And I'm already about 1/3 of the way in FFXIII (yeah, it could be better), and God of War III Ultimate Edition is my #1 choice this year so far which is why I have it reserved. But I really love BioShock, but I'm also aching for a great RPG and it's been a while since I played something new.

Dora wasn't too bad, except for the fact that I can't skip the instructions, which as you guess, repeats like a goddamn borked record player everytime you encounter an activity. It doesn't matter if you've encountered the same activity just two minutes ago. I found that pushing Exit then selecting No helps sometimes. Apart from that, I keep finding myself mumbling "way to go, captain obvious" and "do I look like a goldfish to you?" every other minute.

I played the demo of Mirror's Edge and liked it a lot, so I got it when I pre-ordered FFXIII (the mini guide came with the pre-order)

The game is pretty short if you don't do the time trials. its super fun though.

I bought Mirror's Edge on Steam when it was on sale a while ago and couldn't get into it. I figure it's because I'm used to running around like a retard as scout in TF2, so when I played as the clunky chick in ME I was turned off.

I can't picture playing Mirror's Edge on a keyboard, might be worth trying out on a console/gamepad (assuming you didn't play it on one).

If it's first person I think I'd rather play it with a keyboard and mouse. It's not like pressing W to run is any harder than pushing an analogue stick up. I have a wired 360 controller I could try it with though.

Don't like any of the marvel based ones because they're way too frantic. Don't like the SNK ones because I hate the treatment of the SNK characters. This one's got just the right balance, though, and I know very little about Tatsunoko anyway so that can't matter.

EDIT: I just remembered, the only other one I like is SNK's NeoGeo Pocket one, SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millenium. That is like, the best fighting game ever.

Vinyl is the best way to experience The Beatles...especially Sgt. Pepper's.....Pink Floyd too. I don't have Gorillaz on vinyl, but i'll bet it's pretty decent too.

I know it's heard a million times by 'hipsters', but vinyl still does have the superior sound.

I have a copy of Tom Petty's Southern Accents on vinyl. It's on my wall, as art, since no record player.

I have a record player and I regularly buy new music on vinyl. In fact that is really the only way I'm willing to buy it usually except in some cases where I'll buy a download.

Thing about playing records is it's an engaging activity, whereas modern forms of listening to music are far too passive. When you listen to a CD you're usually just hearing it while you do something else. when you listen to records, the activity you're doing is listening to records.

The activity of gently placing the record on the turntable and placing the needle on it and getting up to flip it over is pleasantly ritualistic as well. I find it very enjoyable. Plus records are much more interesting to collect than CDs and they are usually made out of a love of music and the vinyl format, since they are not economically sound. Records help preserve the mentality that an album should be a cohesive, consistent work of art rather than just a collection of songs to be skipped around.

In short, vinyl is awesome, everyone should have a record player, and CDs suck.

the concept of vinyl is wonderful.

I still make CD Mixes in the style of a vinyl record transferred to disc....meaning I time it so it appears there was a Side A and a Side B........

So while I still like CDs, gone are the days of producing albums as if they have 2 sides.........I used to love that......

.....most genres I enjoy are still readily available on vinyl, with the exception of film scores....there just isn't a big enough market for them.

so yeah....everyone should have a record player......some bands still have special surprises on vinyl only.

You sit in front of a record player for the entirety of a record, without doing anything else at all?

Yes. Is this bad?

I mean often I'll be lying down with my eyes closed rather than sitting, or sometimes I'll sip a beer or something while I do this. But I think really listening to music (with the volume way way up, this is important) with all your focus on it is fantastic.

Besides, that's what you do when you go see a band live. Well I guess it used to be. Now kids probably text while they are seeing live bands.

Listening solely to music is pretty dull, imo. At the very least I browse the internet/chat in IRC while listening through an album. Most often I'll mute a game and listen to an album instead. I don't think I really find music interesting enough to sit in front of a stereo, doing nothing else.

I also never go see live bands. Well, I've been to a few (last one I went to was some ABBA tribute band with Rasse), but I don't think I've ever found the experience to be above listening to the same songs on CD at home.

Music is background noise to bolster whatever else I'm doing.
