I feel like they'd work better if I had a slightly wider/broader face, but they work. The polarization level is fucking nuts. I don't think the lense is iridium, but they're definitely polarized. Put them on and all glare is 100% gone. It's as if someone turned the sun off lol

I'm surprised they didn't spell it "Sully" like people here do.

I used to spell it with an e in it, but after staring at it for a while I made the move to "Sully". After all, there is no e in Sullivan. I guess we'll just have to hear from the monster himself to see what it really is.

One of my coworkers was trying to avoid all the trailers for TFA leading up to it's release. Last he and I spoke about it was July. I worked with him on Friday and I said "so Nick, are you still boycotting/avoiding all the Star Wars trailers?" and he goes "I caved, I watched them all Monday night when the final trailer was released during the game".

So I'll check in with you in a few months' time and ask what's going on ;)

TFA trailers have been brilliant so far. All film students everywhere need to be tied to a chair and forced to watch them all ten times in a row to brainwash them into learning how trailers should be made. They give you a perfect flavour for the film without directly giving away any plot points. People still don't know any of the specifics of the story (apart from the idiots who've read the leaked script or whatever happened a few weeks ago).

But no, if there's a movie I really want to see these days, I refuse to watch the full-length trailers. Teasers are usually fine. But full trailers are so full of spoilers that I simply refuse to watch them anymore. Like Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur. I've only seen the teaser trailers so far.

And that's how it's gonna stay. You can check back if you like, but the situation will remain unchanged. :)

Trailer 3 for Interstellar is one of my most recent favorite trailers. The piece used "View from the Voyager" by Continental Music is spectacular. And you get the basic idea of what the film is about, nothing is spoiled. A terrific trailer.

However, the final trailer for TFA will be hard to beat.

Didn't one of the trailers for Interstellar give away what happens on Miller's planet? The whole "Those aren't mountains - they're waves!" and *let's also reveal the huge wave right behind them* *let's also reveal that Brand gets trapped* *let's also reveal that the wave hits the ship* etc etc
Luckily, I didn't see that trailer before I saw the film so it was a complete and utter jaw-dropper when that scene played out. Just how I like it.

Must've been trailer 4, and probably a lot of TV spots. Going into the film, I had no idea what it was about other than a wormhole and trying to save earth. Which isn't saying much.

Sulley is that you with a former gf in that frame?!?!

Sorry, but you did ask...

Nope, unfortunately not. That's a photograph from a stage production of The Sound of Music I was in two years ago. She was cute, but technically under age, even though I still had to kiss her as part of the scene. But it gets even weirder. Legally, there had to be two teams of children for the show, because we were doing six performances (so three for each team). And it just so happened that the two girls playing the part of Liesl in each team were sisters. And the older sister was seriously good-looking. And I mean seriously good-looking. So as you can imagine, I didn't have to act very much when I performed with her - it came naturally. But unfortunately the official photographer was only at one of the performances with the other team, so I don't have a photo with her.

It gets weirder still. If you're familiar with the story, Rolf and Liesl sing the well-known song "Sixteen Going on Seventeen", because the character of Liesl is supposed to be sixteen going on seventeen, and the character of Rolf is supposed to be seventeen going on eighteen. Now it just so happened that this girl (the older of the two sisters) was exactly the right age for her part, as was I for mine - we were both turning seventeen and eighteen respectively just before the show, so for 90% of rehearsals we really were the ages we were singing about.

But the weirdness doesn't stop there. We also just happened to share the exact same birthday. I almost had a heart attack when it was discovered. So on the same day, we both turned seventeen and eighteen respectively and both received birthday cards signed by the rest of the cast. :D

Everywhere I look around
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound

And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes

Love is in the air
In the whisper of the trees
Love is in the air
In the thunder of the sea

And I don't know if I'm just dreaming
Don't know if I feel sane
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when you call out my name

(Chorus)
Love is in the air
Love is in the air
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Love is in the air
In the rising of the sun
Love is in the air
When the day is nearly done

And I don't know if you're an illusion
Don't know if I see it true
But you're something that I must believe in
And you're there when I reach out for you

Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound
And I don't know if I'm being foolish

How I'd love to! I want to get to know her better before I propose though. :p We'll see how things progress over the next couple years... as for the kissing, well, the whole point of the scene was that it was a surprise. Her character is not supposed to be expecting it, so it's a "surprise" kiss. It had to be very quick, and then Rolf is supposed to run off stage before she can say anything. I tried to be calm, but it was nothing more than a peck on the lips I'm afraid.

You romantic robot, you.

Ohhhh yeah. This has been years in the making. Los Angeles is where Hollywood is. Where dem movies are made! It's just a matter of saving up enough money, though. Fortunately my friend I've known since 5th grade is out there and he's willing to help me with a place to stay and find a job. He's worked on Awkward, HGTV and right now is currently (I think) a writer on The Mindy Project. If he's not writing, he's doing something. He's definitely involved. I see things on Instagram all the time.

I stayed with him 2 years ago. That was when I saw M83 at The Hollywood Bowl. Also just to see what LA is like and to know if it's really where I want to be the rest of my life. It was awesome, and everything I thought it would be. Even though I wanna live out there, I'll always be a New Yorker. No matter where I end up. I <3 NY :)

Not really having anything to do with a recent purchase, but we somehow ended up on this topic. As promised:
top left corner of my bedroom door - 1984 Optimus Prime

top right corner of my bedroom door - 2007 Optimus Prime

this guy above my main closet (I have 2 - one for clothes, the other is where my vinyls are stored):

Thig guy above my Captain Morgan mirror:

Actual Captain Morgan Mirror. Thought I'd kill 2 birds with one stone and get my Fury Road poster in the reflection (and if you look hard enough, 2007 Prime on top of my door ;))

This guy above my left front window:

And why not just show my Fury Road poster again with my Blu-ray shelves? Look hard enough and you can see Bumblebee (and Optimus and Grimlock and even the T-800:p):

And then here he is in full:

There's always my posters/other wall art if you're interested ;)

I have the those versions. Target exclusive. They're nice. Only I held off on MJ because 1.), it was "good, not great" as I always like to say and 2.), I'm just gonna wait until the entire collection is released in a nice box set. CF is my favorite of the first two. I like the clear plastic slipcover and the interior design.

Catching Fire is my favorite film so far, it's tied with Mockingjay Pt. 1 for best score imo.

---------- Post added at 10:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:14 AM ----------

I bought Mockingjay Pt. 1 because I want my Mom to see it so that we can go see Pt. 2 together, she still hasn't seen it, yet she did see Scorch Trials without seeing the first Maze Runner film..haha

I saw THG with one of my close high school friends back when it opened in March of 2012. Then mom and I saw CF with her best friend and her husband. Then the 4 of us saw MJ together and then just last week I bought our tickets for pt. II. So the first one is the only one we didn't all see together. I'm so excited.

CF is both my favorite film and score thus far. I've been told that pt. I was lacking because everything was saved for pt. II and that it's going out with a bang. When my sister asked me where it cutoff, she said there was still a lot to come.

I Love That Cover!

Me too! It was purposely designed by the original artist of all the books, Tim Jacobs. And it was approved by R.L. Stine himself.

It's pressed on "Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes Green Marble (Disc 1)" and "The Werewolf of Fever Swamp Blue Marble (Disc 2)". The other variant is already sold out: "Slappy's Revenge White and Gray with Red Splatter (Disc 1)" and "The Blob That Ate Everyone Pink with Red Splatter (Disc 2)". But I don't care. I'm happy. I just hope I like the score, as I haven't listened to it yet. Blind buy. Fingers crossed.

What bothers me is companies trying to remove Christmas altogether by using the terms "this holiday" or "happy holidays".

Companies want to make you forget what it is you're celebrating, only that you need to buy, buy, buy. Not referring to it by name is a good way of doing that.

DAKoftheOTA
11-10-2015, 05:36 PM
They're trying to remove Christ from it. That's why it's now "holidays". You'll hear companies give a bs excuse saying that "the term 'happy holidays' includes everyone". I have many Jewish friends/know a lot of Jewish people and they don't care about not being included in Christmas. And don't even get me started on Kwanza which is a made-up holiday.

PonyoBellanote
11-10-2015, 05:43 PM
The only tiny problem I see in "removing Jesus from Christmas" is that literally it'd only show the "buy it all" meaning of Christmas. I honestly am not religious myself and while I don't really mind those who are I really would get annoyed if there were more about Jesus in Christmas than anything else.

I don't think it was a remaster.
There's a re-release with more special features.

if movie: try to locate an HD-DVD version.
And then see if your BDR thingy can play it.

The HD-DVD retains grain better.
The bluray got DNR'ed to a point.

Hopefully, Dragonheart will get a nice 4K remaster.

I'm talking about the soundtrack. :P It's 16 euros to get it from Amazon Spain, the rest are cheap, but come from US and take weeks to come by.
As for the Blu-ray thingie. Dragonheart; I LOVE THAT MOVIE, really, I do. And I'm hoping also a 4k remaster for the 20th anniversary.
Dragonheart is loved by many and Universal loves this movie too so.. hoping for a new BD next year. Though the current BD wasn't terrible but a new BD wouldnt' do bad.
Also , Toronto has had a screening since 2013, of the movie Dragonheart, suposedly a 20th anniversary screening with new scenes and enhanced effects, and remastered.
Hope this is true and it's what we get in the new Blu-ray.. *shrugs* I just hope Dragonheart gets something for the 20th anniversary, love that movie.

Never understood the fascination with that film. Saw it, found it OK, but not collection worthy.

Yes and no. Yes in that it's lossless. No in that it's the deluxe edition, previously an iTunes exclusive. The deluxe has never been available in lossless before.

When you get right down to it, all holidays are made up. People decided to mark a particular time of year. For instance, Christmas originally was Saturnalia and that got started by a bunch of bored Vikings. You know how it is, middle of winter, nothing good on TV, snowed it, Internet is down, can't even get pizza delivered. So they decided: hey, let's spend three days getting drunk off our asses, telling rude jokes and fighting and call it holiday to square it with the boss.

A few hundred years later Rome got smart and put Christ's birthday, which is in August, in December to hijack a popular pagan holiday. Same goes for Easter. It's a fertility celebration. How else do you get bunnies and eggs? (Unless you're a Republican, then you think Christ rode a dinosaur into Jerusalem, the pyramids were build by Joseph to store grain and that storks deliver babies.)

I agree political correctness that turns Halloween into "The Harvest Celebration" is insane. No lie, we officially called Halloween that in the military. When I openly questioned the logic, I was told some people though Halloween "satanic." WTF? That and other inanities drove me nuts. (I'm a full blown agnostic, strongly believe in the separation of Church and State, but honestly, Easter is the "Spring Festival?" Give me a break.)
