Just bought a N64 & Gamecube (very cheap in these days) for the sake of re-playing the good ol' Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games. It's very nostalgic and brings lot's of memories, I did felt bad back then, when I had to sell most of my stuff and was painful to see my games go ;_;, but no more, time to rejoice once again and watch out Amazon.com. I'm still not done buying more games for this good ol' skool consoles.

Glorious Final Fantasy IX on the PSP. Oh, how I love this game. It's so memorable. From the opening cinematics to the simplicity of Vivi's humble beginning, just trying to get in to see the show, Steiner's frantic search through the castle and his lazy squadron of knights, the hilarious Zorn and Thorn scene, the play, the epic escape from the castle and the subsequent escape from the forest. . . . I'm two and a half hours in now and I can't put it down.

Trying to do a music rip from it which requires me to go through the game :p It's not that bad...... but I still have to question the validity of a 'hero' that runs around in purple undies in the year 2040........... It didn't work in the past and it won't work in the future......... Did the Phantom comics ever have a fanbase?

I've beaten through Army Men: Sarge's Heroes (N64) and Metal Slug 4 (on Wii), since last I've been on. Had to format my hard drive, and still in the process of reclaiming my lost files. Still playing FFXII. And I'm frustrated beyond all belief.
Decided to make a run on the final dungeon, and trounced pretty much everything in there. Everything that is, except Vayne's stupid mecha-Bahamut-final-boss-form.
His special attacks are actually quite weak - strangely it's his normal physical attacks (where he simply shoots a party member) that are crushing. It can pretty much take out a party member in one hit if Protect is down (which has a habit of going down at the worst possible time).
Oh, and did I mention the bastard doesn't even have a HP gauge, so you have absolutely no idea how much longer you have til you can finally do him in. According to the absolutely useless strategy guide he has around 220 000 HP and is meant to be 'nearly dead' when he starts throwing up invincibility shields.
But even after smashing him repeatedly after the shields went down, and going through multiple Quickening chains he still wouldn't die, and pretty much wiped my party out after that, picking off my party one by one once Protect went down with his cheap and nasty little shotgun.
So yeah, not happy at all (but it says a lot about FFXII where they take the end boss's name seriously.).
Either way, I'm going to keep trying til I beat this giant narcissistic douchebag.

No UMD means it's a lot lighter - it weighs about half what my iPhone weighs. Also, you can get most of the games on the PlayStation Store anyway - there are a few you can't, but you can run pirated games on them now, so if I wanted to I could still play them. I'm going through a legit stage though, so i'm paying for games - it probably won't last long.

FFIX; I'm at the very last battle. I've yet to beat it, but I'm using a completely different party than I ever did before. I've still got Zidane, Eiko, Amarant and Freya, and I've come damn close to besting Necron numerous times but that damn Grand Cross keeps getting me. use steiner instead of amarant. shock deals max damage.
Ohhh nice! Thanks bud, I'll try that :) Amarant has the 'Healer' ability that lets him restore HP to a target, but during Necron's battle it works against me too often because Grand Cross causes some status defect (I still can't figure out what it is exactly) that makes Amarant's attacks HURT the target, causing my plan to backfire. Necron has sort of a pattern that I still can't manage to work around; he starts out just sort of pussyfooting around, zapping us with random Blue Shockwaves to knock down our health to 1, but Amarant can quickly remedy that with Healer. However, after that first Grand Cross, it seems like Amarant does no good anymore, so I just have him cast Aura on himself so that when Necron's next move, the infamous Neutron Ring, wipes us all out, Amarant can at least come back with 1 HP and throw down a few Phoenix Downs. But although my plan does seem to work for a while, it doesn't last, and thus, I die a bloody death. I've tried it without Amarant's Healer turned on so that he does damage again like normal, but then I'm severely lacking those essential heals he deals, and his Aura. But the maximum damage Amarant can do is limited solely to the more powerful weapons he can throw, like Rising Sun, Razor Wind, Sargentas, Mesamune, Diamond Sword, and Heavy Lance. I'd much rather have a character who doesn't have to rely on throwing weapons in limited supply to deal acceptable damage, so Steiner would be a great choice :D I'll have to level him up a little because my party is all at least ten levels higher than him just from my trek through Memoria.
aces4839
01-12-2011, 06:17 PM
the status effect that would hurt amarant's target is zombie, which hurts undead by healing. grand cross causes numerous ailment, most which can be canceled out with abilities. the ones to watch for are zombie, reducin to 1 hp and even death. minimize also makes things difficult. if u have angel's snack learned from quina with remedies in stock, this wont be too terrible.

Succumbed to temptation and started playing FFXIV. Although there are glaring flaws with this game (most notably - confusing GUI, no Auction House, lack of npc shops, equipment wears out too easy, gameplay is almost completely geared towards item synthesis), it still has a lot of potential. And the gameworld is gorgeous.
And it's not as if it's costing me anything to play, due to the free trial period being extended indefinitely, so yeah. Plus, given the fact that SE are moving towards addressing the most annoying faults (fixing the GUI and adding an AH/npc stores), hopefully this game should improve considerably. :)

Until SE alters the god damn stupid payment option (as well as fix the multitude of other flaws and even then it's not 100% as I don't have a PS3 or PC power enough to run it, and I refuse to buy a PS3 just for that game), FFXIV is a pass for me. Gone back to finish off playthroughs of 3 Shepards I have prepared for Mass Effect 3, in Mass Effect 2.
Started playing some original Final Fantasy IV/II on SNES. No matter how good any remakes/ports may be, this is the greatest version of one of the greatest games ever made. The GBA port skimps on a lot of the things that I love about the original (right down to simply the way certain things are worded; the original does it all perfectly), and the DS remake is great, but could never amount to the original. LOVE this game!

I don't know if others had this impression, but I always pictured Issac as an older man than he is in DS 2.
So I was a bit disappointed with how he looked and sounded like those generic male actors who star in modern horror films.

It's worth playing just for Isaac's new and improved Stomp move. It was always great fun in the first game to stamp and stomp on everything you could, but it's even better now. Plus, Isaac's 'WRRRRAGHH, HRRRGRAAHHH!' as he does it is better too!
Literally, all I've really done on that game so far is Stomp my way around the levels - it just never gets old!
Revan:
If you want my code, you're welcome to it. I never use online extras, anyway. I think you need a copy of the game to input it, but you might be able to do it at EA's site, maybe? If you can and you want it, just PM me, because I'm never going to use it.

i got the bad ending in 999. it kind of sucks you have to go through the game again to get the other endings, but at least you can speed through non-new text.
999 is an escape game text adventure thing, by the way. lots of reading. if you don't like escape flash games ("Im stuck in a room!") you will not like it, as that's its core gameplay mechanic.
i love them and it and we're a happy family of effed up stories.

There is. A labyrinth like ship with 100 levels. All you get for completing it... a costume for one of the female characters. Do it again, get a second costume for the same character. No real purpose really. You didn't need a new game+ to get it though...
anyway, it was a fun game

No I didn't got New Game+ ending since the first time I played it on my ps2 and now on my ps3. And still you don't breeze through the game I agree. Where I am now the enemies hit like trucks and need jumping to kill them. Takes alot of pots. Hehe, I don't know why you didn't enjoy this game it is excellent imo. But some people may not like it. The battlesystem is great and addicting and the world is beautiful. Own them all with guides and completed them multiple times (except for the newest Proffessor Layton and the awesome game Inazuma Eleven). The battle system was okay, nothing to really write home about. The music was subpar imo, and didn't really convey across well with what was actually being done ingame. True the worlds are beautiful, but they couldn't really grab my attention. Areas like the Rosa Labyrinth or Mariglenn, while impressive in their own right, pale in comparison to other areas/cities in other games (The Citadel in Mass Effect, Denerim in Dragon Age, Nar Shaddaa in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords, the Imperial City in Jade Empire for example were all beautifully designed cities/areas). While the story isn't great, it's not that good either... however having said that, it is better than the story in Shadow Madness (I hate that game). All in all, it was a so so game imo.
Apart from Rogue Galaxy, haven't played any other games by that developer... but meh... to each their own.

You have good reasons to think the game was so so ;) In the end it is all by personal preferences ofcourse. I also got the soundtrack for this game and I like the music overall. Myself I don't really compare games that I play to other games I just play them there on the spot and I can enjoy every rpg how bad it may be, that is something I really appreciate because it makes me get the most out of my games.
krissy
02-24-2011, 03:19 AM
the worlds were PRETTY, but they were terribly designed.
it was essentially an on-rails game, and they replaced interesting design with vastness of the environment.
still had a lot of fun, but running for 10 minutes in one direction gets tedious when nothing new appears in the environment
---------- Post added at 09:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:18 PM ----------
i finished 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and got all the endings. this is probably the best written game i've played recently. never though a text adventure/escape game would rank so high on my list but it's definitely cemented its place up there.
if you ever plan on playing it, i recommend getting the bad endings first, along with the sub ending. it makes you appreciate everything a whole lot more.

Well... I've only played about 3 hours of it so far... it does seem to be more heavily influenced in the action area with light RPG elements. Story wise seems pretty good so far, and the menu system is the same as Dragon Age: Origins/Awakening. The battle system, seems to be more like Dynasty Warriors though (basically just hitting the 'A' button for basic attacks, then the corresponding 'X', 'Y' and 'B' buttons, with the odd press of 'R1' to toggle the talents/spells), in short a lot of button bashing.
Also... take what critics and reviewers say about games in general with a grain of salt. Could be that a game flamed by so called 'unbiased reviewers' etc, wherein they hate it etc... you may like it.
All in all, it's not a bad game... but it's not really a RPG or even really a Action-RPG imo... Really it's up to the individual in question if they'll like it or not.

Do I want to think about getting FF13?

i had ff13. the game isnt as bad as most people think. only disappointment for me is that theres no towns or inns to rest at and thats a big factor in the series.
Saying yes before 500 million people say no :-*

COD4. Still the best out of the series I think. Also keeps the reflexes going.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Final Fantasy XIII (although this game is WAY more linear than Lost Odyssey, I can't help but be very interested in the story so far)
Picked up Zelda: Spirit Tracks again from where I left off, and beat it! I was sad to have to see it end :( Truly a masterpiece game; loved every minute of it!!!

Due to my idiot cousin apparently 'accidentally' formatting my Xbox 360's HDD, had to go back and restart Mass Effect (amongst other games). Sigh... why can't retarded idiots of relatives leave my gear alone?

Since I bought a 3DS, I've been playing this:
Not the worst game ever. It has its faults, but I'm having fun with it, so it can't be as bad the critics say it is. I don't think I could play it with the 3D on for more than five minutes anyways.
I also played a bit of MarioKart Wii today. Fun times.
And I've finally returned to GTA San Andreas after a two week hiatus.

Have you played their first game Fahrenheit / indigo prophecy? It's incredible.

holding on to it until i get a decent pc to run it uncensored.
i dont mind regional edits (like in mario kart 64, changing the propaganda signs), but censorship (ie, take out a scene or portion of the game, vital to the story or not) irks me.

Fahrenheit is uncensored and was released here in Australia. Shame about Indigo Prophecy...
Also I have a pentium 4 / 2gb RAM / 9400gt series gfx card and it ran really smoothly for me. Just make sure you have a USB controller ^^,
In fact I'm still surprised my PC can run The Last Remnant >.>

Not gaming, but after messing with the 3DS on display with pilotwings resort at Walmart, now I feel like picking one up. It's badass. Any good FF, Mario, and Zelda games to come out for the 3DS?

Well there's the Ocarina of Time remake coming. Mario will be inevitable and Squenix already said they'll bring some kind of FF game to 3DS. So, yeah.
I'm playing LittleBigPlanet.

Finished playthrough of Mass Effect, so imported my Shepard into Mass Effect 2. Also playing Final Fantasy XI Online and Dynasty Warriors 7.
From what I've played of DW7, HUGE improvement over the 6th installment. Seems to be more historically accurate, and combines the battle system (as in, having two weapons per character and can change weapons with ease) and the 'town' base from Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce. After I play some more, I'll have a better opinion of it (only played an hour so far lol).
