I'm going to watch The Lord of the Rings again. Something has just made me want to watch it.

I still haven't seen these films yet. Nor the Hobbit trilogy either.

The books are absolutely amazing, and the 1978 animation of LOTR is brilliantly horrendous.

But a friend of mine really wants to show me the new films, and I want to see them, so we're going to arrange to meet up and watch them together. :)

The first films are beautifully done though maybe over-rated. Jackson was simply clever in taking advantage of novel technologies to bring to life what even in imagination was utterly awe-inspiring. They do remain a must see. However, skip the Hobbit trilogy. After watching them you run the real risk of not being able to appreciate Howard Shore's music in the same way and thinking Peter Jackson is just one big joke of a fluke... at least that's how I see him now. Yes, they are actually that bad. The first seeks to be a brain-less adaptation of "Waiting for Godot" set in Tolkien's world: nothing happens. The second is actually the most entertaining of the three blockbusters, though it really isn't saying much. The third is outright laughable, from beginning to end, lacking any redeeming quality.

The extended editions are the best.
But know that the color grading is different between the Theatrical and Extended cuts.

I still prefer the extended no matter what.

For the Hobbit, The Battle of the Five Armies has yet to be released.
In Oct, I think, this year, they're going to have limited theatrical extended releases to all 3 Hobbit films.

I only saw the first 2 in 48fps.
I think 48fps is only available in 3D.

48/3D
24
24/3D

Hobbit 1: 48fps/3D, then again but in 24/3D
HUGE difference. Much smoother in 48fps plus the 3D details were lost in the 24fps version.
Way more 3D details in the 48fps, probably because the added frame adds to the perception (the brain can easily more anticipate what is to be extended in depth).

Hobbit 2: same deal. 48/3D, 24/3D.

Hobbit 3: Could only afford one viewing.
I went with 24/3D/Atmos...
Unfortunately, the theater I went to was more of a gimmick for Atmos.
It was really just 7.1 in the end. The site advertises Atmos (at no extra charge).
It was less than significant.
Last time I go to that theater.

I remember several of these popping up.
One person used expensive software to do it. We're talking at least a couple thousand dollars.
And it wasn't an easily pirated program either. You really had to work to get the latest updates and the installation is far worse than repacking any Sony product in a box.

There is an avisynth (http://avisynth.nl/index.php/Main_Page) plugin that also helps:
InterFrame (http://www.spirton.com/interframe-2-8-2-released/) (Inter, because you interpolate frames to higher frame rates)
It's a good, fast solution for beginners. Can deliver very nice results.
Can be used in FFDShow for live playback in supported players that allow DSF (DirectShowFilters).
And avisynth (http://avisynth.nl/index.php/Main_Page) must be installed.
MPC-BC, MPC-HC, PotPlayer, etc.
VLC does not allow any external codecs, nor does it have FFDShow, so you can't use it in that.

My favorite is the same as InterFrame but way more advanced.
Requries player to use FFDShow and avisynth.
Much more robust than InterFrame.
SmoothVideo Project (SVP) (http://www.svp-team.com/)

I donated $10 to their campeign on IndieGOGO to be a pro member for life (free updates when they come out).
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/real-time-video-frame-rate-conversion-for-pc#/story
In less than half a week from when they opened their campaign, they exceeded their goal.
They updated to allow more goals and work on support for MAC and Linux users.

I can say, that over the years of using SVP, they've definitely improved the process to make it look as smooth as possible with the least amount of artefacts on-screen.
I've kept some test encodes over the years, and the most recent version (not the alpha V4 series) is definitely improved.

Mind you, with frame interpolating, there will be artefacts and other visual destruction.
It really depends on your system, the settings you choose and what type of video it is.

I love going double on everything I watch.
It's much smoother with less chance of artifacts appearing.
Plus it helps the pseudo-3D methods of the Pulfrich effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulfrich_effect) and ChromaDepth (http://chromatek.com/what-is-chromadepth/chromadepth-basic-explanation/).

SVP won't be releasing anything new for awhile until SVP4 is ready for stable release (not alpha/beta).

I guess as long as it's not in 48fps and doesn't look unnatural (which The Hobbit totally did, to me) then I guess I'd give it a shot. But it just looked wrong. And not to mention the overall "look" of the film. The entire trilogy, to be exact. It's like they have this soft, glowing, vignette on them. Like a stupid instagram filter or something. Don't know if that has anything to do with how they were shot, but I hated that as well. Compare Hobbit with LotR and there's a huge difference. I wish they were made the same exact way.

I'm just glad HFR hasn't taken off like Peter Jackson hoped/thought it would. As long as movies are still put out in 24fps, I'll be happy.

The Hobbit is best seen in the filmed 48fps and 3D, though.

I'm disagreeing with this and fervently so. First off, 3D at its current state is immensely detrimental to the cinematic detail and experience. All it does is make a blur of everything. Secondly, 48 FPS (and anything else absurdly and implausibly north of that) looks horrid - on anything. It's the idiot's "avant garde" and those having anything more than mere videophile "knowledge" will know that it is quite literally the stupidest way to exponentially inflate time and cost of production. Frame rates should be meddled with to help the visual narration of what is happening on-screen but an indiscriminate use of HFR, like Peter Jackson's for the Hobbit series, is pointless; he couldn't even justify his insistence for it with any other words besides "just because". I'm guessing he thought the success of LoTR was completely owed to the extravagance of its visual treatment.

When done properly and right (Avatar, TF3, Gravity, AoE), it can be amazing and completely immerse you in the film. I saw all 4 of those in 3D and they were the best 3D films I've seen yet. 3D should be more than dirt, swords and blood and guts flying in your face. There should be depth to make you feel as if you're there. The first time I felt this was the interior space ship scene in the beginning of Avatar when Jake wakes from his cryotube. That was definitely a "wow" moment to me. Latest film I saw in 3D was Fury Road and it sucked - because George Miller eventually went with the conversion route. I should've stuck with my gut and seen it in 2D.

It would take them years to get it to look good.
IMAX should step in as a 3D conversion powerhouse. Not just in-house conversions.
Teamed with some of the other leading 3D conversion powerhouses, it could look really good.

If they did this, I would go see TFOTR in theaters just to see how it turned out.

Jurassic Park was decent, but could have used more work.
IMO, I think for post-production conversions, those should be watched in real IMAX theaters, since their inhouse conversion also helps a lot.
The theater I went to, was really bad. It's an actual Cineplex theater with lots of revenue. Constantly busy on opening weeks.
The conversion was decent (not great) but I also was sitting in a bad seat at a bad angle.

My friend has an LG 3D SmartTV and it's own 3D conversion is really nice.
I've watched Star Trek Into Darkness IMAX (from the Compendium) in 3D at his place one time and it was really fun.
I dind't see the movie in theaters to compare how it's 3D was for theatrical release.
But the LG conversion was way better than what they did for Jurassic Park.

PJ always had that issue with his Tolkien films.
For the LOTR trilogy, there was either a blue or a green tint over the film.
There are some projects out there that try to make it more natural and flesh tone.

For The Hobbit, I noticed immediately the golden and bright overlay he had for them.
That was more distracting to me than the 48fps.

It's too shiny and "glamorous".
The RED EPIC cameras used for the movies had depleted colors at first; they had to over saturate the sets , costumes, and makeup .
However, the cameras were excellent for filming in 48fps and allowing dual-camera rigs (tight, compact) to film in 3D.
I think the one thing they couldn't really control is the natural light for outdoor scenes.
I notice the sun is the most annoying thing in the first film.
Come films 2 and 3, things got better with experience.

Here's a short youtube about the cameras used and what they had to do for filming.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzidriniP6Y

I also notice with FHR, it's much easier to "see" the "Hollywood magic" (props, etc).
The thing about real hair vs. wigs is fascinating.

Well I'm glad I'm not the first/only one to notice this.

Overall, due to both this "look" and HFR, I lost interest in the trilogy. I've seen all 3, don't really care for them. LotR>Hobbit. An Unexpected Journey is the only one I own, and I won't buy any more of them until Jackson is completely done (which I don't think will ever happen, he's constantly pulling a George Lucas on us) and releases what I'm tentatively calling "The Middle Earth Collection": every film available in every format with all special features. First off, 3D at its current state is immensely detrimental to the cinematic detail and experience.

We went over this before.
If it's filmed for 3D, it's 3D with 3D details.
The Hobbit wasn't covnerted to 3D in post-production.

There is blur for the 24/3D version, as I've mentoined the difference is huge.
The motion blur in the 24 version looks like natural motion blur, as with any 24 film, 3D or not.

Between 24/3D and 48/3D, the HFR really did help translate the 3D process.

When done properly and right (Avatar, TF3, Gravity, AoE

As with before, filmed in 3D has a huge sucess over production houses that post-convert.

Except, Gravity wans't filmed in 3D.
It was 2D filmed with lots of CG, which is easy to covnert to 3D.
Just the non-greenscreen parts needed conversion. And that won't even put a dent in the process as the background/CG parts will take emphasis over the non-3D parts of the film.

which I don't think will ever happen, he's constantly pulling a George Lucas on us

He only has the theatrical and extended editions to do, just like with the LOTR trilogy.
He suffered a heart attack taking over AUJ when Guillermo del Toro dropped out of directing.
He's not adding new details to existing Theatrical scenes.
it's just extended, theatrical scenes intact.

Lucas is an overstretch for a point.

If there are to be any more films about JRR Tolkien's Middle-Earth, I highly doubt PJ will return as director.
He might produce. But nothing extensive.

One thing I will give though, it's not a Lucas thing, but it's a limitation on consumer end:

The only thing to top off sales is for the studios to release the original 48fps movie. (with/without 3D)

Probably as a digital format, if they can work it out.

Because current bluray format doesn't allow 48fps playback.
Maybe some telecining to 60fps (59.94).
But for 3D/48, it would be out of the question. The limitations on bluray spec is too limited.

I'm guessing the reason they don't sell digitally is that DRM would be an issue.
Windows Media Player supports DRM-protection but doesn't offer much else.
iTunes would just decimate the movie quality entirely and they don't offer any such super HD services.
A deal would have to be struck between WB and Apple for something to happen.
And most home consumers wouldn't know what to do or what they're getting into.
The market for it would be incredibly small.

UHD-BD ("UltraHD Blu-Ray") might be feasible for 48/2D.
But not 48/3D (48 left eye, 48 right eye = 96 fps total for one frame).
UHD-BD has a maximum support of 60fps. Not sure if it allows different framerates inbetween (like 48).

The current version on that site, keep it archived and stored away somewhere.
When they start Version 4, it will be going "free" and "pro" versions.
Free will have limitations and the Pro will have loads of options.

The current 3.x version has a lot to offer, but they're saying the 4.x versions will offer a lot more.
Even more complex scripting (since it involves mvtools plugin) and options.

Plus, if you don't like the stable 4.x versions, you can easily downgrade back to 3.x versions.

James Cameron is shooting the Avatar sequels in 60fps...

That would actually make it to bluray easier.
For 2D at least.

They would need to worka miracle to get 60fps/3D to home consumers.

It would mean a new format (again). Or a new dlivery system.
Perhaps 60fps/3D for digital sales, ala Sony box (4K digital downloads, harsh DRM protection and TOS agreement worse than Apple's).
For those with >=120Hz 3D TV's.

maybe a new machine that plays two discs at once?
Disc A: Left eye
Disc B: right eye

More shit to buy and learn how to hook up.

Or maybe the blurays (since they'll be around just as long as the new UHD-BD) will be 60i/3D (30 progressive).
Decimating frames in half is always easiest, that's what they did for the 24 Hobbit.

I'm curious about that one when it comes out.
Especially, the home consumer version.

If you think The Hobbit caused an uproar, wait until this reaches home.

All this talk... I'm going to dig up a trailer to LOTR trilogy and give that a conversion to 48fps with SVP.

Actually... I should just remux the FOTR.
Trailers can alter video to make some scenes in slow motion when wasn't filmed in higher frame rates (at least 96fps; filmed in 96 played back in 24 gives slow motion).
I don't know what shenannigans the trailers did.

I just watched a trailer the other day where I saw the artifacts in it due to frame rate manipulation to get a slow motion scene just for the trailer.

Newer movies, definitely.
Filmed in digital works nicer than filmed in film.
Because of film grain, you're likely to see more artifacts because of the calculations with mvtools.

If you have a decent graphics card, you can do older films nicely.

Make sure in SVP, you have "Interface type" set to "expert".
And "GPU-acceleration (Open-CL)" enabled. It should be enabled by default if you have a decent GPU supported for it.

I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 750ti and a 3.x Ghz processor with 4 solid cores.
4 cores with no Hyper-Threading.
Not 2 cores with Hyper-Threading either.
It helps a lot with more solid cores than virtual cores.

Interstellar:
I converted "going through the wormhole" scene into 60fps and it looks great.
Nolan's work translates very welll.

Inception:
Slow motion scenes will work the best, since they're filmed in higher frame rate and played back in slow rates, so there are way more details in the motion compared to filmed in 24 played back at 24.
The slow motion scenes in Inception are awesome.

Here's a project I did to illustrate: Slow Motion Test
You will need Google Chrome to view in the higher frame rates.

Godzilla (2014), opening titles, nuclear explosion.
0:15 seconds worth.
I used SVP to create profiles (after testing different settings) for conversion to "59" (59.95 (60000/1001) for NTSC).

23fps ("23" for 23.976 (24000/1001)) played back in 23

I'll remux a slow motion scene from Inception and do the same.

Test 1 shows 24fps filmed details.
Slowing it down illustrates everything you see when you play back in 59.
Playing back at 59, you might miss something.
So I made the 599 version to give you enough time to see everything on-screen that you might miss playing back at 59.

If you can follow what I mean.

Test 2 will show slow motion scenes in SVP@59.

---------- Post added at 06:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:24 PM ----------

Gah, I hate watching on youtube.
For some reason "stats for nerds" shows a lot of dropped frames.

Youtube is just not a powerful vehicle for video delivery like it used to.

I'll uplaod the Godzilla samples (if I still have them).

The Interstellar clip I did is still in lossless video format (UtVideo).
It's about 5-6 minutes long, 1080p, 59fps, so it's about 10GB right now.
I'll convert it to AVC/H264 and up that too.

Uploads should be ready tomorrow or the day after.

But you can't save the movie in interpolated fps as a remux.
It needs to be encoded.

avs4x26x (http://tmod.nmm-hd.org/avs4x26x/): to pipe svp_script.avs to x264 (http://komisar.gin.by/).exe to get movie.mkv

Thanks for the help Spark! Naruto looks really nice at 71 fps lol (3x target frame rate)

Check out this page for watching anime: Watching anime - SmoothVideo Project (SVP) - frame doubling interpolation (http://www.svp-team.com/wiki/Watching_anime)

Just a note, if you watch any 10bit anime conversions, it will be dithered down to 8bit.
Avisynth doesn't natively support >8bit.
There are plugins but they are not meant for watching live playback.

I don't know exactly the dither algorithm used.
Maybe truncated, it's fastest.
(not that you will actually notice this truncation; it's not native 10bit video so difference will be marginal)

Even if you use:
MPC-HC
LAV Video (P010 enabled)
FFShow (P010 enabled) <---- this is where 10bit gets converted to 8bit
MadVR (10bit; exclusive; D3D_11; etc),

The process chain will go:
10bit ---> 8bit ---> 10bit (then ----> 8bit again as most home consumers have 7-8bit monitors; actual 10bit monitors are rare and expensive).

Then again, even if you have an actual 10bit monitor, you're not going to see real differences.
Real world applications is not really worth it to the human eye.
It's only good for video/photo editing so you see actual data and not dithered data due to hardware/software limitations.
And, we're talking raw formats, not demuxed bluray elementary streams (as they are encoded from studio masters; which are losslessly encoded from raw elementary streams from the cameras; rarely printed film these days digitally transferred to renders).

I finally finished working on another cover.
Yay, my will-be second contribution to this forum :D.

I almost lost my sanity over this one because
1. the source material was, in my opinion, quite ugly hence unusable for my intents and purposes and, being relatively old, accessible promo material was scarce;
2. the film was so bad the only worthy screencap I could find was of the freeze-frame ending;
3. I'm also really unsatisfied with the title font because I couldn't find anything better than Cinzel (the "llusionist" portion from my The Illusionist cover (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/official-custom-covers-thread-90457/338.html#post3028416) - yes, that was a wholesomely shameless plug).

If anyone has any ideas to improve, I am totally receptive and looking forward to them. I think the final result is, though generic, kinda neat and a slight improvement on the original that had not only way too much stuff going on but... inexplicable shapes decorating I don't know what. I'll be posting it tomorrow morning (GMT, bitchez http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-cool14.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)) and hope Horner fans will appreciate.

If you really want to know, I believe masturbation is an inappropriate use of God's gift of sexual pleasure. I believe we should be patient and wait until marriage to satisfy our God-given sexual desires. Sex was created by God for the union of man and woman, and to take the pleasure of it out of it's proper context is impatient and wrong.

Again, I'm not saying I don't do it. But by God's strength I try not to. But it's difficult, I won't deny that! :p

Using AviSynth to do some interpolation magic and render videos at 60fps. Overall it looks a little too weird, but certain sequences look amazing.

One thing I think would be cool to do is use that method on all the non-Earth scenes in Interstellar after they go through the wormhole - like the Wizard of Oz turning into a color film once Dorothy goes to Oz.

Oz the Great and Powerful has some really fun scenes.
When flying through the storm to get there is really neat.
Plus the continuous shot when they're running away from the evil flying ape, when the camera follows behind them and swoops with them is awesome.

How many frames are the Jurassic Park films recorded at?

24 frames per second (FPS)

but for NTSC (Canada, USA, Japan) home mediums, the video is converted to 23.976.

NTSC Bluray: 23.976
NSTC DVD: 23.976 but with "3:2 pulldown" applied to achieve 29.97.

PAL bluray: 24fps
PAL DVD: converted to 25fps (old movies might scale the audio without fixing pitch so the audio gets ruined)

---------- Post added at 06:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:21 PM ----------

Reasoning: Graduation party coming up.

Might I suggest finding oldschool songs to get the party started.
90's hiphop hits are always a riot.

:erm: or not.
I really loved that bit in Pitch Perfect 2 about the 90's pop songs

---------- Post added at 06:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:22 PM ----------

NTSC TV's (older, "CRT" with bulbs and tubes in the back, the really heavy ones) run at 59.94 (60,000 / 1001).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTSC#Lines_and_refresh_rate

That's mostly SD content back in the 90's and going as far back as the Stone Age.

Today, with all new TV's being HD and digital (you can view older, heavier CRT TV's as analogue), there's no real reason to worry about frame rates.
LCD, Plasma, OLED, Smart TV's, etc etc etc can run 25fps content without problems.

On older TV's, playing 25fps on NTSC TV would cause visual flicker to the point where you can't watch it.

It gets very technical, the further into the past you go.

If you have a TV that's post-2008, you should be fine.
It's just the disc machines themselves you have to worry about.
Importing a bluray from another country, you have to make sure the disc is "Region Free" or your bluray machine is "unlocked".
Or decrypt it with computer and playback from various ways: PC to TV (via HDMI), external HDD/USBthumbdrive, stream, etc.

Atmos

Actual Atmos data cannot be used on PC or anything except an Atmos receiver.
Trying to split actual Atmos into separate WAV files for each channel wouldn't work at all.
It's entirely different format with no conventional setup since you can have 7.1, 11.1, 11.2 and other channel setups.

Decoding Atmos with eac3to or ffmpeg, you get regular 7.1 audio.
Most of the sound effects will be mixed for discreet, dynamic 7.1.
The score will get discreet, dynamic 7.1, too.
But commercial music not made for the film will be horribly upscaled. Just like half the end credits to John Wick.

That's a custom cover. The specifications list 5.1 DTS-HD MA while Atmos is explicity hosted on 7.1 TrueHD.
Also, Nolan explicity works in 5.1 only. He's not into modern technology like 7.1, 3D, or high frame rate.

Speaking of Atmos,

Mad Max is in Atmos/TrueHD 7.1.
Incredibly nice mix.
I don't have Atmos reciever, but ripping the 7.1, it shows up so pretty.
It sounds interesting using different things like Dolby Headphone, Bauer crossfeed, J. Meier crossfeed, and ambiophonic DSP.
I think the Ambiophonic dsp works best to simulate surround sound through headphones.

But what about extracting the separate sound objects? Is that feasible yet?

I should add that it's not a matter of backwards engineering the codec to get the audio.

The 7.1 audio being used for the Atmos extension is very discreet and super nice.
It's true 7.1 audio.

Atmos is more math than an actual audio stream.
It more or less mathematically tells Atmos recievers how to bounce the audio around using the 7.1 stream to get that magical Atmos experience.

The TrueHD streams on Atmos blurays is the same typical size as any other TrueHD stream out there.
So we can induce that there aren't two-in-one streams where one is Atmos and the other is TrueHD.

To shed more light on the subject, the patches that everyone uses to read the TrueHD audio and not the Atmos "audio" works by skipping a few bytes of info in the header.
Maybe a megabyte, but not like 3-5GB or anything.

Another trait I notice with Atmos streams is that when you decode it to another format, you will always see that it has an average bit depth of 20 or 21 in different channels.

So it doesn't store all the sound elements separately (like stems would), it just moves the (very) discreet TrueHD mix around to all those extra speakers. Is that what you mean?

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ
08-14-2015, 04:12 PM
But what about extracting the separate sound objects? Is that feasible yet?

No.
That's part of the "magic" on the reciever end.

To get down to a replicated version of Atmos on PC, you would need to buy out the documentation (specifications, white papers, etc) and even the SDK (Software Development Kits) from Dolby.
And no developer for any program can afford those.

The best anyone can do PC-side is bit-stream to an Atmos-ready receiver.

From the looks of it, no.
Bluray-side, at least.

Bluray spec wouldn't be able to support "True Atmos" technology what theaters have.

On RuTracker, they have a Dolby Atmos demo video from DCP or something (theater file).
The stream was a 11 channel audio stream.
Which could not be played back properly.
That internal channel layout was completely out of whack.

Some channels were even blank. Not LFE or anything, but just total blank and empty.

I ended downmixing (incorrectly due to severe lack of compatible channels) to get a 5.1 mix.
There's enough to make a 7.1 but it wouldn't match any compatible 7.1 layouts. :erm:

Nope.

The major difference is that on the 17-incher the speakers are on either side of the keyboard instead of underneath it. So I'm guessing that's what yours is.

I find mine is ok with video editing software and Audacity (although bigger never hurt anybody). I'll be working on huge iMacs for editing at uni, and I'm really looking forward to that. :D

It was going really good until I got really tired.

The movie is originally 2 stories:
Her
Him

Told from each side of the two.

The director decided to re-cut the two movies into one: "Them".
For the Cannes festival.

I don't think I'll watch Them for a long time.
Him and Her will be good.

I think "Them" would be good for people who don't want/have-time to watch both films.
It's severely condensed since it's 123 minutes while the other two are 100 minutes each.

having an internal debate that maybe you guys can help me with.
during my weekly expedition to flea markets in my never ending quest to become the greatest pokegame master in the multiverse, i stumbled upon a rather odd thing, the film the ten commandments on dvd. me being a person of science, this films existence offends me of course. but what got my attention was that its in a huge ass box (like, bible huge), and inside was.... replicas of the two tablets. nothing else. however, after closer inspection i noticed the tablets could be pulled off, and inside each theres a dvd, the movie is split in two. the first thing i noticed is that it says "for awards screening only" (or something like that) " not for salel". it baffles me that a version that is supposed to be seen by few, has such a fabulous package. now, ive spent the last hour looking for info of this version online and no luck. which tells me two choices: this is an incredibly rare version, its existence is debated. or C) its a worthless copy that nobody wants hence why nobody talks about it.
the asking price is a mere 3 dollars, im tempted to buy it if this is the equivalent of stadium events of versions. but if its a worthless piece of shit (as the movie inherently is) then 3 dollars will still hurt me. i could have bought a shitty game for that (or less)

ROKUSHO

You do know that the movie is a big Hollywood movie and that no matter if it's about religious events it could still entertain you and such? I mean, I'm atheist, but I'd still the movie, it's a big Hollywod epic about a Bible story, not a propaganda. (in my opinion) and yes, get it it's just three dollars. You won't regret it if you sell it on Ebay

ive seen the movie waay too many times when i was a kid. and i finally found some info on this box, its not the heston movie, its a two-part movie from 2006. the promo is called THE TEN COMMANDMENTS Emmy ABC Promo. and found some copies on ebay (on europe) asking for over 120 euros. found just ONE match in ebay US asking for 25 usd.
tried amazon and no results seems this is truly a collectors item, so i guess, despite reading the two parter is boring as hell, ill buy this, and jew some religious zealot into buying it for a 100 usd.

also, right next to it is a factory sealed complete sherlock holmes movie collection. i am DEFINETELY getting that one in a few hours.
the asking price is also 3 dollars, and i just checked its fetching for 110 online. of course i would be braindead retarded if i sold this.
i dont have 3 times my house's value in my room for selling stuff.

Yeah, James, I'm just saying it's a movie like any other, an epic one at that, doesn't mean I agree with your religious views. :P

I could watch any religious movie as long as it's not one that's trying to give you propagada and it's interesting to a point

??

I never implied that you were saying anything else, darling. No need to get so defensive. I was simply agreeing with what you were saying - if it was the original epic it would be worth buying because it's worth something to someone.

me being a person of science, this films existence offends me of course. but what got my attention was that its in a huge ass box (like, bible huge), and inside was.... replicas of the two tablets. nothing else. however, after closer inspection i noticed the tablets could be pulled off, and inside each theres a dvd, the movie is split in two. the asking price is a mere 3 dollars, im tempted to buy it if this is the equivalent of stadium events of versions. but if its a worthless piece of shit (as the movie inherently is) then 3 dollars will still hurt me. i could have bought a shitty game for that (or less)

The fact that it wasn't a DeMille notwithstanding (when you mentioned the two-part split I thought you might have stumbled on an odd copy of the 1923 silent version), saying that the existence of the 1956 The Ten Commandments is "insulting" to you and following that up with a description of the movie, widely considered a masterpiece, as "a worthless piece of shit (as [it] inherently is)" has to be, and I apologize for the upcoming philippic, THE most loathsome form of self-indulgent idiocy I've ever seen written or heard said.

If you really need to bring up the question of propaganda consider that The Ten Commandments is a 1956 film; if you don't know what was going on in the world around that time or can't manage the logical nexus and actually believe it's a near four-hour piece purely for the sake of religious propaganda, I genuinely pity you. Your statements, barely passable as opinion, are insensitive not just toward the many openly religious, if not devout, members on here but to other atheists as well, including myself. Though more (philosophical) pantheistically inclined, honestly, the last person I would wish to be associated with on the matter is your kind- self-proclaimed (obsequious) "men of science" whose great insight and intelligence unravels as soon as you speak with your own words. Whomever's atheist manifesto you abide by, you're doing it wrong.

Umm... rare MTG cards have far greater value than fyc disks. Even Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are resold for a greater value than your average awards-only disk. Film scores is not where real collectors turn to :/

Yes I know. I was into Yu-Gi-Oh! cards like most other kids back in the day, and now I realize how much of a waste they were. I'm sure that I'll find out someday what a waste it is to buy CDs.

I look back realizing how stupid the whole Pokmon card thing was. So dumb. What a waste. At least with music you can listen to it. Get feelings and emotions from it. What do you get from a silly card? Playing a game? Yup. Totally worth it lol.

Also the Things that bring us Joy in Life are never a Waste, i am sure when we both look at our respective collections
(which are both quite substantial ;) ) we wouldn't wanna miss them, i know i do.
Also Money is just Money, we work like Dogs and deserve something nice damnit, lmao ^^

I play a lot of Magic with my 8 year old Nephew, he absolutely loves it, lately he has been destroying me, i have to struggle
like crazy to win a match against him once in a while, that little shit, hahahaha. When he is a little older and he still likes it he will inherit my Collection,
i know i still love to play it despite having started 18 years ago when i was 12...

Besides making for the best games when high or drunk, my (way younger) cousin used to compete in the TCG national and world championships (Masters Series, which I believe to be 1999 or older). The complexity of the strategic game at that level is quite honestly amazing and it's played with unreal intensity; it's no surprise that the more clever kids (such as three-time champion Jason Klaczynski) use these kinds of TCG as a stepping stone to poker tournaments. And as complex as Pokemon is (which it is... a lot), MTG should deserve a sub-branch in mathematics of groups and probabilities all to itself.

I know a lot of people who play Pokmon like it's still their first day. Get overpowered moves and spam them on the opponent. It never works with someone who has developed a strategy, a clever way to secretly take down the opponent.
This is usually the part where I would talk about who my favourites are, why they're good, what strategy or what-not, but considering 90% of you wouldn't be interested, I'll leave that aside. However I will say that Pokmon can be, like emptymetaljacket said, a super complex game. Even I have not mastered it yet, and I have been playing for approximately six years. I wasn't even alive when the first Pokmon came out, but I've played every single game, with the exception of those awful Wii variations.

Just got back from an early morning hike (left around 7am) up the steepest mountain here.
About 1 hour to go up. Constant, extremely steep rocky mountainous terrain the whole way.

I'm mowing tomorrow. It's become a pattern that I have Mondays off lately, and I do the lawn once a week. So tomorrow it is.

My sister came over for breakfast, she's still yet to bring her bf. The family has met him, but we have our church gang over for breakfast every Sunday. And I think she's waiting for a good time to bring him.

I'm heating up the oven for Friday night's leftover pizza.

I usually mow the lawn once a week. But it's more a patch of grass than a lawn. :p

My sister was supposed to be here at about 6:30pm with her boyfriend, but she phoned at 7:20pm to say they were just leaving. It's now 7:55pm and she's just turned up. We know the boyfriend quite well now, and they are dead serious about getting married when she's out of college.

Dinner is some kind of pasta/sausage flan with salad. I think. Whatever it actually is, it looks and smells damn good.
