Why is that Four to Doomsday, Black Orchid, Time-Flight, The Twin Dilemma, Terror of the Vervoids, Time and the Rani, Paradise Towers & Delta and the Bannermen haven't got isolated soundtrack on their dvds? I know their on the photo gallerys and cues have been released from some of those episodes.

Because some of them were originally planned to be budget DVD releases when they increased the release rate to one a month, starting with The Sontaran Experiment. They would be feature light, although they changed their minds later on. Where they were paired off, like Time Flight, they still had less special features than their partner, like Time Flight. None of the Trial releases had music because Mind Warp had nothing surviving, so for some reason, they chose not to feature any. At least that's what I remember. I was surprised Paradise Towers had none, but then they put in the original score as a mix.

From series 3 on-wards the only unrleleased material comes from the various rips. All contain some fx from one degree to another. (not that I am disrespecting the very hard work gone into them, mind). If you mean unreleased like the Series 1 & 2 Master Tapes, and Girl In The Fireplace, I have not come across any, although I strongly suspect they exist in certain circles. (No reason, just a gut feeling)

A video of the Time of the Doctor music suite from the symphonic spectacular has been put on YouTube. It's 8 1/2 minutes long. I don't know how much of it is new music as I'm only 4 mins into it at the moment. There seems to be a lot of new music though (and good music too, especially the first few minutes and the last few minutes) so hopefully a soundtrack release isn't too far away.

Just finished watching the video, the whole 8 minutes is new and very good.
The regen music at the end (7:10 onwards) is a new arrangement of some old music. Though for the life of me I can't think what it is. I'm thinking maybe something form the End of Time but i'm not sure. Can anyone enlighten me please?

Computer sounds very much like the Cyberman machine in The Invasion but a bit faster. Not really sure.
Spaceship Control was used in The Mutants as Jaeger's lab but much sharper though.
Spaceship Interior was used in The Tenth Planet and The Ambassadors of Death (spot the connection).
Roaring is a familiar sound which might have started with Colony In Space and is used in Genesis of the Daleks. One compilation CD used it for the Slyther.

I've finally finished work on my revisitation of the score to 'Revelation of the Daleks' - various creative and technical stumbling blocks have delayed this one, but I hope it was worth the wait.
Doctor Who: Revelation of the Daleks
Soundtrack by Roger Limb
Special 2xCD Revisited Edition
BBC Radiophonic Workshop 1985
Revisited from scratch to replace the previous edition.
CD1: Original Soundtrack
For this release, I have been able to isolate the opening cue and the cliffhanger cue to Part 1 (which is then, admittedly, mixed into the opening cue from episode 2 lol!) by using the music suite on the '50th Anniversary Collection'. This version is much more heavily mixed than before (only 22 tracks for the main score, compared to 41 in the previous edition) more in line with last year's official release of Roger Limb's previous score for 'The Caves of Androzani'. This new mix has undergone the usual 'stereoification' procedure, includes excerpts, sound effects from the DVD gallery and the music suite from the 'Timelash' DVD gallery (now mixed into one track). I have removed the additional 'Timelash' music suite from the '30 Years at the Radiophonic Workshop' CD that was on the previous edition, as it was recently remastered and re-released on the '50th Anniversary Collection'. It was either that, or redo all the albums that would benefit from newly released material. I thought it a better (and far less work-heavy) idea to keep my releases restrained to material only available on DVDs and (still) deleted CDs.
CD2: Music Cues
All the mono cues as presented on the DVD.
CD Art
This has undergone a major revamp with higher resolution cover images and alternative designs. The better quality image of the 2 Daleks on the cover only became available online very recently, so there's a unexpected bonus caused by the delay. Also included in this release is a replacement set of CD art for Resurrection of the Daleks - there were some typos (Stein anyone?) and design flaws that have been fixed, and I have reinstated the original 'docklands' CD design (I was missing it and not happy with the new design) for Disc 1. Simply copy and replace the files in this folder over the unzipped folder for that album. (If you liked the previous disc image designs, rename them before this procedure - the one with the space station is now limited edition lol!)
Enjoy!

I shall ask them on twitter and see what they say. I'm sure there will be one but there taking their time with it which I find odd considering how much new music there was in the 2 episodes.

I emailed them and they said there was currently no plans but said "Such a release would be very nice though wouldn't it?". I think there is one and they're keeping it hush hush.

There were a few gremlins in the artwork for 'Revelation of the Daleks' - I've re-uploaded it quite a few times as errors were spotted and corrected... the final fixed version has just uploaded and links have been changed, so any downloads from now on will be OK. But for those of you who have already downloaded, here is a CD ART FIX PACK (

Also - a CD art fix pack for State of Decay (
https://mega.co.nz/#!HMpHkZxT!Hghv6QC64foLIGkPunyovW-sls5LxwesRggQtfF9udc) - there was an small error on the front cover (2 DM logos overlayed), the logos and text on CD2 needed some drop shadow to stand out, and the dark text on CD back was difficult to read upon printing, so I've made it more pronounced.

I believe this BBC sound effects album was uploaded here some time ago. I've no idea where it is or if the download is still active so... here is the album for all those who are interested:
BBC Sound Effects Out of this World (
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ud4m772ja20clbr/BBC_Sound_Effects_Out_Of_This_World_-_Atmospheric_Sounds_and_Effects_from_The_BBC_Radio phonic_Workshop.zip)
This album contains some Doctor Who sound effects. Here's a short list of the ones I've been able to identify:
TARDIS Takeoff
TARDIS Land
Laser Gun, five bursts (The Master's Laser Gun from Claws of Axos / Colony in Space)
Gravity (I.M.C. Robot from Colony in Space)
Forest (Spiridon forest from Planet of the Daleks)
If anyone else can identify any others that were used in Doctor Who then please do say so. In fact, there is also a sound effect called "Computer" that I am sure was used but I cannot recall where.
Computer - it is on the photo gallery for The Ambassadors of Death. Where it can be heard within the story is anyone's guess.

Spaceship Control was used in The Mutants as Jaeger's lab but much sharper though.
... and slowed down and 'de-whooshed' for the sound of the MiniScope's internal workings in Carnival of Monsters.
Spaceship Interior was used in The Tenth Planet and The Ambassadors of Death (spot the connection).
... and was also the Heart of Gold in the first radio series of The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Computer - it is on the photo gallery for The Ambassadors of Death. Where it can be heard within the story is anyone's guess.
It's playing quietly in the background when Liz loads up the tape on Taltalian's computer early in Episode 2.

I had a vague plan after I'd finished revisiting the iso-scores to go through all the DVD gallery tracks and compile sound effect and music compilations, but it seems like that's already being done by others here in some shape or form, and my DW DVD collection now a good few holes in it now, so it's not something that I can do 'completely' anyway, sorry.

Yeah, that's true. But even so, it won't be happening for a good few months - still got 7 more iso-scores to revisit (currently working on Warriors' Gate).
I'll put up a list of the titles I don't have when I can - and hopefully will have the whole set by the time I come to work on it. Still not sure what form the albums will take (apart from there definitely being a sound effects album or 3). I want to catalogue everything that's on the galleries and then see what formats make the best sense.

I've been doing some experiments with music from the Ambassadors of Death, attempting to isolate it. I can actually isolate it somewhat but the voices naturally cannot be removed. So what I did was take the parts that did not have any talking and semi-isolate them. I also gave them a stereo-like sound. Here's a video I uploaded featuring the music:

I've been doing some experiments with music from the Ambassadors of Death, attempting to isolate it. I can actually isolate it somewhat but the voices naturally cannot be removed. So what I did was take the parts that did not have any talking and semi-isolate them. I also gave them a stereo-like sound. Here's a video I uploaded featuring the music:
https://www.youtube.com/my_videos?o=U
And the download link if anyone wants the files in MP3 format:
Download (
http://www.mediafire.com/download/pyuu9jquvesjstg/Ambassadors_of_Death_(Kaejaris).zip)
I got the MP3 version. It's quite a hard listen because of distortion caused by the sfx removal.
The lack of original mastertapes of these early stories is apalling and disappointing. I'm cheered up by the efforts on this forum to produce suites and mini-albums, most of which are excellent. What would be brilliant is if one day we had at least a suite if not an album of sorts for every story that doesn't have original music existing or available commercially.
I've still got Dalekdude's version of Ambassadors if anyone wants an upload of that as a compliment to Kaejaris' effort.

I'd love to have it as I am in the process of finalizing Hartnell - Tom Baker and have always planned to use Ambassadors. :)

Marvellous, isn't it? It was not widely known, only when you recognise it and think 'Where have I heard that before?' Two 'stings' from DMP were used as well, one for the cliff hanger to that episode (and also when they spot the Cyberman's boots) and again for when the Cybermen fire their laser canon in Episode 4.

I don't suppose it is, but is Eric Siday - The Laboratory Pt 2 (

I have it in 256kps, mp3 along with series 2 music, but for the series one stuff, some of the track titles don't match the music... (Most of the series 1 music from it is included with my rips of the music from the episodes)

It's very close to what was used. I daresay The Laboratory Pt 1 is the one we want. No idea!
As for naming the tracks used in The Moonbase, I haven't the faintest idea! I don't have a track listing since I flogged the CD and lumped all the DMP tracks into one easy to swallow file.

No I meant the track listing for the Daleks Master Plan (CD at least) from which story a couple of pieces of Tristram Carey's music were used in The Moonbase a year later. Besides, the PABs are inadequate for The Moonbase and miss out a few pieces used such as one of Trevor Duncan's synchrostrings, right at the end of the story.

Doctor Who: A Celebration (Complete Concert) (
https://mega.co.nz/#!mdw2XIqQ!etrqxgj-0DVjyFfMxhI0Mx9ohk54e9GJRCuHlaDVjzQ)
Downloaded from the BBC Radio Wales website at the time (so only 128kbps unfortunately) - the full concert with all the chat and interval Q&A.
Mine is @ 320. Of course the question of the original source remains, and if there were ever a disc. Are these all transcodes of whatever original was out there????
Could you please provide a link to your 320 version? It'd be great to have higher quality original tracks for my The Girl In the Fireplace post soon.

Girl In the Fireplace is Series 2. We were talking Series 1. I have two different archives for Series 1, containing mostly the same music. I combined it all and eliminated doubles. But that is a different rate than Series 2, and my set is posted in here somewhere. Girl is a vbr set. I'd be willing to bet that's as good as you're gonna get for any of these. Besides, the audible difference between mp3 256 and mp3 320 is negligible. Especially if any amount of converting was done to either archive.
---------- Post added at 03:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:22 PM ----------
And why do another Girl post? The entire score was already posted by me. What's missing from that for you to add, really?
---------- Post added at 03:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:22 PM ----------
I have reason to think that these were originally leaked as mp3 files, like many composer promos. Many of those end up in the 128-160 range. I do not actually believe there was a disc, nor anything of a higher rate. I strongly believe all other rates are in fact transcodes and thus audible quality has been further degraded over multiple generations and years. Be happy we get to hear it at all, since it looks as if no real unreleased music from that time will be released anytime soon.
Sorry, I thought you meant that you had the whole of the series 1&2 promo in 320...
My Girl In the Fireplace post was just going to be repost of yours, just with the music sorted into the order of when they were played within the episode...

Not sure if we have any more Dudley Simpson fans lurking around here, but I've gone back to some of the older pages in this thread to track down his music. They were mostly left in 15-25 minute suites, so I've decided to split up some of the more obvious cues from the sfx infested portions. Yes, there will still be sfx, but relatively minimal. I'm starting with Spearhead from Space, so if anybody wants a tidbit in advance feel free to grab it now. This will take some time, as I'm fairly busy, but if there is anyone like me here I'm sure they would like definite tracks instead of overly long suites. (Not that there's anything wrong with the music, it's just that some parts are in better conditions than others.

Just checked. My copy of the series 1 bootleg, downloaded from the pig place the day it leaked (files are dated 30/7/06), is a V0. Examing the audio and the frequency graph and it doesn't sound or look transcodey. Averages out at 222kbps (which is admittedly slightly low for a V0 but then again it could have come straight from a lossy Minidisc). All these different bitrate copies are confusing though, like there is indeed an 'original' or father copy somewhere...
---------- Post added at 04:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 PM ----------
This is the copy I've always had anyway, possibly worth phasing one against another if we were after clues that would lead to the 'original'...

Doctor Who: Warriors' Gate
Soundtrack by Peter Howell
Special Edition Pre-Release
I thought people might like to hear my new final-ish revisitation of this score. Final-ish, because I'm hoping the impending 11 CD release will include a 'suite' from this story, which will in turn include an isolated version of the final cue, which is not available on the DVD. If it does, the CD will undergo a fix, and I'll probably mix the final cue onto the end of the previous cue.
This revisitation is vastly different from the previous edition, and has undergone major work to, amongst other things, remove all the short bursts of banqueting music that occur within the score, and sometimes, within cues. Doing this has involved much creativity in places. (An isolated full-length version of 'Banqueting Music' is included as a bonus track). Bleed through from the main soundtrack has been eliminated from the middle of one track, and various other tweaks have been made. Like 'Revelation', I have used a much more heavy-handed mixing style (there will be an unmixed CD2 upon it's final release) that seems to have worked really well with this score, which has in places, some great Vangelissy synthy moments I love - like the beginning of 'Time to Choose'.
Thanks to those of you who offered me feedback on my first draft - all recommendations have been acted upon - and no banqueting music remains, except for 'Time Slip' where it is woven into the main score, and had extra effects applied on it. Because of the nature of the score, I have only applied very minor stereo ambiance, and I had to apply a completely different effect to the Time Slip sound effects within that track - sounds good on headphones!
For now, I'm only making CD1 available for those of you interested in hearing it. If the final cue is not included in the 11 CD set, then this will be the final version. CD2 and CD art will be included in the final release after the 11 CD set is released.

I have no definite plans, but it's entirely possible! However, writing and production of a fan audio series is keeping me incredibly busy at present, in addition to many other music projects (none of which I get a penny for, and I wouldn't have it any other way!)... so it's not likely to be anytime soon!

The 11 Disc TARDIS Boxset will probably only have 'Banqueting Music' on it, probably from The Music in 1983. Most of the 80's
T.Baker/Davison music on the 4CD is previously released. :(

Any one knows when actually 11 disc set will be released?
Oh, and I like those short banqueting music burst here and there! It sounds as something wanna break through the music :P
But probably that new version is just better :) I understand that old cd1 will be now cd2?

I know this is an off-topic request but I was wondering if someone here might know where I can locate the BBC Records Stereo release of the theme song to the show Rentaghost. I have been trying to track that down for a friend for awhile now and have had absolutely no luck.
Anyone here have a lead on where to find it?

Ooh! I'm 99.9% sure there wasn't one, but if you have any luck do let us know! What makes you think it was released?
....I've got a mono version that I cobbled together reasonably seamlessly from a few different sources, if that's any use:

Not quite - the old CD1 also had some of the banqueting music removed, and was mixed, albeit slightly less so. CD2 is all of the cues as presented on the isolated score (with all cliffhanger/recap theme music mixed out - all recap cues were a repeat of the previous episode).

I've still got my hopes up - 'Banqueting Music' on 'DW: The Music' is a very short affair, mixed into the tracks either side. If I was Mark Ayres, I'd do a suite for this story (I nearly did for my release) because there is some really good original material in this score, with certain themes and sounds drawn from Peter Howell's demos for 'The Horns of Nimon' (on 'DW @ BBC Radiophonic Workshop: Volume 2').

The friend who has me on a hunt for it OWNED a BBC Vinyl release which contained the only release the theme tune ever had in Stereo.
The reason I'm 100% sure it was issued is because this man is like a walking trivia database. lol

SERIOUSLY. Can't. Stop. Laughing.
You could also replace RTD and SM with Dudley Simpson and Murray Gold. lol
I'm currently compiling the music from the Adventure Games, and I'm pretty sure that there's quite a fair bit of unreleased music... The only annoyance I have with the music is that it's all .ogg files

And very low quality. But it is very good stuff. It's mostly all the tracks we hoped would be released but were not like the Sontaran action theme from Series 4 and with the gunpowder plot game came lots of material from Series 6. Some of the tracks you will probably recognise or know which episode there from.

DrMatt, where did you get the music cues from Revenge of the Cybermen from? Also you could add the suite on the 50th Anniversary Collection to the 'Death to the Daleks' CD.

From very rare compilation with Blyton television works that was posted here maybe even two years ago.
And as Dr. Matt writtten about this two or three weeks ago - he don't want to double with material that was released on recent albums.
This is why he deleted original Timelash suite from Revelation cd - it was released on 50th anniversary album in remastered form ;)

It is getting rather irritating that we've heard nothing more about the 11 disc set. Part of the selfish part of me is happy it wasn't released in Nov though since I hadn't the money then but will have now

By the way Dr Matt - really enjoyed the remastered version of Warriors' Gate. Its much better without the banquet music!

Finally finished! Took me a while to get right, and I had to customize my software a bit, but here it is, the CITY OF DEATH SUITE! (Download) (

Just made myself a little Tom Baker playlist on itunes, with this lovely recreation sandwiched between the Invasion of Time suite from the 50th anniversary collection and the Leisure Hive suite from Doctor Who: The Music. Sounded bloody brilliant!

Ripped from the stereo DVD release. This is the last that I shall be able to post for The Sarah Jane Adventures, until I either get the series 1&2 DVDs or find both parts of Sky in 5.1 (And, if anyone cares, I'll upload the Adventure Games music tomorrow)

That's great stuff but one part sounds off to my admittedly non musical ear. The Space Time Music section starting at about 15 1/2 minutes sounds like it is playing at the wrong speed, much too slow.

No there isn't. Unfortunately, the page originator isn't around much, so the first page links don't get updated. However, people are pretty friendly, so if you ask politely for something, someone's bound to help you out.

Just wanted to let you all know that real life has gotten in the way of my working on my Era collections but I will hopefully be making more progress on them shortly!
I can say this collection will be worth the wait... Believe me. I actually wish I had them 100% done already because I can't wait for you all to hear them. :-/
Hopefully soon.
Probably before Silva releases theirs...

Thanks for a sorted out version of the music. Unfortunately the Music folder for the Adventure Games is all over the place. Just to point out that not all the music is here. They sneakily put some Chase and Action tracks In the sound effects folder.
TARDIS has a track in the sound effects folder called Urgent.
Shadows of the Vashta Nerada has the chase music for the Shark which is the action music from Voyage Of The Damned when the Titanic is hit by meteors and there's another chase track in the folder which is a compliation of all the Action based music used in Series 4 - 5.
I'd get them and post myself but i unfortunately don't have the games anymore.

Awesome Thanks :) Thank god the Adventure Games exist so they gave us the opportunity for us to find the music which is mostly all stuff not on the CD's. Shame Series 2 never happened. They had planned an episode with the Silence which sadly never happened. I suppose the silents in gunpowder plot were a tease for that episode.
