Speaking of the tech manuals, did anyone find the studio model pics I posted of any use? I can do the rest, including Enterprise A. I enjoy having good shots of the actual model to go with the blueprints. They often get the drawings wrong...:) Although, the set of prints put out for the Motion Picture are very accurate, and very well done.
I did babydoll and thank you for them...I can use all the photos you wish to give, they do come in handy (I do like as much realism in my models as possible...plus I do love the close up work involved, it's very relaxing for me) so send away and Thank You again....Scott

Looking at those pictures, the one thing that I really do not understand about Jeri Ryan is this: In an interview, she said that she really hated people commenting about the size of her "Assets" (Boobs), and yet in Voyager, she did that "Nude" scene with the doctor painting her naked, although we never get to see anything! Then she did that TV show about the Boston school system, where she was always showing off her boobs, running around in just a shirt, unbuttoned to the bottom button, just being a tease, if you ask me. And then she jumped into bed with that Brandon Braga creep, and I lost all respect for her, well, the little that I had.
AND, speaking of which, with the "New" Trek movie series supposedly coming up, that's what we need, more nudity and sex situations. Why does Trek always have to be so "G" rated, family oriented scifi? I'm sure they are having sex in the 23rd and 24th centuries, so LET'S SEE SOME!!!! :)
William
Well the good news is Jeri left Braga's ass -- after he took her to a swingers party and didn't tell her where they were going beforehand. She was really pissed and didn't hesitate in telling the media about why she split from him.
Olafolaf, "G" rating stands for "General Audience" -- in other words all ages are allowed. Most Disney films have carried that rating over the years. Ya pervert!

I see the sad news is the passing of Fred Steiner 2 days ago. He will be well-known to all Trek music followers. Steiner died on June 23, 2011, after suffering a stroke.
Sorry to read this. Is it true that Steiner wrote some music for Star Trek: The Motion Picture (to help out Jerry Goldsmith), including a track called Meet VGer? Yes, Fred Steiner did help out a little, he provided the music for the Warp Drive scenes and "Meet V'Ger" (although he says his actual contributions were really more along the lines of timings and orchestration). Sandy Courage provided the captain's log underscore which used the his theme. "Meet V'Ger" has been on the various fan distributed releases. The Warp Drive music is tougher to find, but it's out there.

Dear Izbot, can you please look into a reposting of those "TOS Soundtracks" from Seasons 1-3? I've scrolled though all 40+ pages tonight and have seen the images but no links to the musc, I'd love to hear how some of you whiz kids can "musicalize" a soundtrack that is full of bells, whistles, and captains dropping logs. ;)

ssosmcin
07-02-2011, 07:40 PM
No, I think "Meet V'Ger" is supposed to be between "Spock's Arrival" and "The Cloud" on the official CD. There are three cues not found on the official CD here: "Stardate 7413.4" (Fred Steiner), "Warp Seven" (Goldsmith) and then "Meet V'Ger." "Inner Workings" and "Voyager 6" are considered one cue on the cue sheets used for Jeff Bond's book The Music of Star Trek.
---------- Post added at 02:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:32 PM ----------
Addendum:
Okay, I got some facts pretty screwed up. Alexander Courage supplied the Star Trek theme arrangements for the Captain's Log sequences; Fred Steiner had said he "changed timings" and "orchestrating" rather than actually writing anything, but he did indeed work (in whatever capacity) on "Meet V'Ger" and the warp drive music. According, at least, to the aforementioned Music of Star Trek book.

Babydoll, thanks for the reply. I've been wondering about a re-title myself. I googled "Meet V'ger" and found a track listing to a fan compilation as follows:
01 - Ilia-s Theme.
02 - Main Title.
03 - Klingon Attack.
04 - Total Logic.
05 - Good Bye Epsilon 9.
06 - Malfunction.
07 - Floating Office.
08 - No Good-byes.
09 - The Enterprise.
10 - Leaving Drydock.
11 - Star Date 7412.6.
12 - Thruster Suit.
13 - Warp Point 8.
14 - Warp Point 9.
15 - Spock-s Arrival.
16 - Meet V-Ger.
17 - The Cloud.
18 - The Force Field.
19 - V-Ger Flyover.
20 - Star Date - 7414.1.
21 - Games.
22 - Inner Workings.
23 - Spock Walk.
24 - The Meld.
25 - V-Ger Speaks.
26 - V-Ger Signals the Creator.
27 - Voyager 6!.
28 - A Good Start.
29 - End Title.
30 - Leaving Drydock - Alternate.
31 - Inner Workings - Alternate.
32 - Micro Exam - Alternate.
33 - Ilia-s Theme alternate.
34 - End Title - Alternate.
I had been wondering whether "Meet V'ger" is a retitle of "Stardate 7413.4 - Warp 0.9.mp3," which includes Alexander Courage's original Star Trek theme, but it's included separately in the track listing above. And as you see, "Inner Workings" and "Voyager 6!" are also included in the track listing above.
Is there a Trek guru out there that can sort out this mystery? Thanks!

Most hosts allow you to upload anonymously. I expect almost everyone here does it anonymously.
Personally, I use Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites! (
http://www.multiupload.com) as it takes your file and re-uploads to other hosts.
If you click on the "Browse" button, it will let you select the file you want to upload. You have to enter a file description, but that can be anything really.

IZBOT, this is totally incredible! Where did you find all this stuff, and did you do the scanning yourself, or just find it on the internet? Amazing!
William
These particular files I found on a blog I frequent. The magazines I've put up are mostly being provided by my friend Manny. All the U.S. Trek comics are scanned and available in a couple forms -- first there are those from the online scanning community. I think it's safe to say at this point about 90% of all American comic books published from 1935-present have been scanned and posted somewhere on the internet (it can be a little harder these days to find them all since the publishers really went after everyone involved a year or so ago). The complete collection of domestic Trek comics (excluding the more recent IDW-published titles) were released in a comprehensive CD-ROM set awhile back. So the short answer to your question is that I've found most of these online and haven't done much scanning myself other than a few Book & Record sets and most of the liner notes to the music I'm posting. I do own some more rare publications I'm thinking of putting together myself at some point.
Btw, I have all the Trek novels in ePub format (and a few in pdf format). I'll post them if anyone wants 'em.

Do you really need to ask? Yes, we want them.
Lol! Okay but give me some time! I hadn't even thought about these so it'll take me awhile to put 'em together in bundles. In the meantime here's probably my favorite Trek novel...
Star Trek Novel #16: "The Final Reflection"
John M. Ford
This novel presents a completely different version of Klingon culture and society than what has become canon. Published in 1984 Ford only had the TOS episodes and TMP and TSFS to provide him with background. His is a Klingon culture more closely akin to Japanese feudalism and Chinese communism than TNG and later's drunken biker-Vikings who rule by thuggery and bloodlust. This is a technologically advanced society of razor-sharp tactical intellects living under constant surveillance, not the oafish, backward, foul-smelling Dark Ages bullies we've come to accept as Klingons. It's a thoughtful look at what could've been.

Our friend Altovar is almost done ripping the complete series from DVD audio (w/SFX) -- he has 2 more episodes to go. When he's done he says he'll put the best recordings together in one set which either he or I will post here. Much of the music was re-used throughout the 22-episode run.

awesome.
i know there isn't all that much original music for it. they reused it a lot and also used it in other filmation toons.
it's great though, on par with some of the TOS music, in my opinion.

Interesting that it appears they turned this particular novel into part of a series. As I recall when it first came out it was a stand-alone novel. And I agree, it is also one of my favorites.

What are you missing ?.
Okay, is the file you are trying to download the one in post 1069 ?.
The megaupload screen should have a flag at the top right of the screen. If the flag is that of Germany, then click on it and change it to the appropriate flag to change the text to english.
If it's still stopping you from downloading because it thinks you are still downloading, then re-boot your computer.

And naturally I post these sorts of things for preview purposes only and encouage everyone who's enjoyed them to go buy a copy -- the actual thing, in tangible form, is far better to own and possess -- turning it over and over and feeling its' weight in one's hands. The scans of the cover art and liner notes I provide are a mere shadow of the actual printed-on-paper-and-or-cardboard versions. And digital versions of music as opposed to a real CD with music on it? Why, I could go to my local library and copy that to my computer for free and, presumably, legally but that's still no substitute for owning all this material! I mean, if it isn't sitting on a shelf at home or in the office for people to see then what's the point?

Yea, but if each disc is being offered on itunes, that is still just a digi download. But, oddly, it is just what was suggested when this whole Ron Jones mess broke. I was pointed out that if each disc was an affordable digi download, there may be less pirating. Interesting, no?

Ok. So here is the long promised archive of Enterprise refit reference. This is an archive of 269 pics of the actual studio model pulled out of storage, and also up for auction at Christie's. Also included are shots of the larger insert pieces, and the battle damage, as well as the semi-destroyed model from the self destruct sequence, and some shots of the smaller scale Enterprise as well. Also in there is a large CGI shot, designed as wallpaper, from the team that recreated her for the Motion Picture Special Edition. I must say, as a Tech Trekkie (Trekkette?), these are the pics that make me drool, and the sort of pictorial material I would have liked to have seen included with the tech books, like Mr. Scott's Guide To The Enterprise.

Yes, Babydoll, that was my intention. And like izbot, I believe in media. I hate digital downloads, but sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Like izbot, I almost always end up buying a physical copy of something after I've checked out the digital version (unless the digital preview convinces me that there is really nothing of value there in the first place). However, on the Ron Jones, the digital download may be my only option. Like most of us I like to eat and I'd prefer to stay out of divorce court so dropping $100.00+ on the complete RJ collection in one shot isn't likely to happen. Of course, there is always eBay or a used copy from Amazon.com -- either of which may turn out to be high quality bootlegs, which is essentially no better from the perspective of RJ and his label than friends sharing. Of course, given the desirability of this and the potential rarity of the complete RJ set, I suspect that the price will only go up, not down.
On a side note, it looks like 12 of the 14 discs are available from Amazon.com via MP3 download. Excludes "The Best of Both Worlds", Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Command. Perhaps still not the best quality possible, but perhaps a better option than iTunes for many.
I use an Apple Mac, which isn't Windows. What do you use ?.

OS X. The only version of Jdownloader I saw was Windows. If there is a Mac version, I'd certainly look at it. Actually, the fact that it was Windows only rather surprised me. I expected it to be Java-based (due to the presence of the letter-J at the beginning) so perhaps what I was looking at was someones attempt to profit from the reputation of another product by using that name for their product.

Well, we all want to support every project of movie scores, FSM, VS, or LALALAND! I own a TON of Varese discs going back to when they first came out, 20-25 years ago, or longer! I don't STEAL them, like some troublemaker had recently accused me of doing, and this venue is here for everyone to SHARE as much as possible, which is a great thing. Now, if we can get everyone to upload 320, or FLAC or lossless, and record the music without having an open mike while recording (Yes, I ran across that happened one time, could hear the person moving around the room, talking on the phone, and sneezing, etc.) Then Digi downloads would be ALOT better!
Babydoll, thanks for the E-refit pix. I actually had a chance to go over to "Image-G" and photograph the 1701-A and 1701-D while they were there being filmed. This was after some idiot ran a motion controlled camera into the Ent-D, taking out the 10 forward area and embedding a $18,000 lense in the "D"!! I really love
seeing these first hand photos.

[QUOTE=izbot;1693667]I'm very much in agreement with BD, the soundtrack for ST:TMP is certainly the best part of the movie and stands out as probably the most layered, thoughtful and enjoyable of the Trek soundracks -- even if you didn't care so much for the film. One of Goldsmith's best works and that's saying something! A very rewarding listen.

I have Star Trek: Armada 2, Bridge Commander, New Worlds, Klingon Academy, Starfleet Academy,
Borg, Elite Force, Starfleet Command I and II but 2 will not be posted due to it's a private OST (when I get the actual disc with the OST I'll gladly give it out, but I asked for it and he gave it to me privately) and probably more. I'll gladly contribute.
I have all those except Starfleet Command I and II. Are those the two you can't post?

Is the number higher in order to be able so send PM's and did I miss that or perhaps have forgotten due to my advanced years?

Scott's Guide To The Enterprise.

thank You babydoll, these pictures are great and well go along way in helping me (if I don't go blind first) in finishing several projects I have been working on for months. "I must say, as a Tech Trekkie (Trekkette?), these are the pics that make me drool, and the sort of pictorial material I would have liked to have seen included with the tech books, like Mr. Scott's Guide To The Enterprise." as a Tech Trekkie myself I agree 100 percent, why these photos where never put in the Tech books I'll never know, but you have made my year and saved me hours of guessing and sticking my nose almost up to the TV screen searching for a clear shot of the area I needed. Also I included a set of pics from a scratch built ship, as near as dammit to the original as I have seen. And, pics of the Motion Picture drydock during it's resoration. :) Also some more cgi renduring from the Director's cut, and a smattering of screen caps I like.

When you create a message, there's a tick-box towards the bottom that you need to tick in order to keep a copy of your message in the sent folder. The default setting is not to keep it, and you have to remember to tick it every time. It's kinda second nature to me now... it's the first thing I do, before composing the text.

Hello, All. First, I wanted to say that "Trials and Tribulations" episode did NOT use the 11 foot Enterprise, that belongs to the Smithsonian, the 6 foot Enterprise and the K-9 space station were built from scratch for that episode by legendary model maker "Greg Jein" (1941), I had the good fortune to visit Greg at his studio in Marina Del Rey when he was working on these two models, and they were also working on the set pieces for the bridge and hallway scenes, which were also rebuilt for that episode.
Also, I wanted to add that many of these photos have "Taken by Mark Dickson" on the bottom, or somewhere in the photo. Chances are that Mark did NOT take the photos. I met Mark about 20 years ago, when I was working on "Back to the Future" parts 2 and 3, which were filmed back to back. Mark wanted to see the photos that I took on the 2015 set, and wanted to get some copies. I got reprints made of the negs, and then they wound up on BTTF.com with HIS name on them! Fortunately, the owner of the site was a great guy, and had known who I was, even though I wasn't a set designer. He removed the photos, and put up a ton of other photos of his own! This Mark person has done that alot, I have found out. Case in point, he got the photos from the TOS restoration, which were taken by Roger Sides, a propmaker who was working with Ed Miarecki and Steve Horsh. Mark had put his name on those photos as well! I see that his name is NOT on these photos, but sometime in the past Ed Miarecki had gotten on Mark's case about the credits, and they were removed. So, if you see any of "Marks" photos at another site without his name on them, chances are that is the site were Mark obtained them from! Mark is not a model maker, never worked on any movie, has done some CGI work, but only for his own collections, very low rate pictures. Just wanted to address that issue here. I HATE people who steal others work and put their name on it.
And, FYI, 6 months after Ed Miarecki had "restored" the TOS Enterprise, the Smithsonian yanked it off of display, and had another crew work on the 11 foot model, because they had gotten complaints that Ed had added details to the model that were not originally there. He had sanded the paint off of the saucer section, and he removed so much paint, that he got down to the lines that were drawn on the bottom of the saucer by one of the original builders. Ed thought that these were "Deflector grid lines" and so he made them stand out more. They were pencil grid lines that they had used to make sure the whole saucer was symetrical! Ed painted on the guide lines, onto the outside of the surface! These were painted over, along with all the "Weathering" that Ed had put on, to make it look used. The original filming model had no weathering! Anyway, it was back on display after a year, and looks like it did when first filmed!
You can see the finished version after Ed got done with it here:

I dunno bout any of that. I had considered whether to post, but I culled these from about a dozen different sites and blogs. They seem to be like the scores we share, passed around willy nilly til the who and when get blurred. Yep, I remember an article somewhere (trek magazine?) about the model work done for trials and Tribbilations. Some controversy, as the new Klingon D-7 was represented with the panels from the movie version, instead of the classic smooth look. Much how the new digi Enterprise classic now shows aztec panneling everywhere, instead of the smoothness of the original model. bad, to me, as I loved the old look. Good, for people obssessed with continuity, as now all Starfleet ships seen on-screen have had this look....
William, do you have any pics of the models and such. I really dig that stuff.

Also, William is right about the restoration. many fans (myself included) had conniptions about it. I believe the pics from that sight are included in my archive. Interestingly, the Primary Hull disc is in fact not perfectly round, but warped a bit. Among other things. There were also penciled in grid lines on the top surface, and along the rim. It's up to the fans to make sense of it. Some take it as confirmation of deflector grids being included. I myself think they were just guide lines. When these models were made, no film media was ever going to get good crisp detail of them, and many little things passed unnoticed, such as various little joke signs on some panels. Heck, the whole left side of the model was left unfinished. Any time you see that side, it was a reversed shot....

That is correct, BD. Also, I spoke with Matt Jefferies, about 1 month before he died, and I showed him the pictures of the "finished" restored Enterprise, and he looked at the photos with a magnifing glass, and basically said "WTF" (not in those words) and then he laughed. He told me about the guide lines on the saucer hull, and what a moron Ed was, thinking that they were deflector grid lines. They hadn't even come up with deflector grids at that time, it was MUCH later. Also, FYI, I asked Matt about the EXACT color of the TOS enterprise, and he told me that it was a special mix of gray, blue and white. Matt was a pilot, and wanted the color to be a certain type of blue/gray. He told me at the time that there was a model paint called "aero blue" that was pretty close! although I found out that it had too much green in it. The 11 foot model, by the time it had reached the smithsonian had been exposed to the sun too much, and the color was almost blue/green faded. After the show ended, Gene had "loaned" the model out to a school teacher, at a community college in Orange county, where it sat in the classroom, and at the guy's house for over 6 months. Finally the guy called Gene on the phone and wanted to know if Gene wanted the model back. Gene had totally forgotten who he loaned the model to, so it was arranged to be picked up, and somewhere along the way, several pieces were lost, including the two original domes! All the lighting mechanisms were missing, so nobody knew what type of "mirror" devices created that effect!
Yes, I have many photos, but they are just about the same as the ones you have already posted!

Some of the pics in the second set show the interior dome lights, with the broken mirror pieces still inside. There are many blogs devoted to this type of stuff. There is one article about the painting of it, and a good one on the painting of the re-fit.
Now, I **believe** that there were three shooting models. The problem being that none of them are consistent to each other in proportion and shape. Not even including the variations between first, second pilots, and the production model. A lot of stock footage of the first pilot ship was filmed, and intercut into the episodes, which is the reason for differences in the engine front and end caps, and also the difference in the bridge modules. Now, as I recall, the picture of Shatner holding the model, THAT version of it "disappeared", and no one claims to know where it went. Although, obviously, **someone** knows.
The interesting thing about the grids. Even though the teck manuals now put them in, and all ships from the first movie on had them, the original during filming did not. But, the tech manuals prior to The Motion Picture, did include the grids, along with phaser turrets on the top of the saucer (not on the actual model), and mis-labeled torp launchers on the command dome.....

well, I KNOW!!! (thought that would get your attention!)
Richard Arnold, Gene's "gofer" boy, had told a bunch of people that the 3 foot Enterprise was stolen by "Crazed Fans" who went into Paramount while Gene was out to lunch, posing as telephone repairmen! This was supposedly in the mid 70's. Problem was, Gene had the model on his desk when he was photographed after STTMP came out, in the LATE 70's!I had met Gene Jr. at the conventions in LA, he was known as "Rod". He had a "watcher" with him most of the time, a man called Kevin Smith (No, not THAT Kevin Smith) Kevin was a homeless man that Gene had allowed to move into the pool house, and he did yard work and kept the pool clean. Kevin had told me about his many "affairs" with Majel while working for them, but he also told me about how one of the models from the series wound up in the pool one day. Apparently, Rod, when he was about 5 or 6, found the 3 foot model, and thought that it was a new pool toy, and took it into the pool. He jumped off the diving board, onto the model, breaking the nacelles off, and destroying the model. By the time Kevin found it, it was totally waterlogged. He described how the saucer was seperating, due to exposure to water. This 3 foot model was built by Matt Jefferies, and was totally made out of wood! When Majel found out, she didn't care, and told Kevin to put it in the garage.
Gene found out about it and was crushed, but thought that it could be fixed. When Rod was about 8 or 9, I had asked him about the model in the pool, and he smiled and said, "Oh, yeah, I remember that"! However, 18 year old Rod, when I asked him again if he remembered, totally denied the event had ever taken place, and fell back on the "Crazed Fans" story!
There were only the two filming models, the 3 foot wooden model built by Matt Jefferies, and the 11.5 foot model. There was actually a THIRD filming model in the episode "The Doomsday Machine". It was an AMT model, and you can see it from the back, as it is going into the Doomsday machine to blow it up! And, come to think of it, there was a FOURTH filming model, another AMT kit! Used in the background of "Trouble with Tribbles", it can be seen outside one of the station's windows, as the Enterprise flys by the station, while Kirk and company are talking with Mr. Lurie, the stations manager! So, this is a little tidbit that you can use to fool other trekkies when they say with conviction that there were only TWO TOS filming models! Hehehehehe
The 3 footer had the vents, and was used for SPFX stock footage during the two pilots, and the 11 footer had the balls on it, that's why you see the different rear nacelles from time to time. they just used the stock footage, and figured that nobody would notice!

The front caps differ too. In the original pilot, they were solid, and a dark maroon, with spikes on the front....there are endcaps that are smooth, ones with the "holes", and ones with the balls....I found this site here that has many of the behind the scenes images of it, but I do not know how to dl the images. Can anyone help with that? Many of these are in color, and quite rare..:

Very interesting site, but that guy has his facts all wrong. He's saying that Gene loaned the 3 footer out and forgot who he loaned it to! That was the 11 footer, as I had stated above. I will have to find the newspaper article that shows a picture of the 11 footer in that teachers classroom! It was in the orange county register! Also, some of the pictures of the 3 footer are on the 11 footer page!
Babydoll, you will have to use a "screen capture" program to grab those pictures! He's using a program that is basically a video anti-piracy program, and using for still photos. Easiest way is to just use the screen capture and grab the photo!

Remember the DS9 Episode where the Cadassians and The Domion took back Deep Space Nine?
The following track from J.A.G. contains the exact same musical cue, you hear during the space battle. Music has been composed by Broughton and Bramson and funny thing is, it's not that much generic, that you could find that often. Makes me wonder ...

Star Trek IV and Generations are the only two that have yet to surface in complete form. All though it took a long time for Star Trek VI's complete score to surface but it eventually did. I would suspect though we'll end up seeing legit releases of these two before the complete versions (with out sfx) ever surface.

Star Trek: The Complete Scores Project Season Two Version 3.0
Hey, I was wondering, since I had downloaded the other TOS music that was posted here, are these from the blu-ray discs, and if so, how are they different from the standard DVDs?

William,
These are from the standard def DVDs, not Blu-Ray.
My best guess is that the Blu-Rays may still have some SFX, but that it might be less because of the new 7.1 mix. Also, I would think there is a chance that the problem of voice echos might be lessened on the Blu 7.1 mix.
A good test (if anyone out there has the equipment to try it) would be to rip the audio from Charlie X. Specifically, rip the audio from the scene where Charlie and Kirk are wrestling, and Charlie makes the crew member disappear. In the standard DVD rip there's some voice echo as Kirk and Charlie face off just before the commercial break. To fix the problem I used the rear channels rather than the front two. The trade off is a more muffled sound, rather than the crisper sounding front channels. Does it sound any different in the Blu-Ray 7.1? If so, then you might be on to something.
Another possibility would be to check Who Mourns for Adonais? The scene where Apollo speaks to the bridge crew near the beginning of the episode is full of god like voice echo (a common problem in episodes with all powerful alien beings). I patched this by using the same music from another episode to eliminate the voice echo. Also, I could never get a clean SFXless rip of the confrontation between Apollo and the Enterprise at the end of the story. Lots of lightening strikes, phaser sounds, and a bit of Apollo screaming too. If the Blu 7.1 is missing these problems then there's real hope for better rips.

Hell Williamtaylor1969 and Veri,
very interesting points you're making here - there seem to be some possibilities, even if they're remote, but you never know. So - is there anyone here on the forum who has the Blue-Ray DVD's, and who is willing and able to try an analysis like you propose? Well, I would try it myself immediately, as I've got the whole 79 episodes as mkv-files from the uesnet (1080p), [DON'T TELL ANYBODY!!] - each file more than 4 GB. But after opening and analysing those mkv files with one of my converter programs, it shows they only have 6 audio channels (does that mean 5.1?) Shouldn't it be 8 channels, if those Blue-Rays have 7.1? Can anybody explain?
Another problem is, I'm a complete noob concerning any knowledge about audio ripping, so I'm not able to immediately test any possiblities to get better audio rips from my files. What software would be needed to try this?
Veri, if there is any possibility of making better rips from those files, I would possibly need your help. At least I could make just clean 6 channel rips of all of them and then try to get those audio files to you (e.g. creating a private torrent), so you could work on them and try to eliminate all voice echos, SFX sound etc. What do you think?

Just AWESOME. Been looking for those records since my childhood. I'm from Brazil, and on the early eighties my dad bought a vynil collection with many, many TV themes (I believe it was 5 or 6 discs). On the SCI-FI disc there was exactly those Odyssey Orchestra versions (however, the orchestra wasn't labeled as the performer, so I've never been able to find mp3 of those files).

Lately a lot of my links have been killed by RS. If everyone can be patient I will begin re-upping them tomorrow.
Not a complaint...I am thankful for what anyone offers however I used to be an RS customer and quite frankly I was sick of my uploads being mass deleted. Even the most dedicated DMCA devotee could not have gone through every single link and reported them so I think it was all in the name of RS trying to go "legit" and killed the links during the big changes like a year and a half ago. Since then like many others I prefer Megaupload and/or multi hosting sites like multiupload which provide mirrors but most of the links by less popular hosts that multiupload uploads to usually die in a couple months leaving only RS and MU links alive. But honesty I have loads of MU links that are still alive YEARS after I've uploaded them not just a few months.

Thanks for the offer. As Max used to say, "Missed it by that much!" The drive is already on it's way back to Hitachi for replacement. More accurately, 'drives'. It is/was a 6 TB G-Drive external unit that was actually 2 3 TB's in a RAID type configuration. At lease one of the drives ended up clicking very hard so it may have been beyond hope. Or not. Don't really know. But I'm thinking that the RAID controller may have also gone out. I'm not up on RAID, but I would have thought that if I lost one of the two physical drives the system would have still seen 3 TB. But the system didn't even recognize that it was there. If the RAID controller was out, then I may not have been able to do much about it even with recovery software unless I wanted to void my warranty by opening up the enclosure....
The real p*$$er of it was that -- not only did it still have a lot of data on it that wasn't back on my main drive after a reformat/reinstall -- but the drive was only just over a month old. I expected better from Hitachi. They used to make good stuff. :(

Yes, Hitachi has indeed gone down hill in quality in recent years. Wow, slightly over one month old and already failing...that is just sad. Regarding your operating system not being able to see the data...this can happen because of a failure in a number of sectors on your HD as well as the controller chip going out which may also cause the read/right arm to malfunction. (click, click, click, click)
I had a really powerful electrical surge hit my equipment last summer and the only thing that was seriously affected was my hard drive in my desktop PC. When I booted the computer up the screen remained black except for a blinking cursor for about 10 seconds then it read "operating system not found". I powered down, removed the internal drive and pulled the jumper plug off and put it back on in the slave configuration. I keep a rescue hard drive for emergencies which has Ontrack Data Recovery software on it so I hooked it up to my "sick" HD and made the other the master. I had a total of 67.8 GB of data that I recovered flawlessly although it took 25 hours to reconstruct the directories and back up to my master drive.
Anyway I hope you get it all sorted and don't end up loosing everything...I have been there that is why whether I need to or not I make back ups of my files every two weeks.
Ok, back to Star Trek...I am working on a Trek package containing all of the tech manuals and blue prints i have that will be similar to the comic book cd-rom Izzy posted. :D

Disregard. I just realized it is the teeny download link at the bottom and that I had overlooked it amidst the mass of the other "DOWNLOAD" buttons.

Izbot, would you happen to have the Star Trek comic from Marvel that was done in the late '90's/early '00's that has Kirk just starting at the academy? It has Kirk, Mitchell, Uhura, Carol Marcus, Ben Finney, Commodore Decker, and others. The cover has Kirk in various uniforms from his time in Starfleet.

I am particularly interested in The Inner Light Suite... though so far I have only been able to obtain MP3 (VBR 256) version (available through iTunes).

Altovar has just completed ripping the music from all 22 episodes. He plans on going back and finding the best versions of the various tracks (most of the music was re-used over and over throughout the series) and creating a definitive 'box set' very soon -- once this happens either he or I will add it here. Otherwise there are already some of his rips on this thread.

William,
These are from the standard def DVDs, not Blu-Ray.

Looking for a little clarification on two episodes...
Which cues are from Unification Part 1 and which from Part 2?
# In Case You Forgot 1:36
# Sarek 1:46
# Sarek Drifts Away 2:34
# Another Captain/Food Fight :58
# Victims of Holography 3:44
# Sacrificed/Mind Meld 2:41
Also, which are from Descent Part 1 and which from Part 2
# They're Back! 2:53
# Hook, Line & Sinker 3:20
# Crusher to the Rescue 1:57
Any help would be appreciated!

this will look strange, but i believe it is:
Unification I: Sarek, Sarek Drifts Away
Unification 2: In Case You Forgot, Another Captain/Food Fight, Victims of Holography, Sacrificed/Mind Meld 2:41
Descent 1: They're Back!, Hook, Line & Sinker
Descent 2: Crusher to the Rescue
a little strange on the Unificiation sequence there, but i believe thats how it goes.
