This thread has been an amazing source for revisiting parts of my youth.

I've recently started rewatching Beast King Golion (with the start of the new Voltron series on Netflix) and tried looking around to see if there has ever been a BGM album for the Golion series. I haven't had any luck beyond an LP that was only songs with audio from the show sprinkled in.

Does anyone know if there was ever a BGM album for the show?

There's no BGM album for the show, sadly. Since the show didn't do so well in Japan Columbia didn't bother releasing one (it also explains why the only Golion LP album hasn't been released on CD yet).

Same thing with Dairuggar.

There's no BGM album for the show, sadly. Since the show didn't do so well in Japan Columbia didn't bother releasing one (it also explains why the only Golion LP album hasn't been released on CD yet).

Would love to obtain the soundtrack of Keniya Boy. Saw this anime for the first time in the 90s and the soundtrack is one of the things that still sticks out for me.

If someone takes your post and spreads it all over and does not ask you anything, how can you stop it? You can't. All you can do is hope they credit you. We all know certain sites that take take take and do not give credit.

What I post I post assuming I will never hear thanks and I am not surprised later to see it reposted somewhere else. I do it because I love music and want to share and give back to the community that has helped me so much, no other reason.

Right now I have to plan what happens to all my music CDs and records and laserdiscs and other anime stuff when I die. There is a lot of it. The thing I realize; all of it will end up in a garbage dump somewhere. Nobody in my family will want it so it will just go in the trash. Tragic but oh well. I can't take any of it with me. If people reshare my posts, then at least that much will live on.

The main point of my message was that the person in question could credit me, since it's so obvious downloaded from my site, but did not. That's it. I want my site to be an open forum for old school anime/soundtracks so that more people can discover old forgotten gems. Of course I know that if I post something on the internet it can be spread, that's just common knowledge.

Valrhodes, thank you for the new selection of singles. Does anyone know if there ever were alternate / instrumental versions of the first City Hunter OP, "Ai Yo Kienaide" sung by Kahoru Kohiruimaki? I especially want a karaoke arrangement by Osamu Totsuka, but I heard a clip of a string quartet and piano arrangement, and I don't know if it was released on any albums or just a fan creation. Any insight will be appreciated.

Those are all possible readings for 正司, but the great majority of Japanese sources indicate that it's read ただし (Tadashi) in this case. The booklet is probably an error due to whoever compiled it not being told how his name was read.

There is at LEAST one whole album of unreleased music for Bismark alone, just counting the music used in the show that wasn't on BGM 1 or 2. It was his anime first score so he probably had stacks of takes and versions left unused just from that one anime.

I'm definitely thankful for these OSTs, for sure--I'm not too bothered by some of the tracks cutting off (though the person who ripped that OST did send me the raw files for me to improve on). If any person who ripped an OST with that kind of issue doesn't have the time or something to fix it then I honestly don't mind but some of the OSTs that I enjoyed listening to a lot in the past unfortunately suffered the same thing (the old rip of Jam Trip Urashiman and the most recent rip of Creamy Mani Hi-Tech, to name a few) and as a result it's kinda started getting on my nerves but not too much.

Hope this clears up any confusion :)

It has to be said, I am not hearing the issues Marty mentions. Maybe it is my noisy environment or my cheap headphones. Or my worn out ears. Aside from LP artifacts, I don't hear any issues with it and I didn't do any trimming beyond doing one long recording per side and cutting the songs apart. The only processing done was to find the noise level for each track and then running a noise reduction, followed by a volume normalizing at -3db if I remember right.

But like I said in a PM, I don't have the skill to make them perfect. I tried. I spent two hours trying to remove ONE click and I could not get it, so I gave up. Some clicks were easy but this one kicked my butt. So I had to stop and let it go. Time is a huge enemy for me right now.

Marty has the raw rips now and is free to see if he can get something better out of it. I hope he has success with it. We all have different standards and I took no offense that what I produced wasn't exactly what he wanted. Hopefully it at least let people hear a rare album.

There IS a CD version of this album out there. Somebody in my circle of friends had it ~20 years ago. There was a cassette tape (remember those!?) copy of it being traded around our local anime club. I never knew who had the actual CD. But it does exist and perhaps somebody will find one for sale someday and make a perfect rip.

To give an idea of the dark ages of audio in our anime club, CD burners had yet to be invented. Nobody had them. You could not copy a CD, which was annoying because you could go RENT CDs all you wanted and get the latest anime or JPOP or whatever and listen all you want. But the best you could do was an audio cassette copy. MP3 had not been invented. Very few of us even had computers.

Eventually we resorted to real-time recording CD audio onto hifi VHS tapes. OK. I insisted on it and dragged my own equipment to meetings. You could get a very high quality analog copy that way if nobody bumped the CD player while it was running. A very few of us later had MiniDisc. But generally NOBODY cared about high quality recording at all. If it fit on a cassette and the blanks were cheap, people were happy with the hiss and junk. Truly awful things happened to good music in those days.

I still haves some of the hifi videotapes with CD dubs but no longer have a VCR to even play them. Got cassettes too including a copy of the Ledeus CD, but I have no tape deck either.

So for me, the MP3s and FLAC and so on is still pretty darn cool. It was not always this easy. And quality didn't matter because you could not get quality no matter what you did. So it is better now. MUCH better.

lossless even lossy is great considering this, agreed

for instance it turned out there is only one Dagger of Kamui cd from the one library in Tokyo ...

I think most places threw them out :_( like libraries withdraw books (and mostly send them to the rubbish container if nobody buys them at once)

Problem of today, and I am sorry if I might offend sensible hearts, is that since quality is now a big thing, if you give them something low then their quality standards, there will be complains because it is not how they wanted it to be. If that is the case... go buy yourselves.
"vladataru" (not sure if I said right) shared 2 rare anime soundtracks that I really wanted,but he did very weird rip in wma that the files themselves are protected, and I can't do anything with those files. So, yeah , I have those 2 soundtracks on my list to buy when I have the chance and share a better rip. I was thankful and happy that he shared it, but I can't really do nothing with those files.
Jesus---- back in 2000 when I first got my skills of anime soundtrack hunt on the web, I had, and still have mp3s in 128 and even 96 kbps- My "dragon ball best collection" is burned cd from 96 kbps files, and I enjoyed the fuck out of it. Because, as long as I can listen it, its fine, I am happy as hell. I still own audio cds I burned from mp3s that were from 96kbps to 192 kbps. At the time I even draw my own cd cases and booklets for those anime/game soundtracks of mine. it was just damn great for me to find them at time, and the feeling of realization was incredibly high.

Most cd s > 20 years old are gone now
lossless even lossy is great considering this, agreed

for instance it turned out there is only one Dagger of Kamui cd from the one library in Tokyo ...

I think most places threw them out :_( like libraries withdraw books (and mostly send them to the rubbish container if nobody buys them at once)

I do not agree. All CDs released in the world in 20 years or far are still available, you just need to look at the right place or just have patience. "PMD98" I was since 2008 looking on the ebay page that had that only copy on sale for over then 100€. I spotted some months ago another copy on yahoo.auctions.jp that I never had seen there before. I grabbed the opportunity.
If its not available NOW as in TODAY, it does not mean it will not be available ANYMORE.
I have my own list of physical demands fro my treasure collection, and I am always checking those japanese auctions for good bargains. I manage to get the character mix albums of silent mobious for like 5 or 7€ for all 3 cds, when individually you always find them way above 50€. My Gowcaizaer Ova OST; I lost like 10 auctions back in 2008~2009, and never got the damn cd. I manage to get it in the end of 2014. 6 years later I got it. Not impossible to get it anything you migth want.
You just need to know where to look and have time patience.

I think when many people downgrade something to status of ``junk'' in their own mind, they imagine all other people think so too ...
When they don't want something, they begin thinking: Why would anyone else want this?
Possibly when they are doing routine work, or not interested anymore in the situation, not thinking hard, many people have a habit of imagining that value is objective
So they imagine that everybody has the same preferences, that if they themselves don't find something valuable anymore *it isn't* valuable (to anybody)

Many people find it a hassle to sell or even give away whatever they consider low value and then ...

Edit: Came to mind, maybe bad example, but do you remember the how a few years ago, individual fans bought very many AKB48 cds for the event tickets or whatever, then put the cds directly into the trash by the hundreds each person ... After they grow out of it, its means a hundred thousand sold, two decades later, ten copies total would remain

Yes, it took 8 years to find the cd in my case after I learned about it ( 8 > 6 I win? ;) )
But remember, there is also competition and most collectors don't share
Then something happens and they or their family just throws out most of the collection

I know there is competition. I know. Gowcaizer thingy was the high proof and experience to me. There are also things that I am so stubborn with the fact that I need have a copy with obi. Dr Kashiwada drama cd 2 I only see it without the obi, and I just want it with the obi, because its one item for my special private collection and I want my collection perfect with obi. I saw it once for sale together with ALL MANGAS of Dr Kashiwada. The guy did not wanted to sell me it separately.
I know some friends in which their family mostly mothers, throw of their collections. (a german friend of mine, her mother threw all her cd anime collection out just because she was no kid anymore......)
And we do have people like that one you pointed that at least do sale their collection for having money needs.
It kinda ... I don't understand that issue though. You go through a lot in having a private collection only meaningful to you. After you wasted so much money for that collection.... you then ... throw it off as "junk"? I don't get it. why bother wasting time and money in that collection if then it is literary obliterated for garbage?

that is true. I did went years on a friend that I know he was not going to keep some of his DBZ vhs, and I always kept telling him that I am interested in certain of his tapes and I would buy from him.
Guess what... Still today he knows I wanted them..... but threw them off because "no one uses vhs anymore." he doesn't... I do!!!

It's part of my Teenager Life, i remember with precision the first i heard his voice and that sensation i feel. I dream to have this single ... and the Seventen's Map Album ! Thanks you Xardos for the tips is very cool this tips but don't worry i check all days for see an ocassion for have this DAMN album, i found the face few days after i posted the post in very huge package of 10 000 Scans (Yep you read 10 000 scans.) off various Anime, OAV/Movie and also some J-POP song from the 60-70's and especialy from TV Show and International Movie in Japanese released. In this way i opened the new division dedicated for only TV Show and Movie. (Here : ). Soon i posted some J-POP music but for this moment i working hard for complete my SCS Columbia Collection.

I just finished listening to the 1st disc of GUIN SAGA Hyousetsu no Joou / Toki no Houdo (I will post that album and CHEIRONIA tomorrow) and I must say, as a follow up to the Guin Saga album series it falls short, it doesn't have that Guin Saga feel... but as a full-on progressive rock album it kicks major ass!! If anyone here is into Emerson, Lake & Palmer or Yes then you'll love this album as much as I did. Really really good stuff!!

Guin Saga Iris no Ishi will be delivered in a few weeks. I ordered that around the same time as the other two but it shipped really late.

I plan on getting Guin Saga Platinum Princess when I can, though it may be a while since it's the most expensive out of all the Guin Saga albums

they are both very good albums, 17love. Goro Ohmi for me is not that good of a composer with orchestra, but I have to say that he did an astonishing job with the Czech orchestra. You will be marveled with every composition for every instrument.
Goro Ohmi was never a composer I would deem good because all I got from was , meh. Guin Saga fro me is were he shines the best. I don't know but I feel like he had all the freedom in the world to do as he pleased in music terms, because in all Guin Saga albums you have diferent composing styles and approaches that keep these albums all refreshing to listen. Goro Ohmi did won me over his side with these.

Goro Ohmi was always best when he did image albums and digital trips. His soundtracks to me were always... underwhelming. The Guin Saga albums are easily his best work and I agree with you Orie, each album always presented something new and some brought in a different musical style to vary it up. I can see why the album series was immensely popular in Japan.

Ouch ouch ouch ... This A-FACE remember me so much memories. Lot of people know my love for Maison Ikkoku (For me the BEST anime i ever see in my life, for the story,the music and also for all these huge marked moment make me cry a lot .) and few people know i worked sometimes on an special wave for Urusei Yatsura/Maison Ikkoku Background Music Single. Because lot of peopleignore, some background song is come from different single and various singer. I can quote Muteki ga ore o yonde iru singing by Akagi Keichirou or Binetsu na Kibun singing by Hillbilly Bops. In my opinion, these song is on Maison Ikkoku for promote each singer .... Yep each singer heard in this anime are affiliate with Kitty Records. And the same situation with the promoting off Gilbert o' Sulivan (Alone Again & Get Down), these singer are promoting with the background sound.) I can't determinate when time i released this wave but i hope soon ...

Right, i hope you enjoy this wave ... Is so sad because i have so much scans from various OAV/Movie i wanted to shared but i don't have tracks :( (Like Battle Royal, Arion, Pataliro ! and also Furiten-kun (I SEARCH THIS SINGLE, IF ANYBODY HAVE THIS I TAKE :o !)).

Hi, Can I ask some help here? I'm just trying to figure out the meaning of some words that I couldn't do it at all!! Can somebody tell me what does "arisona" and "arukitooshi" mean? from Lady Georgie OP - "Ashita ha kitto ii koto arisona ki ga suru no" "Konna ni nagai michinori wo arukitooshi desu" Please someone tell me if you know the words!

Ashita wa kitto ii koto ari sou na ki ga suru no = I have a feeling that tomorrow certainly will be good. / 'ari sou na' means "to probably be smth like"
Konna ni nagai michinori wo aruki-tooshi desu. = I am walking all along such a long way. / 'aruki-tooshi' means "all... (through) smth" ref. Kanojo wa zutto shaberi-tooshi datta = She kept talking all the time.

This has been brought up before, without results.

I'm working on a fansub of Stop!! Hibari-kun, the anime. For that, it would be helpful to get the lyrics for the insert songs. (The OP and ED are available online.) The Songbook LP appears to have the lyrics on the album sleeve. The Music Hen album may also have lyrics. So if anyone has either of those LPs, I would appreciate a scan of the song lyrics. Of course, actual rips would be nice too.

In fact, this single is a normal J-POP released but you can see in the back off the single a picture from Baribari Densetsu. I don't think if this anime have a true single with only song from the anime ... But if i see anything i post here quickly !

Not the original... I have yet to find the OST for that, though I did happen to land across an LP record.

OP and ED themes are included in the 2-disc complete soundtrack posted here (Thread 180837) in FLAC.
In this album, these songs are long versions from the original master tapes. You won't find better in term of quality and links are still active ;)

I like EAC or you can use dBpoweramp too since they both use AccurateRip to get the best possible rip.

Normally I use EAC to extract the audio as WAV.

Then use Tag & Rename Pro to process the various tags, add art, etc. Total Commander also sometimes used if I need to do file renaming or other tasks.

Then dBPoweramp to process the WAVs into MP3 320 for my truck and FLAC 8 for personal listening. If my truck played FLAC (it is supposed to but it does not work), I'd skip MP3. But MP3 is handy for sharing.

After that, I usually pack the WAVs into RAR and put them in storage in case I ever need to reprocess them into something else. I have had things go wrong with FLAC encodes so having the WAVs just saves having to go get the CD and rerip.

For tag editing and stuff I use MP3tag and foobar2000 for format conversions like WAV or FLAC to MP3/OGG/AAC :)

Requesting anything from anime Maze*Bakunetsu Jikuu, except OP single. I was a fool and didn't download marushiaru's files and now I regret it... I also found out that nowanchatte, maybe the only place that had Akahori-related information (for eg. all catalogue numbers for Maze OSTs...) is now dead and dead. Sad times are living us now. :(

Chibi Maruko-chan Original Soundtrack

Chibi Maruko, the Chinese dubbed version, has been quite a bit of my childhood and when I was watching some of it again I remembered trying to find the OST for it and recently I found this https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00005EIEJ/ so I decided to buy it on the UK Amazon site second-handed because I love the music from it.
Something tells me there has been uploads of this before somewhere but I thought I'll just put it here as it's one of those CDs that are hard to find ahah

Turns out this CD was for the first movie of Chibi Maruko-chan but when I listened to the CD, turns out each track had dialogue from the characters right at the beginning of each track so I decided to edit the tracks so that it was just music in case anyone wanted the tracks with just music, like I do ahahahahah
But I did most of the labour of the tracklisting and putting the artist on each track thus having to research some stuff too to decide what I should put there ahahah
The tracks may be very short but it's worth listening to good music ahah
