The settings you adjust in EAC to offset your drive, disable cache, etc is EAC, not Accuraterip. EAC has taken massive strides in giving us the best audio quality possible. Accuraterip is simply a database that archives hashes of ripping results. The only way it affects what comes off the disc is by giving you one offset that you have to use for every CD. And, like stated earlier, using that single offset will cause you to miss samples on a myriad of CDs. The number of samples you'll miss won't actually affect the way you hear the sound (well, 99.99999% of the time anyway), but it isn't "lossless" like most of us want to think our rips our, in that you are losing samples. That is loss.

EDIT: Since it might look like I'm saying two things that contradict each other; Accuraterip is not how you adjust your drive's offset. EAC is how you adjust your drive's offset. Accuraterip just tells you "adjust your drive's offset to this". You can use that same offset on your own without having to enable Accuraterip. Accuraterip just forces you to use the offset it wants.

If the downloads came from this thread or the previous v1 thread.. but didn't have the logs.. getting just the log files separate from the .flac files is just stupid to do. It's supposed to be that way: cheerful and comical. Clearly both the title AND the cover art reflect this. Uematsu has stated that album represents his life, and actually one of the songs in it was written when he was a tyke. He's more than just FINAL FANTASY, you know?

Oh wow, the baby excuse. That's low even for you. And the part where we should have to click spoiler buttons to read people's posts is just laughably pathetic, Vegeta. By the way, notice I didn't quote your entire gigantic fucking post (which you yourself did not put in a spoiler tag by the way), but only the part that's relevant to my response? Here's something you can consider: if you are just soooooo busy with the baby and don't have time to actually read what someone says, don't fucking respond to it! It's not like Bawler asked you that question personally and you had to come up with a response for him. You made a choice to respond to that when you couldn't give the post enough attention to understand what it was asking for. The baby is not responsible for that post. The baby didn't make that post. You did. And it's not the first time you've giganto-quoted either, I already reported one of your posts in which you quoted like a 5 paragraph post just to say tl;dr, which is not only obnoxious but just flat-out rude when someone was trying to educate other people. Yeah, I don't want to see you use your baby as an excuse for your poor forum etiquette, that's just bullshit, Vegeta.

Hello! Has someone the "Monster Hunter Tri" Soundtrack yet?
I tried many options to buy it myself in a digital copy, but its hard to get that when you live in Germany!
So anyone can help me out?
Thanks really much! :)

Greets to you neighbor

I recently went on an ost binge for the past sum years' music -- ffshrine is tops but this torrent archive over at 'gamemp3s' is fairly decent for some stuff that isn't available here

Check the torrent archive, crash through the pages dating back to 2007 and see what strikes your fancy - they post cover art so just pretend you're in your local neighborhood store picking out a record and if it catches your eye, why not pick'n'click it up !!?

#gamemp3s / Search Results / monster hunter tri (http://www.gamemp3s.net/?s=monster+hunter+tri)

And if it's FLAC you're for, Madame BOSS will be able to do that up for ya

For someone who is rarely seen around here (or even shares), you sure like to complain a lot, Hellacia, and not to mention be quite instigative. Just ignore whatever miffs you, it's not that hard.

I don't understand the fuss anyone has with quoting a long post. Sure, if its something that is too outrageously big then I might get annoyed for maybe half a second it takes for me to scroll past it, but seriously I can't care enough about it that I need to start ranting about it and pointing fingers.

It took me about 17 seconds to do with one hand.

Hello everyone,

I have encountered an interesting issue with regards to verifying an (not VGM) album that I have just downloaded, and I wanted to get some insight from experts on this thread (such as Jessie, Despair, Executable, et al.). The album came with an EAC (v1.0 beta 1) log where it specifies that all the tracks were accurately ripped (with a confidence of 1), but when I use Cuetools (v2.14) to verify and produce its own log, the results state the following:

AR: rip not accurate (0/0), CTDB: disk not present in database

How is this possible when the CRC hash values found in the EAC log match those of the accurip entry found in the Cuetools log that the rip supposedly doesn't match?

I've been a lossless enthusiast for about 3 years, and I've never seen this before. Granted, this may be a simple matter once the experts chime in, but I found this very interesting to witness.

I propose a new feature for this forum. Quotes over a certain character limit are automatically placed in a spoiler. Vegeta can write the code since he's part of the Cracking Forum, then Jessie can implement it.

While FFShrine was down, I uploaded my entire VGMdb collection to my MEGA account, so anyone that needs something.. I can get a link right away ( as long as I'm awake lol ).

As far as the quote situation goes.. It's not hard to change "Reply With Quote" .. to Reply With Quote & Spoiler" Force the quote into a spoiler like [quote ] [spoiler ] sdfoiuwoeru [/ spoiler] [/ quote] Then whoever wants to read it can expand it.

For a moment there you had me doing circles because I though it was GRANDIA ONLINE. And I'm not sure why since the covers aren't exactly similar... Silly me.

EDIT: Seriously though I never said I'm a woman so I don't know where you guys are drawing that from. I just use a female avatar. That's like 86% of people on the internet, 98% of which are guys. My name is John, I'm totally a dude.

Adverb aside, I know I lack the proper knowledge concerning the math behind it, but yeah, in my book that's fast, sweetheart. And this taking into consideration my connection is moderately fast, but nowhere near your kind of fast.

Also, when did Vegeta ever showed humility...before siding with Goku, I mean. Bah! I'm certain you are on the know of what I'm trying to say. =P
