They're not free of sound effects but they are taken from the episodes in the highest quality. (They're from 5.1 copies of the episodes so the usual echoed voices and sound effects are to be expected)

I must confess that I kinda prefer the original scenes, especially with We Are The Doctors, it just felt more natural to have triumphant music over a triumphant scene.

When I was watching the episode, I felt the music used was not adequate. Today that I can hear the original score that Gold had proposed, it feels much more convenient. And the slowdown is much more acceptable with it.
I was also sad that at the end of The Day of the Doctor they used an arrangement of 11's theme that felt inadequate.

I'm quite surprised. I was kind of disappointed with the score of TDOTD, but it's a good surprise to see that it wasn't the fault of Murray Gold, actually.

Amanda

We do not know that yet. The reasons for the substituted score tracks has not been explained to us by anyone. Mr. Gold does have a hand in what gets which score, and he certainly has a hand in what gets onto an album. I am hoping the liner notes will shed some light on this but we can't know until it gets released or if he discusses it in an interview. Right now, we just simply do not know what happened or why.

I've listened to the Day/Time CD and it didn't bring the TV episodes back to mind much at all! How much of it is unused music? Perhaps it was tracked music used in the big scenes, and none of that is on the CD? True, I've only watched the episodes a few times but usually when I hear a soundtrack it seems more familiar than this one does, even for a movie I've only seen once!

Always a bonus to get unused tracks on this kind of disc I suppose (because otherwise they might never get out) but I do hope someone with the necessary skills puts together a "TV version" soundtrack which actually represents what I saw, and more importantly heard, on TV.

Doctor Who Death in Heaven:

Why were the robots heading to the promised land and if so why did they want to get to a storage cloud for deceased minds? The whole season was leading up to this and didn't tie it together!
I did like a few things in the episode but the bad things ultimately outweighed the few small good things. I hope season 9 addresses these things and hopefully we get a better story arc.

Missy tells the Doctor that she has followed his timeline to interview specifically those who have died for him or because of him, once they're uploaded in the netersphere. For the rest, the robots of the first episode and of the one about Robin Hood could have perceived some part of Missy's plan, be attracted to the nethersphere, where they could be of use, maybe.
I'm more concerned with the whole "I've chosen Clara" thing by Missy : it could have been more developed.
Else I've liked the series and the final episodes.

The season was not leading up to finding out why the robots looked for the Promised Land, that's probably just a legend similar to Utopia for the last humans. The Promised Land was not the Nethersphere, Missy just made the Half-Faced Man believe that.

There was no music gallery on The Dalek Invasion of Earth. Just a monotonous sound effect of the big Dalek bomb.

This is a rip of the music I did for my own amusement and edification in 2008. Fairly primitive in places.

Great boxed selection of music!!

I also hope that the Series 8 soundtrack will be 2 discs!

I'd love these pieces to be on the soundtrack:
- The theme tune, for God's sake!
- "You Are A Good Dalek" scene from 'Into The Dalek'
- The beautiful strings piece at the end of 'Listen'
- The music that plays when The Teller first appears in 'Time Heist'
- The Mary Poppins-esque violin music heard throughout 'Death in Heaven'
- 'Falling through the air' scene in 'Death in Heaven'

There's loads more I'd love, but those are my favourite ones off the top of my head :)

Wrong, it's actually a largely different arrangement, without the original bassline dubbed on, less snare action, and added didgeridoo-ish layers. (also it's slowed down slightly)

Speaking of Sarah Jane Adventures music, I have just discovered two 'new' tracks from some obscure BBC Bitesize 'SJA' games!
An excerpt from The Last Sontaran, when Kaagh tells of how he survived and the other is an excerpt from Goodbye Sarah Jane Smith, when Ruby is defeated.
I couldn't extract them from the SWF files, so I've had to record them. I'll post an updated soundtrack for The Sarah Jane Adventures incorporating these two new tracks.

Hi guys,
I'm trying to convert the mp3's using both realplayer and freemake audio converter, however realplayer doesn't allow them to be converted and freemake doubles the length and the added time is just silence, is anyone else finding this problem? Driving me crazy, wanting to listen to it so bad.
Thanks

Wouldn't be possible to rip out the Clara theme? There's no much dialogue, maybe from a blu-ray mkv vid or something?

Also, I believe the S7 theme ias round here somewhere, remember downloading it months back

It CAN be but its just an upconvert to a higher bitrate with no quality enhancement so it just takes up more space and means absolutely nothing. lol The 192kbps MP3s sound good!

By now others have probably noticed, but in the song "Beginning of the End" (the pretty Clara's theme rendition from her family's Christmas dinner before she returns to Trenzalore) there is about 1 minute of music at the end that was substituted in the episode for Majestic Tale...

HOWEVER, the music sounded veeeeeeeeeeeeery familiar... and that's because it's the piece from Death in Heaven at the end when the Doctor and Clara part ways! So cool!! We don't have to wait for the Series 8 OST! It's kinda like how Song for Four ended up being used as the Clara/Eleven phone call in Deep Breath.

So did we get the cue from The Shakespeare Code, with this soundtrack?

NOPE! After all that it ended up being one of those situations where we got a song that was supposed to be there instead. Odd. Did anyone read the Booklet to see if Murray talks about the weird amount of music left out of the episode?

This is kinda like the haunting Clara bit in "This is How It Ends." We all waited for it and it ended up being replaced with a different bit we never heard. haha oh what a life.

So are there any sites (except Youtube) that would allow me to upload an episode to stream?

I've nearly finished re-scoring Day of The Doctor with it's original music. I'd say i'm about 75% done. This started out as a personal thing I was working on, but I thought I might as well share it, so there will be a few minor differences.

Night of The Doctor is now the Pre Title Sequence (Rescored)
Removed that awful 'cut to black' Zygon shot in the forest.
Redone the Moment Projection because those shots of Smith, Tennant and Hurt looking on with tragic images behind them is just terrible.
While original music is used, there is room for other Murray surprises, replacing some of the music that didn't get released. (Some parts that used predictable reused music in the episode)

Just general little things here and there, mainly because some stuff annoyed me a tiny bit but it's nothing too drastic. Except the different music of course. It sounds pretty magical though, far better than what was eventually used.

It's "almost" the complete score. scenes missing are:

The Gallifrey painting being revealed & The Doctor discussing The War Doctor & The Time War (Not in "He Was There")
The War Doctor meeting The Moment (Not in "Who Are You")
Kate Stewart & Zygon Kate "We only have to agree to live"

Just a few tracks not included. Then there's the haunting Clara theme from Time Of The Doctor which is not in "This Is How It Ends"

Planet of the Ood was a series 4 episode featuring David Tennant. No soundtrack release for this was ever released, nor has a complete rip of the music been posted either. All we have for that is the series 4 soundtrack track 'Songs of Captivity and Freedom'.

Having rewatched Day Of The Doctor (Ironically on the 51st Anniversary), I now discover there's quite a few cues missing than I thought.

This is a complete list of missing cues from The Day Of The Doctor that are not on the Soundtrack:

- Gallifrey Falls Painting reveal and Eleventh Doctor's monologue of The War Doctor & The Time War

- The War Doctor meets Rose/The Moment

- The Eleventh Doctor & Clara see the painting of Queen Elisabeth 1st & The Tenth Doctor

- Kate Phones Malcolm and we see shadow of the Zygon

- The Royal Guards greet Queen Elisabeth as she speaks to War, Ten & the Eleventh Doctor

- Kate tells Clara there going to the Tower Of London

- Kate talks about Captain Jack's Vortex Manipulator

- The Tenth Doctor Marries Queen Elisabeth (Cue from The Shakespeare Code)

- The Eleventh Doctor phones McGillop to take Gallifrey Falls painting to the Black Archive / Kate & Zygon Kate argue over the nuclear countdown

- The Tenth & Eleventh Doctor's telling Kate about their decision in the Time War

- Osgood & Zygon Osgood talk about the shape shifting process

So there are quite a few pieces of music missing from the CD. But what we have instead makes up hugely for that.
This may also help anyone who wants to do a complete Day Of The Doctor score including all the missing music though most will have voices and sfx unfortunately.

Luckily, that closing theme can be found and/or ripped from the episode so no complains for me there. Hearing the soundtrack, when WD and the Moment meet, we have part of the music at the end, but I love the original version here, mostly because of the small Rose theme on piano.

I still wonder where the hell Fez and Portal was going to start. Loving the big crescendo for the finale too.

Fez And The Portal could start when The Moment/Rose opens up the Portal in the barn. Or when The portal opens up above 10 & Liz 1st and the fez pops out. I reckon its the second one.

Sadly yes. The voice echo is quite loud and the sfx is always prominent. That's why I hoped maybe some of the tracks on the album would just shove these missing ones in at the end or something but thats not the case.

I just got my Day and Time of the Doctor soundtrack today, and whilst I'm really happy with it, I have a slight problem with the track "2.47 Billion." From about 2:30 there are occasional moments where the music clicks and disrupts the sound. This has happened on both my iPod through my headphones and when I play it on my computer, and I was just wondering if anybody else is having this sound problem, or knows how to solve it :) EDIT : I re-uploaded it, and the "popping" sound occurred at different moments. It's also happening on quite a few other tracks, but I have checked the disk and it has definitely not been scratched, so I'm unsure if it's my computer or something :(

I also checked Mortadelo's version as well. The fault is there, it is just at the very end of the track just before the track switches over. There's no music actually playing, it's just the silence at the end of the track which is interrupted by a cracking noise but it is a little annoying. But every version i have checked, whether it is versions uploaded to youtube, here or mine has the problem. Don't know whether Silva would actually do anything though, may be too little a problem to make it worth it.

Hmm. It's right before the very end. When I play it on my laptop it's there and through my phone it's almost indistinct. Thankfully it doesn't happen during the music.

I noticed a small amount of clicking in a short section of 'This is How it Ends'. It's not too noticeable but it's there.

Yeah it's a tricky thing, sometimes phones wil skip off the last second or so of the track just because of what audio software that phone uses.

Despite it not being too bad, I did get a reply back from that email I sent off beforehand, and they said they were going to look into it, I'll let you guys know if anything does come from it.

As for the things you noticed in the this is how it ends. I did not notice any fault myself, any noises that were in there sounded quite natural just bits of stuff from the orchestra I think.

Judging by the samples, I expected more unused music. But there's still plenty of plenty that was actually used. I post a comprehensive list later, unless someone else wants to for me.

Is there a lot of unused music on this set? For example, I can't place where "It's Him (The Majestic Tale)" was used in the episode. I feel like it was replaced by the series six version of The Majestic Tale in the episode as it transmitted.

This is a problem that has plagued these releases since the very beginning. It's especially bad on the series 3 soundtrack. I dunno what's gone on in the mastering of these CDs, but they're some of the most noisy albums I've ever owned in terms of popping and clicking.

I've heard the "bits of stuff from the orchestra" explanation in the past, and while that's sometimes true (as it is with most orchestral albums), I've got a pretty keen ear for the difference between digital noise and orchestra noise. It's especially apparent when you can listen to a clean rip of the music directly from the episode and those kinds of sounds are nowhere to be found.

In the case of "This is How it Ends", that's almost definitely "orchestra noise". I'm not hearing anything that screams poor mastering. But the series 3 soundtrack still takes the cake for album with the most issues.

As for the Papal Mainframe: it definitely has a very nasty "pop" at the end of the track. When I get my disc in and make a FLAC backup, I'll have to go in and master that out. I hate it when those kinds of things slip through onto a disc.

A part of it is used in the episode, just after Kate and Osgood leave to the Gallery, and continues with the Doctor hanging on the TARDIS, but the start isn't used in the episode.

Incidentally, this is kind of off topic, but does anyone know if Day of the Doctor/Time of the Doctor will be included in the series 8 blu-ray set? I've yet to pick either of those up individually on blu-ray, and the 50th Anniversary Box Set was never released here in the states.

So my copy of the album turned up today. A Brilliant selection from the 2 episodes. unfortunately the booklet with it offers no information AT ALL on why they were not used. Also Murray notes an apology to Silva Screen for this release being late. hmmmmm

Oh boy... that may be our answer there? He may have recorded stuff too late so some of it didn't make it to the episode? Still doesn't make sense why he'd apologize to Silva screen. Unless this soundtrack was supposed to be out closer to last Christmas and he just didn't have it mastered properly or something. Weird all around.

I wish he had Twitter / interacted with fans more so we could get more answers to some of these things. Hans Zimmer recently put out a song from Interstellar people were complaining about being missing from the OST. Can you imagine if Murray gave us the Shakespeare Code piece from the wedding in DotD or the "This is the End" with Clara's haunting theme rendition in it?

And before I forget... I've been (mostly) trying to make sure that music goes in exact scene order on my Era collections but I was wondering if anyone would have an objection to Inferno rather loosely following that? Some of the tracks were used multiple times across the seven episodes and with different pieces here and there... would anyone object if I used the tracks in somewhat order just not trimmed repeatedly and placed exactly where they went in the story? (Basically, I don't want to edit "The Delian Mode" and the others six different ways to get the EXACT segment used at a certain time)

Edit it however you like, going by your already released suites, it'll be amazing however it is edited/mixed. Just go with whatever order you feel is best. I don't think people will mind too much if occasionally a track is not exactly in order or edited to every variation of what it is heard as within the episodes.

at 1:32 in "Bedroom Talk" a layer of the orchestra cuts off for like 1 second and then comes back again. To me it sounds jarring and like a stop and start cut. I'm going to check to see if the episode version is like it. Hoping its not an error when they mixed the CD together.

checked with the episode. the damn episode doesn't even use the full track and the bit with the 'error' doesn't feature in the episode either.

The issue I've had with stock music editing is that not only am I trimming them to fit what was used on the show but I notice quite a few times the tracks are edited exactly the same and used in several episodes, that's why I asked about Inferno. ;)

That is indeed missing from the soundtrack. I think the only way you can get that arrangement of that track is if you or someone were to edit the original track as released in The Specials soundtrack to match the new arrangement as featured in the episode.

I've just discovered one of my suites from the "era" collection up on YouTube.

Its a flawed version of "The Chase" which I have since fixed but still... seeing someone else post the suite as if it were their own is really bugging me. I'm considering removing ALL Who from my Soundcloud. And its not just my work getting posted as their own. Lots of DVD-ripped "unreleased" Gold music that I KNOW isn't their own work and several "abridged" versions of Dr Matt's iso-scores. Why must people take and give no credit? Its not so hard when you receive a compliment on a post to say "This isn't my work, I found it on soundcloud here:_________________" or "I found this on a message board, I didn't actually isolate this music myself."

Needed to vent because its frustrating and it seems that we have someone amongst us sharing others' work and not giving credit where credit is due.

The best version you can get is the version released on the Doctor Who YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxLR6cP1_Q8&list=UUcOkA2Xmk1valTOWSyKyp4g), although it does feature some sounds from the clips featured.

Yeah mine arrived on Tuesday. Alas the booklet has a very tight bind and it will be impossible to scan without damaging it, not something I'm keen on doing. In fact it's not that easy to read without risking the spine - am handling with kid gloves.

I'm only interested because there is information on tapes in it I believe? Could you tell us what it says?

Yeah, this is what I don't understand. They put the mix of Altering Lives in but not this?

Maybe because Four Knock was just mixed around while Altering Lives had some bits added or something?

Still they did put in Trenzalore/The Long Song/I Am Information (Reprise), already previously released but not in this format? Maybe it was a decision between the two?

Altering lives had voices orverlayed and guitars and also featured an extended end portion which segued into the next part of the track. I enjoyed it's reprise considering it underscored the conversation between Clara and the War Doctor.

What interests me now is that he said Episodes 1 and 2 of The Android Invasion are missing. Could they be mislabelled somewhere too?
Also, "Doctor Who Library" is apparently from another source have cues from Robot and Planet of Evil.
And the Dudley Simpson cue that had yet to be identified, Ayres said a while ago.

Thanks. I did most of the editing, mainly using tracks from the series 6, 7 and Day of the Doctor soundtracks. With tracks 1, 6, 12, 15, 23, 26, 34 and 36 featuring music from Gwylock's edit of the soundtrack. Tracks 10, 14, 32 and 35 feature music from tomtomica2's edit of the soundtrack. All of the soundtrack tracks used have came from Which Doctor?'s .flac uploads of the soundtracks. And tracks 11, 25, 29, 37, 38, 42 and 45 feature music ripped by me.

Needs a few tweaks here and there. The Track Used when 11 is on the spaceship has been featured in Nightmare in Silver/Dark Water/Death In Heaven but with SFX all over them... It's been pretty hard.

The tragic absence of most of the cues missing from The Day of The Doctor makes the episode itself a little bit of a let down, considering how fantastic everything else was on screen. Random I Am The Doctor renditions taking you out of the mood completely? Words Win Wars blasting in during the final moments of the Time War? Ever since I heard the intended music I felt compelled to view the original soundtrack alongside the episode and this ended up being a project for me. It's been exported possibly a dozen times, and I've tried to stay as faithful to The Day of The Doctor and the series itself as possible. Whilst making it a little bit different, tightening up some editing here and there, and throwing in a little surprises for good measure. Please enjoy! :)

Doctor Who is property of the BBC, This video was made with pure love for the series and shouldn't be taken as an attempt at any kind of copyright infringement. This video is not used for financial gain.

As I said before, this video has been exported many times and has obviously been plagued with many audio issues. I've sorted out as many as possible, if a few tiny SFX problems do occur than I apologise.

Just so everyone knows, the McGann set will be reworked and revamped all because of the wonderful effort and sharing of CGCJ. I'm actually excited to be redoing his set for the Era collections now.

And Pertwee is still the only major setback in the collections... Figuring that out soon.

Hopefully we will all be having a VERY Merry Christmas.... We shall see.
