FINALLY just downloaded StRuPiE's Ultimate edition of The Thin Red Line film mix. So I'm now going through the recording sessions and trying to match the slates from them with his version. Because he foolishly removed the slates before he made his version, AND he renamed cues. Bloody brilliant :p

I can't rename every single cue from an entire score. I'm not that good at coming up with that many names, plus most of the time the original cue title works.

intrada's newest release, available this Tuesday, premiers a lengthy 84-minute Disney score for large orchestra and chorus, packed with action, thrills, humor, warmth and heart. It runs across two discs and features an additional 11-minutes of alternate and unused cues and... it arrives just in time for Halloween!

They've already released Hocus Pocus, and The Nightmare Before Christmas doesnt have chorus... WTF is it?!

I'm hoping its Mark Mancina's Score for The Haunted Mansion... That score release is WAY overdue! Plus it fits the description Doug gave. The film is 99 minutes... and I know there's chunks of the film with no music or source cues so it could be 84 minutes of score...

Mr. Gold, any ideas?

You see, if news press would actually strive to include this information and make it a priority, people can understand better than making automatic comments.

I converted Hugh Jackman's Van Helsing into black and white with avisynth using ConvertToGrey, which will ensure that there are no chroma colors bleeding into the film.
If I had spent the time and tried adding colors over certain scenes, the movie could have been improved instead of pure desaturation of colors.
There are so many different scenes to a movie.
All of them carefully shot for color in mind.
The opening was shot for black and white so it turns out perfect in black and white.
The rest of the movie being converted to black and white (grey) without extra efforts, is just pure luck.

But this makes me want to try out some tweaking with color filters.
Probably something like convert the frame to have a certain hue and then apply ConvertToGray.

There must be a technical channel on youtube that will explore this process.
Even just as a proof of concept.

The red tape to get all the features on the first run is a long waiting list and all the studios need the blurays out before other countries release barebones blurays and everyone pirates those.

It would mean delaying the original bluray release for a long time to finesse the black and white details.

I'd rather a multiple disc set.
Having multiple versions on the same disc produces garbage.
Everything becomes bitrate starved and you see banding. A lot.

I'm not sure you will ever get it the same, to be honest. They have raw footage and are able to 100% manipulate it in whichever way they want to. Who knows, they may tweak certain scenes to be slightly different n'all. Still, it's a good way to avoid buying it! :p

It was regarding Franz Schubert's String Quartet No. 13... in the post I linked to a video showing a part from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, in which Stan Lee makes a cameo appearance. You can hear a section from the second movement in the background, it takes place at a sort of fancy party. He's trying to get into the party, and the guy at the front won't let him in, even though he's actually Stan Lee. "Nice try, buddy." Just deciding on which version of the second movement of Bruckner's 7th to include on the complete score edit of Call of Duty I'm working on. It would be an added bonus track in addition to the Phonograph and Radio variants from the game's files.

The version I have from the album Bruckner: The Symphonies is nearly apt enough, though it doesn't precisely match the pace and technique of the version featured within the game. From some research I discovered that the source utilized in the game is a recording conducted by Wilhelm Furtw�ngler. Well, I may have located the source they used; a recording which is conducted by Furtw�ngler, but it differs enough for me to conclude it isn't the exact recording (for example, I heard a cough or two at a moment there isn't in the game's version, along with other subtle but noticeable differences in the performance).

By virtue of how I just don't recognize it as the very same recording, I think there may be multiple recordings conducted by Furtw�ngler existent of this symphony. Even with what's used in the game being compressed to some extent, and what with phonograph crackles and pops applied to it, I can still tell if it's the same recording. It's just something I'll recognize when I hear it, if whichever one I might come across would be the same recording. Since I don't easily foresee myself actually finding the same performance, I've acquired a decent sum of newer recordings (which would sound better anyway, than a presumably 1945+ recording) that replicates closest to the recording used for the game, and will choose whichever from that point.

'76 or '06?

'76, of course! :p This would be my second time watching it, the first was around this same time last year. I enjoyed and loved it then, and I'm doing so even more now.
The main character is so awesome. In some ways, almost like Charles Bronson. How? I don't know, something about him. Kind of hard to explain. :p

Some other things in particular; Goldsmith's score is just great, the choral cues are some of the best and ominous characteristics of the film, not to mention the main title; just terrifying, with the chanting of "Hail Satan".

And how about some of the specific scenes? "It's all for you!" That one was shocking.

One of my favorite and very iconic scenes was the death of the priest by lightning to spear then death. That shot I'll never forget. It's a cool, but disturbing image. Or like how resistant Damien was to the church they were arriving at, or anything of religious nature by that matter. And he was immensely frightened. Being the one of the devil, that comes as no surprise. But it's how I can describe this movie. Strongly dsturbing, ominous, so on and so forth. I think it's truly one of the greatest "horror" movies of all time.

And how about the 2006 remake? Isn't it shot-for-shot? Ever seen it it?

Liev Schreiber tries too hard to do Gregory Peck's voice.
Put's you to sleep.

Only Beltrami's score is worth it.
And he has a lovely rendition Goldsmith's and his own themes.
It's a hybrid of '76 + '06.

Some neat scenes that are new to the movie, but you can catch it in the trailers.

Supposedly, the first print of the film got burned in an accident, according to IMDb trivia page.
So they had to reshoot the entire movie.
Which would explain the sub-par acting in the movie.

Look up the trivia for both films.
The trivia for the original is more interesting.
Trivia for the remake seems placed and coordinated for hype.

Me and my YouTuber buddy sat on ARK for pretty much 16 hours straight one day. That sure was fun.

I tell no lie.

We were playing on our modded server, imprinting some Gigas.
Basically, for that series our community was split into two groups, who throughout the season tamed, bred and built their own structures and dinos without the help of the other team. There was 4 people on each team. The aim was that their team built a raid base, that we then have to try and destroy at the end of the season.

Their team was active. Very active. Pretty much two people online every single night. Our team, however. It was me and my buddy playing, and that was it. 2v4, pretty much. This session was two days before raid day, and our lazy teammates had absolutely nothing done in preperation for it, so me and him had to do everything on that day. We bred and 100% imprinted so many goddamn dinos and had to teleport each of them individually outside their raid base, having to fly back every. single. time.

We were both tired and the raid video wasn't as fun knowing that our teammates coincidentally showed up on that day complaining they had no dinos.

Messy. It's messy. Awful lot of fuck-ups. Organization isn't that great, nor are the VST strings, but overall the percussion track I chose made the cue. Gave it some driving force. I've got some good stuff in here, I'm gonna re-work it a little.

Edit: I didn't realize that the loop of percussion I had set 80 repeats on was taking up the 16 minutes. The actual stuff I played was only 3 or so minutes long. :erm:

I didn't think there would be excessive house remodeling in the house, but there is.

Days ago, they had to replace the shower doors with curtains, since my dad had a harder time with them in his troubled condition. So much for those old that have been there all my life.

Today, because they've been meaning to have proper furniture for the new TV, they've decided to replace A LOT in the house. More notably, they replace my set up that has been in the room for longer than I've been born to be replaced with a much smaller one.

I feel there was no need for today, but I can't do anything about it.
