Well, little did I know that the "master" tape that I had, was about 11-12 minutes short on music, thanks to the LLL release. With the 6 plus minutes on the 3rd to the last track, and several others, I thought that I had hit the jackpot, but now I know that only a combined union of the two recordings will provide us with a complete musical score!

I'm still here my friend! Sorry for the silence, my mothers dementia is getting worse, so I spend as much time with her as I can to try and keep her calm. After running between here and where my mother is I have finely ran out of gas and need to take some down time. I slept in to almost noon today (man I needed to sleep) and with my health, it caught up with me! I feel like I'm drunk right now but after a couple cups of coffee (decaf...Yuck!) I'll be right as rain. I try and check my email but for the last week I have not been able to do that and man has it backed up!! anyway if anything breaks down I'll be checking in every know and then and hopefully I can fix it before it gets to out of hand. I got my AMT Star Trek Exploration Set today. I had this set as a teen, and it has not been for general release for 19 years. Here are comparison of the model to TOS and TAS. It looks more like TAS to me. The images surrounded by blue are the kits, built by Round 2.

Actually, they look pretty close to the Original Series props to me. But so does the TAS designs. They do not stray signifigantly aside from a tad of simplification for animation purposes.

To me they look more like TAS, so I will paint them to reflect that. Now, if I did not have 1:1 scale "toys", I would paint them like TOS. They can go both ways, since both are Star Trek series. Besides, when I make them look more like TAS, they will be my first TAS props. I hope to BUILD props from TAS later on.

olafolaf, Since Neil had used every second of music from my master tapes, I just used his track list to compare to the LLL track list and times. AND, I had used the LLL disc for my "Spacilizer" version, so you can just use that one, and see if you get better sound and separation that I did. I would really be interested to hear what you accomplish.

Looking forward to your work, olafolaf, and Greg's too! Greg's work was, all in all, quite good so far, but had a few problems with certain tracks, IMHO. But since I'm an absolute amateur and couldn't do it if my life depended on it, I'm glad for both of your efforts. Infinite Diversity from Infinite Combinations.

Oh, by the way, when STTNG was over, I had FOUR ziplock bags of the four different combadges! I kept getting asked to crank out more and more, and then they would create a new one, and I would be asked to produce a "couple of hundred" of them, and I always did! Wish I still had those bags. Most of them were beat up to hell, since they were screen used, and I had to just replace them with new ones. Joe Longo just threw them into a box in the corner, and then he would give them to me, when I came with replacements.

*sigh* But, alas, they are all gone now, including Joe Longo. (R.I.P., my friend)

Soundtrekker: Always interested in anything you would have to say! Which tracks did you have a problem with, let me listen to them, and see if there is something that I can do to make it sound better. I may have to just start over on those specific tracks, but I'm willing to do it! :D

Greg, to be honest, it was just one track where the sound seemed rather muddled (don't know how describe it better), that's the last few seconds of track 24 ("Hit the Button"). As a matter of fact, these few seconds were somehow damaged already on the original GNP Crescendo LP/CD (the effect was rather bizzare, I can't describe it exactly, you'll have to play it to see what I mean). In your version, the cue loses its clarity and transparency. Generally, though, your edits are quite good, especially the piano parts. The forte/fortissimo parts, however, lose something here. I don't know if it's possible to make it better (as I said, I'm no expert), but maybe olafolaf knows some way to achieve that.

Again, 95 % of your edit seems to be rather good, and it's really interesting to experience TOS music in fake stereo like that. But my opinion is subjective, of course. Others may see it differently, one or the other way.

Looking forward to more edits of yours, and/or Olafolaf's. (Catspaw in stereo - WOW!)

You're right, the ones in this AMT kit were a little bigger than half-size. For example the model communicator was smaller than an audio cassette (for comparison) -- I think the actual props were as big as maybe a modern Smartphone? The tricorder was about the size of a mass-market paperback, not as big as the "original" -- which looked more like 6 X 9 inches or so ...

Probably their small size was to save money on materials. Then they would rationalize that it was "for kids" anyway, and kiddies have little handsies (they would say)...

When Playmate came out with their set, I was disappointed that the Tricorder was still too small. I finally got my favorite set with the release from Artasylum/Diamond Select Toys. I prefer the sounds and function of the Playmate Communicator.

Shoot, just build them from scratch with working sounds and lights! Put a button you hit that sounds a voice stating "Bullshit detected!"

The track is corrupt how?

Never mind, I hear it. Problem is we all share the files so the corrupt file just get shared and re-shared. Likely the original source was corrupt and it has spread with every archive. If it is not on the new official cd's, then I doubt it will ever be had intact.

Amanda, comparing both track lists and times, both have the same, and the expanded has more, so I see no reason to keep the original.

I prefer the alternative track over what was used. To me, it cheapened Jerry Goldsmith's theme to STTMP. A lot of fans complained about the TAS theme, but, it was fine, since it was not a live continuation of TOS. STNG was a new series about the Enterprise, so the way Dennis McCarthy's theme sounds, would have convey the old and the new, or so I say.

Oh, and by the way, speaking of visiting the sound stages, I was called a liar on one of the STAR TREK message boards, by one person who said that NOBODY was allowed to go onto the sound stages while filming was in process, because Rick Berman wouldn't allow it! You were supposed to have a PASS! As long as I worked on the show (3 years), I had NEVER had a pass, and the only thing that I saw was a sign on the soundstages that said "Closed set, cast and crew only", and I never let that stop me, because I was part of the "crew"! :D

On another subject, every time that I see a map of the solar system, I see how inaccurate they all are. I have always told people that if you had a basketball, to represent the Sun, then you would need a volleyball to be Jupiter, as well as Saturn, since they are almost the same size. Then, a hardball baseball to be the twins Neptune and Uranus. As for the other planets, you would need the head of a pin to be Earth, and everything from there goes smaller! Now, if you put the Sun at one end of your property, Pluto would have to be at the other end, about 100-125 feet away, and would have to be a grain of sand! If the Sun were hollow, you could fit 1.3 MILLION Earths inside of it!
There is SOOOOOOOO much space between the Sun and Earth, between Mars and Jupiter, and between the Sun and Pluto, it's incredible. I have found an online map that is fairly accurate. Check it out:

I just watched a Dick Tracy movie from 1933, and the Coroner said, "I'm a Doctor, not a Detective.", plus a couple more like that. I thought that was original for Bones. Star Trek, took ideas from many sources and it still worked so well, plus, McCoy delivered the lines better, too. Just an observation.

Well, we can see that just about EVERYTHING from TREK was taken from one source or another. A wise man said that during our entire lives, we only create one ORIGINAL sentence, the rest is just repeated from somebody, or somewhere!

Did you know that a tv movie production was made of this one-man show in 1981, starring Leonard Nimoy? (Filming Locations: Guthrie Theater - 725 Vineland Place, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, according to imdb.com) I saw this tv production way back in the early 80ies in Germany (where I live), and even made a VHS recording of it. It was broadcast with the original audio, and German subs, I think. I even might have that old VHS cassette somewhere in an old box. Back in the days, I recorded everything with the names of Shatner or Nimoy in the credits, being a true fanboy! :)

Back in the 1970's, at a convention in Orange county, CA, I met a young man named Steven Stockbarger. He turned out to be a fantastic propmaker, had his own TOS phaser, and Tricorder, and communicator, really great work, but he had made an incredible tiny version of the "Time Machine" from the 1961 movie.
