Is there, here on the site, the soundtracks (with the orchestral scores) for the 11 movies? I've tried searching but I'm obviously not very talented at it. Thanks.

Hi Guys. I've done a CD Front and back cover for the first of the bootleg Next Gen soundtracks. If there is any interest I can do the other ones as a set. Let me know what you think and if you are interested in them. The thread for the albums is

Hmmmm, I see your point, but these were unreleased session recordings, soooooooo I think those are classed as Bootleg. Now to validate your point, the Oxford English Dictionary, finds the first use of the phrase in the Omaha Herald in 1889:
"There is as much whisky consumed in Iowa now as there was before..."for medical purposes only," and on the boot-leg plan."
A "bootleg" refers to the long leather boots worn by cowboys in the olden days of the wild wild west. These cowboys (the naughty fellows) used to put all kinds of illegal stuff into them, including things like moonshine, a knife or even a cheeky miniature gun to catch out people who think they were unarmed. So, in conclusion, Bootleg, Illegal, comes down to the same thing you old pirate you, or is that you old cowboy you. Wagon Train to the Stars AZSneed, Wagon Train to the Stars. ;)

How bout if you don't like a cover, don't download and make one yourself. For now, this has been the only attempt.
As for "bootleg", any unofficially released score fits under that umbrella, including your beloved complete scores and recording sessions. In my personal library, all such albums are laveled bootleg.

Nice cover! How about "UN-RELEASED recording session music"? "Pirate" and "Bootleg" just sound so criminal, and I would not consider anyone here to be a criminal, no matter what the MPAA has to say on the subject! As a matter of fact, since the studios spend nickels, (one time only) and rake in dollars all over the place, for all time to come, I think of that as being criminal!

You know, that's the part the pisses me off the most, be it music, films, et cetera. They tie up ownership of this stuff six ways from Sunday, don't (won't) release it for people to purchase, then when someone makes a copy available through unofficial channels they scream about lost revenues. What lost revenues? How can anyone claim "lost revenues" from a product that isn't available to purchase at any price?

Yes, I concur, completely! AND... I also think that it is criminal that the MPAA has all of the law enforcement officers in the nation (the world???) protecting their interests! Let me see, who do we know that had that sort of pull with the LEOs?? Oh, YEAH, Al Capone! :) It's just so corrupt that the movie industry throw out nickels to the artists, the actors, the composers and the writers, and take in MILLIONS on the first run, then, they "Sell" the DVDs to the public, but you don't "own" the DVD, you don't "own" the content! It's like paying on a house for a 30 year contract with the bank, but you don't "own" your house, because you still have to pay "property tax" every year to the feds! If that's not "tribute" to the system, I don't know what is! If you don't pay the tribute, they come out and take your house away. When you die, then there's another tax to pay, so your loved ones can hold onto the house, but sooner or later, the feds are going to get it back! The land is theirs! bottom line!
Same with the studios, they hold onto all entitled rights to their movie, and will not let it go, EVER! And we are paying taxes to pay the LEO's salary, so they can go out and arrest people who are the "pirates"!
Just sticks in my KRAW!!!

I agree. The music industry is worse than the movie industry in many ways. The bit about buying a house for 30 years was very much like what Don Henley (I think it was Henley) told Congress about the record industry. If you want to sign a deal with a record label you have to sign away all rights to the music you record to the label (unless you are already a monster artist like McCartney). So, right off, the'y've essentially stolen the music from the artist. Then they only pay you small royalty on each album sold. At least that sounds like something but it is really less than it sounds. Any cost associated with the recording, manufacture, distribution and promotion of the album or the artist -- or anything which can be labeled as such -- is charged against the artists royalties: All the studio time, the catering at the studio, release parties, awards (who do you think is paying for the gold record plaque you got? You are. We just buried it in the promotion costs), the executives family vacation to Tahiti (hey, he stopped at a record store and mentioned your album)...everything. Plus, there are the albums that don't get paid royalties: promotional albums to radio stations, to executives, et cetera, plus anything sold through a club counts as a promotional album that you don't get paid a royalty for (now you know why so many record labels -- and movie studios, for that matter -- have their clubs)...Then, after years of paying out for the costs of the "production" and "promotion" of the album comes the final insult which Henley described. That even if you get to the point where you've paid all the expenses (though the label will work hard to ensure that never happens -- on paper, at any rate) you still don't own your own music, tus the analogy Henley used about making payments to your mortgage company for 30 years only to be told they still own the house so kindly move out.
Essentially, a recording contract with a major label is indentured servitude. Without even the minuscule benefits of indentured servitude.

I hadn't even noticed that little "WT69" up there, that was GREAT!!! I was laughing my ass off. My wife, when I pointed that out to her, said, "But someone could think that "WT69" is the pirate that is producing the CD, and trying to sell them online". I told her that it doesn't matter because "WT69" really does not exsist, except online! :)
It was a nice tribute and I thank you, I am most honorably humbled, my friend! :)

It's my pleasure. It's you we need to thank for getting us the music in the first place. Also assure your wife that WT69 could mean anything, as your full online name was not used (as that is something I would never do without getting permission first). Yeah. Never been too good at that, plus my wife does not like star trek....well not just star trek, science fiction as a whole. She likes Star Wars, and she sort of likes Doctor Who (not as much since David Tennant left) mind you, she'd have a tough time in this house with my two boys and I, if she didn't like Dr Who LOL.
So this means I do not get to watch as much as I'd like.

Right, here is the covers for Relics. Since there were no track titles for this, and I can't watch the episode in such a way that would allow me to identify the tracks, I have left them blank. However, I have included the font I use on the back for anyone who wants to put in their own titles. The font I use is League Gothic. I had to recreate the image on the front as I could find no Hi-Res images from this episode, least ways not of the enterprise and the Borg cube. So if I've used the wrong season enterprise or something please forgive me (I will confess I would not know. I would be able to tell you if you used the wrong season TARDIS in an image, so I'm sure it would have changed in the seven year run).

As every marriage should be! your differently committed because you both except your responsibility for each other, but for your son's as well...which is more then I can say for a lot of other people in the world today. William (your William) not the William here (not confused at all :) ) is a proud name! 40 or 50 who cares!! my middle brother and his wife can not have children, so they adopted 4 kids (2 boys, 2 girls) and he is going to be 54 next month and his kids are 7,8,10 and 18! (they got the boys (Johnny & Kevin) when they were infants and the youngest girl Priscilla when she was 3 years old) more the merrier!! but he loves them dearly and he has diabetes, works at their local school, along with his wife, plays in a band (drummer) and they all drive him up the wall :) and he is still plugging away at life...but enjoys every minute of it. Hell I'm old (55) and I now have my own room for my things! and my boys still want to remake over my man cave, so they can take the excess for themselves! lol like they will not get it after I'm gone anyway!! You are of course right, and I love my boys to pieces. I'd love to do graphic design professionally, but I've left it a little late. If I were to go into the industry now they would either laugh at me or take me on as an apprentice/junior, and I could not take the paydrop as I have responsibilities. Plus I'm probably not good enough for todays market, or quick enough LOL.

I know you do! you can read it in your words :) I have a friend I have known for 38 years, he used to be a Deputy Sheriff (like me but in the county next to mine...confused yet?) anyway his youngest son works for the PD (Police Department in the city where I live, he is about the same age as my oldest son...(confused even more? hehehehe) and I did whats called "A Ride Along" (you ride with an officer for a shift-about 12 hours) man, let me tell you what a difference!!! compared to when I was on the force, they have to be Law Enforcement Officer, Medic, Priest, Social Worker, Marriage Counselor, and about 10 other things!!! I felt like a 97 thousand year old man! all we did was respond to a call (radio! thats all we had and a map) and if we had to bust a few heads, there was no reports to file, just call for an ambulance!! the inside of their patrol vehicle looks like the cockpit of the space shuttle!! I was so freak'n overwhelmed I did not know what to do!! they had all kinds of computerized devices with him, more damn beeps, boops and flashing lights, and a damn old fashioned radio on top of that! (well not old, but just a modern radio) GPS monitors their location, shows them the best and fastest route to drive to a call...no more paper reports to fill out, it's done on a tablet now!!!, push a button and it is sent to HQ electronically (I bet I used about 100 gallons of Whiteout by the time I retired) by the time I was done I thought I came from a old disco room :) so I know about feeling slow. I just thank God I'm retired!!! How they handle all that I will never know!! I feel your pain my friend!!

I worked in Steel Fabrication shops for almost 25 years, now retired since 2004. During those years the only real change, was on a piece of equipment had a computer on it, otherwise, it was the same as when I started in my first shop. I wished the industry had gotten modern. I started in the stone age, and ended in the late stone age. Yabba Dabba Do!

Yeah my brother was a welder when he was younger, and man somethings change and somethings don't!! plasma cutters, computerized welders, computerized cutters...but in the end the old way is still the best! my brother made a BBQ for me and my younger brother out of steel pipe (cut the pipe in half-must have been quarter inch steel-welded some hinges on the back side, four legs, two exhaust ports on top and little j-hooks to hang things on) I tell you that thing was big enough you could cook a whole side of beef in it! took 4 strong guys to move it, drop a 5 kiloton nuke on it and it would be the only thing standing for miles, clean it off and damned if it would not work like new....and glow a cherry red at night! made the best BBQ I have ever tasted and is still around after all these years of sitting in the sun and rain!! just get a couple of can's of black spray paint and it looks like new...my son's will be using it on their kids, and their kids after them. Older people are like fine wine...the older it gets the better it is!! [bangs on the door after being locked out by the cat] WILMA!

Another great CD label, thanks, Pearlcorderman! :)
I laugh everytime that I see the Jupiter 2, and remember one episode where Will Robinson had to go down to the "engine room", so he took the elevator down to the 2nd level, pushed a button to open a door, and then climbed down some ladder to the THIRD level, which was warehouse sized! HOLY raging Robinson robots! Even Doctor Smith didn't think up anything that LAME!!! Hehehehehe :)
The second level should have been just about 3/4 the size of the main level, just to allow 7 foot of ceiling space, as the sets showed. and the ship should have been much large in diameter, to allow space for all the extras, like the pod and the chariot. I really liked the size of the Jupiter in the movie, before it exploded and turned into the new Jupiter 2! It was the right size, even more so, than the old TV version. I recall that the full sized ship was really BIG (or I was really small) and I remember that it seemed larger than what you saw on TV! I wonder what ever happened to the full sized model.

I always wondered about that when I watched LiS as a boy on Sunday mornings. Scale always annoys me when its wrong. (says a Doctor Who fan who accepts transdimensional engineering with the TARDIS LOL), I always pick up on it, even in kids programmes that my children watched. "Hey that room is far to big to be in the Ninky Nonk" my other half tells me to stop being picky, and that's it's only a kids programme. Well forgive me, but just because they are kids does not mean we have to teach them that scale is irrelevant and a rooms are transdimensionaly engineered.

I was the same way as a kid too. When watching TMNT it annoyed me greatly whenever the animators botched the size of the Technodrome (the mobile fortress of the villains which is almost as tall as the Empire state building). In later seasons it began to feel as if the animators started to use toys as size reference! Sheesh.
And since this is a Star Trek thread... what's the deal with Deep space 9?! The saucer of USS Enterprise D ought to be bigger than it! Was it really hard to make its windows smaller and thus give it bigger appearance? And that last scene of the series when camera zooms out of the stations... the size of Kira and Jake at the window made DS9 look ridiculously small!

You must live in a rural area! the only ISP around here that still offers dial-up is AOHell(L) good luck!

My brother has AT&T DSL, and he ain't bragging! But it will beat my fastest download....5.5 kbps, I do get 50.6 kbps connection speed with my 56k modem. It beats what I had 6 yeas ago, 26.6 kbps connection speed!

CONFIRMED: J.J. Abrams to direct next ‘Star Wars’ for Disney
(Source: trekmovie.com)
Not that I care much... what I'm looking forward, anyway, is the re-surrection of trek on tv, after the third nu-trek installment, with new actors, producers and writers, who know their trek!

For Star Trek and Star Wars it's rather a real bad thing, but please follow me here for a minute a two: For Hollywood and storytelling this is rather a good thing overall. Because these are the signs of cultural stagnation. And JJA is part of that cultural stagnation, not the new wonderful new wave in creativity that is awaiting us. Like the times when Asimov was new, when Star Trek was new, when the Twilight Zone was new. And US Television already is ahead of the game. Rejuvenation-of-the-movie-industry-(and-we-are-not-talking-3D)-within-the-next-decade coming to a theatre near you soon.

I'm not sure about a rejuvenation coming, all I ever hear about is re-make...re-imagine...updated. I understand that they think an established property has an established audience, but think of all of the flops. Sure Star Trek, and Battlestar Galactica were hits, and most were not. The thinking is, save money on promotions and trying to generate interest in a new property, when old stuff has a fan base. 3D, never watched a movie with it since Shark boy and Lava Girl, and in failed for me.
I am glad for DVDs, the old stuff is so much better, like what I am watching now...the second season episodes of STAR TREK THE ORIGINAL SERIES! It don't get any better!

Does anybody have a hi res image of the bridge main display for NX-01 as much of the front wall as possible would be cool. I might want to use it in the Bootleg Enterprise CD covers. I'm in the brainstorming design stage at the moment and have done three designs that I am not happy with. I have looked everywhere, but can't find anything decent. Any help would be appreciated.

Bull's Eye!! you hit the nail right on the head my friend! to say someone can not come up with a real STORY! for Star Trek does not belong anywhere near a film studio! I would recommend they hug a nuclear reactor for an hour and call me in the morning (insert another evil laugh here)
You know I tried to point that out to my oldest son and all I got was "the new star trek is for a younger generation" What Horse Crap!! where the hell was the story? I have the damn movie (it spends more time on the shelf then in my DVD player) and it totally destroys Star Trek canon as we know it...but what do we expect from "NON Thinking humans" anymore! just look at Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, those movies made billions (and still are) because of a compelling STORY full of friendship, loyalty, honor, glory, adventure, love (for every living thing) and most of all "Freedom" call it corny or what ever else you want, but the greatest liberty we all have is Freedom! with out it we are all slaves to someone else...and I will NEVER be a slave to anyone on this planet! nor allow anyone else to be one! just because I am retired does not mean the oath I swore to is over.

The latest Star Trek film was just a way to make it possible to disregard anything that had happened in 6 complete TV-series and 10 films. It wasn't bad for an action film but... it sure wasn't Star Trek. The soul of Star Trek was lost and let's face it, there were more soul in any one of the old episodes. They just don't write them like that anymore. All ongoing TV-series seems to be made in the same mold.

It was worse than simply not being Star Trek. Total garbage - a bit like Star Wars 1-3 and what Star Wars Disney is going to be. How could Nimoy agree to be in it? Shocking. Why doesn't someone else write JJ Abrams out of history, and restore the correct Star Trek continuum?

Well, in this day of (C) rap music, and constant hand held cameras and "in your face" fight scenes, where you can't tell who is hitting whom, I guess that the mainstream of moviemaking has become something cheap and deposal-able, just like the movie business has been for the past 10-15 years. Now, I can't say that it hasn't ALWAYS been like that, there was a time when something (Like the original Godzilla) came along, and Hollywood jumped to cash in on the newness of this film, to the point of inserting refilmed footage to match up with already existing footage (as with Raymond Burr in Godzilla).
I miss the days when the PTB in the studios would reign in a producer or director that was doing something stupid, like a handheld camera cutting too close to the actors, or spinning around and around the actor, 5 or 6 times, which will make the audience throw up in the theatres! Now, the execs seem to only be interested in getting that next buck, no matter what, and if a "flash in the pan" director like J.J. or the two "B" boys from DS9 and Voyager comes along, they hand over the whole studio to these kids, without any reason at all!

The only reason I bought it was because of my son! other then that I would not own it. I won't be seeing it either, unless my son wants me to go! (like any other loving father, I have a soft spot for my son's) but I just refuse to give JJ any complements on what he did to Star Trek or for Star Trek.
I like you, liked the Lost In Space movie too, and have it on DVD...granted it was different then the show, but it did keep to the original TV series characters and some of the plot. Personally I wish they would do another movie! I'm with you brother..."DON"T MESS WITH TREK" <---would make a good bumper sticker :)
I bleed Red,White & Blue! it was the way I was raised! I grew up listening to my uncle's story's when they served in the Marine Corps during WWII, my father and other uncle's served in the Navy, Army and Marine Corps during the Korean War and my older cousins served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War (three joined the Marines and only two came back, one is MIA/KIA) that's where I got my love for History and just dove into just about any thing to do with the subject...Military, Political, Ancient (Generals, Emperors, Kings and President's) I have a running contest between my models and my books to see which one is going to over take the other :) Anyway, naturally I feel in love with American History (good and bad) the Founding Fathers, the Constitution and joined Law Enforcement (we used to have "To Protect And To Serve" on the side of our coursers! not any more) and no matter what call I responded to every person deserves to be treated equally under the Law, unless your a real S*IT BAG and have no respect life! then your behind belongs to my 1911A1 (old ironsides) until we were forced to go to 9mm (piece of crap..the first versions, the barrels cracked after 50 rounds where put through it) now they are back to S&W 40mm...but I digress, I know several people from the former (my be a different name today but the management is still the same) Russia and other old Warsaw Pack country's and the story's they told would make your hair stand on end! it just confirmed my belief that all of mankind should be free and there is no other country in the world today that I would live in! then the good old USA! yes we have our problems, but at lest we can fix them! and we are FREE to talk about whatever we want to and don't have to worry about being arrested for voicing our opinions on our leaders...they work for us, not the other way around.
I got a little carried away....back to our regularly scheduled program!

Never a truer word spoken. Britains past is a little checkered. We had our Empire, and although some good was done, some very bad things were done as well. However I believe we have "Come Good". I am proud to be British in this modern age, and happy that we and America still have our strong ties (despite the Boston tea party, all that lovely tea in the sea LOL ;) )

I really want my children to grow up in a world of peace, with no irrational hate because of people colour, gender or religion. Hmmm, didn't some one write about a future like that back in the mid 60's. Anyway I'd best get off my soap box now.

That's another thing! It looks like the camera men are drunk or have the withdrawal shakes. Hold the damned thing steady or use a tripod ffs. And the editing looks like it has been done by guys on speed or something. The cuts are so small it's unbelievable, and this seems to be prevalent in films of late. It appears to be a mechanism to compensate for the lack of 'content' in the film.

Content? What are you, some sorta smart ass? We can't clutter up our movie with content. If we do that, the next thing you know people will be asking for intelligent content, then a story, then an intelligent story, and then who knows what else. We're making a movie here -- mindless entertainment -- not trying to communicate with the audience. Geez. Grow up, buddy....

Your opinion please Guys and Gals. Am I on the right track here. First cover I've been reasonably happy with for the Enterprise stuff. Let me know what you think before I spend another 10 hours fiddling with it.
I know bits need to be centralised, re-jigged slightly and better cut out. Everything has had to be completely made from scratch so that the quality will hold up. I'll give it until tomorrow 20:00hrs GMT so I can see every bodies comments.
Thanking you in advance for your input

I would say that the Enterprise screen layout is a bit much to have on the front cover, perhaps keep the upper part and do "fade-ins" to episode scenes at the bottom...

Just shoot me!
William
Those where the days! and the studio's could reign in an actor as well...long gone and never to return. If an actor or actress started acting up on the set or at home...that was the end of their career. Unfortunately you are correct!!...the next buck. As long as the mindless masses keep dropping money into their movies they will keep putting out crap! thank God for DVD and VHS!! I can watch real actor's act in films with a story.

I like the top part of the cover, but not to keen on the image of with the NX-O1 in it as she does look a tad lost
I do like the image Amanda posted but that would have to change season, especially season 1 & 4 as Archer & Tpol had chad changed in appearance
Maybe an action shot from the epsiode would work, but whatever you come up with, I think i'm going to be pretty pleased

It's strange but i am not aware of any merchandising that was done based on Star Trek 2009, i mean merchandising as big as the initial Star Wars had. Actually i haven't seen this kinda stuff in either franchise in a looooooong while. Am i right? Or has the internet turned me into a bad consumer? I don't have a TV, i watch only what i choose, the magazines i read are on my kindle, the music i listen to, i store on my hard drive. The only things i really go out shopping for are food, furniture, hygiene, health and perhaps the occasional mag that comes with a movie DVD for cheap. All other things i simply get online and it almost never happens to me that i wanna buy something i didn't go looking for in the first place. When i do, when i stumbled upon something i didn't know about and wanna have it's rather exciting because it's the exception. I think my computer has turned me into a real bad consumer, lol.
To me Star Trek II is the best example that pop culture can be mindful, deep and a fucking rollercoaster or simply nail biting movie experience at the same time :)

There was but not on the level of Star Wars or previous Trek incarnations. I'm not sure where you live but here in the US there are a chain of stores called Hastings. They sell books/music/movies primarily but the also sell a large portion of fanboy/girl collectibles. I remember seeing just recently a handful of Star Trek 2009 merch so I would guess there was even a bit more when the movie was in theaters.

Hey pearl. Just a thought. The Next Gen stuff looks good with the colorful LCars graphics. With Enterprise, there is far less color. It is all brushed steel etc. Blue and white lights, blue uniforms, with very small color accents, the three colors red, blue and cold. Actually, Pearlcorderman, I really like your Enterprise cover! The only thing that I don't like is the picture in the middle of the two ships, but that's the only thing. I think that, like the LCARS for the next gen covers, having all the displays as you have, makes it look new and original, very nice (Hey, I grabbed it for my CD, hehehehehe:)) I really don't like that all my Enterprise bootleg CDs all have the same cover, with different text, just the crew standing there with the name of the episode, etc. VERY boring.
I also like some of the covers as Amanda has them, but not really the TOS one, for some reason, it looks kind of "wonky", can't really put my finger on it.

Addendum re. Enterprise pics:
Those pics with Archer, T'Pol and the other guy - are they real? They're holding a Sony camcorder with a fat NP-FM70 battery, a crappy tv remote and an old phone with its retro little aerial. And if they are real, are they for real?

The publicity shots ARE real. They have several. I have many more GOOD references for the NX-01 build. I completely ignored the series when it was on, but I am now watching it via Netflix, and am enjoying it more than any other Trek except DS9. No, not to point fingers, or insults, but as a fan base our cries about the song, the eyebrows, the going against canon. Some may feel justified or just as happy with it gone. But i would have loved to see a full 7 seasons. and since it was cancelled, we have had NO NEW TREK SERIES ON TV. For what, 8 years? And when they did give us a new Trek it was a "reimagined" Trek. It gave them an excuse to say FUCK YOU to loyal fans of canon, and supply a "logical" excuse for doing so at the same time. NOW, there IS no canon, and they can do whatever the bloody hell they want. I am also an old trek fan, and I love the ENTERPRISE theme song. I didn't really like the idea of any ST theme not being composed by Jerry Goldsmith, since he had died before that was on the air, I think, so it started to grow on me, week after week, watching the show. I really hated the first season, like next gen and DS9 and Voyager, but just like the rest, it grew on me as well, and now I love them all, even the last movie. When STNG came out in 87, I was thrilled, because it was about a new crew, but on the Enterprise. OK, these covers are losing me the will to live, this is my 9th version of the cover. Trying to take comments into account, and making the front less busy, but making each cover potentially different with different images for each cover (If I can find high enough quality images for each episode) as I 100% agree with William that each cover should be sufficiently different other than the title and possibly the colour of the background. Therefore, taking this all into account I hope this design is more what people want.

There is only one Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu and Chekov, let them stay in history, let a new crew to go boldly where no one has gone before, not time travel, alternative universe crap!
Oh thank God!! I could never image a Ford Class Super-Carrier being named "Obama or Clinton" (put their name's on garage scow's)
That might work with a whole new crew, sometime in the late 24th Century! The Human Adventure Continues! :)
The sad fact is Paramount would not do it again, they make a lot more money off of a movie then a TV show, in the short run. TV shows take several years before they start to turn a profit and Sci-Fi shows are inherently costly to produce. Most major studios today will not do anymore Sci-Fi shows! one of the reasons why the Sci-Fi channel has no Sci-Fi shows on the air, what we are going to see from now on is Sci-Fi stuck on the ground, nothing taking place out in space! it's far cheaper. Personally Paramount no longer has the vision anymore, all the ones that brought us the Star Trek shows are now gone! retired, put out off the lot and a new younger generation has taken over and all they want is the fast buck! that my friend is the times in which we live...unfortunately!!

OR
Very similar, just a slight tweak to the rear (ooh err Mrs, sorry, English Carry On humor)

1) Technical point. If you're compiling an old-fashioned audio CD, the "Compact Disc Digital Data" logo is inappropriate. This would be fine for mp3s. Otherwise you may want to look around for a CD-Audio logo.
2) The grey steel effect looks drab. It reminds me (of the series actually - only joking) of re-issues of previously released material - a bit like the Playstation Platinum range - personally I hate those covers. It's far too production-line-ish. The other thing about the design is that it looks like a couple of steel buckets. Sorry.
3) Captured pictures from the show. Tricky this one. You might try processing them into a cartoon-esque style with some Adobe plugin or what-not. But it may look worse. But trial and error is the way to go.

You are suffering (or rather are enjoying) "Riker Syndrome". It was first established in the episode "Up The Long Ladder" and just now i realize this wasn't meant synonymously for evolution! The dialogue between him and the woman is about Riker having to work himself upward her body, from toe to head. "Up the Long Ladder", yeah, sure, you can't fool me Star Trek! Hm, makes you think. What other conotations were hidden in TNG episode titles?

I suggested the steel look. It is appropriate to the show as it is part of it's signature look. Anything else would not fit right. Thuogh for the pics,I almost might suggest just pics of the ship itself. Not sure.

Good technical point, I thought I'd used to correct one. On the font I use one is accessed by using the "K" key the other by using the "L".
The steel finish was suggested by Amanda and has also been the most popular design, and . Therefore, thank you for your input (as I appreciate all comments, good or bad), however, the series will probably stay looking like this. Enterprise is very much utility looking, so I believe this quite suits it.
Cover image is tricky. I tried to recreate a scene using the NX-01 and the prison vessel, but it was universally hated. I want to do something that is unique to each episode, as I am not keen on the generic picture on the front. I have often used the artistic effects in Photoshop for certain covers, but I don't think it will quite work on these covers (however I have used them on other CD covers I've done).
Once again, thank you for your comments :)

I'm not sure I know what's happened here. I for one have been very grateful for your input on my Enterprise CD cover design (as you can see with the brushed aluminium effect) and the photo's you have supplied. I'm not sure what exactly the reason was for Amanda's reaction (it may or may not have to do with my remark about her Star Trek: Enterprise question in the Star Trek TOS music thread, where I suggested to put all trek questions other than TOS trek into the "Official Star Trek" thread here), but I can assure you, it wasn't you!

I believe that they were, for the most part. I have no idea where I get stuff, but I'm just happy to share it with all you good people here. If someone says that I ripped off a score from him, then you can safely say that's a bunch of crap, since I get most of my stuff from inside the studio system, except for some of the "extended" stuff that I got here, like all of Tach's James Bond scores, which are compiled from a number of sources, but Tach did a fantastic job on them, and I would say to anyone that they should go to his thread and check them out, they are VERY rare. One studio friend came over to my house and was poking around in my CD collection, when he saw the BOND stuff, not only the CDs, mostly 2 CD per movie, but new custom artwork and the like, and he blew a dithium chip in his brain, he couldn't believe that I had all this "rare" stuff, and wanted me to make copies of the whole thing! I just grabbed all the CDs off of the shelves, and shoved them into his hands and told him to take them home and copy them for himself, since I still had all the original files stored on my backup drive, with all the artwork and everything. This guy then turned around and gave me a TON of great stuff, some of which I have shared here, hehehehehehe :)

Indeed you do need to keep them sweet. I have been listening to the Enterprise music and it is really good (quality of sound as well). It has made me want to watch the series. Music does that for me, sometimes I have realised that the music far outstrips the programme, but mostly I have found that they go well together.
I shall keep the WT69 logo on the side so it will match the TNG covers if they were supplied by your good self.

Just a FYI on CD self stick labels. I read that the labels over time will bleed through and mess up the dyes that the music is recorded on. I didn't believe it until I checked out the CD of the radio series Alien Worlds I bought about 10 years ago. They stuck printed labels on burned CDs, and EVERY one of them are now unreadable! Now I just use a felt tipped marker on an area of the disc, usually the center, to mark what it is. Sure it looks nice, and you can reburn another copy, but, if you get a CD that is rare Back it up fast....just saying, I know y'all do backups.

I really LOVE that disc label! Really great. I have a lightscribe in my laptop, but I have never used it. What I have seen I was not impressed with, but don't know if what I saw was actually a lightscribe disc. Does lightscribe print in color? What I saw looked like light silver printed on the disc, but just mono colored two level printing. A friend told me about "dye sub" printing, and said that it prints directly on the disc, and looks like silk screen printing, which would look like a store bought CD. But I understand that Dyesub printing is also fairly costly. I was going to buy a printer like that, but it costs about $100,000.00, and the ink or whatever they use, is really pricey also, so..... :)

You are very welcome Pearl! I am pretty picky about my music files (the right covers, tracks in the right order, composer, conductor, artist, date) so I can hazard a guess what you went through!
Yeah, sounds like me when it comes to Networking and building computers (all that was offered in collage in my time was computer science..aka Programing! not my cup of tea) so I went another way and only later did I go back to school and was the first Law Enforcement officer (in my county anyway) to get certified for CNE! which did not do my career any good, until computers came into everyday use and the Internet was offered to the general public, but by then there was a whole new generation into them and once again I was out of date...a Captain Dunsel if you like. Now I try and keep up with the newest technology's, and I'm consistently being reminded how old and out of date I am again! oh well, kids do do that to us lol but I can build my own computer (which I'm in the middle of doing now) and my son's can't :p Still you have created a work of art! and should be very proud of what you have done...."Three Cheers for Pearl" "Hip Hip Hooray....Hip Hip Hooray...Hip Hip Hooray" so say we all!

No lightscribe only prints in B/W at lest for now! I do know that they are working on a way to do color, but no luck yet...and you have to use lightscribe disc's only to print on. There are a few printers that do a good job of printing CD art but nothing like a manufactured one and way out of a normal persons financial price. :(

Yes, light scribe is only mono. but you can get different colour discs, and I always adapt the images to look the best in a mono finish (You have to do this or they look rubbish). There are 3 print settings, and you have to have it on best. It takes about 15 minutes to print, but does look much darker.
When I used to work for Olympus, we made a paper dye sub printer and they used a plastic ribbon cartridge for printing. The pictures were fantastic, and I can imagine if you could do that on a CD, it would be perfect, however, if that is the cost of one......well it would be beyond my reach.

Yeah, at least we can do it for ourselves and our friends on an amateur level. I did get one paid job. CD should be out this year sometime. Will be nice to have one retail cover in my life, however it has taken over a year and a half so far and the disc still hasn't been released. But at least I was paid LOL.

Oh POO!!!! I didn't look at the episode guide before I started these. These soundtracks are now going to be out of order. Canamar should have been volume 2. Arghhhhhhhhhh, now my OCD is working overtime. Going to have to make an alteration to the front cover to make it volume 2. Sorry Guys. :(

OK Really sorry guys. This had the wrong volume number on the front, How do the kids say it these days....My Bad (never understood that, terrible grammar. However, I blame it on the mobile phone and "TEXT SPEAK", but I digress) So here are the covers again, but correct. Once again I apologise to anyone who has downloaded these files and has to do so again.

I haven't heard of any problems.
As for CD case covers a DVD wraps, I always do them for all my disc, whether burned or used disc only that I buy without covers.
My Brother don't understand the fuss over covers, but he ain't into music like I am.
Just a history note about me, my first soundtrack
was an LP of 2001:A Space Odyssey I got in 1975, and I have never stopped buying/downloading them.

My FIRST soundtrack was actually "Mission: Impossible" back in 1966! Then I got the horrible "Man from UNCLE" version that was put out! My third was "Our man Flint", which I still own today (all three!) :)
I heard about the CD labels doing that about 10-12 years ago, and I stopped putting them on my CDs, but some of my older CDs are still okay, after nearly 15 years with the label on them, and those old labels were really horrible, with massive sticky on them, not like the ones they have today, which is almost like a 3M sticky type of glue, not so harsh! I still think this "Dyesub" process might be the ticket! :)

On a Star Trek music not, am I the only one that dislikes that on the CDs, that the Main Title comes BEFORE the Teaser? When I copy the CDs to my PC, I change the track numbers to reflect the correct order. It is better than reediting the DVDs.

On the official cd's or boots? On most boots, the main title or end title are not usually even there. Plus, tack order is all wrong on most of them. This was actually the subject of my post that was deemed not appropriate, yet here we are, with someone else talking about it no problem.

On a different note for advice: The mention of lightscribe for dvd/cd creation was mentioned. Do those of you who use this process have an external unit for this or have you had an internal drive mounted? Also, does it actually scribe the color or just a basic two-tone? Any information, direction, or even alternative process info would be gratefully appreciated.

It is just grayscale. However they now produce lightscribe disks in different colours. The actual printing is still grayscale though. I find that if you produce your label with a higher contrast ratio than you would normally use you can get good results. Always create the images in black and white.
My lightscribe is an internal drive, however Liteon produce external drives with the lightscribe built in.

If you look at a burned disc which hasn't been used up fully, you'll see where the data stops short. With scribing technology you basically make a picture using 1s and 0s. To create the illusion of mid-tones the software dithers 1s and 0s depending on the picture (and depending on the software used). The thing to note is to source CDs which will create a good contrast between written and non-written areas on the disc. A light coloured disc is usually poor. A dark blue is usually the best.
Regarding fading. No chance. The laser goes through the plastic layer and on to the metal underneath. When you handle a disc, the side with the label is actually where the data is kept - on a thin metal layer. That's why it's not advisable to write on discs with a ball-point pen.

The first soundtrack I heard was Star Wars in the theater at the first time. The first score album I heard was the Trek the Motion Picture lp, which I had perpetually checked out of the library. The first albums I owned were the double lp's for Star Wars and Empire Strikes back as X-Mas gifts, and the first album bought with my own money was Star Trek II's lp, followed by the Battle Beyond the Stars lp.

"Hawaii Five-O" soundtrack 1969 was my first one! and still have the album :) man that was a long time ago! but it still sounds great after all these years. Our country library decided to retire all there LP's from use (they switched to CD's) and just sold them off to whoever wanted them for like .25 cents each! so I bought all I could, some where bad (well used) and some had never been played at all, but I did find some great ones!

Cool! I got a ton of mine through my older cousins (their in there 60's now) after they left home, all the Beatles albums, beach boys, jan & dean (LP's & 45's), classical, easy listening! thats what I been doing the last few years is copying them to my PC, putting them back into their jackets and storing them...one of the reasons I have had to get bigger HD's and a newer computer. Silent Running! wow!! what a great movie and soundtrack, thats one of the LP's I could never find!! you lucky dog :)
