I am managing. You just can't win with Film Mixes. But I am determined.

They bacially took different secions of the cues, and looped them to extend it by a few seconds.
Makes my job a lot harder. Couldn't just be fades. Nope. They HAD to cut, splice and loop stuff.
What's worse is, the ending of the first cue is different in the film than it is in the sessions. And I
have 3 alts for that cue. None of them are it. And I can't find where they would've pulled this
other ending from, God damnit, lol. I could take it from the Blu ray, it's clean. I'll have to go buy it though.

Doing film mixes are hellish tasks. Sound mixers play with the stems to fit the film's needs, which can sometimes be subtle or sometimes result in a totally different piece.

2 years ago our cousin's grandfather (on her side of the family) died. My mom, my aunt, my uncle (all 3 are siblings) my cousin and I went together just for support for my other aunt (my other cousin's mom). When we were picking up my uncle at his house, he wasn't ready for us so we had some downtime. Naturally I had my iPod and headphones on me and we were sitting on the couch together. I felt kind bad she didn't have anything (she was 8 at the time), and I was listening to Sent Here for A Reason. I figured an 8-year-old couldn't pass that up. So I asked her if she wanted to listen and gave hey my headphones. She said "I love the music from Man of Steel!" and my jaw dropped. I then texted my other cousin - her older sister, and she siad this was true. So the two of us sat on the couch waiting for my uncle while listening to the OST for a good half hour.

So after I gave her my headphones a few minutes ago, my aunt asks her what she's listening to. Of course she can't hear her, so I answered "the Man of Steel soundtrack". And she goes "oh, she loves that. She has the CD" (probably because I gave it to her older sister after I bought the Target exclusive red version) and I replied "Not this. This is custom. I made it" :p

My brother likes a few things here and there, but I'm mostly alone (see line below). I do have my one cousin (out of all 20 of us) who likes film scores but I'm on a completely different level.

And maybe you can do what I did and become close enough friends with someone on here and meet them in person. Now that's one more person in my life who listens to film scores and is into them as much as I.

I really want to catch up on this series.
Penguin was my favorite from the start.

Wishing I had a surround system so I could enjoy my movies the best way possible, with maximum quality sound, that pairs with the BD video.

I've never found surround sound to be terribly engrossing.

It can be really cool if used well, but more often than not is not much better than the stereo.

TV shows in particular have 5.1 mixes for the sake of having a 5.1 mix. That's why it's often easy to rip the music from them. :smrt:

I'm doing test encodes on a remux for it and it's super noisy.
It's not film grain, it's a lot of chroma noise with some film grain to it.
Overall, it looks great since it wasn't DNR'ed, not even the slightest.

It's been remastered from a 4K print (previously never transfered to anything with a 4K print; so "remaster" since the intermediate differs from previous intermediates). And it looks like they might have added more chroma noise than usual just to keep it looking normal.

Criterion Collection of David Lynch's "Mulholldon Drive" is adding noise to scenes over film grain to retain details.

When you downsize to 720p or even SD formats like DVD, it will be the best picture quality possible.

With sources so noisy like these, there's no point to have 1080p as there is no 1080p details.
Resizing to lower dimensions will hide a lot of the noise and give you what you actually want without having to use DNR or other crap.

I have yet to watch it all.
Really want to downscale it first to 720p or even 480p before watching just to maximize details.

What makes you think it's a new 4K print? I don't think so at all. It seems to me like a new 2K scan they did a few years ago that they have used now. Look at the HDTVs that had been running around over the internet. They look similar.

I've got an HDTV version and this one is far improved over it.

Hmm... although we don't explicitly use torrents here, some have made many options in their thread.
DDL (direct download link, that would be MEGA, MediaFire, etc) and/or torrent.

The only problem with that, though, is that most users wouldn't even know they have some options enabled in their client that would pose a security risk, not only to themselves, but everyone else included.
They wouldn't be able to figure out how to turn those insecure settings off, as everyone uses different clients/OS.
And then there's the small minority that would believe leaving those options enabled speeds up downloading/uploading, regardless of security issues.

Ummm... well, it's not technically on the wall. It's pinned on the large noticeboard that is provided in my flat room. Regulations prohibit any kind of "damage" to the walls, so I'm afraid that means no nails or even blu tack. I personally don't like pinning stuff up, as it makes holes in the poster, but it's either that or nothing at all.

Trying to sync my iPod. It doesn't want to register different covers for different tracks in one album, and I also can't seem to find the option to delete select music from my iPod from within iTunes. Seriously frustrating.

The new itunes is annoying keeps mucking things up and freezing.

Why anyone would ever want to use Itunes is beyond me...

I use iTunes because Media Player hates me - it crashes when I go fullscreen, when I rewind/fast forward, or when it moves on to the next song.

You can customize the way it looks, and it has a lot of little knick-knacks that make it fun to look at.

It can be hard to figure out at first, but if you put the time in you'll be able to make it into something you enjoy looking at and using.

I was thinking of having him install the one-month AnyDVD trial, which "patches" the DVD as far as the computer is concerned and allows him to import the menu track straight to Audacity.

You'd be surprised how many people watch movies on their PC with headphones.
Especially now that Xbox One supports bluray.

Should actually be DTS:X Headphone.
The mix should be very nice for DTS:X compatible headphones.

Some Turtlebeaches models support his and the reviews are very good for these DTS:X Headphone mixes for movies.

It's similar to using ambiophonics or crossfeed variations to simulate surround sound in regular headphones.

I truly fear the day when I have a computer catastrophe.

I still haven't ever made a real backup of my important files. That's something I really need to get on up and do.

Even if the Mac is forfeit, hopefully the hard drive will at least be salvageable.

Had a busy day, filming, rehearsing, etc. Just had pizza and am now considering watching a movie. I have so many to get through I can barely allow myself to go a night without watching something. I have to get up rather early tomorrow, but hey. :p

Have to make a giant A3 poster about exploring the deep ocean for fossils for first thing tomorrow since I was off school all last week.
I have only just finished the background. 23:16. Not too late. Unless you've spent seven hours on it at once, like me.
For the background I've cut out everything blue in my parents magazines and glued them to make a blue mosaic of awesome. I just hope the teacher knows what it's supposed to be.
Now to get upwards of sixteen facts and glue them in. And pictures. And a huge title.

Just about to click play on Source Code. The reviews look good, so I bought it in a charity shop last week sometime. Or was it the week before? I'm losing track of time. I can't believe I'm in my 5th week at uni already.

It is awesome, but I've been working on this for too long at once. I'm tired of it.
But I've got to do it, that's the thing. I'm stuck with it.
