Scanning is a bit annoying for me, because it's hard to get the good angle right, then using Photoshop to fix it, since the scan is lots of dirty, needs color correction, etc.

You could try talking to Bonesatyr, he's got the best Scans, period.

I am sure he could give you some Tips....

You can't do much about how dirty it looks.

And since you're new generation, you have no idea what it used to be like.
The dots are necessary. If you scan at 5000x, you're going to get 25000 dots.
They're equal to film grain in movies.
They're what contains all the details.
Blur that out and you got a crayon picture.

Color correction comes from a too bright scan.
Usually because external light leaked in around the edge. Throw a sheet over the scanner before using it.
There should be settings to not scan at a luminence equal to the sun.
Use brightness/contrast/gamma filters to darken it. Touching any color filters alter the original intent of the image.

The only way you're going to get perfect angles is if you cut up everything so there's no folding crease.
And spends minutes of doing nothing but folding against the bend to flatten it for the scanner.

But seriously, my problem with scanning in my scanner (which is a printer) is mostly about getting the angle right, straight, and second, a few slight scanning problems, and third, just cleaning, CLEANING, just a slight cleaning and color correction and editing. EVERYONE does it when they scan stuff, I dunno why you have to exagerate it to such extent.

From the looks of the changelog for 1.6, a lot of fixes have been made to the restoration.
While they do excellent work, there's still a lot of technical things they miss.
Mostly minor things, but if they end up in the changelog, they're pretty substantial.

I'm in the Midwest of the United States. The balance of weather here seems to be 60% cold/40% hot, and I deeply wish it was the opposite.

The weather itself can also be very sporadic. Like in the spring, it's been 40 degrees one day, than 60 or 70 the next.

It was a bit similar earlier in the summer, but now, it's finally decided on itself. :p

I'm pretty sure his steelbook or disc is just defective. I would think he liked the film.

He bought like 3 versions.
The steelbook probably has the least special features.

All the transfers are the same in picture/sound quality.
There haven't been any exclusive releases where one transfer got maximum bitrates or zero DNR or anything.
And all releases seem to be the 2.40:1 AR.

The only thing to stand out over all the other releases would be an exclusive Big Picture release, ala Transformers: RotF.
Which doesn't seem to be happening.

You would need to buy probably 2 just to get all the extra special features. One of them probably a digital download redemption.

The Dark Knight trilogy has different releases.
All the same movie transfer; just different special features.

Cosmetically, they all offer something different to look at for the slipcover/case.

That Fifth Element thread is a joke... I completely forgot I had that album before. I went perusing through my library and saw I only had a Fifth Element album going a little over 1 hour. I check the Shrine, see that lorddsp is sharing the complete version, so I ask him for it. Come the link, I listen to it and it's terribly muffled, lots of noise, cracks, etc. Terrible quality. Then I remembered why I stuck with the official remaster of the soundtrack... :) I doubt that score can be saved even by the likes of SonicAdventure or Spectre.

So I encoded it from DVCpro.

It was hideous. Anamorphic and severely banded.
The spotlight had its own layers of light shining down on whatsherface.
They went really cheap with this music video.
Aside from the singer, the next expensive item in the production was the costume.
The music video is very minimalist. Just like they did for The Hunger Games music video. The one that Lorde did.

Nothing too particular. There's so much space being taken up by 'documents and data' that I did not have the storage for additional music that I wanted to sync. I decided to wipe the slate clean and start over. There were albums that I was reluctant to remove until I actually realized I could do without some of them, at least for now.

I had a friend whose family believed if you took pictures, you take part of their soul.
They had some family photos but not a lot.
It's like every time they wanted to take a picture, they knew they were making a sacrifice.

She was very spiritual. Her friends were sensitive to "bad vibes" in old houses, they all had ghost stories to tell, some of them were vampires (psychic), and a few were just plain out of the left field entirely.

My friend today, also has some sensitivity to bad or old vibes.
She used to do cover songs on youtube with her guitar.
She stopped entirely one day when she was editing one of her videos and it came to a silent part but she heard someone whisper.
She lives with her dad and bf. But the house was empty except for the pets.
I think the whisper said "help me" or "get out". Those are the common things she hears in videos.

Electronic voice phenomena (EVP (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_voice_phenomenon)) is observed by some, but not all.
She experiences it sometimes.
When she heard the voice, she sent it to a friend to see if they could hear it.
She sent to one of her macho friends who isn't spiritual or religous and he got freaked the fuck out when he heard it.
She deleted it right away. She doesn't screw around with stuff like that and she doesn't upload it for it to be public so everyone can get their jollies.

Today, she still does not do any songs for youtube.
She mostly just does things like twitch and video games clips.

I've had lots of friends who were spiritual and sensitive to a lot of shit.

Me? There were a couple stories.
About 10 years ago, I used to get messages from my ancestors.
In my culture, when you see a white owl, it means someone's going to die very soon.
I was with my friends after work one time and we got high.
I looked up at the skies and this big white owl came swooping down at me.
It freaked me the fuck out.
Weed is not a hallucinogenic. The only way you can see shit on weed is if it's a spiked joint or you mix with other drugs that are hallucinogenics.
But that wasn't the case.
I told my family about it and 2 days later one of my father's brothers had died.
A lot of family members heard about me seeing the white owl and they got silently freaked out about it.
They had no idea what to say.

Before that, I was straight and sober one time and got woken up from a bad dream about some old guy coming at me.
He was floating in the air. He was upset about something.
When I woke up, he was still there. Coming at me and shouting.
I was so panicked I couldn't pay attention to what he was saying.
It was a really old house. I have no idea if it was a previous tenant or maybe a relative who just passed.

My mom used to see things, too.
It was much scarier for her because she was born and raised in a village then moved to a small town.
I was born in a town and eventually got moved to the city.
When you're surrounded by trees every day and night, everything is scarier. :laugh:

My friend with the youtube videos, her dad collects antique furniture.
He has nothing but old stuff in his house.
And every now and then they see things.
Her current bf saw something that freaked them out. It even got to the dog, too.
Not all the events actually upset the animals.
But the one time they saw an old lady, that upset the dog.
I still get freaked out inside just thinking of it.

I don't like the idea of hanging onto old things. Ancient things that still carry sentimental value.
The owner may have passed, but not the passion for possessing such things.
It's not like the old furniture or belongings will die off and join their owner.
Bringing home something old or keeping something old is like inviting something into your home you'll never have the luxury of knowing.

Old paintings, I really hate.
I think paintings can possess as much a person's soul as my friend believes cameras can.

Considering all the stuff I downloaded from here and else where, I really do need a new hard drive. Got about 100 GB left. Especially when I might do film mixes now.

And about the porn, websites are there. Get AdBlock mate. As much ads in those places really suck, it helps. That, or just save chunks. Clips do better than whole films. Photos are the best though. You can at least get exactly what you want, not all this other stuff I don't care for. Everyone has fetishes.

And you can't force HMTL5.
Some of the sites won't chnage because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach has worked well for them.
Even if they get hacked.

Going through private trackers, there's far less risk of hacking exploitations.
Just avoid any of the .WMV content because those can be exploited, too.

In the old days, it was common for people without any knowledge to download the newest movie from thepiratebay in .avi only to find out it was a hack.
Then there were .wmv's that were also malicious in nature.
In public trackers/torrents, there's always a chance that something is malicious.

The psychological body develops a numbness to the same level of committment so it needs more.
Starts out with a picture in a magazine. And could end up in the dark underbelly of the world.

It's really fucked up.

I've met people who need more and more and admit that not much does anything for them.
Even if they have a significant other.
They've just desensitized themselves to a ghoulish state of being.

Adblock allows ads, no matter what, for some sites.
I think Google bought them out?

uBlock origin also allows more blocking based on subscriptions (free, just a list added).
It's also more anonymous. In terms of collected data.

You forget some sites literally don't let you get in if you use adblock.

Example; shitty monefying ad links that Bart Oss uses.

Microsoft and other large companies have paid AdBlock so that their ads can slip through.

This is where uBlock works magic.
They block the ads but not the frame of the site so it allows the countdown. :smrt:

What I do with BO downloads?
I run the sites until it gets to AdFly.
Then I use JDownloader.

1) first linkbucks
2) second linkbucks
3) adfly
4) JDownloader --> success

That's how Adblock sold themselves out and why a lot switch to uBlock.
uBlock does things smartly enough to keep its users happy.

HTTPS Everywhere is great.
Some older sites might break this add-on, so if any sites have problems, try disabling HTTPSE and reload the browser to see if the site is still broken.

Disconnent is also great.

Adblock Edge has been seen to be no longer developed.
But I use uBlock, anyway.

NoScript is wonderful. Very advanced.
But very high maintenance and requires a lot of speicial attention.
Every site you go to, you have to disable scripts you don't want and then test which ones break the site.
You'll learn a lot about how sites are created using this.
Some sites depend on third-party scripting to function (imdb needs amazon, etc).

I got really tired of using NoScript. :laugh:
It works miracles on sites you've never been to before.

Ghostery's not a bad add-on to use as well.

It can bog sites down, but for browsing Rutracker, I want all the Russian filters enabled.

It's an mildly OK game, nothing good, nothing bad. Very bland to be honest. Not garbage though. I got it to work by deleting all files and re-downloading the whole thing.

I've actually decided to start doing custom mixes! Since DAK is about to finish the business publicly, it only makes sense for someone to try to follow his footsteps.

Try being stuck in Afghanistan or Africa. 100 degree plus heat while wearing full battle rattle. Tenerife is paradise.

Got off the plane an hour ago. My baby brother was acting like a shitbag throughout the entire flight, screaming through almost all of it. He didn't sleep through any of it, he fought sleep until his eyes went fucking purple.

Now I'm at Hilton: Manchester Airport where I will stay the night until I get my flight back to the Isle of Man tomorrow. Off to sleep now. Goodnight.
