They kinda killed it by using the Light side ending of academy as canon & also like you've said, they've didn't make a new one in 7 years.
Dark side ending of Academy as canon would've been amazing hook for a new one.
Kyle Katarn is so badass that you have to escape from him in the final battle.
George Lucas said that the Light Side events of any of the games is official canon, so it really isn't up to the developers.
What they should do, is cover the events in the New Jedi Order EU novel series focusing on Katarn's involvement. Katarn hasn't died yet, and he shows up numerous times in the novels.
And by far, Katarn is my favorite Jedi.

Katarn isn't a Jedi.
He's just a guy with a Lightsaber & a few questions.
Yeah he's my fauvorite Star Wars Character probably.
I wouldn't be too sure of that if I were you.
After all I've heard about FFXIII, yes, you are right, sir.

Wait, it ended?
I know a new game hasn't been made in a few years, but I didn't know they killed the series.
I'd say it's prob my fav as well.
Battlefront is fun, but so far it's felt a little lackluster.
Rouge Squadron has been great, there's just too few games out there.
Why sin't lucasarts making a new Rogue Squadron game? On the wii they could make a special X-Wing controller like this (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHZ5FTPYuWE). You could press R2 on teh ship to repair and when you get shot down the figure pops out and the wings fall off. They made a nerf controller so they already have relations with hasbro make it happen!

No. Just no.
Anything 80's toy related is always a bad thing.
But I would love to see another Rogue Squadron. Word is; Factor 5 is busy doing other things -- either that or they're now defunct (

George Lucas said that the Light Side events of any of the games is official canon, so it really isn't up to the developers.
That's true, all light side endings to Star Wars games are canon. What I want to know is why GL wanted a sequel to Star Wars The Force Unleashed... the first one was terrible.
What they should do, is cover the events in the New Jedi Order EU novel series focusing on Katarn's involvement. Katarn hasn't died yet, and he shows up numerous times in the novels.
TBH, I don't think games made of the New Jedi Order era would be any good, as the novels pretty much cover all that and they only span a relatively small period in time.
Personally, I think games of the Old Republic era would be better, as they'd allow developers more leeway in making a game, but they'd have a large period of time to base them in (4000 years since the Sith War of Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma, then 50 years later the events of Knights of the Old Republic with Revan) and they can create it from start (story, characters etc) while not try to keep characters from the novels in it.
And by far, Katarn is my favorite Jedi.
Revan would bitch slap Katarn into the Black Hole Cluster near Kessel.
Anyway... back on topic. Currently playing the following:

It finally came in the mail this morning, and I promptly booted it up. I guess it's so supposed to be an open world FPS, but nothing interesting happens unless you go to the designated way-points. So far, the world is rather empty with buildings and trees scattered about. I'm hoping for more depth the longer I spend in the game.

I wouldn't think so, considering that Dragon Quest IX is its own game, whereas Pokemon Blue and Red were essentially mirrors of each other. A more applicable question, to poke fun at the sameness of all the games is to compare them to, say, Dynasty Warriors. Though, I would disagree, and say that the games are each different, and present completely different scenarios and tech.
I don't know why I just did that there, but that's the stream of thought that went through my head when I saw your response. . .

Darksiders.
At first I was 'meh, GOW rip off with one attack'
Then I was 'oooh, scythe, two attacks yay'
Then after the tremor glove, hookshot thing, epon...uh ruin, I realised I was playing Zelda with lots and lots of blood.
When I got my Aperture Science Glaive-Mounted Portal Device, I was hooked.
Sure, Darksiders takes bits of game design from everywhere and mushes them together; but it's GOOD game design, wrapped in a semi-decent story. Not quite as epic as God of War III - but it's hard to out-epic a game that starts with you climbing a Titan that's climbing Mount Olympus so you can kill motherfucking Zeus.

I don't see a World of Diablo or World of Starcraft, do you? But I do see a World of Warcraft. If Blizzard wants to continue the storyline of the Warcraft universe, they'll released a WoW expansion. As long as WoW exists, don't even think about a Warcraft RTS happening ever again. Frankly, I doubt there will even be one after WoW is gone.

Given that WarCraft III is still played competitively (see the current European WarCraft Invitational), there is definitely a demand for a WarCraft RTS. It would be difficult to make it story based, but there is no reason they couldn't develop a multiplayer-only WarCraft IV - take the races and lore from WoW, and build a multiplayer RTS around it.
When I first heard about battlegrounds, with Lumber Mills and Blacksmiths, i envisioned a grand RTS with one player directing other PCs, and 'spawning' characters based on resources collected. This was before i'd ever played an MMO, mind. As unrealistic as that seems now, when I first played a BG, the FPS style run-in-die-spawn was disappointing; there is still room for macro-leveled WarCraft.

It's perfectly possible to make an RTS after WoW. They could end that story arc on a cliffhanger then bring in the rest in WC4.
It's not like lore has to end with MMOs...

As much as I love my Xbox 360 Elite... I actually hate it at the moment. 2 major problems have hampered my gaming. First, freezing. Not matter the game, the action freezes leaving me unable to move my character, pull up the ingame menu or even the Xbox Guide (Via the Xbox button in the middle of the controller). Second... Red Ring Of Death. I think I'm cursed or something, as this is the third Xbox 360 (first elite) I have which has done this. Fortunately, it's still under warranty, but I'll be unable to play any of my favorite games for a month or so.
So... that brings me to what I'm playing at the moment. I've dug up my 'fatboy' PS2 which I haven't used since December of 2006... and it still works! I know, right? Even Nolan North couldn't save it. The Forgotten Sands had everything that made Sands of Time great - acrobatics, traps, humour, and a story you actually cared about, while improving on them, PLUS borrowing Assassin's Creed II's combat system.
Having an XP system meant that I actually looked forward to enemies, unlike the previous PoPs, where they were just chores between awesome parkour.
I'd still like to see an open-world Prince of Persia (using the AC engine) done right - although PoP's best puzzles are the linear trap sections. Maybe they need to follow AC's model of having buildings with a linear 'solution'.
I still haven't played Forgotten Sands, despite being a huge fan of the Sands of Time series. I should be getting around to it soon enough, hopefully.
But to be frank, I think the Prince of Persia games have pretty well run their course. The idea of an open world PoP game in the style of Assassin's Creed could be appealing, but no more than an actual Assassin's Creed game, especially if they continue adding the best elements of PoP gameplay.

Well the story wasn't as good as Sands of Time, but I'd be prepared to call it above average. But the Prince's face looks weird, man. Just... weird.
How exactly did it borrow the battle system from Assassin's Creed II? They're pretty much completely different. Not that any one of them is particularly good.
I felt the XP system was a bit unnecessary, to be honest. It's a bit of distraction, if nothing else. You say you look forward to enemies, but the way I see it, there's an extra chore I have to do before the platforming sections.

You're right about the face looking weird. I think they tried to cross the 'original' prince with Jake Gyllenhal and ended up with a freaky looking hybrid.
Most of the time in Assassin's Creed II you fight using the lock on (well I do, anyway), but for some of the trickier achievements you need to fight free form - and when you take away the lock on, increase the speed about three times, you get The Forgotten Sands' combat system. Given that The Forgotten Sands is made using Ubi's AC engine, I can imagine it was easier than creating a new combat system.
You're probably right about the XP thing, but I'm a levelling whore. It's why I've got 4 80's in WoW.
Prak - I can say without any reservation that The Forgotten Sands is the best Prince of Persia game when it comes to platforming. After the middling reviews it got I waited until I could pick it up cheap (I found it in a bargain bin mislabeled for 80% off, haha), but I would have happily paid full price for it.

Actually, that's pretty simple. The first one was funded and published by Microsoft. They own the property, and there is absolutely no way they'll let EA bring it to the PS3.
They might be able to do what Ninja Gaiden did, but Microsoft is probably desperate about this and won't let EA do that either.

Back to playing Final Fantasy XI and all my other Xbox 360 games, thanks to my Tax Return and getting Xbox 360 Slim.
Currently playing Quake 4; while its graphics are far superior to Doom 3, a game I too often compare it to, its overall quality is diminished by its staggeringly short play length. I've only been at it for a handful of hours and I've already just defeated Voss (poor bastard didn't deserve to die ; ; ). But overall, it's still got a lot of replay value and a surprisingly good cast of characters, rather than just nameless ciphers whom I watch die around me in the heat of combat. I'm likin' it.

Stop changing your username and avatar so often O.o
Sorry; this username's gonna be semi-permanent as the former one caused me troubles when browsing my profile.

Far superior graphics!?
Do you know what game engine means?
Right, but Quake 4 looks a lot more refined; hands don't consist of three welded-together fingers and one pointer, faces have so much more detail, textures are more crisp, etc.
Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ with a beta English patch (mainly to report bugs and glitches from it. The one making the patch knows what the problem is and how to fix it, but he wants to translate the rest of theater mode and I think the bubble text first).

Plants vs. Zombies.
Simplistic, yet addictive. And it has catchy BGM to boot.

Half Life 1 was built on id Tech 2 (the Quake II engine), and the difference in graphics quality is night and day - just because it's based on the same tech, doesn't mean that you can't adjust texture quality or polygon count.

Have you ever compared Unreal Engine games? Big differences sometimes.
Thanks guys! I was trying to think of examples to use, but I drew a blank :-/ Pretty crazy to think HL1 is just a beefed-up Q2 in many respects! Would've been interesting to guide other marines around in Q2 in a HL1 fashion; "Okay, I'll follow you!" "Roger that, let's run like hell!"
"You're going to have to leave me here, Gor . . . I mean nameless marine, there's a piece of glass on the ground that's blocking me from advancing further."
Idiot HL1 scientists.
edit: Oh, and right now I'm gaming not only Quake 4, but also alternating between it and Warcraft III that I bought. WCIII is a good game, but I really think they could've done a bit better job on the character portraits; some of them are insanely hard to look at. Other than that, I love this game!
