It would have been nice to have the advent calender tracks as bonus tracks; 'Song for Ten' (Original), 'Reunion', 'Adeola' 'The Old Rugged Cross' and 'UNIT Cue' (From 'The Sontaran Stratagem')...

I mean, they were previously released and could easily fit the early 'iTunes bonus track' sort of category and actually would be new to most people, so would have pleased the people begging for unreleased Murray Gold music... (Probably...)

'The Chase (Music and Effects from the Soundtrack)', 'The Macra Terror (Incidental music excerpt)', 'Mysterious Robots' and the many Dudley Simpson suites have to be my favourite tracks, even though The Chase music track sounds a lot like Impossibleego's suite... (If the music survives, why must they mix it with sound effects!? Unless that's the only way it survives...) Now if only they can find a way to release the complete surviving Dudley Simpson music for Doctor Who, I and many others would be VERY happy!

Well here's the thing with it, in the booklet it said that some tracks have been edited from their initial releases, personally I think it's a way of convincing people to buy the other Murray Gold albums, or maybe it was because of storage space on the discs. The one here is indeed shorter, I mostly noticed they shortened the Voyage of the Damned Suite from 11 minutes to about 4 if I recall correctly. But the version of All the Strange, Strange Creatures doesn't have the Earth Zoom from Westminster Bridge, I'm not the one who edited these tracks, these are all as they were found on the discs

Yes, it is. This is the track and title given to it in the Series 1 & 2 OST. In those liners, Murray states it was originally written for the hologram scene but was changed to the regen in editing.

Please note, unless I go to like a public library, or use the pc of someone who does not use my internet provider, I cannot access the shrine. I get an url not found message from my cable provider. Not a browser or vbulletin message, from my cable company. My apptmnt complex uses the same provider and the site does not exist there either, and when I call the techs for help, they also cannot find shrine. But non Cox Communications users can get here. So for the time being I cannot up or download anything, and will not be on much. As I am not going to the library daily, for a 15 minute turn, and/or pestering neighbors to use theirs. Yes, The Chase stuff was lifted from the soundtrack. If you know the sound track back to front as I do, you just know when someone is about to speak. Plus there's a few footsteps I swear. He only uses half a dozen or less cues if I remember correctly. I was too busy heavily panting over some of the other items...

With the help of the music that dragonOllie kindly provided, I've created a couple extended suites for The Seeds of Death and Planet of the Spiders. The 11-CD set did not include all of the known surviving music from those stories. You can hear more on DVD photo galleries. So I combined the two together. 'Seeds' is extended by around two minutes and 'Spiders' by about ten seconds. Here's the link if anyone is interested:

Do you mean that drum roll and cymbal smash from three of the episodes?

I found something on a Chappell album that sounded similar... Too short, drum roll wrong pitch, but similar. Ironically, it was composed by the same man whose album provided the disco music for the first episode. I'm still on the look out, as they say.

Just for the hell of it, and to drag the thread back to 1966, here is:

Oh I am just like you and know that soundtrack like the back of my hand. Due to technical issues with my original suite saving incorrectly I had to redo that one three times before it stuck so.... yeah... I know that's an episode lift. Interesting mine is longer with FX that could almost pass as music being included in mine but not the "official" release. ;)

Second Doctor artwork now labeled correctly. I swore I'd fixed that before I flattened the image in Photoshop. lol

As for doing covers... With all the projects I'm currently working on (there are so many) its easier for me if there is pre-existing artwork for the stories. I also hadn't planned on doing EVERY episode that had library music as individual "albums", but if we can find artwork (or if you're really patient I can try and create the artwork fully) I would be happy to make them.

If ANYONE has some good, textless artwork resources for the classic series, please let me know. Its easier on me that way. I do graphic design for employment... I like to do as little work as possible on album artwork so it doesn't feel like I'm still working. lol

The Edge of Destruction
The Space Museum
The Time Meddler
The Abominable Snowmen
The Enemy of the World

And my little dream (yup, I know that is only one track) - The Highlanders.

I guess we can also look for "Hodgson-Stock Music osts":
The Dominators
The Faceless Ones
The Wheel in Space
The Mind Robber
The Invasion (with Don Harper of course)

actually Hsisi's art is what I had been using for some already presented. Sadly classic Who images tend not to be available in very HiRes, hence why some of those covers are only 600x600. Suitable for iTunes.

I don't see the point in doing Abominable Snowmen, Faceless Ones or Highlanders if we don't have the ACTUAL tracks used (not just from off-air recordings of the episodes). Its also rather odd for me to want to do covers for music that is completely available through official releases.

And I'm also on the lookout for ANY textless artwork that would fiT with the style of those which I've already used for ALL stories with iso scores.

I edited all tracks from suites and listen to them regularly. You can do art for those if you want, let's say for future findings. :)

And we have original track by Tom Dissevelt used in "The Faceless Ones".

Here's a list of differences, with the 4-CD version of the relevant track listed first, and the 11-CD version in bold underneath. Most are extended suites, whereas some are alternative versions or slightly shorter.

Music from "Time and the Rani" (1:38) - Keff McCulloch
Music from "Time and the Rani" (Extended Suite) (4:02) - Keff McCulloch
Music from "Dragonfire" (3:02) - Dominic Glynn
Music from "Dragonfire" (Extended Suite) (3:02) - Dominic Glynn
Music from "Remembrance of the Daleks" (5:32) - Keff McCulloch
Music from "Remembrance of the Daleks" (Extended Suite) (8:21) - Keff McCulloch
Music from "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy" (3:23) - Mark Ayres
Music from "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy" (Extended Suite) (7:07) - Mark Ayres
Music from "Battlefield" (4:41) - Keff McCulloch
Music from "Battlefield" (Extended Suite) (5:24) - Keff McCulloch
Music from "The Curse of Fenric" (6:33) - Mark Ayres
Music from "The Curse of Fenric" (Extended Suite) (7:30) - Mark Ayres
Music from "Survival" (5:28) - Dominic Glynn

Martha's Theme (3:42) - Murray Gold
Martha's Theme (2:34) - Murray Gold
All The Strange, Strange Creatures - Murray Gold (4:08)
All The Strange, Strange Creatures - Murray Gold (3:47)

And from what I could see, these tracks are on the 4-CD version, but missing from the 11-CD release.

Donna's Theme (3:14) - Murray Gold
Boe (3:42) - Murray Gold
The Master Suite (4:33) - Murray Gold
Four Knocks (3:57) - Murray Gold
Amy's Theme (2:06) - Murray Gold

Actually there more changes, mainly suites from particular stories are longer. And as I see, much of the Fifth Medic cd is taken from The Music II or at least thay were a base for Mark Ayres for remixing the material from original cues.

Sorry for neatpicking, but I'm trying to unify track names on my DW compilations and I'm stuck with one Hodgson track.
Which is more accurate by your opinion?
Sting & Web (Cocooning Interior) / Cobweb Pulsates [on "Doctor Who At The BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Volume 1"]
or
Sting & Web (Cocooning Interior / Cobweb Pulsates) [on "Doctor Who: 50th Anniversary Music Collection"] ?

EDIT: OK, I chose the second one.

Nothing new from Murray Gold, apparently at his request.

Disappointed as I am with this omission (to put it mildly) I can sort of see Gold's point. Why allow his previously unreleased new series music to be exploited as the selling point for a repackaged compilation of mainly old series music, thus splitting what should really be HIS royalties with Mark Ayres et al?

I do hope Murray has plans for a really definitive box set of his Doctor Who music to be released at some point. How many discs worth must he have already created in the last ten years?!

Amanda
10-04-2014, 02:21 PM
Mr. Gold can plan all he wants, Silva makes those calls in the end. Several cues on the new set are edited and shortened from their original versions. And, for example, All The Strange Strange Creatures does not have the Earth Zoom In That was on the original OST version. I like this better. But this was ripped as gapless, so when I play just that track I get s tsd of the previous also. :(

I REALLY hope that Clara is gone for good now. I'll be so glad if they never show Danny or Clara ever again and actually have the Doctor traveling alone for the rest of the series.

Tegan ended on a rather abrupt and sour note.....Joe just popped off, in effect choosing her fiance/boyfriend over the Doctor, Romana made a very abrupt decision to stay behind, Nyssa made a spur of the moment choice. Martha left quickly for the season too. It is not that unusual and the poor Doc never seems to see it coming.

Kadron
10-04-2014, 10:06 PM
maybe not unusual, but I doubt its the case for her
companionlite episodes are always cool though, so I dont mind her being gone for now

Amanda

Normal regeneration companions mainly serve as a touchstone for the audience to remind them (and the Doctor) who he is. In this case I do not see them getting on with it somehow. She is like a junkie addicted to the adventure, but still seems to be pining over the 11 Doc. This new one is definitely not Mr. Warm & Fuzzy and I find it bracing. But Clara actually seems in the way these days. And it's like the Doctor is going to her simply out of habit, because he doesn't really know any other humans. Time to cut that cord anyway. I find it hypocritical that Mr. "I hate soldiers" is also the old UNIT scientific adviser and best chums with the Brig and other...:erm: soldiers. If he had taken the time to explain to Danny why you cannot just blow up and attack the killer robot turned massive bomb, I suspect Danny would have got it and adapted. Given the chance....

I Just Watched The Ep (I Liked It) And I Agree Clara Has Not "Left" Just Taking A Break The Doctor Will Have A Solo Ep (Simular to Midnight) And She Will Return at the End of Next Weeks to Open the Next One.

I Agree With Amanda She Is A Bit Annoying Now She Needs to Shut Up Or Just Leave Later LOL But A New Companion Would Be Better For Doctor 12 (or 13) LOL

Wonderful stuff, Funky. What are the names of the other tracks on that KPM album?

Well, originally Scorched Earth was the b-side of the wonderfully-titled "Smouldering Fury" on KP.017 (a 78 record). Later KPM collected their 78 recordings on LPs, with each album containing six 78s-worth of tracks in chronological order. Scorched Earth and Smouldering Fury both appear on the snappily-titled "KPM LP 3" (i.e. KPM's third reissue album), with the slightly less snappy catalogue number of "KPM 013A-018B" (which looks like gibberish, but means that it contains every track from the a-side of KP.013 through to the b-side of KP.018).

If you're still awake after reading all that, you can find a track listing here:

http://www.discogs.com/Various-KPM-013A-018B/release/4663726

"Space Control" isn't that unidentified track from Edge of Destruction. I was hoping it just might be!

Slobber. I think it is from Episode 2, where the Doctor first spots Wyatt or one of the Primords. I think the drum is distorted and the bass brought up but the rhythm sounds right.

Anyone know if this (https://mega.co.nz/#!lFRWlBhC!pqjohwaING7FV4PptufWK3LtF9sRd0gF0WdzcJh SSBo) is from The Sarah Jane Adventures? I found it on here (http://audioboom.com/users/3475/boos), it was uploaded 'over 4 years ago', so would be the right time to be from The Sarah Jane Adventures. It sounds vaguely familiar but I can't seem to find it when I go back and watch some episodes to search for it.

Also, through messing about in Audacity with some tracks, I have managed to create a sort-of suite for when Kaagh is revealed in The Last Sonataran. (I'm just messing about with the suites to see if I can add fades in the correct places to get the individual tracks...)

Yes. They're all included in the right places in my rip, which can be found on the previous page. It can also be found here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-collection-all-soundtracks-72196/237.html#post2629026).

I recently emailed silva screen about a potential Day and Time of the Doctor soundtrack, and the reply was quite encouraging!
"Hi Joshua
Thanks for your email and for being such a loyal customer.
We are hoping to release these, yes, but I have no further information as to when I'm afraid. When I do, I'll send out a newsletter though so if you are signed up to that ( Doctor Who Music | Doctor Who Music Site (http://www.doctorwhomusic.com/) ), you will be among the first to know.
Sorry not to have more information for you at the moment.
Regards

Hopefully we will see a release soon then

We've had a few library music finds in the last few months. Just trying to consolidate what we've found. I haven't been through everything, but has the following been found yet by anyone?

The Time Museum:
Scene Shifts - Don Banks - [Conroy BM 351]
Musique Concrete: Sting Tintabuloid / Kaputt - Desmod Leslie - [Weinberger JW 233]

The Meddling Monk
Twelve Tone Links - Harry Dexter - [Weinberger JW 334]
Nuvane - Light Symphonia - [Conroy BM 416]

The Tomb Of The Cybermen
Title not Known-Band 7 - Desmond Leslie - [Weinberger JW 233]
Title not Known-Band 8 - Desmond Leslie - [Weinberger JW 232] (this could be a typo and refer to JW 233)

{Also, has anyone found the following Quatermass tracks? Once again, this is not an exhaustive list:

Pillars of Hercules - Francis Chagrin
Fantasy on National Airs - Max Saunders
Smile My Love - Hans May
Radiation Area - George Arnos
Dialogue of the Electrons - Jack Beaver
Mob Violence 5 [sometimes called Mob Violence (e)]- Trevor Duncan

The two Matyas Seiber recordings DO still exist in the BBC archives, but getting to them without inside 'help' is impossible.}

Since Silva Screen released music/special sounds from The Krotons, The Caves of Androzani and Ghost Light for the 50th Anniversary , i think they should continue releasing classic stories full soundtrack. I know we have the suites to the stories through the 4 and 11 Disc Sets, but i think they should release stuff from each Doctor

My Opinion is
1st - Stock Music from a episode.
2nd - Stock Music from a episode, or The Seeds of Death.
3rd - One of Carey Blyton's scores or a Dudley Simpson release from what exists.
4th - Revenge of the Cybermen, The Sun Makers or over Simpson scores or one of BBC Radiophonic Workshop Scores that hasn't been released.
5th - One of BBC Radiophonic Workshop, all of them are good!
6th - Timelash
7th - Survival

"So Sam scored the first episode and got me to do some source music (music actually used on screen in the show) and to engineer/mix the score." - Dan Watts (Source (http://fernyfilms.wordpress.com/2012/05/02/10-questions-with-composer-dan-watts/)).
Basically, if you read the fourth section of the first interview I linked, Dan Watts explains how much he scored for each series, percentage wise.

Silence in the Library
Forest of the Dead
Turn Left
The Stolen Earth
Journey's End
The Waters of Mars
Flesh and Stone
Vampires of Venice
Amy's Choice
The Hungry Earth
Cold Blood
Vimncent and the Doctor
The Lodger
The Pandorica Opens
The Big Bang

Additionally, I have two folders marked Series 3 Unreleased Music, Series 4 Unreleased Music, and the 2009 Specials Unreleased Music respectively.

I haven't listened to them in a while, and the quality of some of them is ropey I seem to remember. The poor ones I think might have come from another website and not this thread. There must have been efforts from later series, but if I have them, I haven't had the time to sort them out into albums. (Anyone else help with providing those?)

If there's any there you want, list the titles and I'll upload when I have more time.

Does anyone have DRMatt's last release of Arc of Inifinity? I seem to have deleted mine by accident.

The soundcloud samples are just that: Samples. I fully intend to "release" all eleven "discs" here as downloadable links. Not all tracks featured on Soundcloud will definitely be included on the "discs" due to time constraints for those who wish to burn the music to 80 minute discs.

A subsidiary set may be issued with the odds and ends of leftovers that don't make the final tracklists. I haven't figured that bit out yet. Still waiting on help with one specific set of music from an earlier Doctor and trying to sort what Pertwee and Tom Baker episodes I'll be able to use with minimal FX and noises for Dudley Simpson's work. I don't want to just pad those two discs out with ridiculously long suites for episodes like "The Sea Devils" and "The Seeds Of Doom", ya know? That's not very original. ;)

Sort of a mixture. I've used the Series 1 master tapes that Amanda originally provided as a basis for most of Eccleston. Nothing really major from Gold's run except the suites will be new to fans because I personally mixed/created the suites. Other than that... pretty much everything provided here by all you lovely fans who do "unreleased" Gold sets and the official releases were used. Still trying to figure out a CLEAN source for "Day of the Doctor". I'd hate to not be able to include the 50th anniversary special at ALL.

Whoever created the original artwork that Mr Gold used didn't seem to actually care about where the images came from. I'm far too anal retentive to ever use an image not from the series/episode the image is meant to represent. But, and this has nothing to do with Mr Gold, its always artist's choice for what images get used in custom fan artwork. I do love most of those custom images that Mr gold found for the covers. Very fun.

Some potential news:

Robert Downey Jr. Speaks on Potential Doctor Who Role

Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr. has opened the door to a potential leading future role in Doctor Who, praising the series and claiming “anything’s possible.”

Speaking on Reddit, Downey Jr, star of the blockbuster Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes franchises, was asked whether he would ever take a starring role in the show, he was enthusiastic in response:

It's funny you'd bring that up. A writer asked me to watch a particular episode about a month ago, in hopes of helping us break story on a project. An incredible series. Anything's possible. Robert Downey Jr.

Downey Jr, alongside Johnny Depp, has been one of the speculated names linked to a future Doctor Who movie, with Harry Potter director David Yates in the frame to direct and Jane Tranter to direct. Yates told Variety in 2011 that “we’re looking at writers now. We’re going to spend two or three years to get it right.”

I'm currently compiling a selection of tracks from the first episode of the K9 spin-off, Regeneration. If anyone wants me to, I can sometime later expand it to the full episode score. I decided against ripping the full score, due to K9 being the one Doctor Who spin-off that not many people even know or care about... (I can get the music from the first 12 episodes only, due to only having 'VOL. 1' on DVD, which is a shame, as there's a great piece from the series final that I'd like to extract; when the Professor finally goes outside)

He has previously posted 'UNIT Arrive' and 'Anti-Gravity Clamps' from Planet of the Dead. Nothing from The Next Doctor though.

CGCJ has made a downloadable folder of them all. That's great. I'll probably look through The Next Doctor and see if theres anything I can get. Last time I looked there was nothing to rip that I could clean up but maybe I've missed something.
