Oh, how SPLENDID!! Are you really challenging me to a duel? Why, this is better than I'd planned! I shall not shirk an affair of honor! :)

I'll be The Squire Second! It would be an Honor! if you so desire my friend :)

"and my the best man..err being win!"..."The first to draw blood, or whatever you call the fluid that runs in your veins, I'll buy the first drink! :)

;)

Long ago, when sailing ships ruled the sea, this captain and his crew were always in danger of being boarded by pirates from a pirate ship.

One day while they were sailing, they saw that a pirate ship had sent a boarding party to try and board their ship. The crew became worried, but the Captain was calm.

He bellowed to his First Mate, "Bring me my red shirt!"

The First Mate quickly got the Captain's red shirt, which the captain put on. Then he led his crew into battle against the mean pirates. Although there were some casualties among the crew, the pirates were defeated.

Later that day, the lookout screamed that there were two pirate vessels sending two boarding parties towards their ship. The crew was nervous, but the Captain, calm as ever, bellowed, "Bring me my red shirt!" And once again the battle was on!

The Captain and his crew fought off the boarding parties, though this time more casualties occurred.

Weary from the battles, the men sat around on deck that night recounting the day's events when an ensign looked at the Captain and asked, "Sir, why did you call for your red shirt before the battle?"

The Captain, giving the ensign a look that only a captain can give, explained, "If I am wounded in battle, the red shirt does not show the blood, so you men will continue to fight unafraid." The men sat in silence. They were amazed at the courage of such a man.

As dawn came the next morning, the lookout screamed that there were pirate ships, 10 of them, all with boarding parties on their way. The men became silent and looked to the Captain, their leader, for his usual command.

The Captain, calm as ever, bellowed, 'Bring me my brown pants!!!'

Delayed report.
The whole bridge crew are the unwilling guests of the creature who calls himself Trelane. We are weaponless, powerless, and our only hope of escape with the Enterprise lies in playing his games. I've decided to make my move with the field of honour game, and everything depends on my one chance with the ancient duelling pistol.

Again True S3 Of Ent Was Its Worst. I Did Like 4 With Its Short Stories [Mini Arks] However I Donno Why But I Will Always Lean To TNG As My Fav Maybe Its Because Thats When Me And My Dad Always Sat To Watch TNG He Died After S7 Finished And It Just Never Felt The Same Again Don't Get Me Wrong I Love All ST Just Not As Much As TNG.

The chemistry of TNG is just awesome, they really make you feel like family :) Riker adds a lot to that.

Riker is a good family guy he and picard hold the crew together well with data like the child learning how to adapt to human learning. I was pleased that wes left aswell.

You've hit on something. I don't have any qualms with anyone who likes Commander Riker, or the TNG crew, but a family man he was not. He flirted and plowed his way through legions of women and alien females and only became a newlywed in Nemesis. No kids were in the picture. Unless you count the lonely alien youngster who planted the idea in his mind. But still, TNG worked and became a model for the subsequent ST series. Enterprise departed from this model and wasn't as popular, hence the limited (and excruciating) run.

Sustaining morale isn't a familiar issue. However, I take your point. Riker's 2nd Officer duties regarding morale were no better showcased than in the episodes where Captain Jellico's "Get it done" catchphrase became unbearable. Regarding Enterprise season 4 - you're stating the obvious. I'll admit things did start to look up.

Carmine (IPA: /ˈkɑrmaɪn, -mɪn, -miːn/), also called Crimson Lake, Cochineal, Natural Red 4, C.I. 75470 or E120, is a pigment of a bright red color obtained from the carminic acid produced by some scale insects, such as the cochineal and the Polish cochineal, and is used for a particularly deep red color.

Neither could I, because I kept being captivated by the presence of Lt. Uhura, who still had the melting eyes of the queen of Sheba, the same lovely colouring, and who played the cembalo like a goddess, and also by the lovely Yeoman Ross, who had that face that launched a thousand ships and burnt the topless towers of Ilium, the face of the fair Helen, who has yet to make me immortal with a kiss. Hey! That was one of the episodes that I actually worked on! We had that fiberglass piece in the shop for about two weeks, getting it all weathered and beaten! :D And, I have to tell you, those scorch marks were done with a torch, and if you have ever smelled burned fiberglass, NOTHING really stinks like that. It was a pain getting that smell out of the shop, hehehehehe :D

Also, if you have never been "Follically challenged" like I am, you cannot know what it feels like to be bald, just about the biggest prejudice there is! People judge bald people even more harsh than dark skin, or cultural background, or even financial or sexual status! Women look at my head, and think that if I have no hair it is either inherited, or perhaps I had a really bad illness, and all my hair fell out. Either way, they don't want to have children with anyone that has damaged DNA like that, or possibly pass on an inherited illness to her children. The only women that a bald man can have a relationship with is overweight, homely looking women. If you are halfway cute, with a fit body, you want a man younger than yourself, who is really "Macho", with plenty of money to keep you in the lifestyle that you had been dreaming of. And it would be best if any bald man, with a buff body would just go find some fat girl to chase after. I know full well, I've been down that road many times, trying to impress the cute girl into liking me, only to get my heart stomped on. Always winding up with the fat, homely girl, and getting depressed over my lack of hair. I wish I could say that it is only MY perception, but it is the WORLD'S perception. I have been on dates, where the girl's eyesight constantly drifts up to my forehead, and I have to say to her "Hey! my eyes are DOWN here"!

And, as I said, even with all his money, you can still tell that Elton wears a rug! So did Loren Green, Librace, Charlton Heston, Burt Reynolds, William Shatner (Of course), Chuck Norris (WHAT????), Ted Danson, Phil Spector (He could NOT wear it in prison!), Sinatra, John Wayne, and Bogart, Bing and Sean Connerly, Ben Afflick (wears a small piece in the back) Nicolas Cage (also a small piece), and many, MANY more famous people, including FEMALE stars like Dolly Parton!!!

So, all in all, there are many people out there that are bald, 4 out of every 10 men in America go bald by age 60, (I went when I was 21) and 1 out of 10 WOMEN by the age of 60!!!

It's all just a fact of life! (Life, don't talk to me about LIFE! )(Marvin, the paranoid android from Hitchhikers guide)

It's all just a fact of life! (Life, don't talk to me about LIFE! )(Marvin, the paranoid android from Hitchhikers guide)

Just enjoy life, and hang the sense of all the bullshit! :D

Greg

Hold on Greg.....aren't you married. I hope you aren't saying your wife is large and homely :O I had a friend who went bald around 21-22. Come to think of it, he's single now, but then he was a bit of a twonk ;)

[/COLOR]Star Trek Quote of the Day:

"You judge yourselves against the pitiful adversaries you have encountered so far. The Romulans, the Klingons. They are nothing compared to what's waiting. Picard, you are about to move into areas of the galaxy containing wonders more incredible than you can possibly imagine, and terrors to freeze your soul. I offer myself as guide only to be rejected out of hand."

Source: Ep. 2x16 "Q Who?" - Q warns the crew about the dangers they are about to face - the Borg.

Later on, after a bloody first encounter with the Borg, Picard and Q have this final exchange:

"PICARD: I understand what you've done here, Q, but I think the lesson could have been learned without the loss of eighteen members of my crew.
Q: If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross, but it's not for the timid."

That's a classic! :)

The only women that a bald man can have a relationship with is overweight, homely looking women. If you are halfway cute, with a fit body, you want a man younger than yourself,

Quite possibly the most offensive, sexist thing you have ever posted, and that is saying a hell of a lot. It is not your looks, it's your dumbass attitude that sucks.

@Greg

now that sounds sad indeed.

And, of course, for the record, I disagree, surprise.
Not doubting your experiences, just the generalisations.
Although i understand how they developed.

beauty IS in the eyes of the beholder.

you might have chosen sexy girls, at least you found them sexy, but still we follow a pattern, you seem to have chosen those who will not like you.
Sadly lots of people do...
And it is difficult the change a pattern.
It is not the pen, it is how you write with it... ;)

So, do you want us to name the episode/movie, like with your screencaps? :)

Anyway, this is a "conversation" started by Gillian Taylor (Earth, about 1986), joined by Mr. Spock and followed by Captain Kirk (who doesn't come from Outer Space - he comes from Iowa, he just works in Outer Space!).

It's "I expect both you sinners to be in attendance" ;)

This, again, is from "Fair Haven":

Tom Paris: Harry hasn't seen Sullivan's yet. D'you care to join us?

The Doctor: [in the role of the priest in Fair Haven] Don't mind if I do. I'll need to leave no later than 1300 hours.

Tom Paris: Medical emergency?

The Doctor: Not exactly. I'm working on my homily for Sunday's mass. And I expect both you sinners to be in attendance.

[he enters the pub]

Tom Paris: He's kidding, right?

Harry Kim: You wanted authenticity.

Singing in the sunshine, laughing in the rain.
Hitting on the moonshine, rocking in the brain.
Got no time to pack my bag, my foots outside the door.
Got a date, can't be late for the high hopes hailla ball.

Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean's roar.
Play for free, play for me and play a whole lot more.
Singing about the good things and the sun that lights the day.
I used to sing on the mountains, has the ocean lost its way.

Greg your not the only one that suffers from the lose of covering on the crown! my hair (or the lack there of) has done two things in my life...Gone Gray and fallen out (on the top, so far anyway)!

I have a few pet peeves, one is a phony person, someone that has to cover his crown with a rug or anyone that dyes there (men or women) hair to cover there gray! personally I enjoy my gray hair, for me it is part of the battle scares of my life and lets the world see that "I Survived" (so far away) what it has thrown at me and have become wiser for it. As for the MIA of my hair, I blame my ex-wife's! and if they don't like it! well, tough *hit! :) I'm sure they say bad things about me as well. If the majority of women find gray hair or baldness a turn off! *uck'm! I don't need or want a women that depends on the perfect looking male (there is no such thing) it is what's in a person's heart! not the outside appearance! no matter who you are, male or female, gravity is going to grab a hold of you and pull everything down!! you can spend thousands of dollars on rugs, implants or surgeries, gravity will get us all.

I have been alone now for 15 years! do I miss not having someone in my life? sure! but not at the expense of going under the knife, buying some damn awful rug on my head or even dyeing my hair to become just another phony person that refuses to except the fact that he or she is getting older! No Sir! I shall continue in life as I am until one of two things happen, I lose all my hair or die...whichever comes first. Greg your a great person, a good friend! just be yourself!

One great lesson I have learned in my short life is this...Honor, Loyalty and Integrity for ones self, family and friends is the Highest of complement's that can be bestrode upon a person! Those that lack such qualities are doomed to be scattered to the four winds, never to be remembered.

Thanks, Scotty, and welcome back, my friend! :D

I cannot be anyone other than myself! And I agree with you 1000%. I just saw a man this morning who looked like he was completely bald, wearing a horrible wig (You could really tell in the back) and he thought that he looked like a young 20 year old stud or something, smiling at the young girls, who were giggling at him, because he was totally clueless. I could not help but be amazed at him. I know that I would never have a chance at a 20 or 30 year old girl, and I wouldn't want to even think about it. At my age, even someone who is 50 is still 12 years younger than me, makes me think that I would be "robbing the cradle", hehehehehehe :D

We just have to live life as it is presented to us, deal with the road bumps, and keep sliding into our graves! :)

As a wise man once said "Death is the only real adventure"!

Oh, so true! Wiser words were never spoken!

Greg

Greg, you and I are not wired for two twenty! I did that once, my second (and final) ex-wife is 12 years younger then I am! sometimes I think my heart attacks were caused by her, because I could not keep up with her! and most of our problems were caused because I had to raise another child...her!

I see men like that all the time, all they are doing is fooling themselves! and put themselves in debt by buying the sports car and all the other crap just to keep them around! Thank You NO! I would rather find someone that is down to earth, has a great sense of humor and close to my age and the love of Trek (that is a must) as much as I do or at lest Sci Fi! but so far...not a one...oh well! such is life.

Thanks my friend! :)

Greg, Thanks for your service to our Country!

Oh, and for the record, as an "Old school" SPFX guy, I just saw that Quentin Tarentino has now come out AGAINST all the fantastic CGI crap SPFX in the movies, and wants Hollywood to go back to Matte paintings, and full sized models!!!! First Speilberg and now Tarentino! I may have to dust off my resume really soon! :)

Greg

I sure wish they would! nothing looks more real then a model on screen!! but they are just two guys out of a multitude of "It's cheaper with CGI" mentality! I wonder what has happened to ILM? now that Disney owns it! has it gone totally to CGI? or is it even still in business?

The D in Enterprise looked exactly as it was originally imaginned. The cgi allowed them to finally showcase the lighting it was intended to have. It only looks weird because we are used to the blander look of the model, which while textured nicely, was not lit as it was conceived.

I've bought this a while ago (the revised and expanded edition, not the troubled 1st hardcover edition), and it's a fascinating read! Yesterday, I got the official ebook version (epub, 33 MB), and in case you are interested and don't have the book yet, p.m. me, and I'll send you a link.

The lighting on the cgi ship is mostly correct. Remember that for Generations, the model itself got refurbished and enhanced to look better on the big screen. The reason for the self-lighting on the TMP ships forward was an attempt to explain the seeing of the ships in deep space. There would be no light and therefore the models should be just dark shapes. In '67, audiences were not that savy, but by the '80's, they were. So the ships were self-lit, designed and inspired by the cruise liners. The details on the cgi are mostly right. The port/starboard running lights have always been there as have the blinking running lights. The windows of course. Warp caps and such have always been lit, as has the main impulse engine. The spotlights have always been there, but all this is somewhat washed out on screen. TV sets back then would have made the fine details irrelevant, but the big screen allowed for it all to be seen well.

There IS one lighting detail (on the saucer) that is "wrong" compared to everything seen on the D before this point. One of Kirk101's browning points for getting it....

Well, that picture of the BIG Enterprise "D" with the mounting rig on the top of the saucer, that was the model that was damaged over at "Image G", where that photo was obviously taken! Late in the night, about 2 or 3:00AM one night, a young man was programming a motion control shot in the camera, and started the run, which normally takes time, and then he grabbed a magazine, and went to the toilet for a little "sit-down". When he came out, 30-45 minutes later (Hell of a "dump") the camera lens, an older, $18,000.00 lens, was embedded into the top of the saucer! It had carved a path through the 10 forward area, proceeded north, into the "NCC" area, and stopped on the "7"!

I got a call about 4:00AM from my supervisor to jump on the freeway, and report to Image G in Hollywood! Everyone important was there, from Rick Berman all the way down. Gene Roddenberry was missing, of course, as he was very ill at that time. The ship was ruined, totally unfixable, according to all in attendance there, except myself and another person. The top of the saucer was removable to replace the lights, so we could take just the top and have it repaired. Lucasfilm had pulled a mold, which this fiberglass shell was pulled from, so worse comes to worse, we could always just pull another copy of the top, and deepsix the destroyed version!

I never found out what was decided, within 6 weeks, I left the show to work on the James Bond film "License to kill"!

Amanda
05-27-2014, 08:58 PM
Indeed. They only ever "lit" when the saucer separated. They are Technically auxillary engines. But like the cgi TOS Enterprise they are now on all the time. Cause they can, I guess....

Scott

Now that y'all stop talking to take a breath of air, I can say what I wanted to say.....I forgot.

One thing about the 1701D that I wondered about, is on how it would have looked if ILM had lit the first model with yellow instead of blue window.

As for a wife, never had one. I never wanted the competition when I went shopping. When I had the money, I loved to shop.

On another Star Trek note, I saw an episode of Science Fiction Theater with DeForest Kelley as a Doctor (with a villain looking mustache), and Leonard Nimoy
as an alien in a Rocketman movie serial. Type casted before they got to Star Trek.

I had told him the story that I had heard, but he said that it never happened! He did admit that Greg Jein had built the 4 footer, but that was because so many people, techs and FX crew really hated dealing with that large model, so a smaller one was made!

I've read a few story's of the motion control rig's running into different models before, scratching the hell out of the model, even gauging into them, but at the cost in man hours, materials, design time, your talking $50,000 and up, I just pity the poor *astard that destroyed a model out of pure negligentes! He or she never worked in FSX ever again. Large models can be a pain to work with! but they do look beautiful on screen! Hence why we have CGI today!!

A good example of models looking better, TOS. The 1701's better fx shots put the remastered cgi to shame. I love the flying into shots,

He told me a story that he heard about the STTMP Enterprise getting damaged, and they had to scramble to get the shot done with a smaller model, but he said that the story was also bogus, never happened! There was an interview I saw one time that the STTMP Enterprise was the most hated of all the ships, so when it came time to blow the ship up in ST4, they decided to use the REAL model and get rid of it once and for all! The interview was with "Guy Vardemann" who was on STTNG! Rick Berman came out later and said that situation never happened! Seems Guy was a type of person who had a lot to say, but never really knew the FACTS behind whatever it was that he was saying!

The Enterprise A was blown up in Trek 3. They used a larger bridge/saucer section to do it, and poured an acid onto it to get the eating away effect. Then the blew the bridge. They have a "husk"model of it with the saucer blown apart to reveal the decks and other damage. I had pics up here once. It was up for auction at Christies. The larger model was refurbished for Treks 4-6, though the new paint job was a flat white and not the multi panel metal look.

It was a thin shell vacuform, which they poured acetone onto, and it had a heating element under it, to make the plastic melt in that specific way. It was an old trick, updated for TREK! The Enterprise-A was the STTMP model, just added the "A"! :D

And it was NOT blown up!

I had read that the refit 1701 was hated by ILM, and they did enjoy seeing it get blown up in STIII, but only new built sections were blown up.
Another guy who wanted to be important, shameful.

An off ST note, This morning I shot myself in the hand with a CO2 pistol. The BB went through the side of my hand. I was lucky it was not near any bones.
It was a freak accident. I WAS not trying to clean a loaded gun, as others say when they shoot themselves. ;)

I know that has to hurt! I hope they got the BB out? heal up fast my friend.

Same from me, of course: good healing of your wound! And in my last message, that was the Squire speaking, that immature, infantile little brat, who should be spanked for making fun of you, adding insult to your hurtful experience.

All the best to you, my friend! :)

WHAT! Are you telling me that what I saw on the screen was not fact, and the 1701 refit DID NOT blow up? Are you saying that the 1701A is the same ship? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/lloyd2/jawdrop.gif

AZSneed, you need to be more careful with situations like that!!!!

Remember what happened to that guy from "Voyagers", who put a gun to his temple, since it was loaded with blanks, and then shot himself! That is not something you want to find out firsthand!

I lost an eye three year back in a dart gun fight with a 4 year old who cheated and took the rubber suction pads off! gave me the whole 6 - 5 darts dialog too. "I know what you're thinking punk, did he fire 6 darts, or only five..." since I didn't see a suction pad I told him as I sat there against the house, in pain from stubbing my toe trying to get away from his initial attack, "I gotsta know" click! ahhh! rest is history

Also, I'm really PISSED that all the links that I have reupped on "Multilink" storage site, appear to be falling dead, on several of the links, so if anyone knows a site that won't kill my links in a month or two, but leave them alone for YEARS, please let me know, or help me out by reupping some of these links.

Many Thanks, Greg

Hey Greg, I pay about $60 for one year with Yandex, gives you 100G or more ... I have moved ALL of my shares to them. That's why (for instance) I had to re-announce my U.N.C.L.E. compilations as I get around to re-upping them. I haven't heard that anybody has had any trouble with Yandex.

Also it's easier if all are on one host. As Mark Twain said, "Put all your eggs in one basket ... and WATCH THE BASKET."

Thanks,Greg. It is good that the gun was not a 22 or higher. Then again, if it was, I would not have been shot.

I tried Mega on IE, they said to get a "modern browser", so I got Firefox, that is the browser I can only get the 90 something % download. I download while I sleep
since waiting for the download WILL put me to sleep with dial-up. I like Chrome, but hate the tracking to show me relevant ads, so I don't use it.
Besides, the last time I tried to download Chrome, they were installing it, not downloading the file. I want the download, just in case I want to reinstall it.

Well, **generally** speaking, mega links are rock solid, which is what the question is. And IF you can use it, it is easy to use. The downside is that there are various members who cannot use it in various ways. I don't think there is a single one stop shop that is reliable and quick for everyone to use. megaupload was that, and we have been splintered since it went. MediaFire has become much trickier to use.

Sorry I Haven't Posted A Quiz For A While Been Busy With Stuff :(

TNG EP. 5x07 "Unification - Part I" - Act 2: Captain Picard needs a cloaked ship to cross the Neutral Zone. There has been evidence that Ambassador Spock was sighted on Romulus. That's where Picard intends to travel to find out if Spock has defected, or if he is in some kind of trouble.

Yeah, it's up to you, but I've got a good connection and some threads bog my connection where I don't go on them anymore. Pic's aren't so bad as the moving gifs. Some of us have Dial ups and it's hell on those connections. That's why I haven't put Gifs of Snoop Dog on here talking about quitting smoken weed and Cows falling out of Airplanes, Leonerd Nimoy getting fitted for new dentures and so on, or I would.
