WELCOME BACK, Scotty! :D How's everything going on the home front? Yes, Jim was an acquaintance of mine, but never really a friend, LONG story there! Last I heard, an unconfirmed report of his death in Las Vegas! I went over to Steve Stockbarger's house out in Orange County to ask him if he had heard anything about this, and Steve was totally drunk, started crying and hugging me, etc. I tried to tell him that it was just a RUMOR, and I was just trying to verify it, but Steve was too far gone, really a booze hound. (just like Jim) I had a confirmed report that Jim was indeed living in Vegas around the same time, but he was living in a junkyard, and he was night security, and the owner of the car junkyard allowed Jim to live in an old motorhome (Winnebago, I think), and he and the junkyard dog were to guard the place at night, when it is the time that Jim did most of his drinking! Wouldn't want him guarding anything of mine, for sure! :)
Of course, by the time the rumor got back to me, years later, it was told that "Greg Stone" died in Las Vegas! Hehehehehe :D

It's a terrible thing that happened to you. I hope I'm not being too intrusive when I say,
I AM PROUD OF YOU for your self-defense. I was going to say "proud that you stuck up for yourself" but that would be a bad pun.
We will be thinking and praying for more strength and recovery for you. I too did not know anything about this.
You made a great role model there. But I bet you would just rather it didn't happen! (My smart aleck side wants to observe that the bad guy wishes it didn't happen, too!)

Yes. At about 2 am I was taking trash out to the dumpster in my pajamas. It is well lit and only two apartments away. Some guy hit me from behind really hard on the head, then kicked me in the side twice, and stomped on my stomach. he bent over me and I stabbed him in his upper inner thigh with my pocket knife. He screamed, he bled, police came. It was a thing. I have contusions, cuts, bruises, a pulled shoulder and two cracked ribs. My scalp bleeds when I wash my hair. So, yea. Neighbors had heard the commotion, and called the police. So he got arrested. I got to go get checked out and "processed". Lost my pajamas and knife..:( I am still shaking. I have sadly been attacked before, but this is the only time I fought back, and I got his blood on me, sooo..ooky.
So sorry to hear what happened to you Amanda, but I'm glad you managed to stick him one, scumbag that he is. You are in my thoughts, I hope you recover soon. <3

Thanks Greg!
My mothers dementia is getting worse! the upside she is now sleeping more (new anti-psychotic drug), she had tore some good chunks of skin off her arms (said she was fighting off someone) so I had the doctor put her on a new medication (gel) which as I said makes her sleep more, but at lest she is not fighting with her imagination or the staff.
He was never a friend of mine either, just an acquaintance as well, through a friend I grow up with, he was to shady for my tastes and burnt several STAR members with his phaser he was selling! as I heard it he made off with several thousands of dollars and LAPD was after him, and he fled out of state! Guarding a junk yard!! sounds like a perfect fit for him and an alky to boot.
Poor Steve! I hope he is able to over come his problem.
Well laddy we all know Greg Stone is very much alive :)
Thanks for the info Greg...

Don't give up Amanda, keep fighting, that is what his attorney is counting on. I know its ruff! one of my nieces (her name is the same as yours) witnessed her boyfriend being attacked by three males and the case has been going on for a year now! one of the juveniles mother showed up at her work and begin to intimidate her, she called the police and she was arrested and charged with witness tampering. Of course she was scared crap-less! but after her dad and I talked with her she is still going forward, as you need to do as well. Nothing worse then that cooper smell! but it well wash off. Hey Scotty,
When you say "STAR members" are you referring to Star Trek Association for Revival? I was a member of STAR OKC (Oklahoma City dontcha know) from 1979 until it gave up the ghost in March 2005.
I ended up with "the archives" and have been putting up a History of STAR OKC a little at a time. Up to 1986 I think.

Yes! Ours only lasted for a few years, and Jim Kirk was the killer! when he took off with several members money that was the death noll!! All I have left is a picture from our local paper of the three of the founders (which I was one) and Jim Kirk is in the picture in front of his van (it was painted up to look like the shuttle Galileo) framed hanging on my wall. On a interesting note! as far as I know my child hood friend is the only person that has one of the only working prototype's (there were two only) that Jim tried to sell! for some reason Jim sold one to him, the other I have no idea what happened to it. Scott, You were a member of STAR in San Diego? Also, which version of the TOS phaser does your friend have? I would think that it would be worth a small fortune, as one of Jim's original prototypes! There was a fellow named Bruce Wegman in SD that also made TOS props, and (as I understand) Jim had gotten all three props from this fellow, and then copied them in the early 70's, but screwed up the phaser and tricorder, so they didn't look original, but made them "Jim Kirk" originals. The communicator was exactly the same. He was from the San Diego area, and was not too bright, as he took a semiautomatic pistol, modified it to full automatic, added a silencer, which both modifications are FEDERAL no-no's, and he was down at the beach at 3:00 in the morning, test firing it into the water, when the "beach" patrol caught him, and he went to federal prison for 5 years. And, back in the 70's, when you "did a nickel" in the penn, you did the WHOLE 5 years, not like today!
I met him at one of the TREK conventions over at the Disneyland hotel, back in the late 80's, the last time that they had the TOS shuttlecraft on display. Ralph Miller and I were there, and he took some pictures of me, and when they were developed, my hair was standing STRAIGHT up! I was so pissed, since that was a once in a lifetime event, and I would NEVER get another photo in front of the shuttlecraft. I had asked Ralph "How's my hair" before he took the photo, as I had some "peach fuzz" on top, and Ralph told me that I looked fine! When I got the photos back, and saw my fuzz standing up there, I went into the bathroom and shaved the fuzz off, and it has remained shaven to this very day. Of course, the photos of Ralph looked nice, as he had a full head of hair. I should have told him that the photos didn't come out and not given him the prints, but I'm not like that. This is only ONE incident that Ralph screwed me over on, and looking back, I can see that he was doing some of those things on purpose, he was NOT a friend to me at all. But, as they say, hindsight is always 20/20!

No! The STAR Chapter we started was in the same city I have lived in all my life, thou I did attend the convention in San Diego back in 75! that's where I met a young lady that was on the board that ran the convention, she got me into to Walter Koenig hotel room after his appearance. The version I know is the only one I have seen and held myself, it had a photo strobe flash mounted behind the emitter and only flashed white, after discharge you can hear the capacitor recharge, the type-1 phaser could not be removed and looked just like the original prop, it was molded out of vacuum formed plastic with all the correct trim (aluminum) and painted the correct color. Even in this black and white photo it looks just like the original prop. Here is the photo if you care to see what I looked like 34 years ago! Jim Kirk is in front and I (Vice-President STAR) am right behind him, a life time friend (John and President of STAR) is behind me and our first member is bring up the rear, I have blacked out there faces for safety reasons and yes I am wearing a science uniform, I still have it, along with a dress one hanging in my closet, they were all made by our self's...

(
http://s64.photobucket.com/user/scotty571/media/STAR%20Photo/Scan_20140325_145344A_zps6f35979f.jpg.html)
I have never told anyone this before...so here goes! I have one of the Jim Kirk Communicators I bought from him! I used it in the photo we took in front (actually the photo is the side of his van where you can see the big block lettering) of his van, it is kept in a glass case and has not been touched in 25 years...and it still works. When you flip open the grill covering you can hear the distinctive comm chirp, the three LED's light up, the speaker/microphone matrix does not move, the trim is made out of aluminum, and it still has the large velcro strip on the bottom of the unit, but the whole unit is glued together, that is why I have not touched it in all these years. As far as I know John will never sell it, or the other trophy he has, which is one of the giant spears from the episode "Galileo Seven" hanging from his ceiling at his home. I can ask him for more information if you like? let me know Greg.
Jim took myself and John to the shuttle when it was in the front yard in Van Nuys with all the ivy growing on it! very sad what happened to it, at lest it was finely saved. We had so many knot-heads around here that tried to take a semi auto and turn it into a fully auto, if I remember right, about half end up dead or blinded by the gun blowing up in there faces! To many people see a Hollywood film that shows a silenced weapon and how easy it works and fires that they think anyone can make one!! lol a bunch of dummy's! most people have no idea that the silencer (the wrong word and was made up by Hollywood) has to be as long as the barrel! so if you have a weapon that has a six inch barrel, your suppressor has to be six inches, so you get a weapon that has a 12 inch barrel! not every easy to conceal! and full automatics make crappy suppressed weapons! with a suppressor (which is the correct term) you are cutting down the noise the weapon makes and therefore you are also cutting down on the gas the weapon uses to move the slide back to eject the spent round and then pick up the next round that goes into the chamber! so what you get is called "High Topping" The spent brass case does not get fully ejected and hangs in the ejection port and the slid will not completely cycle. I could tell you more but I would be breaking about a dozen federal laws. Oh Yeah!! back then you diffidently did the full time and it was at hard labor, even in Federal Prison. I no longer have that problem Greg! not much left on top lol.

LOL No I started out as a blue shirt! the main reason was my height (6'0 feet when the picture was taken [when I was 17, I'm 6' 1/2 now] and the color of my hair (at that time black, now it is less on top and more gray :) ) and I have put a few pounds on since then, when I went to the academy I was about 200 pounds, when I graduated I was 180 and stayed that way until I retired. Now we are talking about 220! I know I need to lose weight, its hard for someone that is half Italian! We love to eat good food and it is full of all the bad things one does not need! it is a in progress weight loss program...called "Push Away From The Table" :)

Thanks for the share, story and the picture! That is GREAT! Here is a photo of me from 1969:
That is from my facebook photo share folder, so you can click on it to see the photo. I had used that photo as an avatar on another TREK board, and was promptly told to remove it, since I was holding a gun, and it was seen as a threat! I had also used that photo on a dating site, since one lady wanted to see me when I was younger, and another woman sent me an email asking why I was sharing photos of little boys, and was I a pervert!!!! I tried to explain to her that the "little boy" was actually ME, and if she would read the caption under the photo, she would know that, but she wasn't too bright, and I'm glad that I didn't take HER out on a date, hehehehe
Anyway, I've been told on Facebook, that I looked like a younger Daniel Craig, the current James Bond, but I don't see it! I'll let you all decide, hehehehe :D

Sadly, I am all too familiar with the Justice System. When I was a baker at a cafeteria, we were robbed and the asst manager shot in the head, I had to testify as an eyewitness at each of their trials, and appeals. (I also had to render what aide I could as he was bleeding out...). As a security guard I had to testify in the prosecution of those I caught (and I caught a lot). And, as a rape victim I had to testify against my attacker, which got plead out , so not a lot of closure there, though that was over 20 years ago.
Time has no meaning when it comes to a human being being violated! My dear, you have had your fill of the Justice System! I'm sorry you have had so much trauma in your short life and wish I could wipe your memory of all the things you have seen and what has happened to you! but alas I can't. All I can say is keep your head up and keep going forward! there is love in this world, it is just harder to find.

Yes, you are of bizarre, and I like you that way. Who wants normal? I tried to be normal once, it was the worst two minutes of my life.
You know how we are thought of not living in the real world, loving Star Trek? Well, when I was a kid, I was a big fan of the Space Program. My Mother got too much of my geekness, and forced me out of being a fan. Then I discovered Star Trek, and was a fanatic, she gave up. I guess she thought if she ran me out of Star Trek, no guessing what I would have turned to...maybe Politics!

Thanks, Scotty. My Mother did love me, and our last words together before she died was to thank me for taking care of her for the last 3 1/2 years of her life. I couldn't ask for a better parting gift than that!
I hope you find some peace and closure with your situation.
Take care, Greg
A Thank you, a smile or tears is all we need! there is nothing better then knowing that the love our parents have given us, is returned freely to them when their time to depart this life is near.
A few days ago my mother had a few minutes of complete clarity (this was my chance) she know where she was and what had happened to her. I thanked her for all the love and devotion she had given to me and my two brothers throughout our life's, the love she has shown to my sons, two nieces and how much she is loved by all of us. She began to cry, and took my hand in hers, I kissed her hand and let her cry...then the moment was gone! her tears was her way of saying thanks! since then I have found peace in those few minutes to last the rest of my life.
For all of you reading this, if your parents are still alive, thank them for all they have given you! for none of us are guaranteed tomorrow and you may not have another chance to express your love and thanks.

Mark, all life is Bizarro! Those malcontent humans that consider us dreamers, are the ones that shape the future! Those that don't dream of great potential are destined to live in the shadow of us! and live a very unhappy life.

That HAS to be a scene from the mirror universe! In that case, McCoy would have said (you can choose):
"Cap'n, how long do I have to wait? You PROMISED me I would be next!!"
or
"Let me treat her, Captain. I'm a doctor, not a voyeur!"

My Mother and I were close, so we always told each other how we felt. My Mother would joke with me when I told her I loved her, she would say, "What do you want."

Actually that was from the LAST episode filmed, where Kirk and the woman swap bodies "Turnabout Intruder" I think the name was! And, Doctor McCoy was yelling at Kirk: "Dammit Jim, I don't want your 'Sloppy Seconds'"!! Hehehehehehehe :D
Scotty: That really touched me deeply, about your mom. Wish that I had a moment like that with my mom, but she was so doped up with morphene by that time, she didn't know where she was, or what was going on. The last words spoken, where she knew where she was, she thanked me for taking care of her and living with her for 3 1/2 years, and putting my own life on hold. She tilted her head at me and asked "Why would you want to do that"? And I looked at her, with a smile on my face and said "Mother, because you did it for ME"! 9 short days later, she was gone, and my dreams about her began. She was always weak in my dreams, but getting stronger with each new dream, weird, huh?
Now, when I dream about her, we are doing all the old things we did, going to garage sales, breakfast at McDonalds, going shopping for groceries, stuff like that. Normal everyday things that she loved to do. With all the abuse of my youth, I still loved her, she was my mother. and I miss her greatly, but I know that I will still see her in my dreams.

I have a question to pose to all you good people. Having been a professional photographer, before I came into the movie biz, I was always aware of the fact that many, MANY times the stars of a movie, or TV show, want to get behind the camera and see what the shot is going to look like! In real time movie making, there are LONG hours where nothing gets done, since it takes union laborers to move a light 5 feet, and that takes about 1/2 an hour, instead of asking me to just touch the side of the light, and redirect it about 5 degrees!
Now, everything on the set has to come to a COMPLETE stop, and then the star will step off of his "mark" (the piece of tape on the floor, where he is supposed to stand) and then come around the whole crew setup, with the help of the director, and climb up to look thru the lens and see the whole scene, as the audience will see it.
WHY????
Is this actor trained to run a camera? Did he (or she) take film production at UCLA? When a person is NOT qualified to be behind the camera, and it only wastes a huge amount of production time, what is the god-damned sense of allowing some star to do this? It will not help out his or her performance one little bit, and this is (understandably) a hard limit of mine!
I was just curious how the general public felt about this situation, so I thought I would ask my friends....

My Mother and I were close, so we always told each other how we felt. My Mother would joke with me when I told her I loved her, she would say, "What do you want."
Looking back on my life I'm sure we can all tell story's of good times and the bad, but we can remember when our mothers would tell us when to get up, when to eat, what to wear, table manners, then we get into our teens and then for some reason we think our parents are dumber then rocks! we can't pick the right friends or even the right girls, and we get pissed off at our parents! They just don't understand us! Finally we get done with school! and we think we can do anything! We have to get away from our parents and live on our own. As the years go by we begin to realize our parents know us better then we do! our parents become something amazing! All knowing, all wise! We get married and our first child comes along and the circle is complete! and starts anew!! Our parents become grayer, don't walk as fast as they used to and they begin to take on a new glow in our life's! Then one day our parents get old to the point someone has to take care of them! Us boys gravitate toward our mothers! then our fathers pass away! Now our mothers are our responsibility! and then we get to know our mothers all over again and find out things we never knew! there hopes and dreams, we find out our mothers are great jokers, laugh all the time, always smiling, and always loving! and then we discover our mothers have never left our side, always supported us! Our mothers take on a Saintly state in our eyes. We love them even more and become very protective of them! we love to take them out to eat, shopping (which we men normally hate), what their likes and dis-likes are, we sit down and finally, really talk to them! only our mothers can know the depths of our hearts and dreams! The years roll by and they are at the end of their lives and we still want more time! but our mothers know that time has run out and are happy to go and we men have to learn to let go and wrap all our memory's around us like a warm blanket, knowing our mothers well always be with us! Then we start the cycle all over again with our own children.
Looking back at my life I can say I am the luckiest man in the world for having such a loving mother! I know all of you can say that about your own mothers or fathers as will :)

Greg, for some reason you think you have not said thank you to your mom! but that is not true, you took care of her for 3 1/2 years and told her "Mother, because you did it for ME" that my dear friend is saying as much as I did to my mother, you just did it in what time was given you! it still means the same and trust me Greg! your mother knows.

Scott, you are wise, my friend! I never married, and no kids. I never wanted kid, because I inherited my Father's mean streak. I had and sometimes now a bad temper. I never wanted to abuse the kids, or wife, so I chose not to have them.
I never really had a Dad, he was around, and didn't want much to do with us. He supported us with a paycheck, no more. I tried many times to get along with him, he wasn't interested. A shame, too, we had some common interest.

Thank You! wisdom is living life and learning from it. You still have your nieces (whom I know you love dearly) so you see you can love children. I to got my dads temper, but learned to control it (Spock helped), my dad should have been the poster boy for the man that should have never had children! his idea of raising children was to say "NO" to everything we wanted to do or beat the crap out of us! (my brothers suffer from selective memory) he was physical towards us boys, but he was a mental abuser towards my mom (physical violence or mental abuse is all the same to me...Wrong!), my father was a good provider (monetary only, as well), we had a roof over our heads, clothes on your backs and food in our stomachs, I could do nothing right in his eyes, even thou I did not back talk my dad in the same way as my brother did! but my brothers just worshiped the ground he walked on, me! I spit on it, the only thing we had in common was he was my biological dad, I took my mothers side 99.9 percent of the time and he did not like that! if he was not such a *sshole towards my mother things might have been better between us, it is his lose, my gain! I learned only two thing's from him! I raised my kids the compete opposite of the way he raised me! and I never miss treated my ex-wife's (2 for whoever is keeping count). I gave up trying to please him when I was 18 years old, I realized I was just beating my head against a brick wall! So I throw up my hands and walked away, I never looked back and never regretted my decision. He has been gone for 12 years now and I still have not shad one tear! And I don't miss him one bit. The only thing I wish is that he could have treated my mom with the same respect my mom showed him. He will answer to a much higher power then I for what he did!
You made the right decision then, if you can't control your temper! it's better to live alone then to destroy innocent lives. Don't beat yourself up to much my friend! it was their chose to live there life's like they did! just don't repeat their mistakes! that is our chose in life.

I would bet most, if not all movie stars (today) do not even have a high school diploma! and directors today feed into their egos on how great they look on the big screen, so these actors think they can become the next Cecil B. Demille, Alfred Hickok or a screenwriter like Robert Benton, William Goldman, Paul Schrader or Francis Ford Coppola, now some actors can indeed write some good scripts, but remember what Herman J. Mankiewicz, in an often-cited telegram sent from Hollywood to his fellow writer Ben Hecht, promised: Millions are to be grabbed out here, and your only competition is idiots. Dont let this get around. All studios today have no control over the actors (Unions and Attorneys) of today, and then you have a director that has to keep their Prima Donna happy and end up costing more money and a complete waste of time! most of these so called actors are only smart enough to hit there mark, speak their lines and look pretty! they get that big head that they are someone important! Hell, just listen to some of the idiot actors that go on TV and start talking about Government Policy or Foreign Affairs! Like they have a Ph.D. in Political Science! and they just go and prove that they are a complete waste of skin. The people behind the camera have collage degrees! years of experience and learned there craft from other very talented people!
When is the last time you have seen an actor that has a degree in acting or a Ph.D. in acting? LOL that's like saying Film Critics have a degree in what is a good film or a bad one, they are just writers that can not write a news story worth a crap. In a nut shell Greg, the director is just keeping them happy and in the process making them think they can do your job without a collage degree! and people wonder why films today have no depth or story! just flash bang and a ton of CGI.

Scotty57 is right-there are few actors in Hollywood these days that have brains. Most go along with the crowd. I had issues with my father too, when I was very young my parents were in love then my mother got cancer. Medical bills broke my family, my father became angry and would beat my mother. I was the oldest and would try and stop it but I got a good beating too. We were poor and there never seemed to be enough food to eat. My father worked hard but was too proud to ask for help. He turned cold toward my mother and was usually angry at me. I left home right after high school and joined the army which my father was against. My father never beat my mother again when I came home from overseas. He mellowed when things got better and took better care of my mother. My mother fought cancer for 22 years until it killed her a few years later. Later in life my father and I got along much better, we didn't always see eye to eye but respected each other.

If your asking me? I have two replays:
1: If I were President, the world would not like me very much! I take no crap off any third world banana republic and return this country back to the people, alone with the money the Government has stolen from them. The only Federal Department's I would keep running are the ones only mentioned in the Constitution, the others would be shut down and returned to the States. Defense of this Great Nation is paramount! And all Presidential Executive Orders would be rescinded and canceled. The UN-United Nations would be sent backing to whatever country wanted it! if not, then just told to leave! and the property would be sold, our membership would be canceled and never filled. All seats in the Congress would be term limits of 2 terms and the person could never run again for Congress. The IRS would be cut in half and all tax's would be based on a percentage of salary each individual earned, the southern border would be closed until we could build the "Great American Wall", with a moat filed with water and imported Alligators from Florida, A National Voters ID Law along with ID for every US Citizen, massive Deportation of all illegals in this country (and before anyone says "What about the 14th Amendment" please check the date it was ratified! 1868!!! and does not pertain to illegals or anchor babes! we did not have an Illegal crossing problem back then! it was written for the newly freed slaves) I do not care what color a persons skin is, if they did not come here legally out they go! and yes the whole famdamly. Murder, rape, incest is punishable by death (with two appeals only) then a swift shot to the back of the head. Return the Supreme Court back to what the Founding Fathers intended it to be! comparing Law written by Congress to the US Constitution! not interpreting law.
2: I know I would not last very long, I would either be impeached or someone would assassinate me! but I sure would do as much as I could before they took me out.

It's been a while since I've been in 'the biz'. Used to Location PA on Canadian film/tv shows before I called it quits. Being virtually First In, Last Out, I was kinda annoyed when EVERYONE would stop to take a peek at the shot. At least they use Video Assist, so that you can have many people standing around watching, save just one at the eyepiece. Hell, even I'd pause to look, but usually just to make sure none of my gack was in shot.
As for the Actors, sometimes it was 'professionalism', allowing themselves the chance to see what 'world' they were acting within, or if you'd prefer the non-BS version, ego. An actor is their image, so naturally they want to make sure they're getting the best lighting, framing, and screen presence. I saw many REAL actors who actually trusted and allowed the director and DP to to their jobs with confidence, only to simply observer the process and get excited about the scene. I also grimaced at seeing several "thespians" offer their unsolicited 2cents to 'contribute' to the process, because their pay cheques were bigger than anyone else. I used to joke with one director, that if he actually had any hair left, he would have pulled it out after Day 3 because our 'star' actress was constantly offering advice on how the scenes should be shot. The only thing any of us really wanted shot was her. ;)
Anyway, for the most part it boils down to the fact that if their something to see, we wanna see it. For the crew, after long, insane hours and legalized abuse, we're entitled to see the fruits of our labours, or at the very least something from a show we're likely never to actually watch. For the Talent, if it makes them feel like they're more than just meat puppets, and or breathing props, let em look for five seconds, then yell "Picture Up!", and get back to work.
Oh well, figured that I'd finally found something to contribute to this thread since I've been a voyeur for so long. That should be worth at least 2 cents! :D
Hope I'm posting this right!

Yes, I agree with Scotty, that the director is just patronizing the actors, who may not have a high school education! :D
I just saw an article on actors in Hollywood, and how many of them should be COMMITTED! The one name that came up is "Will Ferrell"! quoting a "Close family friend" (I always like that one, hehehehe) said that Will in constantly in therapy, and should be institutionalized in his doctor's opinion. Of course, we all know about Tom Cruise, and how whacko he is, and about (most recently) Amanda Bynes, and all the whacky things she's done and said. All the drugs and booze, and all the problems that they create for any production. I can tell you firsthand that this shit does go on, on any soundstage. I'm just glad that I never had to work with Marilyn Monroe, that would have been a nightmare, but they say that Gwyneth Paltrow and Katherine Heigel are almost as bad, and that Gwyneth is just a week away, at any given time, from going into an institution! Just amazing to me! As much as I suspected Will Ferrell, Tom Cruise, or Johnny Depp, I was most surprised that the top insane actor mentioned was none other than Russell Crowe! And they are saying that his new movie "Noah" is the MOST blasphemous movie that Hollywood has EVER made! :D
here's more:
Sean Young dressed up as "Catwoman" and chased Tim burton all over Warner Bros studios exec offices. Tim hide under his desk (according to "insiders") until security could get her taken off the lot! :)
Speaking of Tim Burton, his wife is no prize either:
Is anyone surprised by the notion that Tim Burton’s wife and portrayer of nutjobs like Bellatrix Lestrange, Marla Singer, and every other role in any macabre film that would have her, is actually batty in real life? For example, when she showed up on Craig Ferguson’s late night show to promote Alice in Wonderland, she instead promoted Avatar (which she does not appear in), brought along several gruesomely designed mugs, and was genuinely indistinguishable from any of the weirdos she plays on-screen. So yeah, her niche casting is art imitating life
Angelina Jolie:
Angelina is not crazy per se, but she definitely plays by her own set of rules, especially in her earlier days. Her affinity for blood was especially troubling, particularly when she wrote Jonny Lee Miller’s name across a white t-shirt in her own blood at their wedding or the time she and second husband Billy Bob Thornton infamously sported necklaces attached to vials of each other’s blood in public.
And of course there was that time she greeted her brother with a five second French kiss. The maturity of motherhood seems to have curbed most of her wild behavior, but don’t be surprised if she and Brad get tattoos of each other’s name with their own blood as the ink when they finally tie the knot.
Gary Busey:
Words barely scratch the surface when it comes to describing the insanity of Gary Busey. A single look is all one really needs to determine that he’s out of this world. But there are things even crazier to the man than imaginable once he opens that creepy wide mouth of his. At any given moment he can spout metaphysical nonsense, quantum theory, spiritual musings, or… anecdotes about how he used to rail lines of coke off of his dog.
Is Gary Busey a misunderstood savant? The victim of a tragic loss of inhibition thanks to head injuries sustained from his infamous 1988 motorcycle crash? Or is he simply yet another cautionary tale of the dangers of substance abuse? With the kind of shit Gary talks, it’s probably all three and then some.
Kiefer Sutherland:
Then there are the times Sutherland bought into his own press and handled certain situations Jack Bauer-style to account for. In ’09 he head-butted a fashion designer who allegedly made a lewd comment to his good friend Brooke Shields. And in 2006, while partying with the band he manages at a London hotel, Kief Bauer spotted what we can only assume was a suspicious looking Christmas tree and, in the name of "justice first, questions later," he tackled and smashed it around the lobby—but not before first promising the staff he’d pay for it, of course.
Snipes:
He frequently battled with director David Goyer, refused to come out of his pot-den trailer for anything other than close-ups, and when he did decide to act, the result was so flat and emotionless that Ryan Reynolds was given free reign to go ham on the improv. In the name of delivering this great performance, Wes remained firmly in character on set, going so far as to introduce himself as Blade on the first day of the shoot.
His antics peaked when he attempted to strangle Goyer during one of his rare set appearances, which led the frightened director to enlist a couple of local Vancouver bikers to be his “bodyguards.” The fracas was enough to push Wesley to cut first-hand interaction with Goyer off completely, opting for post-its as a means of communication for the rest of the shoot. Each of which was, of course, signed “Blade.”
Anne Heche:
Back in 2000, Anne Heche took some E, walked around the fringes of Fresno in just a bra and shorts and nearly two miles later ended up at a stranger’s house. The good Samaritan happily obliged the movie star with water and a shower, but got understandably freaked out when Anne showed no intentions of leaving and asked to watch a movie instead. When authorities arrived, Heche proclaimed that she was God, and was going to “take everyone back to Heaven in a spaceship.”
We wish we could say the moral of the story is "Drugs are bad!" but unfortunately it’s a bit deeper than that. Anne later explained that she suffered regular abuse from her father as a child, and created an alternate universe and personality—Celestia of the Fourth Dimension, half-sister of Jesus Christ—as a mental escape from her trauma
Nicholas Cage:
The eccentric gazillionaire is both a weirdo in his personal life and his career choices. This is the same guy who won a well deserved Oscar for his performance in Leaving Las Vegas, delivered a slew of worthy turns in both critically acclaimed films and crowd-pleasing blockbusters but then does certified snoozers like Bangkok Dangerous, Next, or Trespass.
There’s a 50-50 chance each film that he’ll sleepwalk through it, or overact so EVERY. LINE. REA-DING COMES. OFF. LIKE. THIS. As for his personal life, well, he likes to purchase rare dinosaur skulls in his downtime, has a pyramid prepared for his body to rest in after his death (which we admit, is kind of awesome), dresses crazy-style, has more than a couple classic sloppy-drunk embarrassments, and he only eats animals that he deems have dignified sex (so pigs are out). Then there’s his youngest son, named after Superman. That’s right, Kal-el Cage. Marvel and DC connect!
And possibly the biggest nutball in the whole group, Marty McFly's dad Crispin Glover:
What is it about David Letterman’s late night show that makes the Hollyweird crazies choose it to reveal how whacked out of their mind they are? Back in ’87, Crispin (whose middle name is Hellion) pulled a stunt that Joaquin Phoenix would later replicate when he came on Dave’s show wearing platform shoes and a wig, in character for the film Rubin and Ed.
The only problem was, nobody knew what the hell Rubin and Ed was (it was released four years later) and all of Glover’s antics—like challenging Dave to an arm-wrestling match and executing a karate kick just inches from his face—forced Letterman to walk off of his own set. As with Phoenix, you can choose to believe that Glover, who appeared on Letterman twice after the incident under normal circumstances, was simply trying to pull off a stunt, but no one would blame you if you assumed the guy who convincingly played Willard the rat king is also weird as fuck in real life. Every room in his house is painted BLACK, and he writes his own poetry, but never reads it to anyone, and doesn't want it published! I guess that he couldn't stand any rejection, just like George McFly!
I won't even have to mention such notables as Courtney Love and Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Juliette Lewis, and Danny Bonaduce
Doesn't all this really make you feel that your life is SOOOOOO normal? Hehehehehehehehe :D

Who wants normal? EVERYBODY forgets, we have one life, so live it up! If you act proper, your family and friends feel great in the comfort zone, but, then are you really happy being NORMAL. If you are not hurting other, go crazy. Do you think people with tattoos, body piercing, wild hair and very odd clothing are NORMAL? I used to think not, then I though, do what you like, to hell with what others think, it is YOUR life.

Greg, That is an interesting list of actor/issues but to be fair to Hollywood I have seen plenty of crazy people in the "real" world- AZSneed I'm not talking about the "normal" unusual people who like you say go a little crazy-they were easy to deal with and I had very little problems with them during my career. There are plenty of dangerous crazies out there but we can't do anything with them until they hurt themselves or others. There were too many that OD on drugs, the lucky ones were found in time to rush them to the hospital but too many times I had to investigate their deaths and help the coroner load them into his SUV. There were plenty of alcohol related deaths too-usually car crashes so maybe Hollywood just reflects what the country has become. :(

I just saw a news report that apparently, William Shatner was on the news on Sunday night, announcing that he and JJ Abrahms had agreed to cast him in a part on the new Star Wars movie, and it was agreed to by the Disney corporation! I couldn't believe what I was reading, and then I realized that today is the first of April! The only other fools day joke was that Netflix had agreed to bring back "Firefly" with new episodes! NOT funny, that one!
Anyway, loosen your sphincters, my friends, Shat did NOT happen to SW7! :D

NO! Not "eventually"! You need to watch those episodes tonight! The episode where Nathan finds himself married was totally hilarious. And the sequel to that episode was even more of a "knee slapper"! It really was a great series, that ended about 6 years too soon! Trust me, sweetie, you will LOVE it!

No, I fully disagree. The blacklist is a VERY dark mystery series, with one plot twist after another, reminding me of "The Shield". "Firefly" is a very light, fun filled scifi show, set about 300 years in the future. I didn't like the first few shows when I saw it firstrun, but later episodes really won me over, very much like "Babylon 5". I really HATED the first season of that show, but seasons 2-5 really won me over, and I had to go back and see season one all over again. I hope that you will feel the same about Firefly, Sorei! :D

The only problem with dressing abby-normal, the tattoos, body piercing and wild hair is good luck with finding a job that way! I have a family friend that owns his own business and he will not hire anyone that dress's like that, no matter how good they are! most people don't want someone in there home looking like a parolee (most people can't tell the difference between prison tats or pro tats). My youngest brother works for Carmax (one of there head mechanics and chef technicians) and the company policy is not to hire someone with those attributes, if they do have tattoos they are required to ware long sleeved shirts and remove the piercing's while at work, if the person has tattoos on there neck or face they won't be hired. Personally, at 56 years old my body has not been marked up, I plan to leave this world as clean as I came into it.

Regarding Firefly:
I was one of those that did not give Firefly a chance when it originally aired. I thought old west in space, that's goofy...then years later I caught a marathon on the sci-fi channel and after a few episodes it became a binge. I bought it and Serenity on dvd and have been a fan ever since.
Other shows that mean a lot to me besides Star Trek & Firefly are:
Babylon 5 (1993-1995)
Battlestar Galactica (2003-2010)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003)
Fringe (2008-2013)

Sorei, it is just as bad with US series and others on DVD. I bought from Canada the Movies that were the first season to Lexx, they were not going to be released in the US at the time. Years ago I bought from Australia, the 6 episode complete series of CBS's Space Rangers, now this year in US. I also bought about 10 years ago, episodes of Airwolf from Ireland, before the US series was released in US on DVD.
Then come to think of it, it was 20 years after Doctor Who started in the UK, before I got to see the series. It take less time now to get various series, than before, but not by much.

TOS AND TAS, THE ONLY STAR TREK! Well, maybe some NG, I really find most of the series kind of snooty. DS9 and Voyager were sci-fi series, and Enterprise was the Star Trek version of Bobby shower scene from Dallas, except it was a nightmare.

I know I'm late back to the party, but a few notes on other NON-Star Trek faves. Just read they're doing ANOTHER BSG, but NOT the continuation of the 1st two. A THIRD version???? Seriously?
Hey Amanda, I was shocked at your comment that "Almost Human" was cancelled, but I can't find anything that says it is. Many say it's on the verge, but nothing solid. Did I miss a link?
As for Fave Sci-Fi shows, Love nearly all the previously mentioned ones, but surprised no mention of "Farscape". Seriously, Moya and her crew were so awesome, and they at least got a wrap up after they got canned.
Anyway, there's a few more pennies of thought. I keep this up, and I'll go broke! Mindya, I live in Canada, and we don't even have pennies anymore. :P

Dang...name that episode? I have only watched DS9 and VOY all the way through only once. I've got to get on re-watching again if I'm going to compete here.
Anyone else excited about the potential of DS9 on Blu-ray? I can't imagine how awesome "Way of the Warrior" and "Sacrifice of Angels" would look; hell even "Emissary"...
robncat12
04-09-2014, 01:11 AM
They are probably coming up after Enterprise finishes. There was probably less to do to Enterprise for a clean and nice transfer to Blu than DS9 and Voyager would require. This would then give them the time to release TNG and then Enterprise while cleaning up one or the other remaining. I have to admit though, what I am waiting for is the Animated Series to be released on Blu Ray!

I've got a Star Trek esc question for everyone, Who believes that educated people believed the world was flat pre 1600's?

To be honest, I've always suspected the idea of a flat earth was unique to only a handful of cultures throughout the ages.

Yes, from at least as far back as 300 b.c. the educated new it was round. And it is now known that there were maps of the whole planet (Very Accurate Maps) going back even further than 1 or 2000 b.c. including the Ant-Arctic shown as before it was covered under a mile of ice, complete maps of the whole planet. And this has actually been known for a very long time. Makes you wonder why our teachers are so uneducated and why. Other then keeping us from truth. Is it that there's something they don't want us to know? I keep finding a correlation in dates of all kinds areas like history, religion, evolution and truth in general, and it keeps pointing to the middle 1800's thru the very early 1900's. And it doesn't take a lot to figure out which groups were involved. Anyway, just thought it was interesting.

Scooby, the last aired episode was listed as the series finale, which usually means...you know. I see guides saying it may return, but the same guides also suggest Enlisted and Dads are in the running, when in fact both are cancelled. Dads has not had new episodes in over a month. ghat said, any network could change their mind, I guess.
---------- Post added at 01:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:33 AM ----------
Ah. I see. Almost Human finished it's initial run and aired all commissioned episodes. It is not on the fall schedule and no new episodes have been commissioned. The on-line guide I was reading labelled the last episode as a SERIES (not season..) finale. I have seen nothing since. But if it is not official there is slight hope. Fox seems to be having issues and reconsidering it's options. We'll know by the middle of this month when the up=fronts are announced.
Fair enough. It is FOX. :S Was just curious since I didn't see anything official on it. However, it would figure. Any show I like right off gets canned as soon as I feel a glimmer of hope!

Blu-ray is wasted on the older trek. To me. The shows were not filmed in high def. The model work was never meant to stand up to that, nor the costumes. It will look "wrong". The animated....dvd is good enough. There is only so much definition to them. The plates were never THAT clean. It was meant to be seen once, on a tv the size of many tablts. Ultra clean def will not really enhance it. Enterprise and it's cgi is a different story though.
U agree personally i think the older stuff should be left as they are how the are ment to be seen . Its just as bad as they are now making black & white films now being transferred to clolor it ruins it and i like 2 watch them as i remember as a kid (especially tje old trek)

I like colorized black and white movies. I have a few, and wish more were colorized.
The one movie I could not figured out why they released unfinished coloring, is The Wizard of Oz. I guess when it came time to color the scenes on the farm, they ran out of money. I just mentioned that as being odd.

Amanda, I was being silly about The Wizard of OZ, I have it, so I know. I agree about TOS CGI effects. One thing about the original effects, when they were clear, they are better than the CGI. Something about models, that CGI can't do, look more real, in a lot of cases.
Peter Jackson made the re-remake of King Kong, so the now generation could see the story in color. I prefer the colorized version of the 1933 original version over PJ's version. At least, I did not sleep watching the original, like I did with PJ's version.

AZSneed, I have a 32 year old tv that my son plays old video games on, it still has a great picture for it's age. But for movies I prefer my 60 inch HD flat screen. I started watching Star Trek TOS . Currently on season 1 episode 8. Not like watching it when I was a kid on a little black and white tv with lots of snow when the weather was bad. I told that to my son and he said -It snowed in your tv? Kids have no idea what it was like back then :)

Actually, in our living room we have a 32” (diagonal) Sylvania model SRT2432S, bought on April 29, 2005 for $279.99. Works just fine.
However, our Cox Cable signal is broadcast for widescreen TVs (I assume). The four or five inches on the right and left edges of the screen are cut off when viewed on this TV.

Cox cable, AT&T U-Verse and Comcast have the same built in setting to see a channel in either High Def or Non High Def, check your setting for whatever cable receiver you have! Mine you have to hit the "Menu" (remote control) then go to "Options", then to "System Settings", then to "System Options" , look for "TV screen Resolution (HD/SD)" plus with U-Verse if you want High Def you have to pay more for it (about $10.00 more a month). Scotty....Cox Cable has the fastest internet around. It's what I have. You can achieve basic cable with no box. It is not just the cable that is wide screen. Most of the major networks now broadcast their prime time line ups in wide screen with the 5.1 sound thing. Definitely the HD channels are. But to get the HD channels, you need to pay more for the service and the HD dvr. And of course if your tv is not hd it will make no difference.

Yup. Ms Troi there has been full frontal in a few less than stellar partakings. :D
Then Cox has some DVR station somewhere..hmmm interesting! it would seem with basic cable from Cox it is not a scrambled signal, U-Verse and Comcast are both scrambled! to bad we don't have it in my area, I'd like to check it out. Thanks for the info Amanda.

I know how humiliating and degrading this is for you Amanda, but the POS needs to be punished! (as far as I am concerned, he should be shot) but the comment we made has to do with our wife's (in my case ex-wife) and caused no harm. Anyone that intentionally harms another human being, especially a women or a child should be permanently removed from the gene pool. My ex-wife was molested by her mother and step-dad from when she was 2 until she was 14 years old, by the time we got married the statute of limitations had run out! I have a 9 year old grand daughter and two nieces that I am fearlessly protective of! I have seen more in 15 years then most people have seen in their entire life's! it all comes back to people have no fear of punishment, God or anyone else! when you have that combination all the laws in this world are worthless. Parents need to put the fear of God back into their children, teach Respect of other people and boys need to be taught that women are special and should be treated with respect, care and love. As long as phonographic images are allowed freely, women and children will continue to be degraded and thought of as nothing but an object. What I am about to say my hurt you Amanda but you need to heed the warning! Don't put yourself in the position of danger, be aware of your surroundings, and trust no one you don't really know (as in not met face to face for several months or years) and your Second Amendment Right! you and everyone else has the God given right to protect your property and your life! And if that means killing the person that attacks you, they have forfeited their own life. I hope that one day you can find peace again Amanda! Don't drop your guard.

I did not put myself in danger. I am fully aware. I had maybe 20 feet to walk. I was in full parking lighting. I was in full view of neighbors. I was not dressed inappropriately. I did nothing wrong. Thank you for your advice though.

As are you Willy, as are you.
You see, I have told you privately and publicly for years now that I am not comfortable with the way you talk about me or to me. I am not comfortable with your sexist jokes and condescension towards women. You always say you don't see that, that you cannot think of what I could mean. You dared me to name one time. There William, right there. That picture and your comments/attitude. Right there. That is my example.
All these years. These guys, these Gwents, come in here and threaten to expose you, threaten you and yours. They call you a thief, liar and a con-man. And, despite ANYTHING going on between us privately I have always stood toe to toe with you. I have always publicly told them where to go. I have always publicly accepted you and anything you present on this thread at complete face value. Because I have always privately and publicly maintained that who you are here, on THIS forum is all that matters to me. All those links I was sent, about "the real you". All those pm's I get warning me about you. I don't care. I never did. I only deal with the you as presented here.
And, when I show you what I mean, when I tell you the example you ask for, this is your response.
However, thanks for keeping your nasty position constant, you are, as always, a real kick in the pants.
See Will. The first thing you say about ME? I'm nasty. And you have made it very clear you have always thought so. No matter. Folks should note. Because that statement there? That's who you are Greg. That's how you think. That's what I see in you, right there.

Well, Well, well! Excuse me, but I did not see ANY specific name attributed to that post, so it could have referred to just about ANYONE! Sorry you thought that was a comment about YOU, John, but it was not! Also, anyone who is forwarding the recent verbal attack against me for that photo, I had BLOCKED that person long ago, so please stop forwarding the comments via PM to me. I don't want to hear any stories about anyone's private sexual deviations in their private lives, it does not belong in a public forum where children can read them, and it definitely DOES NOT belong in a Star Trek thread, and I have NO idea why those comments were placed here in the past, except only as shock value!
So, let's loosen our sphincters, and get back to TREK! :D

By all means, let's get back to Trek. Specifically Trek soundtracks and links for them as this is the download forum and not General Discussion, right? Oh wait, we hardly ever do that do we? We talk about religion and politics and anything else we want. And certain members are always free to vent or seek comfort here. You know the non-nasty ones with male parts whose opinions mean something? The ones who sit at your feet and listen to your campfire stories? Those members can do whatever, since you approve, right?
Who is verbally attacking you? Not me. But I certainly can, after all I'm a nasty bitch right?
All hail Martyr Greg, our Savior and Jester in one.

Archer CANNOT be back. Why? Because Bacula is the new Lead for the upcoming NCIS New Orleans spin-off. The recent two parter he was in was a back door pilot for it. So he is already committed to the new project so no Bacula/Archer.

I would love see him back at the helm of the Enterprise! But regarding another NCIS spin-off...I think it's a bad idea.

As far as I see, most of the work and speculation regarding this reboot of Enterprise was in swing a year ago. Bakula is willing in these interviews, but at the moment now is tied up.This NCIS spin-off was not planned out as far back as last year. It is a matter of timing. If this goes into production this summer, through the fall, that would delay any potential Enterprise for about a year. I can see Bakula agreeing to it over the summer. But I doubt a season 5 done like this would be any good. It is a fan driven petition laying out how THEY think it will go, when it will be set and sure of what would be portrayed. Fact is the creators of this show would have very different ideas on all of that. The lack of ratings and fan support is what killed the show in the first place. The general public did not care for it and most fans at the time were extremely vocal of their criticisms. Either way, this is still a fantasy and nowhere near a done deal. CBS/Netflix do not seem to have actually responded at all so this is just another fan wish campaign for the time being.

Depending on how you define 'Alternate Timeline Etc...' (since you included the reboot which is an alternate timeline :) ) then Original Series kept a full crew during it's broadcast run. Next Generation lost Tasha Yar in Season 1 Episode 23 'Skin Of Evil, Deep Space Nine lost Jadzia Dax in Season Six Finale 'Tears Of The Prophets', Voyager lost Harry Kim in Season 2 Episode 21 "Deadlock'.
