Feeding my cat Brunhilda a tiny piece of the spicy sausage I cooked for dinner. Along with a nice salad and German Red Cabbage. She's loves spicy food. (Don't wonder, I gave her just a little.)

So this HDTV capture of Plunkett & Macleane seems to be some sort of SD upscale to 1920x1080.
Or it was captured/broadcast with poor settings.

It's really blotchy. Like denoised to look like wax.

Adding grain to it to give back some details and downsizing to 1280x720.

The nice thing is that the movie was actually filmed in 25fps. So nothing fancy need be done.

Might even downsize it to 480p resolution.
Downloading the DVD-9 to compare.
The HDTV to DVD should look nicer.

Alan Cumming is in the movie. Should be a real hoot to watch after it's all fixed.

So I accidentally hit play on one of the project files and my watching of Squidbillies got interrupted.

Spent the past 2 hours trying to fix some hack job of a DVD for Plunkett & Macleane.
I now I have a perfect remux of the DVD, complete with named chapters and full English subtitles (SDH, because it lists the music played in the movie as it's playing), and just the English audio (removed Russian dubs).

After getting a good look at the DVD, it looks like that one HDTV capture I got is probably just an upscale of the DVD itself.
The ringing is the same. And the denoising is the same too. Some parts look like pastels. That would look worse when upscaled to 1080 for HDTV.

So I can safely scrap the HDTV capture and wait for them to do a proper HDTV or even release on bluray.

I'll watch it tomorrow. It looks really good.
Alan Cumming and Michael Gambon are in it, too.

I just hope the DVD isn't a re-encode from a bigger DVD. Though, there doesn't seem to be any signs.

Hoping the steel book for Zootopia has a nice image and some nice bonus content.

I doubt about the bonus content, we haven't had a lot of that in Disney movies for a long time, there'll probably two crappy featuretes, one deleted scene, the teaser trailer and the music video. I wish there was at least one audiocommentary, the cheapest form of behind the scenes/making of. And the directors are so likeable that you'd just like to see them talk for an hour discussing the movie. They're like big children, in a good way. :P But there'll be a steelbook for sure, and I'm also curious about what it'll be. It's sad, really. Only BIG movies like Star Wars get 2 hours of interesting bonus features; but that's because they HAVE to, or else fans would complain.. :I

There's many movies that are smaller but also deserve lots of special features. So far I've seen a lot bout Zootopia in Youtube that surely won't be in the Blu-ray. B-roll recording sessions, interviews, etc.. Hell, even an audiocommentary would be welcomed! It's the cheapest form of behind the scenes, really! Zootopia had a lot of work into it and it'd be great to know all the stories behind the making. I guess I'll just make a collection out of what I find in the internet.

Ran into a weird audio error in the process of downloading live bootlegs. This one file had a thing where the left channel played a few seconds before the right channel, making it glitched. I had to use Audacity to match both channels, which was easier than anticipated. The only problem left is that the transition from the edited track to the next is a bit off, but it's a very minor issue that doesn't bother me.

That fucking thing is likely a leftover from a mistake in setting up the maximum filesize allowed for the avatar (which that user seemingly has yet to change):

When I registered an account, the size was 125 x 125, 19.1 KB (on the Edit Avatar page); at some point, that number became 1.91 MB (and it remained like that for months). Luckily, most users recognized the obvious mistake and didn't take advantage of it, but some guys (like Sparktank up there), had +400 KB animated .gifs as avatar. Imagine what that meant for stuff like server~loads.

Also, keep in mind that users who donated money when the Shrine had those "downtimes" have privileges like bigger avatars, or maybe a bigger storage for private messages.

Damn, i should have snuck one in, nothing excessive, but 24.4 kb really isn't much...
