Depending on how you define 'Alternate Timeline Etc...' (since you included the reboot which is an alternate timeline :) ) then Original Series kept a full crew during it's broadcast run. Next Generation lost Tasha Yar in Season 1 Episode 23 'Skin Of Evil, Deep Space Nine lost Jadzia Dax in Season Six Finale 'Tears Of The Prophets', Voyager lost Harry Kim in Season 2 Episode 21 "Deadlock'.

Novels?

yes. i love the trek novels. several hundreds of them, TOS, TNG, Titan, Voyager, DS9, others...
there are some of the alternate timeline too:
I know mainly of 4 star fleet academy novels, and both movie novels?

help me out please, which ones? (any i do not know yet??)

There is a sequence of novels that have been published over the last few years that pick up after the end of 'These Are The Voyages'. They help explain some of the 'flubs' such as how a pirate ship that can only do Warp 2 can catch a starship, where did all the MACO's go, etc. I like each of these and find them to be at least as good as the series itself. They are listed here in suggested reading order based on the event sequences:
Last Full Measure
The Good That Men Do
Kobayashi Maru
Romulan War Book One Beneath The Raptor's Wing
Romulan War Book Two To Brave The Storm
Rise Of The Federation A Choice Of Futures
Rise Of The Federation Tower Of Babel

If you like those you might also try the 'continuation' novels for Next Generation and Deep Space Nine that have picked up after everything that was broadcast.

---------- Post added at 01:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:29 PM ----------

It's been too long. There is no way it's work. plus, most of the general viewing public would not watch. Netflix looks at profit and Enterprise was tanking in the ratingfs, mostly because fans did not like their stories. Why would now be any different? Trek as we knew it is dead.

Amanda
04-19-2014, 09:41 PM
QWell right. The new "reality" is what we have. I do not see any live action series in the "old" reality being green lit, simply as a business standard. It would take viewers away from the new films. They will not go back to any of the classic series now.

Pearlcorderman

Amanda
04-19-2014, 10:05 PM
I am watching more or less on Netflix but not for some months. Too much I want to see right now. As for Enterprise I think they would have to progress the time-line to account for cast changes. Is it realistic Archer would not be an admiral by now? Doing that could limit the need for Bakula.All the others could have moved on too. You could almost totally revamp with mostly new characters. The sets could progress. It would be a great chance to add more of the original series' color theme. I still think the fans are a problem. Reading the fb page they are already mapping out where it will go even though we all know the have no interest in doing anything but what they want. And that messing with canon is what caused fans to abandon it in the first place.

But I doubt this too. Jumping ahead 100 years or so. They rebooted to TOS for the reason of completely redoing the series and I suspect they will continue doing so as long as they make money. And frankly the general public seems to like them, regardless of fans. And traitors to the cause, like Sorei....:D

Williamtaylor1969
04-21-2014, 04:57 PM
That is a really GOOD point. Didn't know that about Seth! However, as long as JJ still brings in truckloads of money to Paramount/CBS/Viacom, he will have carte blanche to do with TREK whatever the HELL he wants, fans be damned! :(

I have said before that Gene Roddenberry Junior "Rod", should SUE Paramount and take Star Trek BACK! They have gone TOO far off of the path of what is normal TREK, first with Berman/Braga and now with JJ! Rod could wrestle control away from the studio, since his father was the "Creator", and I think that he could have the fans rally his support!

I know that he would have MY support! :D

And, to change the subject (and he DID) Why is it that all these true Scifi fans ALWAYS marry someone who really HATES Scifi????? :( I have always had females that loved my passion, and I stayed well away from those that did not! Tis' a mystery!!! :D

Williamtaylor1969

Noooooooo, he TOLERATES it! Which is what one girl that I dated one time had said "Oh, you LIKE 'Star Trek'?" That was ALL I needed to make a dash for the door, after paying for the check! I've had some really BAD experiences with females, so I guess I should not be "throwing stones" (NO pun on my last name intended) :D

One lady, who worked at an insurance company, was really taken with me over the phone, so I invited her out to dinner that Friday. When I showed up at her house, she said that the sitter had not shown up, and we would have to take her 7 year old daughter with us! Being male, "Young, dumb & full of cum" and basically a SUCKER, I agreed to that. Both girls ordered the MOST expensive food on the menu, eating very little. About halfway thru, Mommy excused herself, and went off with her daughter to the restroom. When they both returned, the daughter looked at me, with a smile, and says "Daddy, can I have cake for dessert"? OH MY GOD!!! Last freakin thing I want to be is an instant DADDY!!! Needess to say, there was not a second date! :D

When I was in college, my girlfriend, who was still a virgin, and completely terrified about sex, told me that I should just go get a hooker, and "Get it out of my system"!! As if one sexual encounter would get it out of my system! :)

I have MANY more stories of close encounters of the female kind! I should write a screenplay, comedy/tragedy! :D

Greg

I suposse seing as the next gen was made with gene and berman berman technly owns the rights as do paramoumt.

No, Berman was just an assistant producer, and he had nothing to do with the creation of STTNG. Perhaps DS9, which he stole from j micheal straczynski,
the creator of "Babylon 5", who brought the story to Paramount about 2 years BEFORE DS9 was even a twinkle in anyone's eyes, or Voyager, or that bastard child, "Enterprise", perhaps, but not Next Generation".

No, there was something strange about Gene's agreement with Paramount, either originally, or during one of the many transfers of all things Paramount to different corporations! His original agreement was with "Desilu", NOT Paramount. When Desilu went bellyup, their contracts went over to Paramount, and then over to Gulf & Western, then someone else, and then to Viacom, and now CBS! Somewhere in all that legal rhetoric, something happened. It would take an army of legal experts to find out exactly what! I do know that Gene's first wife had sued Paramount after his death, claiming that he was still married to her when the original contract for Star Trek was created! Without blinking an eye, they gave her 44 million to be finished with it. There is something that someone doesn't want known!

The TRUTH is out there! :D

Right, Mulder?

I can't help but feel an outrage how the drawn faces of Chris Pine and co.

That is why I don't like, own the DVDs, and except 2009, will not watch another. There is only one of each of TOS crew, not New Voyages/Phase II or JJ Abrams. As long as we have the DVDs, TOS,TAS,and the 6 movies, Star Trek will never die. 5 movies, if you don't want to count ST5.

I'm not surprised, since it is the current Star Trek (or so they say), they have to squeeze the new fans, like they did with us, with TOS for all on the money they can get.

Hello, Gang! :)

Everyone here should know by now about my ongoing fight with Ralph M. Miller, the guy who is taking credit for the TOS sound effects that I LOCATED at "Horta Editorial" and got copies to give to Neil Norman over at "Crescendo records" so that he can release them to the whole WORLD! A recent conversation on Facebook with "Mark Banning", who worked with Neil, and was aware of my contribution to that effort, and knows that Mr. Miller had NOTHING to do with it, just cements my truthful statements and proves Miller to be the liar that he is!

On Mr. Miller's personal pages, he recently posted a picture he calls "My Nemesis", where he photoshopped his face onto a hairline that is VERY much like mine, and several of my friends that know Ralph, and know me as well, can clearly see that this is supposed to be ME! They have also commented on how childish it is for a man who is pushing 60 to be acting like this. Here is the photo:

I just wanted you all to know what I'm going thru, and how LOW some people can get, when they are jealous of all that I have done! What a waste of time and life! :)

I read the book in High School, saw the Price version years ago (have it on DVD) it was okay! but I'm with Sorei, still love the Heston version! and saw the latest version, Smith made Neville a wussy! there is a 4th version done in 2007! Hello, Gang. Okay, having a BIG problem now for a couple of months, and I don't know what to do. Every time I try to upload a file to "Mirrorcreator", the process bar goes ALL the way to about 80%, within 5 seconds, and STOPS! I let the file sit, wait for a couple of hours and NOTHING! I thought there was something wrong with that site, so I went over to "Zippyshare" and then "Cloudfiles" and a couple of others. It doesn't matter if I use CHROME, or FIREFOX, they get up to 99% and STOP, or the page goes blank, or it says "This page cannot be displayed"!

So, I'm thinking that it's a virus in my computer, but everything scans okay, with ALL of my anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc. But, being paranoid, I try a different computer this morning and SAME THING! I've got Mirrorcreator sitting right now, doing nothing! :(

Does anyone have any ideas?

Because of the license holder to do the Serenity is Quantum Mechanix aka QMx and the they only sell high end priced display ships, and a model would cut into their sales. So, that is that.

I really Like The Wrath of Khan as well, but I don't believe I've seen the directors cut. Is there a lot of difference between the cinema release and the directors cut? My two favorite original series movies would have the be Wrath of Khan and the Undiscovered Country. I find it very hard to choose between the two.

My friend, his son, my two boys and I are watching all the trek movies in order ( when my wife is working a night on Saturdays) and last night was The Voyage Home. Next time we have the joys of The Final Frontier. I have not watched that once since I purchased an ex-rental copy on VHS in 1990, which was not very good quality, and was taken back to the video rental store. So will it be as bad a film as I remember? We'll have to see. I seem to remember a scene where Uhura was singing naked in silhouette, or was that just a bad dream ;)

Good night, sleep tight,
Dont let the bedbugs bite
Wake up bright
In the morning light
To do whats right
With all your might.

==================================

Little baby, lay your head
On your pretty cradle-bed;
Shut your eye-peeps, now the day
And the light are gone away;
All the clothes are tucked in tight;
Little baby dear, good night.

Yes, my darling, well I know
How the bitter wind doth blow;
And the winter's snow and rain
Patter on the windowpane;
But they cannot come in here,
To my little baby dear;

For the window shuttest fast,
Till the stormy night is past;
And the curtains warm are spread
Round about her cradle-bed.
So till morning shineth bright,
Little baby dear, good night.

==================================

Say goodnight,
Baby dear!
Softly sleep,
Sweetly dream,
Mama's here.
Til the day
Comes again,
Mama's near.

Sorry for not being around this past 2 week's! April 20th was my mothers 87th birthday, then 6 days later (April 26th) she passed away! :( so for the next week we had to plan our mothers funeral. May 3rd we had her funeral, which was bitter sweet! but now she is no longer suffering. Thank You all for all your thoughts and prayers over the last 4 months.

Mr. Scott, Words alone cannot convey our deepest regrets on the loss of your mother. Take solace in the fact that she will be waiting for you, and you will see her again, soon enough. Just think of her on "Vacation", and when you join her, you two can have fun together and enjoy each others company all over again! :D

Scotty, I know that you were thankful for your Mom's love, and that SHE KNEW IT. Believe me, knowing these things is a great comfort when remembering a lost parent. At least for me. Our prayers are with you for comfort and for strength.

Thank You one and all for your kind words!

My brothers, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and I loved our Mother deeply and we were able to celebrate her 87 birthday one last time! she was able to see and talk with her youngest brother a day before she passed away. She had a very full life with 7 brothers and sisters, 25 nephews & nieces, 11 great nephews & nieces, 8 great-great nephews & nieces, and many life long friends that all loved her. I can proudly say (and my 2 other brothers all agree) that "We are the luckiest kids in the world to have such a loving, caring mother as we did".

Just minutes after I sent you my p.m. today, I read here your message about the demise of your mother. My deepest condolences to you and your family (also from my mother, of course!). It's good that she hasn't to suffer anymore, and she passed away with her loved ones around her in her last weeks she was granted by the Lord. Your mother will not be forgotten, and will live on in some form as she will be remembered in love by all her family members. My prayers to you, my friend!

She will not be forgotten is right! All I have to do is look in the mirror or look into the face's of my sons and the face's of my nieces and I see my mother, myself or my brother :) We all live on in our children! a small piece of immortality until the end of time.

I Disagree. Some Of The Stories Where Good [Maily Beacuse I Love The Borg But Anyway] But I Personally Feel The 1st Free DS9 Are Fillers As I Liked The Whole Dominion War Ark.

You're much of DS9 early season were filler, the rang alongside TNG and they needed to stay true to it. The only real effect of DS9 we saw in TNG was that Ensign Ro episode were she betrays the Federation and joins the Marquis.

On a side note, I notice so many early Voyager episodes were Janeway needs to be soft, understandig and sharing in one other crewmans suffering. Kate Mulgrew doesn't seem to know how to play that side of Janeway and I believe it is because it's more of an invention than true to the Character. Not that Janeway is unfeeling it's just the stuff she's supposed to feel deeply about aren't worth that much emotion.
And one other thing i dislike about Voyager is how they didn't understand how to make use of Neelix. In the first episode he has the Voyager crew completely fooled, he is a bit of a scoundrel, not a bad person, but streetwise. And then they turn him into a jolly go happy purposeless clown.

Again True S3 Of Ent Was Its Worst. I Did Like 4 With Its Short Stories [Mini Arks] However I Donno Why But I Will Always Lean To TNG As My Fav Maybe Its Because Thats When Me And My Dad Always Sat To Watch TNG He Died After S7 Finished And It Just Never Felt The Same Again Don't Get Me Wrong I Love All ST Just Not As Much As TNG.

The chemistry of TNG is just awesome, they really make you feel like family :) Riker adds a lot to that.

James (The Disney Guy)

Riker is a good family guy he and picard hold the crew together well with data like the child learning how to adapt to human learning. I was pleased that wes left aswell.

When TNG was announced I was thrilled, the 1701 in the future, new crew, new stories. But, I'm still upset over the main and end theme. I know it was Gene's choice, but, why STTMP, when a NEW theme for a new show should have been used. I really like Dennis McCarthy's theme, better that what is used.

James (The Disney Guy)

I Suposse It Did Look Like A "Steal" But I Suppose It Is A Bit Diffent From TMP As It Was Faster pased

Hi,

it is certainly not new for you, but on youtube you can find "Star Trek Into Darkness complete score". I hope, the official complete / expanded score will be published soon. I have bought the first one and would also buy the second. I love complete soundtracks. My favourite is "Star Trek III", but also the soundtrack of "Star Trek V" is amazing.

About the youtube-"score" I just cannot understand HOW it can leak! There are certainly only a few people who would have the possibility, but not an interest in "sharing". I am just curious. What do you think?

Also I hope, a new TV-series will come around (who does not?). BUT I am afraid, "Trek" is almost dead. I assume, we will have to be happy about the five series and a hand full of new movies....

I'd have to agree with you regarding ST Voyager. It's seriously underrated. In any case, that would be a lot of filler - seven seasons worth in fact. Kind of reminds me a car I once bought. No ST has ever been 'perfect'. I've haven't seen as much filler in Voyager than I've seen here in this forum.
