No, so whatever you say, please spoiler tag it! (I have seen the leaked episode, but for the benefit of those who haven't)

Actually, to be honest, I'd rather not say it. If you go on doctorwhotv.co.uk, you'd find that they actually leaked Episode 1's enemies ages ago :P

For those who know who they are, I'm curious on what their theme is gonna be like in this episode.

MAJOR SPOILERS!
I think it'll be similar to their last appearance in 'The Girl in the Fireplace' - with sinister electronic effects and perhaps Victorian undertones considering the setting. I just love the different themes Murray creates :)

Here is something interesting. These may not be the originals (one certainly isn't), but at the end of this 1969 album are five or six tracks from the previous year's The Invasion. One is called Aunty's Army, and for those who remember the UNIT theme, will recognise it instantly.

Download DWLP 3141 new decade 1969.rar from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way (http://www.sendspace.com/file/5wcbvc)

Could we possibly have a re-up please?

Sabre Dance was riped from the original vinyl release and threated with noise reduction (fgs!) from what I remember.

And here is the two tracks used in Abominable Snowmen without effects. Still don't know which is which.

For anyone who likes Sarah Jane Adventures music, I now have the series 1-5 boxset and have discovered 'new' 'clean' music that feature on the menus and shall post them later, once I've gone though every disk.

Turns out that, disappointingly, each series used the same menus, meaning the 'new' music was minimal. I have acquired four 'new' pieces of music, all from series one. Now, should I just post these, or should I, along with the pieces I got from CBBC website games, expand the big soundtrack post of mine?

I've got them all (An Unearthly Child to Horns of Nimon, and one or two 80s ones). They were made in 2007/2008 time and were put up on You Tube under Choking Horror, until the account was exterminated! Some weren't sourced from the latest DVDs. Which ones do you want to hear?

And yes, they contain grunts, groans, whirrs, clicks etc, some more than others. Choking Horror learnt better editing tricks as he went along, but couldn't be arsed with any fancy jiggery pokery.

Exceptions:
Some suites were replaced by newer, cleaner versions (possibly Sensorites & Underworld, but maybe more)

Oh yes, that's a good fanfare. I shall be obtuse and pick The Celestial Toymaker. Just love that clockwork waltz. Spent ages once picking it apart and putting it together to see if I could get the complete thing from the various times it was played in a loop, without talking and too much clatter. Just about managed it. Dead chuffed I were. Then I killed a teddy bear.

But some of his themes are stonkers - the Ambassadors of Death theme, the strange and eccentric piece from Day of the Daleks when the Ogron attacks the house in Episode 2, Sutekh's radiophonic organ, the auton attack music from Spearhead. Loads more, I'm sure.

I've finished by little compilation of 50 years of Who, with some bonus semi-Who tracks. I'll upload it soon and thanks to whose who uploaded stuff that I used ;-). This isn't intended to upstage anything else, like Impossibleego's set (which is bound to be better) or the Silva Screen set (though that's not particularly hard to upstage).

It is only a minute and comes from episode 1. It's not too bad, if I say so myself. I'm sure I posted up the whole of the CT music on here some time ago. It is sourced from the latest Loose Cannon job, and the sound quality varies enormously from scene to scene!

Also, I got my copy of The Ultra Sonic Perception the other day - sound quality's good with only the very occasional trace of a vinyl crackle (really not bad for 54-year-old 78 records!) It's a wonderful little listen - very quirky, often fun, and with a surprisingly varied array of sounds on offer.

The following might just be a definitive list of the tracks that were used in Doctor Who (famous last words):

1 Ultimate - the first half appears in The Space Museum (1) and, despite not appearing on the PasB, the second part is used in The Moonbase (3)
2 Moonscape - The Moonbase (2) (and does *not* appear in Space Museum despite being listed on the PasB).
3 Galaxy - Tomb of the Cybermen (1-4) (it's the background for the main "upstairs" chamber of the Tombs)
4 Suspended Animation - Space Museum (1), Time Meddler (1), Tomb (2), and throughout Moonbase 3 and 4.
10 The Laboratory - The Space Museum (2)

Most of the above also appear in A For Andromeda / Andromeda Breakthrough, as do:

15 The Laboratory 2
19 Spacedrift
20 Meteors - great track!
21 Star - which is the two-note Andromeda sting, used throughout the series.
26 Sidereal Vibrations
31 Eclipse

- There may well be some I've missed, and others that appeared in the missing episodes.

Also, track 11, Concerto to the Stars, was used as the theme to Out of this World, which was a pleasant surprise.

My only grumble is that on some tracks, the track index points are positioned a little late. I'm not technically equipped enough to explain this properly, but, for example, the opening split second of track 26 appears at the end of track 25, and when one selects to play track 26, the opening miliiseconds are skipped.

I may collect Desmond Leslie's music but I draw the line at actually listening to it! :D

Actually, I think some other kind soul pointed that out when I originally posted it. I'm not 100% convinced they're one and the same tracks though - the Space Museum track is definitely Desmond Leslie and is definitely the same "sample" that appears in The Stranger, but I've tried playing the two versions side by side and adjusting the speed up and down but I can't get them to match to an extent that would convince me (no, I don't get out much). Given that Leslie tended to recycle his sounds, my money's still on it being "Kaputt", as listed on the production paperwork. (For tedious reasons that bore even me, I think the other Leslie track listed, "Sting Tintabuloid", is probably the bell-like sting used in "Tomb".)

This is the first post I've made anywhere for weeks that hasn't included the word "Siday"... :)

Hmmm... Some have a little bit of crackle. Which tracks had the problem? I'll go and recheck them to make sure I haven't accidentally included one of the bad rips. I shouldn't have, but trying to do that, listen to tracks, and wrangle kids I can see where I might have stuffed up.

I know Cold Worlds drove me nuts until I discovered, by checking out other copies of the track online, that the regular crackling there was actually meant to be footsteps.

If I have stuffed up, I'll repost corrected tracks asap.

I wonder if other record labels will ever pick up the rights for Doctor Who. La La Land or Intrada. A dream where I imagine a multidisc set of all the previously unreleased Gold music is released to the world. Albeit because having all the music might be too generous, there'll be those elusive cues that go missing...

---------- Post added at 12:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 AM ----------

I remember in an interview with Gold someone asked him about why he didn't release a cue and he responded as if he didn't know what the questioner had meant? Might be personal issues or choices, it's frustrating!

I would say the likelihood of a foreign label working on Doctor Who is, thankfully, low. Silva Screen have been very generous with their releases so far - thirteen CDs devoted to Murray Gold's music so far is certainly unprecedented for a television score. (With literally a handful of exceptions - Star Trek springs to mind.)

Silva do their best - but ultimately the music is licensed by the BBC and if they don't want it released, or they throw a spanner in the works slowing up a release, or they ask for exorbitant fees... that's the way it is. Doctor Who is probably Silva's best-seller as far as soundtracks go... I'm fairly sure that if they could they would be releasing everything they could. Obviously stuff is going on behind the scenes, and everybody seems to forget a very straightforward fact; this music is recorded by BBC Wales to underscore a TV show. That's what it's for. They are in the business of making money and soundtracks don't make money - not for them, anyway. They couldn't care less whether a soundtrack is released or not - and Murray Gold gets paid either way. He does care... but when push comes to shove he's a composer and he writes music for TV and film - and that's where he'll focus his energies.

Time spent putting CD releases together is time NOT spent writing (and getting paid for) a new score... and whatever he does, somebody is going to bellyache at him. If he misses off the 13,456th variation of "I Am The Doctor" people will scream "THAT'S MY FAVOURITE CUE!!!!!!" - etc, etc... So... he (and others) work on getting a CD together that covers the score - in tone and content - as broadly as possible. He wants to make something that sounds good on an album, and he knows that he can't please all the people all the time, but hopefully he can do something pretty decent and please most of the people. It probably won't surprise anybody to learn that Gold (and the rest of the team) find the process of releasing soundtrack albums distracting and irritating... ;)

Our market is small and dwindling. We are lucky to get ANYTHING. What we DO get is positively luxurious. If there's a delay, well, we'll just have to suck it up and be patient. It'll come eventually. :)

Hello Zoran, good to hear from you! It's been a while.

I've had a check around about this, and neither the TARDIS Edition (with its bespoke packaging) nor the standard CD edition have shipped yet. There are a lot of negative comments on forums asking why the delay to the latter as there is no dependence on packaging from other countries. So far, no official answer that I can see. September / October would appear to be the shipping time.

Of course, the FFS Anniversary Set might beat it out of the stable and provide a complimentary, if not better, listening experience :-)

Right. I've done a bit of work and put together a 50th anniversary soundtrack collection, in the wake of Silva Screen's disappointing effort. There isn't much that is entirely 'new', but I have put in a vast selection of different tracks that represent the various musical talents (where available, no Francis Chagrin unfortunately) involved in Doctor Who. The content here has mainly been poached from various official releases over the years, my own personal rips from DVDs and photo galleries, and from the efforts of certain people on this site. If I used your stuff you are credited on the notes within, and I did PM you all (I hope). If you didn't reply, I used your stuff anyway. It is all mainly track based with not too many suites, as that is how I prefer to listen to music. There are some suites there however, some of which have been created by me with the available material so there is some stuff that you wouldn't have heard before as it's presented here. Anyway, the like is here - The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Album. (http://www.mediafire.com/download/6u6pi9in7vepea7/Doctor_Who__The_50th_Anniversary_Album.zip) Just MP3 I'm afraid.

*contains some sound effects

Tracks 11, 36, 39, 46, 47, 48, 63, 75, 76, 77, 88, 128 and 138 are all suites assembled by me. The editing is mainly good, though I apologise for a couple of dodgy bits.
Track 128 (The Time of the Doctor (Suite)) contains one short piece of Clara talking which I couldn't remove. The bulk of the suite was also compiled from the performance of Time of the Doctor music from the Symphonic Spectacular earlier this year.
Track 54 (Paris Touring Music (City of Death)) is the live version from the 2013 Prom.

Enjoy. Comment if you want (with praise or hatred.) If I've made a mistake with the song credits then let me know. As I've mentioned in previous posts this is not the work of a miracle, merely my humble efforts repaying for all the enjoyment I've got from listening to the fruits of all your labours. And lastly I'm not intending to upstage any efforts of others who are embarking on similar tasks (Silva Screen, Impossibleego amongst others).

Thanks and enjoy.

P.S: If someone can create some decent artwork (I'm hopeless) could you. I used the 4-Disc Silva artwork as mine at the moment.

So, Clef3, whilst I wait for the download to finish, I wonder, are any of my rips included in your 50th anniversary soundtrack?

Edit: You included "Aunty's Army" for The Invasion when the original cue from the episode has been released!? "Battle with the Lone Dalek" is just "Surfing the Rift" which ONLY appears in Boom Town.

Also, quite a few tracks quality sound a bit off, especially the ones that seem to have originated from rips... Actually, most if not all which are clearly not from CDs or official tracks sound quite off...

Sorry about all the complaining, Clef3, would you be able to list the sources for all tracks? I want to know if the source tracks actually sound off or if it's something that you've done for this compilation.

No worries. My original version of the compilation as I put on iTunes sounds perfectly fine quality wise (this is prior to it being zipped and uploaded to media fire.) I have downloaded the one from the link and listened to it and you're right, it does sound a bit off. Don't know what happened there.

As for the sources of all the tracks, give me a moment (or maybe a few). I'll be back tomorrow with the info.

Remember Song for 50? Well here (https://www.mediafire.com/?qmne1vazbe82u6d) it is cut down to just the bits I personally thought were okay-ish, and remastered in general.

(http://www.mediafire.com/download/6u6pi9in7vepea7/Doctor_Who__The_50th_Anniversary_Album.zip) Just MP3 I'm afraid.

clef, if you are compiling something including the 9th Doc, why not use some of the unreleased score available as opposed to the OST tracks, which are usually either re-recordings or lain mislabeled all together? Just curious as to the reasoning.

It's only the main theme, new adventures and hologram that are from the OST. The rest are unreleased though, I think. I did change some of the titles however. Westminster Bridge on this collection is Running, Running from the unreleased tracks, I just changed the title in line with the OST version (which has a better title in my opinion). Likewise Father's Day is the one from the unreleased tracks.

With the premiere of Deep Breath now passed. Information has arisen about the Opening Title Sequence and Theme Tune. Below is a qoute from a viewer at the premiere. to read it highlight the space below (this is to avoid spoilers for anyone who doesn't want to know about the sequence until the 23rd Of August)

"Music was a surprise. It's different. Bits of electronic but not back to basics. It's similar to the ones we know it's based off, but no Chamelon Arch watch, no seal of Rassilion, basically the whole cog stuff and the spiral TARDIS bit is in. More space and time vortex added to it, names and logo aren't OTT animated and no face that I saw"

I personally like the sound of this. It does sound promising. though I doubt its anything i'm expecting. Thoughts?

It can't be any worse than the last few title sequences... (That may just be me having the Ninth Doctor as my Doctor and preferring his title sequence out of all the new series ones) It does sound interesting, I can't wait to see it! This photo has me interested... ()

The Monks singing in The Time Meddler. These have been cut to match how they were heard on the two episodes themselves. Otherwise there would have been sixteen minutes worth of chanting as all the music used comes from the first seven tracks, and from all over the place. The whole album goes on for hours. Now, I did have an issue with a duplicate track so I may be out on identifying the original tracks, but so bloody what.

The first extract was played twice so is marked S 01 and S 02.

The numbers at the end of the titles - which give you an idea where in a scene they were played - refer to the tracks on the original CD.

The one which was used in the scene where the Doctor hears the gramophone wind down and then back up again is the same track, in case you ever spent a sleepless night wondering. Keep an ear out for the word Gloria. That's when it happens on the TV. As a point of interest, this is from the fourth track, and as luck would have it, is nearly identical in places to the previous one except for one different note!

As a point of interest, the chanting heard in Episode 2 was the end of one track and the beginning of the next.

My thanks to the poster who pointed out they were on itunes.

Thanks to Chris666eden and Amanda for the majority of the tracks. I can also do one for series 2-4, if any of you want me to.

Gnaw, can you name the original tracks from which you crop that fragments? You can also upload here the entire thing if you can.

For track 101 you could get a much higher quality version from here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-collection-all-soundtracks-72196/237.html#post2629026). Track 102 is actually "Surfing the Rift" from Boom Town. (I guess you downloaded Amanda's latest post of the master tapes which some tracks are titled wrong) For track 108 you should of used Sycorax Sword Fight from Chris666eden's series 2 soundtrack. For track 138 I can hear "Main Title", "Mrs Wormwood's Office", "Meant to Die", "Lady Jane/Sarah Jane's Loss", "Androvax's Story", "Eve Out of Control/Playtime is Over", "I Love You Sarah Jane Dalton", "Clyde and Rani Ghostbusting", "This Unit May Not Be Removed", "You're Going Back Into Your Nightmares!", "Clyde the Decoy", "She's In League with the Shansheeth", "My Son's a Genius", "The Germans Get Caught Monologue-ing", "Get Out of my House", and finally one of my rips "And the story goes on..." (I think I know too much about Sarah Jane Adventures music when I can identify the tracks from the first second of hearing them...)

I used the Fight With the Sycorax Leader that I did to add some variety to the material. And you're right about the SJA stuff.

I've just uploaded a newer version to Mega, with new artwork courtesy of gwylock1. I haven't changed any of the tracks though, because I think they're fine and can't be bothered to change them.

Mr Agony to you. Actually, they have no individual names. It's just Secundae Vesperae in Nativatate, tracks one to sixteen. There's another couple of volumes of droning but I didn't download those because of the price, and of the logic that whoever picked the tracks in 1965 was going to pick the earlier ones. This particular volume is called The Office - The Mass, sung by the Benedictine Monks of St. Martin, Beuron.

Thanks for sharing - that's absolute bloody rubbish.
Titles look like something JNT would have approved and the theme is a weak arrangement.

I used to think that Moffat was a purist, he appears to be more of a JNT fan.

I just found out that the titles are almost an exact copy of a fan made version posted on youtube...

Yes, but the fan IS credited as the creator on the titles. And he was brought into the process by BBC, so it's all good.

I REALLY hope not. I'm a bit tired of recurring themes taking up half the score for the season. Personal opinion, of course.

Does anybody got a favorite score from Peter Howell?

I don't have a favourite story but music that sticks out is

Re-creation (The Leisure Hive)
Tharil Revenge (Warriors' Gate)
The Kinda (Kinda)
Janissary Band (Snakedance)
Look Out! Cybermen (The Five Doctors)
Planet of Fire (Suite)
Sontaran Theme (The Two Doctors)

Also, The Astronauts (b-side on the 80's theme) is one of his best ever musical pieces

Thoughts on the leaked episode 3:
I do hope the score used on the leaked copy is the actual score or at-least the actual score to the episode will sound as good or even better, because, whilst watching it, it REALLY sounded like a great score. Also, I just loved the whole episode, especially the part where the photo of Patrick Troughton as Robin Hood appeared on the screen! I feel as-though this series is to be the first good series since series three! (Well, for me anyway) It really does seem to get better each episode! Calpaldi could well become my favourite Doctor ahead of McGann, even though I doubt it, it is looking like he might!

Ohh, grabbing that now :)

From what I read:

Someone had commented that the temp music for this ep was from BBC's Robin Hood series...I wouldn't know since I never watched the Robin Hood series, so they could be wrong. Glad to know that this was a good ep - I've enjoyed the other two leaked eps, so definitely looking forward to this one based on your feedback. I think Capaldi is doing a great job so far...cannot wait for the rest of the series!

I'm actually really eager to hear what Murray has come up with for Series 8 and Capaldi. "I Am The Doctor" was the perfect theme for Matt since it encapsulates his Doctor. A new Doctor usually means new theme!

I REALLY hope not. I'm a bit tired of recurring themes taking up half the score for the season. Personal opinion, of course.

I saw the episode today and there's a lot of new music and a new theme for the new doctor.

As part of my exciting life waiting for sleep before work, etc, I've been making a new Evil of the Daleks cut-a-long of music. The sound track came from the recent LC reconstruction. It is not as sharp as some of their others. The cut together is an improvement from my last one from 2008 or 9. Lasts about the same, 25 minutes or so. One thing I noticed though, episode 7 only used music from previous episodes, especially the sixth.

Anyway, I was most taken by some of the Dalek motifs used for the story, so much so that they now wake me up in the morning. Here's a few minutes of it.

Edit: Done! Uploading now! 34 tracks! I can't believe how clean the music was! (Except for the closing theme, there was no way of removing the voice over, annoyingly!)

My favourite piece of music has to be when the Doctor leaves the room, near the beginning of the episode.

I have 2 pieces from Deep breath in the form of Suites and I've gone through those Eternity clock files and found the unreleased music. Its the stuff i posted quite a way back in this thread but these are the full versions. Stuff that is never heard cause the gameplay always triggers other tracks. It's odd isn't it. It's not like that on any other episodes. Hoping it was just because it was also edited for Cinema too. I don't want it to be just music on top 2 channels, since the bottom 2 channels offered clean music when there was sfx on the top 2.

Yeah, it does seem odd. I initially thought it was something wrong with the copy I originally downloaded, so I waited a day for another copy to appear online but gave up after downloading two other copies of the episode that had the same 'problem'. Even this 'web download' version I have has the same 'problem'. I guess this has really limited you on how much of it you can actually edit clean? Still, hopefully when the Deep Breath DVD comes out they'll have fixed this, and if not, lets hope it doesn't persist throughout the series.

What was wrong with the bassline used?

He used one note from the Derbyshire theme over his own bassline. But to me if he is going to put in the original bassline. It should either be the whole thing or not at all. Not a little snippet of it that he can use to give his own more of a kick. The bassline in the theme is STILL too quiet and relies on the percussion and rhythm to make it sound like the iconic tune we all know and love.

I like the new theme. The more I listen to it, the better it sounds to me but there's still one or 2 things that could be changed or added to make it sound even better. I think Murray struggles with this.

I don't mind them. At the end of the day we are all watching for the episode and not for a 45 second Visual Graphics sequence. I like the fact that there doing something new. Clockwork gears and cogs haven't been used in any Title Sequence. I like the vortex ending sequence with the particles and cog in the centre rotating as the logo pops up.

Having been the person who actually uploaded that, I just tested it and it downloaded fine for me... So just keep trying. It is worth it to have the clean closing theme.

Mega works best with Chrome I have found. With Firefox I OFTEN get that error message.

The new theme needs more bass to give it more energy, apart from that I like it!

I think I like how it's not so...heavy.

It's just, weird.

I can reupload all of those, plus The Shakespeare Code, unless you found the original link and that still works.

Series 8 Theme Tune_Bassline (http://www.mediafire.com/listen/4j906aid7ozca1v/Series_8_Theme_Tune_Bassline.mp3)

This is the bassline Murray has used in his latest theme tune.

Doctor Who S8 Theme Tune (Improved Bass) (http://www.mediafire.com/listen/okkspnp1oi35yio/Doctor_Who_S8_Theme_Tune_(Improved_Bass).mp3)

I've added the bassline as It should sound.

So you can see differences in what Murray has done and what he really should do.

I'm rather impressed by that.

Such as the bit when the Torchwood theme randomly started playing?

Unfortunately I'm not able to rip anything from Into The Dalek. Once again theres no music on the bottom 2 channels. This sadly seems to be a regular thing now. And the music is full of sfx and echoed dialogue. Nothing capable of being listened too i'm afraid. To be honest the sound design on these 5.1 files is horrible. Music was very good though. When the daleks begin moving down the corridor, Murray Gold had a classic dalek music attack lol. lots of electronic stuff in there too.

That really is a shame, as I was actually hoping it wasn't like that, so you'd be able to at-least edit a decent amount of tracks clean from this series. I guess we just have to hope that it's not like that on the series 8 DVDs when they come out :/ (I'm still trying to find a 1080p 5.1 copy of Into the Dalek, to rip the music)

I'll hopefully (Once I find and download a 1080p 5.1 copy of the episode) post the music some time tomorrow.

Edit: I have now begun ripping the music!
