Anyone see the live Facebook Q&A with Pearl Mackie and Steven Moffat (https://www.facebook.com/BBCOne/videos/1522466307773782/)? They had the BBCNOW and they performed A Good Man?, a special arrangement of Bill's Theme, Breaking the Wall from Heaven Sent, and the theme. The Bill's Theme arrangement was beautiful.

If they're performing the music live, that means a soundtrack can't be too far away. Live performances of music from a series usually come a few months before or a few months after the soundtrack release. While this isn't technically a music performance, it placed lots of highlight on Murray's score from Series 9 and 10 to say it was just a Facebook Q&A. Almost as if they want to bring it to attention. I'm thinking we're in for a combined Series 9/10 release in the next few months. The chances of a standalone Series 9 soundtrack are slim now and a combined release is more cost effective. Hell, the combined release may even be 4 discs (2 discs for each series) so we're not technically losing out.

My prediction which I'm standing by:

Autumn/Winter 2017: Series 9 and 10 Soundtrack

2018: 12th Doctor Christmas Specials Soundtrack (The Husbands of River Song, The Return of Doctor Mysterio, 2017 Christmas Special)

I've recently come across some information about a fairly recent release from the Radiophonic Workshop. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiophonic_Workshop_(2014_album)

It looks like it was available exclusively to people with a subscription to Bowers and Wilkins. There's still a link on their site to info about the release, but no download link.

Do any of you knowledgeable people know anything more about this, and if there's any way to get hold of a copy?

Is that seriously a flying "Mondasian" Cyberman!? They really are trying to ruin the original Cybermen, making them just like the generic Iron Man ones, it seems. Hopefully the episode will actually be good compared to the last (all chances of it being good were ruined when the BBC themselves spoiled pretty much the entire plot months in advance).

I thought the exact same thing.

What I want to know is how come we never saw the Troughton Era Cybermen or even the Davidson/Baker/McCoy Era cybermen. I would had thought that if you are going to go retro then feature everyone or is Moffat saying that New Era Who Cybermen are connect to 1st Doctor Cybermen, and that the other versions of the cybermen are connected to the Troughton Era and come from Telos, which I belive was mentioned in the Cyberman book by David Banks or something along those line.

Is the Master really dead? Where is Missy's TARDIS. This is somethinh that was never explained.

Best thing for me was seeing the Flashback of Companions as in Logopolis and the 1st Dr walking around in snow.

Does the X-mas special take place between the final moments of the Dr leaving the Snow base and his regeneration/Renewal?

Simm's Master informed Missy she wouldn't be regenerating due to getting the full blast from the weapon. But it was only assumed by them that Simm's regenerates into Missy. her memory is hazy. There could, in fact, be several regenerations between Simms and Missy.

And why did the Mondasian cybermen have the modern boot-stomping sound effect when they walked? That effect has been over-used for a number of alien races to be honest, and certainly wasn't needed for those first generation cybermen.

The Doctor Falls really has a memorable soundtrack, Murray Gold has excelled himself once again. The variation of Breaking the Wall (This Time There's Three of Us) is brilliantly done and the music which Capaldi sees no stars, really seems like it was the end.

Hi there!
Has anyone heard any news, regarding the release of Series 9 or Series 10 soundtracks? Not to mention the Specials...

There's nothing yet. When there's news it'll be posted here for sure. Everyone seems to be pointing fingers when asked why it's taking so long so it's hard to guess the actual reason. We can email BMG and Silva Screen as much as we want, but the answer seems to be the same; the person answering the email doesn't really know. It's a shame Murray's social media accounts are inactive, because then he could update us. All we can really do is keep pressing BBC, Silva Screen and BMG through social media to let them know a soundtrack is something fans desperately want.

That said, I'm standing by my prediction/hope that a combined Series 9/10 Soundtrack will be released before the year is out, especially since the music from Series 9 and 10 is now being performed live which usually precedes a soundtrack.

So I haven't posted much in a long time. The reason being, of course, busy with work.
I have however been working on a project I call the 'Murray Gold Original Mixes'.
This project consists of me reconstructing released tracks back to their original episode mixes.
This is done using Omnisphere and the Stylus RMX.

I've also managed to do something special with Doctor Who XI. Removed a layer of the melody. The quality is not great but it gives you a chance to hear a more stripped back version.

All this will be on the way soon. Just wanted to update you guys and let you know I haven't left.

I Managed to do a semi-decent isolation of the Doctor Who XI Theme as well. Not entirely great, but removes mostly the bassline, a part of the orchestral Strings (unfortunately) and some drum elements.

Did you ever upload the The Doctor Falls rip? It's not in your index.

I know this is aimed more at music but does anyone have the Ecclestone/Tennant clean opening titles in 1080p HD? I've been able to acquire it in 720HD but need it clearer?

thanks guys

ReddiShadow

Do the titles even exist in 1080p? I'd think even your 720p version would be an upscale, the show wasn't produced in HD back then and it would be pointless to render effects in HD given the increased costs for no rewards. Hell, the Tennant titles had to very obviously be remade from newer elements from Planet of the Dead onward, the TARDIS model in particular looks noticeably different

I'm not sure how I feel about that. Murray's been part of the show for so long that him leaving is a rather worrying thing. I can see why he would leave, but at the same time I don't want him to. His music has been great.

I have to agree. It probably says a lot when the only music that was actually memorable was when he used Murray's themes in the first episode. But the whole show was forgettable so it might not be fair to judge him on that. His work on Torchwood (Big Finish) isn't much either, he seems to just use Jack's theme for every time anything happens and pretty much no other music, but that might just be something Big Finish has imposed on him.

All 6 of the releases he was talking about are classic DW soundtracks. No word yet on anything from the new series.

I'd say there'll be a new series release of some kind before Series 11 airs. We're about due for another Symphonic Spectacular/Proms performance and that always gets BBC to hurry Silva and Murray along with the soundtracks. Apparently Murray recently became a father which is why the Series 9 soundtrack has taken so long (Murray was split between being a father and working on Doctor Who leaving little time to work on the soundtrack), so I imagine a Series 9 release is on the way if Murray has had the time to work on it.

There could always be a combined Series 9/10 release as well which is what I'm leaning towards (could even be a 4 disc release). The soundtracks always sell well, so I can't see there never being another one.

I'm leaning towards a combined Series 9/10 soundtrack before the end of 2017 with a 12th Doctor Christmas Specials soundtrack in early 2018.

Thank you, Zak!! I'm looking forward to hear the Eccleston music. Remember to check the bottom channel from Series 1 5.1 audio tracks because some of them have very clean music tracks ;)

Indeed I have.
For example, one of them (which I unfortunately named incorrectly somehow, but has something to do with fingernails, I believe) is the transition sound from much of the Matt Smith era. (https://mega.nz/#!014FRIzD!tSwVMyKekT64E6S91JMxmtwF7EMiMZWF5UvTf8YoV1Y)

Have you, by chance, found any more in Omnisphere 1 since last year? There's a lot to go through here and a lot of it is very similar.

Anyway, here's one of my favorite overall scores from the revived series. Nothing else, really, it's just bloody amazing.

As with every CD release I've come across there's no repeating of music as there's simply no need. It does however feature some music that went unused that I think is exclusive to that release. Either way, I'd say it's worth getting anyway.

...The weather's been lovely recently so I've been indoors listening to The Moonbase and have found another excitingly unidentified thing, as brief as it is futile:

moonbase thing (http://www.mediafire.com/listen/7qup2utkfnyf4wz/moonbase+thing.wav)

- That's a door, Hypnosis, Background Static to Echoes from the Moon, then, at 10 seconds, A New Thing! I think this one does sound like a snippet from one of Cary's Masterplan tracks...

NEWSFLASH: This swooping sound also appears in Dr No - in the same scene as the 'Swirly Atmospherics' thing I'm always banging on about.

It's not radiophonic and, thanks to GinjaNinja's Google prowess, we can be reasonably sure it's another cue from the Cinesound library.

First off, great work on what I've heard so far, the Series 1 soundtracks are amazing, and I can't wait till the finale.

Do your rips include tracks from the Adventure Games (or other games), or are they only available separately in your archive, ie. do you add clean music to your dvd rips?

Additionally, what are your 'bonus' folders?

Edit: Also, anything from The Infinite Quest? As far as I can recall it's not got anything new in it, but who knows?

Yes, Zak uses every available clean piece of music be it from the official soundtracks or the games. The bonus folders are basically anything that is different to what is included in his rips such as soundtrack/game versions or the concert performances from the proms and anything else that is available that is not in the actual rips. Nothing can be done with The Infinite Quest as it's only available in stereo, it only reused music anyway so there's nothing missed by not having it.

Dudley Simpson's music made many of my favourite classic who stories come alive.

I was sad to hear that much of his music did not exist when then anniverary release was being done.

The new Shada score has parts that are similar to the City of Death score

Agreed i liked that also, theres a nice throwback to piece in The Brain of Morbius and earlier 4th Doctor themes

Just a minor thing Zak103, but the track 'Defabricator (Jack's Game)' seems to be too short, missing the first refrain. The first refrain has a different ending to the second, which is slightly longer.

Awesome, thanks! :)

I've also been meaning to ask, once you reach the Matt Smith era, could you mark where re-use of music occurs? There's a lot of re-used music from that point onwards, and it becomes increasingly difficult to figure out where a track first played. Having some kind of note on re-used tracks would be very useful.

That's just going to be a LOT of "I am the Doctor". And that always sounded exactly the same to me so finding whether that's a re-used cue or new variant is probably more work than it's worth. Beyond that I'm not sure there's much re-used music, at-least not anymore than any other era had.

Trust me, I've been rewatching this era recently, and it's rife with music re-use. I must have heard A Probe in the Snow about 8 times in Series 7. It gets almost ludicrous with tracks like A Lonely Decision or Little Amy being repeated in dozens of eps.

So when watching an ep it can be very tricky sourcing the origins of the cue.

Guess I am wrong, then. I haven't seen most of the Matt Smith era since broadcast, and don't ever intent to as I can't stand Matt Smith (he's easily the worst Doctor, closely followed by David Tennant in my opinion). I'd try listening to the rips I have of his era and try to compile a list of re-used music, but I've no idea whether they're complete or not.

Anyone know where I could find clean closing Pertwee 1970 Titles? Been looking on the DVD's and can only find clean opening titles.

I'll take a look through when I get there. From what I remember from the Eleventh Hour, it's got some of Midnight (re-orchestrated) and the Next Doctor hidden throughout, but I'm probably missing some.

I have a quick sort of opinion thing for you guys. Without thinking about it much, assemble your ideal series 2 soundtrack, maximum 69 tracks, 3 discs (like the series 8 OST.)

Is anybody able to upload the music/sounds from all the DVD photo galleries?
