I totally agree Scott. Not a crime and perhaps a bit of an overreaction, but a real letdown and reality check on a real human being, who has decided to make a living this way (his choice to sign for cash and be around people- he could just do commercials and tv and stay away from folks, but he does it for the money it seems- and the ego stroking I'm sure) and at times at least he has disappointed some fans it seems to say the least. I thought the real interesting part was the other gossipy stories on the guest page, which is quite long (start at the bottom and read up). Lots of stories with colorful detail. One of those things that no matter how wrong it feels, once you start reading it is hard to stop. : )

I just heard that Neal Armstrong has died today at 82 :( a great man with balls of steel! I will always remember watching him climb down the ladder of the lunar lander and said "that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.'' and jump onto the surface of the moon. What a sad day for the world...we have truly lost a Hero and Great Man.

"I am, and ever will be, a white socks, pocket protector, nerdy engineer," he said in February 2000 in one of his rare public appearances. "And I take a substantial amount of pride in the accomplishments of my profession." - Neal Armstrong

Got to love a man that says that!!

Here's something interesting that I just came across:

PHXCC AUDIO: Sherry Jackson On Being Android (& Shatner’s Toupee) + Morgan Gendel on Inner Light (& Sequel) | TrekMovie.com (http://trekmovie.com/2011/05/31/phxcc-audio-sherry-jackson-on-being-android-shatners-toupee-morgan-gendel-on-inner-light-sequel/)

As to the whole Shatner thing, when you become a public figure, you have certain obligations to the public, and that means being civil, and being a normal, down to Earth person, with respect for those that respect you. He was supposed to be at the book signing for two hours. If the signing part was completed in 45 minutes, he was OBLIGATED to remain until 9:00 and he could have, SHOULD have visited with the crowd of people who came whatever the distance to see him. Shatner and Nimoy were the first two stars that had refused to sign autographs, back in the early TREK conventions, because of the time constraint to do so. Then, Creation conventions came along, and started charging for each autograph, which spread to ALL actors! The whole thing always revolves around MONEY. When you become an actor, you sell yourself. You become in essence a prostitute, selling your body, your face, even your voice for money. What else would it be? In many languages, the same word for "actor" is also used for "prostitute"!

Being nasty and rude to underlings is just not acceptable. The ONLY person who acted like a diva, whenever I was on the STTNG stages (other than Majel, I should say) was Gates McFadden! Everyone else, and I do mean everyone, was as nice as they could be to any visitor to the sets! As a matter of fact, Wil Wheaton, when he found out what I did, he followed me around the stages, asking all sorts of questions, wanted me to get him on the sets of "BTTF 2 & 3" (which I did) and just wanted to know everything about everything. But he was a great kid, and I didn't mind talking with him. I really had a great bond with Levar Burton, who was very spiritual, and he and I had some great discussions. The fact is, these people knew which side of the toast the butter was on, and treated the fans with respect, something that Shatner/Nimoy could aspire to!

Is it just me? we don't (at lest I haven't) heard such disparaging words about any of the other actors/actress from Star Trek behaving the same way Shattner does! I don't know about the rest of you but the rest seem to stay off the hit lists of obnoxious actors...James Doohan is very much beloved by millions along with Deforest Kelley, Leonard Nimoy and the rest...sure shows who believes their just human beings, like the rest of us. Guess that is way I have always loved Scotty so much!! just a plan down to earth person....that's my two cents worth...

WOW!! I did not know that Nimoy was the same way!! damn that just busted my bubble :( and I agree with you 100 percent William Love of Money will bring down any person, sooner than later. Wil Wheaton (Richard William "Wil" Wheaton III) appears to be a real human being, I do love his appearances on "The Big Bang Theory"! he is a great antagonist to Sheldon Cooper "Wheeeaton" just kills me..... LOL Actor and Prostitute seems about right! I watched an interview with Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis on youtub, what a friendship those two have, you could really see the love and respect they have for each other and their both married and their spouses are friends as well...William you really have a great job when you can sit and talk with those real people and just be a normal human being, instead of talking to some jack ass who thinks his or her crap don't stink because their an "Actor" bow down and worship me...what BS!!

Hey William,

After trudging around the net this morning, I found that old site! One man's crusade to out the true nature of the man -

A Steaming Load of Shatner (http://www.bigwaste.com/shatner/index.shtml)

Others add their stories on the guestbook at the bottom of the page, located here....

A Steaming Load of Shatner: Guest Book (http://www.bigwaste.com/shatner/guestbook.shtml)

Now I think we have both Shatner's No. 1 and No. 2 covered, so to speak....

Well, Mr. Scott's got a point! Since you don't know my real full name, you cannot know just what I have, or have not been credited for. I have a VERY full page on IMDB.com! That's a FACT!

Scotty, I always found Jimmy to be a very easy person to like, I just didn't like him drinking so much, however, he did say that he had a horrible time getting in front of people sober, even when there were only 10-12 people on a sound stage! His bio always made me smile, what he did during the war. For those of you who don't know, James Dohan was a flyer, and would fly between the telephone/telegraph poles of the German army, and cut the wires with the prop of his plane! For those of you who don't fly, this was a VERY dangerous thing to do, any of those wires could have easily gotten tangled in the prop, which would cause you to crash. But Jimmy didn't escape the war without injury, one crash he suffered internal injuries, and lost the two middle fingers on his left hand, which they had replaced with rubber replacements during the filming of TOS. If you look at some scenes, you will see his index and small fingers bent, but the two middle ones straight! When I first met Jimmy, I took great care not to stare at his hand, but I waited until he had turned away from me. The fingers looked totally normal at that time, (early 80's) so I figured that he had gotten some professional appliances made for him. But during this meet, I could smell the booze on his breath whenever he leaned in close to me.
The only thing that I didn't like, was when Jimmy got up at one of the conventions that I attended, and said that he had actually helped Gene Roddenberry with the design of the Enterprise! Anyone who knows TREK at all, knows that the first designs actually came from "Matt" Jefferies, and the Gene had done some suggestions to Matt's original designs, which Matt then completed. Jimmy wasn't involved with the first pilot at all, which was filmed 1 3/4 years before the 2nd pilot, which Jimmy was involved!
I just chalk Jimmy's claim of assistance to Gene Roddenberry on his drinking, very much like Majel's claim to have been the opera singer in the main theme! :)
Such is life!

Oh, BTW, here is a reup of the STTMP sound effects, by request:

I know Jimmy Dohan drank but not that much! it's sad to see someone that was such a good person drink him or her self into an oblivion...we are all human and not perfect, I can't even imagine the stress that movie people (actors, production ect.) must be under but I do know that every thing in life is a choice and our decisions effect others, some we may not even know until years later...I just love Scotty's ability to cut through the crap and fix whatever needed to be fixed and his can do attitude. I had read and seen his interviews he did over the years, but I had no idea he took out phone wires with his airplane! holly crap!! dangerous is not the word!! that man had some real brass "cojones" to do that...my hat is off to him. I know that Gene Roddenberry and Jimmy where real close and I can understand why, they both were pilots during WW II. The loss of Jimmy fingers did not slow him down and I did not find out about it until several years ago!! goes to show you how good Star Trek was in its time. I had a friend/partner I worked with and his way of dealing with the stress was to drink excessively but he could drive like he was sober as a nun...I had to end our friendship because I could not have him around my family and he refused to see what he was doing to himself, and the reactions on my kids faces when he was drunk...I have had a few to many when I was younger (I think everyone has done that once or twice) but I just could not see the fun in getting fall down stupid drunk! what ever your problems are! drinking does not take them away...in the morning your problems are still there! and believe me I have seen the effects of drinking and driving and it's not pretty. The design of the Enterprise went through several designs changes before Roddenberry gave the okay, and everyone has seen the early drawings of Jefferies! (if not they should see them) which are brilliant..as far as I am concerned Jefferies was a Genius!! and a real Artiest, he made something that has endured for over 40 years and is still going!

Majel an opera singer!!! what a crock... Loulie Jean Norman sang the opening to Star Trek, at lest the first season after that they remixed Courage's theme (with out him knowing about it...something like 27 years later he was told) Money once again!! I do love hearing your story's William, they never get old and differently need to be told! (do I smell a book maybe?? hint, hint!!) would be a great read thats for sure :) Take care and have a good weekend...

Thanks for the re-up William :)

One thing though - he didn't loose his finger in a crash but during invasion on Normandy. Someone shot his hand.

Well, there is ONE thing that Jimmy did that no other male actor can lay claim to:

James Doohan had a baby with his last wife, at 80 years of age, much older than Tony Randall, who got his picture on the front page of nearly every paper in the nation, because he was 78 and had a kid! Jimmy beat that!

I came across a DVD containing 2gb of Star Trek: Original series soundtracks, 33 episodes in total, there was also a pdf file outlining the contents Which states i burned the DVD in 2007.

Can anyone shed some light on what i have? Has it been posted before?

Star Trek Music.rar (http://www.mediafire.com/?vgojjwwyyt3d9df)

The project was called: “Star Trek: the Complete Scores Project”. It was completed by Verisimilitude, and he acquired the music by recording the front-left and front-right DVD sound, which primarly had music, with some sound effects and, sometimes, even dialogue bleeding in - for instance, the voice of Sargon or Apollo, because they had that "echo" effect and therefore, basically, were SFX. He created a booklet describing his method and his attempt to contain only original music with no duplication, that way collecting cues adding up to roughly 15 hours! There have been two updates of the collection, the latest being 3.0. Yours may very well be the first or second edition. It was a huge effort by Verisimilitude, he must have devoted literally hundreds of hours completing the project! While it's not perfect (aside from the fact that it was impossible to get all the cues free of SFX and dialogue, because the DVD's had no separate music tracks, he sometimes wasn't able to credit all the cues to the right composer - oftentimes, even if there was a new composer creating a new score, sometimes that score was also tracked with cues from other episodes, from other composers! But all in all, he was pretty accurate!), it's the best bootleg someone could wish for, and it made it apparent how much music there was left to be released, and how good that music was, all in all! And, finally, it made you all the more wish for an official release of more of the scores, which, by now, has become fact!

Well, there is ALOT of stuff not listed on IMDB.com. Nothing that I had done on STTNG or any later TREK movies is listed. IMDB insisted that only execs from the studios, producers, directors and the like could verify any credits that were NOT on the end titles of a movie or TV show. At first, it HAD to be on the credits to appear on IMBD, but that was lightened up. I have friends that have done MAJOR stuff on films, that IMDB refused to list, as it could not be verified. Come to find out that ANYONE could call in, and act like they were Spielberg, and IMDB would believe them!!!! Some very bad people were getting credit for works on films that other people had actually done, and were never given credit for! :(

Many people have taken credit for things that I have done, and this is well known in the biz, seems to happen all over the place. Can't fight the whole freaking world, it seems!

I was wondering if anyone had knowledge of working links for the Complete Scores Projects for the series other than the original series. All the links I have been able to find elsewhere are all non-functional.

Same. Everywhere I check the links are dead (Jim...).

Not on any official release, no. And I have never come across any bootleg FX free promos for DS9. There were rips of the dvd's done by a member here, but i have never grabbed them, so could not tell you if it was on them. There is precious little for DS(. Just the pilot-Emissary, and some Tracks on the Best of Trek albums. But, Word has it a 4 cd DS9 box set will be on the release schedule this year...

.wv can be converted to .WAV (the more compatible one) through GoldWave, and once you've done that, you can use dBPowerAmp for a conversion into many formats.

All you have to do is just RENAME the file, from .WV to .WAV! I don't know why this was done this way, in the old days, but I found out this easy solution thru trial and error! :)

Ken Marshall (DS9's Michael Eddington)

stars in this, well, at least he is credited third among the actors. He dates lead actress Rebecca De Mornay in this, so his role is not that minor. As you can see Marshall in hardly anything else and i find him a rather good actor i thought i post this. (Does anyone know about him past 2003, on imdb there aren't any credits?)

Got my TMP today. Slowwwww shipping La-La Land, cmon! At least give people an incentive to buy rather than pirate, in the form of getting to listen to the music first.

For some reason I got the shrinkwrapped jewel case, along with another printout of the front cover. Was there a printing error? Or did they give us 2 covers just for fun?

Anyone remember the post where some guy got some really good HQ source for "Captain's Log / Warp Drive" and "System Inoperative / Hidden Information"?
I compared those versions against the ones on the LLL album, and the LLL ones seemed inferior with far more hiss. Thoughts anyone?

Edit: found it:

Apologies if I missed it but with megaupload gone has anybody uploaded this on some other file hoster? Just curious. :)

Hi. I just got my copy this morning. LaLaLand has done a great job in remastering this beautiful. All the blaster effects have a powerful feel to them compared to all the other ST TMP soundtracks that I heard.

Here are some links to the Flac copy of the soundtrack. I have no plans to re-upload the files in the event that they are pulled, so grab them while you can.

Conceder this an incentive to buy the soundtrack if you enjoy it.

The password is “rectorium”.

Now I really need to get some rest.

Disc 1 (peejeshare) (http://www.peejeshare.com/files/362150021/Columbus1.rar.html)
Disc 2 (peejeshare) (http://www.peejeshare.com/files/362150113/Columbus2.rar.html)
Disc 3 (peejeshare) (http://www.peejeshare.com/files/362150184/Columbus3.rar.html)

Disc 1 (rapidgator) (http://rapidgator.net/file/18295184/Columbus1.rar.html)
Disc 2 (rapidgator) (http://rapidgator.net/file/18297641/Columbus2.rar.html)
Disc 3 (rapidgator) (http://rapidgator.net/file/18297947/Columbus3.rar.html)

Neither works for me. Rapaidgator keeps breaking my download every 20 minutes or so, and then tells me my daily download limit has reached (I cannot even download a file after 15 minutes' wait). While with peeje, I have been trying for 3 days but their download slots seem to be always full. :(

Anyone else had any luck? I would appreciate if someone could upload these to rapidshare/mediafire. Thanks in advance. :)

Oh, the "readalongs"... the "Book & Record" releases, yes! I'm looking into my archives and see what I got, but don't know if those you're looking for are among them...

EDIT: I found them! There's even one for "Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home", so I will upload all four of them. They contain a separate mp3 file and a "Macromedia Flash Player 8" exe file, so you can just play the sound without the book, or you can read-along the book and turn the pages on your computer. The "Voyage Home" player, however, is a "Macromedia Flash Player 7" exe, and I was not able to turn the pages with this one. Maybe someone out there can enlighten me as to what I'm doing wrong with it.

I will upload the files shortly...

You're welcome, William.

Speaking of read-along story books: Any interest in the Peter Pan records? There were a few stories with the classic crew (series era, not movie era!), some with "read-along" comics, some without... some on LP's, and some on single. I have to look for them, have them all somewhere (both digital and analog!). So, if someone wants them (William, you want them, I know! ;) ), give me a note!

Hey, that's great! I also only had the inferior youtube version before (which, btw, was missing the end credits), and didn't know this excellent version was available! It is, however, starting to get out of synch after about 20 minutes, so I will also keep my older version!

I saw this movie back in the 80ies in Germany, and liked the concept quite a lot. And, as a trek fan since 1972, I was smiling when I saw the credits: Gene (Roddenberry) AND Gene (L. Coon)!

Years later, I stumbled over the German issue of the novelization of this movie. Guess who wrote it? No? Well, it was written by no other than D.C. Fontana, the great old lady from Star Trek, who was influential in creating much of the basic "canon" in trek! The novelization of "Questor" was based on the original Teleplay by Gene Roddenberry and Gene L. Coon (story by Gene Roddenberry).

I have also the English version of the novelization (pdf), if anybody is interested:

As promised, here are the Star Trek Records from Power Records/Peter Pan Records, which were released between 1975 and 1979, in various editions. You can read all about the history of the records on the excellent site from Curt Danhauser:

Guide to the STAR TREK Story Records (http://www.danhausertrek.com/Records/Main.html)

There have been released 23 different records, some 12 inch 33-1/3 RPM, some 7 inch 45 RPM; they included 11 different stories, which were re-released several times in various combinations. You will find all 11 stories in mp3 format (128 kbps); 6 of the stories had a read-along comic, which are also included in my upload. Finally, I have added small scans of all the covers of the 23 records.

Part 1 (1975 releases, 7 stories, 4 of them including comics):

A theme in Questor was later used for his main theme for Kolchak The Night Stalker. I would love to have his music for The Ultimate Warrior w Yul Brenner released, among many others.

The one interesting thing that I noticed about "Google's" tribute to Star Trek TOS, is that everytime you tap on the picture on Google homepage, it took you to Star Trek news, which the first (or second story, depending upon when you went there) was about the TOS music set being released by LALALAND!!! Everytime I went there, it was either first or second, almost like someone over at LALA was getting online, and manipulating the TAGS to get it to constantly come up that way!
But, 6,000 copies is impressive, so I have to assume (and I always HATE to assume anything) that their preorder requests must be at least half that, about 3,000 people, or more. I was thinking about 4,000 or 4500! Either way, I'd bet the family cat that they will have to get additional sets printed up to fill all the orders! My experience (as limited as it is) with preorders and mail order stuff, is that you only get about 10-12% preorders on any item, and when it finally starts to get "out there" and word spreads, then the S**T really hits the fan, and the company gets inundated with orders! My friend, who worked with Majel over at "Lincoln" was constantly getting swamped, because of some new item that Lincoln was introducing, and everyone wanted one, and they wanted it "yesterday"!

Those trekkies can be SO impatient, hehehehehe :)

Either way, it's going to make a very nice Christmas present for alot of people, I think that is why LALA is waiting till the end of November to bring it out, hit the holiday rush! :)

It is the intro for the game "Starfleet Academy", which has Kirk, Sulu, and Chekov with live footage, would make a very nice movie, when you edit it down and remove all the computer menu crap that keeps popping up, along with the subtitles. There are also side links to the Klingon Academy game footage as well, very interesting stuff.

Starfleet Academy: Intro - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkU9hTNTD-Y&feature=relmfu)

Enjoy, William

I still play this game on my win 7 computer, works like a charm!! it has it's flaws, but all in all it's still fun! Thanks William...

? Intrada, or FSM???

Scotty, there is a thread in the help and assisstance section of the main forum that is for avatar help. Post the avatar you want in that thread, and Jesse od Mandi will hook you up. :)

EDIT: Avatar help is in this thread: http://forums.ffshrine.org/f7/cant-upload-avatar-unable-save-image-119472/3.html

Excuse the typing, hands are still cold and stiff...(early, early am here)

Thanks for the advise for the avatar, will try it later!;)

As for the booklets: Good catch! :) They both are FSM, of course, there are no Intrada releases of the expanded scores of STII and STIII. Didn't realize that Jediknight12 was requesting "Intrada", while indeed, she was looking for the "FSM" booklets!
Somehow it really gets a little confusing with all the labels lately releasing the various expanded editions (which is a good thing, though, mind you!) So now we have STTMP by La-La-Land, STII & STIII by FSM, STIV by Intrada, STV by La-La-Land and Intrada, and finally, STVI by Intrada.

No, not really: Trelane was a child trying to behave like an adult (and failing miserably, so he was chastised by his parents - but you couldn't help but feel sorry for him in the end). Q, on the other hand, was an arrogant, adult super-being, who always behaved like a child - I NEVER felt sorry for him, even in his worst, pityful moments!! ;)

Should anybody find a working link, though, please let me know immediately - then I won't have to do this anymore (which takes some time due to its huge amount of data!) Thanks!

You're welcome! You're right, this should have been released years ago, but better later than never!

One thing, I should mention: when you are playing the cues, please be aware that not all of them are from the composer as indexed by Verisimilitude! He made a terrific job, which took years, taking into account all the earlier versions of this huge project, but there are a few episodes who have, lets say, 50-60 percent of newly composed tracks, but also a relatively huge amount of tracked music. One example: The score for Mirror, Mirror, which was composed by Fred Steiner (mostly the first and second act), but also has tracked music from Gerald Fried, originally composed for Catspaw (the action scenes in act 3 and 4 with the man-to-man combats etc.) and some music from Doomsday Machine (Sol Kaplan). Verisimilitude added them, without indicating that they are tracked cues composed by different composers, so keep that in mind when playing the music!

Umm... I would request that when the TOS 15-disc collection is eventually shared, can it just be done in MP3 format to start with? My portable music player doesn't support flac, plus that format is waaaaaay too space-intensive for my poor, overburdened hard drive(s). That, and I've never been able to hear a difference between MP3 and flac songs anyhow.

serya

It depends on the bit rate of the mp3 - it is all compressed, but 320kbs is harder to discern from wav than 96kbs for instance. 320kbs mp3 would be best if you are ripping a CD to mp3. 15 CDs of wav or flac files would be....huge. : )

NCFirebolt21
09-17-2012, 08:47 AM
1 CD of 80 mins ripped in WAV is an average 500MB. If you think people on this forum are crazy enough to upload 8GB of Star Trek: The Original Series Soundtrack, think again; MediaFire only supports 10Gb per account and all the other file sharing sites have slow speed.

But if they do, bless them; they are being very generous.

Request away, but as you have surely noticed by now, it won't mean much. Unless admin make it a rule, there is nothing to prevent any member from posting in any format they see fit. Just saying. there are MANY free programs to convert flac to mp3. I would expect it would be posted a disc or two at a time. The RJ set was posted in flac, as you'll recall. Also, as Sparktank and others will tell you mpr vbr is a superior format than mp3 320. VBR uses only the space needed for a track, where 320 takes it all, regardless. So vbr is the same quality, for less space. Or some such...SPAAAARRRKYYYY...

From the Limited Expanded Edition (GNP, 2012) I don't have a booklet scan. What I DO have are the digital "Extended liner notes". That's a pdf file which was released online this year together with the Limited Edition. (Maybe it's still available).

I have prepared a little booklet package for Star Trek: First Contact. It contains the following:

1. from the OST (GNP, 1996): scans of the cover, 12-page booklet, outer/inner tray and CD

2. As a bonus: a folder containing the enhanced interactive video presentation of the OST (yes, that OST from 1996 was a "hybrid" CD!). I tried it, and it works just fine. There's an .exe file ("FIRST95.EXE"), which starts the interactive sequence. You are boarding the Enterprise, then you are wandering the corridor, turbolift, and finally reaching the bridge. Then you can interactively choose between several short video interviews with Rick Berman, Jonathan Frakes, Jerry Goldsmith, and his son, Joel, who had scored part of that score.

3. from the limited edition (GNP, 2012): the digital liner notes (pdf), which were available online this year when the CD was released.

Okay, time for one of my famous RANTS!!!!

Now, I was surfing over at Youtube, and found some videos of the Star Trek: the Experience in Las Vegas before it was torn down (and I do mean TORN down!) First of all, WHY is it that you TREK fans out there cannot hold a camcorder steady? You zoom in on a prop or costume in the case, and then you ZIP over here, and ZIP over there, trying to get in a much as you can in as little time possible, and the end result is totally unwatchable! When I went to film school, my teacher taught us to act like we were under water, walking in slow motion, and slow everything down to about 10% of normal! Also, #1 hint: buy a F***ING tripod!!!!
And, I don't know why you feel the need to constantly have the date/time display on, but it really destroys the whole video. If you cannot figure out how to turn the damn display off, take it back to Best-Buy, or where-ever you bought it, and have one of the techs show you how to read the instructions!!!!! One guy actually had SPANISH subtitles in his videos! W T F ? ? ? ?
Hint #2: If you don't have a tripod, LEAN AGAINST A WALL OR PILLAR! (something, GEEEZZZZ)
One guy, who apparently had worked at the experience had videotaped HOURS of behind the scenes video, and put them together in (I must admit) a very professional manner, and then placed them on "Blip.tv", where you can only view them on that site, you CANNOT download them or rip them into your computer! When you start to feel that your private videos are stuff of copyright worthyness, then you really need a reality check, BIG TIME!
Lastly, if you watch some of these videos, especially where the experience is closing after only 10 years, and you see them ripping the sets apart with a bulldozer (Like they did at Paramount at the end of "Generations") you realize the horror that some of the fans felt. They just piled all the sets out in a parking area behind the Hilton, and wouldn't allow anyone access to salvage any pieces! Some of that stuff could have gotten VERY good homes with some of the fans. They even destroyed those beautiful models of the Enterprise and Voyager! Just RIPPED them apart!
I really HATE these corporate bastards, and their visionless view of the future!

End of rant!

William

Okay, time for one of my famous RANTS!!!!

Now, I was surfing over at Youtube ...
William

I think you have forgotten to mention the fucking zoom, have you mentioned the fucking zoom, William, i don't think so, that fucking zoom is worth fucking mentioning also and don't get me talking about auto- ... actually? - auto-anything, fucking auto, auto, auto, ouch.

Williamtaylor1969
09-18-2012, 09:36 PM
OH, Man! You are SOOOOOOO correct, Olafolaf! I HATE that, when they have the camcorder on "Auto" everything, and it goes out of focus for about 30 seconds, or it focus' on the back of somebody's head, when you want to see what's going on up on a stage, and the stupid bastard with the camera cannot figure out to move one way or the other to get this jerk's HEAD out of the shot! Only then is a slight zoom needed, but does he (or she) realize that? HELL NO!!!
One guy had the "Muppets 3D" movie up on Youtube, with someone's head RIGHT in the middle of the picture!! He could have zoomed just a little to go above the person's head, or just sit up taller in your seat, but NO, he runs the whole video with this HEAD in the shot! I left a comment that it was a total WASTE to put it up there, but I think he will just delete my comment, as they so often do!
Also, going back to the experience, there was one guy who actually had the video footage from the Enteprise bridge, where you see William Riker talk to the audience! It wasn't the best quality, think it was only 360 or 280, but it was clean and clear, and NOT shot with a camcorder, it was a transfer. So, if he had a good copy like that, why not upload it to Youtube in HD?? 780 at least?
People get these things, and they just want to keep the good quality stuff for themselves, only share the crappy quality. Of course, this was the same guy that put all his videos over on Blip.tv, so he may have a problem with his own ego. He refers to himself as an "actor", just because he was one of the cast members in the show! YEAHRIGHT!!! Like all the people who ran the "Jungle cruise" ride at Disneyland are going to become big screen movie actors! Keep dreaming, pal! :)
If anyone has any footage of the Star Trek Experience, please let me know.

Thanks, William

William

I'm with you there all the way. Zooming whilst recording should be done vary sparingly, if at all. I tend to find a slow zoom whilst panning can be quite unobtrusive if used occasionally. Tripods aren't always possible, but like you say there are always walls to lean against, surfaces to lean on. If not just try to be as steady as you can be, and never never film whilst you are walking unless you have a "steadicam".

Can you really not capture the video from that guys website? Not even with screen recording software? If not, that's a real shame.

WMP has always been crap!! (and it's crap in win 7 too) personally I have a Zune (I know! but I hate being tied into Apple) at lest the Zune software can rewind and fast forward, thou it can't play FLAC but I don't care I use mp3 :P You can always try Foobar (at lest it's not spelled FUBAR lol) again I have never used it, so give it a try and let use know.

I took film making in High School (mid seventy's) we got our first b/w video recorder (reel to reel) and I can tell you we learned real fast you need a tripod, because if you hand held it and even farted it looked like a earth quake when we played the tape back, so we learned to grab a sturdy kid and leaned against him if we could not use the tripod. All this auto crap is just that...laziness! they don't want to read the damn manual or their to stupid to think there is something wrong with there video tekneek's (you know like everyone just loves to see the whole world shake and go out of focus) I hear you William!! I saw a video on youtube about the auction of all the pieces from the show and it just made me cry how they had tore everything up! not just there lack of visionless of the future, but their total lack of respect for the fans!! they spent good hard earned money going to this show for 10 years...you can bet the hotel made money off of it!!! damn what a waste.

Here's an interesting exchange about how the 15-CD TOS set came about. Apparently, it was planned already 15 years ago!

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?forumID=1&pageID=79&threadID=90900&archive=0

(discussion starting at Sep. 20)

The member called "La La Land Records" and signing with MV (that's Michael V. Gerhard, as pointed out by Faleel!) wrote:

"I know that Ford Thaxton and Mark Banning wanted to do this box set back when Vol 1 of the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek came out from GNP, but GNP didn't want to go that route. Instead they stuck to a nice simple complilation that sold very well for them."

So that "nice simple compilation" was all the could come with? It's still not clear for me what GNP really were sitting on, if they had all the trek stuff, or just parts of it.

Yes, I remember when Ford and Mark were fighting with Neil to get all the TOS stuff out there. I really believe that is why Mark left Cresendo records in the first place. Neil was just SOOOO hard headed when it came to his private collection of TOS music! I hope this LALALAND sticks in his throat and he GAGS on it! Hehehehehe (sorry, but that guy is a total TOOL!)
Yes, this is going to be really BIG for LALALAND, and I hope they have to have 10 reprints of that set! 60,000 sets sold, worldwide! That would get those guys the reconition that they deserve! :)

I went to check out the "Downloadhelper", and I see that it creates ANOTHER toolbar on my computer! That's all I need, FIVE F**King toolbars on my computer. Why can't they just create a NORMAL program that runs on my desktop, instead of having everything run on my IE homepage????

I know what you mean...when I install any program now I make sure to uncheck the box that says I want some sort of toolbar to hijack my browser to a search page I don't want, etc. Some make it very hard to get rid of once they get in there. I had a interesting day today! a old friend of the family called me because she and her husband where having problems with their computer, so I went over to there house and started checking out their computer and there was several tool bars that her husband had inadvertently added to IE and they had clogged up IE so bad that every time you started IE it would freeze up. So after 45 minutes of un-installing all this crap and disabling all the tool bars, I finely got it working again! I tried to tell them to go to Firefox but their used to IE (at there age they don't like change) so I'm sure I'll be back to their house again in a few weeks. LOOL

As far as I can tell, IE is about 10 years behind Mozilla and falling further behind all the time! the worst thing Microsoft did was tie Internet Explorer so deeply into windows (XP, Vista and Win 7) that it made the whole Operating System vulnerable to attacks! which was stupid!! there is no excuse. I have yet to see the spec's on IE 10, but Microsoft will do the same thing!! tie it deeply into Windows 8 and the cycle continues. OMG I can't thank you enough for TAS scores - in ANY FORM! I saw TAS first run as 7-year-old, just a year after my first ever exposure to Trek. I feel both the series and its music woefully neglected among fandom. I got word that the original scoring masters were trashed when Filmation got bought by Hallmark around 2000, which devestated me. I have the DVD collection and actually got the chance to meet David Gerrold a few years ago at a con. Wonderful genuine man who views himself more as a fan than a writer.

I think you may be badly infected with trojans and maybe a virus or two. Not ever anti-virus program can find what others do, in fact -- some are tricky programs which actually contain malware themselves (to fool the person downloading it). And many things don't show up during a scan.

No, that's alright, I found the "options" settings, which allow you to HIDE the toolbars, not uninstall them. No trojans or virus' here, I run both Avast and microsoft ME, side by side. it depends on how you have Firefox setup! for me all I have in the top left corner is the orange button that says Firefox, I click on that and go to add-ons, then to Extensions, this is where all your tool bars, and add-on programs are and where you can Remove or Disable anyone you need to. I use several add-ons to help protect Firefox: Adblock lite, Adblock Plus, Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon, DoNotTrackPlus, Ecleaner, Fasterfox, Ghostery, NoScript, Updated Ad Blocker for Firefox, and WOT. Login? you mean into the ffShrine? or do you mean for firefox to start up?

Google Chrome is okay, but like olafolaf said Chrome tracks your every move which is to much spying for my tastes! thats why I use Ghostery it blocks Google from tracking me and lets me know about it.

As for Spywear, Malware and Anti-Virus I use Bullguard Internet Security v 13 It plugs into Firefox and Thunderbird (email program) plus with the Firewall I have not had any problems since using the program (2 years now) oh, I get the occasional tracking cookie, but Bullguard finds it and deletes it every week (thats when it does it's scan of my system...if you use a third party firewall program turn off windows firewall!! (on a side note, I use Windows 7 Ultimate and every version of windows with the built-in firewall [XP - Win 7] is crap! it's worse then useless..because windows firewall only detects out going connections, everyone needs incoming and outgoing detection).

I hope this helps...

Scott

Oh big time!! now I don't know about Chrome, but with Firefox if it is not listed in the add-ons you can always go to: Program Files\ Mozilla Firefox\ Plugins and delete the tool bar manually... rip it out by the guts!!

Yes I have heard about "Permacookies" and your right they should get the death penalty...personally I prefer to eject them out a air lock and see how long they can hold their breath! if you have Ad Block Plus and Ghostery all cookies are set to expire when you close Firefox so no more cookie problems!! unless you put the named cookie in the exception list, which is what I do for certain web sites.

I think you may be badly infected with trojans and maybe a virus or two. Not ever anti-virus program can find what others do, in fact -- some are tricky programs which actually contain malware themselves (to fool the person downloading it). And many things don't show up during a scan.

This is very true!! unfortunately...I've seen Norton Security & Norton 360 not pick up malware or even trojans sometimes, there is just not one program that can detect or remove every miscellaneous virus, malware or spyware! windows has to many places for these pieces of crap it hid in and way to many commands so they can hid from a visual search or from a scan [example “attrib A +s +h +a” to make it super hidden]. Normally Bullguard takes 45 minutes to scan my HD's which for there size, thats not bad! but still, I know in the back of my mind it is missing something!! or will sooner then later. Also download CCleaner [CrapCleaner] (it's free) you can use it to clean all the internet crap build up, cookies, temporary internet files, and the one thing I love the most is the Tools section! you can Enable/Disable/Delete any program thats in your Start Up folder (programs like your volume control, Sidebar exc.) and any add on for IE.

Starting with Windows XP and onward the system files are automatically hidden from the user (a perfect place to hid a miscellaneous file or program) this is done to protect Windows OS from the user that deletes a critical file that windows needs to keep running, but a great way for any anti virus program not to see the virus file or folder. I know Bullguard has an option to scan system files, and monitor any changes to the system files, so I'd check to see if your anti-virus program has that option and if it does turn it on.

The only true way to never get any virus, malware or spyware is to disconnect your computer from the Internet! or use Unix or Linux, windows virus's have no effect on Unix, Linux OS's.

Second Can we get Mr. Spock to play the Vulcan lute, Uhura to sing too? maybe we can get the Admiral to sing as well!! I'll even play me bagpipes!!!

The same is true with Mac's: Windows viruses have no affect. However, with any operating system viruses are still possible. It's just that Unix, Linux and Mac are less susceptible to them, plus there are relatively few attempts to infect these systems (in comparison to Windows).

You know, I didn't THINK about the new Uhura, just that blinding scene in ST5 (I was numb from the waist down for a WEEK!) I'm just glad that I wasn't on the set that day! However, I was on the STTNG set when Majel stripped down (only once, guys, I got the impression that Majel was a bit of an exhibitionist) But is was nice seeing Marina in the alltogether, hehehehe. William, I envy you for having been on the set that day with Marina in that scene. So now, the question is, what was your job? Maybe you have been a gaffer? You see, that would be hilarious, because, in German, the term "Gaffer" means "gazer", someone who stares on a scene in a voyeuristic manner! ;)

Williamtaylor1969

Hehehehehe. Actually, I was on the set that day, practicing my "King LEER" Hehehehehe. actually, a friend of mine had told me about the shooting of that script about 2 weeks before, and they tried to hush up the actual film date of THAT scene, but he had called me that morning and told me it was going to shoot that morning. I was supposed to be recording that day, but fortunately I got a call that the session had been postponed for a day, technical problems with the equipment, which to me, was a sign from God! So, I went to the studio, went to the soundstage with my buddy, who the security just nodded at us, and allowed us to walk in. They had already started the scene, and both Marina and Majel were up on the set, wearing robes between the takes, but they soon disrobed, and filmed a little more, after the grips got the lighting just right! What I had told you all before was the fact that ALL the crew were holding one hand up in the air, and I couldn't figure out what the hell they were doing that for, until I realized that they were blocking out Majel's fat, flabby body, and just watching Marina's nice, tight youthful body! I almost laughed out loud when I figured it out! :)

Unfortunately as Apple's products have become more in demand, more and more coders (script kiddies) are trying to write virus's for iOS and ways to hack into their OS...welcome to the big leagues Apple. Every OS has it's vulnerability's, but Apple was very smart to use a derivative of Unix...Microsoft on the other hand created it's own code from scratch (Unicode or UTF 8 & UTF 16) which has more ways to gum up the works and easier to hack into.

The only way to beat all this is to create a new math! my youngest son (26) is deep into math in college (programmer) and wants to create a universal OS using a new math that every device will use (similar to what they use in the Star Trek Universe)!! needless to say it's way over my head, but I think it's a great idea...but what do I know! Uh, sorry, but I just have to correct that. Unicode & UTF are character sets, not computer code. Microsoft didn't invent them, and Apple products also use them. You don't hack anything using a character set. That's like saying you could write a virus/program in English easier than Spanish. Since spoken/written languages aren't programming languages, you can't do it in either! ("ear-worms" not withstanding). It is true that most viruses target Microsoft technology (usually to it's application APIs that are targeted, that's where Outlook and Office products "viruses" (actually trojans) began, and they moved on to Windows Networking DLLs and Java exploits, etc.).

I'm not a hacker, but I am a Mac user and there's really only ever been one Mac "virus" of any widespread consequence, and that was back in 1998 (AutoStart9805 worm which didn't really do anything harmful other than slow your Mac to a crawl). Since the transition to OS X (and now iOS), there's been *nothing* (except the ones "detected" by companies desiring to sell people their anti-virus software, but only actually infect a handful worldwide or computers within their testing labs...

I'm not saying it won't happen, any system can have exploits, but Apple's products just don't have a problem compared to PCs running Windows (any flavor).

Yeah, some midevil movie I can't recall the name of. She gets in a fight with another lady. I think a whip was involved. Her shirt gets ripped off, and she spends the rest of the fight topless.

I never thought of her in sexual terms on TNG -- she was just the counselor. But that Star Trek: The Experience video I post a couple pages back, I just couldn't help but for the first time to notice how much she was showing off those legs -- which were nice.

Oh, and MAC's can get a virus just like regular PC's. It's just that most people don't use MAC's, and it's more realistic to target the majority than the minority, if you want sensitive data or take harm people. When half the people start using MAC's, then you'll start seeing virus proliferation. I bet there's dozens of MAC viruses sitting out there, waiting to be used, by people who made them.

Would anybody here happens to know what was the first episode of D.S.9. that used the decending Dominion theme?

The other film that she was topless in was called "Blind Date", but NOT the one with Bruce Willis in it! WHY do they always do that? Two films in the same decade with the same name? Really confusing.

Anyway, enjoy the film, LOTS of T&A, lots of naked nubile young girls running around. I have the DVD master that I got long ago. Too bad it's 4X3 and not 6X19. :(

I have had a paid account with Hotfile for several years and had no problems with any of my uploads or downloads, as a matter of fact all of my uploads from two year's ago are still there and active. All this my be because the up-loader is not a paid subscriber, which can answer why others are having difficulty's, a lot of my file titles are not disguised (the older ones anyway) nor are any of them password protected. I think it all comes down to a paid account and a free one!

I sent them an email and they insisted that they do I.P. checking to ensure non-subscribers can only download one thing at a time and that someone on my network must be in the midst of downloading something. Nope, I'm the only one on the network (besides my wife who knows nothing about HF). They also suggested that my ISP may have me running through a shared proxy server and someone on that server is downloading from them. As far as I can tell, my ISP (Comcast) doe not have me running through a proxy server with other users. And even if they did, someone else has been d/ling from HF without interruption for 5 days running? I don't think so...I've had similar problems with them in the past when download got interrupted or hung for some reason. You go back to try to restart the d/l and HF insists you're still downloading the first file.

In short...nuts!! If I can't get anything to d/l from HF, I may have to contact the posters for alternate sharing locations. What a pain for all parties involved. :(

It sounds like Hotfile and Comcast are both passing the buck...figures. I can't believe Hotfile would let someone download for 5 days straight and not blocked them or question that. One of the major down sides to Comcast is you share your connection with everyone else in your area, so as others come on their computers your connection speed drops....sucks but most of the time thats all some people can get in the area they live. One thing I can think of is to shut down your modem and then re-start it (that should give you a new IP address) and may allow you to download again from HF. Does your modem have built in WiFi? if it does and you have not password protected it, someone could be siphoning off you! also could be Malware on your computer, run a full scan on your computer. Yeah it would be a pain but depending on what files your trying to download, it could be done. Let us know what happens and I hope what I said fixes your problem.

ScottI'm not a huge fan of Comcast for a variety of reasons but they are the only feasible high-speed option here. DSL only goes to 1.5 in my area and the phone company (formerly QWest, now CenturyLink -- who???) doesn't seem to be interested in doing anything to improve it.

I'm not a fan of Comcast either! even where I live we have Comcast or AT&T U-verse...the max is 1.5! if you want faster you have to go to a business class or a T-1 line (both more expensive) CenturyLink has a fiber Network cable and QWest fiber Network cable both up in your area, so there is no reason not to offer faster service....other then fiber coast $1,000.00 a foot plus the digital switch's and man power put it all in. It does not help that CenturyLink is the third largest Telecommunication company in the country, right behind AT&T & Verizon...until AT&T or Verizon comes into your area, your stuck.

Have you tried shutting down your modem and re-starting it? let me know if it worked or not...

Scott

p.s. you could try changing you DNS server address and see if you can download from HF, if you know what your doing change the DNS address to 75.75.75.75 thats for Comcast clients only...don't forget to write down your current DNS address, if it does not work you will need it to get your dsl service working again....Good luck!

At least, they have continually told me that where I live I can only get 1.5 because of the limitations of the wiring in my area. I'll look into the DNS thing (I know a guy who can walk me through the process) but first I'll try shutting down the modem to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the tips.

Your Welcome!!

Go to CenturyLink | Local Provider of High Speed Internet, Phone, Mobile & TV Services (http://www.centurylink.com/) scrawl to the bottom of the page and look on the right side until you find "About Us" under that you'll see "Merger News" click on that, there you will find their "Statement", check the box, hit submit button, scrawl to the bottom of the page, there you will find their National Network Map's and you can see where their fiber trunks are in relation to where you live. If you click on the map(S) a pdf will open and you get a closer look at the map. The "limitations on wiring" is a euphemism for "We are not going to pay to upgrade cat-5 [cooper] to fiber optic (Cat-6) in your area for one individual". Your only hope is a private company and a dedicated T-1 line...which means big bucks! Good luck...

October 15, 2012 — GNP Crescendo Records continues its commitment to Star Trek fans with the first-ever release of Dennis McCarthy’s complete score for Star Trek Generations (1994). This 2 CD collector’s edition features the complete film score on disc one (including music for one scene deleted from the finished film), and a remastered version of the 1994 GNP soundtrack album (and its innovative sound effects library) on disc two.

Star Trek Generations was the first feature film starring the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation, a “passing the baton” story in which Star Trek: The Original Series character James T. Kirk (William Shatner) teams up with Star Trek: The Next Generation Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) via a mysterious space/time phenomenon called the Nexus to battle an obsessed alien scientist, Dr. Soran (Malcolm McDowell).

Generations’ atypical (for Star Trek) mood of melancholy, contemplation and—ultimately—uplift was captured by the composer who has scored more hours of the modern-day Star Trek television series than any other, Dennis McCarthy. Relishing the opportunity to work with a large orchestra and a more cinematic vocabulary, McCarthy used a broader, more melodic palette befitting the big-screen presentation.

From its innovatively gentle main title music to its traditionally heroic themes, from its haunting choir-infused music for the Nexus to its strategically spotted quotes of Alexander Courage’s Star Trek fanfare, McCarthy’s score both honors tradition and brings a fresh new voice to the Star Trek universe.

GNP Crescendo released the original soundtrack album to Star Trek Generations in 1994, featuring 45 minutes of score highlights. This expanded release includes not only the full score (nearly 76 minutes) and remastered album, but also 3 bonus tracks—including the motion picture dialogue “Lifeforms” performed and somewhat improvised by Brent Spiner (as Data).

The accompanying 16-page booklet includes informative notes by Jeff Bond and Lukas Kendall and is lavishly illustrated with film stills. A track-by-track commentary for both discs by John Takis is available online at gnpcrescendo.com/generations (http://gnpcrescendo.com/generations/). STAR TREK GENERATIONS—2 CD Collector’s Edition (GNPD 8080) is a limited edition of 10,000 units, and is available solely as a physical CD from GNP Crescendo Records.

Nah, nah, everything about this movie just breathes "made for tv movie", including this score. And Dennis McCarthy might have done the most TV Star Trek music, but it sound to much like replaceable drone sounds you can pastiche over all kinds of episodes or other tv series entirely. Sorry, Ron Jones, Jay Chattaway, John Debney and Don Davis, the stand-out-music episodes are the ones that stick to ones ears. McCarthy did the most music for Star Trek not because he is the best, but because he is the most compliant to the producers and that makes him pleasant to work with, but not necessarily to listen to. Some good stuff he delivers, right. But the ratio of intersting music versus his amount of what he composed for Trek also makes him the worst composer of Star Trek.

Well, it's nice to see old Neil Norman finally coming out of his Malibu beach house to release something for the TREK fans! Even though it seems like he had someone else just doing his work for him. I don't know, seems all the drugs he's taken, and maybe a small drinking problem have caught up with Mr. Norman. He's almost a total recluse in his own home. Even his boyfriends from the past have not seen him in almost 10 years. When Mark Banning left to work for other entertainment venues, it seems that the wind just went out of GNPs sails! However with LALALAND starting to sell TREK music, in a BIG way, perhaps all the old GNP recordings will fall by the wayside.

Oh, gee, did i sound like i hate him? Actually i don't. The DS9 Theme is real nice for instance and i really like his work on the V Series. I just don't think he was that great on TNG and DS9 in general.

No, he didn't "hurt" me personally, he just ripped me off of about 5,000-8,000 dollars as part of a VERBAL agreement that he and I had on the TOS music, and TOS sound effects. I was supposed to get 5% of the gross profits, and I have not seen a dime! No way to sue, since I have no witnesses, and no evidence of any arrangement, according to my attorney. So, I just have to eat any extra money that he owed me, and just live and learn. About his drug use, I can say that I have personally witnessed that, since he offered me some, to my face, at a party at his old house in the Hollywood hills! Hey, everyone in Hollywood does drugs, right? About his drinking problem, I can only say what I had heard in the business, about 12-14 years ago. About his boyfriends? Once again, I can only say what I have personally witnessed at his old house in the Hollywood Hills, but he may have gone straight by now! (Yea, RIGHT!)

Not writing this to defend that guy, but he can drink, sniff and poke what- and whoever he likes in my opinion, but then again i am from Europe and folks are rather liberal. Must add however that i drink perhaps one beer a month and hate drugs for myself - nothing better than a clear head; oh yeah and before you ask, i am into woman :P

Regarding the hand shake: Stuff like this is hardly ever about the money but the glory. Fake douchbags like this guy Norman seems to be ... snapping achievement from folks to which it really belongs. Hm. Reminded of "Dead On Arrival" (second incarnation). Rather sorry existences if you ask me and the "sorry" almost taking over, if such people wouldn't mess with our own lives in the process. May Dirty Harry make his day, yeah, in the really good dramas, the regrets always come later ... :P

I...will only say that i find the majority of the New Trek score to be fairly repetitive and bland in general. I do understand, however, that that is exactly what the producers wanted. Their call I guess. I do feel that approach backfired on Generations. As a whole, I am not a big fan of it, and the music was unexciting. I just saw it recently, and the nit-picks just float to the front....

I think you're just looking at the contents of the second CD. The entire album itself has like 12 new tracks and 4 more with additional music and something like a half hour of new stuff. I don't think including the album CD was really necessary, but the extra $5 for that won't put me off buying this.

I love this score, BTW, and have since I saw the film. Most underrated music in the film series. But if all you guys hate it, that's cool. Maybe it'll stick around awhile so I have a little time to buy it.

MAN! you got that right in ONE! :)

Hit the nail right on the head, good shot!

The only problem I have with whatever the guy is doing on his own time, it affects his judgements in the business world. And, if he's going to be controlling what the public sees, as far as TREK is concerned, and he only sees dollar signs, by way of getting more booze, more coke, more little boys to play with, then that hits us all, right where we LIVE! AND, I know from personal experience that many in the biz do similar situations, and allow their judgments to be clouded in the same way. That's why you see SO many actors and actresses with no talent get the "el primo" roles in movies and TV shows. They come from nowhere, and jump into "A list" movies without any training, talent or anything. There are two people that I have watched over the years, jump from being totally unknown to making it big time in both TV and movies, and I think to myself "How could this happen?". But I know that it's NOT who you know, but who you sleep with in the business that matters. And both of these actors are TOTAL whores in the biz!
And you are totally correct, Norman is a complete douchbag! The sad thing about this, is that he's burned SO many bridges in the biz, and SO many people know that he is a complete jackass, and refuse to even take his phone calls anymore. I don't think that there is even one exec at Paramount, now that it is owned by CBS, who would return a call from him! Amazing! Back in 1989, he had the whole TREK part of the studio at his beck and call, and he just threw it away for some quick thrills and a high here and there. Hope his Malibu house gets foreclosed on! :)

It's really disgusting how many A-list actors have little or no talent in the industry. It's even more disgusting that the vast majority of the populous doesn't care or has been so dumbed down by the likes of Snooki and JWow that they are incapable of distinguishing between actual talent and just something that isn't quite as bad as the trash that dominates the airwaves. Unfortunately, the public shells out the $$ to see films in the cinema with poor acting and unoriginal story-telling. If the public demanded better quality story-telling, acting, music, and didn't solely rely on special-effects or the newest talentless hack on the A-list, we would ultimately end up with a much better and consistent product coming out of Hollywood. Alas, I don't see this happening any time soon. Maybe if actors, producers, and studio execs spent less time getting high, boozing,a nd sleeping around, they might actually focus on doing some actual work to justify the ridiculous salaries they are all receiving.

I don't mean to say I "hate" Generations' score as such. It is just....well more of a texture type of listening, and that's fine. But there is SO much of his and other Next Gen tracks out now, I just...can't listen to it all day. Even the big RJ set remains 3/4 unlistened to for me....

Here's my review of the set -- hopefulyl it will help you narrow down which scores you want to give priority to and which ones you want to skip.

I dunno if this is odd, but actually some of the style of music I Enjoy most on any of the series are the ship flybys, orbital enter leave shots and captain's logs.

This is not odd at all. Some of the flyby's have alos acted as intro's to a given ship and is usually written beautifully.
