Given it's IMAX, it should really be 4K. 1080p is going to look tiny. Resolution of image details will be less than what is actually available for details and quality.

You're gonna have a good screening then! One of my dreams is to watch Lady and the Tramp in the big screen because of the Cinemascope, but oh, Sleeping Beuaty is even a greater experience. Last year Lady and the Tramp was screened in the great Phenomena cinema in Barcelona, in 35mm and in English, but sadly being too far from me I couldn't attend. My brother lives there and not far from the cinema..

Phenomena is a cinema that screens lots of movies of all kinds, can screen a new premire, or a movie of 50 years ago. It's amazing. I sure am gonna go there whenever I visit my bro.

Technically not a recent purchase, but it finally arrived today after I ordered it in November (or December, I don't remember. It was around the Holidays): Waxwork Records' pressing of Krampus on 180 gram candy cane swirl vinyl.

Waxwork Records usually takes a while, yeah. I haven't even received Goosebumps yet, and I ordered that back in October. I remember cause it was when my Mac was in the shop and it was after my accident. Plus they're taking their time with it, as they're making the jacket just like the front cover of a Goosebumps book. The logo is embossed and has little bumps on it.

I'll post pics of Krapmpus when I open it, after I'm done stuffing my face with chicken salad.

Last thing I bought in movies... Nay, I don't buy movies. I download them, watch them, and delete them. I have come to a point where every movie feels like the alternate retelling of something else and is not worth rewatching. Tho that fat Jack Black Panda doing Kung Fu was entertaining while it lasted. But I'd be more interested in a movie prequel about the turtle.

Last thing I bought in music... Well, last MEMORABLE thing, at least, is what I was missing in the Jake Kaufman's discography on Bandcamp. Including the Jake Shovel Knight : Plague of Shadows Soundtrack, and the AWESOME "Supreme League of Patriots", which is a very fine big band / jazz / funk album. I also bought some other video-game related stuff on Bandcamp. Because fuck it, I love Bandcamp.

Last thing I bought in VIDEO GAMES... For my PS4 I ordered Nights of Azure. For my PC, I got meself all the Tomb Raider games and all the Legacy of Kain games, but not the very first, strangely. Why did GOG hadn't got the rights to sell the very first Legacy of Kain? 'tis a bituva mystery t'me, but, hey, I ain't gonna pick on GOG, 'cuz these dudes are such good guys. Also got meself Anachronox while I was at it. Scratch this. I just bought the new extension for Baldur's gate 1 Enhanced Edition "Siege of Dragonspear". Along with the three enhanced versions of Black isle games (the Two Baldur's with all extensions and the first Icewind Dale)

Last books I bought... The novella "Kharn : Betrayer" and the omnibus "Total War : Lords of Chaos". This last piece is very valuable since it allows ye t'get ye paws on the last book of the duology of Archaon. Strangely, I was able to get the first one, but the second is jus' sold out everywhere in the galaxy. Even the Amazon fags who speculates so grossly over prices of no longer sold material seems to have been unable to get copies of it. The other total war book is useful only if you didn't got earlier the "swords of the emperor" omnibus. Yeah. I like Warhammer. I even gave Age of Sigmar a chance. I'm such a nice guy.

Last things I bought in softwares... A monopost three years licence of ESET Smart Security 8. Because ye can basically get everything off the table in softwares, but ye can't be greedy with condoms. And what are antivirii, if condoms for yer computer, in order to avoid nasty STD's. I don't fuck with that. So I bought a nice licence to get my ass covered for the time being. ESET knows what's good fer ye. Kaspersky's a bit lie the tank of antivirii, it lacks subtlety. ESET is more like the assassin of antivirii. Light armor, daggers, but quick as fuck, light, agile, and it knows that the size of the blade doesn't matter as long as you strike hard in your enemy's weakpoints. It's a critical hit wonder. But of course, it doesn't replace common sense. It also cover syour ass from most of Cryptolockers, maybe even Locky, but I wouldn't dare tackle Petya wiv' it anyway. In a month time from now, we'll all be laughin' about Petya, our antivirii ready for it, but right now, this shit means death 'n' ye shoul' pray on bloody knees t'never encounter that sick fuck anywhere on the internet. I know I do. Also, talkin' 'bout sick fucks, one of 'em deemed it very funny to replace Tokyo Toshokan main search page with a red page warnin' ye ye've been infected with Petya. Yeah, I don't get it either why Disney doesn't want to release the movie, this is 2016.. that movie is good and doesn't feature oh so terrible racism, it's kinda history, and like Warner did with their racist shorts, not showing them would be acting like if the prejudices or slavery didn't exist.

The "racist" or "controversial" scenes don't even take much of the movie at all.. I wish Disney would release it for once.. I think it's just one person who works at Disney and has sworn to never release it til they die..

if I never really play them. Plus, I wouldn't get the proper 3DS cards that actually
the 3DS games on current firmware, since those are really damn expensive. The
Sky3DS+ can be around $80 to $120. In contrast, the DSTWO+, normally $60, I
got for $40. With being able to play of 3 different system types (DS, GBA, SNES),
as well as other features, it was a damn good deal. Now to wait and if it'll pay off
in the end.

From the linear notes, it really seems complete. But apparently there's a lot of debate over that. I'm not an expert on the score, but this really seems legitimately complete. Although I admit the box is nice and the discs are presented in some cardboard slipcover emulating the original soundtracks covers and stuff.

Somehow, the jewel cases, felt much better to me, than the actual "collector" edition presentation. Weird, I know.

Not to mention, all together, they coast a few euros cheaper than the box.

The R4i brand in general have also been well received, with it's lower prices and wood kernel making it an
equal alternative. The only reason I got the DSTWO+ is because the SNES and GBA were my thing growing
up, so those made it an essential purchase for me. It's currently still available at modchipsdirect for $34.99
for a limited time, so I recommend people to get it while they can. If you want something cheaper that'll still
be good value, the R4i 3DS is selling for $14.99 in the same store, making it a steal.

For what, exactly? Did I explain myself wrong and you got confused? The editions I saw in the market were basically the ones that are sold anywhere. The 2004 Sony Classical editions of the Star Wars original trilogy which are nothing but a duplicate of the 1997 RCA editions of each; and the 1999, 2002, and 2005 soundtrack editions of the prequels. The Ultimate Box launched this January 2016 (which I have) consists in pretty much all of these editions, but in one box alltogether, each soundtrack/movie presented in a slipcover digipack-like that folds and is kind of like a replica of old LP's. It opens and you get the CD, and also a weird look at the inside of the original soundtrack (which is weird, because they were BOOKLETS in the original jewel cases and here they had to pick just two pages of each.) All of this idea, which at first it's kind of cool comes from the 2007 30th Aniversary boxset, which is basically the same boxset, with different art, and just the original trilogy. But in that boxset came the idea of having the original trilogy in some kind of slipcases that open like digipacks or whatever; the idea comes because it simulates the original LPS, and so they do; it's kind of cool, yeah, just.. fragile. The jewel cases CDs look a bit more.. simple yet more awesome than this.. I dunno, you take a look at this vid if you haven't caught my drift. So yeah, the idea of the 2007 box got reused again for this 2016 box, except this time, adding the prequel.

And I was merely saying that.. yeah the Ultimate Box presentation is cool, but for some reason I really do enjoy the normal, simple and basic jewel cases presentation, too. Also, I need to point out.. how silly it is, that.. the Original Trilogy in both the 2007 box and 2016 are presented in a slipcover that kind of simulates the original LPs, but.. it's silly because.. the content in the box and those cases, isn't at all what was in the original LPs, it's two discs each movie, which comes from the 2004 Sony Classical. It makes no sense. The slipcase simulates the original soundtrack but the content is not the same exact LP soundtrack. Silly.

No difference, they're just simple normal soundtracks in jewel cases. I just somehow like them too. They just look awesome to me. Somehow. The art and all. The cristal package. And mostly how the prequel cases look with the tray.

For the moment as the most uhd disc are mastered 2k upscaled 4k, the real diff�rence I saw is the color because of the rec2020.

I compared the martian on my pana DBT700 (one of the best player) up in 4k with my ub900 ( review http://www.whathifi.com/panasonic/dmp-ub900/review ) native uhd disc.

I want uhd disc native 4k to really compare the resolution, but about colour, it's clear that the new generation is better, more deeper and seems to be in relief.

I have the Samsung UE85HU7590 with the sek3500, a good screen.

I gave up Lost Dimension for Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters. I was tryin to enjoy the game, but I just couldn't bring myself to terms with it. I'm gonna have to give up on Twilight, too due to a TERRIBLE mechanic in the battle system. I was fightin a boss when it disappeared on me and it never came back the rest of the battle. That should NEVER, EVER happen in video games. I was enjoyin it too.

Bought a 50 foot cat6 Ethernet cable. Since my PC now sits on the side of the room directly opposite the port in the wall. Ran the cable under the baseboard to conceal it. You'd never even know it's there.

$29.99 at HMV. That's much better than paying regular 59.99 for the seasons.

They only have sales on the first two seasons.

Slim-pack. The case fits like any regular bluray out there. So no map, family tree, or fancy box.
But that's fine.

It isn't the Dolby Atmos re-release.
Audio is still DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.

I did manage to download the Atmos audio but never got around to comparing surround dynamics (on a 5.1, but Atmos mixes often get very dynamic surround sound mixes, music included).

Personally, is there a huge difference between the Atmos and DTS-HD MA 5.1? If there was any I wouldn't appreciate any because my speakers are my TV's speakers so..

For stereo, no.

For 5.1, yes.

Atmos gets way more surround sound treatment over standard surround sound.

I was doing a Transformers marathon and noticed a huge difference between Dark of the Moon and then watching Age of Extinction right after.
When I watch Atmos (base is 7.1 audio, then matrixed to bounce audio around for up to 11.1 or whatever you want), downmixing that to 5.1, I still hear a huge difference in theatrical surround sound on a really old 5.1 sound system.

The difference is amazing. Even though I don't have an Atmos sound system.
I play on my PC and let it do all the downmixing for me to send out to my receiver.

Maybe, downmixing to a "Dolby Headphone" mix with Atmos might produce somethign more amazing.

Knowing that, I guess I wouldn't appreciate any single difference between the Atmos and DTS-HD MA 5.1, being that I use my TV's speakers. Wouldn't get anything either if I had an stereo soundbar, so.. And I COULD stand it but only if the show's plot was that damn worth to stand it. Which I'm not sure..

I like the GoT editions with the dragon eggs or dragon figurines, but I know I'm never getting any of these, not only they're limited out of stock but cannot afford. Breaking Bad I've been meaning to get into one day, my bro has watched it, I've heard it's good. No Walking Dead. I know I'm a pussy with zombie stuff, but that's not the main reason, I'm just not interested.

And SEX.

There's lots of sex in that show.
Softcore on-screen sex.
No close ups of penetration.

There's rape, as of last season. It was all off-screen. It pissed off a lot of people.
Our family was wishing for her death at that point. And for that one wee little loser who can't do anything about anything.

I'd want to get Breaking Bad in Blu-ray because, not only I heard the show is good, but the Blu-ray season sets are nice, loaded with great special features, nice presentation, not too expensive. Really worth to have in the collection

Bought a ticket for Tonight's PACE show.

Game of Thrones: sex, dragons, sex, blood, sex, torture, sex, wolves, sex, murder, incest, sex and, of course, sex, sex and more sex

Of all of that, I'm only into dragons. Dragons and fantasy, the wolves of Season 1, and mostly the beauty that is the Dragon Lady, the only thing that makes me want to check Games of Thrones. The rest are meh. The story must have to be DAMN good to make me ignore all of the excess of the things I'm not fond of and enjoy the show.

If you read the books, don't bother.

Even though, they threw in extra stuff for the TV show only, it's still not enough for the book readers.
They created new content to throw off the book readers who wanted nothing more than to spoil the story for everyone. :rolleyes:

I've read the first chapter of book 1, and it was a fun read.
But, it's still in need of a chart to remember all the names. The author works too quickly to establish a fantasy world with made-up names and places.
There's a lot of trivial stuff you don't need to know.

The TV show does nice to condense everything, as does every TV show.
God knows how sucky the True Blood books must be.

Forgot to include earlier... bought the novelization of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag by Oliver Bowden. Just bought an hour ago from a garage sale, 4 LP's... The soundtracks to Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The fourth LP was the soundtrack to a television series from the late 70's, Monkey Magic (The band was called 'Godiego').

Got all 4 LP's for $10 total.

A while back I made a really good post about why so many people like vinyl over a CD. I thought it was in my vinyl OST thread, but it's not. Long story short, vinyl is just so much cooler. A giant 12" jacket with a nice big front cover. Lyrics and liner notes. Posters of the album. Colored vinyl (show me a colored Compact Disc). Sometimes the jackets actually do something - the The Rolling Stones' infamous Sticky Fingers. It's a pair of jeans that you can actually unzip. Rod Stewart's Sing It Again Rod is a die-cut glass of whisky. Jack White's Lazaretto projects a hologram of an angel when it's playing (https://youtu.be/YGH2m5sRylM). I could go on and on about why vinyl is so cool. But that pretty much sums it up ;)

PS show me a single Compact Disc that does any of that :p

This reminds me, I picked up what was apparently a 'bootleg' vinyl of The Beatles' Yesterday and Today (sealed and brand new) over at Waterloo Records in Austin, Texas (we went on a trip down south in 2012).

It's literally one of my prized possessions, the record is orange! It's beautiful! One of vinyl's unique traits.

Critic Joe Bob Briggs did a breakdown of the travel route the Warriors could have taken to avoid the gangs. They would have been home in 20 minutes. Instead, their route took them through every patch of rival gang territory in NYC.

Of course, then there would not have been a movie.

Can't wait to watch Creed in native 4k, it's one of the first native uhd 4k from a to z (not 2k mastered up to 4k like max max, san andreas etc) and it's a great movie too.

I am not a fan of the new covers for the 89-97 Batman films. Really tries to trick the person into thinking its the Nolan Trilogy. Though considering the design of the Batsuit in the covers, it'll probably still be easy to tell apart. So much for its intent.

In fact I collect all steelbook expect Creed because I bought the 4K version and it has a simple plastic box like all UHD bluray for the moment :-(.

Otherwise the new version of Cubrick in bluray steelbook are great, a beautiful black and relief steel.

How about no? You're being too spoiled. You've grown to think you can get every single thing you want in the Shrine. And that is not true. Not everyone is entitled to share or give you whatever you want.. you cannot get everything in the Shrine.. you've done it a lot with Mr. Gold and pretty much everyone here.. and it's a bit rude, and annoying.
