I really liked Secret of Kells. Just has this beautiful, storybook look, and as an animation nerd, it's a joy to see something handdrawn that clearly has so much work put into it. Aisling is the greatest. <3

On midnight of early Tuesday, I bought Portal 2. That is one of the best games I have ever played.

I think it is too. Not only did it have more objects and obstacles, it had far more levels and actually lasts me about 2 and a half hours more when speed running it. I remember Speed running the original Portal after playing it a few times, now it literally takes me about 40-45 minutes. For Portal 2, it's more like 2 - 3 hours however, I'm not sure yet because I have to finish going through my second time.

Wheatley suddenly changing from a slightly incompetent robot who is perhaps limited by his being a sphere into a big ol' moron (after GLaDOS calls him one) kind of sucked.

Thinking back on the Cave Johnson levels, I realise I didn't dig the aesthetic so much. I really liked the level of detail the levels had, but I was kind of glad when I left those old testing chambers. Cave Johnson himself is the best character in the game though.

The final boss was way too easy.

SPAAAAAAAAACE pretty much ruined the game's run of good jokes. I thought throwing in a lame LOLRANDOM thing like that was a bad move, but maybe most people aren't as annoyed by those kind jokes as I am. It sucks that what I consider the worst joke in the game is probably going to be the most referenced one though. It'll be The Cake is a Lie all over again.


That's about it really. It's a fun game, which is the most important thing. The writing is pretty great and the easter eggs are the best I've seen since the Metal Gear Solid games. A few major plot points got spoiled for me though, so I'm probably not as excited about it as I could be.

well, you could see how bad wheatley was in the beginning when he kept crashing into things when moving your sleep chamber, and being in charge of the whole facility made his idiocy more apparent since he was in charge of more important and sensitive/dangerous stuff, but i do see what you mean. they could have made more of an effort before he got into glados's body.

i like the cave johnson levels because you could see the beginning threads of what would become the modern facility, and you learned the backstory of everything, but yeah, it got to be a bit much. by the end i was like, can i just get back to the story please? i also knew glados was caroline as soon as she was mentioned. i really enjoyed seeing cave deteriorate to a crazy guy who tested just for the sake of testing.

i liked the space personality core in the end cutscene but i will probably get annoyed by everyone online going SPACE! best jokes/lines imo were when glados first wakes up and she's super pissed off. for example, she says something like, "i figure we have 60 or so years left together. after you're gone i think i'll take up a hobby, like reanimating the dead." i loved the hidden rage and malice behind her statements.

I'm not a stranger to MetaCritic, and I go there often. However, in this case, I decided to go fresh without skewing my opinions of a said game with reviews from critics. I missed being able to do that. Though, it makes me glad I didn't get SteelDiver or Pilot Wings 3D, course they didn't interest me anyways.

I beat Asphalt 3D anyways. It wasn't bad. Has some flaws, but the core racing experience was fun, and that's what really counts. Now the thing is, I went back to play the second one on DS, and I was disappointed because they recycled the content from the first game with little improvement over the original. But hey, I got a triple NOS boost and more cops, yay!

Good thing I didn't buy that one.

I don't really like Season 1 of Curb. I just finished watching Season 2 again which was pretty good. Season 5 is probably my favourite though.

Hmm I suppose I prolly should have rented it first, because I haven't seen any Curb. I was just goin' on how funny Larry David seems to be. I loved Seinfeld, and when I found out that the episode where George quit his job and acted like nothing happened was based on him, I figured a farfetched comedy off of him would suit my tastes.

Hmm, I guess I shouldn't be picky, but I guess I would want to see things from episode 1. Prolly another reason why I haven't seen Always Sunny in Philly.

Man I really didn't like either game much. I played Bioshock 2 a few months ago and it really felt like they were just trying to cash in on the success of the first one!!

I got bundle that came with Golden Classic Controller, the code for the extra game mode, and a T-shirt with the bowler hat on it that says, "Cheater". I got all that on release day. It's a great game.

Personally, I'm just glad to see someone else building up their Wii collection.

It gets more complicated the more you analyse it. A 50 hz PAL gives a better picture than a 60 hz NTSC. You would think 60 would be better than 50 but the PAL format is superior to the NTSC format. However, because most games are made primarily for the NTSC market (US and Japan) the conversion to PAL used to cause frame rate issues.

Years ago it was a big problem, before the TV's here could do both formats. Sonic the Hedgehog ran slower in the UK than the US. :mad:

Oops, forgot to answer the question. 50 hz is the standard but modern TV's can do 50, 60, 100, 120 etc. It makes a difference to playback of dvd (25fps) and bluray (24 or 25 fps).

Took me about ten hours to complete the single player campaign, as well. Course it didn't help that the end boss bugged out on me last night, which would not let me complete the game. I had to reset it to the point where you ride the blue swirly stuff into the lair.

Not a bad game at all.

Actually, having experienced both upfront, I'd say that NTSC has a smoother framerate (29.975 vs 25), although PAL has more accurate colors thanks to the way color is encoded on the system and a slightly more superior resolution (768x625 for PAL vs 720x525 for NTSC). And yeah, Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles actually play faster on an NTSC console, comparing Sonic 3 & Knuckles on VC on my NTSC/UC Wii against the real deal on a PAL Megadrive (ok, they're bootlegged carts and played on a clone console, but still...).

I got FarCry 75% off on the Steam sale. Been waiting for that game to hit less than $5.
