I'd say decible compression, that's where is at. You don't lose sound quality for losing a bit of data, or do you? I guess it depends of how much is it compressed.

dB compression is "dynamic range compression". where you brickwall the audio to sound the same all the way through.
no peaks, no valleys. just bland.

Like going to an opera where no one can vibrato and instead just hold a note with a severe monotone.

Varese doesn't factor into this at all. They don't touch FYCs to my knowledge, so we can forget about them. The FYC is minimally
mastered. They mostly left it untouched from the original source. Take it from my experience. I only keep lossless in my library. But
would make an exception for the 2CD because the warmth, depth and precision of lossless is preserved. (Up to 20kHz). Same reason I
kept Sully's lossy Frozen sessions.

I have in my HDD the Complete Score with Demos (mp3) with slates, so recording sessions with demos; the 34-track FYC in FLAC, the Night Fury Edition done by someone in this forum (purposedly the best) and the oficial soundtrack.

I have the Sessions and Demos in lossless, and all three FYC CDs. Call me a bit of a collector, I guess.

I agree with you there, I actually have a few Frozen albums too, some even repeated. I have a folder for normal 1 disc, a folder for deluxe, a folder for 3-disc, japanese edition, Let It Go Pack, etc, etc..

mystery pills usually a sign of substance abuse or she's not one to go to a doctor for proper channels of getting medication.

Some women will steal pills from a friend or acquintance who have pills just to get through their own depression or other issues.
Anxiety, stress, etc.
Seems like a controlled way of dealing with things privately. In reality, it will only do more harm than good.

If it's substance abuse, the issues are larger and could lead to more destructive habits.

You should look up local health clinics/care centers.
I don't know what they call them.... There's community centers aimed at specific ages.

Can you even go to a walk-in clinic and ask information about nearby health centers for councilors.
Someone to talk to. They'll probably give you pamphlets and information about how your mother can deal with whatever issue she has.

Mind you, your family will hate you for this.
Most of the family will feel shame if anyone goes to a professional for help. They'll probably see it that it must be dealt with family only (no outsiders).
Some will just be plain ignorant and just hate just because drugs are involved.
Some might even go overboard and suggest intervention and rehab instantly, regardless of what's actually going on.

Having heard extended family members go through some things, and friends having witness similar issues, there's nothing that can be done unless your mother wants to do something (other than pills).
Ain't no one or any thing going to change her mind unless she wants it to influence her.

I'd say be the black sheep and look for outside help since this is affecting you as a human.

Nah, that's very bias. Aonuma wants to make Zelda U a big open world thing like Skyrim but Zelda. Nothing wrong with making a Link and a female link. To let the player choose. What about the female players who would have an awesome female to identify with while playing? I know this isn't gonna happen, because Nintendo's just as conservative and wouldn't be allowed to do such a big thing to the franchise. Oh, by the way, defined character? What the. Link - a green-garbed male destined to save the princess - is an iconic character both in the real world and in his fictional world. He is the Hero, and the player is assuming his form with each game. That makes both the player AND Link himself the hero. True, he doesn't have much of a personality, but that still is a result of having Link remain in the void between character and avatar.

It's not biased, it's tradition. Giving players the option to customize Link's sex removes his status as an established character.

Nope! Not in terms of Link's established persona, at least. I'm all for new ways of playing, new puzzles, new whatever. I'm one of the few people who enjoyed the motion controls in Skyward Sword.

With torrents and poor settings, your IP address is exposed and the pirating traffic you participate in.
That's why torrent users get handed fines for pirating The Expendables and other movies so easily.

With direct download links, only the hosting server gets slapped.
It requires more work to get the uploaders on trial.

I grabbed my HTTYD2 and Pan CD's and opened them up, and took the back cover (or inlay) of both and took a look at those. Sometime this weekend I'll scan both CD's for my own personal collection and satisfaction, probably also to add them up to the internet. I don't really know why, but I love seeing the Sony Classical logo and bar to the sides. I dunno why but I've grown to like this label a lot, for soundtracks, they have lots of good releases of movies I like. And they've released Pan in pressed form in europe, and HTTYD2 in europe in a CD case..

God forbid, I've just been struck with a great idea, who's good at developing Apps for the so-called Smart-phones (aptly named since I've witnessed those tools reduce fellow humans to masses which can't tear their gazes away from them)? How about we get an App out there which keeps "us" updated in regards to every attack made against every ethnicity/entity/state/etcetera in the whole world? 0.99€ and you get your profile picture on the previously-mentioned social networks changed so that it has the flag of the place attacked, but it wouldn't stop there, the App would also send automated status-updates that you might customize thanks to pre-installed (and thoroughly researched) profile-setups: appear as a Lefty, a Righty (not sure you use this term to define that group of people in English), a christian democrat, a pacifist…

Really, though, maybe if they'd see just how often all that crap would change, they would stop for some needed reflection. Geez, why do I still overestimate them?

I know exactly how that feels. I have done a a very large amount of editing today for my Lego Pirates of the Caribbean gamerip. A lot of the songs cut out at the end because they loop in the game so I have match up
the full versions with files from the rip, like exactly, 100% in Audactiy. Sometimes I also have to rummage through untitled files of the At Worlds End gamerip. I have to zoom in Audactiy a whole lot and yada yada yada... fade out or loop then fade out and yada yada yada I'm fucking done for the day.

Maintaining 7 externals just kills me outright.

I wish I had seen Walking with the Dinosaurs in 3D at the cinema. I know the movie's crappy because of the very stupid kindergarten dialogues and all, but the CGI and landscapes are amazing and so is the 3D and I've been wanting an awesome 3D experience. I seriously was so close to this, Life of Pi, both amazing 3D experiences and I didn't fucking watch any.

Thanks for the advice. I've always had a good feeling with LG 3D TV, too, as in, I think they look good, but honestly I don't think I'm gonna get one in years. Our TV is a 2008 Phillips Ambilight and it is still up and rocking, so no 3D TV for me. :/

Good grief, it's been so long since I was here. At least it sure as heck feels like it. Boy, is life busy right now.

Apart from all my course work and musical endeavours here at uni taking up all my time, I've been rehearsing for a show I'm in the orchestra for that's performing this week. Dress rehearsal was yesterday, opening night was tonight. Didn't go too badly, but it's incredibly tiring, particularly as the music isn't exactly easy to play. Sondheim is dreadful. I never thought I'd get to know Sweeney Todd so well. It's gone 1AM and I've just finished AoSE19 - cannot wait to see how this season ends. But time for bed. Thankfully no lectures tomorrow. But that doesn't mean no work. And after two late nights in a row, I've got another three to look forward to! Hurrah.

This morning I got to perform the Tallis quartet in the chapel again. Very nice indeed. Persuaded the powers that be to let us perform it at the vocal showcase next week. Happy about that. Also had a chance to rehearse with another violinist before we perform in a string quartet at the instrumental showcase in two weeks' time. Can't wait for that either.

Also, I'm now in the process of house-hunting for my second year. Fuuuuun... ish.

Never seen the play so I have nothing to compare it to, but Tim Burton's 2007 film adaptation was awesome and one of very few musicals I can enjoy (the others being Across the Universe and Rocky Horror).

We do what we gotta do. Try it.

I'm worried about DreamWorks Animation, I mean, their next movies all seem to be shitty, except the sequels of franchises with potential.

But still. HTTYD2 was no masterpiece but it was A DARN GOOD MOVIE. Rise of the Guardians was also pretty good. :3

I have no idea why but I REALLY prefer DolbyTrueHD to DTS-HD MA, I don't know why, I really don't, but I do. I have no home cinema so I can't listen to the true lossless experience but I still really love that codec for reasons unknown. So, I like the Atmos on BD, it's not true Atmos, but it uses DolbyTrueHD :p

I thought it was going to be impossible to do a CoR film mix without the stems, the way it was going,
but I FINALLY found a source in the sessions for what I needed.

At the very end of the first cue, there is a swell of choral/brass/high strings in the film version with a crash cymbal at the end. it is completely different than on the sessions.
This difference, this little tiny, 15 second edit, was taken from the VERY LAST CUE.
Lol, go figure.

But there is literally microedits in every single cue in the film version, exactly like this, and smaller.
I'll have to catalogue every single session cue to be able to have samples and know where to get
things before i can even start this. God damnit.
