Alright. I know I'm not the OP, nor a mod or anything here, just a contributor. but could we please keep those pointless debates out of this thread to avoid the goddamn drama ? This is a place to share and discuss old anime OST. if people want to take on each other in Mortal Kombat about formats, there's the technical discussion subforum or PM. or the nearest gym equipped with a boxing/wrestling ring.

I am fed up with those dramas. Let's make things clear. some people will never share lossless. if you don't like it, tough shit (pardon my french), it's their choice. some will only share lossless and I've seen quite often people asking 'please, can you re-up in mp3'. again, their choice. if you want mp3, make it yourself from the damn lossless. because in the end of the day, beggars cannot be chosers. unless they decide to take things into their own hands, buy the CDs (internet is a wonderful tool to that end) and rip them to lossless or just listen to them.

I think the discussion about "that subject" should be finished today, with this post.

For the moment i'm looking for : TV Anime History, Vol. : 20 to 28 for update my project ^^ ! Thanks for all helped me.

With all of these Urusei Yatsura albums popping up I found myself inclined to youtubing a few tracks, and I like what I hear. I was curious though, is there kind of a quintessential album or set of albums that pretty much covers the meat of it? Or should I just go full on completionist and snag all the minor albums as well?

The Urusei Yatsura have a differents particular album ...

- The "TRUE" Original Album with a original tracks from TV,Movie, OAV in name : Music Capsule I, II, Music File, Only You, Beautiful Dreamer , Remember My Love , Lum the Forever , Kanketsu-hen, Itsudatte My Darling BGM. Is very essential album for all people have see the show.
- Additionaly is have a Drama Tracks from the Movie and Show (The Drama-hen or the Drama Special).

- After that, Urusei Yatsura have many song who's have reach the Hit Parade in Japan and is very famous song. And is have a very few album for the "BEST Song" of UY with : "Hit Parade" , "JukeBox 1 and 2", "Lum's Best Selection 1 and 2" , "Super Best 20" , "TV Best Song Best" , "Gold Disc" and other ...

- BUT, UY have also many albums with exclusive or re-singed song with Fumi Hirano (The Lum's Voice) or Yuko Matsutani (Ai Wa Boomerang, Lum no Love Song) in special released album : "Fumi no Lum Song", "Songbook" , "Lum for the World", etc ... (Pretty album but is very for the curious or completist i have confessed.)

- UY have Remixed song or Re-arranged song, with the Symphonic Album or the Special REMIX and more !

- And finaly the compilation of various song take in differents albums and is a big mess when you think about it...

Urusei Yatsura is a very difficult series for find all album and understand all specific of each album. I'm love that anime but fund the album is very boring and loooonng for just one album who's like : Music Calendar (Is miserable but is a part of the exclusive tracks from UY).

Dude, much thanks for breaking it down for me. I did also take a look at that database you linked, and I almost feel silly for not knowing anything about this series until now. There's obviously a lot of love for the music! It would appear, to cover most of the bases in as few albums as possible, the later releases seem to do the trick (am I wrong?). The box set covers quite a bit, and then maybe the Dear my Friends album because that isn't included?

Thank you for completing my Dragonar BGM collection, been looking for 3 and 4 for quite sometime! I remember when I saw Dragonar for the first time on VHS from its original Japanese broadcast and loved the hell out of it-the character and mecha design and most of all the BGM!

Yeah. Too bad there's no Sanrio Fairy Tale Anime theater movie soundtrack. I've looked for the soundtrack for the at least My Melody no Akazukin and Hello Kitty no Maho no Mori no Ohime-sama. Sadly, it was no success.

All Urusei Yatsura albums in lossless, what a gift!

But katory is right, BAIDU is very slow and download stops after around 40-50 minutes after only few hundreds MegaBytes downloaded (the total archive is around 6GB!).
If someone have solution for this issue, it would be great.

I could re-up in MEGA. But some of those I just can't download.

Got them with jdownloader 2 beta myself, the trick for me was to skip the captcha until the ones that didn't fail finished, then restart the failed ones and repeat.

He wanted me to post a tutorial to download from baidu, but honestly the best bet, besides jdownloader, is using Baidu's own downloader (which I have installed), but I guess very few would take the risk. Let me know, I can download whatever is missing and upload it somewhere else.

The problem is when I decompress these TAK files to WAVE with the original TAK program, this "internal cue sheet" is not created as CUE file.
So, what program could extract these "internal cue sheet" informations as CUE file (I don't want to split like the foobar method, I want to retrieve the original WAV+CUE disc image)?

OK, I found how to retrieve the original WAV+CUE disc image cue-sheet informations from those TAK files with foobar as you suggested.

Here is the complete tutorial:


How to retrieve the full original WAV+CUE disc image from a TAK file disc image including cue-sheet informations (without external CUE file)

Windows Users:

1. Download and install the original TAK software from here (http://www.thbeck.de/Download/TAK_2.3.0.zip) (or another that can handle TAK files) to decompress the TAK disc image file the original Wave (WAV) disc image file.

2. Decompress/convert the TAK file to Wave (WAV), it's very fast and easy with the original TAK software (after you could convert the WAV to another lossless disc image file format as FLAC, APE, etc. with your favorite audio converter). You have your WAV disc image but still no CUE.

3. Then, install the latest version of foobar2000 here (http://www.foobar2000.org/download) and TAK Decoder plugin here (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_tak) from foobar2000 official site.

4. Open foobar2000, go to File->Preferences and go to 'Components' part (the first one). Then, clic on 'Install', select the TAK plugin component you downloaded (foo_input_tak.fb2k-component), clic OK and clic on Apply to validate and this component. foobar2000 automatically restarts. Foobar2000 is now fully functional for the TAK cue-sheet retrieve operation.

5. On foobar2000 (after it restarted), simply 'Add files' (from 'File' menu) and select your TAK. The complete album appears as separate tracks (with the existing included tags) on the foobar2000 interface.

6. Now select one or all tracks of this album and right-clic->'Utilities'->'Edit cuesheet'. A sub window called 'Embedded Cue Sheet Editor' appears showing the full disc image cue-sheet text. Then, select all text (right-clic->'Select All') and copy this selection (right-clic->Copy).

7. Open your favorite text editor like Notepad on Windows and paste your selection in it. After that, you could save this new text file as *.cue (don't forget to select Unicode UTF-8 text encoding if you have some Japanese or other non-ASCII text characters). You can re-edit your cue file and change the file name in the line FILE "****.tak" WAVE by FILE"****.wav" WAVE to match with your previously converted TAK to WAV audio file.

8. Congratulations, you have your CUE file matching to your single-file disc image WAV file. Now you have your full WAV+CUE disc image and do whatever you want (archival purpose, burn an audio CD, mount it as disc for a new separate track rip, etc.)


MacOS X Users:

It's a bit more complicated but there are several solutions.

� CossOver for Mac/Wine solution:
This program can directly open Windows software on a MacOS X environment.
Install CrossOver/Wine for Mac and create a Windows XP or Windows 7 'bottle'.
After installing original TAK, foobar2000 softwares (and TAK decoder plugin), follow the Windows users method until step 7. At this point, open your Mac favorite text editor like Text Edit or Text Wrangler and paste your selection in it. Then, save this new text file as *.cue (fortunately in MacOS X, default text encoding si Unicode UTF-8, so no problem with Japanese and non-ASCII text characters). Voila, you have your WAV+CUE disc image and do whatever you want with it.

� Windows system partition solution:
On intel Macs, you can install a Windows operating system on a Windows (NTFS) partition/hard drive.
You can work natively in it (by rebooting on it) or via a visualization software (Parallels Desktop, WMWare Fusion, etc.). In these two cases, exactly follow the Windows users method because your are actually or virtually working on Windows operating system.



I wrote this tutorial with some technical purpose for helping shriners with this hard-to-use TAK audio file format. So, some site admin or moderator could add this in some technical part this forum.

Hmm, so far all I've done with these weird TAK files is converting them to wav, then using cuetools to "fix" the cuesheet to wav and go as usual.

OK, I found how to retrieve the original WAV+CUE disc image cue-sheet informations from those TAK files with foobar as you suggested.

oh. you manage to find another trick I did not know about. I would just convert track by track because for some reason it would combine all tracks in the same named file. So I converted one track, change the name, then go convert the next one.
This is no grudge against lossless users, but why so much stupid lossless files? you have Wav Flac and Ape. Fine! why TAK, TTA and what was the other... TLA or something like that (suppose to refer to Tom's Lossless Audio or something like that.) A friend of mine that is into losssless told me that some guys were trying to prove that THEIR files were true lossless... 0.o?? speaking about War of Audio!!

oh. you manage to find another trick I did not know about. I would just convert track by track because for some reason it would combine all tracks in the same named file. So I converted one track, change the name, then go convert the next one.
This is no grudge against lossless users, but why so much stupid lossless files? you have Wav Flac and Ape. Fine! why TAK, TTA and what was the other... TLA or something like that (suppose to refer to Tom's Lossless Audio or something like that.) A friend of mine that is into losssless told me that some guys were trying to prove that THEIR files were true lossless... 0.o?? speaking about War of Audio!!

Personally i just use xrecode 2 since it has native TAK and TTA as well as internal cue support, but this is definitely good to post for most people.

Digital Trip Queen Emeraldas Synthesizer Fantasy

Ripped by me at 320 kbps

(Note: the album pronounces the name as "Emeraldus", but I changed it to "Emeraldas" instead since it's what most sources seem to give me)

One of the more rarer albums in the Digital Trip series, this is an image album composed of original songs based off the Queen Emeraldas manga. Tracks 2 and 4 are composed by Seiji Yokoyama, while the others were composed by Fukamachi Jun.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this album. While I've never heard of Seiji Yokoyama, this is the second time I've heard music composed by Fukamachi Jun (the first time being the OP song in Digital Trip Urusei Yatsura). I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about this album at first since Urusei Yatsura sounded kinda boring to me (my opinion on that album might change in the future, though), but after buying it, what I expected was greatly different :P

Some parts of Track 1 sound like it's a Super Mario 64 level in Space (specifically the bells heard near the end), and Track 4 sounds like a song that would fit in a Sega Genesis game :D
I don't have much to say for the other songs (except that Track 2 sounded really beautiful :) ), but I did enjoy them as much as I enjoyed the other songs C:

I imagine it was something of a cultural phenomenon as Transformers was back in the day.

I'm not comparing it to transformers, but I found out later they were all produced in Japan. (others were Voltron and Speed Racer)

To be fair I don't think i've jumped the cultural line in the sand yet, though it's probably cause I don't speak Japanese. But there's bound to be others that I forgot. I had a friend from China that knew about those early cartoons I knew, but add to that also Tekken (the movie)

Is it possible to appreciate these without having known the culture, or a knowledge of the japanese language?

To be honest, I hadn't heard of Him either. Though that's not hard, I don't claim to have a huge repertoire of musical experience under my belt.

While that is annoying, as you can see for yourself, your shares aren't the only things from this place which found their way there. My suggestion? Either shrug and leave them be, or get in contact with the folks running that place. The more mirrors, the merrier; I don't think you'd have much "ground" to request/demand a removal of your rips, anyway.

My complete Theard of Creamy Mami and my Ohta Takako albums has been collected in few forums everywhere and i NEVER credited for it... It's a shame was see many raptors steal our own records without Credited or thanked for shared, ripped and extract it...

I have found some lazy bitches who downloaded some of my physical rips, deleted the txt file, and changed the Tags as they were the ones to rip.
How to I know it's my rip? The file naming and the scans. Now you say: "But your scans are in Vgmdb", and I say "Not these!"
Get the picture now?
I don't care about it... it's them who are accumulating karma, not me. I am doing "civic" work, and sharing freely my rips or other rips. If the stuff I have, I know who are the original rippers, I add that info in my txt files or in the mp3 Tagging.
Wanna thank someone? thank the guy who rip it and shared it. I am just a middle man spreading his/her work

I know Bal Sagoth. he's a Nautiljon admin (and the mod/admin for the anime OST subsection). and he has uploaded metric tons of stuff that was previously unheard of (tons of kaiju eiga soundtracks, old games OST, etc, etc). let's be real for a second: not everybody knows FFshrine. then if they were to re-use our own links, even while giving us credit, people would find a way to bitch and complain. At the end of the day, it gives people opportunities to find stuff that may be down here, or everywhere else. Trust me on that: on the internet, a mirror/fallback option is ALWAYS a good thing.

Can we honestly say that everything we share has been first ripped/uploaded by us ? Plus I know for a fact that a lot of the rarer stuff (from the old days of the Ol Anime OST forum) is probably not around that place. Unless I fucked up and uploaded it myself :erm:

but some users and I have seen that, take soundtracks shared here, let say, by you the guy who rip and scanned, and then DOES brag about BEING HIM the original ripper and such. Just gets epic fail when you check the mp3 tagging and the original ripper name is there. I am not talking out of nothing, I did investigate that issue out of curiosity, and the original ripper was pissed indeed.
What you do is ... SPREAD THE WORD, in this case share, as this is not a private forum, so... what is the problem in SPREADING THE WORD?

Most people won't edit it. I won't. So if you absolutely want to "leave your name to the posterity", maybe you should consider doing that.

It's easy to erase a TXT file, but most won't even think about editing track informations.

Just in case people might think one thing and its another. This is not the Score Soundtrack from Vince Dicola. This is the typical American release soundtrack with bunch of vocal songs, where just 2 appear in the movie, and some score tracks. This is a Japanese re-release of the original american version of 1986 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Transformers_The_Movie:_Original_Motion_Pictur e_Soundtrack). Actually the japanese release was also sold in 1986, but the "PCCY-00025" is re-release of that one.
