I beat a couple games this past week:

Armed and Dangerous for PC. I've already stated my general opinion about the game with my initial impressions. They stayed true through to the end. The end was simply a meh. They were leading up to this huge climactic battle for the Book of Rule, and it simply whittled down to another turret sequence, which I guess sufficed for "boss battles" throughout the game. And then there was drunken bar singing. The audio quality in this game had been stellar up to the point when they had their voice actors sing to horrific animated dancing. Blah. Overall, a pretty standard third person shooter with some nifty gun mechanics that are rarely used, coupled with a fairly competent story.

Then I advanced to Kirby's Adventure for NES through the Dream Collection for Wii via the WiiU. Hah. I beat that in a few days. Fairly easy, but wonderfully fun.

And now I decided to be a little masochistic, and went on to Blaster Master for NES through the Wii's Virtual Console service via the WiiU. Heard this game was quite difficult, so we'll see. A lot of different game mechanics to keep track of, certainly a new experience for me.

I will never play The Last Story, maybe its just a shadow of the original concept... If Nintendo (Satoru Iwata?) will keep saying "it's too dark, change it" then I'm not going to buy a Wii U.

-Grinding to level shit up while I watch GitS:SaC

Graphics = Amazing

Music = Amazing

Voice Acting = Mixed (I'm going DUB for my first run)

Animated Cut Scene = Amazing

Game Play = VERY good

My main cons are:
Grinding = It's been a LONG time since I played a 'traditional JRPG' on a home console so, while it can be tedious, it's an interesting change of pace.

Difficulty = I'm on 'normal' so, maybe that's why, but sometimes it seems like 'regular' enemies can be HARDER then the boss whose ass you just kicked.

Saving = Traditional save system kind of took me off guard.
You can only save at save points and the world map, which I haven't seen in so long I almost lost 5 hours of game play because of it.

Beyond that?
Great, traditional, JRPG with a bit of 'Pokemon 3D done right'.

I beat it already. :P I like playing originals before remakes then I get used to the graphics and everything, and then I can really see the difference with not just the graphics but also if anything new gets added. I also did this with Resident Evil and it's remake and noticed the differences right away. But from just seeing the trailer, the graphics already look significantly different than the cel-shaded graphics the original has. Hopefully new content will also be added.

Still playing Aliens: Colonial Marines and enjoying it. Played with three friends on the "Ultimate Bad Ass" difficulty in 'The Raven' mission, set in the sewers under Hadley's Hope (Think where Newt was taken by a Xeno in the movie, as Ripley and Hicks tried to cut through the grating to get her). No weapons, no tracker... only a plasma torch to weld open/close doors and a shoulder mounted lamp. Things got a little... tense... during the escape, with The Raven Xeno charging after us, and we had to weld the doors shut to slow it down... and lost two teammates who were trapped while my friend welded the door on them. He has a habit of trapping people in the reactor and releasing the pressure on the Hazard map of Firebase Reactor in Mass Effect 3 MP.

Also alternating with Mass Effect 3's MP for this weekend's operation, a tribute to Robin Sachs, the VA for Zaeed Massani in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 as well as character in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: Origins Awakening.

Blasted through Blaster Master for NES on my Wii. The game got to the point of being ridiculously unfair, so I went through the Homebrew Channel with an NES emulator and used save states to save my progress. Then the bosses became even more retarded hard, so I plugged in the Classic Controller and spammed the turbo button. Yeah, eat that you giant alien. . .thing.

Sorry, I'm not a hardcore NES gamer. I can say I've legitimately beaten both NES Zelda games, all the original series MegaMan games, Metroid, and Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japanese release aka The Lost Levels), but Blaster Master was ridiculous with the limited continues. Screw that. Future technology for the win.

I started Metroid: Zero Mission for GBA today. It seems it's a whole lot shorter than the original NES Metroid as I've already beaten Kraid. I remember it taking me forever just to even find him.

Of course it's mainly due to the game being far more accessible than the original, which is a plus in my book. I just got done with Blaster Master, and I was dreading a repeat experience.

I'm glad Zero Mission is more it's own game, rather than simply Metroid with a shiny coat of paint, and makes playing through this all the more enjoyable. As a reimagining of the original story, I'm loving it, and it's games like these that remind me why I love to game so much.

Otherwise, an enjoyable experience - I should play it with my wife, because apparently humans can join in when you add a helper, according to Game Grumps.

So I went and started up Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. This is my first Square turn-based JRPG, so I have no idea what to expect. The art design is throwing me off a bit with the juvenile dialogue. I guess I'm not used to it yet. Either way, not much of a fan of the isometric perspective with prerendered environments, but the gameplay is fun. Similar to Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga's mechanics, and I know there is a reason for that.

I should also mention that I have also been going through Ocarina of Time's Master Quest on the 3DS. Zelda is always good fun. No complaints about reworked dungeons.

I've reached Bowser's Keep in Super Mario RPG. Didn't expect to get to this point so soon as I haven't been putting a whole lot of time into this game. It's definitely a whole lot shorter than other turn based RPG's I've been through. Course, this is only the third game I've played with a turn based battle system. The first being Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, and that is comparatively longer than this experience.

It's a fun romp, and to be honest, I'm kinda glad this is all this world has to offer, because I'm still not a huge fan of the isometric perspective, and dated prerendered environments.

A shoutout needs to be made out to Booster, however, because he is indeed an awesome character.

I suppose you're going to attempt the eradication of the inhabitants by making a meteor with a face crash into the planet? Only three days.

I beat several games this past week. The first being Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for SNES on my WiiU. Fun game. Wrapped up nicely.

Then I made several attempts at Gourmet Race in Kirby Superstar for SNES within the Dream Collection for Wii. I couldn't seem to beat King Dedede at all, even after ten or so tries. At that point I realized that I must have been doing something wrong as there's no way a Kirby game should ever be as hard as I was making it out to be. Especially a minigame that's intended to be shortlived. It turned out that there is a dashing mechanic that I never knew existed as I am more familiar with the first two Gameboy titles rather than the latter entries in the franchise, so it never occurred to me to try running through the course. DERP!

After I was finished with that, I proceeded onto Army Men: Air Attack for PSone. I beat it in three play sessions which usually amounts to two to three hours at a time. Incredibly short, but that's typical for an Army Men title. I would have had it down to two sessions, but the last boss was giving me problems. Fun game, but prone to sharp difficulty spikes. At least it wasn't too easy like the first few levels.

I then went on to DynaBlade. Once again, another Kirby game within Kirby Superstar. Pretty cool. I really like how they laid out these minigames. It allows me to extend the life of the collection by spreading them out between different games. And the art style is awesome too.

I suppose you're going to attempt the eradication of the inhabitants by making a meteor with a face crash into the planet? Only three days.

Haha no. It's just for looks. :P I thought it was cool that's in in this game. Cost 6,000 shop points or 600,000 bells so it's pretty pricey...

And yeah, dashing in Gourmet Race makes it easier... it's actually too easy in the DS version IMO but the SNES version is harder since Dedede runs faster.

I took some time to beat Gravity Bone and Thirty Flights of Loving. It's not like it took that much time, but I couldn't tell if that means I have good taste in indy games or that I wasted my five dollars on a half hour experience.

Tell you this much; there's no way I'm paying $10 for Dear Esther. Screw dat, I just watched it played on YouTube.

Imho, Gravity Bone was the better experience of the two, as they really should have flushed out the established mechanics (platforming sections and all) to create a fully fleshed out experience that could take more than a few hours to go through. Nope. It ends abruptly... It made me sad, as I loved the direction it was going in.

Thirty Flights of Loving was there just to mess with your head, lacking anything resembling game mechanics.

I fail to see how it's possible to get stuck on a current-gen title. Everything's too easy nowadays as everything's given to the player, instead of pushing them to earn it. That is, of course, you intentionally choose to play the hardest difficulty.

Well, not everything. Some games I've played on normal weren't too hard, but they're weren't too easy(Except for Resident Evil 6, where I played the campaigns on Veteran, because I felt that was appropriate for me). I'd play on harder difficulties if I wanted to, but that would mean more frustration for me, and I don't like getting frustrated. :p

I guess it's only if I'm confident enough to play on a harder difficulty.

It took a little bit to get used to the timings in battle cause I'm so used to Partners In Time, and Bowser's Inside Story timings which are different. One of my top favorite Mario games ever. Also playing this on a Gameboy Player so it actually rumbles! Not very often though, and only in the overworld... but still a nice feature.

Wait until you get to the Shadow Temple my friend. I've been stuck on that for over a year now... so I started over to see if I misused a key or what.

That makes me feel a bit better. Something tells me the solution is in relative plain site, much like at the point I got stuck in the Forest Temple. I was running around in circles for hours looking for a way to recede the water level in the well. I was just about to consult GameFAQs when I decided to dig in and try again. I then came across the switch, and I really could have found it easily had I simply looked INSIDE the well.

I figured it was going to be hard, as in harder enemies, but not exactly 'let's stump the player by hiding the door switch in a clever spot' harder.

The customisation options in Duels of the Planewalkers suck. Is the other game better for deck building?

None of the XBLA/Steam/PSN games gave you the freedom to build a deck. The new one supposedly will, but as it is, I don't play the virtual version(s) of MTG, I stick with the actual card game itself. It's a much greater social experience than any of the video games from the series. My wife likes to play them however, and they do come with card freebies, so there's no complaints from that.

Moving on; I have beaten Okamiden for the DS. It had a long drawn out, but satisfactory ending. An excellent game, though not as great as its predecessor, it still provides an awesome experience.
I also went through The Great Cave Offensive from Kirby SuperStar (SNES), and I've now started The World is Not Enough for the N64.

I never played the original 3DS version since I never owned a 3DS, but this is a pretty good port, so far. It's also a nice change of pace from action to traditional. I still enjoy the series, overall.

Well, I'm on the last episode of RE: Revelations and the boss battle is pissing me the fuck off. A brand new type of Tyrant I can't fight.

Edit: Found out I can use the weapon box as an exploit, so whatever. I can't even get the dodging down anyway.

Yeah, this battle was tough. How do the graphics look? I have the 3DS version but just curious.

I've only seen footage of the original version, but the graphics look improved. They're not on the same level as RE 6, but it's a port, so you can't really expect it to have overhauled graphics.

Finished the game, though. I'm not too proud of using the exploit, but this new form of Tyrant caught me off guard completely.

Since Super Mario RPG keeps freezing at this one part, my progress is hindered for now until I get it cleaned or something.

So I guess I'm starting over in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga for now, since I'm in a Star Wars mood, and I'm curious to see what it looks like on the Wii U.

Revisiting WoTS 1-4. Usually in 3 and 4 I like to prolong and avoid story line as much and just do my own thing. More prominently in 3 I'm able to do this without much hassle, but 4 is a little tricky considering go you're own way usually has the place crowded, then tournament, and such.

3200th trophy is "All Stars" for getting all stars in World Tour in S&ASRT (unlocked it using Tails only) - unlocked on Sonic's 22nd anniversary. The mirror mode messed with my mind xD
I also had to switch to a new controller yesterday (small L2 problem with last one - and the port of it often disconnected the wire, but I bore with that) - it's white, a colour that I like!

S&ASRT is my favourite game :D

Finished the GDI campaign on C&C: Tiberian Dawn. Currently on the NOD campaign.

Edit: And I thought NOD was going to be any better. It's even more frustrating. I feel like just skipping this game and going to Tiberian Sun + Firestorm, then Tiberian Wars, Kane's Wrath, and then Tiberian Twilight.

Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade - Final Fantasy III event 2nd half part 2.

I don't even know why I'm even wanting to rank in this part anyway...the weapons have no use in the next event anyway...and I don't know if I'm even gonna play this anymore. I might just become less active after this event is over and only go back in to keep myself in my party. Once a week. They kick people outta parties after one week.
