Desplat can be big and loud when he wants to be (Deathly Hallows Part 2, Godzilla). His take on Star Wars would have been... interesting to say the least. I think it would have been a more emotionally driven Star Wars score than we're used to. Giacchino will do a good job though. His scores are always great. I mean... he's taken over from Williams before and it's turned out great (Jurassic World). I just hope the industry isn't gonna go nuts for Giacchino leading to him being stretched too thin what with Doctor Strange, Rogue One, The Book Of Henry and War For The Planet Of The Apes all over the next 12 months. And that's presuming Marvel don't want him for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Jurassic world isn't spectacular, but it's not that bad either. I haven't loved much of anything Giacchino has done since Star Trek Into Darkness. (I haven't heard or seen Zootopia yet, so relax.) It does seem like he's being spread too thin.

I'm excited to hear how he's going to score Rogue One though. You can hear bits of William's-ness (https://youtu.be/GjNM-X-ONH0?t=1m46s) in Speed Racer and I love it. Hopefully he can give it the attention it deserves.

Just updated my dad's iPod touch to iOS 10. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Tried it to see if it's really as bad as it looked, and it's awful. First, let's talk about the new music app.

A.) It looks like absolute shit. It looks outdated. Ghetto.

B.) Album view is no longer a list, it's now a grid of the albums and they're big. I thought the list view was better. Apparently not.

C.) Timecode has been removed from songs. If you want to find it how long a song is, you gotta select/play it to find out!

D.) Genius has been removed

E.) For lyrics (if you're like me and you add the lyrics to your music), you no longer simply tap the album cover. You now have to scroll way the fuck down to reach them. This also means you can't immediately pause the song. You gotta scroll back up.

F.) To now "love" a song, you have to hit the small options button below the volume bar.

G.) This one's a given - but the whitewash. Soooooo sooo soo much white. Take that how you want, maybe I mean t in more way than one ;)

If you people just bothered to read what I fucking write you'd know I said ages ago that I'm getting a Huawei phone nonetheless. Concretely possibly Honor 8, but there's still months til Christmas so we'll see, No matter how pretty iOS is I just can't afford one, besides I want to be open for once in a phone after being stuck with a even more closed phone which is Windows Phone.

Mission: Impossible 2. I haven't been advertising it much.

For some dumb reason, the filmmakers decided to heavily downplay Lisa Gerrard's vocals in the final mix for Seville. In the sessions version, it's displayed in full force, while it barely shows up in the film.

Had it stayed, the sessions version would've been the film version, as everything else is the same. In trying to edit, the final result I had was a mix that had 10% SFX, where it was notable in the particular area I'm referring to.

It's undoubtedly a classic, both as a musical score and film, but I'm not all that familiar with its score aside from a select few cues, I would like to give it more attention, and bring about my familiarity of the score, as I have for others, i.e. The Message. Now onto the final, third disc, which is of some bonus content.

Trying to 'write' a theme as memorable as Lawrence of Arabia's; there's a cue I did a while ago, that, when I thought about it recently, would work well in a second or third section as part as an 'overture' similar to Lawrence of Arabia's. I'm thinking there should be a main motif that the one I have now could lift off of, be formed from, or feels apart of it.

Well... Even if I managed to come up with a tune that may even be remotely close to how exceptional LoA's theme is, it might as well be hidden by the shitty VST instruments I've to my use at the moment.

Sound and quality of the instruments is more or less half the battle.

Get the pseudo-stereo plugin for Audacity. It works pretty well.

Interesting. A lot of the more likable cues show up normally on OSTs anyway. The composers do know what to pick.

Sessions are for the odd cues that got left out, but in a much rawer form. Not as suitable to casual listening.

I've had pet reptiles since I was 5 years old. Corn snake for Christmas was the first one.

That's awesome, racers are pretty cool. One of my garter snakes once had babies. I let them go in my backyard over the summer and one day in the fall my brother and I were in the backyard digging (as all boys do). I lifted up a rock and one of em quickly slithered away.

This guy (no name yet, we're still trying to figure it out. My brother wants to incorporate Native American into it and somehow use the white foot pattern on his head towards the name) is a live feeder. Pinkies. The slip that was shipped with him says he was last fed on the 9th, so it's been 5 days. We're gonna try tonight.
