120fps

Trailers are available in 60fps, but those aren't real 60fps from the 120fps master.
They're most likely decimated to 24fps (like all non-theater content for The Hobbit) and then converted to 60 interlace (30 progressive) for oddball HDTV broadcasting or some poor website.

A very promising gimmick.
But very unlikely to get a half decent release for home media.

Best case scenario is probably UHD-BD in 60fps 2D.
Or 30fps in 3D.

But 23.976fps is most likely and most compatible format.

He's already beat Cameron on his promise for the Avatar movies in being in 60fps/3D (60 per eye, 120 total).

Ang Lee's production is supposedly 120fps PER EYE (left/right) so about 240fps total.
Unless all the promo is not being clear enough.

I got the press package downloaded but it's like an essay and not distinctly clear on specifications.
More like just upselling to promote the material.

Definitely within the realm of the uncanny valley.

Although, I largely suspect more of a headache after an hour than anything.

3D alone is enough to make people tired or irritated.
48 in 3D is even moreso displacing.

120 in 3D should be push the human limits and guage the future for directors.
Depending on the results of this run, Cameron would better plan his million Avatar movies.

- The new Pentatonix Christmas album for my sis

- Star Trek Beyond 4K Blu-Ray for my dad

- LEGO Disney Minifigures for my nephew (he doesnt really like building full sets, but for some reason loves the minifigures...)

And I bought some things for myself like...

- Elf Blu-Ray Steelbook

I imagine having controlled volume would be ideal, though that may result in unsatisfactory sound. I prefer earbuds, since I can never convince myself to have headphones on all the time, as much as they can sound better. The only real issue is how disposable they can sometimes. You have to be getting multiple pairs at points. Headphones can last much longer, seeing as the pair of Sonys I've had since 2013 still works.

What do I want next? This (https://www.amazon.com/SoundMAGIC-Noise-Isolating-Ear-Earphones/dp/B005HP3O9C/):

Pre-ordered the DLC to Age of Empires II HD: Rise of the Rajas.
I really enjoyed the DLC expansions AoEII and Age of Mythology.
Definitely worth the full $10.99 (CDN).

Bought Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

It is an awesome game.
Super cheap on Steam.

And it does have the classic transformeration sound effect. It might be modified slightly.

But, it's insanely fun.
It's just the right amount of dooming destruction a game needs.

I should tentatively check out the other Transformers games, too.

Just remembered that the lossless codec, MagicYUV, has gone pro now.
There's a sale going on for the "Ultimate" edition.
I had just enough left over to buy it.

What's really nice about the Ultimate is that it supports more colorspaces over the standard and free editions.
YV12, YV16, YV24. 10bit.

That's nearly all the software I use to great length.

I just have to buy Malwarebytes' AntiMalware now.

Also not the biggest Fan of Nobuo Uematsu, which is considered as Blasphemy in VGM Circles.

Only 2 Scores of his i really like are Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger.

Which i recommend aswell, probably even over FF 6, that Game is a Masterpiece.

Better Music, plus Akira Toriyama. Never played those very much either, i wasn't really into RPGs at that Time,
i was like 8 years old when those Games came out on the SNES, we were more into Street Fighter, Turtles in Time,
Mortal Kombat, F-Zero, Battletoads & Double Dragon, Zombies ate my Neighbours, Castlevania, Batman Returns,
Clayfighter, Micro Machines, Ghouls and Ghosts, NBA Jam, Themepark and all those other good Gems.

That was it!

Yes, it's on an external somewhere.

Which is a good one to start off on?

7, 8 and 9 are all different from each other.
7 is the easiest to play. It's quite the breeze to skip through the storylines.

I've found 8 to be extremely fun. The SEED military faction is quite interesting as a concept. That was the one they introduced a new tutorial system. And it had the Triple Triad card game. It started a new direction for the franchise.

9 was also immensely fun. It has its own card game: Tetra Master.
Which a German company actually made a collectable item you actually play.
I bought two copies off eBay. One to collect and one to play.

---------- Post added at 01:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:46 PM ----------

I would say start at 9.
Everything's ironed out from the transition of 8.

7 has quite the slow pace. There's quite a few opportunities to grind the levels whenever you can before going into the next area. I used to grind a lot.

I've got 2 SSD's right now and that's just barely enough room to play with.

For downloading and remuxing, I'd like an HDD since it has more space.

For the OS and gaming, I'll use the bigger SSD I have of the two.

Ideally, I can actually live with 2 SSD's at 512GB each.

The actual remixes used for the movie would be better.

The score to 2 is just okay. But little replay value.

The pipe organ segment at the end of the movie is the best part of the remixed score.

Yeah, if level 2 of a video game is 'rage-inducing' it probably isn't going to win any awards.
Are there video game razzies?

PonyoBellanote
12-30-2016, 04:49 PM
There's not such a thing here in Spain as high school prom night, maybe something similar but in a less scale, I dunno, it depends of the school, but if there had been I definitely wouldn't have gone either.

As for the game, it might have been my noob skills, but I've heard this game is Megaman levels of hard, maybe a bit unfair, I dunno. Definitely this game was a massive dissapointment with all the money it got. As some other Japanese developer once said, "Inafune is a business man, not a game developer." I am aware of this game's shit, but since it was cheap, not my money (more like a gift, I supose) and it fits right into my collection among all my other games, I don't think the purchase was that bay. Definitely 6 euros is what the game's worth. Or even less.

TheSkeletonMan939
12-30-2016, 04:54 PM
I've never understood the idea of having a "Steam collection" myself... I enjoy physical items more (which I think is a sentiment Ponyo would agree with). Plus I think Steam is a huge annoyance in general... constant updates, always having to be online to play games, etc.

PonyoBellanote
12-30-2016, 05:00 PM
Oh yeah, I love physical more than digital, although I really have ZERO space for anything physical anymore, but over Steam, I dunno why, it's not a matter to me anymore, since most physical PC games tend to have a disc with a code to install to Steam or whatever. And I dunno, it just looks fine on it, the digital collection. Steam doesn't consantly update to me but maybe that's because I don't open it much. I don't think Steam is that bad to me. And honestly I'm not the type to have, like, a HUGE Steam Collection with games he doesn't like, that he got because they were cheap, or to try to get the more the better, no. All my collection is, and will consist, of games I like. The trouble with me and physical comes mostly with my Wii U, where Splatoon and MK8, which came with the Wii U digitally, are taking a lot of my much needed space.

TheSkeletonMan939
12-30-2016, 05:07 PM
That's part of why I don't understand the push for digital... and hell, another reason why Nintendo boggles my mind. Games these days are HD and have hi-res textures... so why does the Wii U have only a couple dozen gigs of data to spare?

Well, DC on TV has certainly been fun. Both Arrow and The Flash have recovered nicely from last season's below par efforts, Supergirl hasn't had a weak episode so far in S2 and although Legends is, IMO, the weakest of the lot, it's still entertaining although it does come at times perilously close to A-Team antics and not in a good way.

Wise. Dinner and a movie. Might see Passengers regardless of the reviews. I'm curious to see a black listed script get made and if it deserved to be on the list.

Forgot about that one. I've been catching up during the hiatus and although I really, really dislike what they did to Ivy, the Mad Hatter has proven to be much more formidable than I expected. And now with Jerome returning as the Joker, perhaps, the second half of the season looks promising. And there's always Penguin - when the writers don't have commit acts of stupidity.

Fish, however, is as irritating and superfluous as ever.

I'm easily amused, but not even my standards are that low. I'm not expecting much. I'm focused on how the story is constructed and how it does or doesn't work.

I went to see Sing today. Let me tell you something that will sum up this movie for you. It's family entertainment. Pretty much. It's a simple story. It only looks to entertain kids and acompanying parents. And it suceeds, without making parents cry in agony. With the exception of a fart joke (and I like fart jokes, but this one felt a bit facepalming, because fart jokes tend to be the lowest of the low that you can do in comedy and the easiest thing..) and the twerking joke in the auditions that feature so much in the trailer.

It's nice, I personally liked it. Although I could personally see small flaws in it, but I liked the characters, the music, the animation. If you ever watch this movie when you are bored and you're in Netflix, don't ask or expect too much from it. It's really not a hugely complicated plot. It's really simple.. but like a lots of animation. But it can be enjoyable, really. I think with a few exceptions that I overlook, it may be the most "okay" or bearable movie of Illumination. The plot, the moral is not new, but still. It's kinda enticing if you're looking for fun, music. It's simple, alright, and I liked it. Because, sometimes (sometimes) I like simple, and thankfully, to me, it wasn't facepalming. I liked Ash! (the hedgehog) And yes.. once more, the movie is better than it looks in marketing. Universal really sucks at marketing doesn't it? Though I'm not sure if it's too different..

I purchased Battlefield 1 on Origin for $35.99.

One of the greatest war games I've ever played. Authentic and realistic as all hell - which is what war is - and that which the game depicts so damn well.

Most games don't really make you realize how war takes the lives of individuals one by one from a barrage of relentless incoming enemy fire...right away the game begins you on the 'front lines', stating "you are not expected to survive". You're instantly met with live fire, it's alarming; adequately showcasing the intimidation and terrorizing nature of a war, and makes you really feel like you're in one... which is a what a game like this is supposed to do anyway.

I'm both surprised and pleased at how well DICE succeeded in developing one the greatest FPSs I've ever played - one concerning World War I at that, which is something kind of 'unexpected' in the array of games the current industry usually offers. Hell, I never ever expected it and started 'hyperventilating' when I caught word of how the Battlefield series was going to bring forth its next entry as a World War I FPS. I freaked out and anticipated this game for a while - even more so after what little of the beta I played, and expectations were lifted even higher than before just a little while ago after getting into the first level.

Seriously, this game is so fucking good! :p Well worth the purchase.

God. I have absolutely no desire to see that film. Maybe it's just cause I'm a guy, but I cannot STAND romance films. I do like romance in films and games or books or whatever, but that piece of media shouldn't have romance as the ONLY thing that matters. That's what the trailer for La La Land said to me, anyway. Haven't actually seen it.

Generally, yes. Though I find at times if handled correctly, romance can (not always, rarely is a better word) add depth to a character. But like I said, if it's the sole focus, it generally sucks.

I only saw it because of all the hype and attention it's getting. It was like a repeat of Birdman 2 years ago: Emma Stone was in it, it was getting rave reviews, Oscar buzz and ended up being shit. The only thing about the film I admired was that the camera never once cut during the number sequences. The opening was fun because of that.

Honestly, I can never be sure what the hell to to get out of movies anymore. As much as I've enjoyed the previous few films that I gotten to see in theaters, I'll admit they don't really stick with me as much as they used to.....and I can't really figure out why. Maybe they're far more keen on being good at the moment when watching them? I don't really know. I guess I've really gotten more of a kick out of music, books and specific television (i.e. Steven Universe only). I want to like films again, but I could never be sure what I found appealing besides colorful images.

For the love of God, do not see Birdman. Or see it, and know that Michael Keaton is the one entertaining thing about the film. He deserved the Oscar. But instead they gave it to Eddie Redmayne, who's career is only just beginning. But maybe Keaton will get it this year for The Founder :)

I want to like films again

Get a time machine and go back to the classics.

Even indies are starting to lose their charm these days and are no longer a guarantee.

Between remakes, sequels, spinoffs, mashups and whatever else is used to fill up seats, you're better looking for indies from different countries.
Hidden gems from the UK or Australia.

Although, I have no idea what's modern. I only check out movies like that years after they've been out.

Lesser known films of Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy have had more substance than flashy chrome.

If you want to put a proper gauge on films, dive into the filth of "parodies" and "spoofs".
Watch all those movies by those two guys who keep making them: Jason Friedberg (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0294997) & Aaron Seltzer
Once you hit rock bottom, the only direction to look is up. :smrt:

:erm: And Uwe Boll (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051)...
You watch and judge which of the two is the lesser evil....

The dynamic range has been compressed so all the sound is relatively the same.
Perfect for listening late at night if others (if there are others) sleeping.
You don't have to jump to change the volume constantly (like commercials on TV).

I think all movies should include a compressed track.
It'd be better suited for simple stereo playback environments (desktop speakers, tv speakers, etc).
