I'll PM you the link for the "Nemesis" artwork (it was a Varese release.)

Now as you all know I hated the original cover, it was just plain bad, not one redeeming feature. However, what I have done here is to try and recreate a TELARC style cover so it will fit in with any other TELARC discs you might have. I couldn't resist jazzing the back up a little though as their backs were always a little boring for my tastes, but should you wish to remove the Enterprise bursting through the back it would be easy to do any art program on your PC. Just put a white box over it.

Let me know what you think peeps'.

I normally don't care so much about getting new cover art for existing stuff. But ... I always hated this cover, too, and you just blew the original out of the water. Thanks!

Yeah cool website, I have known about it for years and happy to say that I own many of those sets which I acquired from mail order catalogs and conventions.

I also have been a Rush fan since 1974. They lost a lot of fans when they introduced keyboards but not me...I've always enjoyed electronic music as well as hard rock and other genres.

FYI:
Cygnus X-1 is a reference to both the black hole in the constellation Cygnus as well as the two part Rush song from the albums A Farewell to Kings (1977) and Hemispheres (1978). ;)

The Mega.co.nz links are really fast

I have just had to uninstall Google Chrome as it would keep crashing when I tried to download anything or if I tried to go into the settings. this is the third time I have done this, however It transpires that Mega.co.nz had put something into chrome. I deleted a file that I found by doing a search in explorer using the word "chrome" the file was called Mega.co.nz. once I deleted this and re installed chrome it worked again. Just thought I'd let you know in case anyone else has had the same problem.

I use the same file but in firefox 23.0a1, and IE 10 and no such problem! could be that chrome just does not like the add-on. As far as I know the add-on just allows the user to open windows explorer after the download is finished.

I encountered the same problem when MEGA started up. A few weeks later there was a Firefox plug-in/add-on which works fine. Funnily though, you don't need the plug-in when you're uploading.

Well, I had to dish out over $700.00 cash for the original DVDs from TOS, when they first came out, with the old SPFX

I donated them to the local library, after picking up the new ones! Still, all in all, I'm glad that I backed up the originals, hehehehehehe

I bought a new set in the last 3 years from Costco for about $150. Less than a year later the "new" remastered DVDs were out and damn, I wasn't going to purchase a new set all over again, and for almost double the original price I paid...

I 'm so bad with names but i made some sound enhancements to a track this guy delivered from the DVD rips (he also makes these beautiful covers).
This STILL has SFX, door hisses and tricorder are even more pronounced now, but the strings and flutes are better and the humming background noise is gone :)
Overall this results in a better musical experience with stuff you could not hear before.

This is from Star Trek Voyagers "Real Life", when the Doctors daugther dies, a real beautiful many minutes long musical passage.

Excellent film. He used to say "hoo-ah", as he was apparently in the army - he blinded himself by juggling grenades or some such thing (oh dear - listen kids - don't try this at home). If he were in the navy he'd be shouting "hoo-yah" I think.

Anyway, Al Pacino impressions usually consist of "Say hello to my little friend", but also this hoo-ah / hoo-hah thing. Glad to BE back, my dear Mr. Scott! My vacation in the Delta Quadrant was... let's say, enlightening! I even found a wormhole and was able to monitor some of the banter happening in here with my telescope! Well, how that was possible can certainly explained by you, Mr. Scott! :)

Since you where looking through a wormhole, you have been looking back in time (hence your Victorian dress) and your telescope must produce a tremendous gravity field to hold open a wormhole for that amount of time, I could not even guess at what power source you are using! but it will be talked about in Q-Squared "Tre-Lane" or "three lanes" :)

I can understand why your upset, but remember not all of us are pricks! not everyone wants to see others fall or enjoy hurting other's. Taking some time off away from this place is a good idea! and something I would highly recommend for everyone...with that said, I know it's hard not taking what others say as personal! but some people have a knack of getting under ones skin. We do indeed share a special membership and friendship my friend! where else can we talk about a almost 50 year old television show (and a few others I might add) at our age and talk about our personal life's, when none of us have really met in person!

That being said, sometimes the problem is not attitude but of the sterility of this form of communication. I have observed that these days -- say, as opposed to 100 years ago -- people tend to write the way they speak. The problem with this is that too often these days vocal tone is used to convey proper meaning as much or more than the actual words which are used but those tones do not translate into writing. The result is that the person typing it "hears" it one way as they are typing it (with all the tonal inflections they intend) where as when the reader is reading the words the intended tonal inflections have been filtered out and the reader has only the words, which may not have been chosen well to reflect the writers intention on their own. The result can be unfortunate for all parties.

If you really want a good example of a bad forum that is within the same subject as this one, FSM is the crown jewel in hatred, arrogance, and personal attacks. It's a pit of filth compared to just about any forum I've seen. This one's got nothing on it. They know all about tone despite reading text on a screen, but that's the point - they know and don't care. In fact most like it that way. They enjoy the hatred they spew at one another.

Last night I felt a stirring in The Force. A feeling I have not felt in a long, long time. I will explain.

Last night at The Academy, I was researching in the library until the late hour. After I consumed nutrition, I motivated to my domicile and fell into my sleep chamber, whereupon I had a strange dream...

Set in a parallel universe, or perhaps just gone back into the space-time continuum, our valiant Star Fleet officer, Captain James Tiberius Kirk was attempting to retrieve Mr. Spock on the Genesis Planet.

Upon landing on the site of the most recent Spock coordinates, Kirk and landing party encountered that most virulent species of galactic rodentia, Klingons!

He's confronted by Klingon Captain Kruge, who bears an uncanny resemblance to a Terran taxi driver named Reverend Jim Ignatowski and a 'mad scientist' named Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown. But I digress.

Captain Kruge demands that Kirk hand over the Genesis Device. Now this is where the story gets tricky:

Instead of challenging Kruge's authoritay, fighting him to the death, then kicking him down a fissure of molten fire, Kirk strangely acquiesces to Kruge's demands.

The rest of the landing party is dumbfounded by Kirk's submission, leading his son David to lash out at him, "You selfish bastard! You left mom to raise me herself while you whored your cookies all over the galaxy with green Orion bimbos. I always knew you were a narcissistic Man-Whore with a lust for green pussy!"

David then runs away, off camera, sobbing into a tissue...

** note to self: this added bit of familial drama will lure in the marginal Trek fans and the women, thus increasing Trek's market share and ultimate bottom line. Producers will line up to kiss my ass and light my cigars after the Oscars are handed out... At which time I will unveil plans for a sequel along these story lines, ultimately turning Trek into more of a Reality Show and less about action and exploring strange, new worlds**

At the moment of truth, Kirk does the 'unthinkable!' Instead of meekly handing over the Genesis Device, which is too large to fit into a pocket or carry over the shoulder, Kirk hand's Kruge the dreaded "HOO-HA Device" which he pulls out of his pocket. A long, cylindrical object, not unlike a Terran cigar, this "HOO-HA Device" has been triggered to a DNA-touch sensitive detonator switch on a timer. That Kirk is an evil genious, yet still a green-pussy loving narcissist, is NOT to be disputed!

Kirk and his away team safely make it back to the Enterprise, unscathed. Except for David, who's eyes are red and swollen from crying.

The Klingons make it back to their Buzzard of Pray and back to Klingonia (or whatever that unsavory Prick Pit of a planet is called) where they land, and present the Grand Wazoo (aka Fearless Leader and his Posse) with the dreaded "HOO-HA" device. Which then explodes in his face, wiping out the entire Imperial Klingon Delegation (aka his entire Posse, yo!).

And the Genesis Planet? Oh, it exploded a long time ago. Who cares about that place, anyhow? -yawn-

There ends my story.

Quickly, we need to get a team of writers on this asap and make this dream a reality! I'm calling Paramount to set up a meeting for sometime next month.

They can mug people without any comeback. Star Trek in particlular is built on the idea that we should all be nice if at all possible. Even Mars Attacks asks "why can't we all just gid-a-long".

Don't get me wrong, even I have said things that perhaps I shouldn't have. We're all human after all. I never use frofanity... of I never intend to.

All they have to do is look cute and meow, and we humans stumble all over ourselves to get them play toys and hard food and meaty food, and a new bed to sleep in (for about 2 days then back to the couch), and also, as a matter of fact, I have two cats that will stare down ANY dog in the neighborhood if they even dare to look at the front of our house. One old woman was walking her dog, who barked at our oldest cat, Tiger, and Tiger started walking out to the sidewalk, with his back hair stuck straight up like it had been greased that way, and the woman took one look at Tiger, grabbed the leash up tight, and started to run as best she could down the street! :) I was laughing so hard, I went out and grabbed Tiger, took him in the house and calmed him down, and gave him some kitty treats, and a brand new toy mouse with catnip on it. He was fast asleep with his mouse inside a cardboard box within 15 minutes, happy to have defended the castle and done his feline duty to the cause! Hehehehehehehe

And, since Superman walks around all the time with a big red "S" on his chest, flying around the city and doing deeds of daring-do, I am currently walking around with a big red ASS! Hehehehehhehe :)

Memory Alpha website says "Unlike the HD DVD releases, the Blu-ray editions also include the original versions of each episode, allowing the original special effects and images to be seen in high-definition for the first time." Is that true? Because i don't care about any CGI bullshit screwing up my beloved Star Trek (next thing we get will new Star Trek music in the series i guess with saxophone replacing the trumpets because it sounds so mucht better! ROLF). Anyways, all i want is the best possible image QUALITY, nothing else.

You folks can help me out?

BD is obviously better because of the resolution, but don't get your hopes up too much. The grainy scenes are still grainy. The difference between DVD and VHS was a milestone. The difference between BD and DVD will depend on the quality and size of your display - and you still get those shitty scenes. They also haven't fully 'cleaned' some specks that appear. Also shadows from mic boons and cameras being moved around are still in there. I don't know who is in charge down there, but they need a good kick in the rear.

I have the TNG BDs. They look and sound great. And I also don't agree that the TOS BDs don't look great; they also benefit hugely from better color saturation and black levels. They go on sale periodically; watch Blu-ray.com's price tracker for the sales and pick them up. Highly recommended.

They have in a few instances. Someone made a CGI enterprise that they use for some shots; the planets all look much, MUCH better. I know there's a shot in Sins of the Father where they actually fixed the perspective on the models via CGI:

While I'm on the subject, there were several files listed waaaay on the first pages of this thread re: old reminiscences, insider stories by Wild Bill Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, etc.

There was also some "Tell All" stories by other cast members, staff technicians, and other people involved on the set, production, Gene Roddenberry, and somebody's next-door neighbor's mailman who talked to somebody who heard something from somebody else. I forgot their name...

Sorry, I forgot about something that I wanted to "rant" about, which has recently smacked me in the face....AGAIN!!!! Now, I know that what GWENT had said was just total BS, but it was started WAY before him, and it still continues. YES, everything that I have posted on this site, and others was STOLEN!!!! As a matter of fact, everything that is posted here was stolen from one source or another, and just because some of my sources happen to be in the studio system doesn't mean that it is MY stuff, or even belonging to the person that I got it from. I don't mean to impose a copyright on ANYTHING that I have posted, it's here to SHARE with everyone, and if someone wants to go over to some other site, and post it without saying that they got it from this site, or from me, that's totally and completely okay with me!
I'm only in this thing to share, and not for some big ego trip, that's not who I am.
I have to chuckle at people who take a photo of someone or some thing, and then they put a copyright notice with their name on it at the bottom of the picture (or diagonally thru the picture, totally ruining the composition!) Just because you took the shot, doesn't mean that you have a copyright to it. Even professional photographers have had to refine and revise their contracts recently, due to this whole "Cameron Diaz" crap that she got a photographer thrown in jail for blackmail, with some shots he took of her before she was famous!
I'm not claiming any rights to the stuff that I share here, it's FREE for all to enjoy and share, and just because I didn't go to the head of the studio and ask permission to copy down the music from some production somewhere, does NOT mean that I have stolen it! Or, maybe it DOES!!! Hehehehehehe :)

We are ALL pirates, so there it is! Just live with it!

What about the minority that love Trek '09, TOS and originality?

I been a Trekker since TOS aired and have enjoyed the spin off series as well as the feature films. Like sorei TNG is the closest to my heart second only to TOS. I refused to go see the Abrams version when it was in theaters because like many fans I thought they were going to disrespect the integrity of what Roddenberry created. I finally saw it a couple of years later on the FX channel and though it was an obvious alternate time line with sometime radically different events in the key characters lives as well as different looking technology...I like it but don't consider it as "cannon". Regarding the new film...I will probably not like it at all judging from the trailers I've seen online.

IDIC, to me, all trek is welcome.

My problem with the new Trek isn't so much with the breaking of canon or creating a new timeline, it's with poor, lazy storytelling replete with plotholes as big as an Iowa canyon for the sake of some cool action scenes. I am sick of being told to shut up because I'm an old school trekkie unwilling to accept any new take on the universe (not saying this happens in here, but I've encountered this hostility on other sites as well as facebook). In fact, I've been very openminded over the years to new trek. There just comes a point where it stops feeling like trek for me, and that point came in 2009. I completely respect the opinions of trekkies that have embraced the new trek. I am not very articulate at explaining my opinions, but this article I found pretty well sums up most of my issues with the last film.

Yep! That is him. You can see his profile on IMBD.com under "Greg R Stone". He worked the first three years of STTNG, and went on to bigger and better! He did props, models (He was one of the people who built the first BORG cube), he did pyro work on the sets, and many makeup pieces that Michael Westmore would fob off onto the company that he worked with. Greg was working under Dan Curry and David Stipes, both who are WELL known.
