That's one of the things I love about the game. It's hard. It's a tough game, it really is; and it annoys me when people step into it thinking it'll be a piece of cake.
Try taming a super fast bird, seven times your size, while it flies away from you at speeds you can't keep up with, desperately attempting to tranq it to the floor. I had to jump off cliffs with a parachute, shoot it once or twice, then run for ten minutes to find it and do the same again.

And, y'know, all this time you have to actually survive. Food, water, and other threats, too. But god is it worth it.
Sorry. I love the game a bit too much.

Steam says I have 9.6 hours in the game, and I haven't played it for weeks because I found it a little boring. I'm gonna wait until the game is actually released and out of early access before I play it again, I think.

Stranded Deep is another good survival game. Less content than The Forest, right now, but a lot of potential.

Speaking of ripping blurays, I just watched the "Super-sized R-rated" (extended) version to Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1229340/technical) and it has a musical number in it, so that's probably going to get ripped very soon.
Might as well rip the first movie, too for their tiny little number where they do "Afternoon Delight". Turn it into a ringtone.

So starting last night, I've been trying to compile a list of takes from the "R-rated" version and the "Unrated" version to make a hybrid of the two movies.
I definitely want to keep the music bit in there, but change some of the jokes around.

This is going to take a long time. I'll have to watch the both movies, scene by scene to cross-check them and pick the dirtiest, unrated jokes. :laugh:
And even extend some of them because they shorten some of Brick's scenes! (the chroma key and the green pants)

It can be. Once you setup the house, there's not much else to do except maybe hunt down the cannibals.
I think they should expand the world more, make it bigger and make it a hunting/tracking game like one of those western movies (Bone Tomahawk).
Give it a sense of mystery and goals.

There's multiplayer now for the game.
That should add some dynamic playback to it.

Finding it very hard to sleep.

Just as I thought, I had to delete the remux I made for MoS to make room.

I found Interstellar though.
So I ran it through avisynth to get a fingerprint of the general color pallete for each frame in the film.

It's a lot darker than normal since the movie switches aspect ratios.
The 2.35:1/2.4:1 AR scenes with black bars will affect the outcome because the script averages all the colors.

If I want to make a more accurate representation, I'd have to crop the whole movie to same dimensions (1920x800).
But that would lose any data in the expanded areas for the IMAX scenes.

Given how avisynth works, I can't mix and match different dimensions, either, unless I resize all cropped scenes to 1920x1080 to match the maximum resolution of the IMAX scenes.
...that might actually work better, but I would have to select the scenes by hand and do a couple hundred new lines of editing to get it just right.
That hybrid of 23fps for cropped scenes and 48fps for IMAX scenes had to be stopped for awhile because it took a long time just to isolated the scenes down the very frame for what gets interpolated and what does not. :s

Anywho, color fingerprint of Interstellar.
Average color pallete for every single frame, including the frames with black bars and uncropped IMAX scenes.
Upscaled the fingerprint to 4K.

convert the audio to mono and run it against a waveform printer and merge it all.

I asked them how they did it, didn't get a response, so I took it to a trusty forum for video editing and asked them how to replicate it and a solution was produced.

I made one for Inception and it was beautiful.

Wait until you see it mixed in the waveform of the movie's main audio.

In the custom covers thread, I put up some examples and others were able to warp it to reflect the worm/black hole physics that we see in the film.

I just did it twice... V_V

Also, that's a different type of 4K.
2160p, by height.
If I go by width, it'd be 4096 � 2304.
Both are for 16:9 widescreen.

I'm going to go through all my avs scripts and do some revisions...

Overclocking a recently bought AMD FX 8320e on a brand new Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 while listening to 'Crimson Peak' (lovely score). Right now I�m at 3.8 Ghz, 1.1825 volt, LLC 25%, Prime stable for 45 minutes (was the same with even less voltage). Temperatures are more than good even though I ordered a second fan for the Noctua cooler and a new fan for the case. Need to watch the temperature for the VRMs.

No kidding: some programs exploit the gpu for video encoding now. Very convenient and surprisingly fast. The problem with Intel is that they are too expensive, especially if you want some decent oc. Or just spend 1000 bucks for a 5960, Not forgetting the equally expensive ecosystem needed for that thing, and you're practically done for the next 4 years. Fast but broke ;)

He really made it. The others did good.
Tony Shalhoub was an excellent supporting background character.
Sigourney Weaver was really just there to be in it.

Intel is faster, especially if you're using some of the filters as they are heavily optimized for single-threaded processing, something AMD sucks at atm. Uhh I care? It's one of the best Queen songs and has an awesome remix for the trailer. Especially when the piano (my FAVORITE part of the song) is slowed down in the beginning. That hit the spot.

I'm hoping now that the first trailer is out, they'll up the teaser, too.

The Unrated version has angry Jean Claude-Van-Damn from his Kickboxer movie.
The Super-sized R-rated version has something else. Not as good.

Just listened to the stems of the newest Suicide Squad trailer. The the stems are in Mono (Including the music), but they do have a "Stereo Music & EFX" version. And while it is stereo, its the music and SFX mixed together. :/ Most of the time when a studio offers a trailer with "Stereo Music & EFX" its usually separate stereo tracks, not mixed.

I loathe Warner Bros.' uniformity in their stems. ALL of their trailers have mono stems, especially when 99% of the time there's nothing in the narration channel... why not use it for stereo music if it's gonna be blank, eh?

And I'm pissed that the comic-con stems were never put up. :sad:

Their stems are kinda like their Blu-Ray releases. They never want to change anything :P

Back when they posted the Interstellar trailers, they had a mono AND stereo version of the trailers. IDK why they don't do that now.

If you take a look there are actually a lot of films that do that still... they'll have a 4-channel mono stems mix for one version of a trailer and a 4-channel stereo music/fx mix for another version.
