---------- Post added at 07:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:15 AM ----------

sorry, I just can't resist, in light of some of the crap I'm reading in here.

Pro-war?....i guess the part that doesn't believe in allowing the Earth to get its ass kicked.
capitalist?..i suppose the part that believes in progress not dependence.
pro-life?.....do i really have to answer that one? i'm assuming you don't mean the freedom to abort idiots, because everyone knows which isle the higher I.Q.'s are not on. you know, like Hank Johnson (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs23CjIWMgA) who believes the threat that Guam could flip over from too many people on one end of the Island!
anti-women?...you're confused with whom actually passed the Civil Rights Bills.
religious?...uh what??? are You saying that the Federation doesn't allow religion?
homophobic?...what the heck are you trying to say here? are the republicans at fault for not passing some lame un-needed bill? are the gays being descriminated against somehow by only republicans? many republicans are GAY!!!!!!!!!
racist?...again you're confused with whom actually passed the Civil Rights Bills. and the democratic presidents that were in office are on record as opposing the bills, signed them so as not to look racist or biggeted, but got credit for the bills when the conservitives wrote the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments! i suppose you think Frederick Douglas, Jackie Robinson, Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver, Sojourner Truth, Mary McLeod Bethune and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were democrats!
pro-war?...you have this twice? is it because Obummer is backing the WAR for the GLOBALIST like the little puppet he and all the rest of them are!!!
anti-healthcare?...do you really believe republicans are anti-healthcare??? well i remember a day when healthcare was affordible, not anymore! especially now the governments' running it!!! our's went up almost a hundred dollars a month so far! our income is below 28,000 a year GROSS!!!!!! we can't even make it payday to payday anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
illegal aliens????????...uh heh, you really believe that anyone has the RIGHT to WALTZ RIGHT or LEFT into any country and act as if they have a right to anything they WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't recall what built in incentive in Star Trek many seem to think is there! Are you saying that if we lived in a Star Trek World created by COMMUNIST which is what a progressive IS that there would be no LAZY asses anymore???? That Star Trek has overcome LAZY ASSES???? because without abortion i'm not seeing that, or maybe you're for gene manipulation to decide the future?

So now we gather that Man needs not strive anymore, that'll all be taken care of BY THE LEFT???????? maybe if we can get 200 more Hank Johnsons in office we'll finally have a Star Trek World, but don't stand in the same area or walk in the same direction, we may cause the earth to spin in the wrong direction or fly out of orbit. OR are WE beginning to see the REAL problem here? what's really holding man from moving foward. People are so gullible they believe whatever they hear from thier side, like Global Warming, over population, terrorist everywhere, even Evolution. I'll believe it when i see the proof, and analize the hell out of it, not just take anybodies word for it. I've witnessed so many lies and desceptions in every part of the world, and back through history, and we are not headed into a Utopian Future as they want you to believe. I've listened to Globalist's family members speak of the commen people as usless feeders, goyim, cattle, beast, and that it's that time of the year to thin the herd (refering to pandimic threats and giving flu shots) that make more sick and die than the actual flu itself. Genetically owning all life with patents (passed by the Supreme Court). Destroying the natural food supply and hording natural seeds for themselves, spraying to kill all natural plant life. If people do not see that there's a detachment among the Real Rich on this planet, i mean the trillionaire families running this planet whom now own over half of the planet literally and are taking the rest. Who want it all for themselves, to have all wealth, power, eternal health, travel, freedom for themselves and YOU as a slave! STAR TREK IS FOR THEM NOT YOU attitude!. And the Popes trying to set up a One World Religion! (already Law but not inforced yet). It looks to me and others that this little reprieve from the Dark Ages is over, and we're all falling down the slide of bickering and argueing over petty crap, racism, biggetry, ideals while our governments are accesseries to selling our liberties to these people who care nothing about what happens to us in the end. Reminds me of that last Book in the Bible. BUT We are many and they are not, and that's what scares the hell out of them, i've heard it from their lips. Let's stop doing what they want and get our country back (and around the world), our liberties that are guaranteed in the Constitution and Bill Of Rights that our Government thinks we can do without. That Obama say'd was a hindrance to what the goverment can do to us. STAND UP FOR YOUR SELVES and STOP THIS MADNESS THEY ARE CONTROLLING! I'm all for a STAR TREK WORLD, if i saw it coming, but i don't.

sorry, had to get that off my frontal lobe.

They're expendable, in fact all are expendable. remember the needs of the many outway the needs of the few, or the one. it's called democracy. we don't need a constitution that protects the individual anymore. This is the new Star Trek World we live in. 51% of us are going to vote what to do with your earnings and property, it's only fare right?, the needs of the many. Laws are being passed to allow those without to take from those who don't, haven't you ever been to Africa? other countries too. soon i'll be able to move in with you guys and no one will be able to do anything legal about it. they're just not enforcing it yet. you think i'm full of it don't you? hehe just can't wait for the future, it's gonna be so Star Trekky. BTW i have a grey shirt on, does that mean i'll be neutralized? ok, i put a blue shirt on, i'm good to go. Kind of looks like a 21st Century Fat Man! minus the stabilizing fins.

I do believe The Federation now has "Trilithium" which is an inhibitor of nuclear reactions, such as the fusion processes within the interior of stars. Even a small amount of Trilithium is sufficient to halt all nuclear fusion in a star, resulting in a quantum implosion. The star would collapse under its own mass, generating a shock wave powerful enough to destroy everything in its system. If the star was of sufficient size, the core collapse could lead to a supernova. A "Nova Bomb" destabilizes a star's gravity, With no gravity, the hydrogen gas which was undergoing fusion disperses in all directions, exploding and destroying everything in its path. Either way, both will suck the paint right off your house and give you an orange afro for a thousand years!

I think it's inevitable... eventually. But I also think it could be a looooong time before it happens. And if Orci's involved it'll more than likely take place in the new movie timeline. But I think Star Trek, ultimately, works better on TV.

Aye! I can get technical at times :)

I don't know if Paramount will ever bring Trek back to the small screen again! they weigh the cost of production with the profit the studio will make. We all would love to see it on TV again, but you really have to have one hell of a production team to put so many hours into what it takes to get one hour (more like 40 minutes, after all the commercials are removed) on the small screen, and Paramount already lost there shorts in starting UPN! The only way I see it is for Paramount to allow CBS to do the show (they already have all the experience in Television Production) and Paramount needs to stay with just making major motion pictures. The Paramount Studio was never suited to make television shows and ties up way to much space on the lot that could be used for full length films, unless the studio bought (if there even still there anymore) "Studio City Television Productions" or maybe the old MGM lot and use that for television production or do what Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner did with Stargate SG-1! go to The Bridge Studios in Burnaby, British Columbia, it sure would be cheaper to film there then in LA. The next question would be where do you start this new show? 23rd Century? 24th or later? they already have covered 22nd, 23rd, and 24th Century's! so it looks like the 25th Century is left or later on! If they do bring Trek back I would stay way from any of the old production team members (producers and writers) and start fresh! Just my opinion...

I hate to piss on this, but here's what that guy said:

If you look at the making-of for this video (link in the description), you will discover it is not JJ, but the ugly ship design which this film is aimed at.

James and JJ are friends and James even has a cameo in the first JJ movie.

As a fan-film production, we are not allowed to put our series on TV and we distribute it, free of charge, on the internet.

JJ did revitalize Star Trek and that is a good thing, even if we differ on how he did it.

So no one can go back and stop the destruction of the Sun that caused Romulus to be destroyed? or maybe destroy other systems to wipeout the JJ Universe all together? Somebody's gonna have to go back and get a shit load of bombs! What will that Asshole think of next!!!

Why would they do that? It would cause their own reality to cease existing. The Prime universe still exists. It's as they said in the first of the new films: it's an alternate reality, not an amended reality.

I think it's funny how people dump on the director when he's not the one writing the scripts. It's not like George Lucas, for crying out loud.

Cool, so we still have the Prime universe to look forward to. And hey maybe the two will battle it out and does that mean one of them is the Dark Universe or do we have three now?

You know how Marvel has the original universe and the Ultimates universe...? (Let's not go there with DC continuity which has been rejigged a billion times)... The original MU exists alongside the Ultimates one just fine. And then the movie universe exists alongside those.

There's absolutely no reason why a TV show couldn't go back to the Prime universe of Star Trek - it just takes the imagination of the caretakers to allow it. You could set it in the very late 24th century or early 25th without massively contradicting what's gone before (no pun intended) and make it very palatable to a modern TV audience. (ST has contradicted itself over time, anyway. Lotta continuity there to keep track of.)

What I mean is, there's no reason why the movie and TV franchises couldn't each keep on their merry way without necessarily overlapping - the JJverse and the original, Prime universe. All it needs is some far-sighted Viacom executive (STOP LAUGHING!) to let it happen. And that way, both CBS and Paramount could keep their individual cash cows - sorry, franchises - and audiences of either/both would be happy. Seems a very obvious solution to me.

Yes, it's technically still there, unaltered. Think of it like drawing a vertical line than drawing another line from a single dot on that line. It means if they wanted they could continue on from any point from any of the previous iterations of Star Trek. Personally, I'd like a proper farewell to the TNG cast and it'd be cool to see the Enterprise-E in a TV show.

Darth Data and the Star Destroyer Enterprise attacks the newly populated Tribble home world where the Ewoks now live and ruled by Jar Jar Binks. Music by James Horner, who lifts his score from STII and throws in a couple of times the Star Wars theme, so you will know it is supposed to be a Star Wars movie.

A lot of the old Hollywood actors invested in land in and around the L.A. area and came away multi-millionaires! Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, and D. W. Griffith started United Artists, Guy Williams retired to Argentina, raised thoroughbred horse's, and a lot invested into ocean property, like Malibu, or land that was used to grow orange's at one time...hence Orange County or Bob Hope investing into Palm Springs!

If only we had a time machine and a few hundred thousand dollars! we could be Billionaires by now!!! Vanity! thy name is Hollywood. Yes it's the Stereo Re-recording, and the effects help pull the series into more excepted limits of today's standards. The Enterprise CGI was in keeping of the original look. I don't think they wanted it to look like the say NX-1 texturing, but I thought they should have textured it like the refit. It would have been in keeping with the original concept, I think.

Sure the newer effect in the re-mastered might bring in new viewers/fans, but, why not change the end credits FX shots? Leaving the old FX shots, makes one wonder what is going on, where we know, why they look like they do.

I disagree with with having assteching like on the re-fit. The original look should not have been altered. Everyone that works on the TOS ships, from the re-mastered, DS9 and Enterprise, wanted to update the TOS ships, to fit in with the later shows from STTMP on up. Why? What was done is history, and should be accepted as such. For me, the TOS 1701 should look like in TOS, period! And, the mutilation of the 11 foot model in the Smithsonian, is the worst crime. Sure, more details would look better, but, is not needed, it is just wanted.

The first Starship Enterprise hangs in the National Air and Space Museum’s gift shop. It is 11-feet long.

“But is it 134-inches long or 135-inches long?” Star Trek fans would ask space history curator Margaret Weitekamp. For years, the precise measurement was a raging debate on Trekkie Web forums. The fans needed the exact length of the 11-deck ship so they could be sure their own models were at scale with the original. Finally, Weitekamp broke out the measuring tape.

Matt Jefferies designed the Smithsonian’s Enterprise model on behalf of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry for the failed 1966-1969 television series. Through Star Trek’s various reincarnations for film, television and video games, every Starship Enterprise featured has been some variation on the saucer and cigar shapes of Jefferies’ design. To fans, the original model is considered a “material touchstone of the Trek canon,” Weitekamp says. “It’s a living cultural object.”

The model arrived at the Air and Space Museum in 1974. It came in a box, disassembled and dirty. To the curators, it was nothing more than a prop from a canceled television show that was a nice example of what human space flight might look like. They restored the model and hung it up for display.

As the Trekiverse grew, along with the number of fans, the Smithsonian’s Enterprise became a popular stop in the Air and Space Museum. Weitekamp gets regular complaints from fans and collectors about how the Air and Space Museum displays the the model. They offer money and manpower for what they consider to be a better restoration. She always turns them down. “It’s not broken,” she says.

However, for those that do ask about the model’s length, she has the number cold: 135-inches long.

The SIX CD set (4 TOS, 1 STTMP, 1 STTNG) are done, and I uploaded three of them on Friday at "Mirrorcreator", but I had forgot to login before I did that, so I have no idea where those blasted files went to! So, I will begin tomorrow, when I have more time, and redo the uploads, after I remember to sign into my account. :)

Regarding that photo of the Enterprise 11 footer, that was the HORRIBLE revamp work that was done by "Ed Miarecki" from Springfield Mass. Now, I had known Ed for a LONG time, and I know that there is nothing that ever comes into his hands that he doesn't duplicate, and give back a COPY! He has sold many "original" models, some of which later proved out to be copies! Really nicely done copies, but not the original screen used item! Makes you wonder about this beauty, huh? Ed was not allowed to take the model out of the Smithsonian, so he had requested a compromise:

Since he had apparently already rented a nearby building for the repair work, and had gone to such expense, etc. he was allowed by the Smithsonian to remove just ONE piece at a time, starting with both of the nacelles! After a couple of weeks, he brought back the nacelles, and showed how beautiful they looked, and then they allowed him to remove the primary hull (saucer) section. After another couple of weeks, he returned that as well, and took the secondary hull, and brought it back after another two weeks. Then he reassembled all the sections and helped to display his finished work. One observer was shocked to see that Ed and his crew had totally sanded down the PORT side of the model, puttied up the hole where the original wires went in, and also had painted and detailed that other side. Eric (that was his name) told me that when he ran his hand over the port side of the secondary hull, he could not feel anywhere there might have been an original hole, and he asked Ed about it. Ed became very pissed off, and demanded to know who he was!!(?) He told Ed who he was and since he was a Trek fan, and a professional model man himself, he wanted to know how Ed and his crew had preformed such a feat! Ed just brushed off this question by saying that he does good work, and that was why the Smithsonian had gotten him for this refurb job, since it was a most important model. This was the first clue that something was amiss with this model. I would LOVE to have someone pull that model apart, and check the inside of the saucer to see if it IS the original piece.

Until then, we can only guess......

There was a refurbishment done after the Miarecki screwup, but I found out that they did not take the model apart, and were not allowed to remove the model, but had to do all their work on site! This was done at the insistence of my friend Eric, who would not allow this to happen again, but if he will follow his hunch, and have the model inspected in the future, is only my fondest wish

Okay, checking for a nice photo of the Big-E port side, I found this photo:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cta34573458/6060130484/

As you can see, it is glass smooth on that side, and there is a square placed there, for no good reason. You can see the work of Miarecki on the saucer, so it was taken before the last refurb, however, Eric said that there was detailing done to that side, and I see none! I don't know if he had referred to that square as detailing, I thought that he meant that there was painted detailing, and nice decals on that side. Could have been my misunderstanding of what he said. Either way, it really looks like a completely NEW secondary hull, as opposed to the original. But then I don't like Miarecki at all, so you can judge for yourself.

This was done at the insistence of my friend Eric, who would not allow this to happen again, but if he will follow his hunch, and have the model inspected in the future, is only my fondest wish

Okay, checking for a nice photo of the Big-E port side, I found this photo:

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 filming model | Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/cta34573458/6060130484/)

William

As I understand it, the port side was never shown because of the power cable that ran down the port side dorsal (feeding power to the main saucer section, along with power for the lights on the starboard dorsal) down into the secondary hull (and providing power to that part) where the power cable was ran out of a hole (where the model was supported from, just behind the deflector dish) to a power box. Amanda was kind enough to provide b/w and color pictures of what the model looked like when it was being un-packed at the Smithsonian (this was a year ago I believe) the front caps of the warp engines where missing and most of the internal workings are damaged, in short the model was just a mess! One of the pictures shows the main saucer section (from underneath), and the port and starboard sides looks like someone took a bit out of both sides (maybe dropped? or damaged by shipping?) what ever happened it just about made me cry! the worse part was the addition of grid lines, which if you look at the model pictures, as it is being un-packed there are no grid lines! top or bottom (other then three rings around the planetary senor dome). Some of the pictures also show individual images of each part before (whoever he is) started restoration work! it appears he completely sanded, replaced windows, primered and repainted the whole model (since it is made out of wood). The original color appears to be a light gray, not a sickly green and there is no rust belt around the top of the saucer. It's kind of funny, Howard Anderson built the model with a additional hole on the rear impulse engine housing [in the middle] (which is where it was hung from on certain times for filming and originally placed from where the Smithsonian displayed it at one time, hung it from the ceiling) and to this day almost every model maker has that third hole!

Now I am no engineer by any starch of the imagination! but there is no way a star ship of it's size can be built in one piece! At 288.6 meters in length (946 feet 10 13/64 inches) with a breadth of 127.1 meters (416.995 feet), weighting in at 190,000 metric tonnes (dead-weight) compared to the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) At 1,123 ft (342 m) in length, 257.2 ft (78.4 m) (extreme) Displacement: 93,284 long tons (94,781 metric tonnes) Full Load. Not even the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) was constructed in one piece, but in sections. It's one thing to build a Aircraft Carrier here on earth, but to build something this large in zero gravity and with what space throws at us!! NO WAY! the only way I could ever see a star ship as big as the Enterprise being built would have to be inside some very large space factory where people could be safe from the harsh environment of space! there is no way it could have been built on earth and then lifted into space under it's own power! again not possible! not enough RCS's or powerful enough to lift 190,000 tonnes (burning plasma or not) into orbit. Lets not even get into aerodynamics! she would not fly in an atmosphere! impulse or not. So my friends, I would say the only way our Enterprise could be built would be in some gigantic garage in space.

Well, then, I cannot wait until they have a "Garage sale"! hehehhehehe :)

Sorry to dispute you, my friend, but the 11 foot model was NOT made of wood, but fiberglass, over a wooden frame. The 3 foot was completely made of wood, that's why it swelled up and became waterlogged when "Rod" (Gene Jr.) tossed it in the pool! The whole top of the saucer could be unscrewed and lifted off, to replace the lights that they had inside, to light the windows, couldn't do that in solid wood, ya know?

The Nacelle pylons were actually 2 X 4s with a plastic coating, which was sheet plastic that was heated up and laid over the 2X4s and all the detailing was scribed into that plastic!

Just a couple of trivia points.

That is quite true William! but is still very evident that fiberglass is over the wood. It would appear that the model was loaned out after the series came to an end and was not treated very well and Paramount did not take very good care of it when it was returned, which is evident when you see the condition of the model when the Smithsonian got it. Either way, she has been treated very badly and then to have someone (I guess a fan), strip her down and then give her the most godawful paint job!! He should have been shot for what he did to her. From what the pictures have shown, the hole in the port side appears as if someone punched a hole in her side to get to a power plug! [which you can see very clearly] hanging out the port side engineering section! so that would account for the quad patch, I guess? but no excuse would be sufficient for the terrible restoration job on such a beloved ship! Personally, I think any of us here could have done a much better job restoring her to her original condition then the ones that screwed her up permanently! as I understand it the Smithsonian has no intention of doing any more work on her! and I can understand the reasons why, but it is still a shame to leave her like she is.

At 82 years old, what gives Shatner any idea that a man his age would still have all of his hair and just a small bit of gray in it? his ego must be enormous!!! At 77 Walter Koenig is finely showing his semi bald head, which is fine with me, but Shatner going all these years as if he is going to live ageless forever is just fooling himself....sad! Personally I enjoy my gray hair and yes it is very thin on top, but I don't care! it is who I am! which is more then I can say for Shatner.

Nice photo AZ :)

Couldn't agree more - there are millions of Star Trek fans out there who are pro modelmakers who would be able to restore her to something resembling how she (mostly) appeared onscreen in her heyday. I think it's a terrific shame that the Smithsonian don't fully appreciate the iconic status of this historic filming miniature. One time i went there and she was shoved downstairs in the toy section of the shop! This model fired up so many imaginations across the world, kids who went on to have careers in science and development. She's a symbol of all that hope and desire for human exploration.

It's really sad that so many people put so much time, effort and money into restoring the Galileo (which was in far worse shape then the Enterprise model) and our own tax supported US Government Smithsonian can't even get such a beloved model restored like the Shuttlecraft!!

Well, chances are that "east coast Eddie" possibly dropped the "Big E" down a well for a couple of decades, and will only bring it out in the future, when he needs some bucks for his retirement. Either that, or he already sold it, and it's on display in a private Iran trekkie's house, in a display case, with armed guards that we will have to shoot it out with, just to get our beautiful model back on US soil.

Same thing happened with the original Aston Martin DB5 from "Goldfinger"! It was stolen from an airport storage facility in Florida, by someone who didn't know it was there, since they hit several other lockers in the same row, and then stopped with the Aston Martin. It was fully loaded with all the extras, and disappeared, never to be seen again. Chances are that it's being held by a private owner overseas!

With John Kerry? the man can not walk and chew gum at the same time. His promotion is nothing but a pay back for all his political backing of obummer and now he is trying to score a big treaty with Iran as a final curtain call to his political career. In the end he will fall flat on his face! And we, the free world well pay the price for his last hoorah and stupidity. You can not negotiate with terrorists! the only thing they understand is raw unadulterated power and death. I know that sounds pretty harsh! but that is the truth, when you are dealing with a group of people that love death and see that as a way to get to paradise (as they believe) [World War II Japan is a prime example of a society that loved death over life, and what we had to do to get them to surrender] your only option is to send them on their way as fast as you can.

Sounds great William! just one problem, nukes won't cook-off with conventional explosives, all you're going to get is highly radioactive uranium fragments scattered all over an area of a few hundred feet. Iran has really no idea what it means to make a thermonuclear warhead! they think it is some toy for threatening other country's! it's much more then that! the security involved in keeping them secure and safe is one thing, but the radioactive waste or byproduct is a fraking nightmare!! and wont go away with a simple wash of soap and water! we are talking about waste that well last for hundred of thousands of years! not just spilled fluid! whatever it comes into contact with becomes highly radioactive and has to be cut up into small pieces, put into special barrels that won't leak and are radiation proof and then buried somewhere that will not contaminate the ground and ground water for thousands of years. Look at three mile island! Reactor unit 2 (a partial meltdown) in 1979, cleanup started in August 1979, and officially ended in December 1993, with a total cleanup cost of about $1 billion. Not until 1993 was Post-Defueling completed and unit 2 was put into long-term, monitored storage until the operating license for the TMI-1 plant expires at which time both plants will be decommissioned. Unit 1 reactor may operate until April 19, 2034. Every piece of unit 2 was cut up [building, reactor vessel, concrete floors, piping...everything] and all materials used in the clean-up was placed into special containers and shipped to a DOE site to sit for untold years and hoping none of it leaks or contaminates the ground, water or air. A nuclear warhead is made out of metal (how it is done is classified) [so it can be shaped into a sphere] but starts out as a powder (yellow cake) then made into a gas, all the machines used to turn this powder into gas are now radioactive and will have to be deposed of safely and replaced and on and on it goes until you have enough gas to be turned into a metal, then a whole different process begins and contaminates all the machines used to turn a gas into a metal and it all has to be disposed of, then start all over again, then the metal is milled into a sphere and all the machines become radioactive and then they have to be disposed of and on it goes! Sooner rather then later they will have an accident! radiation will be released and the whole plant will have to be deposed of and no way to do it or handle it and this does not even count the thousand's of humans that will die...remember Chernobyl!! enough said...sorry I went on way to far.

Yes, Mr. Scott, I know how a nuke works. As a matter of fact, when I was in school, a young man here in the states actually found all the documents to build a thermonuclear device, except that he didn't have any explosives in it, and no plutonium either, but he set it up as a science project, and was arrested by the FBI, who let him off, as long as he told them where he got all the documents, so they could go and restrict access to them. This was the basis for the movie "the Manhattan project" with John Litgow!

Also, when I was younger, my neighbor had a shirt that said "If the opposite of PRO is CON, then the opposite of PROGRESS is CONGRESS"!!! :)

I never forgot that, and always will feel that is true. Congress is opposed to progress, to be sure.

I remember seeing the news report on that! and wondering the same thing the FBI was asking! if I remember right he got all the documents from a local college library (LA area)?

As for progress, it depends on what you are trying to progress? Progress as in the Federal Government taking care of people from cradle to grave? Telling companies how to run there own business? What TV's or Car's we have to buy, the list goes on and on! Our Governments job (according to our Constitution) is to protect the Country, Enforce or Prosecute the law's (Written by Congress Only!), regulate commerce between the states and run the Post Office (which is Billions in the hole btw) and that's it! everything else belongs to the States and us the people (See Tenth Amendment). If you or anyone else can find anything other then these in the Constitution then please tell me the Article Number and Section so I can have my own copy of the Constitution updated. I for one, firmly believe the less I see or hear of the Government the better off we all are.

I don't wish to be mean spirited about all this! you are a good friend William and I would like to keep it that way, but what happened to individuality? each person taking care of and responsible for his or her own life and family? I know William you take very good care of your family (and I know you are very proud of that...and you have every right to be proud! And anyone else that does should be to) and I have and continue to do the same with mine, we are both responsible for our own life's and family (the only time that ends is when we are dead) but where does it say I or We have to take care of everybody else's life's? My family comes first above anyone else! And anyone! that try's to tell me other wise is going to get a very hard kick in the ass or worse. Now, if I (or you) want to help someone out that is my choice! and choice is the key word here! don't try and force me into it, because I will push back very hard and they wont like it one bit. Don't get me wrong, if a neighbor of mine is in need of help, I will help! even if it means my own life or a child is in danger, you can bet I'll protect that child with my life in a heartbeat!! Call me selfish? but I will answer personally (we all will) for my own family's well being from a much Higher Authority then anyone on this rock! and I would rather have a good report from Him then anyone else here.

Scott, are you alright? You sure are real quiet.:)

With the 1701 Bridge model out, a Brass Photo Etched set is coming out with various add on parts for more details, only $29.95. Model building is enjoyable, but expensive with the after market parts like PE, decals, light and sound kits. I do like the choices, not the cost.:(

WHERE did you see brass etched pieces for the TOS bridge model??? BTW, I do have the clear transparent bridge pieces that I got for the OLD AMT TOS bridge set. So, if this new model is in the same scale, you can just PM me, and I'll send you a HQ copy of my scan, and you can add lighted panels to your model, fairly easily! :)

EDIT: Never mind, I just found the brass pieces at "Monstersinmotion.com"! :)

VERY nice, I might add.

Started watching the Enterprise series again, first time in good visual quality and must say this is a cool show.
Two mistakes though: The whole temporal cold war and Xindi Race plot line is boring and dumb and Captain Archer early in the show is shown far to often in his quaters. A Captain belongs on the bridge and the audience needs him to be there to associate him with command and being the shows "anchorman" not just being a Beagle hugger.

Oh and what an awesome actor the Tucker guy is!

Really? Cool! I've always wanted a model of the Galileo that fixes the rear of the ship and sorts the curves on top. That the AMT corporation built the original prop and then did the most inaccurate kit imaginable was always a source of bafflement to me. It's not like it's a particularly complicated design, after all.

Who is doing the kit - is it Round 2?

I've been rewatching bits again too - season 4 particularly where it really begins to find its legs and stops trying to be TNG-lite. If you can get beyond the flawed premise, it has a great crew and some rewarding episodes, for sure. Certainly I enjoy it more than Voyager.

I agree about Enterprise having a great crew and some rewarding episodes. I think if Berman had the look of the show more like before TOS, and following the canon set down in TOS, it would have been a hit with us http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/lloyd2/old.gif guys and gals. It is a shame to have happen that way, I like the show, now.

Yeah. If they had made it look more 'retro' and begun with the sort of thing they did in season 4, it might've lasted a full seven seasons, too. But, a few years distant, on revisiting, I'm finding more good stuff there than not.

I'll check out Round 2 on the Galileo news - thanks!

DUDE, send the all to me, I'll build them! Heheehhehehehe

Just try to get them BACK, however! :)

I had SOOOO many fan made "garage kits" in the past, including a VERY nice STTMP transport vessel (the one that Kirk and Scotty went over to the Enterprise at the first of the movie), but they were burned up when my storage unit caught on fire. :( Now I wish that I had built and detailed them, totally lighted and displayed, then I would still have them. So many model kits from AMT and Polar Lights, the BIG "Lost in Space" Jupiter 2 ship with interior kit and special decal sheet, and a 6 foot STTMP Enterprise refit ship made of fiberglass, that a fan down in Texas had created and sold a couple of dozen times before the studio suits caught up with him and closed him down! EEEEERRRRRRRR!
You know, if the damned studios are not going to license a legit model company to release a big model like that, and have no intentions of letting anyone else do it, why don't they just leave the fans ALONE?

There was a fellow that I had known, here in CA, that made a very nice model kit of the TOS phaser. He was learning how to make molds, and one project of his class was how to create one of the metal molds, like AMT or one of those companies. He decided to do a phaser kit model, like AMT would have done, if they got it right. He produced a couple of hundred kits, paying the teacher for the raw materials, and had some gray phaser tips, but also made some nice chrome phaser tips as well.

About a year later, two suits from the studio showed up at his door, and demanded to grab any kits he had, along with the metal molds. He informed them that the metal mold was the property of the school, and was melted back down, and showed them about 25-30 kits in ziplock bags, stating that was all he had. They took the kits, served him with a "Cease and Desist" notice, and said that if he violated any copyright material again, they would take away his house, and garnish his wages for all time. I told him that they were just trying to scare him, but he told me that it worked, he was SCARED! He was a great model maker, but never did anything like that ever again. So sad. :(

I really HATE bullies.

This is what happens when people do not know there rights! your friend should have slammed the door in their face and called the cops to report "Criminal Threats" (PC 422) where made against him and sue the studio. I do know that there are a few people in your area William that make and sell garage kits of the Enterprise (SNG) (and several other popular shows and movies) for several thousand dollars (which is ridiculous and just plain highway robbery) how they get away with it, I don't know...unless the studio's just don't know or maybe it has to do with quantity? you can sell 5 or 10, but then they get there tits in a twist if you sell...say 100! then they call the legal department and send the suits to intimidate the crap right out of someone.

I gave up building those model kits several years ago (don't get me wrong I loved it and it was so relaxing to spend hours building, detailing and painting them) but I just could not endure the crappy why AMT and the others made them! so damn small, and just cheaply made! so I gave it up, plus I just ran out of room to display them all, and what a pain in the butt to dust. What I want is studio film grade model's! hundred's of thousand's of dollars worth!!! and I'd need a medium sized warehouse to hold them all. :) not enough time to enjoy them...oh well, a nice dream.

Well, Scotty, to answer your question about people making all sorts of stuff, without a copyright, YES, I have noticed that every since VIACOM was kicked out of control of TREK (although their name is still on every TREK movie????) CBS has been a little more relaxed about beating up on the fans, and people who create garage kits and stuff like that.

There was a fellow that I saw at the conventions all the time, who had just about EVERYTHING with Starfleet logos on them, such as checkbooks and shirts and sweaters, just about everything he had, was obviously NOT legal. He was from Florida, and was a professional convention businessman, and always had a ton of people around his tables, which were about 6 or 8 tables everytime I saw him. But then the studios clamped down on things like that, and he (and several others) disappeared. I remember a fellow named Jeff Siliphant from "Still Things", which carried a bunch of TREK related photos, many of which were outtakes and blooper shots, and NOBODY else had them. The studio sent people over to the convention, and then later to his store (this was at a "Creation" con) and grabbed every photo from TREK that he had. He was sued by the studio and they demanded that he turn his negatives over to them! When I had heard about this, I called him up at home, and told him to meet me at a restaurant in the valley, where I offered to RESHOOT all of his TREK photos into negs, and he could turn THOSE over to the blasted studio! I saw that the studio was also hammering websites, who were posting pictures from TREK that they had not authorized, shutting down the websites (FAN websites) for copyright violations! Jeff refused to take me up on my offer, since he thought that I was a studio spy and trying to get him into trouble, some sort of trap! He turned over his negs, and stopped selling any TREK photos, which was a complete shame.

I remember that the actor, Roddy McDowell had a very large collection of his own 35MM films, which he would drag out at parties, and have a film showing for his friends. The studio (I think it was MGM) came out with the cops and feds, took all of his films away and DESTROYED them! I saw a news report about 2 or 3 years later, that MGM had to go to a PRIVATE collector, and get his copy of "Forbidden Planet", since they were going to transfer the film to VHS video, and when they opened the vault, the master negs were covered with a green gel, and totally ruined. A film fan down in Texas had a mint copy, but some of the color tones had turned red, which can be corrected, so they actually BOUGHT his copy of the film, and that is what we have today! STUPID BASTARDS!!!

I HATE HATE HATE bullies!!!!! :(

It's not even the MPAA, it's whatever company held the rights to distribute Star Trek media (CBS/Prarmount). Dunno about CBS given they were once Viacom, but Paramount are in fact dicks. Prolly 'cos they're a subsidiary of Viacom.

I remember seeing at shows Floppy Discs of many Star Trek related stuff, and other cool stuff, then....gone, just like you said.

Selling stuff is one thing, but having a web site about a show, what is the big deal, or so I though. I found a site about the Radio Series ALIEN WORLDS, with more info than I knew about. Then, Lee Hansen or the Company running it, wanted to create a site, mainly to sell the series on CD and Downloads. The UNOFFICIAL site was killed off, and the new one came up. The new one's info section SUCKED compared to the old. It was a shame to not have the old one to compliment the new, by showing and referring to the new site.

Just like Warner's attacking Harry Potter sites, just because the movie was coming out. BASTARDS!

None of that surprise's me any more! I remember (when I was a young man) going to one of the convention's in San Diego (1977) and seeing the whole convention floor covered with Trek booths, selling everything imaginable!! even home made prop's, paintings, and prints. Now a days I'm sure it is nothing but licensed only merchandise! I understand the studios side of the issue (MONEY) but to cut off the fans creative talent's and free enterprise rights on a TV show that is almost 50 years old is just plan wrong!

I was involved in a raid years ago, here where I live (which is in the middle of Agriculture country of the State) and it turned out several guys where making illegal copies of (Studio Movies) VHS tapes and selling them for $5.00 a tape. You would have thought these guys were making and selling crack cocaine! or some Meth Lab!! we had FBI agents, Secrete Service agents, City PD, hell we even had are own (County) SWAT Team there...All for two guys making copies of VHS tapes! it was funny watching these guys wearing Tactical Gear like we were storming a fortified building! all for a few thousand tapes. This little operation costs the tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars and tied up law enforcement agency's for hours! it was enough time, that it took us two full days to clear our own back log of calls! Unreal!! in the end these two guys ended up getting 10 years in state prison (at tax payers expense) and all we got was a nice letter in our jackets (personal files) and a pat on the back! Management got TV exposure (local News) and made this out like it was a huge operation! stealing several million dollars a month from multi-billion dollar companies!! What a joke! That was the last time I volunteered for any raids, other then drug raids....

I would have thought MGM had more brains then that! The question is "Where did Mr. McDowell get those prints?" the answer is from MGM it's self! Maybe from the Director or Mr. Mayer himself! and when he was given those prints he was never given a letter from the studio, saying he had the right to posses those prints! All this was before the Digital Millennium Rights Act. It is not against the copy right law to show a film for private use, as long as you are not making any money off the showing! hell they even do that for the President of The United States! it's not like he can just go out to any movie theater any time he wants too...I bet you half the White House is in the room with him, along with there kids and wife's. I sure hope Mr. McDowell sued the studio and cops for that crap! I know I would have.

You know William, half of what Law Enforcement or major companies get a way with is just plan Bullying other people! Scaring the living shit out of the uneducated masses! This is the unvarnished truth! because I used the same tactics on those same uneducated people! There is nothing worse for a cop or lawyer then a person that knows his or her rights and what a cop can and cannot do, same goes for a lawyer! If any Law Enforcement Officer reads you your Miranda Rights then you are "Officially Under Arrest"! Listen to your rights and exercise them! 1: Remain Silent 2: Ask for your Lawyer (rather you have one or not, it goes with Number 4 [If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you before any questioning, if you wish.] 3: re-read 1,2 3 and 4) make damn sure you "Remain Silent" because anything you say well be used against you! Guaranteed 100 percent. All these points will piss off any Law Enforcement Officer, so don't be surprised if they get mad at you! or try and plead with you about doing the right thing! Remember all these, rather you did something wrong or not, that is for your lawyer to figure out! These also work for Studio Suites (I capitalized these for a very good reason! "SS" if you don't know who they were google it) that my show up at your door.

Hi guys, i don't wanna buy the Star Trek (Movie) Blu Rays because they have comments from the screenwriters of JJ Abrams abomination (and why they fuck have THEM comment on those, they didn't even create the stuff!).
Do you know of any other Blu Ray Editions, even if no longer available?

Yes, Scotty, I am reupping EVERYTHING, including my underwear! Hehehehehehe :)

Yes, I have also seen those types of "raids" on the small guy, making VHS and DVD copies of movies, with young Mexican kids selling them on street corners in Hollywood for 5.00 each, it boggles the imagination. If the studios would just bring out the DVD once the film leaves the theatres, like the SAME WEEK, it would cut down on a whole bunch of pirated vids, to be sure. But they still wait for months, just to get all the advanced press for the movie that they can, so they get MORE MONEY on sales! And, money is the bottom line with this life. There is so much GREED, and corruption going on, and we are all slaving each and every day, just to keep the power elite in megabucks, with their mansions and massive collection of cars, and plenty of food on the table.

FACT: the majority of America operates yearly on LESS than $16,000.00 take home pay. And the federal government just came up with a new "poverty" line, anything under 23,000 per year. Which means that most of America is living in poverty!!!!

FACT: in 2007, the America government stated that there were reportedly 3 million homeless in the states! That's 1 percent of the population! However, that's only the REPORT figure. The actual figure, according to many companies that help the homeless state that figure could be 3 or 4 times as great, since so many homeless are living off of recycling and panhandling, and not reported in any way!

It is a sad state of affairs for Americans, I can tell you. This is NOT the America that I fought in Vietnam for, that is sure!

NOW, that the VENTING is done, hehehehehe, I want to share a TREK story with you, to get things back on track, so nobody will yell at us, and claim never wanting to come back to this thread again, hehehehehe.

I just spoke with my friend "Ed" last night, who was an assistant to Gene and Majel, and was on the set during most of the STTNG filming. One day, he and another assistant named "Agusto" were bored, while filming was going on, on another part of the set, so they decided to go over and play around on the engineering set. Most of the lights were out, and so there was little to play around with, so they both decided to move over to another part of the set. When leaving, Ed noticed that one of doors was ajar, and he knew that it should have remained closed, and so he looked around for a way to close it. Normally, there was a rope on either side of the door, that a grip or someone would pull on cue, and open the door for the actor to walk thru (Hey, you've seen the bloopers!) Try as hard as he could, he just could not find any way to close this door, and so he just left it alone. While on another part of the set, he and Agusto were farting around, and decided that they would go over to the bridge set, which was located on another sound stage, so they started to walk out. From behind, they heard talking, coming towards them, so they ducked behind the fake wall of the set, and waited for the two men to pass. Looking on the inside of the wall, Ed finally found the rope to pull, to close that door! He pulled it slowly, with an effort, and slowly felt the door give way, and start to slide closed.
All of a sudden, a loud male voice yelled out "CUT!! God-damnit, whose fucking around with the doors?"!!!! Ed then realized that he was pulling the rope that controlled the engineering "warp breech containment wall", and it happened right in the middle of filming!!!! Needless to say, Ed and Agusto beat a hasty path over to Stage 9, and were sitting on the bridge when Majel walked over, looking for them! :)

Funny story.

Fact: When they (Government) lowers (which is backwards, and normal for Government) the poverty level we can except to have our taxes raised!

Fact: About 70 percent of the homeless want to be where they are at. The County I live in has there main health department building on our downtown mall, which to say the lest is a royal pain in the butt, we had a older gentlemen that used to come into the building to use the restrooms (which sounds normal) but he liked to use it for his own personal bathroom (shower in the sink) and used to leave a mess of water and paper towels everywhere! which could be dangerous for other people. So they would call us and we would have to walk him out of the building and tell him not to come back...you see he was homeless and used to eat out of the garbage cans behind the building and the others on the mall. After getting calls from them for several weeks, I decided to have a real conversation with him! His name was Ivan, I seat and talked with him for 20 to 30 minutes and come to find out he was a retired Major (US Army) with 20 years of service! I was floored when he told me, but come to find out Ivan wanted to be on the streets! He liked it!! this guy was paid every month, had Tri-Care (Military Heath Insurance), a house, car, everything any normal person had, but he just liked to be on the streets, eating out of trash cans, asking for money (even thou he did not need it) or to use a County building as his personal bathroom. One of the other Deputy's I worked with (when of my good friends, I was his best man at his wedding) has a younger brother that was in state prison (everyone screws up) he got parole and was released and moved in with his brother! (which is against department regulations and a really big NO NO) anyway, he had a very hard time finding a job (there are only a few company's that well help an ex-con) so he started leaving like he was going to work every morning and Greg (which is the Deputy name) was over joyed that his brother was starting to straighten his life up! or at lest that's what we thought! come to find out he had made a sign up about being homeless and was sitting on a corner, getting money from passing cars! damn if he did not make good money off that, but that was the last straw for Greg and had to kick him out of his house (you see our local PD starting moving him out of the center divider[for his safety and others] and ran his name) of course his brother got word about that and had to act or lose his job! all this just broke Greg's heart! to throw his little brother out with no were to go, but good old Steve (that's his real name) moved in with one of his sister in-laws sisters (go figure!)The last I heard Steve was back in Prison.

My hope and prayer is not to see your underwear on the re-up load list or a load in them at all ;)

Thank You for the re-up loads William!

Yeah if I had worked at Desilu I would have been walking all over those sets too! and been fired in one day.

Hi. I just got my copy this morning. LaLaLand has done a great job in remastering this beautiful. All the blaster effects have a powerful feel to them compared to all the other ST TMP soundtracks that I heard.

Here are some links to the Flac copy of the soundtrack. I have no plans to re-upload the files in the event that they are pulled, so grab them while you can.

Conceder this an incentive to buy the soundtrack if you enjoy it.

Hi,
I'm new here and came across this site while searching for this soundtrack. Could someone please repost the 3 disc Motion Picture LaLa Land release? Thank you very much!

I recently posted a custom cover for The Ron Jones project. In that post I mentioned that I modified a cover art I found elsewhere but didn't know the original creator. I believe I can now state (and give appropriate credit to) a chap named Robert Oliver, who has a number of alternate cover offerings available in his public Skydrive folder (https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=9E3D126A243CC676&id=9E3D126A243CC676!3266#cid=9E3D126A243CC676&id=9E3D126A243CC676!1716). Thanks Robert. Now, if you'd only post the original PSD and font files you used in creating the original of the file I commandeered.

Some very nice covers, I just don't like any of the DS9 covers, nor the originals. He should have tried something totally new and cutting edge on the graphics. Same with the Voyager and Enterprise covers. But the TOS stuff was really great.

Love, love, LOVE Rob Oliver's covers, Alaska! Been using his TOS ones ever since last year's TOS LalaLand release. Would love to see what he does with a shiny new ST: Nemesis cover. ;)

Veri!

Veri!Yes, he has some nice ones, but I also agree with William that I don't care for all of his designs. But tastes vary, which it's nice to have options.

STAR TREK NEMESIS: The Deluxe Edition
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed and Conducted by Jerry Goldsmith
2 CDs

It was, sadly, one of Jerry Goldsmith’s last film scores. Only Timeline and Looney Tunes: Back In Action (both 2003) would follow it. In 2002 Jerry Goldsmith took his final voyage on the fabled USS Enterprise and gave Star Trek Nemesis and the whole Next Generation crew an epic send-off.

This is the release so many Star Trek fans have been waiting for. Goldsmith’s complete score from Star Trek Nemesis is presented, along with a set of bonus tracks that includes source music, a set of alternate cues and mixes, plus a rare opportunity to listen in to the final moments of Jerry Goldsmith on the Star Trek scoring stage with his orchestra and director Stuart Baird.

In the wake of a joyful wedding between Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Troi (Marina Sirtis), Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) receives another reason to celebrate: the Romulans want peace and the captain will be the Federation's emissary. But as the Enterprise heads toward the Romulan Empire, a brilliant villain awaits — harboring a diabolical plan of destruction and an unimaginable secret that will give Picard his most fearsome challenge.

We’re very excited to mark the return of the Varse Sarabande CD Club with this historic and important Jerry Goldsmith release.

CDs will begin shipping the week of January 6.

Lessons learned, Varese? I love the fact it looks like we're going to be getting everything with Nemesis. I hope they treat STID like this, and I lament that they haven't given some other popular scores to this treatment (I'm thinking 2009 and The Matrix).

I'm confused, STTMP was not FSM?

STTMP = LaLaLand Records LLLCD 1207 (2012, 3 CD Box, Limited Edition)

ST2 (Wrath of Khan) special edition = Retrograde/FSM Records FSM-80128-2 (2009), NOT LaLaLand, therefore "link removed"

BTW, nice try, William! :)

Sorry to ask another stupid question (Hey, I think it's my first one in THIS particular thread! :-D), but does anyone have active links to the TAS music & SFX that was posted a couple of years back? I recently had a data disaster and lost ALL of my soundtracks from my backups, and I'm slowly rebuilding my collection. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Cheers,
Kevin

I know how you feel Kevin! my NAS (with 2 3 terabit HD's) went up in smoke (literally) and took over 4 thousand albums with it. I would check page one (in this thread) William was kind enough to re-up a boat load of his personal soundtracks. I hope you find what your looking for.

BTW it's not a stupid question.

Agreed: his "ship" covers for the 15-disc TOS box are awesome: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=9E3D126A243CC676&id=9E3D126A243CC676%211716#cid=9E3D126A243CC676&id=9E3D126A243CC676%213356

Sorry about that, Chief! I was not trying to pull anything over on anyone!

I too, have join the CRASH AND BURN CLUB with the loss of my Hard Drive and .......everything.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/lloyd2/tears8.gif

I have been trying to replace some of the soundtracks, but, with my http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/lloyd2/thunhappy.gif Dial-up, I have only made it to around 95% then http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/lloyd2/jawdrop.gif it stopped. I will keep trying.

As for my quest for DSL, I was told no slots in my area, but, I will keep calling, just in case.

Still moving a bit slow but should anyone wanna talk about a Pristine version of Khan in it's natural state, I might be able to manage that conversation.
