Guys, I'm working on a gamerip of TRAUMA CENTER: Second Opinion for the Wii as a request of someone a month or two ago, finally got a complete gamerip and I'm working on it. SECOND OPINION is a Wii remake or enhancenemnt of the first TRAUMA CENTER: Under the Knife. Both are the same game, just one the original, the other quite enhanced and just a few additional things. The game disc includes both the Wii and DS soundtrack. Should I add the two in the same package, or make them separate gamerips? Should I add the DS tracks as a bonus? Should I make a thread, and make a separate gamerip for Second Opinion and Under the Knife? Should I just make a few MEGA accounts and offer all and anyone gets to choose whatever they want?

I'm going through iTunes and replacing all my SD movies with Blu-ray rips. It's amazing that the size of an SD movie in iTunes is larger than a Blu-ray rip. But I guess because they're compressed. Currently swapping out Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and boy doe sit look pretty.

The series premiere of Fringe aired 7 years ago tonight. Tuesday, September 9th, 2008. So Imma celebrate by popping in the Blu-ray and watching the Pilot. Gonna grab some Tostitos. And I'm also craving an ice cold can of Barq's.

Yeah. It's compressed horribly.
"mHD" (microHD) is meant for mobile devices and people with limited internet abilities.
If they're not mHD encodes, then they're just encodes by people with low standards.

"Pretty" is indeed relative.
Compared to the iTunes SD, yeah anything would be pretty.
Compared to 700MB.avi, yeah, that too.

POTC3:AWE for 1080p should be around 13-14GB.
720p around 8-9GB.

That way you get "transparent" quality to the bluray.
Just like AC3@640 is transparent to DTSHDMA. To an incredibly large population.
MP3@254 *can* transparent to flac. (VBR@2/VBR@0, especially)
AAC@~224 *can* be transparent to flac.

How you compress with x264 (open source endcoder; commercial encoders are like Sony and others) will make all the difference.
The longer you take to encode with higher quality settings, the more "transparent" the encode will be.

If you look at lower quality encodes (especially mHD), you can see blocks, banding, noise and other encoding artifacts in the final encode.
For most movies using actual film, with grain and noise, you can cut down on the grain/noise by downsizing to 720p.
Then when you play that back on 1080p, the player will upscale to match monitor/tv resolution, depending on the software (codecs, renderers), you can get better picture delivery.

MPC-HC + MadVR is the way to go. :coolegg:

If "HD" encodes are smaller than any iTunes SD version, then that's a very poor "scene" encode from a public torrent site.
Public trackers don't have quality-standards or any rules about quality.
Anything goes, so a lot of it is just quick-and-dirty encodes for fastest download/smallest internet.

Just got home from work. Back to doing school pictures (AKA "Picture Day") with the kiddies!!

The iTunes 1080p files for TV shows are pretty good imo.

For TV, anything goes.
The iTunes should surpass the original DVD's, if the shows were made recently.

Shows like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, made centuries ago, the DVD's (if encoded right) will look better than the iTunes SD counterparts.

And, usually, with most shows, 720p should look absolutely better.

In case of "The Walking Dead" (where it still uses actual film, with a lot of grain), you'll want 720p to hide the crap quality artifacts.
I think iTunes encodes 1080p with 720p settings.
Meaning, 720p is optimal.
In most cases, the 1080p series is only about 50MB more than the 720p series.
Which means it's not preserving any more quality, at all.
With grainy, noisy shows that were shot with film (and not digitally), you'll see a crapload more of artifacts on the 1080p compared to the 720p.

HDTV captures are best, when it comes to TV.
Most TV shows (today) will broadcast in 1080i. Rarely ever in progressive. Even if you set your box to play in progressive.
Any torrent site that has "1080p" for HDTV capture, is simply creating a fake progressive from 1080i.
With 1080i, you can't recover 1080p.
It's best to go down to 720p. :smrt:
Simple logic. (if you spent enough time to actually learn video processing/encoding)
But, public sites do as they please since there are no rules. :rolleyes:

TV and movies: always 720p where iTunes is involved.
Amazon is another story/beast. 1080p all the way where Amazon is concerned.

I would still advise 720p when it comes to iTunes.

Animation has no details, so you can easily live with 720p and rename it to 1080p and no one would be none-the-wiser. ;)

Live-action anything: 720p iTunes all the way.
There's very rare cases where the 1080p is actually decent.
Most recent case is "Mad Max Fury Road".
But you could easily mix-and-match frames from the 720p encode and the 1080p encode to get the perfect mix.
Both encodes were done using completely different settings that it was entirely moot to try compare frames between each, as both had different types of frames (I, P, B frame encoding types) for each frame in each version. Which is very much amateur hour.

I think iTunes is trying to improve over all these years of public information for HD quality encoding.

720p has greater chances of hiding blockiness and banding over the 1080p monsters. For iTunes.
When it comes to iTunes, there is always blocks. Destruction and artifacts.
Of course, if you're wathing on a phone, it doesn't matter what you use. It all gets downsized to 240p. :smrt:

If the sources was bluray, that would make sense.

When it comes to iTunes, the pixels don't get any quality.
The bitrate and encoding settings are optimized for 720p.
That's why most things for iTunes between 720p and 1080p has only about 20-90MB maximum difference.
Which doesn't amount to quality difference at all.
It's like they just upscale 720p to 1080p.

For 1080p, you'll want a blu-ray source. Then they could at least apply the right settings to get transparent 1080p details.
Older movies that use film, or newer shows that still use film, 1080p, you're looking at a huge difference from 720p.
720p film = 7-10GB
1080p film = 13-18GB
That depends how grainy/noisy the movie is.

iTunes does not optimize their 1080p encodes for actual 1080p details.

Watching Walking Dead, Hmm Could Never Really Get Into Zombie Shows Donno Why, But I Hear TWD Is Very Good.

Grew up with the original George A. Romero zombie flick that started it all: Night of the Living Dead (1968) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063350/)
Once Romero did "Land of the Dead (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0418819/)" (2005), quality for story/acting/directing has gone down hill.

Land of the Dead was at least decent, since it first introduced wild ideas about zombies that were more zombie than zombie.
"Dawn of the Dead (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363547)" remake was really good.
But when LOTD came along, it introduced some ideas everyone once thought about when it comes to zombies.
It's actually the first zombie movie that made me sympathize with zombies since it made them look almost human.
It's sad to see the zombies like that in Land of the Dead. :sad:

The Walking Dead far more closely resembles George A. Romero's first zombie flick in that it focuses a lot on human perspective in such times and that the zombies appear to be "true zombies".

True zombies: have no motor skills. No function. The cartoons that depict them as brainless beings needing to feed on brains is accurate.

Advanced zombies: develop motor skills and have some brain functionality.
Resident Evil (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120804) franchises uses military chemicals and science to engineer a zombie that can act beyond deceased brain activity.
Some of the more advanced creatures of the Resident Evil "Umbrella Corperation" can see and think then react. Because they are bread for the solitary puprose of destruction (of the enemy).
28 Days Later (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289043) "zombies" have insane speeds for running. And it's not just bites and scratches, but also just mere blood drops can infect someone else.
World War Z (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120804) (film; don't know about the book), depicted fast zombies, too. But they couldn't hold a metal pipe like Resident Evil zombies could. They weren't created for the sole purpose of a nice screenshot/trailer-shot.

I think The Walking Dead is the most accurate depiction.
Human VS human.
Human VS zombie.
Human VS inner-self.

Although, I can't stand to read the comics after watching the series.
I did that with Sin City (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401792).
I watched the movie, bought 2 graphic novels related to the first film, then watched unrated/uncut version that covers all 3 books related to the film verbatim.
Never been so pissed that a film depicted a book so accurately before.
I was so bored and restless just hearing the movie while reading the graphic novels related.
I gave up entirely and never watched the movie again nor read the graphic novels.

I love adaptations.
Nothing should be like the books or source.
Everything becomes boring and predictable, why would you even involve yourself anything after that?

and I got History, although I didn't want it.

It's scary. There's so much info.
English seems fun. ICT seems fun. Media Studies was the best lesson I've ever had.

I think selfies and other narcissistic pursuits - for example the I-Love-Me walls on Facebook - are the reason the zombies conquer humans: a majority of the human race will be so enraptured looking in the Narcissus Mirror that are smartphones and social media we won't look up in time to see the doom shambling towards us.

I wouldn't be surprised if some twat's final act is posting a selfie of him or her being eaten alive.

Of course zombies aren't real, but they are a metaphor for the many problems the human race sees coming but that we ignore.

Defeating Azetlor for the 31st time.




Unpacked all the .POD files for the game, finally.
Found all the voice files in German, English, French and Italian, all the music in true lossless, although I've had them a while, and every single sound effect used in the game, all game-models, art textures, cutscenes, and the models for the actual levels - The Sedgewick Hotel... Azetlor's Lair! I'm very happy.

Music
The music got extracted to SMP. I can play and convert them using Foobar.
Wondering - if I convert the SMPs to FLAC will they stay true lossless? I'd prefer MP3 - I could do an extremely high bitrate but I don't think it'll sound as good even then.
For easy use, I think I'll use WAV. iTunes supports it, right?

SFX
I am not too bothered about these - I mean, they're ultra cool to listen to (as I used to do short movies on *COUGH*Minecraft*COUGH* and I'd upload them). So if I ever revisit those times, which I most likely won't, but if, IF I do, I'll convert the ones I need. There's upwards of 3,000 SFX in the game, converting them all is just a waste of space.

Textures
The textures are, surprise surprise, .TEX. How do I open these? I wouldn't mind taking a look at them.

Models
This is where I will need somebody super-experienced to help me out. The models from the game are all .SMB. How in holy hell do I open these?
I would like to view some of the hidden animations, maybe even create my own custom awesome Azetlor profile picture for here. I'd love that.

Yeah, and that's not including the disk I also had to install. My small 500GB XB1 hard drive is comprised of: Destiny and MCC. No room for anything else LOL

True, but a update that huge? Most updates are in the single digits, and if it ever does reach 2 digits, it usually no more than 15gigs. So what the hell kind of update requires 32 gigs?!

Basically another game's worth of content. Like MCC had a 40GB disk but also a 20GB update that was MULTIPLAYER alone because it wouldn't fit on the disk..
I suppose TTK has the same idea. The disk took 3 hours to install and it's still now installing the 32GB update

Idk what source you got that from, but from first hand experience, being an XB1 owner, you are required to install the disk so the game can run smoothly. Then, having the disk acts as a key. So you can't borrow someone else's game, install it and give it back. You need the disk or digital key in order to play it.

Also, you do not need to be connected to the internet to play games.
I have been playing Dragon Age Inquisition offline since it released so I can exploit the bugs it has.
And that's playing it from the disk.

Like when you install a computer game, all the files are there, but you can't play it without the disk.

Questioning something that I now ask you all for a bit of help.

I've been doing rips of my CD collection to upload here for y'all. Now I'm asking myself. I've done WAV and FLAC rips of the discs. Should I completely ditch WAV, do people who want lossless most want FLAC rather than WAV? It's .WAV on tracks, it'd make sense if it was an image but it isn't, so I guess you could say it's not worth the uploading? I originally say this because I want to offer the most format possible, FLAC, MP3, ALAC, etc.

They are your Uploads, you call the shots, if someone tries to get cross because he doesn't like the format you use,
well, that's just too bad for him...

Me personally ? Kinda prefer .WAV the most, it just feels right to me, but if it's FLAC, APE, TAK or something else ?

I like WAV. Love it.
Huge filesize, sure, but much easier to do things with and a lot of players support it.

Whereas FLAC is a smaller filesize. I will say that I still prefer FLAC to MP3...
BUT! I can't get FLAC to work with my iTunes. So generally that's why I attempt to steer away, but I'd definitely get FLAC over MP3.

Yeah, iTunes supports m4a, AAC, MP3, WAV and AIFF. Pretty nice range. *COUGH*FLAC
But my folder is organised like this:


I don't know why I organise them like that - but I just prefer myself to find the artist, then the album.
I use iTunes as my primary player, mainly because WMP comes with a bunch of errors - usually the album art is larger than the window itself, it constantly crashes 20 seconds into a song...
And iTunes is colourful. :)

Well, there was a car accident outside.
Two women drivers drove through an intersection with no traffic lights.
There was a cross-walk, so they both felt the right of way to speed through.
*BAM*

No one was hurt or killed.
No pedestrians injured.

Man, were they loud. The crash I mean. :laugh: Not after the crash. Surprisingly they were quiet.
They actually avoided each other. Just one shouted to the other to check if the other party was okay.
Kind of weird. Is that what people do now? Don't exchange information? Just buy off witnesses with pity stories and puppy dog eyes?
