Can anyone tell me if there is in fact a total of 4 parts of Wilfried Josephs' Space Time Music and 7 parts of Elrich Sendel's Astronautics Theme?

Yes and yes!

Space Time Music Part 1 - Tomb of the Cybermen (played slow - i.e. a 78 record played at 45, as in the version I posted above)
Space Time Music Part 2 - Web of Fear
Space Time Music Part 3 - Web of Fear
Space Time Music Part 4 - not in Dr Who

The first part of Astronautics is the longest of the 7 and appears on its own on the Space Adventures CD as "Astronautics Suite". However, when all seven parts were included on the Tomb CD, they were listed as "Astronautics Theme Parts 1-7" - and to add to the confusion, despite the inlay listing it as one track, the actual CD had it broken up into two halves (Parts 1-3 then Parts 4-7).

Astronautics Suite / Part 1 - Tomb and Space Museum
Astronautics 2 - Tomb
Astronautics 3 - Space Museum
Astronautics 4-7 - Not in Dr Who

Hope that helps! :)

The 'official' Tomb of the Cybermen notoriously makes things more confusing as far as Space Time Music is concerned. It lists eleven tracks on the back cover, but actually has twelve tracks on the CD. Track 9 is tagged as Space Time Music part 1. Track 10 is tagged as Space Time Music parts 2-4. However, an inspection of the track shows that there are four discrete parts to this latter track, suggesting that this is Space Time Music parts two to FIVE.

I've only ever had these tracks on CD. Can anyone clarify how many parts there are to Space Time Music from the original vinyl? If there are only four, can anyone identify what the extra track is?

Out of interest, has anyone with the know-how considered trying to remaster the original Torchwood soundtrack release? The disc as it stands sounds, quite frankly, terrible. A lot of the tracks are blown out with distortion (Sleepers Awake is a particularly bad example of this) and I'm curious to know if anyone out there can work a little magic on it, as I'm sure an officially remastered version is never going to happen.

It's a shame, too. The music in the first two years of Torchwood is quite good, but the soundtrack CD sounds just awful. It's a great example of mastering gone amok.

Is anyone able to rip the missing tracks from TOMB so that we know what they sound like?

Funny you should say that:

LINK TO FOLLOW...

1. Galaxy – Eric Siday
2. Descending Tones (normal / slow) [Eps 2,4]
3. Galaxy + additional rhythm (possibly radiophonic) [Ep 2]
4. Rising Tones [Eps 2,4]
5. Cybercontroller grabs Kleig [Eps 2,3]
6. Sound FX – Cyber-Tomb (presumably radiophonic)
7. Sting 1 + variants (possibly Desmond Leslie)
8. Sting 2 (from Astronautics Pt.1 with radiophonic effects) + variants
9. Sting 3 – ‘’You shall be like us’’ – 2 slight variants
10. Sting 4 – Space Adventures Pt 2 (with radiophonic effects)
11. Sting 5 – Space Adventures Pt 3 + variants (actually, these are possibly all identical with no radiophonic effects at all!)

EDIT - should be quite clear that these are episode rips before anyone gets too excited...

This is the soundtrack for the Edge of Destruction which is missing at least one piece, notably the music that plays when the Doctor and his companions gaze up into the scanner and see a planet in a solar system which then fades to white.

Link: The Edge of Destruction Soundtrack (http://www.mediafire.com/download/akmp73jr7ux709p/EdgeSoundtrack.zip)

Track List:

01 Doctor Who (Opening Theme)
02 Mood Three
03 Unidentified Track
04 Anesthesia
05 Conflict 2
06 Musique Concrete II
07 Doctor Who (Closing Theme)
08 TARDIS Takeoff
09 Explosion -- TARDIS Stops
10 TARDIS Computer
11 TARDIS Interior
& The Day The Sky Fell In

The "Unidentified Track" I am unsure of the title and the composer but I do know that it was more extensively used in the Space Museum at a lower pitch. Also, "The Day The Sky Fell In" is listed as having been used in this serial but I do not recall hearing it. I included it here anyway though.

Thanks for providing that document but I'm afraid that it does not identify it. Those three Eric Siday pieces for the first episode are listed unspecifically as "Musique Electronique". The soundtrack I uploaded contains three Eric Siday pieces. "Mood Three", "Anesthesia" and "Conflict 2". I think that those are the pieces that are unspecifically listed in that document so I am not sure about the unidentified track although I suppose it is possible that it is also by Eric Siday.

OK, I've had a listen. The unidentified track is indeed by Eric Siday, named Space Agitato.

An enjoyable release, Kaejaris. It's interesting how these tracks sometimes sound different to their original album versions. Mood Three is definitely higher in tone here than it is on my 78. Some of the tracks in The Tomb of the Cybermen had been altered electronically for the production, as well as changes in speed for some of the tracks.

Here's a collection of The Timeddler bits and pieces in one lump; some from the dvd, some ripped from the episode itself, one from a CD, but nothing new, alas. This used to be up on You Tube when someone called Choking Horror used to post up lots and lots of his own music edits from the episodes themselves up to The Horns of Nimon. Some, if not all, are still doing the rounds. That channel got culled in 2009 or so.

I would've said "no chance" but after seeing McGann turn up... anything is possible.

McGann is very Pro-WHO... Eccleston... not so much.

I am so thrilled we got a little McGann on-screen finally.

I would've said "no chance" but after seeing McGann turn up... anything is possible.

I saw some interviews where C.Eccleston said he had no desire to do Dr. Who again, and Paul McCann said "Sure!" he would. So I'm not surprised about his appearance. I only hope it continues!

Slightly updated versions of 2 classic DW scores:

The Five Doctors - both the televised and extended scores (the latter, thanks to Gwylock 1, now has an isolated first cue).

The Two Doctors - mixed and unmixed versions, the unmixed disc now has track divides between opening/closing themes and incidental music.

All CD art has been updated and saved at 600dpi Q12.

As I've mentioned, I'm in the process of updating all my 'productions' - below is a list with MP3 & FLAC download links of all currently finalised albums (including the 2 mentioned above). All are sourced from DVD isolated scores and include mixed/unmixed versions - except: the Tristram Cary scores - sourced from the commercial CD Devils' Planets; The Sea Devils - mono music cues (to differentiate it from the official release which has much material cut from it); and The Five Doctors, where I have left the TV version unmixed alongside the mixed extended version.

Ben thinks nobody even notices his work on Torchwood. Nice to see somebody else does, too... :)

I really like Ben's work, especially in the first two years. I just wish the CD sounded better.

There's a few Dudley Simpson tracks on there I've never seen before. Don't think they've ever been released:

Music from “The Android Invasion” Episodes 3 and 4, The Invasion of Time” Episodes 3 and 4 etc.

Not much, but it'll be very interesting to hear it!

I suppose the 11 disc set may have more unreleased tracks from Gold.

I'd quite like to hear "You put the devil in me" sung by Miranda Raisin, which Gold did say he would consider releasing.

There has to be more new series music because if each disc is for each doctor then the 9th disc gets 1 track 'Rose's Theme', and there's no way they would do that so i think they will add unreleased content from the new series on the limited edition so its more exclusive and there's even more reason to buy the limited edition version. That seems like the most likely thing they would do.

I'm hoping for the full version of "I am the Doctor". The chorus version needs to be included.

Yes its not fair that the classic series gets previously unreleased music but the new series is more 'the greatest hits of murray gold' he said himself that if there's ever a chance to release music that wasn't released before he would most likely do it. This IS that chance and yet it seems like they have gone against it again.
I'm hoping the 11 disc set has some sort of difference other than the track list split into each doctor. otherwise your paying more for the special case but the same tracks as the 4 disc.

Brilliant really enjoyed hearing them in that order - the music been great hasn't it.

And Chris I must say that's exactly my thoughts about cd 9 for the special edition they must know the demand as very little original music has been released so here's hoping we get what we've been waiting for.

Amanda
11-16-2013, 02:39 PM
They've known the demand for years. And have given in to it. Which is why we now get double disc sets and X-Mas albums. But they STILL have never released one track from series 1, 2, or 3 that has not been on those albums.

Here's hoping for more series 1 anyway. I'm afraid that for the 10th, they have so much material they will not use any unreleased material, same for the 11th. So out of15 discs of music, I find myself hanging on word of just 1 disc. **why we pirate**....

the download helper for Firefox usually grabs them. If not Flashgot for firefox can. Or, if all else fails, record line in from your sound card/speakers. Audacity can do this as can a multitude of freeware, but the quality varies severely.

One day, I hope to form some society which collects all the unreleased cues sitting on tapes and hard drives at the BBC. It shouldn't come to the point where we have the "Lost Episodes" thing, this time with music from Gold, it should be: "Here, we have all the music Murray recorded and all the demo's and alternates and final tracks- buy this "Studio Archive Collection".

They should do the same thing with films instead of let all the master tapes and files degrade over time in some drawer or cabinet.

There wouldn't need to be leaking or espionage. It's sad to know that a majority of people out there still don't realize the sessions for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone are here and they'll go on thinking, hoping, wishing and praying to no avail because no one in the corporations on high believe that this kind of music is worth anything.

I am severely unimpressed by the Hartnell set, even without seeing the tracklist. Almost every episode shown have "Special Sounds" or music already released from them (and since Norman Kay is not listed as a composer we can already assume that the "An Unearthly Child" music will be "Three Guitars Mood 2" yet again and pssibly some effects) and the Dudley Simpson scored stories included on the Hartnell collection have music that is pretty easily lifted from the DVDs as it is so those aren't much of a stretch.

I can't wait to see what the price tag is going to be on this 11 CD set. lol

We might be able to go one better. If we pool our resources, we might be able to come up with a complimentary album to the 11CD set out early next year. The FFS Anniversary Set :-)

I can't seen the track name, but Blogtor Who have a picture of the back of the Hartnell disc box stating the names of the serials included:Back Cover ()

From the notes and other responses on forums, there's certainly library and ambience tracks in the complete set, but there may also be cleaned up or recently discovered incidental music.

If I am making it out correctly, The Hartnell disc would seem to comprise music from Delia Derbyshire, Brian Hodgson, Ron Grainer, Tristram Cary and Dudley Simpson. The first four have had music already released, and I suspect that this disc will repeat some of those tracks. The latter makes it extra exciting in that (I think) Planet of the Giants and The Chase are the only Hartnell stories where he composed incidental music, which I don't believe have been released.

The stories listed on the set are:
An Unearthly Child - As Norman Kay is not listed, this might just be the theme tune and the complete TARDIS take-off. Might also include Three Guitars Mood Two.
The Daleks - previously released
The Edge of Destruction - could be sfx/ambience or library music
The Keys of Marinus - Composer is again Norman Kay, so perhaps sfx/ambience?
The Sensorites - Norman Kay again. as above.
The Chase - Dudley Simpson
Galaxy 4 - The notes state this includes a Les Structures Sonores track. Might include Chumblie sfx.
The Daleks Master Plan - previously released
The Gunfighters - The notes state this is a compiled version of The Ballad of the Last Chance Saloon
The Savages - Raymond Jones is the composer. There's no library music in this story. Perhaps SFX?
The Tenth Planet - Tons of library music! (Let's hope they don't erroneously include Blast Off!)

If you look at the track list of the 4 CD version, you'll see that Three Guitars Mood 2 is included on there so consider it included on the 11CD.

And Galaxy 4 has one of the Les Structures Sonores and like some FX tracks on the 4CD version.

The Keys of Marinus also has FX on the 4CD. (Over half of the first disc of the 4CD set will basically be Hartnell so... there probably won't be much added to his individual disc on the 11CD set. and its mostly tracks we already have anyways.)

Basically not holding my breath for anything massively rare and just a bunch of rehashed FX and SOME remastered library music.

Like I said, the Simpson scored episodes listed there on the box set (not "The Celestial Toymaker" at all) have easily lifted from DVD tracks on less than professional equipment so I can pretty much guarantee that's all we're going get for "The Chase".

Chris666, will the unreleased cues posts change your series 2 compilation? Are the Girl In The Fireplace cues from the Master Tapes now redundant with the episode release, or are they all different tracks?

Also I had once asked if you could arrange a track order for a Series 1 compilation that incorporates the OST, The "unreleased" set, the Master Tapes and your additions, in correct-ish order? I can rearrange my physical sets but neeeeed a guide....

Also to any intrepid cover makers, sets for the Series 1 & 2 Master Tapes and Girl In The Fireplace would be appreciated. :)

Let me see what I can come up with for covers for Series 1 and Series 2.

As well as a cover for "The Girl In The Fireplace".

I will, of course, have them match the official releases as closely as possible. ;) (However I tend to only design "iTunes" friendly covers now as I no longer burn ANYTHING to physical media so it would most likely just be a "front" cover.)

The pricing on this set gives me hope that the 11 disc set won't be grossly priced.

Amanda
11-19-2013, 07:35 PM
Not me my friend. I see one of two things. Either it will not cost much because they are not packed with music, and we will get nothing new at all, or they WILL be packed, and Series 1 in particular will be vastly expanded, and the set will actually cost a fair lump of change. I do not see getting a break on price but getting unreleased stuff.

So if we add Chris666's stuff, the unreleased promo, the master tapes and the ost tracks we can get a series 1 set running about 110 or more minutes....THAT is what Silva needs to best...:)

For those interested, comparing the Girl In The Fireplace tracks on the Series 2 Master Tapes, and the tracks on the Fireplace promo:

Track 1 = Pt I: Versailles on the Master Tapes
Track 4 = Part II: Clockwork Nightmare on the Master Tapes
Track 5 = Part II: Not Looking on the Master Tapes
Track 6 = Part IV: Fireplace Man on the Master Tapes
Track 9 = Part V: Reinette on the Master Tapes
Track 12b = Part VI: Inside Her Mind on the Master Tapes
Track 13 = Part VII: Walking in Memories on the Master Tapes
Track 17 = Part VIII: The Monsters And The Doctor on the Master Tapes. For My part, I will switch out the doubles, since the Master Tapes are mp3 256 compared to the 128. :)

---------- Post added at 12:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:05 PM ----------

Also, WERE I to do it, Track 1 would be Versailles, and track 2 would be the main title. And of course, end titles at the err...end. This would likely give a nearly complete score for this episode? It's 42 minutes without titles. Isn't that a kicker? The one story severely abused by Silva and we may have the whole thing? What about the "Suite" in the OST? A bonus on the end? And what to do about track 2b and it's dialog?

Well. I'm newcomer in Doctor's music (I started with new series - in Russia Doctor was shown for the first time almost immediately after UK premiere).
I missed original "Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop" volumes, other compilation albums, so this 11 CD-set will be great present for me!
Of course I understand that "old-school" fans has some doubts about this set - they already have most of the music on old CDs.
But as for newcomers this will not play important role - they can get great anthology from every Doctor! That's sounds like a dream, that come true. ;)

I never did have the FLAC version of Silurians... You'll just have to see if DrMatt can re-post it for you I suppose. :(

I, for one, would love anything from "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances"... and pretty much anything else. :)

Would anyone like me to get more Series 1 Unreleased cues? I have some more i can rip as clean as possible :)

News on that EPIC Theme Tune rendition in the 50 years BBC Trailer.

The company that produced it, Stringsandtins, have replied on twitter that they would be happy to release the track but the decision has to be made by the BBC who own the rights. Guess we know the answer already. I don't think the BBC are going to release it sadly. Which is a huge shame because that theme deserves to be heard in its entirety without all the sound effects and matt's narration.

The Girl in the Fireplace is awesome, but for me personally, I'm really buzzed to have that set of cues from Impossible Planet/Satan Pit. That was the first score he did where I thought MG really got it 'right' on every count. Before that, he'd been either a bit bombastic or too weedy. Here he cohered his style into something both more lyrical and punchy (when necessary) - it really came together and he's been pretty great ever since. Very interesting then to listen to the Series 1 stuff and hear how different it is to the approach he takes now. I suppose most of that is realised on synths and keyboards whereas now it's mostly orchestrated, but it does feel like he really developed and progressed over that Series 1 to 2 period.

Big, big thanks, Amanda.

Is there any way to sort out the Series 1 cues that have been posted here? Other than the obvious ("Boom Town" is probably from Boom Town) I can't make head nor tail of them. It's frustrating.

Thanks for the series one and two master tapes Amanda - they're absolutely marvelous! Hopefully, you will get more unreleased gems to share with us in due course and if they include the instrumentals to songs like 'Song for Ten', 'My Angel Put The Devil In Me' and 'The Stowaway', I will be ecstatic!

And what to do about track 2b and it's dialog?

So, I was goofing around with Audacity to trim the silences and when it came to the dialog track "GitF - Track 02b", I was able to 'cut out' the dialog. Let me know what you think:

The 4 disc set is up on Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-50th-Anniversary-Collection/dp/B00GR9GXA4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384885778&sr=8-1&keywords=Doctor+Who+50th+Anniversary+Soundtrack) for pre-order, and is only 12.30. I paid more than that for the 2-disc series 7 soundtrack.

The pricing on this set gives me hope that the 11 disc set won't be grossly priced.

I just saw that the Silva store has it for pre-order as well.

We haven't seen a tracklist for the 11 disc set yet.

The most info about the set that I have come across so far was here:

http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-collection-all-soundtracks-72196/184.html#post2519182

So if what scorehunter66 says is true, I guess the 9th Doctor disc will be the one that has hardly any music on it if they aren't going to include any unreleased Murray Gold music? Hard to believe if each disc from the set is dedicated to individual Doctors...

I was thinking: "Shit...a greatest hits from all the seasons." then I realized it was the four-disc set. I have a feeling it will just include the soundtracks as they already are. Same tracks and everything.

Amanda

It can's, because if each disc is dedicated to each Doctor, then the Series 1 & 2 disc cannot be the same, since it combined the two Series/eras....in theory.

Each Doctor gets a disc. Which means one for Eccleston, One for Tennant and one for Smith.

No chance of rehashed track for track tracklists. And a BIG opportuinty for lots of unreleased Eccleston music. (Most of which has pretty much been posted here lol)

But, fear not... they will not just be rehashed versions of the Series 1&2, Series 3, Series 4, Series 4 - The Specials, Series 5, Series 6, Series 7 and Christmas Specials collections. THey have to have 8 discs just to cover 1963-1996. ;)

Looking at the 1st Doctor stories represented on the 4 disc set vs the picture of the stories featured for the first doctor disc in the 11 disc set, it looks like "The Savages" is the only story not represented in the four disc set.

Regardless, all will be revealed once Silva releases the breakdown of each disc for the 11 disc set. Hopefully they won't keep us waiting too long...

We could be waiting a while, the 11 disc set isnt out till early 2014. Don't think we will have the tracklisting for a while yet.

---------- Post added at 06:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:17 AM ----------

I want to know when they will announce a soundtrack for Day Of The Doctor. We know its going to happen. Perhaps they will announce it shortly after it airs. Perhaps tracklisting gives away spoilers to the episode, so couldn't announce before hand.

I already heard a brilliant Doctor Forever variation in a preview clip released.

And "The Savages" has a track already released on The Radiophonic Workshop: The Early Years disc. It's 22 seconds long. And since the stories MUSIC composer is not credited on the packaging, we can assume it will only be that FX track with maybe a few more added. :-/

But Between FX and Library music, they've got a full disc. Plus those two random stories composed by Dudley Simpson listed.

We **assume** the Murray Gold tracks will be new. There is more than enough material for a repackaging of tracks for the 10th and 11th. More than enough. It is only for the 9th that the disc would be light. But looking at the 1sts's track list, it hardly feels like a packed cd. If that IS the case, there is enough on the Series 1 & 2 set to make a light cd, and I am betting that may be the case.

I have a very big hunch that the First Doctor album will be far more individual tracks than what we're seeing on the 4CD set. "The Daleks' Masterplan" alone is a twelve part story with enough of a score by itself to take up over half a disc... so I'm very hopeful that Mark Ayres and the BBC KNOW that there needs to be more Eccleston than what was included on the Series 1 & 2 official release. Now if we get anything new for the Ninth that we don't already have provided here (thank you AGAIN Amanda, et al.) is something I don't even want to try and figure out. ;)

Anyone have a feeling we'll be getting a 'Day of The Doctor' / Christmas Special 2 Disc Set? I thought we might have the 50th Soundtrack released around the same time, but I think they might be pushing it back to coincide with a Christmas/New Year release.

Mark Ayres said he was still working on 11-disc set four days ago:

16th November 2013, 03:03 PM

I am just putting the finishing touches to the 11-disc masters, right now. It's fab.

And regarding the running times:

7th November 2013, 07:50

The 4-disc set is 4 x 78m CDs. The 11-disc set is 11 x 78m CDs. A real mixture of stuff, much of it previously-unreleased. I've been working on them for months.

Actually, tell a lie. One of the 11 is about 60m. The others run between 78 and 79.5.

As far as I recall, everything on the 4 is on the 11. Though some of the suites on the 11 run longer than the equivalent tracks on the 4, so there are minor cosmetic differences.

So one disc is shorter than we'd like. I'm hoping it's the McGann one rather than Eccles...

Yes I certainly wouldn't mind an upload of The Last Day either, since us in the UK are being robbed and forced to pay for the episode those in the US get for free.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can get it!

Hold on, I found a Vimeo vid of Last Day.

103 Doctor Who The Last Day Mini Epi on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/79883993)

It's a nice little short, but could've used more duration. I don't complain however, because we're seeing what happens in the 50TH, and in a big, insaner way.

Also, BBC did say someone made a mistake in the iTunes UK shop, since the episode is SUPPOSED to be free for btoh countries. They're trying to fix it, but nothing yet. The short will be in the DVD/Blu-ray/Blu-Ray 3D.

I go away for a few weeks - and look what happens!

Slowly catching up on the masses of posts here since real life unexpectedly called me away with no access to internet. Very impressed with all the activity around Classic Who music on the thread. When I heard about this 11 CD set from Silva Screen, sounded so similar to the idea I had I laughed! But it's looking like with all the effort being made here, that a second complimentary 11 CD set could easily be put together.

Here's some CD art for Series 1 & 2 Music Cues album (https://mega.co.nz/#!2U4kBCaK!WE3f1BwB9aRYvzos-CtboltUsyUTuzvWSCS457U0-OU) I put together:

I've also uploaded PSDs (https://mega.co.nz/#!zBZilYrI!LAYZAB2Asr41PriM9mpxVHFUpplVnB44NFJR0IU piAo) for people who may wish to use them as templates for future NuWho music cover designs.

Regarding the "Blue Veils & Golden Sands" doc, can anyone tell me what the origin of this is? I have an MP3 set that includes the Radio 4 doc in 12 parts, and then 22 Derbyshire tracks. I'm happy to share it, but I don't know where I got it from (D*monoid?) and don't want to step on toes. It looks like a DrMatt release, but it's not tagged in anyway.

This is the edition I put together - all CD sourced (except the opening Radio 4 announcement, recorded off-air) available in MP3 (https://mega.co.nz/#!KIRVQAJK!ZTHLrGPx9k4UW2I74ufGTmbFvc19emmEWbU27_D FlJk) & FLAC (https://mega.co.nz/#!mdxW2boQ!Ucxw0ihJMJ0OxJMwjBP69Ua2rz1ntz2IdaXnkr3 Ng7I) with full CD art.

Here are updated editions of:

Doctor Who and the Silurians (Soundtrack & Music Cues): MP3 (https://mega.co.nz/#!DAJASLZL!OeBnPUojSQ0pAtEc7C-r2Fi-cUVv5IQ7Keqp_PSZy6g)/FLAC (https://mega.co.nz/#!qFRxiTqA!JFWO8nAvovHuo-LS87eIlHb5dioOSYOJ2_h1Z9XDla8)

Currently sorting a Special Edition of 'Seasons of Fear' (soundtrack and 90 minutes of source cues) and will be fullfilling other recent requests over the coming days.

I believe Silva Records teased that "The Day of the Doctor" would be a two disc set. We've not had any information since then...this was posted way back in the thread. As for the Christmas Special, given the fact that it's Matt's final episode and Capaldri (probably butchered his name) first I would imagine it could be a two disc.

If anyone watched The One Show tonight, the Radiophonic Workshop performed the doctor who theme live. They played Peter howell version at one point and added a subtle drum beat that made it sound even better than it already is. I'm trying to record it but tonights episode is yet to pop up on BBC iplayer.

I've recorded the entire performance, removed the quotes, rearranged into the correct order and added a proper ending: Doctor Who Theme (The One Show Performance)(2) (http://www.mediafire.com/?55p4p86tzlly6pg)

This is probably the best remastered performance i've ever heard. When i say remastered theres certain moments that sound as if they have been tweaked or something new has been added. The Drum beat gave more kick to the bassline which was also much louder and better.

I dunno. But I would not expect that canon to be followed. If it suits them, they may change everything. The details of the Time War, or the Doctor's exact role, have not been officially established in the new series, so I figure they will wing it. I also dunno that we will see a Hurt/Eccleston regeneration. They are managing to keep things close, that is for sure, so who knows. Personally, I always have thought it was very clear the 9th was newly regenerated in Rose. Except, all the appearances of the Doctor in history were of the 9th, soooooo....?

Timey-wimey will not work for the 9th. IF he is brand new in Rose (As he seems to be), then he is with Rose his entire tenure, therefor no time when he is alone for those adventures. (Unless Rose was also there, which cannot be confirmed or denied, really). Tennant has traveled alone, and it is made explicit that Smith does, but not the 9th that we know of.

Didn't, in 'Journey's End', at the end...

The 10th Doctor tell Rose to take his 'human version' because he was angry, like the 9th Doctor was, because he was 'born in war'.

That could mean the 9th traveled alone, after he was 'born' in the Time War.

Timey-wimey may not work...however you never know. I'm sure there have been some off-screen adventures, like the 9th mentioned in "Bad Wolf" after remembering what happened before he, Rose and Jack were transmatted off the TARDIS (they had just visited Kyoto, Japan in 1336). He could have dropped Jack and Rose off somewhere while gallivanting on his own for a bit at any time...or maybe he just never looked at himself in a mirror after regenerating before meeting up with Rose (doubtful, but again, you never know lol).

During the "Doctor's Revisted" for the Ninth they point out that he seems to have been in his current body for awhile but just hadn't bothered to check a mirror since the regeneration.

And seriously... I gave up trying to figure out the continuity a long time ago. I think it was around the time I tried to figure out the UNIT Timeline.

Yes, but it is not just the mirror thing. It is all the antics in Rose's place. The fiddling with things, the failed card trick bit "maybe not". It is as if he is trying to find his "thing", if you get what I mean. It seems written and acted as a new Doctor still figuring the new body out. It's not really that important. I think it may have been intended that way, but got dropped by the wayside. If all the Doctors had different faces in those stories and pictures, Rose would not have recognized him, let alone audiences brand new to the show. But, see, no mention of a young blond thing in the stories, or drawings or photos. Hard to think even a casual researcher could miss Rose. I completely ignore The Doctors Revisited as incompetent garbage. :) They gloss over the most important stuff. And, with the 8th, they should have spent some time discussing the novel and audio stories. Obviously, with our mini-episode, they have decided to embrace all of that. The whole 8th Doctor installment needs to be tossed. The same will hold true for most of the new series, you watch. Especially since the number of regenerations is off by one. Each "season" or era had it's own internal continuity. It may have directly contradicted past continuity, but within a certain given time all things related. But, the new series is really, really not doing that, well not as it progresses. We'll see. I think that they may not show the regeneration into the 9th just to avoid conflicting with Rose. ????

To the whole "When was 9 alone" thing, it's commonly believed that after Rose declined he went off and had some adventures. He then realised that he forgot to tell Rose it was a time machine as well. Then he went back and told her.

Well, that's just cheating, I think. But it may work, actually. The other issue with him alone before Rose was his anger. He is just filled with anger, pain and regret. Not at all like who he is when Rose softens him. But the Doctor described in the stories seems quite content and relaxed. Mostly just hopping around history and observing things. Does seem very "Doctorish", yes, but not pre-Rose Doctor. But, if he went off a while after meeting Rose, after having some contact, maybe he had a little time to think, decided he really liked her/needed a companion, and went back. I could live with that scenario.

I know, seems silly. But in terms of the character arc of the 9th, I feel it is somewhat important to understand. I mean, look at the anger he still had in Dalek. It was only because Rose showed him that he realized how he was reacting. ( a LOT like the War Doctor, I imagine).

It's like saying the 10th after losing Rose is essentially the same. He's not. Martha leaving too but not to the same degree. However, the 10th after losing Donna is very different indeed. And, ANY adventures he may have had during the period of the specials will be tainted by his knowing he is only putting off the inevitable. So, stories set in those times **should** have fairly distinctive feels. So solo 9th Doctor stories should likewise be affected.

I don't know how that's "commonly" known. Nobody in my DW circles ever came up with that idea. It's not implausible, but definitely not "common". I'd say more "fan service" than anything.

On 'The Culture Show' DW special tonight, there's a section with Mark Ayres in a studio with a small orchestra with instruments and synths trying to match the exact set-up Dudley Simpson used, with a performance of the giant rat cliffhanger scene from 'Talons'... To do this specially for a very short section on a TV documentary seems a long way to go... So maybe what we didn't see were new performances of classic Dudley Simpson DW music - to be included on the 11 CD Silva Screen set?... :)

I have found some intriguing news.

While looking for music from An Adventure In Space And Time, I did a google search of Murray Gold and found a website which showed all his credits.

Oddly enough it had an album called: Doctor Who: Season 5, Episode 1: The Eleventh Hour

The Track list is as follows:

1 Crashlanding
2 Police Box
3 Still Cooking
4 New Mouth New Rules
5 Scary Crack
6 Everything's Going to Be Fine
7 Eyeball
8 Engines Phasing
9 Five Minutes
10 Coma Patients
11 Policewoman
12 Another Funny Thing
13 A Lot of Time Off
14 Prisoner Zero
15 Ice Cream Van
16 Twenty Minutes
17 Spaceships
18 Tied Up
19 Catch
20 Stop That Nurse
21 Eye in the Sky
22 To the Mini
23 Conference Call
24 Who Da Man
25 I'm the Doctor
26 TARDIS Key
27 A Mad Man With a Box
28 Coming Soon

Now It could be a rip but they also include the Series One Bootleg selections album which we know is a proper release by gold himself as a demo album. Could the same be said for this?

No this is a bootleg rip of the episode music tracks with sound effects and (on some tracks) a lot of talking I edited my copy of it to remove most of the tracks that were full of talking and replace the tracks that could be replaced with official OST ones.

I will upload it later on if anyone wants it. There was one OST track that I couldn't figure out (I am terrible at placing music tracks) called Zero if anyone can tell me where it's from in the episode I can reorder the track list .

I also have all the other Season 5 rips (except Cold Blood) and all of them are in various states of editing out dialogue tracks and inserting/replacing the tracks from the OST - if anyone is good with that sort of thing I could send them the raw soundtracks and get them to fix them up and send back to fix up the digital track list and I will post them on here completed?

One place that few people seem to think of for possible 9th Doctor solo adventures, is during Aliens of London when the Doctor uses the TARDIS to go and investigate what's going on. Given the vagaries of being able to steer accurately, and the fact that it wasn't an emergency so the TARDIS may have taken him to other places he 'needed' to go, other tales are possible at that point.

I don't often post, partially because I visit here in fits and starts, and partially because I often don't have much to say.

But as we've just had the 50th, I did want to say thank you to all of the posters, and especially you lovely hard-working folks who create soundtracks of the series. It's lovely to be able to access so much of the music when the BBC still doesn't seem to see the market for complete episode soundtracks.

Sadly I can't offer any new music or edits, but I semi-regularly post about Doctor Who to dalekboy.com, so some of you may enjoy my deluded ramblings over there.

Anyway, thank you for being an awesome group :)

Does anyone who attended the Celebration remember which tracks were used as filler music between the theatre shows for the PLEASE TAKE YOUR SEATS AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN slide. Started with Three Guitars Mood, I know that much! Bit of Mysterious Planet was in there for sure, Logopolis and the Trial arrangement of the main theme maybe. Might be getting muddled with music used in the excellent montage videos they also screened between the shows.

Oh yeah, Culture Show is the other thing I wanted to ask about. Those musicians didn't get together just to demonstrate one cue from Talons, did they? Were they re-recording Dudley's music for CD release? Is this the stuff on the big box set?

Mark Ayres said that it was "a useful experiment". Read into that what you will.

How about we start to compile the available tracks that were used in Day of the Doctor and make a fan made soundtrack while we wait for the new tracks to be available? We might get them in Christmas with the Xmas special included, kinda like Wardrobe/Snowmen soundtrack. That'd be nice :D

Tracks Used in TDOTD include:
Original Theme
Clara?
Slitheen
The Majestic Tale
Words Win Wars
Fish Custard
The Time of Angels
Trenzalore
I am the Doctor
Everything Has to End Some Time
The Sad Man With a Box
The Leaf
The Wedding of River Song
