Nope. Not useful of course but I think at least 3 of the 5 members were available in those awful KO sets that circulated dollar stores a while ago. Kind of amusing that they'd get paired with two other randoms. I believe there was a fairly accurate KO of the giftset as well, but I'm not sure how common it was. That's one thing I didn't keep up with much.

I did see a K.O. set that had some of both in it, appropriately enough.

My mom dug up a box of combiner pieces and weapons. I'm sure she'll bring over everything soon enough. I've got a lonely Drag Strip and Octopunch sitting here.

I have a Scattershot and Lightspeed left over from teh childhoods. They were hand me downs from some kid that belonged to a coworker of my mom. They're not in great shape but I'm still glad to have 'em. Didn't have many other G1 toys at all.

Found all of Computron's pieces, save the chest plate. I'm going to assume it's attached to Scattershot. So, I'm set on that, since I know I have the figures.

Need Menasor's head, crotch, and hands. I'm not opposed to buying those if I have to. It'll be better than several hundred for the set :rolleyes:

I have some of Piranacon's pieces set aside. Not too worried about getting him up and running. As long as I find Seawing. Same for Abominus. Even as a kid I didn't much care for him :laugh:

From what I hear, the stickers are pre-applied and not always on the mark. There are a few color differences from the original as well, but I prefer that in a reissue. Differences help keep the old one "special."

Found a buttload of stuff. Monstructor :awsm::awsm::awsm: His pretender shells are sticky as fuck. I knew they were because I had them out a while back and put them in a ziplock bag so they didn't fuck anything else up.

It's not just mine. I've seen a couple reviews where people were complaining about it. The same plastic was used on certain pieces of other Pretenders. I didn't remember having so many of them. I don't think I've ever been gaga over them outside of Starscream, though :erm:

Tons of scramble city combiners. The few figures I'm missing have to be in the shed and as such are probably ruined. I don't feel bad that I bought a Scattershot and Dead End, just now. That's all I was missing in terms of the two I desperately wanted :(

I've always been able to remember picking out Cloudburst from KB Toys for some reason. Only Pretender I had.

Octopunch and Bludgeon are cool, and Pretender Jazz is the oldest Jazz I have, but most of them are way too generic.

The only shells that stand out for me, appropriately enough, are Octopunch and Bludgeon.

I think I had two. Pincher and Bumblebee. probably bought them in england, as I'm not sure they were released in France.

I had to look Pincher up. He cheats like mad with that tail/legs shell :laugh:

Pros:

Lots of nice detail that could be panel-lined by someone up to the task
Svelte, clean bot mode
Simple alt-mode that fits the aesthetic of the games
Third set of wheels that could function where they end up (i.e., I'm fine with saying the figure doesn't cheat, at all)

Cons:

No ankle swivels
no waist joint
The tabs
The gearing

The joints are all ratcheted, which is usually exquisite, but this is a very light figure and that time and plastic could have went into ankle improvement. The body is thin and I love how the back is formed so neatly, so I'll forgive the waist joint. As designed, it probably would have made him floppy. He is a little floppy, but not in either mode. Instead, it's during the transformation. I realize that at this point it's basically a tradition to gear Jazz's chest, but there's a little more going on here than usual. There's an accordioning piece (like in Rhuulbaar) and the folding is done on rods which don't seem to have actual gears.

It's simple enough that this doesn't take an excruciating amount of time, so the real problem is the tabs. To me, it seems like tabs were previously used to gently hold together pieces of vehicle modes. Shell pieces, basically. Where you can pull pieces apart from one another and disengage them, with no fear of breakage. When they did hold two panels together they used big, thick ass tabs, like on Seaspray's backpack.

Now, they're using the really thin ones to do the same thing. This is kind of putting me off of my resolution to get Bruticus to support them actually doing a well thought out, legitimate combiner :sad:

Overall, I like him, but I'll probably transform him less, out of fear, which is never a good thing.

Boo. Haven't heard anyone else mention that issue before. Most people just complain about the hollow chest.

I grabbed Shockwave from Amazon. He's only ok. Looks decent standing there but feels too small and has passable at best articulation, crappy hollow legs, and a poorly proportioned alt-mode. The Prime deluxes I've messed with are mostly worth having but things just seem to be going downhill overall. I hope they get their shit in check before they start making more actual Classics stuff.

Yeah, I'm hoping this isn't going to be going down with Classics. I haven't had any Prime toys. If they do a Roddy, I'll probably bite.

Watched Vangelus sticker Breakdown, last night, finally. Good lord.

The chest doesn't bother me horribly. The bigger shoulders is a bit of a thing with the game bots, so the sunken head is fine, with me. The back is solid and the thrusters end up in the right place to imagine he can do the assisted jumps they do. If he wasn't filling the Bionic Commando role, or course.

Have to look up and from the side, or straight down to notice the hollowness. It's a much bigger problem on Swindle than it is on Jazz, for my money.

He holds together well enough without that tab, so I'm not all adsflakjdfalksdjfasldkjf, but they seriously need to get back to what they were doing compared to these shenanigans.

What did you think about the back of the legs? Looked pretty bad in the initial pictures imo but judging from newer shots I guess it's not bad when he's standing straight?

The legs are fine. The shins are technically hollow, but they have all kinds of raised bits in there. It isn't EMPTY. They pulled that on RH-03 and FS-0O in the Go-Buster's line. I can't really complain.

That's a bit of a shame, considering Blast Off and Vortex (without hands-on time) are the ones I'm most liking.

Which brings up something about the games. You only get a small handful of bots to play. There's only like 6 levels per side. The mechanics are broken into a few move-sets. Drivers, flyers, bots. This is exemplified in the multiplayer, from what I remember.

Why can't we replay the levels with characters they already have skins for? I've seen Vortex game-play. Is Swindle playable?

Why not downloadable skins? Seems pretty obvious to me. We could get Blades, Evac, Whirl, the list goes on and on and on and on.

Vortex/Blast-Off are still being released, that picture is a mix of the SDCC and retail sets. Someone's request in his TFW review thread.



If I had my choice of the three versions this one would be last. Looks a bit test shot-ish. I still think the G2 one should have been the SDCC exclusive, with game-accurate hitting retail. This Energon-based one is just odd.

If the chapters are character specific I guess there won't be any ability to put other characters in, but if they cared to I'm sure that could be worked around. I haven't followed it too much. I've heard good things about the campaign but not so much the multiplayer.

Definitely think the SDCC color-scheme is the best, and it should have been retail.

They could silence the voices on multiple playthroughs. Or not at all. Uncharted lets you use skins aplenty and nothing changes besides how you look. I couldn't care less about competitive multiplayer. In most any game.

He had like, more character development in that huge team movie than most characters have in their own stand alone outing.

Tony is the only person in that movie I cared about. Plus, I didn't feel like he had much in the way of good material, anyway.

There was way too much going on that I was apathetic towards, and I was confused about a lot of things because I have no idea what the parameters are on the villains. I didn't ever know if Loki was in a position where he should give up, because I don't know what powers he has as a god. Which is why I was against having Thor in the movieverse, in the first place. A man with indestructible metal on his bones? No problem. A god? Such a can of worms :ashine:

I know it's fine and mostly awesome for people who care about everyone involved, but for me there was way too much working against it. It's like if someone watched Jay and Silent Bob after only seeing Chasing Amy.

You never saw the first movie? the animated one from 1986? that featured the first and true appearence of Galvatron, who is really Megatron revived by the monster planet Unicron. He took over the Deceticons after blowing up Starscream. HE was also voiced by Lenord Nemoy aka Mr Spock. Galvatron transforms into a laser cannon.

I was graduating high school and getting married in 86. I never watched any of the original cartoons. The first live action film was my first TF viewing.

@Bristol : Megatron wasn't revived by Unicron (who was voiced by the great Orson Welles... this was his LAST role ever iirc), he was reformatted into Galvatron. In short Megatron ceased to exist at all and was a new entity altogether. Thundercracker, Bombshell and Shrapnel were formatted into Scourge and his henchmen, the Sweeps while Skywarp and Kickback were formatted into Cyclonus and his 'Armada' (who ironically was never seen again... but a fourth Sweep appeared...). Also, Starscream's body was destroyed at his coronation on Cybertron by Galvatron... but his ghost haunted his homeplanet, until he tricked Unicron (who's decapitated head was still orbiting Cybertron as a hideous moon) into recreating his body... only to have moments later, be blown up by Galvatron.

@Amanda : Bayformers is a abomination imo. I've seen the first (and was subjected to the second and third movies by friends) and I've wanted my money back. TBH, I'd rather watch a Uwe Boll movie... at least I can laugh at how bad they are and not have my childhood molested and left to die, beaten and bloodied, in a alleyway in Hollyweird...
