Torrent Trouble: Demonoid Resurrected Or Massive Malware Scam? (http://www.ibtimes.com/torrent-trouble-demonoid-resurrected-or-massive-malware-scam-1248487)

It might be a scam, take caution.

There WAS a "Scam" version of the site that went up. It was riddled with pop-up ads no matter how many pages you went through (unlike most torrent sites where there might be one or two per visit, no matter how many items you search or pages you click on).

But there is now a new site, and news stories cropping up about its legitimacy...but whether it will last or be able to expand and provide such greatness as its predecessor, remains to be seen...

Dr Matt, is there a soundtrack for trial of a timelord?
Thanks

I know I'm not DrMatt, but I don't think there is an official soundtrack for Trial of a Timelord as a whole, I have some of the music, but it's from the Photo Galleries on the DVD releases. There is "Black Light - The Doctor Who Music of Dominic Glynn", it has music from "The Mysterious Planet", "The Ultimate Foe" and "Dragonfire". There's no isolated score on the DVDs so I guess those are your best options happy searching!

I'm not DrMatt either!:-)

In addition to what dragonOllie15 says above, the score to Terror of the Vervoids has not been released in any form other than the suite on the DVD. The score to Mindwarp is currently missing, and the recent rumours that it had been found have been dismissed on Roobarbs.

It's worth noting that the Black Light release suffers from sound distortion.

Hopefully a Trial release will be forthcoming from Silva Screen at some point in the near future. (The next Silva release is Ghost Light).

I'm not sure if this means we are getting it sooner than we think but some new information on the Series 7 Soundtrack release was revealed. Halia Meguid, who was the singer for the siren's song and did vocal talent for A Town Called Mercy & The Angels Take Manhatten, was interviewed by whoviannet about her experience on the music of doctor who.
At one point whoviannet asked:

Q: Do you know anything about the Doctor Who Series 7 soundtrack release?
A: Murray has compiled the soundtrack for Doctor Who Series 7, he says its his favourite so far, I've heard it and im inclined to agree.

Does this mean we could see the Series 7 soundtrack released sooner than october as it was with the Series 5 & 6 soundtracks. Though it's been mentioned once or twice that Series 7 will get 2 seperate release's for part 1 & part 2.
Could this mean that since Halia was only heard in Series 7 Part 1 that the soundtrack with music from The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe up to Angels Take Manhatten is the only one murray has managed to mix together so far.
I doubt, if series 7 gets 2 release's that, he has compiled both soundtracks by now. Series 7 Part 2 has only just finished.

My guess for release date would be around about the end of July, early august. The Doctor Who Prom is on 13th July and im sure will showcase some tracks from Series 7 with there offical track names, so i guess the soundtrack would be released sometime after the prom.

What are your thoughts on this?

Hmmm. As I recall, the original score for Part One of "The Mark of the Rani" by the late John Lewis was included on the disc as an alternate option. Anyone have that? I'd be very grateful if someone could provide MP3s/WAVs of it.

So, more news about Series 7 soundtrack? Im assuming we'll get 2 CD's again, part 1 and 2 of the series.

And it's pretty obvious we'll have a full soundtrack of the 50th Anniversary special, which will be BIG.

Ive noticed a lot of people in this thread keep mentioning about an official soundtrack release of The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe and since its starting to seem unlikely we will get one, I've decided to compile an unofficial suite of tracks together from the Christmas Special.

I've compiled them from various episodes such as: Journey To The Centre Of The Tardis, The Crimson Horror, The Rings Of Akhaten and more, where they have been reused from the special. Most of the tracks are clean and maybe one of two sound effects remain as I couldn't remove them.

Typically, after uploading it all, I found myself really not liking the AlbumArt, so slightly redesigned it...

As I stand here waiting for my time to come,
I follow in your footsteps, I follow when you run

From the jaws of disaster;
From a planet besieged
By deadly ancient foes...

And you still make me smile
When you stop and turn and say:
This is a creature we can understand,
A living being, it is just being,
If we could find what’s on its mind
Then perhaps we might survive.

And as we stumble down our slow road
I can’t but wonder what would it be like
To run away with you through time,
Where would we go who might we find.
But on we go, cutting our paths,
Only one way, one day at a time,
While you embrace the universe,
Spinning your way on the fast road,
Limitless endless...

So my dear friend you’re getting kinda old now
(Or maybe we are).
And now our children watch you do the deeds
We marvelled at - wondered at...

From the jaws of disaster,
From a planet besieged
By deadly ancient foes...

It’s not the end yet
There is no end...

Fumbling and bumbling while all around is
Crumbling and stumbling through time
Like you’re a mad man
Still it’s humbling to watch you
Reconcile divergent creeds
Without succumbing to the lure of
Weapons, force or greed
You only use intelligence
And jokes and charm.

Happy Birthday. Doctor. You.

I'm surprised no one has moaned about the slight distortion on the loud parts of some tracks (most noticeable during 'Song for Fifty'). I did the mixing work on speakers not headphones, and it was only when listening to it on my MP3 player yesterday that I noticed (curses!)

So I've been on a (successful) hunt for a better quality recording of the concert, and will be doing the cutdown job all over again (with no distortion). Don't know how it occurred - checked all settings and did many test records beforehand. Maybe the broadcast volume for the Prom was much higher than the previous programme on Radio 3 - who knows.

Anyway, apologies. In light of this, I've taken the FLAC links down until I can post the fixed version, which I will be working on today, so hopefully within 24 hours.

EDIT: Just finished mixing the fixed version, putting in a bit more effort with creative applause mixing - much happier with this version. But the odd background voice heard during quiet patches is even clearer here - and I think I've worked out the cause: Mr Briggs didn't have his microphone turned right down - naughty naughty! I definitely heard 'stairs' mentioned at some point lol! Worth listening out for on headphones!

Now time to convert, tag and re-upload... I think I'll put together some full album art for this - deserves it.

Is there a recording of the Sunday performance available anywhere? I was there on Sunday and some parts sounded a hell of a lot better than they do on the Saturday radio show. The Tomb of the Cybermen section in particular was amazing on Sunday and I looked forward to hearing it again on a download of Saturday's show, but when I heard it it was very weak in comparison. Did anyone else notice this? Is it a result of the radio broadcast being mixed oddly? Or was there no damn difference and I just imagined it?

Peter Davison was certainly better on Sunday, more spontaneous and not trying so hard to follow the autocue. Poor old Carole Ann Ford seemed to be struggling both days though! Bit overwhelmed I think!

For me the Rings of Akhaten was not a good episode but hearing that music live was wonderful. Great ending for the first half.

IMHO the Song for 50 was a mistake. It desperately needed to have an accompanying video montage of series clips playing alongside, without that it was just an unfamiliar piece of music effectively unconnected to Doctor Who in any way. Not even any monsters roaming the auditorium were there? Maybe a couple of Ood standing still by the side of the stage IIRC? Poor choice for near the end of the concert. Personally I hope that they do NOT waste any CD space on it when the Series 7 discs are compiled.

ETA: Just to be clear I do LOVE Murray's music for Who, bought ALL the CDs and been to ALL the Proms, but I do feel the Song for 50 was a pretty major mis-step.

I imagine Song for 50 will end up on an Anniversary album, not the Series 7 soundtrack (Silva Screen are supposed to be releasing something like 7 albums this year, two of which have already landed). I haven't listened to Song for 50 yet, but I'm quite keen on the notion of Murray doing a cue to celebrate the history of the show. Looking forward to hearing it.

Dr. Matt, thanks for all the effort you've put in this far!

Daleks, Cybermen and more to land at Heathrow Airport in Doctor Who takeover

Aliens rather than airlines descend on airport in promotional stunt

As if the fear of lost baggage and strip searches weren’t scary enough, Heathrow airport is to be invaded by Daleks, Cybermen and all manner of other Doctor Who oddities this week in a bid to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary internationally.

From tomorrow, passengers travelling through Heathrow will have to navigate aliens, props, TARDIS photobooths and – for launch day only – the London Philharmonic Orchestra, who will be performing themes from the show in Terminal 5. Doctor Who novelist Jenny Colgan, author of the recently released Doctor Who: Dark Horizons, will also be signing books for fans on the day.

The takeover, a partnership between BBC Worldwide and Heathrow, is aimed at promoting the show as both Britain’s cultural identity and best export with visitors from 180 destinations around the world.

Other such attempts have previously included a light projection show at the Vivid Festival in Sydney, and a sell-out pop up shop and commemorative Tardis coins in New Zealand. This weekend, the show once again heads to the US, as Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman and showrunner Steven Moffat attend a panel at San Diego Comic Con.

Speaking of the Heathrow promotion, Moffat said: “We are delighted to announce another extension to Heathrow's world-beating facilities - all of space and time in a stylish blue box, complete with phone. Heathrow with time travel - nobody need ever be late again.”

In an interview for Den of Geek, Doctor Who composer Murray Gold has stated that the 50th Anniversary Special of the show "might be controversial"...

Gold had this to say on the content of the special:

"There's some really interesting things to say about that but I can't say them. It's very, very well directed. There's a thing they've done in it, which might be controversial… It's interesting though."

The composer also talked about composing the 50th Anniversary song "Song for 50" and playing it at the Proms:

"I stood up in front of the choir last night, and they rehearsed it. Neither Ben [Foster, conductor] or I had heard it. I delivered all of the score to Ben a couple of weeks before. It took me a month to do it. I never get a month on any piece of music.

I thought, 'If I were to write a song for the fiftieth anniversary, what would it be?' And I thought about something more modernist, more complicated, more knotty, more serious but no, in the end, seriousness isn't about how complicated something is, or how difficult something is to do. Seriousness is about the quality of your perception and your feeling.
I started playing something on the piano and then recorded it, with me singing over the top; just simple. I kept that recording and over a month I orchestrated it and wrote all of the words.

I wanted to write about The Doctor and everything that I've talked about in interviews, since I started on the job, about this character that I love. I took a line from The Girl in the Fireplace about the 'slow road'. It's a song that constantly juxtaposes all of us in the Royal Albert Hall as being on the slow road, taking life one day, one month at a time - with no escape from that.

And there's The Doctor, whizzing around, at his whim and to some extent we're condemned. And this is a fifty year chunk of time where we've been experiencing this fantasy of being able to fly through time. During that time, some of us have had kids, some of us have lost people, some of us have grown extra family members but everybody in that hall will have one way or another to relate to that idea.

By the third verse, where the tenor says, 'So, my dear friend. You're getting kind of old now,' we're actually talking about this person who's been in our lives as a reference point. People, in all kinds of the moments in their lives, have said, 'I wish I could be The Doctor and just go back and fix it. Fix it.'

The song came together really well. I'm playing the piano, I'm going to try to. It's gonna be quite moving, it's a very emotional."

Many thanks (as always) for the latest upload! Just listening to it now.

To be utterly pedantic, track 9 on CD1 is an excerpt from the Toccata and Fugue (they only played the toccata section). :P

Cheers for that - going to start work on the CD art soon, and nice to have all the correct info - so should I call it "Toccata in D minor, BWV565" or "Excerpt from Toccata & Fugue in D minor, BWV565" or something else?

And what the hell does BWV565 mean - anyone?

going by wikipedia

The Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis (Bach Works Catalogue) is the numbering system identifying compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach. The prefix BWV, followed by the work's number, is the shorthand identification for Bach's compositions. The works are grouped thematically, not chronologically.

Bach wrote 5 toccata and fugues (although there is some debate about whether he really did write this particular one). You could add the "in D minor" to narrow it down (although he wrote 2 in D minor). The "BWV 565" identifies it exclusively.

But as this is his most famous one, I'd be tempted to just go with "Toccata from Bach's Toccata and Fugue"

Thanks for the info guys - I'll get the CD art sorted tomorrow.

But in the meantime, here's a little bonus - some DW Prom Extras!...

The Radio 3 Classical Music review show 'In Tune' interviewed Murray Gold this week. The interview is available as a Mono 64kbps MP3 download, but I've compiled all of the DW related parts of the show, including the introduction and 2 music tracks:

1. 'In Tune' - Introduction (Original Delia theme & voiceover announcements about show and Murray Gold interview)
2. Gustav Holst - The Planets: Mars (Preceded and led into the Murray Gold interview, and as it's the theme to 'Quatermass' and was performed at a former DW Prom, it seemed apt to include, conducted by the recently departed Sir Colin Davis, performed by London Symphony Orchestra)
3. 'In Tune' - Murray Gold Interview (Duration: 9 minutes)
4. Murray Gold - Vale Decem (Short Album Version)

Total Duration: 20'08

Tracks are numbered, titled and tagged to fit snugly at the end of CD2.

I'm very touched - by this and the kind words from everyone. Thank you! I try to do my best, but I've been a bit slack on the Doctor Who soundtrack front for the first half of this anniversary year - health and bad living circumstances getting in the way of much creativity. But I'm now moved to a nice little bungalow with lots of green space around, my health is improving and the creative juices are starting to flow again! I hope to be releasing some nice celebratory stuff this year - this Prom being a good way to start!

And news from Silva Screen today...

Doctor Who: Series 7 Soundtrack 2xCD to be released in the autumn...

Ghost Light with extra material - could it be the missing cues I reinserted into my Special Edition?... Lol! (9.49, released on 26th August - which may well be the date for the other releases too.)

and... Series 1 & 2 Vinyl 500 limited edition copies (24.99)

The series 7 soundtrack definitely looks different from what I expected. Plus, I was kinda wondering what the next Classic Who album was gonna be. "Ghost Light" seems to be an interesting choice. I look forward to it, because the arrangement of the theme from Seven's era has been growing on me since listening to the BF audios.

Dr 7's theme sounds much better on the TV episodes. On the BF audios, they leave off the sound effects track - makes it sound kinda empty.

Never knew about the alternate score for episode one - any other info on this like why it exists, what it is? New one on me.

Did someone mention 'State of Decay'?...

Lol! It's finally happening - along with a newly remastered from scratch 2xCD edition of another story from that season...

And I thought as it's anniversary year - a good time for competitions and goodies... So, I've decided to open with this:

Whoever first guesses the Season 18 story (barring 'State of Decay') that I am currently remastering, will get sent a fully professionally printed copy of the 2xCD set, along with a story of their choice from my range - no matter where you live in the world (but allowing 28 days for delivery, aka DrMatt getting his CD burning act together!). Happy Anniversary to you all!

Answers here in the forum not PMs so there can be no cheating!

Really? I kinda like it both ways. It does have a very 80s kinda vibe to it, though.

Hehehehe! The first person to make a guess gets it right and wins the CD! Might I make a guess at what your personal choice would be - one with vampires possibly? If I get the time, I'm hoping to get all of Season 18 re-mastered into 2xCD sets, just not in story order. I wasn't going to say, but State of Decay is also getting the same 'remastered from scratch' treatment for it's imminent fixed re-release (within a few days - yes I know I said that before, but this time I mean it!).

I'll PM you to arrange as safe and secure a delivery of your prize as possible.

How about a proper DW Music competition, with me as the Question Master? Any takers? One quiz a month, each with a different slant (eg 60s stock music, 80s radiophonics, Murray Gold, etc.). 20 questions plus one creative question at the end in case of tie-breaks (eg "If I had a TARDIS for a day, I would...") - the one that entertains me the most wins!

I think you need to read the proceeding posts - Richard Baker guessed right instantly - Logopolis. New 2xCD Special Editions of that and State of Decay both to be released very soon.

Been thinking on this quiz idea and realised that answers to standard written questions about DW composers, music, etc, would all be easily researchable and answerable through the powers of Google. So it wouldn't be a true test of people's DW Music knowledge, more your ability to hunt out information online. So I thought the best way to do it would be musically, with each competition comprising of a mini album mix of Doctor Who music, each track with an associated question (eg: What story is this from? Who composed this track? In what story was this piece of music first heard?). Answers can then be PMd to me before a closing date, winner announced the day after, the prize being 2 professionally printed DM DW CDs of your choice. But competitions need competitors, so I need to know if anyone would be interested in this - so please let me know here or by PM.

I missed this too! I did mention the possibility of unreleased soundtracks from BBV DW audios (not videos) but it's not an imminent project - some negotiations are needed that still have yet to happen.

As for Daemos Rising soundtrack - I'm always looking and asking. Hopefully one day it will turn up.

Doctor Who - 112 - State of Decay
Original Television Soundtrack by Paddy Kingsland
BBC Radiophonic Workshop (1980)

It may have been a long wait, but I finally got there! (Those are the words I want carved on my gravestone!)

A fully 'remastered from scratch' version of the State of Decay score - with reinstated missing cue, manual removal of over 100 high range clicks (turned a 3 hour job into a 16 hour all-nighter!), better stereo spatial effects, and an additional sound effect (created from a reasonably clean 'beat' from the main audio track from the story).

I hope it was worth the wait! One of Paddy Kingsland's best scores imho - and also a cracking good story. Enjoy!

DIFFERENCES TO PREVIOUS RELEASE:

- Slightly more and different track divides, that make the music more as was originally heard on screen. Certain cues followed each other on the iso-score, and on my previous version, I separated them, adding silences between them

- Missing cue reinstated : On CD1 - the last 10 seconds of "03 - The Time of Selection"; on CD2: "04 - No Promises"

- Extended track: "Carnivorous Bats" - the cliffhanger music at the end of Part 1 differs - in musical arrangement and pitch - to the recap at the beginning of Part 2. On the previous release, I just mixed into and used the Part 2 version. For this release, I have used all of the Part 1 version, then extended it with the Part 2 recap - hopefully seamlessly. It makes for a bigger, bolder track. I did think of just including the alternative Part 2 version as a bonus track, but it worked so well as an extension, that's what I did

- All high range clicks that plague this iso score removed, along with a very bad sound fault in the middle of one track (I forget which)

- Opening excerpt remastered with stereo sound effects and music

- Additional sound effect: "Heartbeat of the Great Vampire"

- More effective stereo spatial effects

- CD2: Mono music cues as presented on the DVD isolated score. N.B. Because of the differences in music and mixes between cliffhangers and end of episode recaps for this soundtrack, I have included the all the opening/closing theme music episode breaks, but have shortened the end themes to Parts 1-3 (Big Finish style) to make it an easier listen

- Updated CD artwork

For fans of Peter Howell's Radiophonic Workshop career away from Doctor Who, his online CV (http://peter-howell.blogspot.co.uk/p/peter-howell-composed-and-performed.html) is quite interesting. 'Space For Man' aka 'The Astronauts', the B side of his version of the Who theme (see post #3113 (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-collection-all-soundtracks-72196/125.html#post2008977) earlier in this thread), dates all the way back to 1975; he did the 1982 Horizon titles (I'm guessing these (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzZh7T7vies)) and the same year's BBC1 Christmas jingles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAyiRc6jYPY); the 1984 BBC Video ident (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq4ftiByb6M); very anodyne themes for 1985's BBC1 Christmas trailers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i3bv36uQGM) and Open Air (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yP_EW5cJXBU); Russell T Davies' Breakfast Serials (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2W80_aRCFk); and unspecified work (I presume the squelchy sound effects) on the 1974 production of The Treasure of Abbot Thomas.

Plus there's this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQ-lrVMxhMY) slightly awkward appearance on a BBC Schools programme, complete with bonkers music and some very bemused-looking kids.

I am planning to search through all the previous posts, but would someone at least be able to tell me if Proms from prior years are available to locate here?

Don't bother - the links are probably for a file hosting site that either no longer exists or no longer works lol!

I did full and cutdown versions of all the Proms (and 'A Celebration' - the only one of the concerts I have attented, and boy was it magical - and David Tennant hosting!). I'll dig out the cutdown versions and upload to MediaFire today. Full versions may take a while longer - on unmarked discs in an unmarked box I have yet to unpack!

Filewinds has been misbehaving for last few days - I've not been able to upload anything - hence State of Decay on MediaFire. I will re-up Prom to MediaFire in the morning - bedtime now.

...My thanks for all of your work. You have helped fill up my hard drives with loads of great goodies!

I will wait in eager anticipation!

Further Radiophonica that may amuse/stimulate/annoy. You're probably already familiar with the BBC site's Radiophon-A-Tron (http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/news/radiophonatron.shtml), but this (http://webaudio.prototyping.bbc.co.uk/) may have escaped your notice. Make like Brian Hodgson and fiddle with the Ring Modulator; have a crack at the Tape Loops and get in touch with your inner Delia; or try the Wobbulator and pretend you're Malcolm Clarke about to start work on The Sea Devils score. Literally minutes of fun! (N.B. It works best with Google Chrome.)

Oh, and watch this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce8hWfuVQ7M) to the end for some unexpected RWS news.

I can't claim all the credit for the 2008 Prom CD art - I came up with the idea, then very kindly and professionally executed by a friend, who goes by the handle PearlCorderman.

On a separate note, an old ghost has risen (thanks to Richard Baker for pointing it out to me)... Using the original masters for the 'State of Decay' artwork, Peter Howell is once again credited on the discs, not Paddy Kingsland. I saw it when editiing, thought "I MUST fix that" then forgot to do it because I was tired. Sorting it now!

DrMatt, is there a chance for two remaining Jim Mortimore produced osts ("Seasons of Fear" and "He Jests at Scars") to be uploaded here in the future? :)

I'm sure that can be arranged.

:)

EDIT: Trying to upload to MediaFire - uploads failing every time (not 75% of the time - I've had to try uploading 3 or 4 times before success on recent uploads...) and as for FileWinds... http://dontuseit.org/scam-alert-filewinds-bans-premium-members-without-any-reasons/...

:(

If anyone has any suggestions for alternative reliable free file hosting sites, please feel free to suggest, or I can't distribute anything to anyone by direct download.

I may have to resort to DHT torrents, and post links to torrent sites like isohunt (http://isohunt.com/). So anyone who isn't torrent trained - time for a learning curve.

Doctor Who: Variations on a Theme (DrMatt 50th Compilation)

Here's a random little something I put together on the spur of the moment for my own enjoyment, but then thought others might appreciate also - a collection of my favourite 'variations' on the Doctor Who theme I've picked up over the years, and some that I've had a hand in making, and a couple of Doctor Who monster inspired remixes. Bit rates ranging from 128 to 320, some VBR - so variable sound quality, but nothing too bad. Full CD art included should you wish to burn and add to your Doctor Who music CD collection! Hope you enjoy.

TRACK LISTING & NOTES:

NEW!*: 1. Delia Derbyshire & Mark Ayres - Doctor Who (1963 Theme Stereo Remix) 2:22 - The classic original theme by Delia Derbyshire, remastered into true stereo (N.B. This is Mark Ayres final 'fixed' version)
2. Orbital & DrMatt - Doctor Who (Version 2 - with quotes) 3:23 - I timed, edited and mixed in the excerpts and effects
3. Traffic Experiment - Vashda Nerada [Doctor Who Theme] 6:32 - A great recent rock version of the theme
4. Rotersand - Exterminate! Annihilate! Destroy! 5:18 - Hardcore thumping Dalek inspired dance track with human and Dalek vocals
5. Raindancer - Calling Doctor Who 3:40 - Highly amusing and annoyingly catchy happy house version with very clever lyrics
6. Mobius - Doctor Who (Mobius Version) 1:23 - A great synthy 80s style radiophonic theme
7. Craig Pilkington - Doctor Who (Molotov Version) 7:05 - A wonderful medley of themes and excerpts for each of the classic Doctors
8. The Prodigy, David Arnold & DrMatt - Everybody in the TARDIS (Type 40 Mix) 3:06 - My own mashup of the David Arnold (original Big Finish 8th Doctor) theme with the Fairground Mix of The Prodigy's "Everyone in the House"
9. Astralasia - Doctor Who (Astralasia Mix) 5:01 - Fun, slightly rearranged trancey dance version with Dalek vocals
10. Jex & Eurythmics - Whorhythmics (with DrMatt Intro) 4:05 - A clever mix of the classic Eurythmics track "Sweet Dreams" and the Doctor Who theme, with an extended intro by me where I play around with the L/R synth divide
11. Flashback Injector - Doctor Who (Flashback Mix) 2:47 - Mean synthy version with a vocal main melody
12. The Prodigy & DrMatt - Poison (Cyber-Converted Intro) 2:20 - this is me recreating the intro to this classic Prodigy track using nothing but (apart from the main synthy bass line) classic 60s Cyberman sound effects and voices... Prepare to be like them...
13. UK Garage - The Daleks (Vocal Mix) 5:04 - Grind down to this bass-line happy mix of the original Delia theme, with some fun vocals on top
14. Chameleon Circuit - An Awful Lot of Running 3:48 - A great tune that created the group Chameleon Circuit, who now have two albums out. This is a great track - worth checking out the official animated video for it on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAi4izfvXo4)
NEW!*: 15. Fast Ood Rockers - Song for Kylie (I'm In Love With A Girl In A Time Machine) 3:37 - Fantastic dance remix, blending The Timelords 'Doctorin the TARDIS, Kylie, Delia and more!
16. Howard Richardson - Breakbeats in Time & Space 3:10 - Nice slow starting upbeat radiophonic style theme with a conversation between the Master and the Doctor going on in the background!
17. Anthony Perry - Doctor Who (Pale Moonlight Mix) 2:18 - Lovely soothing piano only rearrangement
18. Augustus Pablo & Dub Syndicate - Doctor Who (Reggae Version) 5:04 - Superb and superbly subtle Reggae version of the theme, with classic series sound effects
19. David Darlington - Doctor Who and the Pirates Theme 1:09 - A fun Gilbert & Sullivan style version, used at the end of Big Finish play Doctor Who and the Pirates. Some bird sound effects at the beginning proved impossible to remove
20. Murray Gold, Delia Derbyshire & DrMatt - Doctor Who Theme (1963 vs 2010) 1:04 - When the theme was rearranged in 2010, I really didn't like, and felt it needed much more Delia in it, so with a little more work than expected (the 2010-present theme is slightly speeded up from all previous versions which are at the same slightly slower speed) this is the result!

* Original release only had 18 tracks

Total Duration: 1:12:24

Love it Matt! :D

I'm finally getting there with the 50th Anniversary treats - got half a year to make up for!

Coming soon will be remastered 2xCD versions of Warriors' Gate and Logopolis, possibly even the first competition! One a month until November, when there will be an extra specially hard one with an extra special prize: professionally printed (as much as a decent CD printing Canon printer allows) physical copies of every one of my DW isolated scores (which will all have then been remastered into 2xCD sets) as well as a few extra special surprises! We're talking roughly a 40 title set, with most of them doubles. Sent to you free of charge. And if that's not a competition worth entering, them I'm a Bugblatter Beast of Traal!

Which Doctor?

There I was in bed last night and realised I'd left off my all-time favourite DW theme remix off the 'Variations' album... And given that I don't like odd numbers, thought it would be good to also include the stereo remix of the original Delia Derbyshire theme at the beginning of the album. So here is the final 20 track version of the album, including the Fast Odd Rockers - Song for Kylie (I'm in Love with a Girl in a Time Machine) and Delia as she should be heard (not mixed in with Murray Gold's awful 2010 rendition lol!).

NEW TRACKS:

1. Delia Derbyshire & Mark Ayres - Doctor Who (1963 Theme Stereo Remix) 2:22 - The classic original theme by Delia Derbyshire, remastered into true stereo (N.B. This is Mark Ayres final 'fixed' version)

15. Fast Ood Rockers - Song for Kylie (I'm In Love With A Girl In A Time Machine) 3:37 - Fantastic dance remix, blending The Timelords 'Doctorin the TARDIS, Kylie, Delia and more!

REMIX NOTES:

- Previous posts of this [REMIXED] soundtrack had a mastering error - the first 2 seconds of the first track missing - now fixed

- Now includes completely remastered 'remixed' CD back (displayed above)

- Downloadable in FLAC format as well as MP3, as this is my only NuWho soundtrack variation not available commercially

ADDITIONAL TRACKS:

- The album now opens with the Full-length theme music from 'Voyage of the Damned': Only ever released online (on Xmas Day 2007) by Silva Screen Records. Murray Gold has stated that this CD was always meant to include a version of the theme music, and it was Silva Screen who made the decision to make the track a 'hidden feature' on the CD. It is/was accessible by typing in the special code printed on the back of the CD into a web browser (Code: (http://www.mediafire.com/download/7wrvyia8cpt8bc8/FFS-DM-EE-2.zip) 515PM23111963)

- Fast Ood Rockers - Song for Kylie (I'm In Love With A Girl In A Time Machine): A very well put together pop version of the theme, blending Murray Gold, Delia Derbyshire, Kylie Minogue, Goldfrapp and others

REMIXED TRACKS:

- All the Strange, Strange Creatures (The Trailer Music) - on the original CD, this track opens with the same 'zoom in on earth' music used on Track 2 of the 'Series 1 & 2' CD. This track was made available for download in its isolated form (without the repeated 'zoom' in on earth' music) on The Mill's website, used in a promotional video that featured a lot of SFX from DW

- Abide With Me - on the original CD, this track seemed to fade out forever. For this version, I have gradually increased the volume at the end (so there is minimal fading) and made the track end more naturally at the end of the verse

That is an AMAZING Selection of tracks. All the favorites are there too. and the return of Itunes bonus tracks which sound brilliant. 9th September can't come quick enough!

8 The Terrible Truth - must be the oswin/Dalek reveal
16 The Salvation Of Kahler Jex - YES, the music when Jex blows himself up. loved that music
25 My Husbands Home - when the tardis battles to land in new york, another favorite of mine.
35 Bah Bah Biker - OMG The odd music when they ride of westminister bridge with the odd folk singing! LOVE IT
36 Up The Shard - OH YES EVERYONE! The I Am The Doctor we all wanted!!!

Im sad that it seems Hide & Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS only have ONE track: 13 I Am A Ghost & 14 A Machine That Makes Machines

We haven't had a soundtrack release of murrays music since 2011 with Series 6, and thats a long time we have been waiting. Now we haven't got to wait much longer.

Another sad thing is the exception of no tracks from: The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe and The Snowmen. I would have thought murray would have included some tracks from the Snowmen considering it is part of Series 7, Its the mid special of the series.

HOLD UP!!!! WHERES THE NEW DOCTOR WHO THEME???

I know, I guess The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe was part of Series 6 but the Snowmen is stated as part of Series 7, Yet theres nothing. Oh well. 2 Disks of AMAZINGLY selected music makes up for that i guess. Unless we get a bumper Christmas edition with selected music from both, on a 2 disc set, disc 1 dedicated to TDTWATW and disc 2 dedicated to the Snowmen.

IM SOOOOO HAPPY WITH THIS CD!!!! THANK YOU MURRAY, BEN & JAKE!!!!!

Hmmm - no music from either Christmas Special, it seems!

I was just thinking that - but a nice selection nonetheless. Shame Clara is split over both discs. If it was Clara on CD2 only, I could take great pleasure in burning disc one! (Not a fan of the Moff Pond era - I feel it should be entirely erased from Doctor Who history. Here's hoping the start of Series 8 is the Doctor waking up as Peter Capaldi, and being so thankful that his 11th incarnation was just a very bad 2 year dream, 'Dallas' style!)

Very good point!!! Maybe the disc will be released with a special code printed in the middle that enables you travel forwards in time and purchase the S8 soundtrack that DOES include the theme lol!

Or maybe like the Series 3 CD, theres a special code in the booklet which allows you to download a copy of the Snowmen theme tune. Since thats practically what they did on the Series 3 CD. There was a code for the Voyage Of The Damned Theme Tune, but was never used for Series 4. We can only hope I guess

Hi all.

A lot of the older links don't seem to work anymore.
Any chance somebody could re-up a few 7th OSTs?

Survival, Greatest Show, and as it is the 25th anniversary of the 25th anniversary story, it would be nice to get Silver Nemesis as well.

Thanx.

Wow. That is an impressive track list, despite the lack of music from "The Snowmen". I think this is the most music we've had from New Who? I can't wait to get this.

well they did promise a great cd :) I don't like it that they are doing the bonus iTunes tracks again

Chris666eden
08-08-2013, 12:49 PM
Yeah the Inclusion of bonus iTunes tracks is annoying but unfortunately, as with all releases with bonus tracks (Series 4 Specials & Series 5), there going to eventually find themselves everywhere like File sharing websites, YouTube etc before probably being removed shortly after and at the end of the day it's extra content to a CD which is already jam packed with fantastic music. So if there's extra stuff, chances are your probably going to take it lol

Does anyone remember how long before the release that the previous albums went up on iTunes?

Chris666eden
08-08-2013, 02:15 PM
Well if Amazon have samples already, I'd imagine iTunes will get them in the next few days. To be honest iTunes samples are better because they are in high quality and if the track is over 2 - 3 minutes long then the preview is extended to a minute long. I'm patiently waiting for it to appear. I'm sure when Silvascreen make the pre-order available, that's when it will appear on iTunes.

I Think it was like 2 or 3 weeks prior to the albums release, so there was enough time for people to sample the tracks and pre order if they wished.

Does anyone know if disc 2 track 7: Never Wake actually played in The Rings Of Arkhaten? Because I don't remember ever hearing it in the episode, if it wasn't in the episode then we have an unheard/unused track on the CD!

I've Just gone back and I am correct. Never Wake 'Never played' (lol) in Rings Of Arkhaten. So we do have an unheard/unused track on the CD. BRILLIANT!

Remember me In Asylum Of The Daleks was played in full, to an extent, but was sped up. The Snowmen was the full version & Name Of The Doctor provided us with an extended version. All I hope is that the IATD plays at the end of Remember me when she jumps in the time line because if its not on there then murray is missing out BIG TIME and so are the fans.

Oh yeah, for some reason I thought that was supposed to be an extended version of the music played in The Doctor's time stream/Introducing John Hurt. It seems the I am the Doctor bit will be included though, the time from the beginning of the song in the episode (10 minutes 58 seconds before the end) and the end of the I am the Doctor bit (8 minutes 11 seconds before the end) match up with the song (3 minutes 4 seconds), although it does leave a bit of time uncovered.

I'm quite sad we don't have the final few minutes of the episode with the John Hurt bit.

There Is music from the Snowmen on this soundtrack:

5 Towards The Asylum - When the snowmen surround the house and when the doctor and clara escape up the staircase from the ice governess.
8 The Terrible Truth - shortly after clara falls from the cloud.
37 Remember Me - When Clara asks the Doctor to save this world.

The fact is the music played in Series 7 Part 1 first and then was reused In The Snowmen, probably because It sounds like music for a christmas episode.

The track from series three 'given away' on the Advent Calendar for that year. I have it somewhere if needs be - it was Realaudio format.

Silver Nemesis: I added the (unused) tracks that I have, not to be found on the DVD, including the music to that year's series trailer which was recorded in the same session.

I'd forgotten about that advent calendar track. It might be that I excluded it due to sound quality being 128kbps. I'm not certain that it was or I did, so some clarification on the bit rate of the file would be useful. Unless it's 256kbps or above, I find it hard putting them on albums sourced from WAV.

I'd be interested to hear your alternative 'Silver Nemesis' - did you ever upload it?

Develop the music a little bit? It could be that that's how Gold prefers or is asked to work and would be much more appropriate editing wise. In fact the way the show is edited, the short pieces are more malleable and open to microedits. If you are trying to say that the short tracks mean underdeveloped themes, then you mustn't have listened to the music as played out in the series. One theme may be stated in an early track, but take 3 or four to fully pronounce itself. This is not poor composition it is merely in my opinion just an efficient way of composing for television when you only have half the time to work with what you're given as with film.

Ok guys, here's the next 2 albums in the series of previously unreleased music from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop:

Firstly...

A moody album of atmospheric sounds and ambiances:

Free File Hosting - Online Storage; Upload Mp3, Videos, Music. Backup Files (http://www.peejeshare.com/files/362042257/RWS-CAV55-MP3.zip.html)

And secondly, imho the best of the five...

A much more musical album, mostly by Malcolm Clarke, where you can hear a lot of ideas and sounds he used in his 80s Doctor Who scores. This album has no hi-res CD art as yet, but I thought I'd get it up here as soon as I could:

Free File Hosting - Online Storage; Upload Mp3, Videos, Music. Backup Files (http://www.peejeshare.com/files/362042258/RWS-CAV58-MP3.zip.html)

Password as ever: GoldenSands

Any chance of Mediafire links for these? (sorry for being a bother)

THE CAVENDISH ALBUMS

The following albums feature music and ambiances by a variety of BBC Radiophonic Workshop composers, never released commercially, but made available for media companies to use on their material for a fee. They were compiled from 320kbps Spotify rips I randomly discovered one night (I didn't know the albums existed before then!) and 128kbps rips from the official site where the tracks can be sampled before purchase. Full CD art provided for all albums by PearlCorderman, who also discovered that the extra tracks were available on the official site and helped me with the rips. These albums have never been available to buy in the shops, nor are they ever likely to be.

'Time and Space' is my personal favourite - lots of Malcolm Clarke roundabout the time he was composing and using the same sound pallette for 'Attack of the Cybermen'. And there are alternative versions of some tracks used in 'Doctor Who ' most notably, several different versions of 'The Milonga' (aka 'Wrack's Banquetting Music' in 'Enlightenment').

Actually, I am using my own computer, but it could be that Google Chrome has built-in firewalls? I don't know, as I'm no computer programmer, just a music lover :awsm:

Develop the music a little bit? It could be that that's how Gold prefers or is asked to work and would be much more appropriate editing wise. In fact the way the show is edited, the short pieces are more malleable and open to microedits.

This is what's going on. Every cue is recorded with the view to being re-used and edited and chopped around. At the session I attended, some cues got recorded three or four times with various parts of the orchestra missing so that they could create an infinite number of subtly different cues out of the same music by crossfading between them as necessary.

Since nobody is scoring to picture, the composer has no idea whether his music will be playing for three minutes, thirty seconds, of five seconds - and so has to write with that in mind. If Who could afford an orchestra session for every episode and every episode was actually scored and spotted to picture, this wouldn't happen... but that's too expensive.

Small error with the Silver Nemesis upload - it's missing most of its CD art -

Silver Nemesis - CD Art (http://www.mediafire.com/?el22sbykstygmvs)

I'm re-upping it with CD art - this is for people who downloaded the first version (that only has front and back covers).

Does anyone here have any isolated samples from the Doctor Who theme? I recently found a copy of the isolated bassline from Howell's version of the theme.... Has anyone managed to use 5.1 software to isolate the Derbyshire melody? Or bassline? I have yet to get a copy of the "the Beginning" boxset, so I can't do it myself :(
Help please anyone?

well, for most of them, it tells me that Google Chrome could not connect to the site, or if it does connect, it either tells me that the file has been deleted or else just tells me the filename and won't let me click DOWNLOAD :( . Is it a firewall issue, do you think? And how could I fix it?

I've been after these for years - with the view to doing a Jean Michel Jarre style album based entirely around the element s from and musical arrangement of the Delia's theme. Thanks for the Howell bass line - great share!

Any chance of re-up? Most of these links are dead.

A re-up of what exactly? Every DW soundtrack that's ever been released? I'm working on it - have been for several months - and will be continuing to do so until the anniversary.

Be a little more specific, or invest a bit more time checking this thread (working backwards) and you might find what you want is already available. This thread has been running a long time, much longer than I've been here, and so many file-hosting sites have gone down since then, you're unlikely to find a working download link on the first 100 pages of this thread.

Re-uploads of two classic early Doctor Who soundtracks compiled from the official BBC Music CD Devils' Planets, with additional excerpts and sound effects from various sources. On the original CD, CD1 had The Daleks and most of The Daleks' Master Plan, with the rest on CD2, along with (very lazily titled!) tracks from The Mutants. I personally prefer one story on one disc, hence this 'repackage'. The Mutants will be a while, but as these were sourced from CDs which are now deleted, FLACs also available.

I've been after these for years - with the view to doing a Jean Michel Jarre style album based entirely around the element s from and musical arrangement of the Delia's theme. Thanks for the Howell bass line - great share!

NOW that is something I want to hear!

Chris666eden, do you happen to have the music for the phone conversation with the Master and the Doctor in The Sound of Drums. I know this piece and a few others from Voyage of the Damned were rippable from the Doctor Who Adventures Game: The City of the Daleks.

And speaking of the Doctor Who theme, no one would happen to have a copy of the Pilot Episode version, would you? I thought it was released on that "21" album, but I guess Mark Ayres' website was wrong, or else it was re-released with the correct version reinstated.....

Certain news sites have been given advanced copies of the Series 7 Soundtrack for review purposes, so i asked a news site called WhovianNet If the last track 'Remember Me' has the I Am The Doctor from the moment when Clara jumps into the Doctors time stream and is split into multiple Clara's and their answer was YES!!!
I've just asked which version it is (Cut down, redubbed or full), will post answer when I get it.

Have you got any good stuff from series 1? I think that's when Murray was at his best, not relying on past themes so much...

I do. Between the clean -ish tracks of the so-called umnreleased music album, the ost, and an album labeled as Measter Tapes, which was totally clean, I can provide a 54 track album for series one that runs about 98 minutes. Some of the tracks form the "unreleased" album have a few very faint fx, and are definitely rips. Even without fx, there are some volume level issues. But others are very clear and clean. The "master tapes" set has stuff from "The Unquiet Dead", "The Long Gamne", "The Doctor Dances", and a handful of tracks from "Father's Day" and "Dalek". Some were the same as the ost only remastered, so I left those off. I am not so good with the editing, but I did what I could to integrate all of it to sound whole. So if interested I can put it up. Here's the track list:

1 Opening Titles Series One
2 Life On Earth
3 Fkeeing Henrick's
4 Seeking The Doctor
5 Plastic Attraction
6 Westminster Bridge
7 Always This Dangerous
8 Clockwork TARDIS
9 Goodbye Earth
10 Cassandra's Waltz
11 Rose Phones Home/Sabotage
12 Rose;s Theme
13 The Doctor's Theme Series One
14 The Unquiet Dead
15 Aliens Of London Opening Recap
16 Slitheen
17 In The Morgue
18 Harriet Finds The Emergency Protocols
19 The Brass Confer
20 Past Events At Number 10
21 Chasing The Doctor
22 Sniffing Out The Hostiles/Cornered
23 Saving The World/Slitheen Attack
24 Target 10 Downing Street
25 World War Three
26 Dalek
27 Battle With The Dalek
28 The Lone Dalek
29 The Long Game
30 Father's Day 1
31 Father's Day 2

33 I am Your Mummy
34 Everybody Lives!
35 Cardiff
36 Sneaking In The Compound/Slitheen Headed North

No sorry. I do not have room on the pc to keep multiple sets of items. Once I had the album compiled I deleted the sources. I did consider it, but got rid of them. I did not make this for anythning other than my own use. I can put it up, but just keep that in mind. I got the source on soulseek, but am not sure what member. It was only a month or so ago.

Ok, here's the series One stuff. Please, be gentle. I did my best. Mostly just editing silences and a clumsy attempt to level volume. Tracks are a "best guess" sorta kinda maybe in order. I used Murray's comments in the booklet of Series One's OST to place some into Series One, despite the actual track names. I am sure a lot is out of order, espicially at the end. Chronology comments welcome. Anyhoo. ( I am kinda embarrassed to share..:()

WOW, I saw this around 2 years ago but it was only the tracklist and it had 10 second samples. It had some Series 2 tracks with it aswell mostly from Girl In The Fireplace & Impossible Planet/Satan Pit. You don't know If you have those too do you?
Thanks for this find! Extremely good. Especially the better versions of New Adventures and the Dalek themes, the soundtrack versions are great but they weren't the ones from the episode. All the music was re-recorded essentially.

New Adventures is straight off of the OST, as is The Lone Dalek. ALL OST tracks that are present in Series one are here. If it was on the official release, it's here as is, actually. This particular set was not around years ago, as it is custom assembled by me about 3 days ago. I have no unreleased Series 2 stuff, no. Pity. Series 1 & 2 are really short changed, musically.

Are from the album Series One Unreleased. These are the only ones either clean or min fx. The volume levels are also dodgy. This is def a set of rips, although some were much clearer and cleaner than others.

The rest are from an album called Master Tapes. They are good sound and totally clean. A number were/are the same as OST tracks but renamed. "So Alien" was actually "Clockwork TARDIS" for example. I dunno the source. I almost deleted without listening. I thought they were gonna be another bunch of rips, but now I don't think so. Perhaps the original OST was to be all or mainly Series One, and these were tracks prepped but then cut? Dunno.

Heres what i found a few years ago: Murray Gold - Doctor Who - Series 1 & 2 (Unreleased) (http://www.musicsense.org/album385293-Doctor-Who-Series-1-2-Unreleased-.htm)

As you can see it has all the master tape tracks for Series One but also has master tape tracks for Series Two, mostly from The Girl In The Fireplace & The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit. Which means that there is a Series Two Master tape as well but obviously it must be non existent now which is a huge shame.

Must be out there somewhere. I am having a strong suspicion that albums for Series One and Series Two were planned, and maybe partially prepped, when the two were combined? Or, Mr. Gold (or someone close) passed out a few samples...

Interesting. Last of the Time Lords is the OST track Searching For The Doctor. Platform One was the first minutes of Cassandra's Waltz. The set I obtained had no tracks named Last Dalek (though I suspect is named merely Dalek on my), Power of the Dalek (perhaps Battling the Dalek?), Surfing the Rift, My Dalek Masters, Deadly Games or Dalek Danger. They may have been titled differently of course.

Well, supposedly, according to Murray's liner notes, that's "I'm Coming To Get You". Which, if you remove the opening beats, it mostly is. Differences could be down to editing to fit the scene, in which case a clean version exactly matching may not exist.

Oh. Ok, well maybe not that impossible. If you guys are good at placing the tracks, how bout helping sort the order of what I posted, especially at the end and the regeneration?

I was just going to add the 'Logopolis' segment from the Prom, but then thought it might sound good with the orchestra subtly mixed in over the original where possible - which is what this is. It may have more excerpts added to it before final release.

This was excellent! It sounded like a more modern-made Logopolis. Slightly filmic somehow.

I've put together a State of Decay 'highlights' track - partly to promote awareness of my work on SoundCloud, and partly as part of an ongoing Doctor Who: The Music (Collection) project - a set of albums that will sit alongside Doctor Who: The Music I & II CDs that will fill in the gaps with music suites from all stories from the 80s radiophonic era.

The track is downloadable from SoundCloud.

I also came across this amazing dubstep remix of I am the Doctor whilst browsing SoundCloud - worth checking out:

Just a thought - given the lack of theme tune and 'Song for Fifty' on the Series 7 soundtrack...

Might Silva Screen and Murray Gold be planning a special 50th anniversary EP containing said tracks, plus one or two others? I can't see 'Song for Fifty' being only a Prom exclusive.

What i find odd is Silva screens first official announcement on what Albums they were going to release to celebrate the 50th

In one particular sentence you get this: Meanwhile, fans of Murray Gold can expect soundtracks to Series 7. On top of that, a 50th anniversary compilation album featuring tracks from all eras.

Notice they state soundtracks to Series 7. Meaning the 2 disc set released in september Isn't the only release for Series 7. This makes me think we might actually get individual soundtracks to: The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe & The Snowmen.

Also a 50th Anniversary Compilation Album featuring music from all era's. This sounds like Silva screens big celebratory mega album.

It could be though. A 50th Anniversary celebratory special album, should such a thing come to pass, would likely just be a collection of tracks compiled from existing CDs. I can't see a recording session with full orchestra and soloists being mounted just to commit "Song For Fifty" to CD. Big outlay for effectively zero return. Why bother?

In the interests of balance I will confess that "Song For Fifty" didn't really do it for me, and was in fact the low point of the whole prom, so maybe I am just HOPING that it doesn't appear. :-)

I'm guessing a one disc Christmas Album containing music from The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe as well as The Snowmen and a 2-Disc release for the 50th Anniversary Special containing the complete score for the special along with a few extra tracks as well as the 50th compilation album.

This I Highly Doubt. We have the 2 cd Series 7. We **may** get a 2 cd for the X-Mas specials. There's the 50th anniversary album. Need I remind anyone of what the 25th and 30th albums actually were like? As for the Special, I would bet not until next year, since it will only just have aired this year.

My suggestion of an EP wasn't an affirmation of my appreciation of 'Song for 50' - I was equally disappointed with the composition (the best I can say is: "The lyrics might just pass English Literature GCSE...") and hoped for something so much more. But the classic Who music montage more than made up for it for me.

:)

I really don't think we'll see single disc releases for the recent Xmas specials, so I'm still hoping for a little silver screened surprise that I hope includes the new theme arrangement (a vast improvement on the original 2010 Matt Smith arrangement - "the worst ever" is how I think described it to a friend in an email...)

If any of you use SoundCloud, I'm gradually getting to grips with it and will be using it to post previews and exclusive content during this 50th anniversary year (copyright infringements allowing!)

You have high hopes! None of Dudley's scores exist in their 'isolated' state... Put the 'City of Death' Proms track on repeat and engage in some advanced form of existential meditation that promises physical manifestation from visualisation, and your hopes may come true!

I did hear rumours that some Dudley Simpson DW concerts were happening this year. Was WhoNews (https://soundcloud.com/drmatt1974) deceiving me?

I heard a rumour that the master tape for some soundtrack or other had been recovered or something like that, but I could be wrong, and I WOULD BE SO HAPPY IF THERE WERE DUDLEY SIMPSON CONCERTS GOING ON, I think his music was some of the best of all of Doctor Who's history :)

That's my favorite recreation of the piece so far, as I think the large orchestra and limited time somehow took something away from the piece in the proms....

The classic montage was a wonder to behold. Watching Cybermen emerge from their tomb while a live orchestra blared out the music was a real highlight.

I do love Gold's scores and long may he contribute to Doctor Who. That being said....

This may be available on BBC iPlayer, not sure, but "Song For 50" was featured on BBC4 last night in a programme about new compositions premiering at this year's proms. A 90 minute show with excerpts from all kinds of diverse pieces and it pains me to say the excerpt from SF50 sounded embarrassingly amateurish alongside all the others [and there was some WEIRD stuff among them]. Fortunately they only showed a short excerpt, unfortunately it was the "Happy Birthday...Happy Birthday...Happy birthday Doctor You" segment. :cringe:

I see the TV slot for the Who prom next week is an hour and a quarter, where previous years were only an hour [not the extended red button edits]. That extra quarter hour may be to accommodate Song for 50. I pray that the producer and editor have put together a kick-ass clips montage or two to throw in because IMO that 12 minutes of aimless warbling will have kids switching over to The Incredible Hulk in their droves if there's nothing else to hold them.
