I got the Amy's Choice version from The Eternity Clock game. It plays in the Dalek spaceship level. It should get a release. I remember Murray saying 'music for important scenes or stand out scenes will be included on the albums'. Sadly Murray has gone against that statement because sooo many stand out scenes have not had its music released.
I just hope when I eventually hear Series 7 it won't have anything missing even though there isn't any TDTWATW or TS music. I think its probably obvious now what there planning.
Also Silva Screen replied about the omission of the new theme tune. They said its out of their hands and can not, at this moment in time, state whether it will be on any future release. They do, however, have other releases's planned for the end of 2013. Me thinks 50th & Christmas Special CD's ;)
Interesting about the theme omission.
I don't trust Murray Gold. He said (concerning the Series 1 & 2 soundtrack) that none of the music was recorded specifically for the album - yet CLEARLY it is! AND the "EXTENDED" version of the theme is hideous, the join is awful. They never put the full televised version of that theme on the album either. Thank god for the internet.

There is a 50th Anniversary Album coming that will have music from every Doctor's Era but I'm guessing Matt's will be represented by "I Am The Doctor" (perhaps the full version with the chorus). If Silva do indeed have more releases planned then it's possible we may see an Album for TDTWATW/The Snowmen together along with the soundtrack for the 50th in Early December and a Christmas Special Soundtrack to follow in late December or early 2014. That's a best case scenario. But something tells me that this won't happen. Or if it does, Silva will leave us waiting for months again.

Won't happen. And hold no happy thoughts for the 50th anniversary album either. All previous anniversary music compilation have tended to repeat the same tracks. The selection this time is unlikely to be much different. Certainly I don't expect to see any unreleased Gold tracks.

"I got one day with the National Orchestra of Wales to record the 45 minutes of music I needed for the Christmas Special, and used the afternoon of that day to re-record some of my favourite cues from Series One, which I also used in the second series, and eventually to make the soundtrack album." - Murray Gold, Interview in June 2007 Issue of Sound on Sound magazine.

To say its called "The Snowmen", TDTWATW seems to be overshadowing it. I guess a lot of the music from Snowmen was on the Series 7 album but still... 19 for TDTWATW seems a bit much considering Snowmen only has 13. 16 each may have been better.

Maybe the lack of theme on the CD is so that royalties don't have to be shared with the estate of Ron Grainer? By my count there are eight CD albums of Gold's Who music and the theme only appears on three of them. Perhaps it would be an idea to make the versions of the theme available as downloads on iTunes? Maybe someone who can Twitter could suggest it to whoever might make it happen?
About the 50th Anniversary album, it probably will be simply a compilation of available tracks but Silva do have form on taking a different approach. They did a "Best of Thunderbirds" album, collecting tracks from their two Thunderbirds CDs but they also included a couple of previously unreleased tracks as well, to ensure a healthy level of double dipping!

Wait Jeremy Holland-Smith composed the music for TDTWATW or was it a Collaboration with Murray? Also Ben Foster composed the Snowmen. Thats not entirely true. On twitter me and a youtuber tweeted to Murray, Jake & Silva screen many times about the Silence battle music never being released on previous albums when Murray initially thought it already had. If you read the Series 6 Booklet he credits twitter users for their determination to have a track that he originally thought was released and apologized saying that, it indeed, rounded off the soundtrack nicely.

According to someone in-the-know at Gallifrey Base, it was taken down because it was put up slightly too early. The information provided was provisional and they weren't quite ready to reveal it yet. The release date is said to be correct, though.

I guess it could be a matter of, they were creating the page on the website and they accidentally made the page active, so they had to remove it. The scheduled release date is good news. Hope it says as 21st October. Perfect music to listen to to get us in the mood for the 50th.

Yeah, Majestic Tale is a remix of the score for originally for Pandorica Opens/Big Bang but used for Amy's Choice. They just added guitars and percussion in the dub for Day Of The Moon.
I really hope they add the I Am The Doctor music from the scene when The tree's enter madges head, its reused in Rings Of Arkhaten, Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS, Crimson Horror. I've called it Acid Rain on my unofficial soundtrack.
And, yeah, it should be in between Your Fired & Flying Home For Christmas. Or it might be part of Your Fired.
It all depends when we see the track times.

I'm still here...
A few security issues got me scared... I've unfortunately been the victim of online fraud and even had people in the DW sharing community create damning evidence against me to tarnish my name and efforts... So when such things crop up, I tend to run a mile. But it seems the bad egg has been been identified and protective measures taken, and it didn't seem right to 'punish' others with my absence as a result.
I'll still be leaving it to Scotty57 (with a big thank you) to upload my scores as they are remastered - to allow me more time work on the music, and hopefully get everything remastered by 23rd November for a huge celebratory release of 'The Music of Doctor Who (1963-2013)'.
This is a great community, and I have made many friends here - long may it continue!

Good to see you back mate.

Hi, um I wondered if anyone has or could upload Doctor Who Series 5, 6 and A Christmas Carol soundtracks with cover arts and stuff, just like DrMatt1974 did for the Russell T Davies era of Doctor Who - I would be extremely grateful for any help.
Thank You :)

Is anyone else disappointed with how they handled the choral pieces from The Rings of Akhaten on the S7 album? I literally cannot listen to "God of Akhaten" because of Merry Gejelh's singing, which goes off in a completely separate direction (oh god of... oh god of... oh god of... oh god of etc. etc.) instead of following the choir more closely. I just can't sit through the song without getting annoyed and turning it off. "The Long Song" isn't as bad, but it would've been a lot better off without the 45-second lyricless "ah-ah-ah" section towards the end. It's very out of place.
Honestly, I would've been much happier with a studio version of "Rings of Akhaten" from the Proms. The album's excellent otherwise.

It's presented almost exactly as it was in the episode (the only difference being that Merry's lyrics have been lowered in the mix slightly to be closer to the volume of the choir). Surely you knew what it would sound like from having heard it on the show?

Do you mean a narration of the novel? Or the musical score by Dudley Simpson?
If the latter, I'm afraid very few of Simpson's scores now exist. Certainly, this one doesn't. The nearest you'll get (at present, anyway) is the Heathcliff Blair album This one! (

Full remaster of Logopolis - a bit of a job - 134 cues... Contains over 2 minutes of material not on previous edition - missing cues reinstated and both versions of each cliffhanger/recap music. Includes CD2 (mono music cues) for the first time. Track titles and divides differ somewhat from my previous edition, and I've included a mix of the regeneration music from this year's DW Prom, with Paddy's original version overlayed. N.B. Due to the maximum track count for CDs being 99, some consecutive cues on CD2 have been made into single tracks. If burning to CD, burn from FLAC using the CUE sheet provided, which includes index points at the cue divides within tracks.

Over the past few months since the end of 2012, I've been cleaning unreleased tracks from Series 1 - 7 as best as I can so no sound effects or voices break through.
Below Is the first selection of tracks from various 10th Doctor episodes:

Anti-Gravity Clamps.mp3 (
http://www.mediafire.com/?1t15h6fvj794a0c) - Planet Of The Dead, An orchestral version of Corridors And Fire Escapes with the new section first heard in Series 4's The Stolen Earth.
UNIT Arrive.mp3 (
http://www.mediafire.com/?dejq7vesqa407yg) - Planet Of The Dead, This was a rearranged variation of the UNIT Theme which has only ever been heard In this episode.
Gadget Getaway.mp3 (

We Have To Go!.mp3 (
http://www.mediafire.com/?tltvqox9agj6dpw) - The Waters Of Mars, The Doctor & Adelaide run from the Flood infected crew of Bowie Base One.
The Master Race.mp3 (

jury's still out on whether or not 'You're Fired' has that part
edit: and 'Interrogation' was also included in the Rings of Akhaten, by the sound of it

Amazon have just uploaded the samples for each track: Doctor Who: The Snowmen / The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe (Original Television Soundtrack): Murray Gold: Amazon.co.uk: MP3 Downloads (
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-Wardrobe-Television-Soundtrack/dp/B00FG9AX1Q/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1380291944&sr=8-4&keywords=doctor+who+the+snowmen+soundtrack)
About to have a listen myself :D
It seems pretty good so far. Can't wait for the full release. And unless my ears decieve me, it seems the action track heard in The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe and most of Series Seven is present on the Soundtrack. At least it sounds like the start of it in "You're Fired".

If you have heard my Acid Rain track i made. The preview ends right where my version starts and the epic music your hoping for is someway more into the track.
---------- Post added at 05:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:08 PM ----------
What bugs me is 2 tracks that i feel don't really need to be on there and could be replaced with another track, these 2 are:
22. Psychotic Potato Dwarf - is practically Thomas Thomas but with more orchestra input.
31. Clara Lives - sounds exactly like Remember Me but even more quiet and muffled. Unless its the asylum version in which case there REALLY Isn't any point in its release.

Like I said, Murray prefers the gentler music on a CD compared to the loud epic music. But i'm on your side, I would have loved the remix of Pteradactyls, especially since its the snowmen version that was used in episodes like hide.

Baubles seems to be a track with a lot of unused new music. It was originally going to be used for the scene when lily touches the tree and the bauble grows, as the title gives away, but the edit of the episode decided to use no music for that scene.
When the sample starts to build up that's from when the doctor says to lily: "I'm so sorry Lily but there is something very wrong in this forest, and your brothers right in the middle of it".

Doctor Who: Castrovalva
Soundtrack by Paddy Kingsland
BBC Radiophonic Workshop
Remastered 2xCD version - a much easier job than 'Logopolis' so few cues that a unmixed CD almost seemed unecessary, but it is provided, nonetheless. Changes from previous edition - end excerpt now sampled from deleted scenes (so no background music), a nasty dropout in the 'Four to Doomsday' music suite fixed, and an introductory excerpt now included for the track. Full remastered CD art.

The Ultra Sonic Perception and the Impress/Inter Art albums are rarer than virgins in a maternity ward and I have been searching for these for many years. I've shared what library music etc I've managed to find over the years right here in this community.
My other hope was to track down other productions that these library tracks were used in and see if clean versions can somehow be lifted or created using those or a combination of sources. [My skills as an audio technician are rather limited, but I'd hope others would chip in their expertise for a good cause].
Whilst there are websites that list where library tracks have been used in movies (although not many of Siday's have), I haven't found any websites that list TV programmes' use of them to any useful degree. (If you are interested in the movie approach to finding library tracks, I recommend Find Your movie soundtrack and listen it online | RingosTrack (
http://www.ringostrack.com) . I'm trying track down some of the music in the Quatermass serials as a side project, and this site has helped with info).
The trouble with the above approach has been that only a portion of a track listed seems to be used in Who, so identifying by listening can be difficult to do.

Call me stupid but, what episodes (and where in the episodes) was the 'You're Fired' action piece used
Well It was used In the following episodes:
The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe - When Madge absorbs the life force of the forest.
The Rings Of Arkhaten - When The Mummy wakes up and the doctor fights the vigil.
Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS - When Tricky hangs on the side of the walk way and him and Gregor turn into Time Zombies.
The Crimson Horror - When The Doctor says "Attack of the supermodels" and Jenny fights them, also plays again when Mrs Gillyflower holds Ada at gun point and The Doctor & Clara chase after her up the giant Chimney with the rocket.
As you can see, this action piece has been reused almost as much as I Am The Doctor, So you can see why its one of the most wanted tracks to be released and now it is, everyone should be very happy. I Am :)

In this overhaul the soundtracks will be presented by Doctor and by episode for quick and easy searching. In case a soundtrack features more than 1 Doctor/Episode it can be listed both at the end under the heading 'Official releases' or with the appropriate Doctor or even both. Just use your CTRL-F and type the Episode name and you will find it.
This is based on a great Excel list that Recons gave me and with added information from Doctor Who Magazine.
Note: If you dont see an episode among the list it is either because it does not have a soundtrack release (fan, official or otherwise) or because we are still working on the list. Just let us know what you saw as missing and/or wrong and we will change it :)
Enjoy!

As I understand it (I may be wrong), Murray doesn't have the orchestra long enough to record a complete 45 minutes of new material for every episode so he has to record as much as he can, thus some episodes get more new material than others; finales, openers and certain episodes like Nightmare In Silver get more focus than others. Thus, quite a lot of episodes need to rely on reused material so Murray often writes action music, sad music, scary music and the like that can be used for most episodes. This is music like "I am the Doctor" and such. You can't complain about music being reused because Murray literally cannot record enough music for every episode to have a unique complete score. Don't forget Doctor Who is also working on a tight budget.

I understand that much... but if you can't get the orchestra for long enough, why not do some electronic stuff? I mean, the whole score doesn't have to be orchestral! The majority of Series 1 was electronics-based and it was great...

He does a lot of electronic stuff. All of the original score from Journey to the Center of the TARDIS was recorded electronically. Murray talks about this in the liner notes for the album. When they can't afford/don't have time to use the orchestra, Murray writes it electronically.
I get the feeling that's a part of the reason not so much of the episode's music ended up on the album. They seem to want to get as much of the full orchestra on the albums as he can. I suspect that's why a lot of the really good stuff from episodes like Smith and Jones never ended up on an album.

The variations of ATTSSC for sure.
In fact a great deal of Series 3 had some of my favourite music especially 42, The Sound of Drums and The Last of the Timelords!
The Doctor
10-02-2013, 05:36 AM
Yeah, there's a lot of great stuff from Series 3 that got left out, and a lot of that was electronically created.
My favorite missing track is still the music when the Judoon arrive on the moon in Smith and Jones. That music is awesome, but I'm pretty sure that's the only time that music was ever used, and there's a lot of electronic elements in it.
I also wish we could have gotten the version of All the Strange Strange Creatures from 42, when the Doctor is hanging outside the airlock trying to magnetize the escape pod. I love that version. I have an episode rip of it somewhere, but it's almost impossible to get it sans sound effects.

FX? And, did you incorporate the clean master tape tracks?
Some are clean from DVD Rips of the 5.1 surround sound mix. You would be surprised. Most of Series 1 the bottom music channels were completely clean of voices and sound effects. They changed it up for Series 2 and beyond. Some of them are the master tapes yes and some edits too.
I'll do a Series 2 one shortly as well if people want.
Also with the master tapes, i've corrected which episodes they come from. Not all are in this compilation and most of the master tapes come from Bad Wolf & Parting Of The Ways.

These tracks are from the Master Tapes series 1, clean of any fx and great clarity:
Running, Running! (The Westminster Bridge track minus the zoom in)
Seeking The Doctor
Clockwork TARDIS (Also called So Alien on some lists)
Platform 1
Goodbye Earth
The Unquiet Dead
Aliens Of London
World War Three
Target: Number Ten Downing Street
The Last Dalek
Power Of The Dalek (Also Called Battling The Dalek in some lists)
The Long Game
Father's Day (A different suite than the official album one)
The Tylers
I Am Your Mummy! (the gas mask child in yours, I'd bet)
Everybody Lives
Cardiff
Boom town (Again, not the same as the OST)
My Dalek Masters
Deadly Games
Bad Wolf
Dalek Danger
Vortex
Heart Of The TARDIS
The Parting Of The Ways (Not the OST suite)
In addition, I compiled this set, with the OST and the "unreleased" clean tracks to an extended series one track and posted it pages back. ALL of it includes what you've listed, I think. My set is 57 tracks, 103 minutes and **mostly** clean. The rose episode is a bi tmuffled. The Slitheen stuff is clean, and more or less listenable. The rest is pristine.

Boom town (Again, not the same as the OST)
My Dalek Masters
Deadly Games
Bad Wolf (When Rose realises Bad Wolf has been following her and we get the montage of all the clues)
Dalek Danger (Not sure about this one, never played in Bad Wolf Or Parting Of The Ways)
Vortex (Again never played, I can only think this is a demo track for I'm Coming To Get You)
Heart Of The TARDIS (This track is from the Cliffhanger of Bad Wolf with the montage of Daleks shouting exterminate)
I've edited your post above to show you which tracks are actually from what and what scene. Yeah I listen to murrays music so much I can remember which scene they all played In lol

So a couple of nights ago I went back to watch The Girl in the Fireplace again. I haven't seen it in a few years. It holds up really well, is still one of my favorites, and I think it features some of Murray Gold's best work to date. The music is tonally very similar to Murray's work on Casanova (another sadly unreleased score).
Random fact: I liked The Girl in the Fireplace so much that, shortly after seeing it back in 2006, I settled on Reinette as the name I'd like to give my future daughter.

A special edition of the last classic Doctor Who DVD to get an isolated score. This edition has 8 minutes of additional music cut from the official (now deleted) CD release. Cues not used in the final TV mix, but included on the official CD have been mixed in where appropriate, making it as complete a version of this soundtrack as possible. Thanks for the correction, i was confused on how it was pronounced when typed. Yes Ghost Shift is the Torchwood theme and there's another track, not on that list, called Lets Watch The Fireworks which has another variation of the Torchwood theme. There's also a lot of orchestral Cybermen theme's too.

The Ultra Sonic Perception and the Impress/Inter Art albums are rarer than virgins in a maternity ward and I have been searching for these for many years. I've shared what library music etc I've managed to find over the years right here in this community.
Hello. I'm new to this forum but google just made me aware of your search. I own a copy of the Ultra Sonic Perception 78. I was just looking for some more info on it and happened upon your conversation.
I'm a record collector with an interest in library music. I found this particular 10" approximately 6 months ago in a second hand record shop in Southport, UK. I'd been digging in there for hours and just as I was about to leave I decided to ask the owner if he had anything "weird and electronic". He pulled a box out from under a shelf and passed me this. I know the Conroy label and was aware of this Waxidermy post Eric Siday ? Musique Electronique | Waxidermy (
http://waxidermy.com/eric-siday-musique-electronique) so knew I was onto something good.
I'd be more than happy to share the music with you. However, I'll need some help. My turntable plays 78's but I do not have the necessary cartridge. And I don't want to damage the record by playing it with my standard one. So let me know if you have any suggestions. I live in east London and could potentially meet up with someone who could do the digital transfer?

I must ask re the series 1 clean music, where is the last 5 mins of parting of the ways, when the doctor is absorbing the time vortex, right up until the scene when rose and the doctor are in the tardis shortly before the regeneration....I find it hard to believe its not been released officaily, but anything you guys can do or have would be greatly appreciated, i have a really poor quality version from a vocal removal test using audacity but its not the same...

Well, that's the thing now, isn't it? According to the series 1 liner notes, the track that was written for that scene was replaced with a cue from elsewhere. IF it was an editorial move at the last moment, the actual cue as heard may not exist in a releasable form.....or, more likely, is part of another track, and thus "released", but not properly labeled or isolated....

Chris4ord: I feel like that music has been released, but maybe I'm wrong. I think it's split up across multiple tracks on the first album (Rose Deats the Daleks, I'm Coming to Get You, Hologram, et cetera). It's all been re-recorded for the CD, as none of the original electronically created recordings from series 1 seem to have made it onto the album.

Oh boy, there are so many cues which were edited together in series 1-3! I found it annoying when they would layer tracks in scenes where the music became confusing.
Also the theme in "Start Worrying" from the master tapes of series 1& 2 is featured in a scene in Parting of the Ways and The Satan Pit which wasn't released anywhere possibly because it too was a compiled cue. The only place one could find that is in the DVD menu Scene Selections for the series one discs.

Hopefully with The Next Doctor included. ;)
From series 3, what I really feel like we must have at some point is the complete version of The Doctor Forever. I was so disappointed with that track on the official album. The best part of the cue is missing (it appears at the end of The Family of Blood two parter. That grand, sweeping conclusion and the solo horn bit is all missing from the album).

I must say re series 1 absorbing time vortex from rose before regeneration music really isn't out there. Only thing that comes close is on the series 1 full series DVD box set menu but this has added sfx that don't appear even in the scene.

It's not Murray's decision to make. He does not have the legal rights to offer albums on his own. We must turn to Silva to get on the bandwagon, and they've made it clear they have zero interest at the time.

Ready for your "holy shit!" news of the day?
According to the Mirror (
http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/106-doctor-who-episodes-uncovered-2343474), 106 episodes of the classic series have been unearthed in Ethiopia. For those not keeping count, that's the exact number of episodes still missing.
If this is true, if the BBC really have discovered the rest of the deleted episodes... then this is huge news.

Nice to meet you mate, and thanks! Your record is in safe hands. It took me a while to figure out how to play it because I took it out of the case and realised it was made of vinyl and not the expected (fragile) shellac... which turns out to be a good thing, because after a quick bath in vinyl detergent it's playing awfully well.
Hopefully will get it finished tonight.

This was heaps of fun! Never worked with a 78rpm record made of vinyl before - this has lower surface noise and overall better quality than expected, although a few patches on Side B didn't come out too well. It was pretty grubby but responded nicely to a cleaning with standard vinyl record cleaner - whatever you don't do, don't ever put that stuff on shellac records because it MELTS THEM!
I tested four different stylii before settling on .0028" - giving the best signal and the lowest noise. The record is in pretty good nick but not perfect - not bad for fifty-three years old, though. I've done a bit of NR and filtering but have opted to not remove every noise there is in order to preserve the sound quality - which is exceedingly good for a 78rpm disc! Equalised with a standard RIAA curve appropriate to the era.

What exactly is the "Ultra Sonic Perception"?
I'm guessing it's sound effects?

As far as I know, this is ancient library music that was featured in the first couple of series' of Doctor Who.

Nope. It's music :P
From the guy whose music was used very often in Doctor Who in 60's.
Although that particular single was never used, it's something marvelous anyway as there are only two tracks used in DW available in digital format.

None of these are used in the series, right? Eric Siday certainly did have quite a few effect sounds used in the '60s episodes. Moonscape and Hypnosis are the only tracks we otherwise have. Not really sure what's missing from his library.

It's music, not effects. There's a good guide here under 'Stock Music': Millennium Effect (
http://www.millenniumeffect.co.uk/) . The Ultra Sonic Perception is a title that goes across many records. But you're right that this particular record has not been used in Who. It's still great to have some of Eric Siday's hard to find work.
I never thought I'd see the time where we get DrMatt's excellent releases (and re-releases), (the extremely hard to find) Daemos Rising, and one of the Ultra Sonic Perception records. What an anniversary year this has turned out to be for Classic Who music! Thank you to all concerned.

I've only just discovered DrMatt1974's releases.
Wow!
Incredible!
I'm looking through this thread for all his FLAC goodies, but, unfortunately, most, if not all of the Peeje.com links are dead...
And it's so tantalising to see stuff like Seeds of Doom, but not being able to get at them!
Any chance of re-ups in the future? Very much appreciated!

You're in for a treat, then. I believe he's re-doing them all for the anniversary, so all you've got to do is stick around. Welcome to the wonderful world of Who Music, DavidRaphael!

Many, many thanks to Doveholes and Tangotreats for the Eric Siday transfer it is absolutely brilliant. Im a keen listener and collector of early library music as well and this is a great find and so selflessly shared too, that's what a community is all about. Well done to you both. I tend to lurk here rather than contribute but on this occasion I just had to say something.
