Uhm, some CDs ARE expensive or very hard to find. I saw a copy of the Lily-CAT soundtrack CD on Amazon selling for roughly $60 USD. And I know there is a CD soundtrack for The Humanoid, but I have only seen it for sale once on an auction site. I don't think it's all that great to download easily available and cheap music, but I really don't think it's that bad to download extremely rare music (especially if the CD or LP is out-of-print).

You make judgments far too quickly on people, BTW. Music downloaders are not necessarily bad people who "like buying a joint stupid alcohol." Also, please don't equate something illegal to something morally wrong. The two are not always the same.

In my defense, no japanese cds are alowed in my country. anything originaly japanese is not alowed here.
And so, since I have not much choice to DONWLOAD as HELL anything I LIKE, since i can pay wierd prices for them.
My band cds, that are not japanese, can not complain of me not suporting them :P
I payed 100euros for one cd..... and it was (still is) rare as hell, And i never thought there was cd released for it.
Still, I'm very proud of wasting those 100euros for that cd.
Hipocrisy should no be here, everyone downloads everything. Why bother no to. The world is free, for now.

Sure, any typos, corrections, missing data and what not. By its nature its a work in progress. In fact, while writing this reply I found a error on the SD Gundam page, which I'll have to fix.

Okay. I think I've seen this before. It's either:
1) Too many people trying to access the file at once, so keep trying back later (at least a few hours apart,)
or
2) It was loaded with a limit of the number of free downloads. I don't use rapidshare, so I don't know exactly what causes this, but it has to do with the account settings of the person who uploaded it. They need to reupload it, or say that I can reupload it. (I don't like reposting someone else's work so soon without permission.)

And the tracklist ends at track 14 on the scans of Windaria. So, tracks 15 to 18 must be the image album stated above. Just working the information available, though... ;-)

Unless the forum's staff didn't save manually every link in some kind of document, it's all lost. ForumCommunity/ForumFree has all the forums' discussions/messages/subforums stored in one big database, they can't retrieve data belonging to a particular community (unless the deletion hasn't happened in, what's the way to tell it, short times? If a forum was just deleted, the service's staff might be able to do something, but they won't retrieve the OLD Anime OST's stuff for two reasons: 1) It already passed too much time, they no longer have its stuff on the database. 2) It was a community violating their "Terms of usage". If einachi and the others don't want to get sued, they better leave ForumCommunity/ForumFree alone. This kind of project should have been hosted on its own server in the first place.... I'm quite surprised it survived as long as it did, they are usually quick in deleting such kind of communities.

What would be the problem with that? The last time I checked the way to say it was "Sharing is caring", those who share something do so because they want to, not to get something in return. Nowadays you've to earn the chance to download stolen music? Piracy sure went down the hill, if that's the case. Not everyone has something to give in return, nor they have to, mind.

Also, remember that with the community the forum was hosted on each message gave the site more visibility (thus endangering its survival), ForumCommunity has a thing called "Top Forum" which works like that: More messages/topic views->Higher position in its Top Forum->Better visibility on sites like Google (so it can be found and tracked down way faster)... You should actually be thankful to the guys that didn't post anything on the OLD ANIME forum.

i would not talk about "links" but how the oldanimeost.forum was a very good db for all related to animusic.
we were working hard to enhance the db each day. we did that in the way to share a culture, all the contributors did it for the same reason.
so i won't go against your words.

Yeah, I suppose it was one of the best database out there, too bad about the place it was hosted at... As I said, this kind of project should have some kind of dedicated server & place, using freeforum services isn't a wise idea... Sooner or later it ends. Either way it is a CD I have been desperately after. I do have 2 of the tracks off of it so far, if I recall correctly. Track 1. Ave Maria (OP/ED theme), and track 3. Ave Maria (Karaoke).

So only missing track 2 to make it complete. Shang Shang Typhoon are such a strange band, I don't mind old classic Japanese music much, but they somehow make it even stranger.

According to a note published on the old anime forum, they got a request from "Japanese publishers" to stop posting albums, so they voluntarily took the entire forum down.

I'm not sure why their forum was affected and this one was not, but I did notice that since it appears to have been an Italian server, the rules might be different.

For those who like hardcopies, the BGM LP's were never reissued on CD but I have seen them on Yahoo Actions. (It's actually how I finally got my hands on BGM #3!) The songs and queues by Loudness were included as bonus tracks on reissues of two albums, "Thunder in the East" and "Disillusion - English Version". You have to be careful though, because the bonus tracks are not on every version of these albums that is available. I can only confirm that they are included on the limited releases in cardboard sleeves from 2004:

The version of "Odin" on "Thunder in the East" includes the movie lead-in which I had only previously found on a 12" single Loudness released. "Eruption" from the "Disillusion" album is the departure music for the Starlight without the orchestral accompaniment. Its lead-in is faded into the orchestral version in the departure sequence, while the remainder of the track is used later during the escape from the "Ginunga Gap" scene. "Flash Out" is the metal fight music used in the big action sequences -- I originally found it on that 12" single I just mentioned.

The two TPO tracks not included on any of the BGM's I found one day by accident. The artist(s?) were apparently already famous before the movie was made for being the first in Japan to use the Fairlight CMI music synthesizer. Last year he(they?) released a 25th anniversary album which included tracks used in Odin that is still widely available:

I was really surprised to learn that two of the most-used music queues in the movie were actually released on a couple of Techno albums in 1983. They underscore the movie so well that it's hard to believe they were originally sold on their own. The one piece used more than any other in the movie is actually the instrumental background for a Techno-Pop song.

And that's all I've been able to track down. There's still quite a bit of good music in the movie that has never been released in any form. I've been trying to cull that out of the Dolby Stereo mix with pretty limited results, all the while praying for a Blu Ray release with at least a 5.1 remix.

If I win the lottery I will be on a plane to Japan to secure the rights to a proper release! I hope everyone looking for this music enjoys it as much as I do!

Can't thank you enough for your generosity!!! I had an old cassette recording of the first two LP's and tried desperately to clean up, unfortunately there was an excessive amount of warbling as well as poor playback quality on the tape deck. An excellent job putting this awesome ODIN compilation together, never thought I'd get to have this magnificent BGM let alone the Loudness tunes! Back in the late 80's I had acquired a Loudness LP at the beach containing the Odin songs, brings back memories when I used to play the Odin VHS raw the circulated among fan circles! Thank you again!!!!!

it depends

sometimes if the disc isn't extremely damaged, it's still able to be ripped

for example:

for back 2002, i've ripped my Ruin Explorers Drama CDs (4 discs total)

when i tried to play in my cdplayer, sometimes the tracks was not able to be listened, but when i ripped to the computer, all has been fine.

Sorry no track names. Could not find a reliable enough translation for all of them.
The CD case says this disc is an "original soundtrack image album" which seems contradictory. Image albums aren't usually the actual soundtrack. But apparently this is the only Starship Troopers anime OST CD so perhaps it actually IS the soundtrack. Maybe someone who has seen the actual anime can verify.

Usually they are both soundtracks and with new tracks (the image album thing).
You have for example "Genmu Senki Leda Special Selection ORIGINAL & IMAGE SOUNDTRACK" which is a collection of both LP releases of the ost and the image album.

Thanks for the track listing. For Image versus OST, I was thinking of how the Venus Wars OST and Image albums are almost -but not quite- the same music. The Project A-Ko 4 image and soundtrack albums are similar.

There are other exceptions.

Cosmo Police Justy had a soundtrack and an image album. The image album ended up with some songs from the anime that didn't make it on the soundtrack album. The vocal version of "Esper Commando" for one. Pity there was never a Justy TV series.

Then there was the manga Capricorn which got an Image album years before an anime was made, and has completely different music not related to the anime.

But the bottom line is not what the music is called, just that someone enjoys it, right? :)

if you want any Drama CD from this series, go and buy it, because if no any person there answered your crying there till now, it is because no any person there has them. (if someone have, maybe the person doesn't want share)

The Drama CDs for this series are rare, never shared on internet

if a second soundtrack for this series exists (maybe yes, but i don't remember catalogue number for now), i am almost sure there is no any person there with it too.

Super Dimension Century Orguss DIGITAL TRIP has never released in CD

mostly digital trip was only released in LP on 80's and some of them are obscure.

They are hard to find on secondhand stores.

I am actually hunting some of them for sale
