I just facepalmed myself today... all day. I saw the Drama cd 1 here and I wanted to check if it had all tracks, since I was missing 3 tracks from there. I was super happy it had all tracks, and today while organizing my files... I got aware I had a stupid torrent called "anime" which I had downloaded this drama cd with complete tracks. epic facepalm Orie. Just epic facepalm. xD

So I am sharing the rest of this series.
These are some of my favorite drama cds, and I heard them many times. Yeah, I missed 3 tracks, but those were not plot relevant in here. These Drama cds of Lensman are a VERY alternative take in Edward Smith's original concept. The story is cool and characters are mostly enjoyable, but there is one thing that does kill a bit of your imagination while listening to this.
The sound effects! My god, the sound-effects are horrible. those laser guns sound more like a little alien farting. Gunsmith Cats drama cds gunfight and gunshots sound more like a raging war then the alien fart-effects. The action in these drama cds go away very quickly from your interest. Drama cds are supposed to make you imagine through the sound, and these do fail a bit in that. I swear... every time some uses a laser gun, I imagine they are squishing a little alien and thus, the fart.
I have these drama cds rips for a long time, back when osanime.org was still a great website to visit (2005 and back). There is no released soundtrack for the drama cds sadly. I like the soundtrack a lot, and there a lot of memorable cues (mainly the action ones). And Hiroko Kasahara songs are phenomenal. :)
The Gekijou (theater comedy) tracks are great and stupid xD if you know japanese, you will laugh xD

I subtitled the Lensman movie a few months ago, but the people who helped me sub it thought it'd be a good idea to make a Goodies folder and include any kind of Lensman bonus content in it to release it alongside the movie. Commercials for the movies, toys, some comic scans, etc.

I was actually planning on adding the Lensman Drama CDs as well but I realized that I only had the first volume. I wasn't expecting the OP/ED single to be uploaded as well but I really appreciate it!

I take it this is yet a different version from either the previous film or tv versions?

At least they finally made Clarissa a red head.

yes, another alternative version. very diferent. It's based and inspired in Edward's third book the "Galactic Patrol" book. But it also takes some points from the last books "Second Stage Lensmen" and "Gray Lensman"; not much though, just borrowing some little details.

Just found this on Yahoo Auctions JP. Though, I was also told that the only LP released relating to it was a drama album...that, and for some reason, some drama albums have the tendency to put "Original Soundtrack" on the cover instead of "Drama Album" or something.

Is this the drama album or is this a BGM LP?

Though... I get why they would put "original soundtrack" when it was a drama album too. They used to mix speech in some parts of the soundtrack. Like you have the soundtrack , yes, but you could have some drama speech mixed with it.
in this case you might have bgm mixed with drama. Best way to explain is , imagine for 1 minute a bgm is playing fine, and then a speech starts, but still you can listen the song as you hear a soundtrack. Speech comes a goes.

Could you find a review for the SF Shinseiki Lensman Original Soundtrack (Drama) LP? I was going to consider getting it but idk if it's worth the money, even though there are cheap copies of it on Yahoo Auctions JP

I am pretty sure the second ost of Mechadock was shared in here.

Lensman drama LP? did not knew about that one. But... why not just buy it? I'm pretty sure a review is not always going to be easy, and also... why the hell would you choose a review risking the fact that the person enjoyment was bad with it, when you can enjoy it more? I would buy it. How many people out of japan you can ask? "was it any good? how is the art the pretty booklet?"
Don't trust reviews. You want, go for it, whether you like it or not, even if you feel that it might be wasting your money, at least it might have some personal meaning to you be it nostalgia or just collecting from a franchise you like a lot.

This might sound silly, but I've thinking of something lately:

What if some of us decided to start a GoFundMe or something so that we could get the Ulysses 31 Japanese OST? Having one person spend $330 on it seems expensive to me, but I think it'd be fair and interesting enough if we all donated money together so that we could get it.

Indeed it is. Though, considering how both the vinyl version and the CD version are crazy rare, I can see why it'd be so expensive...

the highest I've paid for a vinyl record was $60 (the byston well orchestra album), but regardless of whether it's a CD or a vinyl, I'd NEVER pay that much for an OST unless I was rich or something.

Therefore, since there's plenty of people who want this OST I think it'd be fair enough if we could donate money so we can all get it together.

What do you guys think?

As I said before, I properly and gently restored this album (without using those crappy noise reductions that create crappy 'low bitrate mp3'-like trebles distortion): I removed analog clips, clicks and crackles, made true digital silences between tracks and some EQ. I hope you'll appreciate it.

Don't think so, it barely shows up in Leiji Matsumoto's compilations. And I've seen real karaoke videos (that's how I got Melissa from FMA).

The Roman Trip Hi-Speed Jecy album has no relation to the OVA.

The character designer of the album cover (and the illustrations in the inlay sheets) is actually the same one who did the character designs for the OVA, interestingly. The album was meant to be an image album for the manga series.

I don't think everyone hates them...it's just that not many people buy them since many of us don't know Japanese.

I recently got a copy of the Space Fantasy Emeraldas album for $1 (in good quality too...I'll rip it here later) mainly for the vocal tracks. I don't mind ripping the drama tracks since they are part of the album as well but I don't normally buy drama albums since, like I mentioned earlier, I don't know Japanese.

If I knew the language well and if the drama albums were also original stories instead of those albums that just do nothing but copy and paste audio only from the TV show/OVA/movie it comes from, then I'd be buying them.

I enjoy them despite trying to figure out what they're saying. However, it seems as if people from America just don't appreciate the extra stuff that comes included in CDs.

Gunnm Another Story, for example, is episode 3 from the Ova. The ova production got canceled of how bad the acceptance of episode 2 was, but the actors were filled for a third episode. so... if the money was withdrawn in fear that the animation studio would suffer another major loss, they themselves made a drama CD , Episode 3. And hell lot awesome then episode2. I do wish they had animated it. But that is the beauty of some Drama cds. Final fantasy Unlimited, sadly had not second season, but you had drama cds, "after" and "before" to give some more detailed plot points and answering some question of the show. Why is that not in English? because the target population is JAPAN. Now, think about this: some one like me, who loves drama cds, and would really want people to feel what is so cool about, if I lived in America, I would never start a project in dubbing some of these drama cds, because... if people already don't care if they are drama cds because it is japanese and tehy don't understand, how can I be sure that another issue will rise from the "complains" ass like this "if got the actors for a drama cd then you can get them for an animated ova. Drama cds are useless." If only the world was that simple, there would not be this issue. So taking these points in regard, I much like will not even start a project like this because of that.
Might be people that might like the drama cd and having them in English would be awesome, for the first time in japanese drama cd scene history, but there will be always "assholes", and sadly, wed don't know who would win, so this would be a risking project.
Though Marty is right about some copy paste drama of audio of some episodes... though it does not bother me at all. First of all, some I never even saw it in my whole life, so... that would be a good introduction. Second... Back in 20ts and older, there were radio drama shows, and people had no visuals to related to. I might be looking like an old guy who obviously gives more credited to something like this. But drama cds are not really useless. Chrono Crusade Drama cds were the very reason why I wanted to buy the mangas. I love the drama cds of chrono crusade, and in drama cd 2, although capturing some plots of manga 2, the creator decided in that drama cd to give a bit more depth in the past of 2 siblings, which in the manga is so very brief and you don't related to their problem and issue at all. But in drama cd 2 of C. Crusade you get a better notion of things.
I know, I know, I can't talk much because I understand japanese, but I have to share this text, of what you guys are missing in the drama scene.

What I want so badly right now is Candy Candy New Soundtrack & BGM album (2015).. I wish someone would share it here... I don't think it is expensive at all but if I get that album, I'd like to share it guys.. it means a lot to me. I admire Takeo Watanabe's masterpieces.. and the album contains unreleased bgms, it's awsome!
I also would like to ask whether you guys know the classical tunes that play during some episodes.. Especially, the ones which you can here after Anthony's death! I think they are not Watanabe's tunes as they sound like church music to me but I'm not sure! I don't know what they are called at all... After Anthony's death and when Candy returns Pony's Home.. during these episodes you can hear some great tunes... Anyone can help me with that? And there is a tune that I like very much and you can hear it in Episode 88 too, Between 9:23 -10:32 minutes...(organ) If you know these tunes belong to some other composers, please tell me guys! This music of episode 88 you want is no a BGM composed for Candy but for Meg. So it's not in this CD, where you can find only the musics COMPOSED FOR CANDY. A part of the BGM heard in Candy were composed by Takeo Watanabe for Mako (1970) and for Meg (1974). So all the musics heard in Candy are not in this triple CD. Therefore it's a fantastic CD. If i find time this week-end i will put a link.

If this is shared I will cry tears of gratitude. That's a chunk of my childhood right there.

@Orie: I haven't seen "hate" per se, but disdain. Probably the hate would come from the frustration of finding that there's nothing but a Drama album instead of a proper soundtrack of certain series.

I'm looking for Mako Chan's too but there seems to be no hope for that! So, you say that tune belongs to Takeo Watanabe, I hope you are right my friend... I read on an another thread (maybe some of you already know it) that most of MakoChan's musics were taken from "Sergei Prokofiev’s Cinderella balle" (for the first episode) However, I nearly searched for all his works but I couldn't get any further as they sound not familiar to my ears... (Also, searched many other great composers in case I may come across with something I'm looking for)... So far nothing in my hand!
For example, We hear many times that Terry plays his harmonica and that tune is called "Auld Lange Syne"... porbably most of you knew !
I hope someone out there hears my cry: "Tasukete" :D

I've mentioned this before, but seeing how the BGM OST is incredibly hard to find and gets auctioned off for an insanely high price, is anybody interested in starting a GoFundMe-esque thing to raise funds and get the soundtrack off of Yahoo Auctions JP someday? The vinyl version was auctioned off for $183 on August 2015 and the CD version was auctioned off last month for $325...I can't imagine a single person paying that much just for a single album, so I thought it'd be a good idea to have those who want the OST donate money (if they choose to do so) to get the soundtrack ripped here.

This guy know lot of things about this, know the destiny of this soundtrack, know for the pilot movie (YES FOR ALL DON'T KNOW THAT, ULYSEE 31 HAVE A TRUE PILOTE MOVIE !! Words cannot describe how happy I am to post this...after a year of searching I finally manage to obtain this album.

Also, I learned how to remove cracks/pops from vinyl transfers! I tried my best to remove some from this album, though I was only focused on removing the ones that were REALLY noticeable; you might hear some small ones hear and there, but to me it's not that big of a deal :P

Does anyone have this?

Just bought this recently. Unfortunately, the only copy of this album available isn't allowed to be shared publicly, so I decided to get this myself to rip it in FLAC.

Anybody know why the CD version is so expensive? I actually got this for 7 dollars...I would've gotten the CD version but the only copies of it go for more than $60 :S

Did I misunderstand or someone said to have the Candy Candy new music collection? Probably misread in my excitement.

It'll probably be hard to answer this since none of us have the OST, but does anyone know if the music in the Ulysses 31 pilot shows up in the Japanese BGM OST as well?

There were some pretty good tracks in the pilot, it'd be a shame if they weren't included in the actual show itself or in the OST

Yeah, I understand not everything can be shared in FLAC/APE/TTA with CUE files and logs or that I demand so because otherwise "it's not pure, it sounds like crap" or whatever argument people like to use. I've got a lot of music I personally encoded over the time from original CDs I had or people lent me back when the only alternative to save and share was using mp3 and low bitrates. And I gotta say, most of them still sound very good to me, and when I got the chance I buy them because I really appreciate the music. Unfortunately for me, buying sometimes it's not an option because just the cost of importing across seas goes over the price of the item itself, or I got more urgent matters to spend on my family. So I'm grateful for what is shared, whatever bitrate it is.

Just sometimes, sometimes, I like to ask in case something pops up. Gonna take a look around, maybe this time it would be a good opportunity to buy it instead.

And I always shared these in lossless with respect for shriners who posted lossless rip of old and rare (and sometimes expensive) LPs/CDs they also ordered mainly for sharing here (huge thanks to them).

I don't think this is the right place to ask, but if anybody can help out with this...it'd be appreciated if you did.

So a while ago, I bought a copy of "Digital Trip Lensman Synthesizer Fantasy" (which happens to be an extremely rare LP album in the Digital Trip series)...despite the seller listing the quality of it as "EX", it sounds like crap. The amount of dirt on it is just insane...even though I recently found out how to remove clicks/pops from a vinyl transfer, I can't even remove some of them myself. And because there's too much dirt on it, you can literally hear clicks all the way through the entire song...

I'm going to try and see if I can find someone IRL who can attempt to restore it as much as possible, but for the time being...is there anybody who can help out?

Yes there are some ppl like that. They got angry bcoz they don't get flac and demanding too much. In my case ill just take whether it is mp3 or flac as long it is available and thanks those ppl who share it.
