What did you think of the ability to hear the tracks. Too much sfx and voice echo isn't there. Deep breath was better at extracting than Into The Dalek. Guess we are going to have to get used to a limited ability to extract the music from each episode.

I guess for those who love all the sound effects used in the show. These 5.1 mixes are perfect for extracting those. I look forward to your Into The Dalek rip :)

Must say though the episode was flipping amazing. Daleks doing what they do best. Great battle scenes felt like the classic episodes with that music and CGI was top notch.

Is that when they are the toy radio controlled daleks in the corridor? That music reminded me of classic dalek stories. It felt soooo right with the shots of them approaching the rebels.

Well the music is getting a lot more electronic and more uses of synth (especially in Into The Dalek) and Ben always used those sort of instruments/samples in his compositions for Torchwood Series 1 & 2. I'm glad they are using more synth sounds in the orchestrations. Feels like a blend of classic and new who coming together. Murray Gold of course did the music for Torchwood Miracle day instead of Ben Foster so I don't see why they can't do the opposite for Doctor Who. Ben conducts the music for the show anyway so the idea does seem likely.

I don't mind Ben composing some music for Series 8. He did an excellent job for the first 3 series of Torchwood and his music for Hidden Kingdoms is really powerful emotional stuff.

And it certainly would explain why the music suddenly actually fits the mood and pacing of the story and has some variety in it...
(Though did anyone else notice the bit in Into the Dalek when the Torchwood theme randomly started playing as part of the score???)

In the bit where the dalek is repaired

I've gone back and listened to that bit and honestly, if it is the main Torchwood theme (Not Miracle Day), I cannot hear it.

Kooriv
09-01-2014, 06:20 PM
I hear the bit in question... the backbeat has the same rhythm, but honestly it doesn't seem much different to some of the pre-Series 5 tracks using a sequence of four rising notes that might, in retrospect, sound like I Am the Doctor. Same with how, early on in Series 6, people assumed Murray was bringing "This Is Gallifrey" back, because "Melody Pond" sounds somewhat similar to that (and "All the Strange, Strange Creatures"). And, indeed, how the new Action Theme/Twelve's Theme from Deep Breath (the "not me"/"me!" bit) isn't a million miles removed from IAtD. I guess it's just a rhythm that sounds nice and natural to Murray's musical ear.

EDIT: For reference, it's from 4:45 in track nine ("We're In ... Rusty Repaired") of CGCJ's rip.

Well, we have to wait for the series to finish its initial broadcast and even then, it will probably be a few months after that when we'll start to hear about the series 8 soundtrack.

I think it's more likely we'll get a Day of the Doctor/Time of the Doctor soundtrack just before Christmas and then a Series 8 Soundtrack early next year which will also include music from this year's Christmas Special.

I very, very much doubt the Time/Day of release happening. No reason, just a very, very bad feeling about it. A season 8 album is likely, but not this year. Spring perhaps, or next fall, just before Season 9 happens.

If we do get a soundtrack release for those episodes, it'll probably end up being like the Matt Smith Christmas episodes soundtrack, a combined soundtrack for both of the episodes, due to their high re-usage of old music.

Yes. That is the FIRST of 2 master tape (so-called) albums I posted. All of these are in the unreleased series 1 I posted. This is where I got some of the tracks (and names) from. Although I got it somewhere else. This is what I have been trying to tell you people for a while. I posted a series of Series 1 & 2 unreleased cues, clean cues that were so-called master tapes, and also an unreleased album for Girl in the Fireplace. I put this all with rips done here into an album and had friends here help order and arrange it. Ok. But what I was trying to figure out at that time was why I was getting confused by what I was organizing was not matching the suggestions. I had once posted a series 1 master tapes, that I was given at another site. This is the one just posted here. Although tracks are same names the music is not. I kept trying to tell people these were different tracks, but eventually allowed myself to believe I was just hearing wrong. As it turns out, there ARE two different promos....:) I must rest, sorry. Also, Chris, have you gone through all of the Adventure Games music and determined all of which are unreleased pieces of music yet? Or has anyone? That could change with the 50th Collection Boxset coming out shortly. They may have redone it as they said the discs have been re-scanned with all the new content. I'm still annoyed we didn't get a release of that music despite the company who made it being very keen on the idea.

Thanks! I shall always be amazed at how great a quality you can edit these tracks to, especially knowing how they are originally presented.

An unreleased track from Closing Time (First used in The Pandorica Opens)
Attack Of The Cybermat (http://www.mediafire.com/listen/b6946ar4c3sujgz/Attack_Of_The_Cybermat.mp3)

Is there any tracks that were not released that anybody want's me to try and clean up?

A couple of requests. The I am the Doctor from the beginning of Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, when the Doctor rounds up the gang. And this track used in Day of the Doctor (same casing scene), Time of the Doctor (Clara and Matt in the TARDIS), and Deep Breath (the phone call). It's been ripped before in various episode rips but have all been a bit soundeffecty dodgy.

If you can try, much appreciation.

All these years I've thought that bootleg was genuinely leaked! Good work though.

Thinking back it's not from 2005, it's from 2006 isn't it, so after the 5.1 DVDs came out. Silly me!

AHHHH! Silva's done it again! The 11 disc set is delayed again to the 29th, due to a printing error. But they'll let us know if it gets pushed sooner

Would anyone be so kind as to post the White Noise album(s?) that Delia Derbyshire did with David Vorhaus (and possibly others in the Radiophonic Workshop?)?

Really loved the music in Robot Of Sherwood. REALLY interested to see what Murray Gold has in store for Listen. His music for creepy episodes is quite eerie stuff. Also there using the Series 2 scream for the opening of the new theme tune. I Approve.

There has never been any official soundtrack release, but there has been a selection of tracks uploaded by Sam and Dan Watts, the two composers for The Sarah Jane Adventures (Besides Murray Gold composing the theme tune). Also, I have ripped the music from all of series 3-5 except Sky part 1 from 5.1 copies of the episodes, which can be found here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-collection-all-soundtracks-72196/256.html#post2678467).

I think there's more to this actually, as I'm not seeing "Tie Traveller" on here and a few others seem to be missing as well. I'm guessing there was more than one album?

From what I see, the tracklist of that album was the same every time - from original vinyl release to 2008 remaster.
Vorhaus later released five further albums as WN, but everything is solo work from what I know ;)

THE CAVENDISH ALBUMS

The following albums feature music and ambiances by a variety of BBC Radiophonic Workshop composers, never released commercially, but made available for media companies to use on their material for a fee. They were compiled from 320kbps Spotify rips I randomly discovered one night (I didn't know the albums existed before then!) and 128kbps rips from the official site where the tracks can be sampled before purchase. Full CD art provided for all albums by PearlCorderman, who also discovered that the extra tracks were available on the official site and helped me with the rips. These albums have never been available to buy in the shops, nor are they ever likely to be.

'Time and Space' is my personal favourite - lots of Malcolm Clarke roundabout the time he was composing and using the same sound pallette for 'Attack of the Cybermen'. And there are alternative versions of some tracks used in 'Doctor Who ' most notably, several different versions of 'The Milonga' (aka 'Wrack's Banquetting Music' in 'Enlightenment').

If you like the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and missed the previous long since dead links, grab them now - a must have and highly recommended!

Just to drag this thread back to 1965 and The Space Museum, may have solved a little mystery, but I need someone who can slow a track down.

Bathysphere by Erik Nordgren is frequently listed as having appeared in the story but no one knew where. Well, he composed this thing called Aliens which appears on MQ759, the same album as Bathysphere. Now, if you get to 2 minutes 11 seconds, you'll hear a series of whoops with what sounds like a piano backing. Slow it down and you have the backing to the glass magically reassembling in Vicki's hand. I think it may have been edited slightly too.

If they used the 78rpm version, Aliens is on a disc that contains Bathysphere. MQ 760 contained his Asyndeton, the bit used where they see the Dalek. That record also contained Meteroids, heard in The Time Meddler. I'm no expert but i think they were reissued as 45rpms a few years later.

From what I see, the tracklist of that album was the same every time - from original vinyl release to 2008 remaster.
Vorhaus later released five further albums as WN, but everything is solo work from what I know ;)
Any chance you could post those as well? :) (Or anyone else who happens to have them handy! I quite like Vorhaus' work!)

I didn't like Listen much, it seemed an uneventful, boring episode to me, in every way. (Probably didn't help that my viewing was constantly interrupted by it cutting out due to bad signal :/) No pieces of music stand out to me from it... Seems a shame, as people who had read the leaked script seemed to think it would be a great episode. (I have already finished ripping the music and am uploading it to Mega now) One thing that really annoys me, is the way they used 'I Am the Doctor' for the next time sequence. I had hoped that I'd never have to hear it again, as I never liked it and it just reminds me of the Eleventh Doctor, which I never liked...

I have to agree it is not the best so far but it is introducing more of the danny pink character, but again capaldi pulled off an excellent portrayal of our favorite time lord.

uneventful maybe
but I didnt find it boring, I found it interesting even
it was the kind of episode that would do better with mood and less outstanding music

I need to have a small rant. I have loved DW since Peter Davison took over as the Doctor (whe I started watching). I embraced NewWho and loved it. But it has all crashed down for me with Series 8 (althougn it has been heading downhill since Moff took over).

Even though stylistically it looks better than it ever with great direction and sets, it is falling down on so many fronts for me.

Moffatt seems like a Robert Holmes or a Eric Saward rather than a RTD - ie. he needs a producer as he can't make solid scripts on his own. There were great parts in this weeks episode, as in most weeks, but they never feel structured like a proper story. I have never felt that way about DW before.

Capaldi is undoubtably a great actor but for some reason, even though I saw past Colin Baker as Maxil by Attack of the Cybermen, I can't get the guy from Pompeii out of my head every time I see him. I wonder if it will ever go away as I want it to, it's annoying. He seems to be channelling more Colin Baker (pre LC) than Tom Baker to me.

I don't like the theme tune, I even prefer the one from Dimensions in Time!

I feel like I've become old and grumpy at 40 but I feel it's time for new blood producing DW already. Someone told me Moff is planning on staying for Season 10. What an egotist, he has had the 50th, the first regeneration cycle (which he accelerated so he would get it) now he wants Season 10. Grrrr.

The best things about the Moff era are Clara and River, two strong, likeable women although overcomplicated by the Moff and his poor scripting. I think the reason he did so well in the RTD days was he had someone to force a satisfying format on him, RTD knew a good story and structure that satisfied. Left alone we end up with this week's episode which was like the terrible third part of a trilogy with Fear Her (not Moff I know) and Night Terrors. I'm tired of seeing frightened children... DW had a strength in being pitched at adults and loved by children in the past.

Night Terrors and Listen had potential to be great stories if they had been structured into full stories with a point and resolution rather than nice ideas that Moff had come up with and thrown in rather than making cohesive. having said that, it's how I feel about the Harry Potter movies, they have great characters and "bits" but seem unstructured and flow poorly. Shows like Under the Dome, Hannibal and Misfits keep me entertained each episode without feeling like something is wrong structurally, as there always feels like a point to each episode with dramatic building and resolution. MoffWho doesn't feel like that, I come away unsatisfied to some extent every week.

Well, I have to disagree with you in strongest possible terms on nearly every part of your rant. I LOVE the new Doc, more than any other. He has tons of both early Tom Baker and Hartnell in his portrayal seasoned with a hefty dash of Troughton. Who was never ever pitched to adults. It has always been a children's show adults can enjoy. Always. I have only seen the Pompeii episode once. I have never seen Capaldi in anything else so I have no problem with him at all. He is just fascinating to watch. These stories ARE parts of a whole. We are getting another one of those "it all fits together" seasons, which I admit I can do without. I am meh about Clara. I am a Rose/Amy girl. But I get the feeling we have only scratched the surface with Clara still. And I hear she is leaving? I think they are figuring that in. I ADORED Listen. It freaked me out, to the point of not sleeping. Tidbits of the Doctor's history & family.Confirmation that the title Time Lord does not just apply to being Gallifreyan. Hints that something was up with Doc far before his wanderings began. Wonderings if Clara's story is written in stone since we now know she has a family with weeping soldier boy. The feeling Doc knows about it somehow. All very intriguing to me. New music from Gold that is utterly understated and scene appropriate. It's all fantastic for me. Love the bookcases in the control room. love the chalk board. Love that he lectures to himself, and is still a madman. It all works good. I love New Who far more than any classic episode, which is saying a lot.

The new theme however, does HAVE to go. The fiorst time I have ever just fast forwarded through it.

I agree with almost everything you said Amanda, with the exception that I do rather like the new theme myself :P if series 8 was a bingo card I would have a full house, I've loved what Moffat has done with this series so far, which is impressive as I started watching with Eccleston and have grown up with 'Nuwho' (how I loathe the term) and in particular Murray's music. But I honestly thought that with the departure of Smith the show would loose the magic for me, the magic that had kept me watching for years. Luckily it was still there in Deep Breath and hasn't been lost yet, I have high hopes for the show.

Now to hopefully get us back to the matter of music, any thoughts on a release of music from the 50th and Time of the Doctor? recently got the 50th DVD collection and I was thinking what a great companion a CD or two of the music from it would be.

There seems to be no indication at all that anniversary sets are coming for the music. Nothing I have read about yet, anyway. If a Series 8 comes next year, perhaps the anniversary stuff will too, but I am getting a sinking feeling regarding it.

I'm surprised some people didn't like "Listen". It was arguably the best episode in years (ironically coming after possibly one of the worst - the Robots Of Sherwood, which was little more than a ridiculous pantomime). I watch, and have always watched, Dr. Who for well-written episodes like 'Listen'; I only wish there were many more of them.

'Listen' also didn't rely exclusively on Murray Gold's 'cheap, knock-off Hollywood action scores', as they have been called - there were some understated eerie moods and touches of Radiophonic electronica, which old Dr Who fans know and love so well. In fact, it's the only episode since the reboot in 2005 that I thought I'd like to get the soundtrack.

Capaldi is doing great. He might prove to one of the best doctors. The show desperately needed some darkness and cynicism. I liked Matt Smith, but thank god we're done with his silly/goofy Doctor. Many of the attempts at humour fell a little flat for my tastes.

Amazing detective skills there! I'm on a terrible Victorian laptop at the minute which barely boots up let alone play audio, but I've managed to slow it down anyway. I've assumed it was a 78 record played at 45 rpm (like a lot of the other tracks from Space Museum) but, as I say, I am somewhat handicapped by not actually being able to hear it! So this may or may not be what you're after:

Thanks! It's not that hard to do, actually - download Audacity (it's free), use it to open your audio file then highlight the audio track (the best way is just clicking to the left of the track). Then, if you select "Effect" from the dropdown menu, you'll see a "Change Speed" option. And this is where it gets *really* easy - you don't have to fiddle with percentages, or do any maths - in the "change speed" dialogue box there are two more drop down menus next to the words "Standard vinyl RPM" in which you can select a "from" speed (78 in this case) and a "to" speed (45 in this case). Click on "ok" and it does it all for you! (Just remember to "export" rather than "save"...) Honestly, it takes about 15 seconds.

But speaking of obscure Hartnell library tracks, I've got Trevor Duncan's "Scorched Earth" in the post at the moment. I'll need to steal someone else's laptop before I can digitise it, but, assuming it arrives intact, I'll hopefully have it up here within a week or two. :)

Thanks! It's not that hard to do, actually - if you download Audacity (it's free), use it to open your audio file, highlight the audio track (just click on the left of the track with your mouse), then if you select "Effect" from the dropdown menu you'll see a "Change Speed" option. Now, Scorched Earth - beautiful! Where in The Time Meddler did that one get used?

*reboots pc once again*

I can't check, 'cos, as I've just discovered, the PDFs of the PasBs on the BBC site are yet another thing that makes this laptop crash! (It's a long list. I won't bore you.)

I *think* it's listed as appearing in part 2, so I'm guessing it's the "attack of the viking stock footage" music. (Is that part 2? Can't remember. If not, then God knows!) I'm well aware it could be another case of "PasB typo", in which case I've just splashed out a load of Euros in vain...

Do have a play with Audacity - it looks rather daunting at first but it can come in most useful in our, erm, "line of work". It's great for compiling suites of disparate cues for one thing. (My Tomb of the Cybermen opening suite recreation was made with it, for example.)

I don't think they would be dumb enough to absolutely outrage fandom like that. They're already treading in some very murky waters of anger as it is... that would be the move that would cause an outright revolt.

I'm really appreciating the music rips from DrMatt, CGCJ and others.

I've just had an opportunity to see the new Space 1999 series 1 soundtrack set from Fanderson. Didn't get to hear the tracks, unfortunately, but I understand they've been remastered with loving care. Included are all the library tracks used in the series, unused cues and tracks, and specially composed tracks for those theatrical edits such as 'Alien Attack'. There's a proper set of liner notes describing the action and explaining the track, and what portions were used or re-used elsewhere. There are tracks also that were re-used from other shows like Thunderbirds and Joe 90 included. The non-specially composed tracks have been speed matched to the speed used in the episodes. This is one of a number of releases like this that this organisation has put the time and effort into producing.

The only way we get to experience DW music with anywhere near this level of commitment, respect (for the material and the fans), and technical quality is on this forum. The NuWho commercial releases are ok-ish, but the classic body of work, including library tracks et al, is woefully underserved. I feel completely let down by the BBC especially in this 50th year of the show. The new CD set, if it ever arrives, seems to me to be a completely missed opportunity in terms of getting unheard and unreleased tracks out there. (And that's before we comment on the packaging issues!) Sure, there are some gems on there, but not many. Rare opportunity sacrificed for the sake of a dubious marketing strategy aimed at mass appeal.

Come on, BBC! Come on, Dr Who Fan Club! You can beat a fanclub that has not seen a programme it celebrates made in years. Where are you when we need you? We've loyally supported you for up to fifty years. Give something back!

An important fact you didn't mention is the Space 1999 set costs 31.50 for three discs, expensive compared to Doctor Who CD releases (IIRC the 4 disc "50th Collection" was around 14 or so). I've said it before though, that Space 1999 set is exactly the sort of product Silva should be issuing in the Doctor Who range. It's a neat and classy product, focused where it should be (on the music), at a premium price. Not a crass, tacky package needlessly bloated to huge size with redundant discs and tracks.

Yeah, I'm still very disappointed in what the big 50th boxset turned out to be!

Because you cannot follow the Google link to get there. I was given a 'backdoor' page to get to: Evolution Music Partners (http://office.evolutionmusicpartners.com/main)

you must sign in. All blanks must be filled in. When you do get in, a box, and error box - null widget will show. Click "ok". Another one will show. click ok again - 12 times, and it will go away. DO NOT click the "don't show this again" button or you will see no info, and will have to log out and relog in, then still go through the crap. It is a pain in the ass to navigate, but thousands of hours of music exist there....

Heaven is from Into the Dalek, when Gretchen ends up in 'Heaven' after being killed by Dalek antibodies.
You Are a Good Dalek is from near the end of Into the Dalek, when Rusty declares the Doctor to be a good Dalek and continues onto the part where the Doctor refuses Journey to join him.
They've Been Here the Whole Time sounds like portions of it are from Deep Breath but I don't think it is, based on the title not appearing as dialogue in the episode.
Hello Earth, We Have a Terrible Decision to Make, no idea, don't think it's appeared yet.
Blue Rescue One, the title makes me think of Into the Dalek but I cannot find it in my rip, so I don't know. Probably from an episode yet to be broadcast.

Shame. I half expected him to upload his Series 7 themes ;) since we never got officially released versions of them. Still very much annoyed by that. What was the point in murray gold revamping the Doctor Who XI theme for one series if he was going to create a completely different theme for the next series (8) and also a one off remix for the Day Of The Doctor. And we are told Silva Screen can't obtain the licence. Why? It's used in every form of promotional material for Series 8.

I'm thinking he might add stuff that's not included on the CD's. Like bonus stuff to listen too. or perhaps that's where we can hear sneak peaks at new stuff. Perhaps he might add tracks from the past that were missed from the soundtracks. that would be awesome. he did say in an interview he would find a way to release all the content that wasn't added to CD. He might have his chance now.

Track List:

1 Heaven
2 You Are A Good Dalek
3 They've Been Here The Whole Time
4 Hello Earth, We Have A Terrible Decision To Make
5 Blue Rescue One
6 There's A Rather Big Problem
7 NASA Is That Way

** Now remember, recently many people have openly posted in this forum that I am nothing but a leech. I steal other's posts as my own. I am greedily making sure no one gets to hear any of my goodies and I ought be ashamed and banned. No one disputed that, or said shit. I am NOT EVER sharing again as a result, and yet.....yet I cannot sit on this.....

I was going to post it this week and then saw you had posted it.

Indeed, Amanda. Those of us who have been here for a little while know the truth, and know how much you have shared, both here and in other places.

Really, don't waste your time and effort being upset by people who go out of their way to insult you but don't have a shred of evidence to back their tenuous assertions up. Nobody here is fooled by them; we just don't want to feed the trolls because they just keep growing.

I've been enjoying MG's scores for this series very much. He's dialled back the histrionics and is supplying some great atmospheres and subtler themes. It's working really well for me and suits the new 'darker' tone. Thanks to CGCJ for his little gifts - stopgaps before the official releases. Much appreciated.

I was just thinking -- We had "The Three Doctors" but Wm. Hartnell didn't have much of a part because of his illness. We had "The Five Doctors" but Tom Baker -- was Tom Baker. We almost had "The Dark Dimension" but -- Tom baker again. We had "The Day of the Doctor" but no Christopher Eccleston. It would be nice if we could get a show with all of the new Doctors. We had the audio adventures, but they weren't "shows" they were "tells".

No, all of my series 8 rips are from 5.1 copies of the episodes, so no, they're definitely not clean. No series 8 tracks are clean, except the small selection Amanda posted. 'Wasteland Chase' is from the End of Time part 1, when the Doctor chases the Master through the wasteland and is then stopped by Wilf.

I may collect Desmond Leslie's music but I draw the line at actually listening to it! :D

Actually, I think some other kind soul pointed that out when I originally posted it. I'm not 100% convinced they're one and the same tracks though - the Space Museum track is definitely Desmond Leslie and is definitely the same "sample" that appears in The Stranger, but I've tried playing the two versions side by side and adjusting the speed up and down but I can't get them to match to an extent that would convince me (no, I don't get out much). Given that Leslie tended to recycle his sounds, my money's still on it being "Kaputt", as listed on the production paperwork. (For tedious reasons that bore even me, I think the other Leslie track listed, "Sting Tintabuloid", is probably the bell-like sting used in "Tomb".)

This is the first post I've made anywhere for weeks that hasn't included the word "Siday"... :)

Dragging this thread, yet again, back to 1965 and 1967, you'll be aware that these two Desmond 'Shriek' Leslie tracks are on a ten inch (phwoar!) LP called Death of Satan JW233, which I cannot find any rip from on this thing we call the internet. Find this, and we have hopefully finished Space Museum, although that last minute sound as we see Skaro is a puzzle. Find the album, and the last vesitiges of sanity may elude us.

Well I got the cheaper option, the kind that'll fit nicely amongst my CDs, it's really nice! It opens at the side and there's the booklet on top of 11 disc sleeves with photographs/artwork of each Doctor's era, it's really really nice, and the booklet is a collection of monsters over time, it's obscure to see the K1 Robot and a Voc Robot on the same image as a modern Sontaran, a Weeping Angel and such, and inside the booklet is THE most awesome Dalek picture with all of the different versions seen over the years, including the Special Weapons Dalek, I'm sure proud of this one :)

And of course! I intend to, only problem is there is absolutely no data on it so ripping it to FLAC in EAC will be a real toll on time, plus I plan to see some friends of mine today, but I'll upload them as soon as I can find the time

Yes, for me it was! There are so many tracks on this that I hadn't personally got, sure I've got the 4-disc 50th Anniversary Collection, but this is such an expansion, and I always love it when things I like have expansion, much more stuff to enjoy :) Like there are 71 Patrick Troughton tracks, and I'm looking forward to hearing the music on the Tom Baker CD, especially The Sun Makers! I'm just really thrilled! And I hope that I can share it with you that couldn't get a copy in time, so long as Mark Ayres doesn't hammer on my door demanding I return my soundtrack for sharing it on the Internet, I'll have to make it really obscure

The music has been superb so far, and listening to the full Doctor Who TV Movie soundtrack, I just know you all will love it. I ran into a few problems, I'm going by the booklet and I've found it a little tricky to keep everything labelled accurately. The previously unreleased TV Movie tracks aren't given a music writer, so I've just had to blag it and write "John Debney", sorry! Also some names were really long, I tried to keep them accurate, but some got the "file name's too long" problem, so I shortened the directories and they've fully operational again, just gotta be careful! Everything seems ok and in place for now. I'm hoping to get discs 10 and 11 done before midnight, then I'll be rar archiving them and putting them up for grabs!

@ audio experts out there,

Can I beg an off-topic favour? I've transferred this (non-DW) Trevor Duncan track from an old vinyl, but don't seem to be able to restore it. I've tried the basic stuff I usually use, hiss reduction and the like, but can't seem to do anything without ruining the sound. I'm afraid anything beyond the basics is...well... beyond me.

Unrestored Trevor Duncan file (https://www.sendspace.com/file/xs667z)

There seems to be a regular burst of static throughout which dimishes in volume as the track goes on, and the usual hiss and crackle issues.

Any of you fancy having a crack at it?

I second CGCJ, in the booklet there's an entire history by Mark Ayres dated October 2013, so they were putting the collection together for a very long time, the latest tracks on it are the iTunes exclusives for The Name of the Doctor. Also regarding the uploading of it, it's been a pain all day, I've finally got a chance to upload it in 6 parts, the whole package in FLAC comes to about 3.76 GB! So if I leave the laptop on overnight, it could be done by the time I get up to go to work. If not, hopefully after work. Regarding really old tracks though, I'm impressed with quite a few of them, some I've never even heard! I've never seen the old 60s reconstructions, but there's a piece from The Macra Terror labelled "The Macra Terror (Incidental music excerpt)" and it's by Dudley Simpson, I love this track for some reason, then again I like "Chromophone Band" too, The Macra Terror's got some nice tracks! I also came across for the first time, the broken TARDIS take off, the sound effect from Logopolis when Tom says "The TARDIS is a bit sluggish". I think it might be my new alarm tone! haha!

Either way, I'm still working on getting it to you guys, sorry it's taking a while, I'd hoped to have it done and dusted by now!

I'm curious which piece they used from Macra as the "incidental music excerpt"... I wonder if its what i was able to snatch off the reconstruction and use in my suite I already have mixed... if so... I'll be remixing "The Macra Terror"! lol

dragonOllie15, take your time with the upload! This is such a wonderful thing you're doing for us all. :)

so, dragonOllie 13, are all the names the same track names or do we have to edit them ourselves when we download the finished product you are obtaining for us? thanks for your hard work and effort and looking forward to the moment I can put this soundtrack on my Phone

I've taken the liberty of going through the enclosed booklet and naming all the tracks as they should be, they were all blank to start off with, but now they look much more proper. Luckily there was information on who composed it, all that stuff. So it's booklet-accurate, but I have my doubts of course, like they've labelled "Universe Sideral" from Tomb of the Cybermen as "Univers Sideral", I've kept it with the booklet spelling, they had delayed the soundtrack earlier in September due to a printing error, and I wonder if Univers went overlooked, you can rename tracks as appropriately as you like, I don't mind, but at the moment, they're "officially" accurate. The only problem was with the Eighth Doctor disc, the tracks that are previously unreleased have no information on who wrote those pieces, so I've just written John Debney in the artist sections, I've also written the Album Artists for each disc as "Various Artists", because that way it all fits neatly and orderly into iTunes with no fuss, the only problem I can think of is the lengthly title for Mindwarp, the booklet had spaces between the "/"s, so to stay faithful to it I had to write it like that. And you'd best have a lot of storage on your phone dude! Even in MP3 it's all 1.90 GB! And that's not including Mindwarp, because of the long name it gives my Foobar2000 trouble when converting it from FLAC. I'll be revisiting my personal rip and shortening unnecessary gaps, but it'll certainly be good to have :)

I always just say "Various" because I'm too lazy to type "Artists" afterwards... ;) I am so looking forward to this incredible upload! I'm like a kid at Christmas right now, as I'm sure many of us are. :)

Oh, this isn't the much sought after Quatermass and the Pit finale is it?

Indeed it is, and it's incredibly rare. Even the Beeb had trouble locating a copy for the DVD release IIRC.

All I have at home is a standard turntable from which I produced this recording (and certainly no "record washing" facilities!). If anyone has better facilities and is interested in offering them to recover this disc (a 78), I can arrange to travel to the London, North Essex, Cambridgeshire or South Suffolk areas if that's any good. PM me, though!

Don't you have WinRAR gwylock? If not, get all six parts and open them with it, it should open them all and you'll be able to put the whole album where you want
