Judging by the slipcase, it would seem as if John Baker's "Musak" from the Macra Terror or the Invasion (or both) is going to be included. Also, I suspect that there might be some Dudley Simpson music from the Ice Warriors as there was a little of his music on the DVD's photo gallery.

Well that music was previously most prominently used for a scene where a spaceship flies over London so it fits nicely IMO. Only a tiny tiny tiny tiny fraction of viewers would have any idea that track is titled "Slitheen" on the OST. It is a great action cue so it would be a shame to ditch it entirely just because the Slitheen were long ago relegated to Sarah Jane Adventures. :)

A news article:
25/11/13 - Another Who story has been found
The Mirror is reporting that the BBC is due to reveal that another classic Doctor Who story has been found in its entirety.
If the report is to be believed, all seven missing episodes from the 1954 William Hartnell story Marco Polo, have been unearthed - with the BBC due to make an official announcement in December.
According to a source close to the project: "This new discovery is all down to a dedicated fan who spent ages recording the episodes back in the sixties. The recording – which is a silent film – came out really clearly so it will be easy to watch… the fan did it in a very professional way.
"There are already audio recordings of the episodes so the Beeb have had to match everything up. There are some gaps in the audio so it has been a painstaking process. Where there are gaps in audio they are going to be re-recorded using contemporary actors who sound as close to the original actors as possible."
Sounds like a really garbled tale, doesn't it?

The title of the Christmas Special has been announced: The Time of the Doctor
http://images.doctorwhonews.net/image.php?pid=12296
Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.

Steve Roberts (BBC restoration team) on any more episodes being found:
"I had the opportunity to speak to both Phil Morris and Dick Fiddy yesterday at the ExCel event. Phil confirmed that no other DW episodes have been handed over other than the two stories available on iTunes. Dick confirmed that the BFI aren't, and haven't, been working on any material from Phil. So if there's ANY truth in the current Marco Polo rumour (which I highly doubt), it has nothing to do with either TIEA or the BFI. "

That is an oddly worded denial of Marco Polo being discovered, isn't it? If it hasn't been found then why not say "Marco Polo has not been found"?
It appears to say nothing more than if Marco Polo HAS been found then the BFI haven't restored it. Well ok, I can believe that, but it doesn't mean that NO-ONE has restored it. Episodes being "handed over" to the BBC isn't necessary in this digital age. A few clicks on a computer somewhere and the whole of Marco Polo could appear on a BBC hard drive. No handing over necessary at all. The BBC have always said that if episodes are found they don't WANT the actual original film reels, just a copy of the episode for their own use. That denial is so not a denial that it makes me think Marco Polo HAS been found! That would be wonderful if true.
Anyway, about music.... At the Celebration before some of the smaller Classic Panels there was background music playing, I recognised some of the tracks as 60s and 70s Doctor Who [definitely remember The Invasion was in there] but the arrangements sounded a little different from what I am familiar with. I asked the sound guy what he was playing but he didn't know. Did anyone hear these tracks over the weekend? Maybe the speaker set up just made it sound different from what I am used to?

Hey, outta curiosity, is there an "extended" or alternate version to the Season 5 "Time-Vortex Promo" theme (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpbmMhNe6aA)? I could have sworn I heard a variation of it recently, but with all the 50th Anniversary material of late, I have no idea. May have been one of the dozens of Specials of late. Just one of those tunes that run 'round your head and pops in out of nowhere.
Anyway, thanks for all the music!

In other news: they're only releasing 1,000 copies of the 11 disc set. Ok, so I was bored and decided to rip the samples for the 4 disc 50th Anniversary Collection that's coming out soon. I omitted Disc 4 since it seems that there is nothing new for the Murray Gold stuff - plus Amazon UK's samples were mislabeled on a few tracks, so I didn't bother with it.

I should mention, this thread being what it is, that some Who (and Torchwood) music is used regularly in the build up to home matches at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. As far as I can make out, the sequence starts with a segment from Torchwood title music and segues into an edited together sequence from tracks in nuWho series three as the teams are announced and enter the pitch.

I have no clue why. They licenced the series 5 theme, the new ones are remixes, surely they run under the same licence.
Guess this means no Day Of The Doctor closing credits theme tune either. Very disappointing :(

Luckily, once the Bluray rips appear online, someone can rip the closing credits in the best quality possible :D
Still, it's way odd they don't have the licence for a theme remix. Still, hoping for a CD release with Day and Time of the Doctor, both in the same CD if they want, or two CDs each, which I doubt heavily since there was not so much new music in Day.

As much as i like the new theme from Day, I REALLY loved the series 7 themes. And your right, It doesn't make sense how they don't have the licence for a remix of Doctor Who XI. The Day theme is also a remix of Doctor Who XI but even more stripped back than the Series 7 Part 2 theme. It's a shame.
Having looked at the tweet again, They actually say that the themes are not 'Available' to them for Licence. Sound's like the powers that be won't give Silvascreen copies of the 2 theme remixes. Bloody BBC. Same outcome as the 50 years theme by Strings and Tins. Can't release it because of theme licence rights to the BBC.

May I ask where you found the Series 5 Overture track? Its the I Am The Doctor variation from the adventure games trailer. Did you get it from a 5.1 rip? I'd love to have the AC3 file of that track to see if i can remove the sfx like the dalek gun and crash sound.

Let me tell you a story (sadly not in FLAC)
As the medic entered the fourth dimension (

http://www.sendspace.com/file/v9phyv), he discovered upon exiting that he had become a howelling legend (

http://www.sendspace.com/file/69xvbd) had passed, and he was now in a different regeneration.
Looking in the mirror at the body in question (
http://www.sendspace.com/file/pfnz7s), he could hear music from the workshop (
http://www.sendspace.com/file/mqpbob) nearby...

Day of the Doctor Bootleg Soundtrack
Well, it's by no means perfect... the 5.1 mix was unusually full of expansive sound effects, but I suppose that's to be expected! Anyway, this is every salvageable music cue from the story. I only omitted three or four very quiet cues from this, mostly because of excessively loud fx.
Hopefully this should tide us over until any official release.

Impossible Choice is from the S5 ep "Amy's Choice" when the Dream Lord asks Amy to choose between Rory and the Doctor. Not all of the track is used and some of it is split up between scenes. Best placement I think would be after "This Is the Dream". Seems to flow better...

I loved the Pertwee compilation of TV Ripped music you uploaded, could you please upload ones for Hartnell, Troughton and Tom Baker? Someone else said they were fixing up suites from these years but I'd love the originals as a stopgap until they turn up.
Also, Chris666eden, I didn't rip the music I've been uploading, simply been tidying it up removing excessive vocals and reinstating officially released tracks. I don't have any AC3 tracks sorry and I think the music came from the 'Coming Soon' trailer after Eleventh Hour in some countries.

Uh, hi. I'm new to the Whoverse. (That's what they call it right?) I'm three years behind, just now finished series 4 of the new series. Searching this thread is a nightmare-- is the music for doctors 9 and ten in here somewhere? Page 1 has dead links and this thread is so long. Can anyone assist?
I'm really interested in the music in this clip, (I have it starting just before, the music begins shortly after Donna leaves the room.) from "Journey's End" in Series 4. :
http://youtu.be/ScUgeZ-fvvU?t=3m52s It has been repeated several times, I thought it was probably called "Donna's Theme" but no luck.

I have to listen, but tracks for the Series 4 OST include The Rueful fate of Donna Noble and A Dazzling End. Could be there. Like I said, I'd have to listen. Music for Doctor 9 is available on the officially released Series 1 & 2 soundtrack and the unofficial Master tapes, both of which I posted here within the last month or so, and also in the download forum on their own threads. Other members have ripped relatively clean tracks for the series and posted within this thread in bits over the last few pages. Start from the last post and work backwards. Doctor 10 has had music released on the official Series 1 &2, Series 3, Series 4 and Series 4 Specials soundtracks, and the unofficial Master Tapes and Girl In The Fireplace posts, I also posted those in their own threads. Likewise there are several posts of clean-ish tracks as well. Doctor 11 has music released in the Series 5, 6, and 7, Christmas Carol, Doctor Widow & Wardrobe & The Snowmen soundtracks. We again have many dvd/blu-ray rips of these scores. Just work backwards in the thread.

It was used a few times in the Tenth Doctors era but sadly this piece of music hasn't been released. Its a shame as its a gorgeous piece of music. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it might be on the 50th anniversary 11 disc soundtrack next year.

It was first used during the last scene of "The Runaway Bride", and featured melancholic versions of "The Doctor Forever" and "The Doctor's Theme". Also used when Donna went home in "The Sontaran Stratagem", I think. There are a few ripped versions floating around, but nothing official for some reason.
EDIT: The very last piece heard in the episode is "The Dream of a Normal Death", which appeared on the Series 3 soundtrack, but I don't think that was the one you were referring to.

Hi I believe this is the track you are looking for, I take no credit in the rip a few months back Chris666eden posted his unreleased album, but here is that amazing track also used at the end of The end of time, when she gets given the lottery ticket.

Thanks Amanda and Chris4ord. Sadly, Chris4ord, that's not the piece of music I'm after. In the clip I posted, the cue (which has several variations) starts soon after Donna leaves the room. (With a close up of The Doctor's Face, we get two music 'swells') SillyTilly says it hasn't ever been released. That's just my luck, isn't it? This little theme that pops up ever so often... the one piece of music I'd like from this entire series, seemingly hasn't become available. That's just criminal. As for music in general, I'll take Amanda's suggestion and just work backwards in this thread. Thanks for being helpful. :) I'm off to start the third episode in series 5!

Just as a quick query for gwylock1, will you be re-uploading the final track for your Day of the Doctor soundtrack - as it lasted for less than a second, and for everyone else; does anyone know where I can download Doctor Who: The 50th Anniversary Collection, the 4 disc set to download and listen to. Will someone be uploading a link onto here? And for the 9 disc set also, when its released?
Many thanks to all of you

I have it. I just finished ripping it, but it appears as though the second disc on my copy is buggered: tried ripping it twice now and there's skips in the audio. I'll try giving it a spin in my CD player in a moment to see if it's the actual disc or my computer.

Yep! Honestly, I should know better by now - I know that the US release date for this set (according to a PR I read) is:
Digital Album: SILED1455 - RELEASE DATE: December 17, 2013
CD will be released February 4, 2014
However, there is a WHO specialty shop in the US that gets the Silva releases the same time that the UK gets them - and they just got them yesterday. Should have just ordered it from them and I would have definitely gotten in within two days...whenever I order something straight from Silva, it's up in the air as to when I'll receive it.

Well, I did a very stupid thing... I know this is mainly music discussion, but I went to the TARDIS wiki and read up a little bit of series 5. I love to read about shows I enjoy. Well, of course, the "Story Notes" revealed a crucial plot point. I managed to spoil myself completely. Then, an hour or so later, I figured I'd just search "Matt Smith." Low and behold, the NEWS popped up, with a headline seemingly revealing "the secret" about the 50th Anniversary. So, I am very upset with myself. I've just spoiled two years worth of story with two sentences. Ugh. I was so stupid. But I just wanted to do some light reading. Damn.

The certain just released album....does anyone have the digi version? The track Back To The TARDIS from 30 Years In The TARDIS is not on the physical set... :(
That track doesn't release yet. Its on the "Pre-Order" iTunes version for the US.
At least, that's the only place I've seen it listed.

Feel free to upload a lossless Flac.
My "Era" collections (there are other samples up at my Soundcloud page) will probably only be uploaded in 320kbps mp3. I don't have a massive amount of space on my External HDD to accommodate having FLAC files for EVERYTHING.
We'll see what happens when I get closer to posting the actual collections.

You know what I wish Murray Gold would bring back? Electric spangles. Man, I miss those.
Incidentally, the track on the 4 disc set labeled as "Silence is All You Know" is not correct, it's a different piece of music. The track labeled "Melody Pond" is actually "Silence is All You Know".

Yeah, it's strange. The booklet lists the tracks as going: "Melody Pond", "The Wedding Of River Song," and then "Abigail's Song," but the tracks are actually on the disc in chronological order so "Abigail's Song" is first, and then "Melody Pond," and finally "The Wedding Of River Song."

The 'spangles' were the, er, fruity loops added to the beginning of the title sequence when the new Troughton sequence debuted. They were used throughout Petrwee's time and most of Tom Baker's until the theme was reworked by Peter Howell in 1980.

As Grubbuts said, it's the escalating "bubbly" loop that Delia Derbyshire added to the theme when it was revamped in 1967. As well as adding an echo delay to the whole thing, those electronic spangles were added to help liven it up some. I've always loved that particular element, and hate that is hasn't been used since the Baker era. Apparently, no one's quite sure how the sound was created anymore, and no isolated sample exists, so it's just sort of lost to time.
For me, Delia adding the electronic spangles in 1967 is the classic series equivalent of Murray adding the dramatic brass counter melody to the opening bars of the series 5 version of the theme. I love both versions very much. When I'm listening to classic versions of the theme, I actually hum that counter melody to myself, it's so ingrained in my brain as being a part of the theme now.

I know I never mention anything of the Gold era that I hope will be on the 11 disc set (possibly because we have SO MUCH of his work readily available to us as it is and it seems all some people want to do is go on and on about how we need more Gold music (I digress)...) but I'm going to make an exception....
I'm REALLY hoping we finally get that wonderful cue when the 10th Doctor says goodbye to Sarah Jane. I know we have it in the unreleased cues that have been posted here but it has annoying bird chirping noises over it and it rather ruins such a fantastic piece of music for me. lol
Anyone else hope that one makes the final cut of music for The Tenth Doctor disc?

There were certainly lighter elements in this score than the previous season given Donna is a feisty companion, but Gold's orchestral writing flourishes further here - probably on a bigger budget. Corridors and Fire Escapes quickly became my favorite action theme and I was disappointed we didn't get more of it's variations. The Library section is brilliant where we get some heavy and mysterious themes and musical textures - leaving out the Vashta Nerada and all culminating in 'The Greatest Story Never Told'.
For me the soundtrack was a first step where I think Murray realized that the electronic elements that he had scored for the actual cues, didn't need to be purged from the release like he felt that perhaps 'all orchestral' was the best way before.

Colin's set was completed before those were posted and, frankly, for the Davison - Smith eras I am shying away from "TVRips" (isolated tracks from 5.1 channels are a completely different story!) as base tracks for the suites especially given the fact that so much is available for those stories in clean form.
Perhaps "Mindwarp" will make it onto the 2 Disc 11 Doctor set I'm considering doing. What's that word I'm looking for? Oh yeah... Spoilers! ;)

For me the soundtrack was a first step where I think Murray realized that the electronic elements that he had scored for the actual cues, didn't need to be purged from the release like he felt that perhaps 'all orchestral' was the best way before.
I hope that he reaches a counter-realisation, as soon as possible. There's no shortage of film scores that mix orchestra, electronics, and drum kit (ending up doing all three quite badly) but pretty much nobody with the courage and skill to properly exploit the modern symphony orchestra in all its glory... meaning we don't get cues like "Hologram" (a good theme, imaginative harmonies, well orchestrated) or "I'm Coming To Get You" (all of the above), "Cassandra's Waltz" (a fantastic melody, quirky and original harmonic movement [alternating between major and minor keys], interesting and light electronics, expanding into a grand symphonic waltz of proud brass, exuberant cascading strings, and rolling timpani) or even "The Carrionites Swarm" any more, but we do get endless variations on "I Am The Doctor" which isn't a theme at all; merely a set of repeating chords with a clichd descending bass-line stolen from Mass Effect and embellished with the ubiquitous slamming noises and electronica.
Gold's style (and Foster's orchestrations) have made a steady shift from the early days; whereas the music started off thematic and imaginative, it is now closer to modern Hollywood (albeit better orchestrated,) favouring texture and repetition over subtlety and melody. They used to be orchestral scores with electronics, but now they're electronic scores with orchestra.
I still find much to enjoy, but the best music Gold ever wrote for Who is in Series 1 (crappy synthesiser notwithstanding), The Christmas Invasion, and Series 2.
Cues like "Battle In The Sky" and the gorgeous but brief "Tardis Theme" in "The Doctor's Wife" (which was hastily re-scored with my pencil on my personal copy of the sheet music) almost reach back to the glory days... but they're just a painful reminder to me of what could have been with the very generous music budgets Who enjoys today.

I agree wholeheartedly tangotreats!
My favorite series of music from Gold was Series 3 where he still had much of the afterglow of imagination hot off series two, but with more orchestral material. I like the 'I am the Doctor' material - just not the stuff they went ahead and released of it.

I adore I Am The Doctor. But I like All The strange, Strange Creatures more. I have always wanted to see the real official trailer that was used for. All I keep getting are fan vids. (many of which are better than the official ones anyway). The Girl In The Fireplace unreleased stuff, and the Season 1 material shows how much it has all changed. There is a metric ton of good stuff never let out for series 1 or 2 and it's just criminal. I am looking forward to see what new turn the show and music may take with the new series though. As much as I love him, I wonder if it isn't time to regenerate our composer as well?

Hmmm I'm particularly fond of series 4's Utopia effort, particularly the quieter, dialogue heavy moments and the "oh-noes-what's-in-the-fob-watch?" motif. Utopia also contains a stellar action/confrontation climax.
Rather wish they'd release the whole damn thing!

While I've never stopped liking the music on the show, I think the series 7 soundtrack is as close as we've gotten to the glory days of series 3 and series 4 (my two favorite seasons, music-wise). Gold just doesn't produce tracks like "The Carrionites Swarm" or "The Runaway Bride" very often anymore, which are among some of my favorite pieces of music ever written for TV. We occasionally get tracks that hearken back to ye olde days, but ever since Moffat took over the style of the show's score has gone through a fundamental shift, relying more on leitmotif than it ever has before. I miss grand musical moments like River sacrificing her life for the Doctor and Donna being separated from her husband in the library simulation (a moment I had to re-create myself, as the track released on the soundtrack CD had been altered. I had to edit it back to sounding like it did on TV.)
Series 5 still feels somewhat similar to what came before -- the very first track following the main theme tune is another favorite of mine, feels like it's straight out of series 4 -- but from series 6 onward it all feels very different. Aside from a couple of tracks, I don't listen to very much music from the series 5 or 6 scores. Series 7 has been a huge improvement.
I'm hoping Capalidi will bring with him another stylistic shift in the way the show is scored.
As for that 11 disc set... that's going to run around $230 USD. That's insane, and the chances of me being able to afford it are slim to none. I won't even try to scrounge up the money until I know more about what's on it: the 9th Doctor and 10th Doctor really need to have a lot of unreleased material for me to consider forking over that kind of money. I'm in it for the music, not the ridiculously overpriced TARDIS packaging.
I'd be very surprised if a digital version of this set doesn't turn up eventually, especially if there's a lot of unreleased material. I just don't think they're announcing it yet because they don't want people to wait, potentially undercutting sales of their ridiculously priced "limited edition" box set.

Ah yes, I take it back... there was some rather good stuff in there. I believe you're thinking about Series 3, though... The Master Vainglorious, aside from that electronic gurgling noise (which always has me running for the toilet) is a great cue - and The Master's leitmotif is right out of John Williams' "Su-Per Man!" book.
I was also quite fond of the off-rhythm Goldsmithian action in "Drowning Dry" - complete with the shifting time signatures from Capricorn One.
On reflection, the rot came in quite quickly after the Doctor lost his theme and instead gained a motif. That tendency - away from thematic material, towards texture and rhythm... that's where it all went wrong for me.
Gold asked me - very directly - what I liked best about his Who scores, and my answer remains the same now as it was then - the melodies. The Life And Death Of Amy Pond, My Tardis, Cassandra's Waltz, The Blush Of Love, Vale Decem, The Girl With No Name, etc...
I surely can't be alone in my belief that the Gold / Foster partnership is the strongest in cues like this... and stuff like I Am The Doctor (with the exception of 0:44 to 1:08), well, I can live without it...
IATD (the motif) is recognisable and gets you pumped, but musically, there's nothing there. It's a simple, repetitive rhythm and simple repetitive chords that dropped straight out of a pop song. It's a modern take. It's stereotypical Hollywood "epic". Gold and Foster can do so much better.
Everan Shepard
12-14-2013, 12:31 AM
I love all of Gold/Foster works, even the "Hollywood epic" which I see nothing wrong with, since the melodies and everything calm and sort of relazing is still there, even in DOTD.
Still, wondering a lot of what the Capaldi era will bring. For now, the Fall of the Eleventh will be sad
Kitamora
12-14-2013, 12:41 AM
Yeah, personally I love I Am The Doctor. I don't see anything wrong with it being "a simple, repetitive rhythm and simple repetitive chords," as long as it works, and it certainly does work. If they got rid of it and used something else for Capaldi I won't miss it, but I like what they've done with it.
The Doctor
12-14-2013, 12:44 AM
I don't think there's anything wrong with simple, repetitive rhythm, it can be very effective (JAWS being probably the most well known example of that). After all, Ron Grainer's opening theme is considered sacred and it isn't exactly a complex composition, but overall I think I'm probably on the same page as you, tango. Part of the reason I like tracks like "The Runaway Bride" so much is because it doesn't fall into a particular pattern, it's 4 minutes of pure adventure that tells the story just as much as the images on screen. Another good example of this is "Kiss the Girl" from series 5. I love that track. It's only been used a single time on the show, and it does a great job of mixing a lot of different emotions into a single composition. It tells a story.
The problem that I have with "I Am the Doctor" isn't that it's a simple repetitive rhythm, it's that after series 5 there isn't enough variation. With "All the Strange Strange Creatures", they shook up the style and sound, but Murray has fallen back on using the exact same arrangement of "I Am the Doctor" (with minor variations) during the money shot scenes as opposed to doing anything different with it. Hell, my favorite part of "I Am the Doctor" -- that dark, choral bridge -- is almost never used, and has never been released commercially! I had to download a fan remix to get that portion of the cue.
When they decide to shake it up with some variation -- A Useful Striker, Words Win Wars, The Majestic Tale (Of a Madman in a Box) -- it can really breath new life into the cue, but that doesn't happen nearly enough. They rely too much on the stock theme. I thought underscoring the opening credits of The Day of the Doctor with The Majestic Tale worked fabulously, but surely he could have worked on a new arrangement given the importance of the episode?
End of the day, I wish we'd get more... crazy music... on Doctor Who. I'm thinking along the lines of "Hanging on the Tablaphone". But for future reference, my single favorite cue is probably "Four Knocks". One of the most bitter sweet, lovely compositions he's ever written. From the 2:58 mark onward, I'm rendered inconsolable every time I listen to it. I love how it builds starting at 3:21. Just lovely. Murray's going to have to write like he's never written before to rival it during Matt's final episode.

Anyone know what music was used in The Five Doctors Reboot? Especially during the Russell T Davies scene? Been looking everywhere for an answer!

Well, it is what it is and if it works for you, you can't ask for more than that. :)
The motif has been taken to some interesting places, absolutely... but I won't deny, I'll be happy to see the back of it... I hope Capaldi's older Doctor will calm down a bit and bring with him a change in direction and a change in musical style. I can't wait to see how his Doctor functions - though I will say that I think I'd sooner have John Hurt! Best Doctor since Baker, and we only had him for a bloody hour...!!!
The Doctor: Yeah, Jaws! Absolutely. I doubt it's physically possible to get any simpler... But look at what John Williams did with it. IATD didn't get exploited. As you say, we keep getting that same "iconic" arrangement again and again and again.
There was a cue in the Series 7 score which really thrilled me. It took the dotted IATD rhythm and a fragment of some of the chord movements and expanded it out into a really rollicking 100% orchestral action piece. I loved it so much. I remember thinking "Aah, finally, you're doing something interesting with IATD!"... And then I never heard it, not ONCE, in the sodding show or on the soundtrack. :(
It can be done... it just wasn't.
I tend to think that the Doctor, as the multi-faceted, multi-layered, complex, contradictory character he is, deserves a PROPER THEME, not just some faux-epic action motif. He's not some mindless one-dimensional superhero. Amy Pond got one of the loveliest themes Gold's ever written - and The Doctor himself got lumbered with an under-exploited drum beat with some moody pop chords...
*grumbles*
I need a cup of tea.
Kitamora: Frimley, eh? Always go up there to Toby Carvery because it's midway between my place and my uncle's in Reading. Small world. :)

Also, more tracks like "The New Doctor", please. I honest to god thought that was going to be the new "theme" for Matt's Doctor, and I was delighted by how barmy it was.

Ah, yes, series 3. Stupid me. And my favourite series of NuWho too despite some really, really daft moments (but then that could be said of all of them).

I'm gonna interrupt the score critics with very incredible fan made video of Sherlock Holmes meeting the Eleventh: WHOLOCK - Sherlock meets The Doctor! - YouTube (

If anyone remembers seeing a fake 50th anniversary trailer where the TARDIS was on fire, you will know this vid is amazrilliant!
Which Doctor?

The certain just released album....does anyone have the digi version? The track Back To The TARDIS from 30 Years In The TARDIS is not on the physical set... :(
I'll try to nab that track once the US digital version goes on sale December 17th.

The companions always seem to get better themes than the Doctor. I really like Clara's theme as well (even if bits of it do sound like they've been lifted from Chrono Trigger...)
What's odd is I always got the feeling that The Mad Man With a Box was meant to be the 11th Doctor's theme -- I even feel like Murray says as much, maybe in the liner notes for the series 5 album -- but... it just sort of vanishes from the show as time goes on and has been replaced with I Am the Doctor (or when more subtle emotion is required, variations of This is Gallifrey). The last time I can honestly remember hearing it was during final moments of The Doctor's Wife. The Sad Man With a Box variation is beautiful, and I think fits Matt's quieter moments wonderfully.
Having said all that, I still think the Words Win Wars version of IATD is one of the best backing tracks to a speech the show has ever had, rivaled only by The Long Song. Matt gives really good speeches, and Words Win Wars makes a great double act with The Life and Death of Amy Pond (potentially my favorite track from series 5, right up there with Together Or Not at All and Goodbye Pond).
I actually sort of wish they still used The Doctor's Theme. I never understood the need to ditch it after David left. The best time to have offloaded it would have been with the 12th Doctor, now that he can stop carrying around the guilt of the Time War.

Thanks for all the soundtracks, but I just wanted to let you know (if you didn't know already) that the megupload links are all down because megaupload itself is down
Now I really doubt that there will be more new music for 10th & 11th Doctors.
Maybe they will include new tracks for 9th, but there is "enough" music from regular CDs, that they can use for 10th & 11th - just look at 4 CD-set - nothing new on Disc 4...
And this terrible price makes me angry more & more! I really excepted for 60-80 as maximum price.
At least you can take Trek:TOS box-set for nearly the same price with MORE unreleased music!

I hope you can! I'm so ridiculously poor this year it's not even funny. Unemployment for a year is not a pretty state. lol

You have to factor in the "Limited Edition" Packaging, all the unreleased music from the First - Eighth Doctors (just because we have the isolated scores does not mean everyone does. They still have loads they consider "unreleased" for commercial music buying audience) and the collectible book in their pricing. And there will be plenty of unreleased Murray Gold music on the Ninth Doctor disc. So basically 9 discs worth of new material. (Although some will be from previous releases, much will be unreleased.)

No. Just don't. We ASSUME there will be some unreleased 9th Doctor material. Jumping from that assumption to saying there will be plenty of it is premature. I wait for an official statement one way or another.

Given that the 9th's disc is 78 minutes long, there will be plenty of COMMERCIALLY unavailable material on it. Whether we have it here in the forum or not is irrelevant. What they, the producers of the package, are looking at is what is and is not already released.
An official release of 78 minutes worth of 9th music means "previously unrleased" material will be included. Again, just because we have bootlegs means NOTHING.
Ya know? ;)

Reading a given thread/post is extremely important on the forum. Especially this thread. The first post cannot be updated by any of us, only the OP who is not here. Almost all the links have been updated and reposted throughout the thread. You have to start here, at the back and work your way forward to get the goodies.
impossibleego, where did you get information that 9th's disc is 78 min.?
And also about "Limited Edition Packaging" - a lot of music from 1-7th Doctors were released in last years (4 vol. of Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop as example).
While we don't get final track-lists, it's hard to say - how much NEW material will be include.
And another question - why 4 CD-set is so cheap - about 3.5 per disc (if you buy it directly from Silva) - and 11 CD-set is so expensive? Even if the box itself cost 35, why 11 discs cost for about 9?

I dunno where to find the time length info on the new set? Is the time estimate based on cd length in general? Or is there specific info about the length.
