I think there are low quality versions of the songs from that album on YT but I'm not sure about it.

Slightly unrelated, but am I the only one who thinks that there was supposed to be an actual BGM collection released after this album, but there isn't one *possibly* due to low sales of this album?

This will be kinda lengthy but let me clarify:

I've noticed that several 80s shows that have had their soundtracks released by Nippon Columbia have always had a "Hit Song Collection" released for it first before their respective BGM albums were released afterwards; the "Hit Song Collection" albums always consisted of lots of vocal tracks and very few BGM tracks. It was like this for The Pumpkin Wine, My Youth in Arcadia, Dream Soldier Wingman...I could list other shows but I think you all get the point.

It seems weird to me that there was a Hit Song Collection album for Dairugger XV but no other album that contains all the other music from the show. This is also the only Hit Song Collection album that hasn't been released on CD...

This is the original soundtrack to the OVA of the same name, directed by Tomonori Kogawa. It was
kind of hard to find at first but I managed to find a copy a few months ago for a cheap price (I had to
clean it with wood glue, though...it looked pretty in the auction screenshots but it was horribly dirty)

Words cannot describe how happy I am that I found this...I was obsessed with the ED song after
having seen the TV-sized version of it on YT and I was hoping to find a copy of the OST so I could
rip it. I did some searching today and found out that somebody on NicoNico had uploaded both the
OP and ED back in December 2015, so I decided to share them here. Background music is done by
Koji Makaino and the vocals are done by Tatsuya Matsuno.

Unfortunately it seems like I won't be able to get the OST for a while (mainly because of its rarity, but
also because it's probably worth a lot...it was last sold in January of this year but despite the auction
only being up for 1 day for over $55, people quickly put bids on it)

It's not ready yet...but in memory of him there's an LP album I have that he made that I'll be releasing soon.



This is an album titled "Digital Synthesizer Fantasy". Side A consists of 3 synthesized songs (two by him, the last one made by some dude named DADA), and Side B consists of SFX, an orchestral song, and some random jazz song. Isao Tomita has nothing to do with the songs on Side B except for the SFX I think

I had no idea about that album. That would be a nice share. Thank you.

Victor Entertainment can be really stupid sometimes.

They decide to give a 53-episode show only one soundtrack release and instead of releasing another music
album, they release a freaking drama LP instead...What's even worse is that they thought it was a good idea
to leave out the unreleased BGM tracks for the CD release and instead include the drama LP album.

They did the same thing with Nanako SOS. The only difference between the CD release of Srungle and the CD
release of Nanako SOS, though, is that they included not one...but two drama LP albums in the Nanako
SOS CD release. Seriously?

Oh well. I hope Srungle gets a proper CD music collection someday.

drama tracks may be useless for you, but for them its a big deal. I don't quite get the hate most people have on drama cd/lp. You don't like it because you understand shit of it. That does not make it a bad idea for them to do it. I appreciate drama albums very much, and I do have a long history in hearing a lot of them. I just found quite of nonsensical... when its the full audio of an episode or movie. Why would I listen a drama cd of a movie of dragon ball, when I have the VHS to see it?

The quote from you above is the reason why I dislike the Nanako SOS and Srungle CD releases.

I have nothing wrong with drama albums if they're radio dramas or if they're original stories that weren't featured on the show or something. I even have the "Space Fantasy Emeraldas" drama LP in my vinyl collection (haven't recorded it yet, but I do plan to share it here at some part)

The drama LP album that was included in the Srungle CD release contains nothing but copy-and-pasted clips from the show, which is just absolutely retarded since you can just buy the show on DVD anyway. The fact that Victor Entertainment did that twice for the Nanako SOS album is just ridiculous.

Victor was not the only one doing that. Other labels used to do it back in the 80ts.
I do try to understand why... but, I dont' live in Japan, I dont know if those episodes are of such importance to give it a audio only release.

I'm aware that other labels did the same thing too, but at least those labels were smart enough to not re-release some of those drama albums on CD alongside the show's music, assuming those albums are just copy-and-pasted audio clips from the show/movie.

Most of Kentaro Haneda's music and Yuji Ohno's music unfortunately fall victim to this. Bagi, Andromeda Stories, and Barefoot Gen never had OSTs released for it but they only have drama LPs instead, containing audio from the movie and nothing more.

My Saber R drama cds, I have not really heard them through, but the first one seemed like a resume of episode 1 with the narrator stating what is happening in OVA. :/
At least it seemed to me, in track one. Not really a copy paste, but the narrator talks and then the actual scene that happens in the OVA when they get Scarface.

I haven't bought it yet but there's 2 LP drama albums released for the Marco Polo anime. Both albums contain copy-and-pasted audio from the TV series but the only reason why I plan on buying it is because since the show hasn't been released on DVD (it'll never be, sadly) I figured buying the albums should be good enough.

Drama LPs actually used to be in the U.S. and maybe other countries too but only in the 60s and 70s especially since home video was never a thing yet. Not exactly done in the same way as in Japan but the idea was kinda the same and the title of them would usually be (story of *movie title*) but it has since died out. In Japan drama albums are still very common. I don't have anything against drama albums personally but I do get what you mean and yeah it does kinda suck when you think there's a soundtrack release for an anime but it turns out to be just a drama album.

Little note about this EP. The first Track Ano Sora o Dakishimete is the ending song of the KOR Movie released in 1988. But the second tracks : Mukai-kaze is not found in any KOR EP, Album, Box. This tracks is only found in the Studio Album of Wada Kanako, "Vocu". The song doesn't got the soul and the force of KOR (Comparing to all others KOR Song). Personally, Mukai-Kaze is good but is don't a very INCREDIBLE song if i comparing with the others idols of this p�riode who's like Meiko Nakahara (Dancing in Sweet Memories (1987) ; Friday Magic (1982) ; Space Fantasy (1985)) or Matsudo Seiko (Tenshi no Wink (1985) , Rock n'Rouge (1984) (YES IS DOESN'T COMPARABLE Matsuda Seiko with Wada Kanako :')). It is really unfortunate that Wada Kanako has not managed to draw or find a public also fort because his songs (excluding KOR) are pretty not bad ... To believe that a good number of good artists have not had the success which had to be deserves ... (Sorry for my very BAD Englsih)

Is the quality any better than the NicoNico version? If it is, I would appreciate it if you could post it here. Some of tracks on the NicoNico version have audio distortion so it kinda ruins the listening experience for me

Anyways, this is an original image album based off SPT Layzner. Pretty good stuff if you ask me. I included some pics of the album as well that I took with my camera

This mini album contains the exact version of Your Song that is used in the ending credits of Vampire Hunter D (besides a 20 second intro with twinkle SFX before the actual song starts).
The second track is a medley of the music from Vampire Hunter D though honestly I was a bit disappointed that it doesn't have any of the two missing tracks from the anime that were missing on the soundtrack release.

A lot of the BGM we ear in Ufo Robot Grendizer came from others Toei anime.

To answer your question : no.

This western track has, like many others, never been released on a record, without regards iwether it has been recorded especially for Grendizer (like this one), or picked on another series musical lubrairy.

I know that a french fan is actually recording covers of few unreleased Grendizer BGM and I'm about sure this one is on his list . He's working very hard to make his versions souding the closet possible to the original. And this musician is here on this forum. Maybe he'll accept to share the results with us when he finish it.

This western track has, like many others, never been released on a record, without regards iwether it has been recorded especially for Grendizer (like this one), or picked on another series musical lubrairy.

I know that a french fan is actually recording covers of few unreleased Grendizer BGM and I'm about sure this one is on his list . He's working very hard to make his versions souding the closet possible to the original. And this musician is here on this forum. Maybe he'll accept to share the results with us when he finish it.

I love 80's song (Yep is not a Joke :p), but i love 80's song especially if the song is sung by an idole of this decade.... Why ? I don't know the reason but, is so REALLY good !! These songs have so much vibrant moment (Not especially with Mami Ayukawa but with lot of idol like Iyo, Shoujotai, Anri and others good Japanese idol of the 80's !!). I"m totaly agree with that. I love listen curious song and my soul of adventurer feel to search again and again after a obscure song or just the ... The Golden Age. Sometimes i find an Idol and i discover, this idol sing for an anime (Like Fumi Hirano (But i know this because i'm huge fan of Urusei Yatsura) or Hitomi Tohyama with her song : MANY THANKS.) Is rare but i make all my efforts for purpose a decent work for these singer disappeared with time ... I preserves the history after all.... I have to do share a little piece of this story ....

Yep. 2 version of the same anime ! Each version have a different lyrics and singer, Miki Katsuhiko for the first (and original) version and also Mitsuko Horie for the second. The Mitsuko Horie version having a re-released later in the 70's (with lot of classic of the J-Animation) at the reference : CK-532. I don't have any information the reason to have 2 version of the opening but for me i highly prefer the first version... So much feeling with the 60's !

Is already excist the EP Single with Karaok� Songs, released at the same time of the original "Hoshi no Stranger" but with a different reference : CH-123. (Is don't excist on CD Single). Is not the only songs with Karaok� version, Terra e have it (CK-560), Galaxy Express 999 also (CK-545), the ending of Ohayo Spank have it also (KV-2031).

I found these on a dead webpage but it was archived, including the files and yeah it is only in 96kbps but it doesn't actually sound too bad surprisingly. I guess since most of the music is MIDI synthesizers there's not too much quality and dynamic range to lose.

It's interesting to me how the beat from the song "Sorrow" (called "A City Without Sunshine" on the remix version) is very close to the beat Daft Punk later used for most of their Tron Legacy movie.

Yeah it also includes two exclusive tracks "ARMITAGE" (somewhat exclusive as it's an exclusive variation of one of the tracks on the U.S. CD) and "SWING"

The U.S. release didn't get remastered until the 2002 2CD with Dual Matrix. The 1996 U.S. CD uses the same mastering as the Japanese version.

I am pretty sure the pioneer ost release was both japanese and USA.
Same with pioneer tenchi muyo cds

The soundtrack for the Poly-Matrix movie [PICA-1098] which was aimed for the U.S. market was a Japan only release and that album is the only way to get the "I've Got It" ED song.

If you check carrefuly you can see each anime came from the TOEI Animation. (And naturally each OST from this collection was released by Columbia Records.)
