It feels like there is more on the leak. Some track names, like Kill the Moon do not appear on here?

The tracks on the leak not on the CD are the ones Murray uploaded last year, so it's possible they were never going to be on the Series 8 Soundtrack for some reason.

The other tracks from Kill The Moon are from the first leak (Hello Earth, We Have A Terrible Decision To Make, They've Been Here The Whole Time, NASA Is That Way). The cues from the first leak are not included in the official album.

It would have to be the YouTube videos. Gold knew from the start that we copied those 7 tracks months ago. The complaints from BBC and Silva Screen resulted in Evo acting upon it.

Series 8 Official tracklist
DEEP BREATH
10. Missy’s Theme
DARK WATER / DEATH IN HEAVEN
19. The Song of Danny and Clara
When does "Missy's Theme" play in the Deep Breath? (I've listened to my rip and cannot hear it at any point) Also, I'd have placed "The Song of Danny and Clara" before "Forgetting" as that is the only time it is heard in full. Those are my only problems with the track listing.

Well, we still have the first set of tracks Murray uploaded so those can be considered bonus tracks... (If they aren't in any way on the soundtrack)

You're right, CGCJ, this tracks are in wrong place... Missy's Theme is the end track from The Caretaker and The Song Of Danny And Clara is from In The Forest Of The Night, before Forgetting.

I expect Missy's theme was supposed to play at the end of Deep Breath, before being replaced with whatever music plays in the episode. It being listed under Deep Breath probably represent's Murray's intentions for when it was supposed to play. Same for The Song of Danny and Clara.

Probably. He did that a lot for the Series 1 & 2 disc. It is all jumbled, but in the liner notes he explains all of it.

The War Machines
https://www.mediafire.com/?n1ww4ml6swaqw6l
- FLAC where available.
I've included couple of WOTAN-esque sound effects that I stumbled across, along with a radio interference sound that appears in virtually every old BBC drama (although not necessarily in The War Machines!)
There's also a unique looped version of Asyndeton from episode three, and the 8-minute track that Asyndeton was originally culled from. Yes, be excited.
I've been playing with mp3tag and it appears, rather in the manner of WOTAN, to have gone haywire - some tracks play with one embedded picture in VLC but a different one in VLC, even after I've deleted the one I didn't want to appear.
I have to confess I've not checked all the Inferno Nightclub tracks alongside episode one - I've just stuck them in the order they appear on the PasB.
Thank you for dragging this thread back to 1966. It's getting far too modern around here at the moment. They will be allowing ladies to wear trousers next.
What the bloody hell was Asyndeton all about? The man's bonkers.
I liked those stock sound effect tracks you found. The radio interference is very much a familiar sound, swear I heard it on The Sea Devils. The computer stuff sound very authentic. Where did they come from?
I found the FLAC tracks impossible to play on my old machine, even converting them is a pain. Any chance of some good old fashioned MP3's and a cane in the face for all those 'modernists'.

It's still a good release. Unlike Series 5-7, I wouldn't say there were any huge omissions that annoy me (Full version of IATD, "Or are you waking up?"/NOTD Cliffhanger for Series 5, Three Months Later and the full The Majestic Tale for Series 6 and Choral version of Pteryodactyls for Series 7). Perhaps more music will stand out as huge ommissions in time, but atm I'd say it's a more complete release than we're used to. It seems all the big tracks are on there anyway.

I'm disappointed that the Daleks Invade The Aristotle music & the Tardis regrows music from Flatline isn't on this CD! they were 2 amazing tracks and the Tardis regrows music was re-used many times in The Caretaker, Kill The Moon & Flatline. There's always iTunes for some bonus tracks but I doubt even that will happen.
Most of the tracks that I wanted to have released have been but there are still some that I'd have liked to have released:
Good Eyes (From 'Deep Breath')
Escaping the Antibodies (From 'Into the Dalek')
Rusty Repaired (From 'Into the Dalek')
The Daleks Invade the Aristotle (From 'Into the Dalek')
For I am Robin Hood! (From 'Robots of Sherwood')
Sherwood Forest (From 'Robots of Sherwood')
The Teller (From 'Time Heist')
Clara's Hectic Life (From 'The Caretaker')
Tiny TARDIS (From 'Flatline')
The Next Stage, 3D! (From 'Flatline')
School Flashbacks (From 'In the Forest of the Night')
Maebh Runs (From 'In the Forest of the Night')
Race to Save Maebh (From 'In the Forest of the Night')
Class Project: Save the Earth (From 'In the Forest of the Night')
I know most of those are variations of pieces we now have clean ('Robin of Sherwood' and the first track of 'The Caretaker (Suite)') but I do feel as those were some of the best tracks that have been omitted from the soundtrack.

The WOTAN-y tracks came from the CD version of this:

I think they must come from the same set of source recordings as the proper WOTAN ones - they sound so alike. And they're acoustic recordings, so presumably not RW creations... (The other "idling computers" track on the album is General Chellak's base from Androzani.)

I seriously doubt anything will happen. We've had those 6 tracks for ages now. He is well aware they were posted and of this place and did not seem to care. I doubt highly that we will ever see more leaks like this. I can see maybe sets like the Master Tapes winding down to us, but really I have not seen or heard of any more. But Gold will not post again. And the BEEB is highly sensitive to youtube. Possibly they will overlook us since the tube has a much higher profile and reach. I must admit, this track is really fun to edit. The part I extended though, is because the conclusion forces itself in without a bridge on the leak, making it sound off, whereas on the televised version it eases in. I couldn't recreate it with the leak, and never consulted the televised version, so I just looped the chorus and stitched its bridge to the conclusion. Love this version though. It just sounds right.

Yeah it is. The ending could use work, though. I like the televised version better, it's more heroic and less like the actual 'Majestic Tale'. I'll play around with it a bit...

Tracks 10-31 are also useless.
Tracks 32-42 are where it potentially gets interesting (although I don't recognise anything).
Tracks 43-46 were the last 4 tracks on Side One of the original vinyl - the WOTAN effects, a track from Androzani and Captain Zep's spaceship.
Track 47 was the start of Side Two, which was mostly longer musical or atmosphere pieces. Most (52 onwards) are by Dick Mills. "43" is a retitled track from the Soundhouse album (and might run longer, IIRC), and "JDC Background" (from "Duke Diamond, Radio 4 1973") I think was recycled as the giant robot malfunctioning, just after he's killed Kettlewell.

Gawd bless you, I have informed the War Lord.
Going through the tracks now so I'll keep adding here what I think. I think this album might be a gift for any Hitch-Hiker fans as I wouldn't surprise a lot of the whooshes and stuff came from either the TV or radio version.
Track 26 was used in Mawdryn Undead during Part One, where the Doctor et al are exploring the ship. About 13 minutes in.
Track 35 is familiar, very Invasion of Time meets The Five Doctors.
Track 36 is a collection of Robot K1 sounds, although not all of them, so we have a few sounds definitely from Robot here.
Track 40 could be from Season 14, especially The Deadly Assassin, very familiar but not exact sounds.
Track 42 I bet comes from the McCoy era. One of the rocket flights reminds me of one story but its on the tip of my tongue, can't grab it yet. Possibly Delta or Remembrance.
Track 45 You can just hear General Chellak speaking, can't you?
Track 52 is the Robot confusion piece, which in itself comes from the Exxillon City!

I would like to thank whomever posted the leak of S8. It's beautiful. Now, onto some unfortunate news. When I attempted to add the files to my iPod classic, it completely corrupted the database file and erased all 145 gigs of music. The music is there, but iTunes nor the actual iPod can see them. I have since erased the files from my computer incase there is something attached to them. If anyone has any solution as to how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you all.

chris666eden posted the music (cheers Chris!). By 145 gigs I assume you mean 145 mb... 145 gigs is a pretty big amount of music, especially if they're in mp3. Unless you mean your entire unreleased music library (mine is tipping over 200 gigs), which in that case, good luck.
I am no expert with iTunes, but all I can think of is the files being a wrong codec for iTunes maybe. iTunes only accepts .mp3, .ogg, .mp4, .wav, stuff like that. No FLAC or any weird formats. To be perfectly honest, iTunes is a bunch of crap offering music hugely overpriced anyway. I'd never trust their backup system!

I think Murray felt we had enough variations of the 12th theme on the album
(Plus the beach scene has the same music as at the start of the 12th suite/NASA is that way, doesn't it?)
It's not exactly the start of the beach scene. Chris is right, it is in Into the Dalek. So I'm thinking that cut might be mastered better in the actual track.

Except in Into The Dalek there's these brief trumpet blasts that play over the theme but they have been cut from the leaked track and the trumpets are not present in mummy on the orient express when it plays at the end. So this leak track is presented as it sounds in mummy but it's originally from Into The Dalek. I don't like the brief trumpet blasts. They sound off key and awfully placed over the theme.

I just hope it's kept on the OST. I especially like the end part of that track as it restates the small motif heard after the first fanfare in Pudding Brains (from 00:40 - 01:00), these three thoughtful ascending chords.

Even though it is only 3-4 seconds shorter? If you really want to include it, it would go between 'Blue Rescue One' and 'What Difference is a Good Dalek?' for the scene when it is first heard, when Gretchen is killed by Dalek antibodies and ends up in 'Heaven'.

Mr. Blorx, my iPod Classic holds 160gigs. It was almost filled up. I own that much music. This is very interesting to listen too. He says we are a big part of how his music is released and how its compiled. I love how he knows exactly how we extract his music from the episodes. Never says he doesn't like it or we should stop doing unreleased music.
Interestingly, he says he wishes he could post the WHOLE Into The Dalek score so fans just have it! Shame our chance for that has been ruined by me technically. Sorry guys.

That would be great to have a whole episode score of his! Yeah but one thing lead to another really. I posted the Album leak on here freely. It got taken and then spread onto YouTube, BBC took notice and traced it back to me i guess and then sent complaint forms to me and Evo resulting in all TV Composers samples on the site being removed and the Album link suspended. I know there's probably followers on here from YouTube who regularly check for new Murray Gold content to post on YouTube but there's nothing to stop them or complain about when Murray Gold expresses his interest in Unreleased Music etc

Yeah but he is going to be very cautious about where it goes and what happens to it now.
To be honest, the BBC is to blame here. They got Evo to remove all his music. Why? Because to me theres a pattern that BBC don't like stuff being released or at least readily available online. Example is Strings and Tins Doctor Who theme. They want to release it. BBC Refused them to do so. Murray Gold once said he would be happy to post his entire Doctor Who Collection on iTunes for the fans but BBC refused him from doing so. The BBC don't want to part with stuff they own. Series 7B and Day Of The Doctor themes copyright lies with Warner Chappell and BBC and both refuse to give silva the licence required to release them.

Why though? It is just losing them the revenue they could be gaining from such releases that they are stopping... (I really don't understand why they're doing so.)

I was looking at an old article about Dr Who related music in Record Collector. I recognise most of the releases it documents but have never comes across an EP that is apparently called "Joe 90 and Doctor Who Themes", comes in a picture sleeve and was released in New Zealand in the late 1960s by Music World (catalogue number SBO 34). Has anyone here ever heard it?

This isn't a complete re-up of the file I uploaded earlier - just the bits that were FLAC-only, now converted to mp3.
There are loads of bits in the original folder that are mp3 anyway - I've not included these to save space. So if you're mp3-hungry, you'll still need both uploads.

This is blown all out of proportion, at least for us. Evo was a source we have been on the verge of losing for a year or more. It is always a grab what you can when you can sitch in things like this. Gold has only been there for a little less than a year. Objectively we have lost nothing from him, as we still have those 7 tracks not on the official cd. None of the other tracks from past series that were put up gave any indication of being unreleased, so there is no rel reason to believe that would change. As for the rest of the site's content, for my part, I still have hundreds of sets from there to edit. I have spent most of my time grabbing while it is there. As I said a source warned me over a year ago the site was considering options to block the ripping of those tracks so for me it has been a race against time for a while and by no means a stable resource.

Hey, we're all nerdy guys here! (Apart from Amanda, who I suspect might be a woman.)
You found something rare and, as a fan, you got excited and wanted to share it with other fans. It's a lovely attitude to have, and what this place is all about. (Slight cock-up on the "foreseeing consequences" front, but, at the end of the day (horrible phrase), you were only being nice.)
You also had the balls to come here, identify yourself, 'fess up and apologise - which, on this old, anonymous thing we call the internet, you had no need to do at all. Bless you for that.
And you weren't the only one to upload it to YouTube, so your doing so makes no difference whatsoever anyway.

You could do Doctor-era, with spoilers to save scrolling. This MIGHT be asking more, but there could also be a "last edited/modified" date after each link/episode, to know that something has been updated, or that new and cleaner tracks have been added.

That sounds good. If anything is updated, I could add a message stating that something has been updated with the date for when the update was posted.

Thanks for all the info about the Series 8 soundtrack guys! I can't wait to listen. Good to hear Murray likes the unreleased tracks. Sorry to go off track a tiny bit but I can't send PMs, any idea why?

I just tried sending one but nothing appeared on the "sent" folder. Not sure if I should send again (dunno if it would make it a double message)

Minty, you do not have enough posts to activate your pm system. You need between 3 to 5 pots or so, and little time for your profile to reset. Until then, we cannot pm you either.

Ahhh OK, thanks Amanda. In that case I should probably get more involved in the conversation. I've been a bit of a stalker of the forum just enjoying the unreleased music people have been putting up. I have some covers I've made for the soundtrack that I might post up soon. Really like the ones I've seen on here! One is my avatar.

Made some alternative covers which I've put on deviant art
TheFullMinty (Jamie) - DeviantArt (

I really wanted individual covers for all of Series 7 after the 5 we got packed with the CD. Just seen that Mortadelo did the same recently and his are way better. But I also used the Series 1-7 Blu-Ray covers to make soundtrack covers. Some came out nice, some needed some improvement!
Almost done collecting links for the index post, just need to upload a few things for which the original links are either dead or were posted packaged with other music. (I think it best that stories have their own individual downloads)

And apologies if my post appeared to be a dig in any particular direction ;). But, God knows, the internet is so full of pointless anger fired in the direction of Things That Don't Matter, we don't need to add to it! (and I've followed the Omnirumour on Planet Mondas, day in, day out, since 2013, so I know what I'm talking about!)
Oh good grief, you must be needing a good cup of tea. I've only heard about that thread and how they treat a particular journalist from Starburst who likes his common sense (northerner, I believe).

The best and only way to enjoy that, without the vocals!

I'm glad they have included the instrumental version then. Its a nice compromise and I quite like the tune without vocals anyway.

Now I find myself hoping my friendly complaint e-mail I sent to Silva Screen will have helped get the vocals on "Every Christmas is Last Christmas." Oh please. Otherwise maybe someone here can edit the album version with the version from YouTube? really besides the "Wakey wakey" the version on YouTube is extremely clear during the vocal parts which only last the final minute of the song anyway.

This is my attempt at it. It is by no means perfect and I am sure other people one here could do a better job but here it is.

I made an attempt for Every Christmas Is Last Christmas a couple of days ago. I'm not entirely sure about the timing of the singing, but it's at least a bit better than the ripped version quality-wise.

Thanks but the parts with the actual singing seem overly loud/distorted to me... (Did you use the isolated singing or just the ripped track on those parts?)

Isolated singing. And it might really be both distorted and loud, I'm hardly an expert at this. I mainly used it as a personal placeholder in the wait of someone with some actual experience.

I never realised the music in Last Christmas was so good. I haven't watched it too many times, I like saving my favourite episodes.
Why would they release the track without vocals? Is it a money thing?

Don't think they have uploaded a Digital Download page yet with previews. Got a feeling that'll pop up Monday at 00:00. Same with iTunes

Finally, a better quality version than the one we had. Now all that's left is the offical clean tracks, and I'll get back to reediting this specific one again.

Fantastic work - well done!
EDIT:
Thanks for all the nice credits, but Edge of Destruction isn't one of mine (More than happy to bask in the glory though!) I'll be unleashing a version any day now, but I think the old one might have been by recons. Not sure though.
(Just battling to combine the "nice-but-missing-frequencies" version of Conflict 2 with any one of three "complete-frequencies-but-awful-quality" versions. None of the sods will stay in sync!)
LATER EDIT:
Edge of Destruction *is* one of mine now. Confused yet?

Good compilation.
Marco Polo, The Celestial Toymaker and The Savages are certainly my edits. Rather pleased with them, which means they're terrible! I'm sure I posted them up on here. I edited the waltz and posted it seperately, as you noted, simply to show off how clever I am! Well actually as an example of how you can stitch bits of tunes together to get a complete version.
I'd wager a lot of the TV Rips came from Choking horror's You Tube channel although I'm sure there must be those done by other people. These sort of edit rips are irresistable and not terribly difficult to achieve. I never put my own edits through any sound treatments to try and remove extraneous sound because that sometimes sounds worse than the original ambiance, I'm afraid.
The Aztecs, The Sensorites, Planet of Giants, The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Romans, The Crusades are certainly his (Choking Horror). Some of these sound pre-DVD and he was active around 2008 or 9.
I did a new Sensorites and Planet of Giants for my own amusement recently. Might have posted it here. I tried to combine the various cues that are used repeatedly throughout the programme but alas so few where everyone keeps their traps shut, so the results are variable. Also did a newish Reign of Terror.
If anyone wants to hear those three rips, just slam a tray to the side of your head to the tune of Wagon Train and I'll see what I can do in between spells in the garden.

Lend me you ears!
This is the gong from the end of Edge of Destruction:
https://www.mediafire.com/?xdw0ef1zzf3u335
Do you think it's Tristam Cary's gong from Marco Polo wheeled out a week early or yet a-sodding-nother thing which our lives won't be complete until we find?
---------- Post added at 08:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:03 AM ----------
Oh good grief, you must be needing a good cup of tea. I've only heard about that thread and how they treat a particular journalist from Starburst who likes his common sense (northerner, I believe).
It's been utterly hellish for months. (Well, years, if I'm honest.) The omni-prophets have been run out of town and it now largely consists of people arguing with a man who pretends to be German while libelling Philip Morris on a daily basis.
I found it great fun when it was the main conduit for Rigelsford's latest inventions, however.
And you've reminded me! I cobbled this together to celebrate Web of Fear Day:
Song For Phillip Morris (

Ian Levine is yet to comment.

Rigelsford, groan. Has he emerged from underneath a rock again? I have no time for that man.
You know, I've no idea about that gong. Had it been Cary, he would have been paid for its use and it should have been on the PASB (like it wasn't on The Moonbase), and since they were trying not to spend money on anything other than the coffee for Serial C, I would be amazed if they lashed out a lot of money for a split second. One of the purposes of the PASBs is to see who got paid for what.
Do you think it's another ear grinder from everybody favourite's puncher, Desmond Leslie? Have you compared the gongs used in Marco Polo to this one?
It's like the drum/roll cymbals which start The War Machines. There is this track from CMM217 which features the work of the same guy who did the dance tracks used in Inferno club. The beginning is a tad similar. Just a tad. But, you know...

(18:05-18:55) We Don't Know What's Real (Beginning Dialed Out)
(20:00-21:50) Facehuggers (Sounds similar to the ending of 'Thinking About it')
(22:35-23:15) Thinking About it (Ending is Cut Off as the next scene and Track starts to soon)
(23:15-27:15) Clara's Dream Christmas (Ending has the Volume lowered)

same thing happened with the Godzilla 2014 OST and Star Trek 2009 expended score
certain choirs demand royalties and such I guess
I wish Murray had a twitter so we could lovingly suggest that he clear this stuff prior to recording it from now on :)
Also, THANK YOU to NoceAlVento, Hamilton10000, and LGDCFan for responding so quickly to my request :D

Nope, the TV rip is all we have, along with Mark Ayres's reconstruction of the UNIT theme from the story.

Regarding the missing vocals in 'Every Christmas Is Last Christmas' I don't think its down to the vocalists wanting Royalties from it because whoever's voice it is, its present in 'What Seems To Be The Problem?' and 'The Doctor's Dream Christmas' so the removal of her vocals from 'Every Christmas' is intentional it would seem.
We are getting an extensive booklet of notes from Murray himself. Perhaps he will explain the reason for its removal.
Also the vocals are distorted because for some reason the volume of which they were added in the 5.1 dub Is too loud. And trying to add the vocals back in is difficult because you can't get a balance where you can hear the music and the vocals. Either the music drowns out the vocals or the Vocals are too loud to hear the music. Murray could have thought forget it and removed the vocals. Which, given the explanation here, makes sense.
---------- Post added at 01:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 PM ----------
In 'Not Knowing' (From Flatline) between 0:50 - 1:02, That's the music when Rusty is gliding along in slow motion and killing all the soldiers in 'Into The Dalek'. Shame its not the full version from the episode with the choir.

The "crash" at the end sounds very close. I've lined them up in Audacity and with some EQ'ing they match almost perfectly, except for the second drumroll starting too early for them to be from the same recording. I'd say we're looking for another track recorded during the same session as this one.

Yeah, Rigelsford was IDd as a prominent link in the information chain a while ago. (And by information I mean bare-faced toss, of course.) I remain an omnioptimist though - its much more fun that way!
The bloody gong As you say, if it was Cary it should be on the PasB. But as you also say, it could be the production office setting a precedent for The Moonbase (which would be slightly funny. Poor Tristram.) Of course, there are several other things that should be on the PasB that aren't - the scanner "planet sequence" music for one (missing from the paperwork for both eps - grrr), and an echoey piano trill which I suspect might be Desmond Leslie. I had a very quick gong-comparison earlier and, well, they could be the same, but to my untrained, gong-ignorant ears, one of the blighters is going to sound very much like another.
I think the likelihood is that theyd have just grabbed a BBC gong from the grams library as you say, money will have been the primary consideration, and assuming they werent ripping off Tristram Cary, theyd have gone in-house rather than paying for (or forgetting to pay for) a library track. Why buy a gong or steal a gong when you already have a gong? (as my old gran used to say).
Good news though I have a BBC gong! Its on, somewhat surprisingly, a BBC sound effects record. Its next on my rip-list. Im a bit excited about it now.
CMM217? Whats this? I know where I am with my IAs, my JWs and my LPCs, but CMM? Chap has a comfort zone, you know!
But yeees the cymbals spot on, innit? Drum roll hopeless, but you cant have it all. Actually, Id put good money on the original also being from a BBC library disc (as alleged by that PDF we were nattering about a while back). Again, why pay for something when theres a free version sitting on the shelves? (And with such a basic sound effect with great "usability", I'd imagine this was a cert.)
In other Edge of Destruction news a proper full frequency version of Conflict 2 is more or less good-to-go. Im gonna re-do a couple of other Sidays (once Ive worked out how to wire a 78 sylus to a tone arm.) Then Ill round off with a few minutes' quality gong-time, upload the bloody thing and never listen to it again!

1. The Strumming Of An Elderly Gentleman In A State Of Refined Intoxication (aka The Merry Old Gentleman's Song - as listed on the PasB)
2. Waves Washing The Beach (not listed on the PasB but included for good measure)
3. Entering The Palace (aka At The Palace Gates)
All tracks by Louis Chen.
I haven't tried to match them up to the actual episodes, so I'm not sure exactly how much they are used!

It was used in The Last of the Time Lords (series 3 episode 13), but it was the actual song that played, not an instrumental version.

The "crash" at the end sounds very close. I've lined them up in Audacity and with some EQ'ing they match almost perfectly, except for the second drumroll starting too early for them to be from the same recording. I'd say we're looking for another track recorded during the same session as this one.
Yes they do, don't they. Do all cymbals sound alike!

As for Funky:
CMM is Chappell Mood Music. The drum roll and cymbal may well be a BBC stock disc. Look forward to the Gong show, whatever it may be.
I suspect the Scanner music from Edge of Destruction is a Siday. I am reading between the lines but I get the impression you have been buying up all of his old discs. Have you got all of the ones used on Dr. Who? If so you can disprove my theory.

Right, finally finished the bloody thing. The most exciting bits are three Siday tracks with the full frequency range restored. The upper frequencies for all of them came from the mp3s on that German library music site, while the lower frequencies came from a variety of sources: for Anaesthesia they were taken from an original 78; for Conflict No. 2 they came from a version that turned up on YouTube, and for Mood Three they were simply nabbed from the episode.
I've included an "opening sequence" which combines the first three tracks into one piece. As far as I remember, on the original unrestored version of episode 1 the cut between the reprise (Tardis takeoff / explosion) and the opening shots of everyone lying unconscious was awfully abrupt and glitchy, and this was smoothed out by Mark Ayres for the DVD release. I was intending to check this out on my BSB copy, but one of my cats had been sick on it (I assume he was aiming for the Richard Martin episode). Anyway, I've remade it along similar lines to Mr Ayres - everything's still perfectly in sync with the actual episode, but I've smoothed the transition between exploding Tardis and Siday's Mood Three. It's not authentic, but the original was horrible and in these post-Restoration Team days we're supposed to forgive tinkering!
For several tracks where I've remade something I've included a rip of the original version too (just delete these - I only stuck 'em in so you lot could compare and contrast...)
For once I'm going to respectfully disagree with gnawingagony - I don't think the scanner / planet music is Siday: it's far more Orchestral than Electronique. My guess is it will have been a recent (i.e. early 60s) recording, probably called something trite like "Panoramic Vistas" and most likely on the Conroy, Impress or JW labels. (If it was Chappell someone would probably have already found it - 'cos they're dead common, like.)
@gnawingagony: the piano trill is track 8! I'm guessing it's Desmond Leslie (he was forever doing horrible things to pianos) but as ever I'd welcome your thoughts...
Track 10 (and 12). I've called these 'Faceless Ones 1 & 2'. My current thinking is that the Faceless Ones atmospheres were from stock - these sound dead similar (although I've not actually checked them against the Troughton story 'cos I want to go to bed.) Your opinions are invited!
The Gong! - It's really very close to Tristram Cary's Marco Polo gong. I'm not brave enough to nail my colours to the mast just yet though...
BONUS TRACKS
The Stranger - from Desmond Leslie's first (and self-published) contribution to the world of Musique Concrete. A large chunk of it became "The Day The Sky Fell In" for the Josef Weinberger library (the version used in "Edge of Destruction"). The final few seconds (or something very like them) also appear at the end of Part 3 of The Space Museum. (Thank you, Mr agony!)
The Wrong Gong - clearly nothing like the correct gong. I'd wager it was the source for part of the Blake's 7 teleport sound though!
EDIT:
Bugger, I always forget something - thanks to Mortadelo for the lovely cover art!

Well, that's not really the point, is it? It doesn't matter how easy it is to fix, it's still a glaring error that you'd think would be impossible to miss.
Unless it was an artistic decision, in which case that'll be an interesting thing to explain in the liner notes.

I am reading between the lines but I get the impression you have been buying up all of his old discs. Have you got all of the ones used on Dr. Who? If so you can disprove my theory.
I'm trying to buy the Impress ones when they aren't on sale for a king's ransom. Got two of the four so far: Hypnosis/Anaesthesia/Reflections/Sabre Dance and, more recently, Threat Attack/Communications 2/Night Tide. I was waiting until my new improved 78 turntable was up and running before playing the latter disc, but I did have a listen to a few seconds of Night Tide on my old setup, just in case it was that thing from The Moonbase. It wasn't. Only heard a tiny extract but it seemed to be a pleasant melodic thing in the style of Reflections. (Of course, being Siday it might have transformed into something else seconds later.)
I was hoping to get it copied yesterday, but fixing a 78 cartridge to a tone arm apparently requires specialist miniature tools, an electron microscope and a troop of elves. I'm going to have to take it into a shop and look like an idiot.
By the way, it can't have escaped your attention that the hot topic on everyone's lips is which way to vote. Well, things are certainly hotting up - I have just received a PM saying, "Yes, it's Cary's Gong"!
The ballot is still open, people.

I Listened to the episode version of The Golden Arrow and noticed its not the same as the Soundtrack version. Theres an additional extra bit at the beginning and throughout the track up until 12's motif is heard theres additional strings looped over. But all this has been removed on the Album version. Strange. There seems to be a lot of cut backs on these tracks. Forgetting is a big one. What plays in In The Forest Of The Night is the reuse of the expanded Robot Of Sherwood version, not what's presented on the Album.

By the way, The Faceless Ones bits from Edge, do sound like the Chameleon "RAY GUN"!!! and some of the stings used in the story. Love to think it is stock but those bits may well be Hodgson. He did provide the sleepy TARDIS sound so may well have provided this. I've seen cases where he is asked to provide a last minute sound effect months after he has provided the rest.
It does seem to be a mystery who did the Chameleon theme now. Once it was seen to be a Hodgson budget pleasing piece. He did so few sounds for that story. Frankly, you can't use it on five episodes without coughing up for it, and that has to show somewhere in the accounts.

I knew it would happen, but I'm mad that it's now official that there are no vocals in Every Christmas is Last Christmas. I really wish someone could ask Murray why this has happened and try to get it fixed. I mean with Interstellar fans managed to get Hans to release "No Time For Caution" after the album was already out...
The version posted here by LGDCFan was actually almost perfect for me... but from 1:53 - 2:09 it was missing an important bit with horns and vocals that played IMMEDIATELY after the "wakey wakey!" part. I'm going to try and add it in myself crudely :)
Also sad about the Forgetting issue - that song was another on top of my want list after first hearing it in "Robot of Sherwood." Please stop releasing songs that aren't the versions we fell in love with :( Between Time of the Doctor OST and this I'm actually growing disappointed. Another example - Idiot in A Box starts off so strongly whereas in the show there was a beautiful build before the percussion came in!

Well this is a problem with many scores, there exist film mixes, some of which are created by editing, sometimes not by the composer. Although the fans clamoring for No Time For Caution did get Zimmer's attention (through someone who could actually contact him or someone he knows) It still wasn't the version heard in the film.
Then there is the absolute sheer volume of music that can never fit on the final product for commercial release. Gold once said that Human Nature and The Family of Blood could have filled two cd's (I think this was stated in the liner notes for season 3) The thing which dearly pisses me off is when the unreleased music appears in video games when the developers have access to the library of music Gold has somewhere.
What really needs to happen is either a leak from Gold himself or an official 'Archive' boxset featuring a disc of music not included for each season. Even then it would mean leaving things out. However, an optimistic thought is the number of discs being increased by Silva each season. Hopefully we might one day reach four, five or six discs of music.

Delighted though I was, the radio interference in question wasn't the one I was looking for. I was after the proper 60s Dr Who radio interference! You know, that one that's used in everything!
And........
I've found it! Here it is, along with even more SFX tracks of interference, static and other electrical shenanigans (a couple more of which also sound familiar...)
I'm not telling you which one it is though, so you'll have to wade through the lot! :p
And a guinea to anyone who knows what a creed machine is. (Once I've Googled how much a guinea is worth.)
*** I typed the previous words while I was still transferring the last few tracks, and it's now clear that I really wasn't excited enough. Because, I can now announce:
There's a bloody genuine WOTAN effect in there too!!!

I managed to grab a seat in F5. What does VIP include though?
A shirt and a bunch of rather boring and generic VIP stuff. I don't get to meet anyone *super sad face*
But hey, the music will make up for my $300 ticket! See you there, man!

Ahhh I see. At first I was gonna be in F2 but the conversion from American Dollars to Canadian Dollars is quite different these days and I can't exceed a certain amount these days so I had to find a cheaper place. I still have to find an hotel in the surroundings though. I really can't wait!

That's terrible! Stupid conversion rates. The hotel thing will be rough as that is probably another $300 down the drain...
Maybe I could pawn my VIP stuff and grab some cash?

Lovely stuff! I've got me a new ringtone.
There's also sound effects from The Ambassadors of Death (09). In fact, one of the longer ones is used as well.
Static 2 is awfully familiar too. Just about every interference on a radio link going but especially The Web Planet 2.
Where are you digging up these gems?

I personally greatly appreciate these sound effects uploads, as I've got an upcoming project that will involve recreating as closely as possible the feel of a lost story from the 60s. Some of these bits will definitely be invaluable!

I recently contacted Silva Screen via email, regarding the Facebook unreleased album fanpage. I got a reply today:
"Hello Elliott, thanks for your email. We are restricted in what we can release by what is made available to us to license. We are aware of the fanpage though and it is helpful to know the demand is there, however, whether we will be able to release more music from the first seven series I can't currently tell you"

Fascinating... so I suppose that means either that there are plans for that sort of thing to happen, or negotiations happening towards it? Unless they're teasing pointlessly.

Well, at the end of March, Silva Screen privately announced to the head of the fanpage that the idea had been taken through to the label manager, for consideration with the BBC, so it seems that the Beebs have some power over what goes on the CDs.

I also got a message regarding unreleased music today?
A sign from the gods.
It said that they are currently having issues with licensing music from the BBC. They also had interest in me, as a person. Dunno what that's about.

Glad some of you are enjoying those sounds! Reading back on my post, that “There's a bloody genuine WOTAN effect!!!” was a genuine shriek of excitement. I’m glad other people get excited about these things too! I know I'll not be able to watch a b/w story now without focusing on the radio static sounds.
They’re old in-house BBC library discs. I imagine the original recordings would have been on 78s, these were 7” / 33rpm discs which I think may date from the 70s. Not totally sure about that bit though. I’m totally guessing but I suspect they may have rescued from a skip outside Television Centre at some point.
You can’t imagine how hesitant I was about splashing out on the first one. No sound samples to go on, just the titles. But “Radio interference” caught my eye and I thought it might be nice as a one-off artefact even if it was useless, but bingo – Sea Devils, WOTAN and Ambassadors all on one little disc! (By the way, that disc (3C 66G) notes that the tracks were recorded between 1945 – 1957.) I’ve got another one from the same sequence in the post, hopefully containing a few more WOTAN / A For Andromeda sounds…

I knew beforehand. The same sound was used in the movie 'Alien' and I researched it a long, long time ago. Kind of a sound effect nerd :P
You can keep the guinea :P
Oh, and I made a loop of a song featured in 'The Last of the Timelords'. I think it's a sweet song and deserved a full release in the soundtrack blah blah, so here it is.

FINALLY, someone else shares my disappointment. My enjoyment of any show/movie revolves on the music provided for it. If music is good, I look at story. If story is good, I watch. The only caveat is that I must have the music that is actually used in the broadcast version. That's also pretty much the story of how I ended up here.

Agreed. I'm actually pissed off more as time goes on about the ridiculous alteration of that song in conjunction with the lack of vocals in ECILC. I looked forward to Majestic Tale and they took away the beautiful build by forcing the percussion in, LOUDLY, from the beginning of the song. :( Like you, I need the broadcast version. There are rips of this song on youtube but it has more sfx than some of the others.

I did a mixup of the TV version of that song and the release a while ago, here (

But yes, I do share the same problem as the rest of you. Loud drums and bass sounds don't always mean a more epic song. The buildup really makes it, and the release pretty much ruined it.

Then you might be just what I need! Any idea about any of the effects in this:
WOTAN Medley! (
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/f9d6tpi8ofi7qvw/WOTAN+Medley!.mp3)
I think they'll all be c.1950s. One of them's in Quatermass II and that's 1955. (Ok, there's a brief burst of a fire extinguisher - I know that one - another (at 33") is a Morse code "Double current cable code audio signal".)
Anyone else fancy some wild guesswork?

My Static & Interference file has had 26 downloads! You're all mad!
Here's an officially-released-to-the-public one: BBC Sound Effects No. 13 - Death & Horror:
BBC Death & Horror 1 (
http://www.mediafire.com/download/jaczf2ixmdh26ds/BBC+Death+%26+Horror+1.zip)
A few of these tracks may have been specially created for the album release, but most are definitely from pre-existing BBC library recordings - you've got some BBC wind and thunder effects which are extremely familiar. "Wolf Howling" is the official BBC wolf - I've not compared him directly to the episodes, but I'm pretty certain he appears in Time Meddler, Ice Warriors and probably Marinus. "Dr Jekyll's lab" is a wonderful radiophonic creation - don't recognise it at all but I get the feeling someone else here might!

I don't understand why they don't put as-broadcast music in. It's a tiny thing, but I really think the music at the end of The Bells of St John, with it's guitar opening, is over-dubbed with more orchestra. It changes the whole feel of the track, with only about two seconds difference!

No, don't recognise it, but you are bang on with the wolves.
You may also like to recognise Weird Wind as virtually the soundtrack to The Abominable Snowmen and Colony In Space, although I fancy we don't get to hear the full length of the original.
Church bell tolling is The Ultimate Foe part 2.
The Alien Swamp is also recognisable. You may remember the squeaky cacophony of the Nestene in Spearhead From Space, which was first heard in The Power of the Daleks, and BBC Radio's The Slide, before that. It's been used in other stories, especially The Power of Kroll. Well, alien swamp reminds me of the latter where it is used as the build up before the attack on Harg at the end of Part 2. It does sound as if they've taken out the top notes, whatever that's called.
I can't say about the thunder although give me time, ammunition and some good men I'm sure I can capture the ridge before dawn.

I recognise stuff.
Loving your work, as ever!
Really must listen to The Slide. Had a copy for years and never quite got round to it.
“Death and Horror” must have been a bit of surprise hit for the Beeb – they went on to issue two further volumes with the same theme. They were fairly rubbish though and it was clear they’d already milked the library dry: mostly newly-recorded effects (stabbing cabbages and claiming they were heads) and suites that tried to “upgrade” boring old library cues into exciting new ones: “Town crier on layby of M25 in June gets hit by a Renault 50 driven by a gibbon. Head explodes. Sounds like a cabbage.”
There’s another lovely radiophonic cue though, called something like “Torture Lab 2150 A.D.”, along with the BBC triffids. Internet’s playing up tonight but I’ll pop them up when I get the chance.

Also, should have a few more of those radio/electronics/noise discs on the way shortly. I am particularly excited by the sound of "Electrical radiation", "Geiger effects" (Ambassadors, surely), and, best of all, three tracks called "Electronic Monotony"! (Otherwise known as electronicmonotony, gnawingagony's long-lost evil twin.)
Oh, and there's some more interference too.

Nailed it. That ALSO bothered me.
Anyway, here's my poor edit of the LGDCFan version of Every Christmas is Last Christmas - this time including the 10 second part from 1:53 that has trumpets and the proper 1 second pause at 3:13 that takes place right he says "Merry Christmas, Clara Oswald" and during her cute little giggle. After which they run out to the TARDIS.
In spite of the minor sound effects I prefer it this way.
