I really want a National Treasure 3. The last I heard, Turtletaub and the cast all wanted to do it, but they were having a hard time writing a vaguely believable script. Jon said they all wanted to do it, but that they'd only do it if they had a good enough story.

It's now been 8 years since Book of Secrets came out.

And that stuff about page 47 was damn intriguing. I think it had something to do with Ed Harris' character, Wilkinson. There's something about him throughout the movie that they never developed. They never tell you what Wilkinson's real reason was for wanting to find the City of Gold. Then the president asks Gates to read page 47. Then there's that tense scene climbing up the mountainside when Gates and Wilkinson have a little standoff and Gates tells Wilkinson that he has to leave his firearms behind if he wants to come with them. Wilkinson asks: "Why should I do that?" Gates gives him a knowing look and replies: "Because you need that treasure. Trust me, I know." Wilkinson then agrees to leave the guns behind.

Then, when they've found the City of Gold, Wilkinson apologises for staining the Gates family name, saying it was "the only way to get [Ben] on the hunt." But he never says why he needed to find the treasure.

Then, after Wilkinson dies and the others escape the collapsing/flooding city, Ben tells the president that Wilkinson helped them find it. The president then gives him a funny look and says: "Is that so? Boy, I am curious about that favour I asked you. Any report regarding what's on page 47?" Gates replies: "I believe I can help with that, sir." The president says: "So it's good?" to which Gates replies "Life-altering, sir." They then walk off together.

To my mind, it's painfully obvious there's a connection between what's on page 47 and Mitch Wilkinson.

Although I read a rumour somewhere that Cage's line "Life-altering, sir." was improv and they kept it in the final cut for fun.

Despairing over my sister. She comes into my room as I'm working and we have a chat, and she asks me why I've got my old-earphone-jack-wired-to-stereo-speakers plugged into my laptop instead of my portable SoundSquare bluetooth speaker.

So I reply "Because it's stereo!" And she says "Pfft. A single speaker is fine for me."

So I get her to stand behind me whilst I demonstrate the difference by putting the two speakers together behind my laptop and playing "Real Gone" (Sheryl Crow, Cars soundtrack) and then putting them back on each end of my desk and playing the same thing.

I think she understood the difference, but I just don't understand why she couldn't care less! Maybe it's because she doesn't listen to awesome music like I do. :p

I had similar experiences trying to explain why widescreen is superior to pan and scan. Usually their eyes glazed over like day old donuts followed by the utterance of "but it" - pan & scan - "fills the whole screen. The other one has black bars on the top and bottom of the screen."

The advent of HD TV saved my sanity, prevented me from being arrested on multiple charges of reckless homicide and rendered the argument moot.

I haven't broken it to the point where it has stopped working. A plastic bit of the joints between the screen and keyboard has snapped off.
Now I have a loose side of the screen with the metal and wires poking out behind it. It still works but every time I adjust my screen I have to move everything back into place. If I can.

Backing up my Music Collection (700 GB of FLAC for Archiving, 230 GB of VB0 and CBR MP3s for listening to) onto
2 more newly bought 2 GB External Harddrives.

Call me paranoid, and i am sure it's a modest Collection (43.600 MP3s) compared to some here, but i've grown real fond of it,
there'd be a 95% probability that losing it due to a Hardware failure would
send me into a murderous Killing Spree lasting Days or Weeks even. ^^

I'm going away for a week first, from 7th - 12th, then I get back on Saturday 12th after lunch, head straight out to perform one last time with my string quartet, and then I'm off on Sunday morning.

So I need to be packed and ready before I go away on Monday 7th. Time to go get the boxes out...

Cherry on top of the evening.
