It can be fun sometimes, almost like a puzzle, to figure out what track is supposed to be where and sort them yourself.

Yeah! A good example is the Final Fantasy II Soundtrack. Or when you want to put the FFIX and FF IX Plus soundtracks together.

hi guys,

i am hunting since a moment the Super Butoden OST (http://vgmdb.net/album/445) (any version, jap or euro)
if any CD has been ripped yet, please let me know, cause i'll try to buy the one(s) we don't have in FLAC actually.

for those interested with the differences between jap/eur OST, they sound slightly differently,
as for some instru than for general arrangements,
also, time isn't the same, jap is 46:41s total & eur is 54:00s.

thanks mates.

EDIT:
i bought the french release (http://vgmdb.net/album/14948), rip will come soon.

So this maybe a bit early.. but I wonder if we are going to get a Yooka-Laylee soundtrack .. Music should be done by Grant Kirkhope and David Wise.. so basically a Donkey Kong Country / Banjo-Kazooie style ... Game not out until 2017 though.

The kickstarter had tiers with digital and physical soundtracks. I personally backed it and got a digital soundtrack (the tier for a physical one was quite expensive) but they haven't said what format it'll be in yet, here's hoping for FLAC. If not I *really* hope someone rips that physical CD, it would be such a shame to not have that music in high quality.

Yeah! A good example is the Final Fantasy II Soundtrack. Or when you want to put the FFIX and FF IX Plus soundtracks together.

Speaking of which, I'm in the middle of placing both together in proper "true" order. I just finished Disc 2 (of the PS game itself) and listed all the tracks in the order of appearance.

It's also fun to play a game while listing the songs in proper order. Pretty much !!!!!'s OSVs has set the standard for me.

It won't sound any different than the gamerips though. It just will be mastered to CD. Like people have mentioned, the soundtrack was probably done in 32khz.

It can't sound any different and if it does it'll probably be for worse, adding filters. If they wanna do a good job, they'll keep it at 32khz instead of converting, as it could be bad, and possibly without loud effects.

Oh man, that looks GREAT!
I really wasn't pleased with the mastering on the single cd preorder bonus. Maybe this will be different. It shouldn't be too bad if they simply convert the sampling rate. Not ideal obviously but that's the best you can hope for from a cd release. My concern is what else they'll do to the audio besides that.

In any case, still gonna be awesome to have all these other tracks. Someone please buy and rip that! Lol. Unless straight untouched 32khz tracks circulate from the gamefiles? Those would be cool. But most people would have to resample them on the fly anyway so maybe not a huge difference for a lot of people.

More importantly, Nintendo better do Skyward Sword next, even if it's only a 1CD deal. I was literally just thinking how great that game was and how much I'd love to have a soundtrack. I listened to a few songs on YouTube and they took me right back.

Pretty sure it's partially or most complete, and the mising tracks are nothing very important. And if it is, well, not a huge matter. We're collectors. We can hold on to the Gamerips to be most complete.

Possibly not, my comment wasn't very serious, but in NX or 20 years it's possibly happening who knows.

What's up with SS, it's a decent game.

TheSkeletonMan939
06-12-2016, 01:50 PM
The reason SS HD will never happen is because the motion controls are an integral part of the game... it'd be foolish to reinvent the mechanics entirely.

I enjoyed the game... I understand why it's so reviled though. The overworld frankly sucks, the boss battles are incredibly easy, the motion controls weren't well-received, etc.

OK, these are all personal rips. I noticed that most of these I could find on the Shrine somewhere, but not in lossless, and I don't think I've seen Victory Goal '96 anywhere on the forum, let alone the internet. I used MEGA to upload everything this time, since it seems like an overall easier and faster experience for downloading. I'm using a MacBook Pro, and there are no good archiving utilities that I know of, so I uploaded the albums straight, with no archiving, but they are in separate folders. You should be able to choose to download the folders as zip files though, so as to avoid downloading file by file. Also, as I mentioned in my previous upload, I have no way of scanning anything, so sorry to those who want them (But, really, most of them have great scans on VGMdb already). Here we go!!!

VGMdb lacks many albums in its database, it is not the ultimate resource about VG/Animation-related releases. Heck, I had to add a few albums there myself.

Vegeta. What a boss haha you're the best. Guess you can trump my rip afterall :P

How fucking GLORIOUS is this new theme for breath of the wild? Really love it. I can't say I love the general lack of music this game has but if they do a release of whatever music this game will end up having, I'll be happy. Also tough to tell through the terrible YouTube stream this morning, but it sounded orchestrated… could the game be fully orchestrated? No excuse if there's so much music they don't have to record anymore :P

Argus Zephyrus

It won't sound any different than the gamerips though. It just will be mastered to CD. Like people have mentioned, the soundtrack was probably done in 32khz.

It can't sound any different and if it does it'll probably be for worse, adding filters. If they wanna do a good job, they'll keep it at 32khz instead of converting, as it could be bad, and possibly without loud effects.

Except, you know, that didn't happen with the 7-track official soundtrack released years ago.

Is there a good download of the untouched audio files from Skyward Sword converted to FLAC? I am aware of some circulating rips that involved mixing of the layered audio tracks, or incorporated line rips, however I am not interested in those. I found one download on the forum of what appears to be what I'm looking for (Bar's rip) but the files are sadly no longer hosted.

Any direction on where to find something similar would be greatly appreciated!

They should have only charged a dollar when it compares to flac and mp3 320... I find this to be greedy in my opinion.. >..> Its like a slight step up, but if it was 24 bit then yes I would agree to the price (after hearing the difference).

Thanks for this. I was hoping one of the currently circulating rips would be properly tagged to some extent, but if those aren't available anymore then this at least will be a good solution as well, and I can just encode the 32khz wavs myself.

I had the files a loooong time ago but I moved them onto a flash drive that ended up being faulty. Some major electronic issue with this particular model where all of them just stopped working out of the blue. It's all stuff I was just moving around temporarily so I didn't think I'd need to keep backups of the flash drive. Needless to say I lost quite a bit of stuff, actually it was mostly work files, roms, and VGM OSTs I was listening to at the time lol

Ok finally.. Order placed for WWCE-31380~1/B | SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 25TH ANNIVERSARY SELECTION (http://vgmdb.net/album/58192)

I might be able to pull off a front cover scan, but anything else is probably a no go. My scanner has a bunch of dirt in it.. and for some reason it leaves 2 thick (at least inch and a half wide) down the center of the scanner. I'll have to replace it.

You'll have to run anydvd in the background (it's a good decryptor for DVDs and most Blu Rays)

And at that point you can just create an iso in imgburn which I find is the best program for this sort of thing. I believe that's the proper way of ripping DVDs, at least that's how I've been doing it for years. The "clean" iso disc image can then be mounted or burned back to disc, or runthrough a program to encode video files, or just play the .vobs, etc.

Imgburn is free, anydvd is not. I'll admit I'm a dirty pirate but the software is good enough that I've at least considered paying for it LOL

If the DVD contains videos, you could rip it with makemkv (lossless rip, no encoding). I believe Makemkv has builtin a type of "anydvd".

Yeah I was just thinking about that. I think they are video files. I do have MakeMKV installed from doing BluRay rips of DBZ episodes.. I'll see how it reacts with that.

At the very least, remux rips..

PonyoBellanote

No remuxes! DVD ISO much better. Anyone who wants just the videos can remux it themselves.

It's more lossless as an ISO, i'll say as a good excuse.

VyseLegend

Yes MakeMKV is a great program that works flawlessly in most cases, pretty simple to use too.

In the case of Blu-Rays this program is indispensable as many new releases are encrypted and there is no software available to read them anywhere except for MakeMKV. I wouldn't really call it an adulterated encode, more a pass-through video and a lossless compression of the audio muxed into an .mkv.

For DVDs, there are plenty of .iso ripping programs readily available without the same issues.

What MakeMKV does it create an exact copy folder from the Disc itself. I could then zip that into an ISO .. if that sounds ok?

No, what it does is rip the .vob files into an .mkv and videos.

Actually when I was doing DBZ rips, it took the files as is.. so in this case they were .m2ts .. then I had to use mkvmerge to create them as mkv files. So its likely it would just rip the disc as is.

Never tried zipping into an .ISO file though.

I doubt so. MakeMKV doesn't rip the DVD as an ISO, it just rips the DVD's .vob files and rips the video and dumps it into an MKV..

Is it too hard to just get Imgburn?

Vegeta, get in touch with me somewhere. I'll help you rip that thing right.

Quick and dirty guide:
If it's just VIDEO_TS (that is all video files, no data necessitating an ISO file) then the easiest thing would be to do RipIt4Me and DVD Decrypter.

http://www.videohelp.com/software/RipIt4Me
http://www.videohelp.com/software/DVD-Decrypter

1. RipIt4Me is portable so you run it right from the EXE
1a. DVD Decrypter should be installed before following the rest of this guide.

2. Open RipIt4Me and configure these settings as shown
→ Make sure to configure the path to where you installed DVD Decrypter ←

3. Open DVD Decrypter and configure these settings as shown

4. Insert DVD, open RipIt4Me, click "1-Click Mode", ensure "Full DVD" is selected as pictured,
note your target destination folder, then click "Next"

5. Allow 5-20 minutes for it to do its thing

6. At the end of ripping it might throw some errors/warnings at you. You can ignore them.
Following this guide and using those programs ensures all the video content has been decrypted, stripped of region-coding (if necessary) and is untouched. Then you just pack the VIDEO_TS folder in an archive and upload it where ever.

That doesn't sound right... I've installed it on multiple computers and never ran into that. I'm not surprised it's bundled with that but there has to be a way to not install the other thing. I'll have a look at the installer for the latest version.

I'd say ISO is the best for archival since it retains the original file structure and metadata of the original disc. It'd be a near identical replication of the original disc (minus the copy protection)

Extracting the videos even if losslessly/pass through is still not quite copying the disc since it is at the very least an alteration of the data structure that can't be reversed. Kind of similar to doing a proper cd rip in EAC vs simply ripping to ALAC in iTunes. Both might be completely listenable and bit-identical to what's on the disc, but only one can truly be considered a replica of the original disc

You can decline the search bar installation (been using Imgburn for almost 10 years).

Also, in case you want to turn them into audio files, I will leave here the way I ripped the BD Audio of FF14 (They were actually videos).

Well, the FFX HD remaster and the FFXIV soundtracks are actually videos (to prevent piracy I believe). What I did to rip both of my FFXIV soundtracks (works for movies and any other type of media too) is the next:

1.- Run Anydvd to remove disc protection
2.- Find within the disc the files you want (usually on STREAM)

3.- Use TSMuxer to demux the files (separates everything (subs, audio, video)), select only the audio file.

4.- Put the TSMuxer output in the container/format you prefer.

It's been there forever, it's just that no one uses it. File -> backup once the disc has been inserted and loaded. Then just make sure you select Decrypt Video Files or it takes over 12 hours per disc. Did this with all the movies I uploaded to a JP anime tracker and I send ISO's to my cousin who lives about an hour away.

lol reminds me of a couple of video game related records I have that I can digitize if anyone would be interested

One of them is this unofficial video game "breaks" record from about 15 years ago, intended for DJs. Just samples and sound effects from classic games. Really nothing of interest except for the couple of "remixes" present on the disc but it's pretty neat. I got it when it came out more for the novelty of hearing video game music on wax lol I'd probably never buy something like that nowadays but it seemed cool at the time

I also have that really fucking terrible pacman picture disc from the early 80's. The music is downright terrible, and I will say my copy is not particularly in the best shape. Sadly the seller I bought it from highly over-graded it. That said, it's no more unlistenable than the material already is. There are some very lo-fi examples of it on YouTube if nobody's ever heard it before. You should be glad that you haven't if this is new to you.

Yeah, if it's a CD that has anything to do with Sonic, I'll snatch it up as soon as possible haha. That's also the reason I said it doesn't really matter. Regardless of who rips it, people will still be getting the same content and I'll still have a copy in my collection.

I've said it before at least twice: I also enjoy both soundtracks equally. They're both great in their own different ways.

I played and completed the game with the US soundtrack last year, I'll play and complete it with the JP soundtrack this year.
They both offer slightly different experiences, the way the music fits with the levels and gameplay.

Soundtrack choices aside - it's a shame the sega cd wasn't used for less fmv games and more "standard" games instead, with badass soundtracks. I like all the stuff that Spencer Nilsen worked on. The Spider-Man one is probably the cheesiest of the bunch, but Sonic and Ecco both get a lot of play - inside the system and out.

Yeah well I thought I was the only person who owned a cat as a kid but turns out cats are the #1 most owned pet in the world, you just don't see them as often as dogs because they stay at home. Hope you get where I'm going with this :P (I like the US soundtrack better than the JP one, too)

What exactly makes the US soundtrack more appealing. Coming from a guy that can listen to absolutely anything, I wouldn't be able to explain it.

Also, that comparison makes no sense in a general consensus standpoint.

Personally the US soundtrack had a more appealing selection of instruments that sounded more badass and modern than the JP soundtrack.

I can agree the USA sound overall is more appealing in a general sense, but JPN is more appealing when I'm in a particular mood.

When I was referring to general consensus, I'm more referring to the fact there are flame wars over which soundtrack is better, in the same vein there being arguments on whether dogs or cats are better. There's no real winner. Also, nice way of saying you disagree.

I'm always a sucker for extended versions, especially when it's those that are used for DJ sets, where an extra back beat is added, though it depends on who does the remix.

A good example would actually be Tidal Tempest from the album, which does have an added beat throughout that version. Don't forget to mention the outro of that version.

I played Sonic CD on Sonic Gems Collection so much, and have grown very accustomed to hearing the 2-3 second pauses whenever the music would loop. The Sonic The Hedgehog Boom OST really made me happy when I heard the "rest" of that track. I literally lost my shit lmao

It's definitely one of the best. I was really disappointed with the remix used in Generations, which is pretty few in that game. Nothing against the band, but why did they have to rely on Cash Cash for every remix? Even the Crush 40 cover of Sonic Boom has them thrown in because they're obligated at that point, but it didn't stop it from being the best of the bunch (because Crush 40 did a fantastic cover regardless).

I tend to suck at 2D Sonic games as well, but I never get stuck in the first level. That requires special suckage, even at a younger age. Don't blame the game on one level.

The only one I could ever beat was Sonic CD, if only because the game works so well at everything that I actually cared to beat it. Not saying the other Genesis Sonic games didn't work, but this one appealed to me more.

I like playing the 3D Sonic games more, but they're definitely the much weaker games in the franchise.

I never did say I didn't like it, but I wasn't sure if it was best direction to take the track. It's okay, but I like the original better.

Classic City Escape, on the other hand, is definitively one of my favorite remixes from Generations. The incorporation of Endless Mine from Sonic 3 is brilliant and the outro is one of the best.

3. I would have had it sooner, but I've been short on cash prior to release date to place an order, so I had ordered it as soon as I got the money.

I second this, Proof would be nice. Even at 500 MB per album on average, that would be around 880,000 albums. I honestly think he's full of shit but what do I know lol

You should go there, currently copy all mine OSTs and Singles into there. That Folder is half me and "shadowzentral" uploads, so i can proof that he is right.
Currently we have most of our Stuff on other Fileservers like Baidu or FTP (FXP-Servers) that take some while to copy over GoogleDrive.
Look forward for the full collection. ^^

(Currently Copyed over 17TB)

Kim Dotcom hasnt been involved with mega for quite a while.

I will try the new service once it is released, since he says that there are no transfer limits.

Hey everyone, I've received and ripped my copy of http://vgmdb.net/album/58192. I'll have it posted here shortly. I'm glad I decided to open it since the first disc was loose inside of the case. I hope no one else has/had that issue.

My rip, includes Log + Cue, and DVD as an ISO file.
